Tragic End for Missing Teen Marly Kinney After Kentucky Lake Disappearance

The search for Marly Kinney, a teenager from Kentucky who vanished during a boating outing with friends, has come to a tragic end as her body has been found.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has confirmed that the 19-year-old was discovered at approximately 3:45 p.m. on June 28 at Grayson Lake in Carter County.

The exact cause of Kinney’s death remains unknown and is awaiting investigation by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

What Happened to Missing Teen Marly Kinney?

Kinney went missing on the afternoon of June 24 during a boating trip with companions on the lake. She was reported missing when she did not return to the pontoon boat they had rented, officials reported.

According to an arrest citation obtained by Lex 18, the boat’s driver, Cameron Conley, allegedly informed marina staff that he could not locate a woman who had been on his boat.

While speaking with Conley, a Kentucky State Trooper allegedly noticed his eyes appeared bloodshot and detected an odor of alcohol. Conley, 23, allegedly admitted that he had consumed alcohol and underwent a preliminary breath test, which showed he had a blood alcohol content of .137, WKYT reported.

He was arrested for boating under the influence and taken to the Carter County Detention Center.

Meanwhile, authorities launched a massive search effort to try to find Kinney, complete with boats, divers, sonar equipment, helicopters, drones, k-9s and cadaver dogs, according to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

Along with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, the search effort included assistance from the Ashland Fire Department, Grayson Fire Department, Carter County Emergency Management, Boyd County Emergency Management, Elliott County Sheriff’s Office, Elliott County Emergency Management, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Kentucky State Parks rangers, Lexington Fire Department, Sandy Hook Fire Department, England Hill Fire Department and more than 50 local volunteers.

Kinney’s family thanked law enforcement for their ongoing search efforts on June 26, as they remained hopeful that Kinney would still be found alive.

“We are very appreciative of the absolute surplus of support from law enforcement, search and rescue, 1st responders, and all of the community and its volunteers that are here with us and for us searching for Marly,” they said in a statement to WSAZ. “We do not even know how to express our absolute gratitude to you all. We continue to have faith she will be found and brought back to us. We know we have the very best people doing all they can to bring her home.”

Marly Kinney Remembered By Coworkers For “Friendly Smile”

After the teen’s remains were discovered on June 28, she was remembered by the staff at Smokin’ J’s Rib and Brewhouse, where she worked.

“The Smoking J’s Family is saddened by the loss of one of our own, Marly Kinney,” they wrote on Facebook. “Marly was a model employee loved by all. Always with a friendly smile and a kind word.”

They added that grief counselors would be provided to the restaurant’s staff, many of whom had helped in the search effort to try to find her.

“Our love and prayers go out to Marlys family and friends through this tragic loss,” they continued. “We are closed today & tommorow (sic) to allow our team time to mourn the loss of a loved friend.”

Oxygen reached out to the Kentucky State Police for additional comment, but did not receive an immediate reply.

5 Classic Sitcoms You Won’t Believe Haven’t Aged Well

There’s something endlessly appealing about revisiting a classic sitcom. Whether it’s the familiar laugh track or the antics of a beloved ensemble, many of the most enduring TV shows have been situational comedies. Since the days of “I Love Lucy,” audiences have been captivated by the humorous escapades of quirky characters. These sitcoms serve as a delightful comfort to viewers, delivering a satisfying experience time and again. However, not every sitcom manages to retain its charm over the years.

As time progresses, societal attitudes shift, impacting how sitcoms are perceived. While some have gracefully stood the test of time, others feel outdated, much like expired milk. What once elicited laughter might now provoke a wince, not solely due to changing social standards or lack of political correctness, but because humor itself evolves. Comedies must resonate with the spirit of their era, yet what was once cutting-edge can become baffling to modern audiences who question its original appeal.

Presented here are five sitcoms that, despite former glory, are difficult to watch today. This compilation includes shows that dominated the ratings, ran for several seasons, and were repeatedly shown in syndication, on streaming platforms, and available on home media. However, in today’s context, they seem outdated, disconnected, and occasionally offensive. Though celebrated with critical acclaim and awards in their prime, it doesn’t exempt them from making this list now.

According to Jim

“According to Jim” somehow managed to last eight seasons on ABC, defying critical reviews that could have derailed it early on. From 2001 to 2009, audiences routinely returned to this lackluster family sitcom. The issue with “According to Jim” wasn’t just poor quality, but rather it was overly simplistic and lacking in humor.

Jim Belushi takes on the role of Jim, a suburban dad in Chicago who enjoys the blues, beer, and rooting for the Bears. He’s perpetually trying to shirk responsibilities, frequently bickering with his wife, Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith), and her sister, Dana (Kimberly Williams-Paisley). His best friend, Cheryl’s brother Andy (Larry Joe Campbell), often bears the brunt of Jim’s ridicule for being single. Crafty and argumentative, Jim constantly devises ways to dodge chores, sneaking away to sports games or concerts. Despite his antics, he cherishes his wife and their three children, a number that grows to five with the arrival of twins by the eighth season.

The trope of the lazy, stupid, blustering sitcom dad is nothing new. From “All in the Family” to “Everybody Loves Raymond,” some of the funniest sitcoms in TV history have mined laughs from making fun of the man of the house. Yet Jim often comes across as a louse and a bully, and what’s worse is how the show tries to make it seem as if he’s somehow always right, despite constantly being proven wrong.

How I Met Your Mother

Premiering in 2005 and ending in 2014, “How I Met Your Mother” came along right as the multi-cam was falling out of favor. Over the course of nine seasons, the series sought to shake up the soon-to-be-dormant format, using flashbacks, flash-forwards, and quick scenes that broke up the theatrical structure most sitcoms adhered to. Yet in other ways, the show was as traditional as they come, and has aged poorly because of it.

In the year 2030, Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) recounts to his children the story of how he met their mother. Over the course of nine seasons, Ted tells his kids not just about their mother, Tracy (Cristin Milioti), but about his best friends: former roommate Marshall (Jason Segel), Marshall’s wife, Lily (Alyson Hannigan), playboy Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), and the woman Ted secretly loves, Robin (Cobie Smulders). In what is generally considered one of the worst TV finales of all time, it’s revealed that the titular mother — who had only been introduced in season eight — has died, and the entire story was just an excuse for Ted to get permission from his kids to ask out their Aunt Robin.

It isn’t just the finale that left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Looking back now, it’s hard not to feel icked out by Barney’s attitude towards women, or be uneasy about how Lily sometimes plays into nagging wife stereotypes. A critically acclaimed Emmy-winner in its heyday, “How I Met Your Mother” now feels like a product of a bygone era.

That ’70s Show

The 1970s were a glorious decade for music, movies, and television, and there are many ’70s TV shows that laid the groundwork for prestige TV. So it’s more than a little ironic that a series intended to recapture that magical era has been less than influential on modern television. In fact, “That ’70s Show” has become somewhat radioactive in recent years, and for good reason.

Airing from 1998 to 2006, “That ’70s Show” centered on a group of teenagers coming of age during the decade of sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll. Eric Forman (Topher Grace) was the de facto leader of the bunch, which included his girlfriend, Donna (Laura Prepon), his best friend, Hyde (Danny Masterson), dumb guy Kelso (Ashton Kutcher), pretty girl Jackie (Mila Kunis), and foreign exchange student Fez (Wilmer Valderrama). Eric’s strict father, Red (Kurtwood Smith), often threatens to put his foot in an unmentionable part of the human anatomy, while his mother, Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp), acts as a surrogate mom to all of his friends.

There are a myriad of reasons why “That ’70s Show” hasn’t aged well, not least of all because of Danny Masterson’s rape convictions, for which he is currently serving 30 years to life in prison. Even aside from that, the show has some incredibly retrograde attitudes about sex, fat shaming, homophobia, and immigrants, and not necessarily in a way that satirizes attitudes from that era. Things that might’ve seemed funny at the time now come across as creepy and cruel, for more reasons than one.

If you or anyone you know has been a victim of sexual assault, help is available. Visit the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network website or contact RAINN’s National Helpline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673).

Three’s Company

If ever there was a show where the entire premise falls apart today, it’s “Three’s Company.” Radical in its time, the show aired for eight seasons between 1977 and 1984, surviving multiple cast shakeups and a rapidly changing culture. Yet what was considered bold and boundary-pushing at the time now feels outdated and retrograde.

In the pilot of “Three’s Company,” roommates Janet Wood (Joyce DeWitt) and Chrissy Snow (Suzanne Somers) need someone to fill an empty room in their Santa Monica apartment. When Jack Tripper (John Ritter) wakes up in their bathtub after a party, he agrees to move in. But the landlord, Mr. Roper (Norman Fell), doesn’t want unmarried men and women living together, so Jack pretends to be gay, a secret that Mrs. Roper (Audra Lindley) keeps from her husband. Eventually, the Ropers are spun off into their own show, and Mr. Furley (Don Knotts) takes over. Chrissy also moves out, and is replaced first by her cousin, Cindy (Jenilee Harrison), and then by Terri Alden (Priscilla Barnes).

Suffice it to say, a lot of the elements that made “Three’s Company” work as comedic farce haven’t exactly aged well. Ritter won an Emmy for playing Jack, and excels at the physical comedy his character is often subjected to. Yet the role also calls upon him to play into harmful gay stereotypes, and his attraction to Chrissy often leads to scenes of Somers being sexually objectified, jumping around in tight, form-fitting outfits as the studio audience applauds. Although its intentions were harmless, the execution played as anything but.

Two and a Half Men

Chuck Lorre is among the most prolific showrunners working today, and some of his best TV shows have kept the dying multi-cam format on life support. One of his biggest hits was “Two and a Half Men,” which ran for 12 seasons between 2003 and 2015. In its heyday, it was one of the most profitable shows in history, earning CBS a staggering $155 million per season in ad revenue, and continues to be popular in reruns. But is it good?

Initially, “Two and a Half Men” centered on Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen), a playboy jingle writer whose life suddenly becomes domesticated by the arrival of his newly divorced brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), and his son, Jake (Angus T. Jones). Following Sheen’s very public exit from the series, tech billionaire Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher) buys his Malibu beach house and allows Alan and Jake to stay with him. Several women weave in and out of Charlie and Alan’s lives, including their mother, Evelyn (Holland Taylor), Alan’s ex-wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle), housekeeper Berta (Conchata Ferrell), and Charlie’s crazed stalker, Rose (Melanie Lynskey).

“Two and a Half Men” is a classic men-behaving-badly sitcom, and many laughs are mined from Charlie’s womanizing and Alan’s ineptitude with the opposite sex. As you’d expect, there’s a weird strain of misogyny that runs through many episodes, and even the women who are granted some agency are often portrayed as nagging, vain, or downright psychotic. As the saying often goes, boys will be boys, but that doesn’t mean their antics are always amusing.

Celebrating Nurse Shonna Lane: Continuing a Heartfelt Family Legacy of Care

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — The nursing profession is known for its core values of empathy, quick decision-making, and unwavering patient support. For Shonna Lane, recently honored as Nurse Of The Month, these principles are intertwined with her dedication to preserving a family heritage while contributing to the future of nursing.

Lane continues a family legacy of care and empathy while working at Sycamore Shoals and Franklin Woods Hospitals.

“My mom is a nurse,” she recalled. “I have vivid memories of her work in the emergency department ICU and as a member of the pioneering flight team with Wings Way. She played a pivotal role in that program’s inception, and I was captivated by the stories of her impact. I aspired to follow in her footsteps.”

Lane has forged her own distinguished path, obtaining degrees including a BS, BSN, MSN, and MBA, all with the goal of guiding patients through trying times.

“People come in, and they come in a lot of times,” she said. “Worst-case scenario, they’re very confused, disoriented, really not sure about what’s going on. They’re stressed, they’re panicked. And I get to be the person who puts the pieces of the puzzle together to help them figure it out, to help calm them down and kind of be there with them while they muddle through the very traumatic experience in their life.”

The hands-on experience doesn’t stop at the hospital. Lane also shares her knowledge with the next generation of nurses as an associate professor at Milligan University.

“With evidence-based practice, things are always evolving,” she said. “So being in the hospital, being at the bedside, interacting with the patients, I think that makes me a better teacher. A better professor, because I can bring that experience to the classroom, and be able to give that back to the students.”

She is committed to giving back and making sure future nurses have the skills they need to provide the best possible care.

Massive Firework Heist Strikes Alabama Store: Thousands in Inventory Stolen

0

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — While many Americans view the Fourth of July as a time for joyous celebration, for one business owner in Madison County, it turned into a day fraught with difficulty.

“It’s incredibly disheartening that this had to occur on the Fourth, of all days. People are simply looking to celebrate,” stated Evan Lake, owner of Crazy E’s Fireworks.

The night before Independence Day, Lake and his family stocked their store with an array of fireworks, preparing for the holiday festivities.

However, in the predawn hours of that fateful day, Lake received alerts from his store’s security cameras.

“Upon checking, we discovered numerous images of individuals breaking in and essentially ransacking the entire store,” Lake recounted.

This is the first time his store has been broken into, but he’s not alone. Lake said local businesses take a big hit when incidents like this happen.

“We are, and all the others, we’re all local family-owned businesses, so it really hits us where it hurts. It’s not something where we’re a big chain and we can just write it off,” Lake said.

And this theft hit his wallet hard on what was supposed to be a very busy day at the store. He said they lost a minimum of $10,000.

“We had all the massive inventory in there,” Lake said.

He’s now asking residents to keep an eye out for the people involved.

“Five young men. They’re all 2os. One even looks like he could be in his teens. Most of them, they were hooded, and they had a mask on covering their faces. But there is one you can see his face pretty clear in the footage,” Lake said.

Right now, Lake and his family are looking to increase security next year.

“We’re just going to try and do what we can to prepare better for next year. Somehow we’ll get funds to keep doing this and then to get better security,” Lake said.

If you have information on the people involved in the break-in, you’re encouraged to reach out to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at 256-533-8820. A reward will be offered for information leading to an arrest.

Luxury Wellness Retreats: Discover Countess Luann de Lesseps’ Top NYC Spots

0

Countess Luann de Lesseps is not only a master at stirring up drama but also at discovering the perfect retreats to unwind.

The 61-year-old star of “The Real Housewives of New York City” recently gave an exclusive glimpse into her favorite havens in the Big Apple, highlighting the spas she loves and the gyms she frequents.

“Maintaining wellness is vital for being stage-ready—and for slipping into my Jovani gowns,” de Lesseps shared in an interview with The Post.

For lymphatic drainage: IMD Health and Wellness

Among her top picks is the Upper East Side location of IMD Health and Wellness, which she describes as “the most amazing place for detoxing and feeling rejuvenated.”

De Lesseps is particularly fond of their $325 Brazilian signature lymphatic drainage treatment. This indulgence begins with an infrared sauna session, wrapped in a magnesium thermal blanket, and culminates in a lymphatic massage.

The one-hour treatment is touted as boosting the immune system, decreasing cellulite and sculpting body contours.

“It’s good for your blood, circulation and puffiness,” said de Lesseps, who later this year will represent NYC on the 20th anniversary of “Ultimate Girls Trip” on Bravo. “It cleans your system out.”

For anti-aging injections: Velour Medical

Money might not buy you class, but it can buy you Botox and filler at one of the city’s top medical practices, Velour Medical — which she swears is “the best in the business.”

The man responsible for her camera-ready look is Dr. Michael Kennis, a facial biomechanics expert and Velour’s founder. His pricing for fillers starts at $1,000 a syringe, and he also offers biostimulators, PRP injections, chemical peels and smooth threads.

“It’s really about maintaining a natural, refreshed look — nothing overdone, just subtle enhancements that keep you looking your best,” said de Lesseps. “For me, staying on top of my beauty routine is part of wellness.”

She books sessions  “religiously” — and sometimes with “Real Housewives” pals Sonja Morgan and Kelly Bensimon — for what Kennis dubs “Frozen Forehead” parties.

For massages: Mandarin Oriental Spa

De Lesseps’ favorite rainy day respite happens to be one of Manhattan’s poshest hotel addresses.

“When it’s a miserable day in New York, I love escaping to the Mandarin Oriental Spa and pretending I’m on vacation,” she said. “It’s such a beautiful, calming space. I’ll get a full-body massage and just fully unwind.”

Her favorite, the therapeutic full-body massage, rings up at $275 for 50 minutes or $385 for 80 minutes. It also includes access to the amethyst crystal steam room, vitality pool and relaxation lounge.

For a bathhouse experience: Juvenex Spa

Sometimes, relaxation is also romantic — like at her favorite Korean-inspired bathhouse, Juvenex Spa, which is open 24/7.

“It’s fun because you can go with a date or do a couples experience,” said de Lesseps, who’s dating Hamptons real estate agent Michael Riemerschmid. “For a couple’s pampering day, they put you both in a tub. It’s a fun hang, complete with a steam, sauna, all of that!”

The spa’s Basic Romantic Couples Getaway package runs $435 per couple and includes two hours of a private soaking tub in the celebrity room, which is stocked with flowers, aromatherapy candles, fruit and beverages. And there’s a Korean-style scrub or 60-minute massage.

“It’s amazing, they wash your hair and everything. It’s very rejuvenating for the skin,” she said.

For a luxe upgrade, the enhanced package costs $635 and lasts for three hours.

“It’s honestly heaven,” gushed de Lesseps, who’s also joining the cast of E’s “The Golden Life” this fall. “It’s such a treat, it really refreshes you.”

For facials: Skin Studio by Irena

De Lesseps doesn’t trust her pores to anyone but Irena of Skin Studio by Irena.

She swears by the aesthetician’s signature $350 HydraFacial, which uses the “most amazing products” from Japanese skincare line Forlle’d.

While lying on a natural crushed stone chakra mattress, clients’ faces and necks are cleansed, exfoliated and moistruized. The hour-long treatment also includes dermaplaning and a head and neck massage.

When she wants to pump up the pampering, she also gets Irena’s Factor Five Chemical Peel, dubbed the “no-peel-peel,” on her chest and hands. The treatment promises to renew skin using advanced acids and growth factors to improve texture, tone and radiance with minimal downtime.

For fitness: Barry’s Bootcamp and Isaac Boots

This self-declared “busy bee” says she was always “very active and sporty” — she has to be, with plans to head back on the road with her “Love” cabaret tour in October.

She likes yoga, tennis and, more recently, pickleball. “I kind of pioneer my own workouts. I love using outdoor gyms in parks and have my own routine,” she said.

One of her long-standing faves is Barry’s Bootcamp, where she does the full-body run and lift classes.

She’s also a huge fan of celebrity trainer Isaac Boots, whose A-list fans include Kelly Ripa, Jessica Chastain and Gwyneth Paltrow.

He hosts pop-up classes and retreats, including a summer residency at EHP Resort and Marina in East Hampton, and his Torch’d classes are also accessible via his Instagram page.

As for her gym must-haves, she always carries a Roar Organic drink and raw almonds — and shows up in Lululemon and Alo.

“I always try to keep it looking sexy!” she said.

Whale Collision Post-July 4th Causes New York Fire Rescue Boat to Sink in Harbor

0

In a dramatic turn of events, a surfacing whale collided with a boat belonging to a New Jersey fire department, prompting the firefighters onboard to hastily vacate the vessel on Friday. The daring incident unfolded as they were making their return from a July 4th marine security mission in New York Harbor, authorities reported.

The Carteret Fire Department noted that Marine Unit 2 was navigating back to its home waters in Carteret around 4:30 p.m. on Friday. This followed a collaborative security operation spanning the New York/New Jersey Port area when a whale unexpectedly breached, striking the stern near the entrance of Raritan Bay.

Officials detailed that the impact from the marine giant inflicted severe structural damage on the boat, causing it to rapidly take on water. With only moments to act, the firefighters had no choice but to abandon ship.

Thankfully, the department confirmed that all firefighters involved in the mishap managed to escape unharmed, underscoring the fortunate outcome of an otherwise precarious situation.

Officials said a nearby recreational jet ski operator and another boater immediately came to the firefighters’ aid before members of the Perth Amboy Fire Department’s marine unit arrived and helped rescue the crew from the water.

A nearby recreational vessel reported seeing multiple whales breaching before and after the collision, the Carteret Fire Department said.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under review, and officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Mayor Dan Reiman described the incident as a “harrowing experience” in a public statement, saying the surfacing whale struck the vessel beneath its stern and caused catastrophic damage.

“While the Carteret Fire Department Marine Unit regularly trains to rescue civilians from the water and respond to marine emergencies, fires, and vehicle incidents, an event of this nature is something no one anticipates,” the fire department said. “Understandably, it has left those involved shaken, but we are incredibly thankful that everyone returned home safely to their families.”

The department used the incident to remind boaters, jet ski operators and kayakers to wear properly fitted life jackets, noting that every firefighter aboard was wearing one when the boat was damaged.

Officials have not identified the species of whale involved. It was not clear whether the animal was injured.

Kaleb and Taya, who are parents to Oscar, five, Willa, three, and Ashton, 11 months, tied the knot in the Cotswolds with Jeremy present with his girlfriend Lisa Hogan.

Taking to Instagram to announce news of their big day, Kaleb shared a snap with his 3.2million followers alongside the caption: ‘Such an amazing day yesterday celebrating our wedding! We both had the most amazing day! Mr and Mrs Cooper’.

Kaleb arrived at 500-acre Merriscourt in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, in a £250,000 McLaren supercar with son Oscar alongside.

In June, Kaleb spoke exclusively to the Daily Mail about his nuptials, saying: ‘I want to say I’m really hands on but that’s a lie,’ he tells me. ‘I can’t really say that, it is Taya that has done the majority of it.’

He said: ‘It’s both of our dreams to get married. But Taya is very much like “I want it in a certain way, I want my dress to be a certain way”, which is good…

‘I think everyone should have that in their life and go, right, if you’re going to get married, it’s a very special day for everybody, family included, so therefore you’ve got to have your own say of how you want it to go.’

Kaleb Cooper Productions, in particular, in which he deposits his media earnings, has seen its account swell from £242,000 in 2023 to £817,000 last year, according to its latest figures.

Away from television, Kaleb has built a business empire that takes in his farm contracting, merchandise sales including branded hoodies and tops, and a livestock firm specialising in the sale of premium beef joints.

Balogun Might Sit Out as World Cup Faces Turmoil Ahead of USA vs Belgium

0

Folarin Balogun’s participation in the impending World Cup clash against Belgium on Monday remains uncertain as a contentious dispute unfolds, sparked by Donald Trump’s unexpected involvement in his red card controversy.

Belgium’s soccer authorities, outraged by the overturning of Balogun’s suspension, have successfully secured the right to challenge FIFA’s decision. They are hopeful of a resolution before the evening kickoff in Seattle, although it remains unclear whether the appeal will result in Balogun’s ban being enforced.

Both countries have been instructed to submit relevant information regarding the appeal process by 5 a.m. PST on Monday. With the match scheduled for 5 p.m. PST, there is a tight timeframe for FIFA’s appeals committee to review the case, and a designated member has been appointed to handle the proceedings.

The controversy began when Balogun, currently the USA’s leading scorer in the tournament with three goals, received a controversial red card during the United States’ 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32. The decision was heavily criticized and initially meant that Balogun would have to sit out the next game.

Further intrigue was added when it emerged that President Trump contacted FIFA President Gianni Infantino, seeking clarification on the rationale behind the red card and subsequent suspension, according to sources from the Daily Mail.

The source added that the ‘US government provided additional evidence that was used in the appeal process.’

Donald Trump had called FIFA president Gianni Infantino – and later thanked the organisation for ‘reversing a great injustice’

FIFA then announced on Sunday that it had suspended Balogun’s ban for a one-year ‘probationary’ period, wiping it out unless he commits another offence of ‘similar nature and gravity’.

After FIFA kicked back Balogun’s ban, Trump, who was awarded the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize by Infantino last year, wrote on Truth Social: ‘Thank you to Fifa for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice! President DONALD J. TRUMP.’

Infantino was sat next to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick during the game where Balogun was sent off in the San Francisco Bay.

‘We celebrate that decision,’ USA manager Mauricio Pochettino said on Sunday. ‘This is good for football, to celebrate [that] in the next game if an unfair thing happens you can reverse the decision.’

But now, his plans are potentially in chaos if his star man is ruled out once again just hours before the game starts.

Ironically, Balogun qualifies to play for the United States due to ‘birthright citizenship’ – a rule Trump was wanted to overturn.

His heavily pregnant mother was stopped from boarding a flight out of the United States when she was heavily pregnant and Balogun was then born in Brooklyn, New York.

Belgium soccer bosses hit out at the unprecedented move in an angry statement, saying it was astonished’. Its coach, Rudi Garcia, added: ‘I didn’t know that at the World Cup, July 5th is now April 1st – April Fool’s Day. We’re defending football and its ethics.’

Trump praised FIFA for 'reversing a great injustice' when Balogun's ban was revoked

Trump praised FIFA for ‘reversing a great injustice’ when Balogun’s ban was revoked

They were backed up by European soccer’s governing body UEFA, who went to war with FIFA with a blistering statement of their own.

‘When the certainty of rules is no longer guaranteed by its guardians, the integrity of the game is at stake and the credibility of a competition is undermined,’ UEFA said.

‘Football is the most loved sport in the world because it is a beautiful game and is trusted because it is played everywhere with the same laws.

‘We express our disbelief at such an unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable decision.’

Balogun was sent off in the second half of the win against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the San Francisco Bay after a tangle of legs with opposition defender Tarik Muharemovic.

The United States striker’s leg raked down Muharemovic’s calf while he was struggling balance and jostling to win possession of the ball.

Balogun, who had scored earlier in the game, was shown a red card after the referee watched the incident back in slow motion on a video replay, deciding the USA man was guilty of serious foul play.

Trump is expected to attend the World Cup final and hand the trophy to the winner on July 19

Trump is expected to attend the World Cup final and hand the trophy to the winner on July 19

The United States are trying to reach the World Cup for the first time since 2002 by beating Belgium, with many considering Monday night’s game the biggest ever in US soccer.

If Balogun was to now miss the game, Ricardo Pepi would be expected to start in his place.

Trump is not expected to attend. Despite going to multiple major US sporting events since beginning his second term as President, he has not made it to a World Cup game yet.

He is, however, set to attend the final on July 19 with Infantino saying recently that he and Trump will hand the trophy over to the winner ‘together’.

Infantino, speaking to Fox before Trump’s call about Balogun’s red card, said: ‘We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together.’

Unraveling the Darkness: ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 Episode 3 Deep Dive Recap

There’s a flurry of problems as Rhaenyra assumes the throne. Unpaid dragonseed riders clamor for their dues while the once bountiful treasury lies mysteriously emptied. Food shortages grip King’s Landing, leaving granaries empty and citizens starving. The list of grievances is long: candles extinguished for lack of tallow, a vacant Queensguard, and continuous contests for royal resources. Amidst this chaos, Rhaenyra, visibly anxious and frustrated, spots a rat scurrying by the Iron Throne. It’s as if the rodent too seeks an audience with Her Grace.

But the rat is just one of many roaming the Red Keep. Thanks to Aegon II, there are no ratcatchers left—he hung them all. Now, new ones must be hired. These rats are a grim reminder of the turbulent journey across Westeros. While Team Black has seized King’s Landing, Rhaenyra’s reign remains fiercely challenged. She finds peace neither in the streets nor within her own castle walls. Overwhelmed, Rhaenyra turns to the Keep’s house arrest wing in search of guidance.

She confides in Alicent, who poignantly advises, “You may not rule and remain yourself. There is a door within you that must shut.” Their conversation, awash with years of shared history, reveals Alicent as the sole voice who can candidly call out Rhaenyra’s idealism. Rhaenyra’s desire to rule as her father, Viserys I, might have wished overlooks the reality of his reign—a life of seclusion from the realm’s harsh truths.

HBO

Rhaenyra faces a significant decision: embrace the more ruthless approach that Daemon suggests or maintain her vision. Daemon has already secured the allegiance of Lord Ormund Hightower and his formidable Greens faction. Ormund has even handed over a young Daeron Targaryen, Alicent’s son, as a ward. Daemon proposes that Rhaenyra execute Daeron to eliminate a potential rival and secure her rule. “You’ve come so far, yet you still don’t know who you are,” Daemon chides, reminding her of her powerful position with an unmatched dragon fleet, surpassing even Aegon the Conqueror’s era.

HOTD, Daemon talking to Rhaenyra

HBO

Despite being unaware of Rhaena Targaryen’s involvement in the Battle of the Gullet, Rhaenyra sends Daemon to the Vale, tasked with seeking Sheepstealer and its rider. Plus, Daemon is to collect monetary tribute from Lady Jeyne Arryn, a mission bound with intrigue. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra hosts a banquet in King’s Landing, inviting a mix of wealthy merchants, lesser nobility, and the talkative Ser Torrhen Manderly (played by Dan Fogler). The attendees, however, receive a rude awakening as they are served unappetizing fare—rancid rats and horsehair beans—the same meager sustenance the Smallfolk endured during the blockade while the affluent guests hoarded the city’s food supplies. “What the crown demands of you,” she declares, “is not plunder but a duty.” Rhaenyra garners much-needed goodwill by orchestrating the public redistribution of fresh produce and bread among her subjects.

HOTD, Chalices raised with Rhaenyra at head of table

HBO

Rhaenyra admits these are small measures in service of her larger remit to rule the realm, but what she will not admit is just how in her head she has truly gotten. Rhaenyra has fallen on black days. She sees the slain Jacaerys Velaryon walking through Red Keep corridors. She cannot sleep in the royal bed chamber; too many ghosts in the room. And when Lord Corlys asks his queen to bless Alyn and Addam as his issue — “Let them now be Velaryons” — she balks. Rhaenyra has grown obsessed with proving the legitimacy of her rule, but it’s registering as paranoia. Corlys calls this out; like Alicent, he has earned the right. “You’re ashamed!” the Sea Snake declares. His sons, a mix of noble and common blood, are bastards unworthy of title? Well, Rhaenyra’s sons — the two dead ones plus little Joffrey Valaryon, now her declared heir — are bastards, too.

The queen is wanted at the gates. A bloodied dragontender has appeared. He is a survivor of a furious attack on Tumbleton, a merchant city in the nearby Reach. Wait, what army attacked? And with what dragon? And in real time, Rhaenyra learns the scant peace her victory secured was itself bullshit. Ormund Hightower’s surrender was a lie. His host sacked Tumbleton and the city is now Greens-occupied. Worse, Ormund’s surrender of “Daeron Targaryen” was also a lie. The silver-haired boy currently in Team Black custody is an imposter forced into the role, while the real Daeron is apparently still fighting for Team Green on Tessarion, his blue-winged dragon. Your Grace! What will you do now?

Hot D’s for House of the Dragon Season 3 Episode 3:

  • To Daemon, the very dawn could be theirs to rule. Check out the geographic reach and George RR Martin lore of his imperialism. Using their dragons, Team Black would conquer Essos and the Free Cities. Take Yi Ti, thousands of miles away, and its riches. “They say there is a city at the edge of the world where men have wings.” Daemon would have these legends also serve Rhaenyra’s rule.

  • In her consultation with Alicent, Rhaenyra accepted her advice. Declare Aegon dead. It’s easier than locating the scarred, near-unrecognizable usurper, and if he does resurface, she can claim him an imposter.

  • Rhaenyra’s subordinate dragonriders are also officially knighted. Ulf the White, Hugh Hammer, and Addam of Hull. (not Velaryon, natch.) But some of those guys still haven’t been paid, and they’ve got gripes.

  • And another dude not on board with Rhaenyra’s rule is the high septon, Balman (Simon Chandler). His refusal to anoint her within the faith is an indictment of how she got there, her entire ruling project. “My gods do not deal in dragons. They are a profane magic created in darkness and pride and lust for power, for impunity. They destroy, but they do not create. There is no good that can come of them.”

Heartfelt Community Vigil Honors Beloved Javeayah Harris: A Tribute to Her Legacy

AIKEN, S.C. ()- An emotional and poignant vigil took place in a local alley as Aiken residents gathered in droves. The community came together to pay tribute to the life of Javeayah Harris, marking a shared moment of mourning and remembrance.

The tragic conclusion of Javeayah’s journey became a rallying point for the people of Aiken on Sunday night, transforming sorrow into solidarity.

“I believe this community is truly remarkable. They’ve come out in support of a child they’ve never known but still hold dearly in their hearts. We’re here to show our love for her,” expressed Dorothy Burton.

Javeayah was embraced by many who had never met her, as if she were one of their own, illustrating a deep sense of communal connection.

“It is heartbreaking to think of a four-year-old unable to defend herself in such distressing circumstances. It amplifies the pain and anguish, and it’s as though she was my own child,” shared Steven Brown.

And the community will always be there for Javeayah’s extended family.

“You guys, I’m so sorry. Javeayah was a beautiful little girl and her extended community here in Aiken. We love her, and we’re praying for each and every one of you. And if you need anything, this community is here for you,” said Michele Tabler.
