WASHINGTON – In an encouraging sign for the U.S. economy, layoffs remain exceptionally low as weekly unemployment benefit applications shrank to their smallest number in ten weeks.

Last week, the Labor Department revealed that applications for jobless aid in the week ending July 11 decreased by 8,000, reaching 208,000. This figure significantly undercuts the 219,000 claims that analysts, referencing FactSet data, anticipated.

Considered an immediate reflection of the job market’s state, weekly unemployment benefit claims have become a crucial measure of economic stability and layoffs.

To smooth out the fluctuations, the four-week rolling average of jobless claims dipped by 4,750, settling at 214,250.

In a similarly positive trend, the total American workforce seeking unemployment aid during the week concluding on July 4 fell by 16,000, reaching a historically strong number of 1.81 million.

Intoxicated Driver Plunges Into Pool, Strikes Swimmers in Startling Crash

Jeep into pool

A driver, allegedly under the influence, crashed her Jeep into the pool at Smuggler’s Notch Resort in Cambridge, Vermont. (WPTZ).

In a dramatic and unsettling incident, a New Jersey woman, said to be driving while intoxicated, drove a Jeep through a fence and directly into a pool at a Vermont resort. The alarming crash prompted swimmers, including children, to urgently escape from the water’s path.

The unnerving event unfolded around 3:30 p.m. Monday at Smuggler’s Notch Resort in Cambridge, according to the Vermont State Police. The woman behind the wheel, whose identity is currently withheld due to “the age of the individuals involved,” faces charges including driving under the influence, reckless or gross negligence, and two counts of reckless endangerment, as reported by local NBC affiliate WPTZ.

Police reports indicate that the woman plowed into the fence encircling the pool area before the vehicle made its way into the water, further heightening the chaos of the scene.

The pool was packed with swimmers. Two people suffered minor injuries, troopers said. One of them was 9-year-old Joseph Sage.

“I just heard a bang and a car went there,” Joseph said in an interview with WPTZ. “It hit my head and pulled me under.”

Photos obtained by the TV station showed the Jeep submerged in the pool. A towing company used a crane to lift the Jeep out of the water.

The woman reportedly failed several sobriety tests at the scene of the crash and was arrested. She pleaded not guilty to all the charges during a court hearing on Wednesday. She faces two years in prison for each of the DUI and negligent conduct charges, plus a year for the reckless driving charge, per WPTZ.

A judge barred her from driving and drinking alcohol. Her next court date was not listed.

Smuggler’s Notch, 30 miles northeast of Burlington, is known for its ski resort, but has several water activities for the summer.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Film Price Sparks Frenzy Among Fans: $19.89

Taylor Swift’s devoted fanbase has expressed outrage over the pricing of her Eras tour film, currently set at $19.89 for a mere 48-hour rental.

At 33, the pop sensation finds herself under fire, with many accusing her of further capitalizing on opportunities to increase her wealth. Critics argue she should offer the film for free, pointing out her billionaire status.

With her incredibly triumphant Eras tour, the “Style” singer saw her net worth soar to an impressive $1.1 billion just last month, according to Forbes.

Some fans have also taken issue with the rental-only option, expressing disappointment that the concert film isn’t available for purchase or included in any subscription streaming services.

Among the numerous voices on social media, one fan tweeted, “I’m sorry, but it seems like she’s getting a bit money-hungry. Charging $20 for a one-time viewing when she’s already a billionaire doesn’t sit right.”

Another penned: ‘Why wouldn’t she make it free. She’s a billionaire & we’ve already paid to see it in movies.’

A third penned: ‘She is really finding a way to get every single dollar she can get out of this. renting is crazy.’

‘Capitalist queen for real,’ another wrote.

One more agreed: ‘Enough with the cash grabs girl. You have like a billion dollars. Releasing every CD with 8 different versions was already too much but this just feels egregious. Just let it stream or let people straight up buy it. This feels icky.’

Someone else said: ‘I’m kinda tired of her releasing one thing and then different versions of it later. I want to buy the thing and that’s it, I know I’ve gotten the complete item. Not dribs and drabs of it.’

Another fan replied to that Tweet saying: ‘The general vibe is that people are unimpressed by this blatant cash grab.’

Others pointed out that Taylor had withheld three songs from the movie theater release of her concert film that would now be available in the rented version.

Therefore even if fans had paid to see the film in the theater they have to pay again if they want to watch these additional performances.

Currently boasting over 108 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform, the Enchanted singer previously bagged the UK top spot in 2022.

This year has been another very successful year for the pop superstar, who has been estimated to have generated nearly $5bn in consumer spending alone in the US leg of her Eras Tour.

Only two UK artist joined Taylor in the top five most streamed artist in the UK, with Drake and The Weeknd both landed second and third respectively.

Spotify Wrapped 2023 sums up how 574M people around the world listened to the streaming giant this year.

The brand unveiled that Arctic Monkeys and Ed Sheeran squeezed their way into the fourth and fifth UK spot.

But it was not only in the UK that Taylor bagged the most-listened-to crown – she also came out on top internationally.

It was the first time in three years the Bad Bunny was not been the most listened to artist globally.

But the Puerto Rican rapper did land second place, having released 2023 most streamed album – Un Verano Sin Ti – raking in a whopping 4.5 billion streams since January 1.

Coming in third was the Weeknd, whose album – Starboy – was the fourth most streamed of the year globally, despite being released in 2016.

The Weeknd was followed by Drake, Peso Pluma, Feild and Travis Scott, who launched his highly-anticipated album Utopia in July.

The eight most streamed artist globally was SZA, who rocked the R&B genre with her critically acclaimed album SOS.

SOS, which included a roster of hits such as Kill Bill, Snooze and Good Days, was the third highest streamed album on Spotify internationally.

Following SZA in ninth and tenth place is Karol G and Summertime Sadness crooner Lana Del Rey.

Swift also had major success with two songs, which both landed in Spotify’s top ten most streamed songs globally.

Both her 2016 single Cruel Summer and her 2022 hit-song Anti-Hero placed sixth and tenth on the list.

Nabbing the crown for 2023’s most listened to song in world was Flowers by Miley Cyrus, with more than 1.6 billion listens since January 1.

Others pointed out that Taylor had withheld three songs from the movie theater release of her concert film that would now be available in the rented version so you would have to rewatch

Blue Angels Investigate Low Flyover Near Florida Beaches

0

PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. — In a dazzling display over the pristine sands of Pensacola Beach, a jet from the U.S. Navy’s legendary Blue Angels aerobatics team performed a maneuver that has now prompted an internal review. Onlookers were stunned Wednesday morning as the aircraft flew exceptionally low, sparking a buzz on social media about the unexpected aerial close-up.

According to an official statement, the thrilling flight was part of an arrival maneuver. However, it deviated from the planned trajectory, resulting in a much lower-than-usual flyover, which sent beachgoers’ chairs and umbrellas flapping in its wake. This dramatic display has been characterized by the team as a “low-altitude pass.”

The incident took place during the much-anticipated “Breakfast with the Blues” event, as reported by North Florida’s ABC affiliate, WEAR.

Long-time attendee Ashley Korn, who spoke to WEAR, shared her amazement, saying, “I’ve been coming for 10 years and I’ve never seen a pass like that in my life. I literally thought we were going to be taken out by Blue Angels, but it was amazing.”

In response, the Blue Angels addressed their commitment to safety, emphasizing that the well-being of their local community, the spectators, and their pilots is of utmost importance. Team leaders are currently examining the events surrounding this particular maneuver, ensuring it meets the rigorous safety standards set by both the Navy and the FAA.

Heartbreaking Search Suspended for 3 Missing San Francisco Boaters After Tragic Capsize

0

A difficult decision was made Wednesday evening by the U.S. Coast Guard to pause the search for the missing trio. These individuals, along with their family, were part of a memorial outing near the iconic island when calamity struck, toppling the vessel and leaving loved ones anxiously waiting for news.

On that ill-fated Tuesday afternoon, the cabin cruiser found itself submerged with its 20 passengers. Tragically, Clifford Joseph Boisa, aged 79 and from Sutter County, was among those pulled from the waters and later pronounced dead. Sixteen others were successfully rescued, but the accident also claimed the life of a canine companion aboard the ship.

The gathering was a heartfelt one, meant to honor the memory of a departed family member by scattering their ashes in the beloved waters of San Francisco Bay—a poignant tradition marred by unforeseen tragedy.

San Francisco Fire Department and Coast Guard crews search San Francisco Bay near Alcatraz after boat capsize

Search operations persist as San Francisco Fire Department and U.S. Coast Guard teams tirelessly comb through San Francisco Bay’s vast expanse. Since the alarming event on July 15, 2026, when a recreational boat met its end near Alcatraz Island, hope endures as the community awaits any sign of the missing three. “Suspending an active search is one of the most difficult things we do as Coast Guard commanders,” Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Commander Capt. Jarod Toczko said during a Wednesday news conference. “Our goal is always to bring home families’ loved ones.”

Toczko said crews searched for about 23 hours using 11 surface vessels and four aircraft, covering roughly 950 square nautical miles and more than 1,700 miles of search track before determining there was little likelihood of finding additional survivors. Families of the missing were notified before the search was suspended.

Officials said the boat was struck by a wave, listed heavily, lost stability and rolled over before sinking. Toczko said investigators found no evidence of the fire initially reported by callers, concluding that what was thought to be smoke was likely steam from the sinking vessel.

Authorities said the vessel had three enclosed levels, and survivor interviews indicated some passengers had been inside the main and lower decks when the boat capsized. Toczko said it remains possible some of the missing passengers became trapped inside as the vessel sank, though he stressed investigators have not reached any conclusions.

The San Francisco Fire Department said three survivors were transported to local hospitals and later released, while 13 others were treated at a reunification center after being rescued. Fire Chief Dean Crispen confirmed that one person and one canine died in the incident.

Officials believe the boat rests in waters roughly 130 feet deep near where it went down. San Francisco police said crews first must locate the vessel before using an underwater drone to assess whether it can safely be recovered. Divers generally cannot operate safely at depths beyond 120 feet, officials said.

Toczko credited Good Samaritans, including nearby fishermen and other boaters, with helping save lives before emergency crews arrived.

“Those folks saved lives,” he said.

Officials said the recreational vessel departed from the area near San Francisco’s St. Francis Yacht Club and had visited Angel Island before the emergency occurred while returning across the bay. The cause of the sinking remains under investigation.

2026-27 NBA Power Rankings: Will the Knicks Defend Their Crown?

0

The NBA offseason is rapidly winding down, with most free agency activity wrapping up apart from the much-anticipated decision of LeBron James’ next team. The draft event has already come and gone, and we’ve seen several top-tier players, including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jaylen Brown, make significant moves to new teams.

Zach Braziller of The Post has taken a closer look at the current state of the league, providing a comprehensive ranking of all 30 teams as they gear up for the upcoming season.

True title contenders

1. Oklahoma City Thunder

At the top of the list, the Oklahoma City Thunder reign supreme, provided they can stay healthy. Their performance in the recent Western Conference finals against the Spurs was impressive, even though key guards Ajay Mitchell and Jalen Williams were either sidelined or playing through limitations. Despite these setbacks, the series stretched to the limit, showcasing the Thunder’s resilience.

2. New York Knicks

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks are opting for stability after clinching their first championship in over half a century. The only major change is Andre Drummond stepping in as the backup to Karl-Anthony Towns, replacing Mitchell Robinson. This consistency keeps the Knicks as the dominant force in the Eastern Conference for now.

3. San Antonio Spurs

As for the San Antonio Spurs, their trajectory towards another championship seems like a matter of time. With a young but promising core of Victor Wembanyama, Dylan Harper, and Stephon Castle, they hold potential for a dynasty. The team’s strategic first-round selections of Tarris Reed Jr. and Jayden Quaintance further strengthen their frontcourt depth, providing robust support for Wembanyama.

4. Indiana Pacers

Tyrese Haliburton is back, and so are the Pacers after a nightmarish 19-win campaign. The team that took the Thunder to seven games in the NBA Finals in 2025 will be mostly intact again, aside from Ivica Zubac replacing Myles Turner.

Can play deep into May

5. Toronto Raptors

As long as the Kawhi Leonard trade with the Clippers ultimately goes through, the Raptors have major contending potential. The 35-year-old Leonard is still a star — when healthy — and he joins a quality nucleus featuring Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl and Immanuel Quickley.

6. Philadelphia 76ers

It’s easy to see the 76ers having a big year, led by the big four of Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. But there are depth and chemistry questions to be answered for this top-heavy roster.

7. Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota had a fascinating offseason headlined by the blockbuster four-team trade that landed the Timberwolves LaMelo Ball and sent Naz Reid to the Hornets. Ball and Anthony Edwards could be terrific together — or a disaster. This is a boom-or-bust roster that no longer includes Julius Randle and will likely feature Jaden McDaniels as a small-ball four.

8. Boston Celtics

The Celtics got better on the interior with the addition of Robinson, but worse on the perimeter after the Brown trade. Jayson Tatum should be able to recapture his superstar form after returning from his torn Achilles tendon last season, but does he have a suitable wingman now that Brown is in Philadelphia?

9. Atlanta Hawks

Nobody gave the Knicks more issues in the playoffs than the Hawks, who returned their entire young core and had a terrific draft, selecting hard-nosed prospects Kingston Flemings of Houston and Zuby Ejiofor of St. John’s.

10. Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets are basically the same team that couldn’t get out of the first round. After Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, there isn’t much there.

11. Houston Rockets

There is enough talent here to finish in the top half of the West: An All-Star forward (Alperen Sengun), quality point guard (Fred VanVleet), still productive future Hall of Fame wing (Kevin Durant) and on-the-rise young two-way star guard (Amen Thompson).

Pretenders

12. Los Angeles Lakers

It is now Luka Doncic’s team, after LeBron James’ departure. The Lakers have spent a lot this offseason already in bringing back Austin Reaves ($180 million) and signing Walker Kessler ($130M), Quentin Grimes ($60M) and Sandro Mamukelashvili ($52M). But those moves aren’t going to scare the Thunder or the Spurs.

13. Miami Heat

Giannis Antetokounmpo is now in South Beach, joining Bam Adebayo. That duo doesn’t have much help — Tim Hardaway Jr. and Andrew Wiggins aren’t difference makers — and it would be a stretch for the Heat to be considered a legitimate contender.

14. Detroit Pistons

It wasn’t so long ago the Pistons were favored to reach the NBA Finals. Now, after a playoff flop and an underwhelming offseason so far, Detroit may not even be in the top four of the East.

15. Orlando Magic

The Magic seemed primed to upset the top seed in the first round before Franz Wagner suffered an ill-timed calf injury. Orlando didn’t let that deter them from making a change at coach, hiring highly regarded Spurs assistant Sean Sweeney to replace Jamahl Mosley. That was the big change for the Magic.

16. Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland’s offseason is all about bringing back LeBron James. They let valuable forward Dean Wade walk in free agency and haven’t done much to upgrade after they were swept out of the Eastern Conference finals by the Knicks.

Play-in potential

17. Phoenix Suns

The additions of Miles Bridges and Luke Kennard provide offensive oomph, and the Suns also retained center Mark Williams along with guards Jordan Goodwin and Collin Gillespie.

18. Portland Trail Blazers

Ja Morant and Damian Lillard are now part of the same backcourt mix that also includes Shaedon Sharpe. Deni Avdija is coming off a breakout season (24.2 points, 6.7 assists) and Donovan Clingan has shown potential as a rim-protecting court-spacer in the middle. Potentially fun team.

19. Utah Jazz

After four straight losing seasons, Utah may be ready to at least contend for a playoff berth. The second overall pick in the draft, Darryn Peterson, has superstar potential, and Jaren Jackson Jr. and Lauri Markkanen could be dynamite together in the frontcourt.

20. Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte improved its frontcourt with the addition of Naz Reid, but got worse at point guard in losing LaMelo Ball. The Hornets, coming off their first winning season in four years, are betting big on Coby White to fill that void.

21. Washington Wizards

Say this for the Wizards: They’ll at least be worth checking out. Experienced veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis are joined by the No. 1 overall pick in AJ Dybantsa. Will this result in Washington’s first winning season since 2017-18? It can’t be discounted.

22. Golden State Warriors

Like the Cavaliers, the Warriors’ offseason hinges on LeBron James. Steph Curry and Draymond Green aren’t getting any younger, and Golden State hasn’t done anything so far to add to a 37-win team.

23. Dallas Mavericks

The big moves in Dallas aren’t player-related. They included hiring Masai Ujiri as the new team president and bringing in Michigan’s Dusty May as new head coach.

Enjoy the lottery

24. New Orleans Pelicans

How long do Trey Murphy III and Zion Williamson remain in New Orleans? The Pelicans have two trade chips that could land them a ton of draft picks.

25. Chicago Bulls

Top draft pick Caleb Wilson has been one of the stars of the NBA Summer League, an exciting young forward who the Bulls and new coach Tiago Splitter hope to build around.

26. Brooklyn Nets

A starting five of Michael Porter Jr., Julius Randle, Day’Ron Sharpe, Egor Dëmin and Mikel Brown Jr. is intriguing, and sure beats the tanking rosters general manager Sean Marks has given Nets fans the last two seasons.

27. Sacramento Kings

The Kings have reached the playoffs just once in the last 20 years, and have lost at least 50 games 10 times in that span. Expect the losing to continue next year.

28. Memphis Grizzlies

This is now Cameron Boozer’s team. The third overall draft pick is the face of the franchise after it sent Ja Morant to Portland. Patience will be required.

29. Los Angeles Clippers

After a decade and a half of contention, the Clippers are rebuilding. Hey, at least the Intuit Dome is cool.

30. Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks are rebuilding after sending Antetokounmpo to Miami, ending what felt like an eternity of rumors involving the two-time MVP’s future. Get used to the lottery, Milwaukee.

Teen Driver Boasts Before Striking 84-Year-Old: ‘I’ve Just Bought This Beast

0

A young driver full of bravado bragged to his buddy about acquiring a powerful ride and frequently ignoring traffic signals, shortly before he ran over an elderly pedestrian.

Sonny Horsfall, just 18, found himself out of control in his recently purchased Audi A4, veered off the road and tragically collided with 84-year-old Eddie, who was out for an evening stroll on April 22.

Incredibly, following this devastating incident, Horsfall chose not to stop or even attempt to assist the gravely injured Eddie, who lay helpless on the sidewalk.

Rather than act responsibly, he went on to order a pizza from a nearby takeaway and sent a voice message to a friend claiming he’d just ‘smashed’ into someone.

The aspiring chef messaged with indifference, saying, ‘I just went skid up the kerb. F*** knows what I hit. Sorry bro, I am eating a pizza.’

He continued: ‘Bro, the man got smashed. Like bro, I think I have killed him, me bro, wow.’

Horsfall also said he had ‘ripped the f****** key out in panic’ and ‘ran two houses down’ after the harrowing collision, which was caught on CCTV.

The victim, Eddie, suffered multiple pelvic fractures and fractures to his back and right foot during the collision in Redcar, North Yorkshire.

He was placed in intensive care for almost a week after his condition deteriorated.

A court heard Horsfall, of Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, was disqualified from driving and was uninsured at the time he began dangerously driving around Redcar in his new car.

He had owned the vehicle for a matter of hours before the collision and was caught on camera recklessly driving around the area by speeding, dangerously overtaking other cars and running red lights.

He also filmed several videos while driving that were later discovered by police.

In one video, the teenager filmed himself driving and said: ‘I’ve just bought this beast’ and ‘smoke ’em boy’. In another, he bragged: ‘F*** this red light, you’re getting dusted’ as he ran through traffic lights.

Horsfall then mounted a pavement on West Dyke Road and hit Eddie, who had just left a local pub and was walking home. Members of the public later came to Eddie’s aid and he was rushed to hospital.

Just two hours later, Snapchat messages captured the remorseless teen telling a friend: ‘I went skid up the kerb, sorry bro I’m just eating a pizza, I’m having a takeaway mate.

‘Brother a man got smashed bruv. Like bad, he’s bad. I think I’ve killed him, wow.’

He was arrested the following day after police found him in Malton, North Yorkshire.

Horsfall pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and with no insurance, and failing to stop after a road traffic accident.

He was jailed for three years and banned from driving for four years at Durham Crown Court on Wednesday.

After major surgery, Eddie – who was once completely independent – still suffers from leg pain and is slowly recovering. He can now walk a short distance using a walking frame.

In a victim impact statement, Eddie told the court: ‘Since the incident, I find myself questioning whether I will ever feel truly safe again, even when walking on the pavement.

‘This incident has caused devastating physical injuries, but its impact goes far beyond the injuries themselves.

‘It has taken away my confidence, my sense of safety, my independence, and, to a large extent, my dignity.

‘The loss of my independence and dignity is something I struggle to come to terms with every day.’

Eddie’s daughter, Carol, said: ‘Even now, I still struggle with what happened. I do not sleep properly and frequently find myself reliving the events of that night.

‘I constantly worry about my dad’s future and what lies ahead for him. There remains so much uncertainty regarding his long-term recovery and whether he will ever regain the independence he once enjoyed.’

Detective Constable Rachael Johnson, from Cleveland Police, said: ‘This was a shocking and wholly avoidable collision which has left an 84-year-old man with serious injuries while simply walking home on the pavement.

‘Sonny Horsfall mounted the pavement striking the victim and rather than remaining at the scene to assist an elderly man who had suffered serious injuries, he chose to think only of himself.

‘He fled the scene, went to an associate’s address nearby and ordered himself a pizza.

‘The circumstances of this case demonstrate a complete disregard for the safety of others.

‘Sonny Horsfall was uninsured, did not hold a driving licence and had been observed driving dangerously shortly prior to the collision.’

‘It is hoped the sentence handed to Sonny Horsfall today serves as a clear reminder of the consequences of disregarding the rules of the road.

Detective Johnson added: ‘Driving is a privilege and a responsibility, not a right. Anyone who gets behind the wheel without a licence, without insurance, or who drives recklessly is placing innocent members of the public at risk.

‘The outcome of this case could easily have been fatal.

‘We remain committed to pursuing those who choose to endanger others on our roads and ensuring they are held fully accountable for their actions.

‘I would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with the investigation, as well as those who stopped to provide aid and support to the victim at the scene.

‘Our thoughts remain with Eddie and his family as he continues his recovery.’

Tragic Collision: 20-Year-Old Receives Decade-long Sentence for Fatal Accident

0

From Our Staff Correspondent

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Clayton Deneal Wamsley, age 20, has received a sentence of 10 years in prison with an additional two years of probation. This sentence follows his no contest plea to charges of vehicular homicide in the tragic case involving Matthew Umanos, who lost his life in January 2025.

The Gainesville Police Department’s detailed investigation revealed that around 5:41 p.m. on January 2, 2025, Wamsley was heading northbound on NE 7th Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign at NE 16th Avenue, tragically striking Umanos as he was in the crosswalk. The impact sent Umanos flying approximately 124 feet, where he landed painfully against a cement culvert. He was rushed to UF Health Shands, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Tragically, Umanos’s pet dog was also hit in the accident.

Upon law enforcement’s arrival, Wamsley was found trapped inside his vehicle. Authorities discovered he possessed only an identification card, never having obtained a valid driver’s license.

After being read his Miranda rights, Wamsley reportedly shared that he had been in distress and contemplating self-harm while at home on NE 6th Terrace. Seeking distraction, he drove a short distance away. Traveling northbound on NE 7th Street, he was distracted by a text message and lifted his phone to read it. As he raised his eyes, he noticed the stop sign too late, saw Umanos, and swerved left in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid the collision. He expressed deep remorse for the incident.

A victim impact statement from Umanos’s mother described his involvement in the community: she said he worked for GACAR, served on a charity that helps find affordable homes for people, spoke with local officials about issues, and “brought joy to all who met him.” She wrote that Umanos’s brother, who had been visiting from New York City and was walking with Umanos at the time of the accident, had a stroke eight days later and now lives with his mother.

On July 14, Wamsley entered a plea of nolo contendere to charges of vehicular homicide and driving without a valid driver’s license; a charge of careless operation of a motor vehicle with no license, resulting in death, was dropped. According to the plea document, the maximum sentence for the charges is more than 24 years in prison.

Judge Robert Groeb sentenced Wamsley to 10 years in state prison with credit for 525 days served, followed by two years of probation, for the vehicular homicide charge; Wamsley was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with credit for 60 days served, for driving without a valid license.

Other conditions include restitution of $25,000 to an insurance company; following any treatment recommended after a drug, alcohol, and mental health evaluation; abstaining from alcohol and illegal drugs; random urine testing; and a permanent suspension of his driver’s license.
