On Sunday, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, confirmed the deaths of two U.S. Embassy staff members in what was described as an “accident” in Mexico.
Johnson expressed his sorrow over the loss, stating, “The tragic passing of two U.S. Embassy personnel, along with the Director of Chihuahua’s State Investigation Agency (AEI) and an AEI officer in this unfortunate event, deeply saddens us. We honor their dedication and relentless efforts in tackling one of today’s most significant challenges. Our hearts and thoughts are with their families and loved ones during this difficult time,” he shared on social media platform X.

The ambassador further highlighted the inherent dangers faced by those in such roles.
“This heartbreaking incident serves as a powerful reminder of the dangers encountered by Mexican and U.S. officials committed to safeguarding our communities,” Johnson remarked. “It reinforces our determination to pursue their mission and uphold our mutual dedication to security and justice, ensuring the safety of our citizens.”
Details remain unclear, including the nature and location of the incident and whether the personnel were U.S. citizens.
