Local Wildlife Tests Positive for Initial Bird Flu Case

0

For the first time, Australia’s wildlife has seen the emergence of the H5 strain of bird flu in a local seabird.

Previously, bird flu cases recorded in Australia were limited to migratory birds arriving from the sub-Antarctic regions.

Agriculture Minister Julie Collins announced that laboratory results verified the presence of this strain in a seabird in Robe, located in south-eastern South Australia.

Additionally, two more cases have been identified in South Australia and one in Western Australia, raising the total number of confirmed instances to 12.

Minister Collins reassured the public by stating there is currently no significant wildlife mortality linked to this virus, nor has there been any indication of it spreading to farm environments.

“While this, of course, is a concerning development, it is not unexpected and is another sign that our strong biosecurity system is working,” Collins said at a press conference on Friday.

“The South Australian Government, who is leading the response on the ground in South Australia, is implementing enhanced surveillance in the area where this bird was found. This will help to establish if there has been further spread of the H5 bird flu.”

The bird in question is a greater crested tern that shared an overlapping coastal range with those migratory seabird species that have previously tested positive for H5.

Another suspected positive in Western Australia is undergoing testing.

“There is no evidence currently of any infection in our poultry or agricultural system and there remains a low risk to human health,” Collins said.

The South Australian government is leading an enhanced surveillance operation around Robe, about 340km southeast of Adelaide, to check for any further spread, while federal experts — including Australia’s chief veterinary officer — continue to monitor the situation.

Officials are urging people not to touch sick or dead birds or wildlife, to keep pets away, and to report unusual bird deaths or behaviour to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Australia prepares for ‘devastating’ impact

Experts have warned Australia must be prepared for the potential “devastating” impact on local wildlife.

”It’s extremely nerve‑wracking,” Dr Carol Booth from the Invasive Species Council told the Australian Associated Press news agency.

“We really need to be prepared for what could be a really devastating time ahead of us,” she said.

The virus was first detected on the Australian mainland on 14 June in a brown skua found at Esperance on Western Australia’s south coast.

Booth said the virus was so versatile it could spread through close contact, contaminated water and even inanimate objects.

It can also jump from birds to scavenging and predatory animals, such as cats, dogs, foxes, raptors and even Tasmanian devils.

Overseas, the H5 virus has ripped through wildlife.

In South America it has been associated with the deaths of tens of thousands of sea lions and southern elephant seals.

”Once it spreads into wildlife, there is probably no hope of containing it,” Booth said.

”Some of our wildlife is so precious and vulnerable that they could be wiped out.”

She warned that colonial seabirds and wetland birds, sea lions and seals, scavengers such as raptors, and very rare species such as the orange‑bellied parrot — with fewer than 100 left in the wild — are especially at risk.

Environment groups and scientists are urging the Albanese government to back a major wildlife resilience package, arguing that surveillance alone will not be enough if H5 becomes established in wildlife.

”The best thing we can do for wildlife is to reduce other threats now so they have the best chance of surviving and recovering from disease outbreaks,” Booth said.

That includes controlling invasive cats and foxes that prey on susceptible native animals, eradicating invasive species from islands, and restoring wetlands to strengthen habitats for aquatic birds.

Russian National Denis Obrezko Pleads Not Guilty to Charges of Hacking U.S. Entities in Cyber Espionage Case

0

A Russian individual accused by US authorities of having ties to Russia’s FSB intelligence service entered a plea of not guilty on Thursday. The charge involves his alleged role in a cyber espionage operation executed by a tech firm targeting Western entities.

Denis Obrezko, who was extradited from Thailand after his capture there in November, entered his not guilty plea during a brief online hearing with a federal magistrate in Boston. This follows his indictment earlier in the week for allegedly conspiring to engage in computer fraud and abuse.

The 36-year-old faces charges stemming from what the indictment describes as a cyber espionage effort linked to the Russian government. The campaign is said to have taken aim at companies in the US and Europe, NATO-aligned European government bodies, and groups backing Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.

According to the indictment, cybersecurity experts have been monitoring the hacking activities, identified as “Void Blizzard” and “Laundry Bear.” These names were also used by Microsoft and Dutch intelligence agencies in May 2025 when detailing a newly detected Russian cyber group.

If convicted, Obrezko could face a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

His lawyer, Max Nemtsev, in an email said he plans “to vigorously contest the charges on both factual and legal grounds.”

According to the indictment, Obrezko had worked at Russia’s Federal Security Service, the domestic intelligence and security agency known as the FSB, from 2012 to ‌2017 before joining technology firm Yutek-NN, where he was a deputy director.

The indictment said that the company conducted cyber espionage campaigns at the behest of the Russian government.

Evidence, including a laptop showing a large sum in cryptocurrency, phones, and passports, is displayed on a bed.

Yutek could not be reached for comment.

The indictment said Obrezko and other employees and associates of Yutek conspired since at least 2023 to extract email and other data from companies’ systems using tools like fake domain names, VPNs and proxy servers.

Victims included a social media network; a US development company; a cloud software company; and a US-based educational institution.

Court filings say the FBI has identified at least 11 US companies that have been hacked, a number it believes to be just a fraction of Void Blizzard’s victims.

According to the indictment, Obrezko’s phone also stored a file containing AI-generated summaries of more than 13,000 stolen emails from members of an Eastern European parliament.

After Microsoft in May 2025 published a report detailing the activities of Void Blizzard, Obrezko corresponded with an unnamed co-conspirator who went by the alias “Ethan Hunt,” the same name as the character Tom Cruise plays in the “Mission: Impossible” movie franchise, the indictment said.

Man Charged with Murder of Student, Father, and Dog Had Prior Connection to Victims

0

According to police statements, the man accused of the heartless slaying of a college student, a father of three, and a dog he was caring for, was previously acquainted with the victims.

Authorities have identified the victims as 22-year-old Jazmine Alexis Bates, a University of Alabama student, and 31-year-old Jose Felix Alvarez-Duenas, a single father with three children. Both were discovered deceased from gunshot wounds in Brookwood, Alabama, this past Monday.

The grim discovery was made during a welfare check at the residence where Alvarez-Duenas was taking care of a friend’s dog, which was also found fatally shot.

Alarm bells rang when 24-year-old De’Kendrick Crawford, the suspect, appeared on footage captured by a doorbell camera following the incident.

Moreover, authorities had already been wary of Crawford due to a prior episode that had caught their attention.

Crawford, knew both victims as well as the primary resident of the home where they were killed through work, according to investigators.

‘We were able to identify who that suspicious person was that was seen on the doorbell cameras,’ Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Captain Jack Kennedy said at a press conference.

‘That person turned out to be an acquaintance of everyone there, including the primary resident, they used to all work together at a local business. They all worked together, they all knew each other and socialized together at some point in the past.’

Despite their connection, police are yet to locate any evidence that could indicate a motive for Bates and Alvarez-Duenas’s deaths. The suspect remains tight-lipped, invoking his right to not speak to detectives.

Crawford was already wanted on an outstanding warrant for allegedly firing a gun multiple times at an occupied office building on the University of Alabama campus.

‘It was found that he already had a felony warrant for an incident last month where he had gotten terminated from a job on campus,’ Kennedy said.

‘He was not a University of Alabama employee. He worked for some type of construction or some other type of company that was contracted at UA.

‘He was terminated from his job out there and as he drove away, fired some shots out the window of a vehicle. Some of those shots struck a building near Coleman Coliseum.’

Crawford managed to evade law enforcement for weeks before the senseless tragedy on Monday, police said.

After an hours-long standoff with police, he was arrested for capital murder of two persons.

Police have described the killings as random, saying that Crawford had little criminal history other than the previous warrant and that people who knew him were surprised by his arrest.

Investigators are searching electronic devices and communications to try to determine a motive. Crawford has maintained his right not to speak with detectives, police said.

Crawford’s alleged victims were found after the owner of the dog Alvarez-Duenas was pet-sitting had been unable to reach him on Sunday night and Monday morning, prompting her to check her home’s surveillance cameras remotely.

Footage showed a man acting suspiciously on her back porch during the early morning hours of that day, so she contacted her landlord, who then requested police investigate.

When officers arrived, they immediately found Alvarez-Duenas’s body upon opening the front door. They searched the rest of the home and discovered Bates’s body in a closet. The dog was also found shot dead inside the home.

Surveillance footage was examined and Crawford was identified as the suspect.

They soon located the suspected murderer at a relative’s apartment. They attempted to get him to leave the home, but he refused.

Officers eventually breached the building and located Crawford hiding in an attic crawlspace.

‘After four hours of tactical operations including drones, tear gas, tactical units – walls, doors being breached and attics being searched with K-9s, yeah, he gave up,’ Captain Kennedy said at a press conference.

‘He gave up only because he cared about himself more than he cared about his victims, and he knew that the guys that we sent up in that attic to get him would defend theirselves [sic] if he did anything,’ Kennedy added.

Crawford was arrested ten hours after his alleged victims’ bodies were found. He is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond, according to the jail’s records, and he has not yet entered a plea.

He has also been charged with firing a gun at an occupied building for his prior outstanding warrant.

Police said that Crawford will likely be hit with multiple other charges as the murder investigation develops.

A spokesman for the University of Alabama said: ‘We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Jazmine Bates after this tragedy. UA staff have contacted her family to offer support.’

A representative for Buffalo Phil’s restaurant, where Bates and Alvarez-Duenas worked together and allegedly met Crawford, said: ‘There are simply no words to express the pain our team is feeling.

‘They were more than employees — they were family. Their kindness, dedication and the joy they brought to our workplace will never be forgotten.’

A GoFundMe was set up to help Bates’s family cover the cost of funeral expenses and transportation arrangements to bring the student’s body to her home city of Chicago.

On the fundraising page, friends and family described the young woman as ‘the kind of person you could always count on, reliable, selfless, and always willing to help anyone in need without hesitation.’ She would have graduated in December.

A GoFundMe was also set up to help Alvarez-Duenas’s family cover funeral costs and provide financial support for his four-year-old, nine-year-old and ten-year-old children, as he was their sole caregiver and provider.

The father was described as ‘the best dad to those babies, always putting their needs first and making sure they felt loved and safe.’

‘He was also the best friend to many, a wonderful son, and a caring brother to his six sisters,’ the fundraiser added. ‘Felix never met a stranger and would help anyone in any way he could, always offering a hand or a kind word to those in need.’

Argentinian Flight Instructor Dies After Jumping Mid-Air, 22-Year-Old Student Successfully Lands Aircraft Alone

0

In an alarming incident over Argentina, a flight instructor tragically died after jumping out of a small aircraft, leaving his student to land the plane solo.

The event unfolded on a Saturday flight, as 42-year-old Leandro Andrés Bertazzo was aboard a two-seat Cessna 150G. According to CNN, drawing from its Argentinian partner TN, Bertazzo suddenly decided to jump mid-flight over the province of Córdoba.

Eduardo Álvarez, director of the Flying Parrot Córdoba flying school where Bertazzo was employed, expressed his shock to TN: “This tragic choice was made with another individual right there in the aircraft. It’s an unimaginable situation, showcasing the complexities of the human mind.”

Rosario, the 22-year-old student pilot, recounted to officials that Bertazzo instructed her with the words, “You know what you have to do, carry on,” before he removed his equipment, opened the aircraft door, and took the fatal leap, as Álvarez reported.

Opening the door of a plane midair is incredibly difficult. Álvarez said it would be akin to trying to open the door of a car traveling 124 miles per hour.

Álvarez said that Rosario managed to land the plane safely, despite being in “complete shock.” There was no damage to the plane, according to TN.

Álvarez noted that Bertazzo had gone on a flight with another student earlier in the day.

Álvarez also told TN that Bertazzo had visited a psychiatric institute, something that was only known by his family prior to his death.

Prosecutors in Córdoba will lead the investigation into Bertazzo’s death. The plane he jumped from is now in police custody.

Nigerian-Born UK Lawyer Baron Reclaims Nigerian Citizenship to Strengthen Ties

A UK-based lawyer of Nigerian descent, widely recognized by the moniker Baron, has formally initiated steps to renounce his Nigerian citizenship. His choice has sparked a significant buzz across various social media platforms.

In a post on his verified X account (previously known as Twitter), the lawyer detailed that his Nigerian attorney had submitted all essential paperwork and made the requisite payments to advance the process.

Baron shared that he is currently in a waiting period, expecting an official response from the Nigerian authorities.

“Today, I received confirmation from my lawyer in Nigeria that my request to renounce my Nigerian Citizenship has been lodged with the SSFG, and all necessary fees have been settled. I’m eagerly awaiting the approval,” he commented.

His announcement swiftly drew a flurry of reactions from Nigerians, with opinions starkly divided regarding his course of action.

One X user, ND Prince, expressed interest in following the same path, writing:

“How do go about it’s, I want my Nigeria citizenship change too.”

Another user, Blackgold, said they understood Baron’s reasons but could never renounce their ethnic identity.

“Honestly, I get your point. I wanted to do the same. The only thing that motivated me against it is that I’ll be renouncing Igboland as well since it’s unfortunately stuck in that useless country. I couldn’t renounce Igbo heritage. I’m too damn proud of it.”

Tammy argued that leaving the country does not solve its challenges, while suggesting that citizens still have a responsibility toward Nigeria.

“Thank God Tinubu does not give a fu*k about things like this, who do you want to clean all this mess if we all run away and renounce our citizenship. We are all citizens of this shithole till I leave this country to join you. Thanks.”

Similarly, Adebayo Daniel acknowledged Baron’s perspective but maintained that he would not give up his roots regardless of the country’s circumstances.

“Mehn I get your point sha and I wish you the best. No matter how horrible Nigeria is and becomes, renouncing my heritage and my ancestral land is something I am highly unlikely to do.”

Another commenter, The Official Mace, described the decision as unfortunate, arguing that it could distance future generations from their cultural identity and family ties.

“This is not good no matter how bad the Country is. You will deny your Children their heritage and will automatically be cut off from their Nigerian Relatives. This is a case of ‘Ama gi eche la’. Not good in Igbo tradition.”

Museum Pays Tribute to Late Artist with 800-Pound Peanut Butter Floor Display

0

In the Netherlands, over 800 pounds of peanut butter have transformed a museum floor into a colossal tribute to a renowned Dutch conceptual artist. This unusual installation commemorates the passing of Wim T. Schippers, who died last month.

Wim T. Schippers, who passed away on June 10 at 83, first introduced the concept of a “Pindakaasvloer,” or peanut butter floor, back in 1969. His creative and unconventional spirit continues to inspire the art world even after his death.

The latest peanut butter floor, celebrating Schippers’ legacy, premiered Thursday at the Depot branch of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam. This exhibit boasts enough creamy spread to make 15,000 sandwiches, underscoring the artist’s enduring impact.

Precision and dedication poured into the installation, as Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen staff spent several days meticulously spreading 40 buckets of peanut butter to an exact thickness of 0.8 inches within a 270-square-foot hexagon.

“It was a lot of work,” admitted Leon Duenk, one of the artisans behind this unique installation, in an interview with the Associated Press. The commitment to detail reflects the team’s respect and admiration for Schippers’ innovative vision.

Schippers, who also voiced Ernie and Kermit the Frog in the Dutch version of “Sesame Street,” created the peanut display as part of a Floor Covering Series, which also included floors covered in glass shards and salt.

“Isn’t it fantastic that we are all standing here looking at peanut butter?” Schippers told reporters at the Central Museum in Utrecht in 1997 during Pindakaasvloer’s second display.

Before his death, the artist and the museum discussed a 20-point plan on how to recreate the nutty exhibit with stipulations that the peanut butter be applied “as smoothly and boringly as possible” and that “no one is supposed to stand in, or lie down on the peanut butter.”

Though Schippers did not specify the size or shape of the work, he preferred smooth peanut butter from the Dutch brand Calvé, which donated 40 tubs for the honorary display.

Multiple visitors stepped on the peanut butter floor when it was on display in 2011.

It was also vandalized in 1997 by a crew of pranksters who placed 12 slices of bread and several bags of hagelslag chocolate sprinkles on the floor.

“It doesn’t look bad,” Schippers told Dutch newspaper Volkskrant at the time. “The sprinkles have been applied with a sense of proportion and a skillful hand.”

The museum — which is now wafting with the nostalgic lunch-box aroma — has a warning at its entrance for visitors with peanut allergies to consider not entering the space.

This year’s Pindakaasvloer will be on display until Sept. 6, according to the museum’s website.

MEMORISE: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: – Colossians 1:27 (KJV)

READ: Acts 16:19-34 (KJV)

19 And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,

20 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.

23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:

24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ecclesiastes 1-4

Open Heaven 10 July 2026 MESSAGE

The first time I visited the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison was in 1975. I went there with an elderly pastor, and we saw a young man playing the piano and dancing joyfully. I asked the elderly pastor whether the young man was about to be released, and he responded that the man didn’t have any hope of being released because he was serving a life sentence. I then asked the pastor why the young man was so joyful despite his circumstances, and he replied that the man was joyful because he had met Jesus Christ while in prison.

Beloved, if you are going through a bad situation, I want you to know that no matter how bad it is, you have a reason to rejoice as long as you have Jesus. Today’s memory verse says that Christ in you is the hope of glory. When Christ is in a fellow, no matter what he or she is facing, such a fellow has hope for a glorious future.

A songwriter once wrote a song that says, “I am glad I belong to Jesus.” Another songwriter wrote, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.” These should be your declarations as a believer, even when the enemy knocks you down. Proverbs 24:16 says that the righteous may fall seven times, but they will surely rise again. This means that negative situations cannot keep you down permanently. When the devil arranged for Jesus’ crucifixion and death, he thought he had won. However, 1 Corinthians 2:8 tells us that if the princes of this world had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Had they known that Jesus’ death would be their utter destruction, they would have tried to prevent Him from dying. In today’s Bible reading, the devil thought he had succeeded in shutting Paul and Silas up by getting them arrested. He didn’t know that God needed them to be in prison so they could show the jailer and his household the way to salvation. The devil’s attempts to make you fall will only lead to God being glorified in your life.

Child of God, are you going through a tough and uncertain situation? Rejoice because Christ in you is your hope of glory. Don’t despair or be discouraged. Rest assured that whatever you are passing through will give God a platform to announce His glory in your life, so long as you remain in Christ. May Christ indeed reveal His glory in your life, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 10 July 2026 KEY POINT

As long as you have Christ in you, you have every reason to rejoice.

Open Heaven 10 July 2026 HYMN 10 – In Christ Alone

1 In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

2 In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless Babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

3 There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For l am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

4 No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From a life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Could ever pluck me from His hand
‘Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand

Iranian Assassination Plot Against Trump Uncovered Amid National Mourning

0

Israeli intelligence has unveiled to the United States an alleged Iranian scheme targeting President Donald Trump’s life, coinciding with Trump’s declaration that the ceasefire between the US and Iran has effectively ended.

Earlier this week, Trump described his adversaries as ‘crazy’ and asserted that ‘they want to take me out,’ though he acknowledged their eagerness to negotiate a deal.

While specifics of the plot were not divulged, Trump conveyed his conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, affirming continued cooperation between the nations, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The White House directed The Daily Mail to refer to Trump’s statements made at the NATO summit in Turkey on Wednesday for comments.

Trump remarked, “They are looking to eliminate the US leader — meaning me. I found out this morning that I’m on all their lists. Up to now, I’ve been somewhat fortunate, but that might not remain the case,” he expressed.

Trump added: ‘These are evil, sick people. And we have to root out that cancer. That cancer. You know what you do? You’ve got to cut out cancer early. And that’s the way I feel.’

The Daily Mail has also reached out to the prime minister for comment.

His warning came as hardline lawmakers in Tehran openly called for missiles to be fired at his location at the summit. Earlier this week, mourners at Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral placed a death bounty on Trump.

The President again brought up his demise during a press conference alongside Marco Rubio and his other top cabinet officials.

While discussing Iran’s leadership, installed after Khamenei was killed in the war, Trump said: ‘They’re gone now. They have another set of leaders. They may be gone.’

‘Who knows? And you know what, I may be gone too because I’m their number one target. It’s out all over the place. I’m the number one, because they’re scum.’

Trump’s comments come after he declared his ceasefire with Iran ‘over’ and unleashed fresh strikes on the regime after Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

During Khamenei’s funeral on Monday, footage from Tehran shows pro-regime demonstrators with posters featuring red crosshairs over Trump’s face, above the seven-word warning: ‘Sooner or later, your heads will roll.’

Other posters showed the faces of JD Vance and Pete Hegseth over a crosshair with the phrase: ‘There will be blood.’

Chants of ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’ rang out across the capital as Khamenei’s coffin was borne through the streets of Tehran.

Iranians were also seen lighting US and British flags on fire while hurling rocks at pictures of Trump. An effigy of Trump being hanged was pictured near the front of the funeral procession.

Khamenei ruled Iran for nearly 37 years before dying in U.S. and Israeli airstrikes that started the war February 28.

He was laid to rest in his hometown of Mashhad early Friday after days of public mourning.

Khamenei is only the second ruler of the nation to be buried in the city. In 1747, Nader Shah was buried there after he was assassinated following nearly 11 years in power.

The funeral processions began Saturday, with authorities shutting down streets, airspace and daily life in Tehran and other cities, as throngs commemorated the man who led Iran with an iron fist for decades while confronting the West.

The regime’s desire to kill Trump goes back to his first term, following the 2020 drone strike the President ordered that killed Revolutionary Guard general Qasem Soleimani.

US intelligence repeatedly warned during his 2024 campaign that Iran was plotting to assassinate him as well as former officials from his first term in revenge for the strike.

Federal prosecutors charged a Revolutionary Guard operative with offering $300,000 to have Trump’s former national security advisor John Bolton murdered on American soil.

Pompeo and one-time Iran envoy Brian Hook were forced to live under round-the-clock government protection.

The President’s apparent musing about his death comes just days before the two-year anniversary of the Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt that nearly took his life.

The Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general released a report last week that found the Secret Service missed 102 radio calls flagging gunman Thomas Crooks on a nearby roof with a long gun and never warned the agents at Trump’s side to get him off the stage.

The would-be assassin was shot at the scene in July 2024.

The confusion and uncertainty in Trump’s mixed messaging and his approval of back-to-back military strikes leave major questions about what comes next in the conflict, just weeks after difficult diplomacy to reach even an initial deal between the longtime adversaries.

The whipsawing rhetoric could be a strategy to increase the pressure on Tehran to stop attacking ships transporting oil and natural gas in the Strait of Hormuz and bend to US demands on its nuclear program — something Trump has tried before.

Whether it is a negotiation tactic or a signal of an escalation in fighting, mediators are scrambling to save the interim deal and the actions risk further inflaming tensions — which could spell problems for Republicans in November’s midterm elections if gas prices stay high.

Trump warned Wednesday that a new round of US attacks was coming, even as he attempted to shrug off suggestions of a return to full-scale war.

Hours later, the military announced it was carrying out new attacks on Iran that were meant to ‘further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.’

‘Anything that happens is going to happen very fast,’ Trump said earlier. ‘We’re not looking for a long time.’

DCLM Daily Manna 10 July 2026 — Consequences Of Trafficking In Idolatry

DCLM Daily Manna 10 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Consequences Of Trafficking In Idolatry

TOPIC: Consequences Of Trafficking In Idolatry (DCLM Daily Manna 10 July 2026)

KEY VERSE: They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods – Isaiah 42:17

TEXT: Isaiah 42:17-25 (KJV)

17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods.

18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the Lord’s servant?

20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.

21 The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.

23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?

24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the Lord, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

It was the author J.C. Ryle in his book, Practical Religion who says, “Beware of manufacturing a God of your own: a God who is all mercy, but not just; a God who is all love, but not holy; a God who has a heaven for everybody, but a hell for none;… such a God is an idol of your own creation. He is not God of the Bible, and aside from the God of the Bible, there is no God at all.” In today’s Bible passage, Prophet Isaiah furthered the prophecy concerning the Messiah’s kingdom typified by that of Cyrus. It hints at the great success of the gospel and the Church, the defeat of the enemies of the Church and the rejection of the unbelieving and Christ-rejecting Jews. The prophecy particularly points out how those who subscribe to idle worship in the face of all these would be ashamed of their stance.

A call is here given to the spiritually blind and deaf Israel, and by extension professing believers and ministers: “Hear ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see”. Those who would remain obstinate and unbelieving would be allowed to suffer the consequences of their sin. This was the case of Israel who violated God’s law and remained misguided even under the correcting rod of God.

Sin has consequence and idolatrous sins have weightier and more lethal consequences. Idolatry is a flagrant affront against the deity of God. He who goes awhoring after any tin god belittles the Almighty as secondary to that which he enthrones in his heart. This act attracts the hot displeasure of God.

If your personality, pursuit, power or possession becomes the primary attraction that distracts you from God, you are digging an abysmal pit for yourself. He who desires to shake off God’s wrath should humbly submit his heart to the Lord. Let God be the sole administrator sitting on the throne of your heart. Only then will you savour the blessings of Christ’s kingdom.
