WASHINGTON — In a dazzling display of celebration, President Trump took a triumphant course around the 1.7-mile track of the IndyCar Freedom 250 Grand Prix near the US Capitol on Sunday, marking a high point in the summer events commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.
As he circled the track in the formidable presidential limousine known as “the Beast,” Air Force One majestically soared above, culminating a series of awe-inspiring flyovers that set the stage for the prestigious race.
In an interview with Fox Sports prior to his round, Trump remarked, “They’ve aspired to bring this event here for two decades. It has grown to be, I believe, grander and more spectacular. Despite forecasts of rain throughout the week, we are blessed with stunning weather. I was told it would rain, but I said, ‘No, it won’t,’ and today is one of the finest days in Washington I’ve experienced in quite some time.”
