A man armed with a sword was shot and killed by police in Nashville on Saturday outside a sedan where authorities said a woman was reportedly being held against her will.
The deadly officer-involved shooting happened on Cheshire Drive after Metro Nashville police officers confronted a 54-year-old man standing outside his Hyundai sedan while carrying a sword, the department said.
According to police, a woman was inside the vehicle and was reportedly being detained against her will. Officials have not disclosed her condition.

Police said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation into the shooting.
Officials have not released any further details about the confrontation, including what prompted the officer to open fire.
