The Evolving Beauty Standards Redefining the American Woman

0

Over the past 250 years, America’s beauty standards have been in a constant state of evolution, undergoing reinventions with every passing decade.

From the bold allure of red lips and paper-thin eyebrows to the voluminous elegance of permed hairstyles, not only have makeup and hair trends shifted, but the aesthetics of women’s appearances have transformed as well.

In the cinematic scene of the 1930s, Katharine Hepburn captivated audiences with her defined bone structure. Meanwhile, the era’s quintessential blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, was celebrated for her luminous skin and signature beauty mark.

By the late 1960s, Aretha Franklin had risen to fame, enchanting admirers with her distinctive style, including flowing blowouts and eyelashes reminiscent of Twiggy’s iconic look.

During this same period, plastic surgery began to gain popularity, bringing facelifts into the mainstream and making them more accessible to the public.

In the 1980s, stars like Madonna came to the forefront as she embraced all different kinds of styles, including lining her eyes with heavy eyeliner and keeping her signature gap tooth intact.

And now, flash forward to 2026 and it is clear we have come a long way from the beauty of former First Lady Dolley Madison, as women are aiming for oversized lips and dewy, glowing skin are everyone’s obsession and undetected work is the goal.

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the Daily Mail has taken a look back at the aesthetic trends that have shaped women’s faces throughout the years and how they have evolved.

‘In the most basic terms, over the past 100 years, the beautiful face flips back and forth between minimized and maximized, and in each decade, the available technologies and practices determine how far someone can go to achieve that ideal,’ Texas-based plastic surgeon Dr Frank Agullo told the Daily Mail.

Dr Rachel Mason, of La Femme Plastic Surgery in Las Vegas, described the beauty standards over the last century as following a ‘pendulum swing.’

‘In the 1920s, the popular look was much more understated and androgynous, with softer facial features and flatter chests,’ the plastic surgeon explained to the Daily Mail.

‘By the fifties, it flipped entirely to hyper-feminine Hollywood glamour, where everyone wanted an hourglass figure, full lips and a lifted bust line,’ she said.

Dr Agullo agreed, sharing that in the 1920s and 1930s, beauty was ‘minimized’ and ‘understated.’

‘Thin, plucked brows, a rosebud or cupid’s bow mouth, pale matte skin and flat hair to give a more boyish silhouette, all designed to be more doll-like,’ Dr Agullo told the Daily Mail.

‘Almost entirely achievable with cosmetics and hairstyling,’ he said.

This was especially evident with stars of that time, like actress Clara Bow, who was known for her cupid’s bow lip, painting them to appear much smaller than her natural lips.

Actress Shirley Temple was also known in Hollywood for her understated and natural beauty, particularly her signature curly hair that fell in ringlets, especially when she was young.

‘Back in the twenties and thirties, your options were pretty much limited to a new hairstyle, clever makeup tricks, or a corset, simply because the medical capabilities didn’t exist yet,’ Dr Mason told the Daily Mail.

Of course, today’s world couldn’t look more different, as we have everything from advanced devices to injectables and surgical procedures.

In the 1940s and 50s, things shifted once again.

‘The 1940s and ’50s brought the face into full glamour, with bombshells Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor as icons: bold arched brows, red lipstick, fuller lips and hourglass physiques,’ Dr Agullo said.

‘Beauty was no longer dainty but bold,’ he said.

Dr Mason told the Daily Mail that during this era, everyone wanted ‘an hourglass figure, full lips, and a lifted bust line.’

One of the most famous women from this era was the iconic Marilyn Monroe, who set the standard for years to come with her bombshell beauty.

Her legendary look included big, full lips which she often painted red, as well as her perfectly-arched eyebrows.

She also had a flawless complexion and stunning, rounded cheekbones.

According to Vogue, none of this was by accident. She reportedly had a very extensive beauty routine, which included applying layers of Vaseline under her foundation to get glistening skin and taking freezing-cold baths to keep her skin taut.

She left such a legacy that even Kim Kardashian wanted to get in on the fun, as she famously borrowed her archival rhinestone dress – the one that Monroe wore to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to then-President John F. Kennedy – to wear to the 2023 Met Gala.

Elizabeth Taylor was also an iconic beauty of the time, as she was known for her violet-colored eyes and bold, dark eyebrows.

‘The 1960s swung toward youth and androgyny with waiflike Twiggy, emphasized by large doe eyes with heavy false lashes and a slender, young body,’ Dr Agullo said.

‘Farrah Fawcett defined the 1970s natural, sun-kissed and barely-there look,’ he shared.

Indeed, it was the 1960s and 70s when classic beauties like Jackie Kennedy became ultra-popular, famous for her flawless skin and neutral, elegant makeup that she wore so well.

At the time, bouffant hairstyles were also a defining trend, with stars like Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren often sporting the look.

However, like many other trends, the bouffant faded fast and in came the 1980s and 90s.

‘The 1980s brought bolder features, with Brooke Shields’ thick, dark brows, the era of heavy eye and cheek color, and fitness-as-beauty with the beginning of supermodels, where the body began to have as much impact as the face,’ Dr Agullo said.

‘Then, the 1990s flipped hard to a skinny, heroin-chic look characterized by thin bodies, overplucked brows and a stark, pared-down face, as epitomized by Kate Moss,’ he said.

Of course, the beauty and style of famous figures like Princess Diana and Carolyn Bessette also dominated the 1990s, as many girls tried to re-create their timeless, radiant beauty – and still are.

They were both known for their simple elegance and ‘undone’ looks, wearing little makeup much of the time.

On the other end of the spectrum, Madonna’s fun, Queen of Pop persona also played a big role in the beauty standards and trends in the 1980s and 90s.

She was able to wear almost any look, rocking bold, red lipstick and big hair one day and a pixie cut with heavy eyeliner on her lids the next.

Madonna was not afraid to embrace bold beauty, the opposite of the ‘undone’ Carolyn Bessette look.

When the early 2000’s rolled around, everyone wanted to look like a pop star, as women embraced razor-thin brows, makeup with chunks of glitter in it and metallic, frosted lip colors.

At that time, it was in trend to be playful and have fun with your makeup and overall look.

But when we entered the 2010s, that’s when things really started to change in a very unprecedented way, according to doctors.

‘The real shift happened in the 2010s when social media and high-def cameras created a massive obsession with structural exaggeration,’ Dr Mason told the Daily Mail.

‘That’s when we saw an absolute explosion of Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs), aggressively sharp jawlines, and over-plumped lips using thick dermal fillers,’ the doctor continued.

‘Today, that over-enhanced look has shifted back to using procedures to refresh the features in a way that looks completely natural,’ she said.

Dr Agullo seconded Dr Mason’s sentiments about the 2010s, sharing that trends began to be those that were achieved through plastic surgery.

‘As we rolled into the 2010s, the conversation shifted entirely to the cosmetic plastic surgeons,’ Dr Agullo explained.

‘The Kardashian look, or the Instagram face, dominated: full, defined lips, pronounced brows, sculpted higher cheekbones and a sharp, snatched jawline, coupled with an hourglass exaggerated by a much fuller buttock,’ he said.

He called this the ‘maximizing era.’

‘These results were made with injectables, and lip fillers quickly transformed from a niche request to one of the most commonly requested things in my practice,’ he said.

It seemed like the Kardashians especially shaped the aesthetic trends of the 2010s as they focused on heavy, glamorous makeup, overfilled lips and contoured features.

Kylie Jenner heavily influenced this era as women became obsessed with having big, plump lips and using lip filler to achieve that.

Now, in 2026, things couldn’t be any more different.

Women are beginning to shy away from the overdone look and back into one of simplicity and appearing ‘natural.’

‘Today, there is a much greater emphasis on personalized, natural-looking results,’ Dr Mason shared.

‘I’m seeing more patients opt for reversals or downsizing procedures, whether that means exchanging larger breast implants for smaller ones, dissolving filler or even pursuing BBL reductions,’ she said.

‘Rather than chasing dramatic transformations, many patients are focused on enhancing their natural features and addressing signs of aging through subtle yet highly impactful procedures, such as blepharoplasty and fat transfer treatments to restore volume and soften hollowness,’ Dr Mason said.

She explained that nowadays, the goal is to ‘no longer look like everyone else.’

‘My patients want to look like the absolute best version of themselves, whether they’re navigating aging or reclaiming their bodies after kids and weight loss,’ Dr Mason explained.

‘The ultimate win for them today is getting that one specific compliment: “Wow, you look incredible, what is your secret?”‘

Dr Agullo said that much of what the beauty standards are today are reached by ‘medical intervention,’ like Botox and dermal fillers – even GLP-1s.

‘Another large factor, one I emphasize and talk about constantly, is GLP-1 medications, such as Wegovy and Ozempic, that cause rapid weight loss,’ Dr Agullo said.

‘The rapid weight loss is thinning faces out at an ever-faster rate and at an earlier age, dubbed the Ozempic face, prompting younger patients to ask for volume restoration and lift,’ he said.

Now, women are entering a time when the beauty standard has never been more unique.

‘The face of today is not just sculpted to a different shape, it is the product of clinical intervention rather than purely cosmetic effort, which has never been a factor throughout most of the 20th century,’ Dr Agullo said.

Joe Swash Faces Backlash on MasterChef: Viewers Label Him ‘Arrogant’ and ‘Cruel

Joe Swash is facing criticism for his alleged arrogance and rudeness after poking fun at his fellow contestants on Celebrity MasterChef.

The 39-year-old actor and TV host, originally from London, gained national affection with his playful charm as Mickey Miller on EastEnders.

However, during last night’s episode, viewers were outraged when Swash, a father of two, dismissed his competitor’s cooking as ‘a mess’ and ‘bad’.

Audience members criticized him as ‘graceless,’ ‘nasty,’ and ‘exhausting to watch.’ A viewer remarked, “How rude is Joe Swash! He points out others’ mistakes to justify himself.”

Joe Swash has been branded 'arrogant' and 'rude' after mocking his fellow Celebrity MasterChef contestants

Joe Swash is facing backlash for his perceived arrogance and rudeness towards his Celebrity MasterChef competitors.

For the first ‘Under the Cloche’ challenge, contestants were each given an ingredient to create a dish with, with Joe being given pigeon while fellow contestant Will Kirk (star of The Repair Shop) was given chickpeas which he served with chicken.

Despite other contestants being supportive of one another and saying they were ‘all did a good job’ after the first challenge Joe told Will: ‘Because your chicken was so bad, I feel like there’s no pressure’.

In a second challenge, the contestants were asked to recreate Jamaican street food dish Escovitch fish and festival dumplings.

While judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace praised actress Melissa Johns dish, Joe disparaged his fellow contestants, writing: ‘I looked around and there were some right messes on the plate, mine was decent’.

On the third challenge, contestants were tasked with making a dish of their choice, with judges praising Joe’s lamb kofta with tzatziki while they were less favourable towards Will’s duck which was undercooked.

‘As long as I’m not the worst review I’m happy. Will did another bit of raw meat, he dug us all out of a hole hasn’t he,’ Joe said through laughter.

Viewers were left seething at Joe’s comments, with one writing: ‘There’s no need to be so nasty about another contestant’s effort.’

‘Joe Swash mocking Will for not cooking his duck properly is not nice,’ added another.

‘I never had a particular opinion about Joe Swash but seeing him being so nasty about the other contestants has given me one! Not nice at all,’ wrote a third.

A fourth penned: ‘ Was thinking Joe Swash was quite funny, but two digs at a fellow contestant… hope he goes home next. Not deserving. Not funny.’.

At the end of the episode, Will left the show with Joe joining contestants Katie Price,  Melissa Johns and Dion Dublin to advance to the next round.

On advancing to the next round, Joe added: ‘Stacey and the kids will definitely be happy for me. But they’ll be surprised. Thing is, they have terrible palates, They don’t appreciate what’s put on the plate’.

Nonprofit Under Scrutiny for Hamas Connections Secures Additional $85K Funding

0

A Muslim nonprofit organization with significant connections to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani recently secured $85,000 from the City Council’s taxpayer funds. This allocation was made despite previous criticism. In January, the group held a fundraiser in Brooklyn that showcased items endorsing Hamas and other terrorist entities.

The Muslim American Society of Brooklyn and Staten Island was granted $70,000 from the Council’s discretionary funds, thanks to Council Member Kayla Santosuosso, a Democrat representing Bay Ridge and parts of southern Brooklyn. An additional $15,000 was provided by Alexa Avilés, another Democrat whose district encompasses Red Hook and Sunset Park.

This decision to award the funds was taken despite City Council Speaker Julie Menin expressing her astonishment earlier this year. In January, she was made aware of the terrorist-related items being sold by the nonprofit, which had previously acquired $265,000 over three years under former Speaker Adrienne Adams.

Menin, who is the first Jewish speaker of the Council, indicated in her comments to The Post that she would halt the disbursement of $80,000 in pending funds to the Muslim American Society until a legal investigation by city lawyers was completed, which could also influence future financing.

According to Yoav Gonen, a spokesman for the Council, the Office of the General Counsel carried out an investigation and determined that there was “no affiliation” between the nonprofit and the vendor responsible for the contentious items. Furthermore, the Muslim American Society has since severed ties with the vendor, Thrift For Gaza.

“The nonprofit’s funding was restored after its leadership committed in writing to enhanced screening and prevention protocols for all future vendors using its space,” he said.

Councilwoman and staunch Zionist Inna Vernikov (R-Brooklyn) said “individual members get to decide what groups get their discretionary dollars, but funding nonprofits that appear to flat out support designated terrorist organizations and spread radical, Jew-hating propaganda is far beyond the pale and potentially illegal.”

“And if this was some kind of an alleged hiccup, did MAS apologize and condemn Hamas? No,” she added.

“These members must explain to the public why their taxpayer dollars should be given to America-hating jihadis, rather than so many other groups who have a legitimate purpose and actual needs.”

Both Santosuosso and Avilés represent neighborhoods with large Muslim populations.

The new funding is earmarked for community safety, educational, youth-mentoring, cultural, job-training and other programs in both pols’ districts, according to the Council’s expense budget for member pet projects for the fiscal year that began Wednesday.

Santosuosso is the former deputy director of the Bay Ridge-based Arab American Association of New York, which received $124,500 in Council pork this fiscal year — including $5,000 through Santosuosso’s pot of funds.

During the MAS New York chapter’s Jan. 18 support-Sudan event at its Brooklyn youth center, vendors peddled keychains, stickers, pins and other tchotchkes supporting Hamas, Hezbollah and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Other items at the event, called Thrift4Sudan, featured reverential images of late terrorist leaders Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah and Yahya Sinwar of Hamas, and a masked figure resembling the late Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida.

Merchandise also sported terror-group logos or directly called for the destruction of Israel, with slogans like “Let’s go bomb Tel Aviv” and “Death to the IDF,” The Times of Israel reported.

MAS’ New York leadership includes notorious pro-Hamas activist Abdullah Akl, who grew up attending its Brooklyn youth center on Bath Avenue and is also an organizer for the radical, anti-Israel group Within Our Lifetime.

MAS’ influence over city politics morphed following the November election of socialist Mamdani as NYC’s first Muslim mayor. MAS-NY’s executive director Sherif Ahmed and Hannah Towfeik, political director at MAS’ youth center, were part of Mamdani’s transition team that helped fill key City Hall posts.

Kanye West Faces Over $1 Million in Unpaid Taxes Across Properties and Businesses

Kanye West’s financial troubles continue to deepen as he faces more than $1 million in tax debts.

The multifaceted artist, known for his ventures in music, fashion, and design, has seen turbulent financial waters since major brands like Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga severed ties with him following his controversial remarks. These issues have drastically slashed his once-impressive $2 billion net worth to a mere $400 million.

DailyMail.com has uncovered that West’s fashion enterprise, Yeezy Apparel, LLC, is currently burdened by four outstanding tax liens lodged in the past three years. These liens amount to an unpaid sum of $934,033.56 in business taxes.

Adding to his financial woes, the artist owes $101,093 in property taxes on two residences co-owned with his former spouse Kim Kardashian, further complicating his situation.

The most recent demand from the State of California’s Franchise Tax Board was in March 2023 for $319,356.58, which includes a $97,063.78 penalty and $9,644.40 in interest.

This stems from unpaid taxes between October 2021 and March 2022.

The rapper has two more ongoing tax liens against him.

One was filed in September 2022 for the April to September 2021 period, in which the company owes $321,591.71 inclusive of penalties and interest.

Another was filed in February 2022 for $279,085.99, which includes a $92,374 penalty and interest. This was for the January 2020 to March 2021 period.

The first lien was in July 2021 for $13,999.28, inclusive of penalties and interest, for three months from April 2020.

In total, Yeezy Apparel owes $934,033.56.

Meanwhile, Kanye also owns two properties that have failed to pay property taxes.

One is a four-bedroom mansion in Calabasas, which he bought with ex Kim Kardashian in May 2018 for $2.2million.

He was then given the 300-acre property as part of their divorce deal.

Kanye hasn’t paid any taxes on that pad since 2021 – meaning he now owes a total of $81,154 – that’s $26,759 in 2021, $26,781 in 2022 and $27,614 in 2023.

The 46-year-old was also awarded a three-bedroom apartment in Calabasas, which he and Kim bought together for $1.6million in August 2017.

Yet he stopped paying taxes this year, which totals $19,939.

For the two properties, unpaid property taxes stand at a combined $101,093.

In total, Kanye owes $1,035,126.56 in property and business taxes.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll pay the hefty sum any time soon as the penalties continue racking up.

His recent erratic behavior is mirrored by his business dealings, as it was revealed last month that the Malibu oceanfront property he bought for $57million in September 2021 was being put up for sale for $4million less.

This is despite it being a shell of a building after Kanye’s builders ripped it apart and have now left it to rot.

He’s currently being sued by the project’s manager Tony Saxon, who claims he wanted to turn it into a ‘bomb shelter from the 1910s’ and was told of the ‘danger of such actions.’

The house now lacks doors, windows, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and interior finishes.

‘It will take several million dollars for the house to be finished,’ realtor Jason Oppenheim told The Wall Street Journal. ‘Much of the architectural integrity and the architectural value of the house exists.’

Kanye, now known as Ye, also abandoned plans to move his Yeezy operation to Wyoming.

The new Yeezy HQ is now on Melrose Ave in West Hollywood, but the building has fallen into disrepair.

Instead of tending to the repairs, he’s been seen gallivanting around the world with his Australian wife Bianca Censori, who he often dresses in scantily clad ensembles.

In October 2022, Page Six reported that Kanye – who previously claimed to be a billionaire – could hit financial trouble, as sources said that while he has a large stash of cash, he also has vast expenses and could be in trouble if he doesn’t turn the tide.

An insider revealed that he has ‘a lot of cash by anyone’s standards,’ but he also has a ‘high cash burn rate.’

The rapper  has been no stranger to scandal throughout his career, which has been marred by infamous public feuds with the likes of Taylor Swift, Drake and even the Kardashian family, whom he repeatedly attacked on social media.

He was hospitalized for a psychiatric emergency in 2016  and first revealed his bipolar disorder diagnosis in 2018.

In addition to losing deals, he’s lost the support of fans for his troubling comments – including claiming that ‘slavery is a choice’, and insisting that George Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose and was not murdered by Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin.

In 2022, he was dropped by top talent agency CAA and Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez after he and and conservative commentator Candace Owens donned tops that read White Lives Matter during a Paris Fashion Week showcase for his Yeezy line.

Fashion bible Vogue decided not to work with Kanye in the future, fans have boycotted his music and thrown away items from his Yeezy line.

According to Forbes, Kanye loss his billionaire status following the termination of his business contracts.

UN Chief Supports Official Amid Controversy Over Anti-Israel Activist’s Claims: Calls for Investigation Intensify

0

A senior official from the United Nations is once again at the center of controversy for allegedly maligning Israel. This incident occurred after the official shared a social media post originally authored by an individual currently facing charges of incitement to terrorism and showing support for Hamas.

On June 18, U.N. Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Vanessa Frazier reposted an image of three small objects which the original poster, Sarah Wilkinson, claimed were cluster munitions “disguised as children’s toys” that Israelis had been “strategically dropping” over Lebanon. In her own post, Frazier stated, “If this is true it means that there is a deliberate, premeditated intent to kill children.”

Frazier, who has over 10,000 followers on X, has since deleted the post, but a screenshot of the original was provided to News Media.

X post retweet by UN rep.

A screenshot has emerged of a social media post, now deleted, by UN Special Representative Vanessa Frazier. This post on X was labeled as “Fake news” by a spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces. The content in question was a repost from an anti-Israel activist charged in the U.K. for inciting terror and backing Hamas. (X/@_VanessaFrazier)

When asked whether United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres supported Frazier’s decision to share the contentious post, his spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, informed News Media that “the retweet was removed some time ago and, as you are aware, a retweet does not mean endorsement of the original poster’s views.”

Andrew Fox, a senior fellow with the Henry Jackson Society, expressed to News Media that it is “absurd for a U.N. official to be so naive.”

Fox, a former officer in the British army who has expertise in Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) strategies, remarked that it is “quite significant that a U.N. official would hurry to propagate the age-old, antisemitic falsehood that Jews kill children. This reflects the harmful atmosphere built over nearly three years of deceit surrounding Israel. Any claim against the Jewish state, regardless of its implausibility, is instantly believed. This further erodes the credibility and reputation of the U.N. special representative.”

An IDF spokesman told News Media that the “allegation is baseless and unfounded. It is fake news, and we categorically reject it.”

The original poster of the cluster munitions accusation was arrested in the United Kingdom on terror charges in 2024, according to the World Socialist Web Site. The site, as well as Al Mayadeen English — Hezbollah’s media arm — link Wilkinson to the social media profile on X that shared the post Frazier elevated.

Vanessa Frazier

The BBC reported last week that Wilkinson will face trial in January on “two counts of encouragement of terrorism on social media, two counts of expressing an opinion or belief that was supportive of a proscribed organization, namely Hamas; and one of failing to comply with a police investigation.”

Though Wilkinson discussed her arrests and subsequent charges on her X account, she did not respond to News Media’s messages asking for comment about the charges she currently faces.

In response to questions about her removal of the X post and concerns about its original source, Frazier said that “regarding specific tweets, I understand why some of my social media activities have generated questions. Where concerns arose regarding posts, I took appropriate action. Nonetheless, the intended message is to emphasize the alarm of the Secretary-General in his Annual Report regarding the use of explosive weapons in populated areas in Lebanon, a matter that raises serious humanitarian concerns due to their long-lasting impact on civilians.”

Frazier said, “Ultimately, my mandate is not carried out through social media. It is carried out through the United Nations’ established monitoring and verification methodology, which applies the same standards to all parties to conflict.”

In March, JNS reported that Frazier posted that she was “deeply alarmed by reports of attacks on Iranian schools leaving a large number of casualties, mostly children.” A photograph accompanying the post showed numerous black body bags. When it became clear that the photo depicted victims of the Iranian regime’s crackdown on protesters, Frazier removed the post. She then created a new post with a similar sentiment featuring an updated picture.

On June 24, Israel’s Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon sent a letter to the U.N. Security Council president raising Israel’s “grave concerns regarding conduct that appears inconsistent with the neutrality, professionalism, and impartiality expected of a senior United Nations official.”

In his letter, a copy of which was provided to News Media, Danon said Frazier’s social media behavior suggests “a troubling pattern of engagement with unverified, disputed, or misleading material, alongside content raising concerns about antisemitic framing and extremist rhetoric.”

Danon also raised concerns about Frazier’s “abrupt interruption of [his] remarks during a United Nations side event,” which he said was “in disregard of basic procedural norms and the respect owed to Member States.”

Reuters called this exchange between Danon and Frazier “a furious shouting match.”

Frazier told News Media that her “intervention was procedural, not political. Its purpose was to help ensure that the discussion remained consistent with the standards expected in a United Nations forum,” where discussions “are expected to be conducted in accordance with established procedures and with respect for the dignity of participants and officials.”

The June 17 release of the Secretary-General’s Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict has also raised concerns.

Anne Bayefsky, president of Human Rights Voices and director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, told News Media that the allegations in the report were “wild, dangerous blood libels divorced from reality.”

Bayefsky blasted the U.N.’s use of the term “verified” when describing allegations, despite a lack of description of how and through what sources those supposed verifications occurred.

She said, “It is important to recognize the direct connection between the ancient antisemitic blood libels accusing evil Jews of murdering non-Jewish children and the U.N. actors who repeat the same ugly falsehoods today. History teaches us just how dangerous these depraved lies are for Jews wherever they live.”

Frazier defended the report, saying it was “the product of a rigorous United Nations (U.N.) monitoring and verification process and reflects information reviewed at multiple levels of the U.N. system.” She said that “suggesting that the report is based on falsehoods does a disservice to all child victims, including Israeli children whose suffering is also documented in the report.”

Frazier also maintained she has “no bias against the State of Israel or against any Member States of the United Nations, and reject[s] the characterization,” saying that “as a U.N. official, accuracy, impartiality, and credibility are fundamental to my work.”

When asked by News Media if Guterres would examine Frazier’s tenure, Dujarric responded that “the Secretary-General has full confidence in Vanessa Frazier and her work.”

He defended Frazier, saying she “has not ‘vilified’ and is not ‘vilifying’ the State of Israel, or any other country for that matter. Her focus is not on any one single country but on the protection of children throughout the world. Under the mandate the Security Council has given her, she does not ‘blacklist’ Member States or other parties. The report exists to find ways to get all of the parties listed to improve their behavior, so that children can be protected in concrete ways. She has been effective in doing just that.”

Danon said that “it comes as no surprise that Secretary-General Guterres expresses full confidence in Ms. Frazier.” He said Frazier’s report “is a symptom of [Guterres’] tenure. Under his leadership, the United Nations has repeatedly failed to uphold the standards of impartiality it claims to represent.”

Victoria Beckham Strengthens Family Bonds with Heartfelt Gesture Towards Brooklyn

0

Victoria Beckham recently paid homage to her son Brooklyn amidst celebrating her wedding anniversary with David Beckham.

Marking 27 years of marriage, the former Spice Girl, now 52, posted a heartwarming photo on Instagram on Saturday, capturing a tender kiss with her husband, David.

In her heartfelt caption, she acknowledged Brooklyn, subtly highlighting him while expressing admiration for her “four amazing children.”

Victoria wrote, “After 27 years of marriage, four amazing children, and countless matching outfits, you’re still my *everything*. Happy anniversary!! I love you so much ♥️.”

David also expressed his praise for their aspiring chef son, Brooklyn, mentioning him fondly in his own anniversary post, which featured a selection of nostalgic photos, proudly celebrating his family.

He penned: ’29 years together, 27 years married & you have given me everything I could ever wish for.. Our proudest achievement will always be our family I love you & Happy Anniversary  @victoriabeckham.’

As well as Brooklyn, 27, the Beckhams are parents to Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14.

Yet, while the Beckhams were sweetly referencing the entire brood, they may well have pushed Brooklyn further away, as he is reportedly ‘fuming’ that his parents keep posting about him.

David extended an olive branch to his eldest son in his Instagram post last month on Father’s Day as he shared an old photograph of himself and Brooklyn as a child as well as a snap of himself with all four of his kids.

Alongside the images, he wrote: ‘Being a dad is my most important job – I love you all and thank you mummy @victoriabeckham for giving me our beautiful family. Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads around the world’.

Victoria also included their son Brooklyn in her heartfelt Father’s Day post to her husband on Sunday.

Yet, while Brooklyn has publicly remained silent, behind the scenes he was reportedly ‘fuming’.

A source revealed: ‘He’s fuming about it. He’s asked them to leave him alone and they just keep posting him.’

They told The Sun: ‘It just brings the whole thing up all over again. He wishes they’d leave it and leave him alone.’

Shortly before Christmas last year, Brooklyn blocked his parents on Instagram, while his lawyers later wrote to the Beckhams’ team requesting all communication be conducted through legal representatives.

In January, Brooklyn then released a scathing six-page statement announcing he had cut ties with his family.

Following months of rumours they had become estranged, Brooklyn confirmed the news in January, declaring he was no longer part of ‘Brand Beckham’ and insisting his parents and their other children are ‘performative’.

Brooklyn also claimed David and Victoria had controlled him for much of his life, attempted to drive a wedge between him and wife Nicola Peltz and left him embarrassed when his mother danced ‘inappropriately’ with him during the first dance at his wedding.

The aspiring chef was last pictured with his family during Christmas 2024, and by May 2025 it was clear a feud had formed after Brooklyn failed to acknowledge either of his parents’ birthdays and snubbed David’s 50th.

Last month, Brooklyn was accused of selling his family out for a big sum following the release of his two-part DoorDash commercial.

Five months after declaring that he and his wife Nicola want privacy, Brooklyn was savaged by fans, who branded him ‘classless’ after he collaborated with the food delivery firm for the sponsored video.

It was reported that Brooklyn was paid a hefty figure for the ad, with a source saying: ‘Anything that makes him money is good – it shows that his brand is there and flourishing.’

It’s thought that he was paid ‘at least $1million (£755,000)’ for the campaign.

However, the Beckham clan were reportedly less impressed with the advert, with an insider telling Page Six: ‘Brooklyn claims he wants peace and privacy and nothing to do with his family – now he’s trying to cash in on it all.’

In the teaser clip for the advert released on June 15, Brooklyn smirks and says: ‘You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the Fifa World Cup 2026 from home… It’s a long story.’

It has been taken as mocking parents David and Victoria with whom he no longer speaks – and profiting off their name, while friends of the Beckhams have said the pair are ‘devastated and inconsolable’ by the jibe.

The second longer version was released on Wednesday, sparking even fiercer backlash from even the most supportive Brooklyn fans, with followers commenting in their droves under the Instagram clip.

Friends of the Beckhams were shocked to see Brooklyn’s advert.

One told the Daily Mail’s Katie Hind: ‘To do an advert based on estrangement from family as if it’s a joke when his family is devastated and sister and grandparents inconsolable is shocking.

‘Especially from someone who claims he wants peace and privacy.’

Brooklyn Beckham’s January statement in full

‘I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.

I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.

My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped. My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.

Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.

They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.

During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me “evil” because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.

The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was “not blood” and “not family.” Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, I’ve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.

Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last Summer.

My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.

She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.

My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one. My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.

Despite this, we still travelled to London for my dad’s birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him. He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.

When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.

My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family “love” is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations.

We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family.’ But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.

The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.

I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.’

July 4th Weather Forecast: Clear Skies and Perfect Conditions for Independence Day Celebrations

Widespread showers and storms expected mid-afternoon.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Weekend Weather Outlook

Abundant moisture will persist in the atmosphere on Saturday, leading to a significant increase in storm activity throughout the region. The morning hours should remain dry, with a combination of sun and clouds helping temperatures rise to the lower 90s by early afternoon. The heat index could reach anywhere from 100 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

Model guidance for Saturday afternoon.

Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated to begin developing around 1 p.m., spreading from the southwest to the northeast across Central Florida as the afternoon progresses. It would be wise to start barbecues by noon to make the most of dry conditions before the storms arrive. Despite their strength, these storms are expected to diminish swiftly as evening approaches.

Storm chances decrease just in time for fireworks displays.

By 8 p.m., conditions should largely dry out, albeit with a lingering, intense humidity. This will set the stage for a dry but moisture-laden environment for fireworks scheduled at 9 p.m.

Model guidance for Sunday afternoon.

Looking Ahead to Sunday

While not as prevalent as Saturday, moisture will still stick around for our Sunday Funday. This will allow for another day of decent storm coverage in the afternoon along our sea breeze, but slightly less coverage than Saturday. Highs will hover in the low 90s with heat indices once again topping 100ºF.

Americans Show Resilience Amidst Challenges to the American Dream

0

The Great Depression often comes to life in our minds in stark black and white. The iconic imagery, etched into our collective memory, depicts scenes of migrant farm families, anxious crowds during bank runs, lengthy food lines in urban settings, and the ragged communities of Hoovervilles. Such images are imbued with a sense of darkness, depression, and despair.

These monochrome snapshots encapsulate the grim reality of the time: a staggering 25% of the workforce was jobless, one-third of banks collapsed, and the U.S. GDP plummeted by 30%. Countless farms were lost to foreclosure. For those lucky enough to secure employment, wages had suffered a drastic reduction of over 40%. Unlike other historical downturns, the Great Depression extended painfully, lasting for more than a decade. It was the enduring nature of this crisis that compounded its hardship.

The culture of the 1930s was deeply influenced by this economic turmoil. Notably, Al Capone, troubled by the sight of “poor devils starving,” established a soup kitchen in Chicago that served 2,200 individuals each day, featuring a sign that read “Free Soup Donuts and Coffee for the Unemployed.” This gesture further cemented his Robin Hood-like image. By 1932, three years into the depression, the popular refrain of the day was Bing Crosby and Rudy Vallee’s “Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?”

Even seemingly trivial details held symbolic weight, such as the decision by the creators of Monopoly to represent the era with a ragged boot token.

Yet, from a historical perspective, the Great Depression also highlights the enduring resilience of the American spirit, even when the American Dream seems under siege. The nation’s history is marked by financial peaks and troughs. From the financial panics of the 1700s to the depressions and recessions of the 1800s and 1900s, and onward to the crises of the 2000s, economic volatility is intricately woven into the very essence of our national narrative.

Juxtaposed against this darkness, the American drive and ambition were still there. Dance contests played across the country, with contestants hoping they would be the one to dance the longest and win a cash prize. The game of Monopoly became the rage with the dream that one could make and achieve wealth. And Americans were caught up in the idea that a superhero like the Green Hornet could take on evil.

In total, we’ve had 48 recessions across 250 years, and the average has lasted 17 months. That means the US economy has been in a challenging moment around 25% of the time. Yet whenever the chips are down, our financial prosperity finds a way to bounce back.

And The Great Depression is the Before and After in US economic life, a dark time that generated the two cornerstones for American prosperity. In those moments we learned what steps were needed to shape  American life.

The biggest lesson learned was simple: In order to survive and thrive, we need to evolve our institutions.  Social Security was created to be a social safety net. The devastating effects of the Great Depression meant that many older Americans’ savings were wiped out. One-third of them faced destitution and their only financial backstop, if there was one, was family and friends.

While the idea of a government benefit for retirement seemed novel, it was also idea that went as far back as the Romans and modernized by the Germans in the 1880s. And unlike other government intervention, Social Security did not immediately start paying out in 1935 when FDR signed it into law. Rather, payroll taxes began being collected in 1937, with the first benefits paying out in 1940 to over 8.3 million Americans who were over age 65. Could you imagine us having the same restraint today?

But Social Security wasn’t the only institution that evolved. To this day, we still have the Tennessee Valley Authority and the National Labor Relations Board. Stronger bank and financial regulations helped protect the average American, including the creation of the FDIC to insure bank deposits and the SEC to oversee markets and prevent manipulation.

And the government learned that intervention can make a difference. During the Covid-19 pandemic, stimulus checks, the development of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), and mortgage and student loan abatement programs made the difference for millions of Americans.

There may be some who don’t agree with this level of federal intervention, but what is often missed is something very special: It is an American Superpower. Whenever there is a global crisis, other countries lag behind the United States in recovery. With the 2008 economic crisis, our economy officially exited the recession in June 2009, while Europe’s recovery dragged on for years.

In the Great Depression, we didn’t have this power yet.  And now, we take for granted that we can pass go and collect $200, just like in Monopoly.

But the lessons of the era weren’t only economic — they were also about true leadership. One of the most surprising aspects of the Great Depression is that the man who understood finance was unable to solve it. Herbert Hoover was phenomenal with money.  In fact, he was one of our wealthiest presidents. But he had built that wealth through intelligence and bootstrapping; the Great Depression required a different approach.

The Great Depression taught us that it isn’t just financial decision making and solutions that saves us.  It is vision.

So it’s rather apt that, on the anniversary of our country, we stand again at a crossroads of financial troubles. Our citizens want to believe that the American Dream is still alive, yet the affordability crisis threatens to drown the average American. The transition to the AI age is rocky and, for many, frightening.

What history tells us is that, like in the Great Depression, it is the right leader and the right institutional evolution that can pull us out of this crisis and salvage the American Dream.
