Controversy Over Bias Claims Fuels Debate as Little Italy Fades from NYC Immigrant Map

0

Being a descendant of Italian heritage on both sides of my family, I find it disheartening to suspect our mayor may not hold Italy—or its people—in high regard.

Unsurprisingly, the same individual who once displayed contempt for a Columbus statue during his radical activism days has now introduced a controversial map of New York City. This map seemingly erases any representation of Italian communities, ignoring well-known areas like Arthur Avenue, Little Italy, and Staten Island.

I cannot pinpoint what exactly occupies Zohran Mamdani’s thoughts.

Perhaps he was never able to secure a reservation at the coveted Rao’s restaurant before his tenure as mayor, or maybe a disappointing slice of pizza led to this perspective.

Nonetheless, I believe the root of his indifference toward individuals like myself is more nuanced than mere ethnic bias.

It involves his broader worldview, something called cultural Marxism, which defines the Italian American experience here in New York and elsewhere as a lie.

More From Charles Gasparino

Yes I know, the Marxism usually associated with our mayor is of the economic variety: demonizing the rich, government-owned grocery stores, free buses, higher taxes to provide more welfare support to migrants here legally or illegally.

He boasts about replacing “the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.”

Go deeper into what makes Mamdani tick — his past musings about wealth, the radicals he’s appointed to various positions, his academic training in Africana Studies and his far-leftist, critical-theorist Columbia professor father, Mahmood Mamdani  — and you’ll understand that collectivism is only part of what animates our mayor.

He holds a worldview that divides Americans into tribes based not on Marx’s classic interpretation (which would be class), but on race.

Under the theory of cultural Marxism, all things are oppressor versus oppressed.

It ignores swaths of history in favor of grievance against Western civilization — the ultimate oppressor of the Third World, the historically oppressed.

Hence you have one mayoral appointee calling homeownership a “weapon of white supremacy” that the government should seize.

Another, his chief equity officer no less, mused on social media about her disdain for white liberal women (they apparently can’t overcome their whiteness) and how government should “tax these people to the white meat.”

The mayor’s wife apparently believed that the Oct. 7 massacre of innocent Israelis involved a “mass rape hoax.”

The mayor himself has never disavowed “globalize the intifada,” the rallying cry of cultural Marxism that aims at wiping Israel off the map.

How have Italians — particularly most Italian Americans, who descend from an economically backward area of Europe — or Jews — who have faced centuries of persecution — fallen afoul of this ideology?

For Jews it’s the success of Israel, both economically and in defending itself against decades of invasions and terrorism from the allegedly oppressed people the cultural Marxists say need defending.

For Italians, I think the lefty beef comes from a different place: anger that they never fell for the oppression narrative.

Most came here from the impoverished south of Italy, the Mezzogiorno region, around the turn of the last century.

They were offered no welfare (or Obamacare) and they weren’t considered “white” by the standards of the time.

Consider the background of Yankee great Yogi Berra, who grew up in the Italian enclave of St. Louis known as “Dago Hill.”

When his parents came to America, George Will wrote in Berra’s obituary, “an 1895 advertisement seeking labor to build a New York reservoir said whites would be paid $1.30 to $1.50 a day, ‘colored’ workers $1.25 to $1.40, and Italians $1.15 to $1.25.”

But they prospered nonetheless.

My grandfather and uncles helped build the city subway system.

Years later, my father gained entry to the very union that had denied membership to my grandfather because of the vowel at the end of our name.

My paternal grandfather grew up in the Italian-American ghetto known as East Harlem, my mom’s side in Little Italy, my parents in Bronx.

They were poor Italian neighborhoods that became working class (left off Mamdani’s map, of course) not just because of preference, but also because of redlining.

Yet we all became “Americans” — and were better off for it.

My father served in the Marines, went to trade school and saved to own a home.

I went to graduate school; my brother is an MD and PhD who runs a New York City hospital.

DEI didn’t aid our ascent.

If you rewrite that history of Italian-Americans, if you cleanse their story from the history books, you can start a whole new one from the ashes,

That’s what the cultural Marxists are aiming for. Don’t let them.

U.S. and Iran Reignite Dialogue Amid Tensions: No Return to Ceasefire

0

President Donald Trump has decided to engage in further negotiations with Iran, while simultaneously asserting that the truce between the two nations has officially ended.

Since last month, there have been no direct discussions between Iran and the United States.

Despite this, reports from Iranian media indicate that a delegation from Qatar, acting as a mediator, has arrived in Tehran following another exchange of strikes between the opposing sides this week.

Only three weeks have passed since the US and Iran signed a “memorandum of understanding” aimed at transforming a protracted ceasefire into lasting peace. The recent consecutive days of renewed hostilities threaten to escalate into full-scale regional conflict.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has requested that we resume ‘talks.’ While we have agreed to this, the United States has made it crystal clear that the ceasefire is no longer in place,” Trump stated on Truth Social on Saturday.

At a NATO summit this week, Trump initially declared the ceasefire over, saying of Iran: “It’s just a waste of time dealing with them.”

US and Iranian delegations have held one round of direct talks in Switzerland since signing their agreement, as well as indirect negotiations in Qatar.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will travel to Oman on Sunday for talks on bilateral relations and regional developments, particularly the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported.

Strait of Hormuz sticking point

The US is demanding Iran publicly state it will stop attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz and that all lanes in the strait will be open to shipping with no tolls, senior US officials said on Saturday.

Iran has adamantly refused to give up control of the strait, the strategic waterway through which a fifth of the world’s oil supply typically flows.

US officials said conversations between the two countries had been productive in recent days. They made the comments to a small group of reporters in a conference call.

“They’re either going to give us that statement or we’re not having a good outcome for them,” one official said.

Iran has told the US that recent attacks on shipping in the strait were from “an errant part of their system,” one senior official said.

There appears to be a power struggle unfolding in real time between hardliners in Iran and pragmatists, another official said.

Three Qatari and Saudi commercial tankers came under fire this week, prompting the US to hit Iranian sites, and Iran to respond with strikes on US military sites in Gulf states.

The fundamental demand from the US side is that Iran turn over its nuclear materials. Iran is believed to possess more than 400kgs of highly enriched uranium, which Trump and other US officials refer to as “nuclear dust.”

The nuclear issue is supposed to be dealt with under the 60-day period for negotiations laid out in June’s memorandum of understanding.

“I just want to be clear here that if we don’t get the dust, we do not have a deal with Iran,” one official said.

The official said “we have a lot of options” if Iran refuses, including military and economic options.

Ramping up sanctions

The US issued new Iran-related sanctions on Saturday targeting a key financier for Iran’s new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, and 13 other individuals and entities, the US Treasury Department said.

The sanctions took aim at Ali Ansari, an Iranian banker and businessman based in Dubai who had previously been sanctioned by Britain for his role in financially supporting the activities of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and other entities, Treasury said.

Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control also targeted three Iran-based exchange houses and foreign “front companies” that it said moved billions of dollars annually on behalf of sanctioned Iranian banks, using layers of shell companies to obscure the government’s illicit activity.

The sanctions were announced on a day of relative calm after a week of renewed conflict.

Iran has said it is ready for “all-out defence” if the US violates the memorandum of understanding. Its top negotiator, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, vowed on Telegram that the war would never end with Iran’s surrender.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to RSVP ‘Yes’ for Kansas City Chiefs Wedding

0

On Friday, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made their debut as a married couple, marking a special moment in their blossoming relationship.

Both 36, the celebrated singer and the NFL star graced the wedding of Kelce’s former Kansas City Chiefs teammate, JuJu Smith-Schuster, just days after their own lavish $50 million ceremony held at Madison Square Garden.

The couple showed their support for Smith-Schuster as he married Laura Kruk at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, California, as reported by Page Six.

Taylor Swift turned heads in a strapless pink brocade gown complemented by her iconic red lipstick, while Travis Kelce looked dashing in a classic grey suit.

The newlyweds were seen entering the ceremony hand-in-hand, exuding joy in their newlywed glow.

A number of Kelce’s Chiefs teammates, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wife Brittany, are also expected to be in attendance.

Smith-Schuster, who now plays for the New York Giants, and his bride, fitness influencer Laura Kruk, were guests at Swift and Kelce’s wedding n July 3.

Kruk unfortunately ended up suffering an embarrassing wardrobe clash, wearing the same $795 Sau Lee silky brown dress as Swift’s childhood best friend Abigail Anderson Berard.

Swift and Kelce’s attendance on Friday comes exactly one week after they celebrated their own love in their wedding extravaganza in New York City.

The couple exchanged 20-minute vows in front of a star-studded guestlist that included almost all of Kelce Chiefs teammates.

Following the blockbuster celebration, the three-time Super Bowl winner and pop sensation jetted off from New York to enjoy ‘complete privacy’ over the July 4th weekend and the past few days at the ultra-exclusive Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana.

They were spotted touching down in California on Thursday when Swift’s private jet flew from Montana to Bob Hope International airport in Burbank, California.

Daily Mail footage captured dozens of umbrellas opening to conceal the couple as they disembarked the plane. The hidden figures then entered a convoy of cars, which appeared to whisk Swift and her new hubby off to her Beverly Hills mansion, 15 miles away.

Smith-Schuster’s wedding is expected to be a brief hiatus from Swift and Kelce’s romantic honeymoon.

After the wide receiver’s nuptials, Swift and Kelce are expected to depart for the main leg of their honeymoon tour, with reports suggesting island-hopping around Greece and wider Europe might be on the cards.

Exclusive Daily Mail footage showed how the New York arena had been transformed into a fairytale wonderland, complete with life-sized trees, a towering castle-like structure and elaborate floral arrangements, which alone are said to have cost around $5million.

Among the more than 1,000 guests packed into MSG were Selena Gomez, Ed Sheeran, Bradley Cooper and Dakota Johnson. Adam Sandler officiated and Paul McCartney performed at the reception.

Kelce and Smith-Schuster are no longer teammates, with the wide receiver recently leaving Kelce and the Chiefs to sign for the New York Giants.

However, they appear to have remained close friends with Kelce even celebrating Smith-Schuster’s Giants signing on social media.

Smith-Schuster won a Super Bowl alongside Kelce, back at the end of the 2023 season with the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles, who had Jason Kelce on their team.

After that victory, Smith-Schuster briefly joined the New England Patriots and Kelce was unhappy with the Chiefs letting him leave.

Smith-Schuster only spent a season in New England before returning to the Chiefs.

While the wideout and the majority of the current Chiefs roster received an invitation to Kelce’s wedding extravaganza last week, not everyone made the cut.

A Chiefs player has told the Daily Mail that the wedding invite drama has sparked locker-room chaos within Kelce’s team – with the apparent decision not to invite the controversial kicker Harrison Butker in particular having led to snipy text messages in various group chats between teammates.

Butker, a devout Catholic and outspoken Trump supporter who has won three Super Bowls alongside Kelce, gave a memorably divisive commencement speech at the Benedictine College in Kansas in 2024.

He referred to pride month as ‘a deadly sin’ and suggested women might consider prioritizing being a ‘homemaker’ over a career.

At the time, Kelce said he disagreed with Butker’s views. Swift, of course, is an outspoken Democrat and Trump critic.

Now the Chiefs player, who asked to remain anonymous, says: ‘It’s really their wedding and I understand why they wouldn’t have invited [Butker]. But there’s some difference of opinion [between players]. Lots of texts are going around the team and some people who are close to Harrison feel like he was snubbed.

‘The general idea was that there was a blanket invite for the team, but [every other player] received something individually. If Harrison had really wanted to come, he probably could have. But they’re not close, so… he wasn’t going to go, even if he had been invited.’

As a result, the Chiefs player added: ‘There’s now a lot of gossip going on. Training camp [for the new NFL season] starts in three weeks and it’s going to be a whole thing. A lot of guys want it to be drama [between Butker and Kelce]. They just like that s**t… a couple of the guys are being messy and texting Harrison to see what he thinks. We’re like a high school team sometimes.’

It is unclear if Butker received an invitation to Smith-Schuster’s wedding ceremony.

Furthermore, after Thursday night’s more intimate rehearsal dinner – also held at MSG but for only 100 of the couple’s nearest and dearest – the Daily Mail exclusively reported how some of Kelce’s NFL ‘circle’ had been left upset.

‘Not everyone on the team has the same invite,’ a source said, adding that certain players had been disappointed to discover they had been left out of the more intimate Thursday dinner, and only invited to Friday’s blowout.

Then on Monday, Taylor Lewan and Will Compton, ex-NFL players turned podcasters and, so they thought, good friends of Kelce, poured fuel on the fire by publicly outing themselves as two ‘snubbed’ pals who had not even been invited to Friday’s event.

Compton said he is ‘flabbergasted’. Lewan wondered if the exclusion was ‘a personal shot’ fired by Kelce.

Celebrate with Sheinelle Jones: Heartfelt Birthday Tribute to Her Twins at 14

Sheinelle Jones began her day with a heartfelt celebration.

The Today With Jenna & Sheinelle host marked the 14th birthday of her twins with late husband Uche Ojeh, Clara and Uche, by sharing cherished throwback photos along with a heartfelt tribute.

“Fourteen years ago today, our lives changed forever,” Jones noted on Instagram on July 10, accompanying an image from her pregnancy. “It was a two-for-one special!”

The dedicated journalist—who is also the mother of 16-year-old Kayin—shared a series of photos chronicling her kids’ journey from infancy to their current ages.

“I vividly recall placing the twins at the end of my hospital bed, gazing at them in wonder in their tiny onesies,” the 48-year-old journalist reminisced. “In the fifth photo, their dad had traditional outfits made for their church dedication; and looking at the ninth picture, their preschool graduation feels like it happened just yesterday.”

Despite living so much life together, the Through Mom’s Eyes author admitted she can’t believe she already has three high school-aged kids.

Apple Martin Mirrors Gwyneth Paltrow in Her Debut Movie Appearance

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, especially when it comes to Apple Martin.

The daughter of acclaimed actress Gwyneth Paltrow is set to venture into the film industry, making her debut in Nancy Meyers’ highly anticipated project, “Paris Paramount.” It seems that talent runs in the family as Apple steps into the spotlight.

Recent photos from the movie’s production reveal Apple Martin capturing the essence of her illustrious mother. On the set, she was seen in the company of co-stars Owen Wilson, Rich Sommer, Erin Doherty, and Tony Hale, fully embracing her new role.

In the images captured, Martin, who proudly graduated from Vanderbilt University this past May, is seen donning an orange sweater with stylish flared denim jeans, strolling through a scenic outdoor shoot in Los Angeles.

While details about her character remain under tight wraps, the film boasts an impressive ensemble, including Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, and Beverly D’Angelo, promising an intriguing narrative and captivating performances.

The movie also serves as a connect-the-dots moment Martin, as fans may recall Wilson and Paltrow co-starred in “The Royal Tenenbaums” — a full 25 years ago in 2001.

Paltrow also famously dated Wilson’s brother, Luke, from 2001 to 2002 after they met while filming the Wes Anderson movie.

Not much is known about “Paris Paramount.”

However, in 2023, Myers gave a brief synopsis of the film via Instagram when she told her followers the film “is about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do.”

The movie is expected to premiere December 2027.

While this is Martin’s first major acting project, she’s not fully a stranger to being in front of a camera. The 22-year-old has long made waves as a rising fashion model and has appeared in a number of major campaigns.

In May, she unveiled her latest campaign with Chloé, which featured summer florals and effortless eyelet sets.

“What an absolute honor to get to work with Chloé,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “It is a dream come true!!!!!!!”

In addition to the Chloé ad, Martin has also landed other major shoots and collaborated with fashion brands.

The up-and-coming talent also made a cameo in HBO’s “Rooster,” starring Steve Carell, in March.

Prosecutors Pursue Death Penalty for Deported Immigrant Charged in Sister-in-Law Murder

0

In a grave legal development, prosecutors are pushing for the death penalty in the case of an illegal immigrant accused of a heinous crime in Florida. The individual in question, having previously been deported, allegedly murdered a Florida woman and subsequently sought refuge in a sanctuary city.

This case involves 44-year-old Shahidul Islam, a Bangladeshi national. On Wednesday, he was formally charged by a grand jury in Lake County, Florida. The indictment accuses him of premeditated first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of his sister-in-law, Monica Islam, on May 2, 2025.

The tragic series of events began on the same day authorities noted Monica Islam as missing. She was last seen heading toward Shahidul Islam’s vehicle. Later, her body was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head by the roadside, unveiling the grim reality of her murder, as detailed by State Attorney Bill Gladson from the Fifth Judicial Circuit.

Critical to the investigation were the online activities of Shahidul Islam on the morning of the incident. Authorities revealed he engaged in numerous searches deemed “suspicious,” adding a layer of suspicion to his actions leading up to the crime.

Shahidul Islam stands accused not only of illegal reentry into the United States after deportation but also of committing a chilling crime against a family member. The indictment against him reflects the gravity of the offense and the pursuit of justice for his sister-in-law’s untimely death.

A search warrant uncovered bloodstains matching Monica Islam’s DNA in Shahidul Islam’s car, along with a bullet lodged in the passenger door and a shattered passenger window.

Following the killing, Gladson said Shahidul Islam rented a car and drove to New York City.

He was later tracked down in a joint effort between local, state and federal law enforcement partners.

After being prosecuted and sentenced for his unlawful entry into the U.S., Shahidul Islam was extradited back to Lake County. He is currently being held without bond at the Lake County Detention Facility.

Gladson’s office announced on Wednesday it is seeking the death penalty, citing the severe nature of the crime and its impact on the victim’s family.

“No family should ever have to endure the pain of such a senseless and horrific act of violence as this one,” Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia wrote in a statement. “Shahidul Islam illegally entered our country after being deported, committed this heinous crime, and then fled to a sanctuary city.”

Ingoglia added Florida “will continue to stand firm against violent crime, sanctuary cities and illegal immigration,” and “will never apologize for putting the safety of law-abiding families first.”

Gladson said that while “no prosecution can restore the life that was taken,” his office intends to “pursue justice on their behalf and hold this offender accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not immediately respond to News Media’s request for comment.

San Francisco’s Foggy Fourth: Fireworks and Facilities Fiasco on Independence Day

0

San Francisco’s Fourth of July celebration this year was expected to be a spectacular event, drawing people from far and wide. Unfortunately, the eagerly anticipated festivities took a surprising turn, proving memorable for all the wrong reasons.

An impressive estimated 100,000 spectators flocked to the city’s waterfront to witness a historic fireworks display launched from the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. However, the grand show turned into a disappointment as thick fog engulfed the display, obscuring the fireworks for much of the night. Alongside the weather, logistical hiccups in transit and sanitation compounded the challenges faced by attendees.

One major issue was the severe shortage of restrooms, which left many in uncomfortable predicaments. With only 127 toilets available, the ratio was a staggering one toilet for every 787 people. This essential shortfall hit particularly hard in the city’s bustling areas where crowds gathered in droves to celebrate.

The National Park Service acknowledged that the restroom deficit considerably affected the Presidio, Marina, and northern waterfront. These were some of the most popular spots for viewing the first-ever Independence Day fireworks launched from the Golden Gate Bridge, marking just the third fireworks display in the bridge’s storied history.

Despite efforts by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area to accommodate the crowds with 27 permanent restrooms and an additional 60 portable toilets, the facilities were far from sufficient. The subpar sanitation situation left many questioning the city’s preparedness for hosting such a large-scale and highly anticipated event.

The City of San Francisco supplied about 40 more portable toilets at Crissy Field and Fort Mason, according to Joshua Winchell, chief of communications and special park uses for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

“These 127 toilets were not nearly enough to support our July 4 visitors,” Winchell told the San Francisco Chronicle. “We will work with the City of San Francisco and our other partners to ensure that enough bathrooms and other resources required for enjoyable park visits will be in place for future large-scale events, such as Fleet Week.”

The bathroom blunder is the latest black eye for what was billed as a once-in-a-generation patriotic celebration.

While the city spared little in staging a first-of-its-kind Independence Day spectacle, the basic logistics failed to keep pace with the massive turnout.

Dense fog rolled over the bay just as the fireworks began, leaving many spectators staring at little more than flashes of light and the lower bursts breaking through the mist after waiting hours for the show.

Longtime locals, however, said none of it came as much of a surprise.

Some residents noted that anyone who has lived in San Francisco for more than a year knows Fourth of July fireworks are a “total crapshoot,” adding that 2025 was an unusual exception with clear skies.

They said the Golden Gate Bridge launch was a unique draw, but that anyone familiar with the city also expected the traffic nightmare and simply planned around it.

Getting home proved to be another ordeal.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency apologized for widespread delays, saying the transit system struggled to absorb an additional 41,000 riders on America’s 250th birthday.

Many attendees reported sitting in traffic, waiting extended periods for buses or walking long distances home.

Mayor Daniel Lurie blasted the transit breakdowns as “unacceptable” and said the city must fix the problems before Fleet Week, another major waterfront event expected to attract huge crowds in October.

An angry San Franciscan left a blunt but honest comment on Lurie’s Instagram post about the Fourth of July festivities: “No wonder everywhere smells like pee. There were almost no restrooms for these crowds!”

Another slammed him as the “worst mayor ever.”

Supervisors Stephen Sherrill and Bilal Mahmood have requested reviews of the city’s planning, including transit service, emergency access and whether autonomous vehicles contributed to the gridlock.

The restroom shortage is also expected to come under scrutiny.

Sherrill, whose district includes the Marina, has called for a hearing before Fleet Week to examine what went wrong and what needs to change before the next major waterfront event.

Industry planning standards suggest the city fell dramatically short.

For a crowd of 100,000 people, widely used Portable Sanitation Association International guidelines recommend about 1,000 toilets for an event lasting up to four hours without alcohol, roughly 1,300 to 1,500 for longer events and 1,500 to more than 2,000 if alcohol is served.

By that measure, San Francisco was short by at least 873 toilets even under the most conservative recommendation.

For a longer event or one serving alcohol, the shortfall climbs to more than 1,373, leaving attendees with less than 13% of the sanitation infrastructure typically recommended for a crowd that size.

Missouri Hit by Historic Rainfall, Leading to Devastating Floods

0

Parts of Missouri find themselves in the grip of a state of emergency as what meteorologists have termed a ‘once-in-a-millennium’ deluge has unleashed catastrophic flooding. The torrential rain has caused rivers to swell to unprecedented levels, resulting in devastating consequences that have collapsed structures, stranded families, and necessitated daring rescues from the swift currents.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood emergency, affecting thousands, while reports from the Reynolds County sheriff’s office indicate that emergency responders have already executed more than 90 water rescues.

The relentless storm system unleashed between six and 12 inches of rain particularly hard-hit areas like the Black River region in southeastern Missouri. As a result, roads have become impassable, campgrounds inundated, and entire communities submerged.

Despite the ongoing rescue operations, officials cautioned that the threat was far from over as evening approached on Friday. River levels were still climbing, and forecasts suggested further flooding was imminent, with the river peaking at a record 28.7 feet that very day.

One of the most striking examples of human perseverance came when approximately 20 people were rescued from peril at the Bearcat Getaway campground. A building there, undermined by the forceful waters, gave way beneath them, plunging campers into the turbulent river.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Eddie Young said the group had climbed onto the structure before it gave way, forcing emergency responders to rescue them from the flood.

The extreme weather also endangered first responders. During one rescue mission, a Missouri State Highway Patrol boat became entangled in a submerged line.

The two troopers aboard were forced to abandon the vessel and enter the floodwaters before both safely made it ashore without injury.

The floods came after several inches of rain fell overnight on Thursday and into the morning across a long swath of central and eastern Missouri.

The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings as thunderstorms piled on the area one after another, explained Matt Beitscher, a lead meteorologist with the NWS office in St. Louis.

‘It’s very, very popular place for recreation,’ said Beitscher of the affected counties.

‘So there are campgrounds there. There are float trip locations there. A lot of vulnerable populations that would be susceptible to flash flooding.’

Dozens were evacuated from multiple campgrounds along the Black River in Lesterville. Some people were forced to climb trees to escape rising floodwaters.

Governor Mike Kehoe declared a state of emergency as the crisis escalated, activating one of Missouri’s urban search-and-rescue teams while National Guard helicopters were dispatched to reach residents cut off by floodwaters.

A family reunification center has also been set up.

Several major roads became impassable, and authorities established a family reunification center as rescue operations continued.

Joe Holt took video of flooding in Lesterville. Footage from the air saw several major roads made impassable due to flooding and damage.

Houses were also flooded in Annapolis, Missouri as rising waters from the creek washed over roads and bridges.

Meteorologists described the deluge as a ‘once-in-a-millennium’ rainfall event, warning that swollen rivers would continue rising even after the rain eased, raising fears that the worst flooding may still be ahead.

Parts of southeastern Missouri have already picked up at least 12.25 inches of rain since Thursday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation Southeast District said Highway 21 in Reynolds County sustained major damage because of the flooding and would be closed until further notice.

There is still a risk of flash flooding early into next week as the weather front continues to move slowly south and east, reports Fox Weather.

Open Heaven 11 July 2026 – Never Outgrow Praise

Open Heaven 11 July 2026 Saturday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Never Outgrow Praise

Open Heaven 11 July 2026 TOPIC – Never Outgrow Praise

MEMORISE: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. – Hebrews 13:15 (KJV)

READ: Psalm 63:3-5 (KJV)

3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ecclesiastes 5-8

Open Heaven 11 July 2026 MESSAGE

One way the enemy cheats many believers is by making them look down on the praise and worship sessions in their churches. Such believers either do not participate in the sessions or wait until they are over before they enter their churches. They think that praising God and dancing before Him is childish, or that they are too spiritually mature to dance and praise Him. In God’s sight, however, we are all children because a thousand years is as a day before Him (2 Peter 3:8). This means that in God’s eyes, nobody on earth today is up to a day old.

Praise is one of the most potent weapons Christians have. Psalm 22:3 says, “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel” This means that your praise attracts God’s presence, and when God visits a place, He does not come empty-handed. He comes bearing gifts, healings, and blessings. When Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah used praise as their weapon, their enemies turned against one another and killed themselves until they were utterly destroyed (2 Chronicles 20:22-24). Some battles can only be conquered when you praise and dance recklessly before God.

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. – Acts 16:25-26

In the Scripture above, Paul and Silas offered a sacrifice of praise to God in prison. God responded by causing a great earthquake that shook the foundations of the prison, opened all its doors, and loosed every prisoner’s chains. No one can praise God wholeheartedly and remain bound. When you praise God with your whole heart, He will arise in His might to help you and bless you.

Beloved, you must never allow yourself to get to a point where you think you have outgrown praise. Michal thought that praising God was beneath her royal status; as a result, she remained childless throughout her life (2 Samuel 6:16-23). Always come before your Father as a child and praise Him with all your heart. In Psalm 50:23, He said that whoever offers praise to Him glorifies Him, and when God is glorified in your life, His beauty will radiate through you and everything that concerns you. I pray that as you praise God, His glory will keep manifesting in your life, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 11 July 2026 KEY POINT

Never outgrow praise because it is dear to God’s heart.

Open Heaven 11 July 2026 HYMN 17 – Praise My Soul, The King Of Heaven

1 Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
to his feet your tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
evermore his praises sing.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King!

2 Praise him for his grace and favor
to his people in distress.
Praise him, still the same as ever,
slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glorious in his faithfulness!

3 Fatherlike he tends and spares us;
well our feeble frame he knows.
In his hand he gently bears us,
rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Widely yet his mercy flows!

4 Angels, help us to adore him;
you behold him face to face.
Sun and moon, bow down before him,
dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace!

In other significant news, a 26-year-old man has been taken into custody under suspicion of murdering Ann Widdecombe. The former British member of Parliament and reality television figure’s sudden death has sent shockwaves through the country.

The 78-year-old Widdecombe was discovered dead in her home, nestled near the scenic Dartmoor National Park in southwest England, on Thursday. According to authorities who spoke to Reuters, she succumbed to severe injuries, leaving the community in a state of mourning.

As the investigation unfolds, the identity of the suspect remains undisclosed, keeping the public on edge as they await further developments.

“This is really shocking news, and my thoughts, I think all of our thoughts, will be with the family and friends of Ann Widdecombe at this awful time,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer said. “Ann was a distinguished politician over many, many years with many achievements, and it’s a huge, huge loss.”

Investigators don’t believe the killing was politically motivated, Devon and Cornwall Police Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman said.

“Our murder enquiry is in its early stages but moving at a significant pace,” Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement.

Starmer said the security of lawmakers was “of the utmost importance,” and urged people to rise above political differences.

Widdecombe served in Parliament, but found fame after leaving office as a contestant on the Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Big Brother reality television shows. She later joined the Brexit Party and became a spokeswoman for the anti-mass migration Reform UK party.

In a post on X, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson called Widdecombe “a heroic Brexiteer and a great speaker who could move Tory audiences to such ecstasy that she was a very hard act to follow.”

Cloud9 Management, which represented Widdecombe for more than a decade, said her life was driven by her “strong Christian values and commitment to public service.”

“She loved the cut and thrust of political debate and, 16 years after leaving Parliament, was still actively campaigning for Reform UK and offering forthright views on the hot topics of the day across numerous radio and television programmes (sic). Ann was a valued patron of many causes, particularly her animal charities,” the company said in a social media post.

In the past decade, two serving British members of parliament have been murdered.

In the midst of the Brexit campaign of 2016, Labour lawmaker Jo Cox was shot and stabbed by a Nazi-obsessed loner. Conservative lawmaker David Amess was fatally stabbed in 2021 by a man inspired by the ‌Islamic State terror group.
