On Thursday, the White House responded to Ariana Grande’s criticism after the singer and actress called out the Trump administration for featuring one of her tracks in a social media video focused on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations.
“Let us clarify once more: the truly barbaric, inhumane, and heinous acts are committed by criminal illegal aliens who have harmed and killed innocent American citizens,” stated White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson in a statement to Fox News Digital.
Earlier this week, the 32-year-old artist expressed her disapproval of the White House’s use of her song “Bye” in a TikTok post. She commented, “Please never associate my music with this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. f– ice.”
The video from the White House was captioned with: “Bye-bye. President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history.”
By Thursday, it appeared that the audio track had been removed from the controversial video.
Last September, Grande shared an Instagram post that claimed “immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed.”
She also attended the Women’s March shortly after President Donald Trump took office the first time in 2017 and vocally opposed his transgender bathroom ban on social media.
Last year, she also shared a protest sign that said: “Could someone explain which crimes get you deported and which ones get you elected President? It’s so confusing,” referencing Trump being convicted of 34 felonies related to his falsifying business records in the Stormy Daniels “hush money” case.
She previously supported Kamala Harris for president and performed for former President Barack Obama at the White House in 2014.
