ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — In a concerning case out of St. Johns County, a woman is facing charges of child abuse following troubling video evidence captured on a Ring doorbell camera. The footage was reviewed by local deputies who concluded that the woman, identified as Kiah Lowey, was involved in a disturbing altercation with her child immediately after an Instacart grocery delivery.

Responding to this call, deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office swiftly arrived at the scene. Their subsequent investigation, heavily relying on the Ring footage, led to Lowey’s arrest and her subsequent charge of child abuse.
The sequence of events unfolded on May 31, when a concerned individual reported witnessing the altercation on their Ring camera, which recorded the moment following the delivery. The footage clearly showed Lowey, who is 36, physically striking her child outside a home on Alta Street.
The video shows the child struggling to hold a basket of groceries, with Lowery appearing frustrated, cussing at the child. When her child was unable to carry the basket, Lowery told them to carry a 24-pack of bottled water instead, the video shows.
When the child dropped the case of water, deputies say Lowery hit them in the face.

Lowery has since been released from the St. Johns County Jail following her arrest. She is ordered to have no contact with her child, SJSO said.
