Gigi Hadid Shares Affectionate Moment with Bradley Cooper at Taylor Swift’s Event

0

Gigi Hadid, rumored to be a bridesmaid at Taylor Swift’s wedding, expressed her admiration for boyfriend Bradley Cooper’s style as they made their way to the pop star’s celebration in New York City on Friday.

The 31-year-old supermodel glimmered in a pink, shimmering dress while attending the lavish wedding event of Swift and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, held at Madison Square Garden. Accompanying her was actor Bradley Cooper, who is 51.

Cooper appeared strikingly handsome in a tailored black suit complemented by a bow tie. Hadid couldn’t hide her affection, casting admiring glances as Cooper entered a car, readying the pair for Swift’s grand celebration.

Earlier in the day, a vehicle thought to be carrying Swift was observed leaving her residence and arriving at Hadid’s home. This sighting intensified speculation that Swift was preparing for her special day with her bridesmaids by her side.

On Thursday night, Swift and Kelce, both 36, hosted a ‘rehearsal dinner’ at the Infosys Theater. The event extended late into the night with an intimate gathering of 100 close friends, including Hadid, Cooper, Selena Gomez, and Jack Antonoff.

There are conflicting reports about whether Swift and Kelce have already married, but there are plans for an enormous party with 1,000 guests at Madison Square Garden today.

Guests are expected to arrive at MSG at 3.30pm ET, and the festivities will kick off around 5pm. City permits suggest the extravaganza could go on until 4am.

Industry experts claim the nuptials cost over $15 million, including the venue, security, insurance, permits, catering, and decorations to transform the venue into their fairytale wedding.

Taxpayers contributed over $1 million to pay for the couple’s NYPD security detail patrolling MSG, which banned press from getting too close and threatened to arrest anyone who did not comply with street closure rules on Thursday.

A few glimpses of the interior were visible. Pink, orange and yellow roses were photographed woven into foliage at the top of an escalator.

Crews are now working feverishly to turn around the decor for night two of the festivities.

Hadid also shared glimpses of her glam look for Thursday night’s festivities.

Hadid’s hairdresser, Dimitris Giannetos, shared new photos on Instagram of the recent cut and style he had done for the star.

The pictures showed Hadid sporting gorgeous, bouncy layers that framed her face, the length hitting just below her shoulders.

Philadelphia’s ‘Salute to Independence’ Parade Canceled Due to Searing Heatwave

0

As Americans nationwide commemorate the prestigious 250th anniversary of the nation this week, some festivities have come under pressure from unforeseen circumstances. Notably, a parade initially planned for Friday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been canceled due to the dangerously high temperatures forecasted for the city.

Welcome America Inc. announced the parade’s cancellation through a post on the social media platform X, a message that was subsequently reposted by the city of Philadelphia to ensure widespread awareness.

“Due to the extreme heat, the Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade is cancelled,” the post noted.

The X account for the National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly noted in a Friday morning post, “If Philadelphia Int’l Airport reaches our forecast high of 104° today, it will be the hottest temp recorded there since July 3, 1966.”

In response to the extreme weather conditions, City Health Commissioner Dr. Palak Raval-Nelson has extended the city’s “Heat Health Emergency” until 8 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by the city’s Department of Public Health.

Originally, the event was expected to be a vibrant display featuring floats and marching bands. The parade was described in the event details on its official website.

Welcome America Inc. President and CEO Michael DelBene noted that the organization’s first duty is people’s safety.

“As much as this decision pains everyone inside our organization, we simply cannot host an event of this size and scale under these dangerous heat conditions. Todd Marcocci and Under the Sun Productions, along with all the parade groups, have been working tirelessly to design something truly historic, and having to cancel it at the last minute is heartbreaking for all of us,” DelBene noted in a statement obtained by News Media.

The 36-year-old pop superstar is holding her event at the fabled New York City venue.

The venue was lit up with pink lights and adorned with dusty pink curtains while the interior was decked out with peach-colored flowers.

Guests were seen heading to the venue on Thursday while Swift is believed to have arrived at the venue in an SUV.

According to People magazine, source have said MSG has been ‘transformed’, with one insider adding: ‘I’ve never seen it look so different.’

One insider told the publication: ‘It looks very special. They have grass, carpets, canopies and it looks like a place where you’d get married. There’s a stage set up but it’s special.’

People reports the dress code for Friday’s celebrations is black tie and there will be a strict no phones policy in place.

It comes after New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani joked about the wedding when a reporter asked about the rumors during a press conference about a heat wave.

Mamdani, 34, replied: ‘My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool. And if you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside and you will be staying cool. And I think it’s a good example to set for the city at large.’

Mamdani also discussed Taylor and Travis’ wedding while talking about preparations for the soccer World Cup. The mayor – who is a huge soccer fan – said at the time: ‘We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one.

‘We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time – and we are so excited to welcome the world here.’

Elsewhere, New York Post column PageSix has reported Taylor and Travis have already legally married ahead of their big day.

One source told the publication: ‘They are already married.’

PageSix also reported rumors suggested the pair may have exchanged vows in a small, private ceremony in Tennessee, where the singer moved with her family when she was a teenager to pursue a career in country music.

Revitalize Grip Strength Over 60 with These 4 Effective Home Exercises

Grip strength plays a crucial role in determining your overall physical power and biological age.

>

How frequently do you prioritize grip strength in your fitness routine? Chances are, it isn’t often. This aspect of strength often diminishes gradually, going unnoticed. Yet, your grip holds significant importance for your body’s power and your biological age. It provides strong insight into bone health, cognitive abilities, lifespan, and even your risk of falling or fracturing a bone.

With the newfound understanding of grip strength’s significance, we present four exercises you can do at home. These exercises will enhance your grip more effectively than many gym machines.

“Grip strength is a remarkably straightforward yet profound measure of both health and longevity. The good news is, it’s highly trainable,” states Layne Nordquist, Senior Vice President of Fitness at VASA Fitness. “Studies reveal those possessing stronger grips often enjoy longer lives, face fewer heart-related issues, and sustain higher functional levels as they age. Experts consider grip strength a vital indicator of muscle quality, physical resilience, and the body’s capability to manage stress over the years.”

Here, Nordquist suggests four fantastic exercises you can perform at home to boost your grip strength.

Farmer’s Carry

“Farmer carries involve walking while holding a challenging weight in each hand. This exercise directly strengthens the muscles responsible for grip while also improving posture, core stability and total-body strength,” Nordquist shares.

  1. Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides.
  2. Start walking forward, keeping your torso still.

Over 50? If You Can Do This Many Knee Pushups, Your Upper Body Is Stronger Than Most

Suitcase Carry

“Suitcase carries are similar but use a weight on only one side of the body, creating an added challenge for balance and core engagement,” Nordquist tells us.

  1. Begin standing tall, holding one dumbbell at your side.
  2. Walk straight for 30 seconds without allowing your loaded shoulder to dip down.
  3. Repeat on the other side.

3 Daily Movements That Keep Your Body 10 Years Younger After 44

Dead Hang

“Dead hangs and timed hangs from a pull-up bar are also excellent options because they place the grip under sustained tension,” Nordquist says.

  1. Hold onto a pull-up bar at home (for a doorway) with an overhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart.
  2. Allow your body to naturally hang with arms extended and feet off the floor.
  3. Hold for the prescribed number of sets/reps.

5 Easy Bodyweight Tests That Show Your Real Fitness After 45

Timed Hang

  1. Hold onto a pull-up bar at home (for a doorway) using an overhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart.
  2. Lift your feet off the ground and hang onto the bar with your arms extended.
  3. Lightly engage your shoulders by bringing them down away from your ears.
  4. Activate your core as you keep your body still.
  5. Hold the position for the prescribed amount of time.

Historic Schooner Turned Bar, Once Sailed by Jacques Cousteau, Sinks in Gowanus

0

As a fleet of historic ships from around the world sails majestically into New York Harbor this week, a local maritime gem met a tragic fate beneath the waters off Brooklyn. In an unexpected twist amidst the nautical celebrations, New York’s own cherished vessel mysteriously vanished below the surface.

The schooner known as PILOT, which had been transformed into a restaurant ship and once hosted the renowned researcher Jacques Cousteau, succumbed to the waves early on Wednesday morning. The sudden sinking at Red Hook’s Henry Street Basin left behind a floating trail of bar stools, restaurant equipment, and various flotsam.

Kayakers captured poignant videos of the events, showing the towering masts of this 102-year-old former racing schooner piercing through the water’s surface while wooden chairs bobbed forlornly amidst the debris.

This unexpected demise has been termed a “nightmare” by the vessel’s distraught owner.

“We are heartbroken to share that our beloved PILOT sank overnight at our maintenance location in Red Hook,” Alex Pincus, CEO of Crew, shared with South Brooklyn History. “At this time, we do not yet know the cause of the incident. Most importantly, no one was aboard and no one was harmed. We are deeply grateful for that.”

“Our immediate focus is on working with the appropriate professionals and authorities to understand what happened and determine the safest path to raise Pilot. We are devastated but remain hopeful that she can be salvaged.”

The PILOT had served as a popular bar and oyster restaurant at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 7 until last summer, when it was it replaced with the Fireboat, a retired 1960s FDNY boat-turned-bar owned by Crew.

Crew, which owns numerous floating restaurants throughout the city, had moored PILOT in the Henry Street Basin earlier this year for repairs, with kayakers noting that it appeared in “rough shape.”

“(There) was really deteriorated wood along the side of the hull and in places. More so than I had ever really had a sense of last year when I was on it or near it,” Brad Vogul, of the Gowanus Dredgers, told the blog.

The sinking comes just days before the largest flotilla of US and international ships are set to sail through the New York Harbor in honor of the US’s 250th birthday. The aging ship was not set to participate.

It also comes as the PILOT is in the process of become a National Historic Landmark, according to Crew.

The ship was built in 1924 and is one of the two remaining racing schooners from the International Fisherman’s Cup.

After it’s racing days, it served as a harbor pilot in Boston and, during World War II, was used by the Coast Guard to guide troop transport and supply ships in Boston harbor.

She was also bought by a group that had dreams of circumnavigating the globe in the 1970s, but the crew only made it to Fiji before she was sold to researched in the Galapagos — which is where Cousteau boarded the iconic vessel.

Pincus and his brother Miles purchased PILOT in 2015 and did a full restoration to transform it into the popular oyster restaurant.

Escalating Western Iran Clashes: Six Kurdish Fighters Ambushed by IRGC

0

On Thursday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had killed five members of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan. In contrast, the Kurdish opposition group reported to News Media that six of its Peshmerga fighters, a term used for Kurdish combatants, were killed, labeling the incident as an ambush by the Revolutionary Guards in northwest Iran.

This incident signifies a new peak of tension in Iran’s predominantly Kurdish western regions. Recent days have witnessed a series of attacks and confrontations involving Iranian security forces, the Revolutionary Guards, and Kurdish armed factions.

The clash highlights the precarious stance of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups. These factions had been considered potential leverage by U.S. and Israeli officials to apply pressure on Tehran amid U.S.-Israeli tensions with Iran. However, these groups have refrained from entering the conflict due to ambiguous messages from Washington and pressures from both Iran and Turkey.

The Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan confirmed that six of its Peshmerga fighters—Karo Hormuziari, Fardin Changizi, Mohammad Khaki, Abdullah Mohammadpour, Twana Osmani, and Mohammad Amin Bayezidi—died in confrontation with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps near Piranshahr in Iranian Kurdistan on July 1, 2026. (The Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan)

Majeed Gly, president of the American Kurdish Committee, cautioned against perceiving these latest clashes as the beginning of a full-scale uprising. However, he emphasized they cannot be simply dismissed as typical border skirmishes either.

“What I’m hearing is, this is not business as usual,” Gly said. “This is not like periodic clashes on the border. This is operations, and it seems to be deep inside.”

Gly said Kurdish frustration has grown sharply after months of Iranian attacks on Kurdish areas and opposition-linked sites, including in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He said the region has been hit by more than 850 attacks since February, leaving at least six civilians dead and dozens more wounded.

Hejar Berenji, the U.S. representative of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, or PDKI, confirmed to News Media that six PDKI Peshmerga were killed in a clash with IRGC forces in the Piranshahr area of Iranian Kurdistan.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said it had killed five members of the banned PDKI in northwest Iran, Reuters reported Thursday, citing state media. The IRGC said the group was ambushed after entering Iranian territory in mountainous border areas near Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan Province.

Berenji identified the six Peshmerga as Karo Hormuziari, Fardin Changizi, Mohammad Khaki, Abdullah Mohammadpour, Twana Osmani and Mohammad Amin Bayezidi. He said the incident took place Wednesday night in the village of Qizqapan, near Piranshahr, and said the PDKI unit was on a “political and organizational mission” when it was “ambushed by a large and heavily equipped IRGC force.”

“This should be understood in the broader context of the Islamic Republic’s continued repression in Iranian Kurdistan and its repeated attacks on Iranian Kurdish civilian camps in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, even during ceasefire and negotiation periods,” Berenji said. “The regime has increased pressure on Kurdish communities because it understands that Iranian Kurds remain among the most organized and determined democratic forces inside Iran.”

The PDKI is one of Iran’s oldest Kurdish opposition movements. The group has been involved in decades of intermittent conflict with the Islamic Republic, while Tehran has long viewed Kurdish armed groups as separatist threats, while others describe it as a historic, centrist and nationalist Iranian Kurdish opposition group that Iran has targeted for years, including through assassinations of its leaders decades ago.

The Kurds are one of the largest stateless ethnic groups in the Middle East with communities spread across Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. In Iran, many Kurds live in the country’s mountainous west and northwest, where Kurdish opposition groups have long accused Tehran of repression, executions, forced assimilation and military crackdowns. Iranian authorities view armed Kurdish factions as separatist or “terrorist threats.”

The latest clash followed several days of violence in western Iran. A similar incident near Piranshahr was reported by Iranian state media Tuesday, with the IRGC saying it had killed six members of what it called an “opposition and separatist group.”

Two IRGC members were killed and two wounded in a shooting in Kermanshah Province Monday evening, an attack claimed by a newly formed Kurdish armed group seeking retaliation for the IRGC’s role in suppressing the 2022–2023 protest movement, according to the Kurdish rights group Hengaw.

Iran also appeared to be expanding pressure on Kurdish opposition groups beyond PJAK, the Kurdistan Free Life Party, after days of clashes between PJAK and the IRGC, The Jerusalem Post reported Thursday.

Berenji said the latest clash was not a response to ongoing U.S.–Iran memorandum of understanding negotiations, which remain unresolved as talks continue without a finalized agreement.

“The Kurdish struggle for freedom, democracy and national rights predates the current negotiations and is not dependent on them,” Berenji said. “At the same time, any agreement that ignores the Kurdish question, the regime’s attacks on Kurdish civilians and the repression inside Iran will not bring real stability.”

Gly said Kurdish anger has been compounded by language in the U.S.–Iran memorandum of understanding that critics interpret as Washington agreeing not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs.

“This sentence has taken every Iranian opposition group the wrong way, especially the Kurds,” Gly said.

He argued that even during negotiations with hostile powers, the United States should not abandon its public support for freedom movements, invoking former President Ronald Reagan’s approach to the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

Gly said he does not see clear evidence that Kurdish groups have gained major new military capabilities but said the perception of Iran’s strength has changed.

“What has changed is the perception of weakness of Iran,” Gly told News Media. “They are less afraid of the regime.”

The new violence carries broader significance for Washington because Iranian Kurdish opposition groups were recently discussed as a possible ground pressure point against Tehran.

U.S. officials and Kurdish groups had discussed a potential military operation against Iranian security forces in western Iran, Reuters reported in March, while a separate report said Israel was backing Iranian Kurdish plans to seize Iranian border areas, though such an operation would likely require U.S. and Israeli support.

But those expectations quickly faltered. In April, Kurdish fighters ultimately stayed out of the war because of mixed signals from Washington and Israel and Iranian threats and strikes against Kurdish positions in Iraq. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged President Donald Trump during the conflict to prevent Kurdish forces from launching a ground operation inside Iran, reflecting Ankara’s longstanding opposition to Kurdish armed movements gaining ground in the region, Reuters also reported.

During the conflict, Trump told Reuters he would be “all for it” if the Kurds wanted to move against Iran and said their objective should be “to win,” but Kurdish commanders were frustrated by the lack of a clear U.S. or Israeli strategy.

Berenji said the PDKI does not seek chaos, but insisted Kurdish forces have the right to defend themselves.

“We seek a democratic, pluralistic, secular and federal Iran where all nations and communities can live with dignity and rights,” he said. “But the Kurdish people also have the right to defend themselves against repression, intimidation, and attacks by the IRGC.”

News Media has reached out to Iran’s mission to the United Nations for comment.

Amy Schumer Playfully Jabs at Taylor Swift’s Star-Studded Wedding Bash

While Amy Schumer has insisted that there’s no bad blood between her and Taylor Swift, the sharp-tongued comedian couldn’t resist poking fun at the pop icon’s extravagant wedding affair.

The Trainwreck star, 45, posted a photo to her Instagram Stories on Thursday that seemed targeted at Swift and Travis Kelce, both 36, and seemed to purposefully use bad grammar to sharpen the sting.

“The rehearsal dinner was epic. Can’t wait to see what she’s got in store for us tonight,” quipped the creator of Inside Amy Schumer.

The post included an image of Schumer sporting a wide grin and an unusual outfit featuring a black crew-neck sweater paired with vibrant red shorts, complemented by a pink fanny pack wrapped snugly around her waist.

She completed her quirky look with an orange polka dot scarf draped neatly around her neck, a straw sunhat topping her head, and a cell phone clutched in her hand.

Meanwhile, New York City has been abuzz as a team hired by the singer works tirelessly to transform Madison Square Garden into an enchanting castle appropriate for a fairytale princess.

Approximately 130 NYPD officers and more than 50 detectives are working the wedding events with security on the scale of a presidential visit. Cops will likely arrest anyone crossing the barricades or entering the designated ‘frozen zones’ around the massive celebration.

Schumer, being a New York native who was born on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, might have a bone to pick with Swift as well, hence the tone of her of her latest social media share.

It won’t be the first time Schumer has made Swift the butt of a joke.

Back in 2016, the stand-up comic appeared to diss the outfit worn by the Shake it Off hitmaker at the Grammys – an orange and pink Atelier Versace dress that showed off her abs and most of her legs.

‘Taylor that’s not a thigh gap. This is a thigh gap,’ Schumer cheekily captioned a photo of her in a bikini and jumping into the air with arms raised high, while in the foreground a friend who appeared to be fellow comedian Bridget Everett playfully mugged for the camera.

That post upset some fans who defended Swift as they pounced on Schumer for passing judgments on body image, per refinery29.

‘[A]n exfan. you should be able to celebrate yourselves and your bodies without putting down those with different body shapes,’ one fan snapped.

‘[T]hat’s rude. Can’t we get rid of body shaming? You saying that is like a person calling you fat, and I’m sure you wouldn’t like it. It’s people like you and Hollywood standards that keep girls from feeling comfortable in their own skin,’ another chimed in.

A third jokingly put forth: ‘You’re gonna get a song written about you now.’

Schumer responded to the furor by sharing another tongue-in-cheek picture of her in costume and wearing a faux beard.

‘That’s not a beard this is a beard. So sorry to anyone with a beard this may offend,’ the funny gal wrote. ‘I am a comic and should never make fun of myself at the expense of anyone else that I wasn’t making fun of in the first place. #relax #beard.’

Schumer also took to X, still known as Twitter then, to suggest: ‘How about everyone takes a deep breath.’

‘[Amy] loves Taylor and was making a joke because [she] doesn’t have a thigh gap,’ Schumer’s spokesperson clarified, per Time.

Schumer, meanwhile, filed for divorce from husband, chef Chris Fischer, in January of this year after seven years of marriage. They have a seven-year-old son named Gene David.

The comedian previously stated that her weight loss had nothing to do with the state of her relationship, insisting she shed the pounds ‘to survive’ rather than simply ‘to look hot.’

Preliminary Report Finds No Engine Failure Before Tragic Skydiving Plane Crash Killing 12

BUTLER, Mo. – An initial assessment by federal safety examiners has not identified any significant safety flaws that could have contributed to last month’s tragic plane crash in Missouri. The accident, which occurred during a skydiving excursion, resulted in the deaths of all 12 individuals on board, including several seasoned jumpers.

On Thursday, the National Transportation Safety Board released a preliminary report after examining the crash site. Findings from the report revealed no evidence of mechanical issues or engine failures prior to the accident that would have impeded the plane’s proper functioning.

The agency also confirmed that a post-crash analysis of the fuel truck showed the fuel was uncontaminated, containing no sediment or debris. Additionally, the assessment of the skydiving company’s management software confirmed that the aircraft adhered to the required weight and balance restrictions for the flight.

Notably absent from the aircraft were crashworthy voice or data recorders, as they are not obligatory for planes of this type, investigators clarified. However, the NTSB report did mention that damaged GoPro cameras were found at the crash site and retrieved for analysis.

The federal investigation into this devastating incident is ongoing, with the final report often requiring a year or beyond to be fully concluded.

The June 14 crash happened about an hour south of Kansas City, when the plane carrying a pilot and 11 skydivers took off from Butler Memorial Airport at 11:25 a.m. on a clear day.

During the initial climb, the airplane began a gradual turn to the left, with both wings eventually becoming almost perpendicular to the ground before it slammed into a field, nose down, and burst into flames, investigators said.

The fire inflicted significant damage to the aircraft’s major structural components, as well as the cockpit, the cabin and the fuel system, investigators said.

Some family members of those who died were at the airport to watch the jump and witnessed the crash, authorities said. The United States Parachute Association, skydiving’s governing body, said its technology director, Jen Sharp, was among those killed.

The day of the crash, Dennis Jacobs, the acting airport manager and Bates County Emergency Management Agency director, said he thought the plane was losing power and that the pilot had been trying to land on the nearby highway before it crashed.

The plane was operated by Skydive Kansas City, which called the crash a “devastating loss.”

Poor maintenance is often a factor when skydiving planes crash and the NTSB has previously raised concerns about the weak oversight for skydiving operators in past crash investigations. The agency said after a 2019 crash that killed 11 people in Hawaii that the FAA’s regulatory system isn’t strong enough to ensure the safety of skydiving flights.

The Federal Aviation Administration has yet to adopt the NTSB’s recommendations, but said it established a committee in April that will recommend ways to increase skydiving safety and will consider the safety board’s proposals.

The United States Parachute Association said that Skydive Kansas City adheres to the safety standards set by the largest skydiving organization in the world, including all FAA maintenance requirements. The skydiving industry says it has a strong safety record. The association said that last year nearly 3.5 million jumps were completed and that 16 civilians died, the majority from human error.

The Pacific Aerospace 750XL that crashed is a model that’s popular for skydiving and also has proven useful for carrying cargo, aerial surveying and medical evacuation flights. The aircraft can carry more than 4,000 pounds (1,800 kilograms) and is capable of taking off and landing on short runways, according to the manufacturer.

The single-engine turboprop plane was built in 2010, according to FAA records. It made nine successful flights in the days before the crash, including two on Sunday morning, according to FlightAware, a digital flight tracking company.

Investigators said the pilot held a commercial pilot certificate and had accumulated over 4,100 total flight hours. This year was the pilot’s second consecutive jump season working for Skydive Kansas City, the NTSB said.

Skydive Kansas City reported no prior concerns with the pilot, investigators said, calling him safety-oriented and conservative with his decision making as a jump pilot.
