The initiative, dubbed “Project Freedom” and announced by the president on Sunday, faced opposition after discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman failed to reach a consensus, according to a report by NBC News.

This military strategy aimed to prevent Iran from potentially obstructing the critical passageway, which is a conduit for at least 20% of the world’s maritime oil shipments.
