As temperatures in New York City soared, a disturbing surge in youth violence cast a shadow over an otherwise sunny afternoon in Queens. On Thursday, a 13-year-old boy fell victim to a stabbing incident, leaving him with a severe leg injury following a heated argument.
Authorities discovered the young teen bleeding profusely from his right leg after responding to an emergency call around 4 p.m. The incident took place near Rufus King Park, at the intersection of 89th Avenue and 153rd Street in Jamaica, according to reports from the NYPD.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the stabbing was the result of an escalating dispute, though the police have yet to disclose further details about the confrontation or the parties involved.
Following the incident, the injured boy was swiftly transported to Cohen’s Children’s Hospital. Thankfully, he remains in stable condition, offering a glimmer of relief amidst the unsettling event.
In the aftermath, police officers were seen meticulously gathering evidence from the scene. Photographs from the site show them examining a large knife, which had been cordoned off along the sidewalk, as part of their ongoing investigation.
Other objects, such as what appeared to be a broken wooden log and a metal rod, were marked as evidence, the images showed.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing, authorities said.
The incident came just hours before 15-year-old Jaden Pierre was gunned down near Nautilus Playground in Roy Wilkins Park in St. Albans.
Another 15-year-old boy was killed and two others were critically wounded in a shooting inside a picturesque Long Island park Wednesday night after a cook-out involving alleged gangbangers descended into voilence.
