On Friday, former President Trump hinted at the possibility of appointing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to a cabinet role in the upcoming year.
When asked by a reporter about the potential for DeSantis to join a future Trump administration, Trump expressed his admiration, stating, “Well, I like him a lot.”

DeSantis, who once competed against Trump for the 2024 presidential nomination, trailed significantly behind in the Iowa caucuses, leading to the dissolution of his campaign. Following this, DeSantis endorsed Trump, and the two, both hailing from Florida, now collaborate closely on advancing Trump’s agenda.

In recent developments, DeSantis has championed new congressional district maps in Florida. These changes have the potential to secure four additional House seats for Republicans in the 2026 midterms, supporting Trump’s efforts to maintain GOP dominance in Congress.
Trump has reshuffled his cabinet in recent months, ousting Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary, Pam Bondi as attorney general and Lori Chavez-DeRemer as Labor Secretary.
Trump has yet to nominate a permanent replacement for the AG and Labor posts.
