In a shocking turn of events, D4vd, the alt-pop singer known legally as David Burke, has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. The case involves the tragic death of a 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered last year in a Tesla linked to the singer. The vehicle had been towed from the Hollywood Hills, following a report of abandonment.
The Los Angeles Police Department made the announcement on Thursday, confirming that the 21-year-old artist from Houston is being detained without bail. Investigators are preparing to present their findings to the District Attorney’s Office on Monday, seeking formal charges.
D4vd’s involvement emerged from an inquiry by an LA County grand jury. The investigation, shrouded in secrecy, became public on February 25. This was when D4vd’s family—his mother, father, and brother—challenged subpoenas in a Texas court, which required their testimonies.
The body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had just turned 15 the day before her discovery, was found on September 8. She vanished as a 13-year-old seventh grader in 2024 from Lake Elsinore, located approximately 70 miles southeast of Los Angeles. At the time of her death, she was 14, according to court records.
The Tesla Model Y, a 2023 edition, was registered to Burke at his family’s Texas address. Authorities towed it from an affluent area in the Hollywood Hills after it appeared to have been left unattended. This disturbing case has captivated the public’s attention, as more details are anticipated with the impending legal proceedings.
