A long and often desperate search ended last week when a missing girl from Arizona, suspected to have fallen victim to sex trafficking, was discovered nearly 1,500 miles from home in a notorious Washington encampment. This dramatic rescue was reported by the US Marshals.
The investigation launched following a tip received on June 18, relayed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. It highlighted that the girl was last seen in Olympia, Washington, and raised concerns that she might be involved in sex trafficking, as reported by KING 5.
Authorities zeroed in on “The Jungle,” a sprawling 20-acre homeless encampment in Olympia. Armed with detailed information, they were able to refine their search within this precarious area.
This location, notorious for its criminal activities and violence, has a dark history. Back in 2023, KOMO News covered a grim story of a 37-year-old woman who went missing; her remains were tragically discovered in a suitcase within The Jungle.
According to city officials cited by KOMO, The Jungle is home to between 100 to 250 individuals. These numbers are fluid, as people frequently move in and out throughout the year.
The child, who was reported missing from Mesa, Arizona, was found on Thursday after authorities scoured the compound that is filled with trash and debris.
“Protecting our nation’s children is of the highest importance,” said Donrien Stephens, acting US Marshal for the Western District of Washington, according to the outlet. “The excellent investigative efforts, collaboration, and persistence of our local, state, and community partners led to the safe recovery of a youth with an elevated risk of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.”
It’s not clear how the girl went missing and no arrests have been made, according to The Olympian.
The California Post reached out to the US Marshal’s office for additional information.
The child is now in the custody of the Olympia Police Department and the Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families.

In a move that stirred controversy, American soccer coach Jesse Marsch proudly sang the Canadian national anthem before Canada’s World Cup elimination match against South Africa.
Once a player for the U.S. national team, Marsch now leads the Canadian squad. His recent actions reignited a previous uproar caused when he revealed he had to urge his American players to sing the Star-Spangled Banner before games.
On Sunday in Los Angeles, Marsch enthusiastically joined his coaching staff, linking arms and energetically, singing ‘O Canada’ with evident conviction.
Fans took to the platform X to voice their displeasure. A critic remarked, ‘What a complete phony Jesse Marsch is. He should be forced to reside in our 51st state permanently. Cease singing their anthem! Do something about it, @marcorubio.’
Another commented, ‘An American like Jesse Marsch singing the Canadian anthem is sheer performative nonsense,’ while someone else expressed frustration saying, ‘Jesse Marsch is an absolute traitor for singing O’ Canada.’
Marsch, who is the first American in history to manage Canada’s men’s soccer team, previously held the role of assistant coach for the USA at the 2010 World Cup.
Jesse Marsch belted out the Canadian national anthem ahead of the World Cup clash in LA
The American linked arm with his coaching staff and sung O Canada loudly and proudly
‘When I first came, I had to learn a lot about what it meant to be Canadian,’ he said. ‘Being a leader in this sport, I’ve always tried to create an environment where our differences make us stronger, not weaker.
‘From the moment I stepped into the environment with this team, I was impressed by how much they loved each other, how much they were drawn to each other and how much, even though there were differences, their back stories had similarities.
‘Every one of these boys is incredibly Canadian and the pride they have in putting on the jersey, representing the country and hearing the national anthem.
‘In the US sometimes we had to beg players to sing the national anthem. These guys [Canada stars] belt it out to the top of their lungs because they want to show the country how proud they are to be Canadians and to represent what Canada is.’
During his time as an assistant coach for the USA, Marsch worked with the likes of Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey at the World Cup in South Africa.
On the field the players also sung the anthem in front of a largely American crowd in California
Clint Dempsey didn’t sing during the anthem, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t proud, he said
Dempsey, who is working the tournament for Fox and was a key member of the 2010 US squad, disputed that version of events.
‘He really said that?’ Dempsey said. ‘Man, I can’t take this guy too seriously. It was an honor for me growing up [to] represent my country.
‘When the national anthem happened, I wasn’t someone who normally would sing. I put my hand over my heart, and I’d pray to the good man upstairs. I’m someone who’s bled for this country. I broke my nose playing for this country. I’ve come back from two heart procedures and played for this country.’
Then Dempsey questioned Marsch’s loyalty as an American citizen coaching one of his country’s biggest rivals.
‘I’m not going to take advice from someone who switched to the other side and is singing another country’s national anthem,’ Dempsey added. ‘And as my boy [Henry] would say, stay in your own lane. It looks like he’s in a dang moped, so worry about your own team.’
FIFA president Gianni Infantino was also in attendance for the first round of 32 World Cup game
Marsch said American players didn’t sing their anthem prior to games during the 2010 World Cup. Here those players are seen with their hands on their hearts during the anthem
Henry also took issue with Marsch, whom he criticized for portraying his team as an underdog.
Team Canada currently boasts Bayern Munich star left-back Alphonso Davies and Juventus forward Jonathan David, although Marsch’s record with Les Rouges is just 12-12-5 since taking the job in 2024.
And because of Canada’s rising profile in international soccer, Henry is tired of what he views as false modesty. Instead, the legendary Frenchman told the Fox panel, Marsch should get used to facing expectations.
‘You got to walk the walk and talk the talk. You can’t hide behind the fact that you are a decent team,’ Henry said before Canada’s draw. ‘You took a job, by the way, that someone started… That team was already there when he arrived. Yes, he elevated them. Let’s see what he can do today against Bosnia [and Herzegovina].’
Alannah Keyser has issued an apology following her abrupt exit from “Love Island USA” after a video emerged in which she used a racial slur.
Speaking out on TikTok Saturday, the reality star acknowledged the controversy surrounding the video. “I want to address some of the things that have been spreading online,” Keyser began her statement.
Keyser specifically mentioned the video of her singing along to “The Box,” a hit song by rapper Roddy Ricch from 2019, which includes a racial slur. “I sincerely apologize to anyone who has seen that video and was offended. It was never my intention to hurt anyone,” the 21-year-old stated. She emphasized that the video was recorded six years ago and noted that she no longer uses that language.
Additionally, Keyser responded to alleged screenshots circulating on social media, which she claims have been manipulated. “What’s been shared doesn’t represent the truth,” she said, stressing that she has never been a person who judges others based on skin color.
She also addressed circulating screenshots she claimed to “have been falsified,” adding, “What has been shared does not reflect the truth, and it’s never been in my character to discriminate against anybody’s skin color.”
“I do want to say directly that I do not support racism or discrimination of any kind, and I never have,” the reality star continued.
“When I first found out that these things were going around online, it really broke my heart, and I couldn’t do anything about it. But this has definitely been a learning lesson for me, and it sucks that I didn’t get a chance to really show my personality and who I am.”
The video was cut off, but Keyser concluded by reassuring that it was in her “nature to spread positivity and help others.”
“And I will continue to do so,” the USC film school student concluded.
Keyser, 21, was fired from Season 8 of “Love Island” after the video of her resurfaced last week.
“Producers edited Alannah out as much as possible from episodes that were pre-taped before the resurfaced racial slur video was exposed,” an insider told the US Sun.
“She couldn’t be removed completely, but her scenes were significantly trimmed down.”
According to the insider, “producers were disappointed and embarrassed that this has become another mishap.”
Keyser’s time on the show was short-lived, as fans found the clip of her singing the Ricch track just hours after she arrived at Casa Amor.
Additionally, Vasana Montgomery, 25, was also kicked off the show ahead of filming last month when a similar video surfaced.
Authorities have charged two sisters and a friend with murder following the brutal stabbing of a 32-year-old mother of five in Texas, who tragically succumbed to her injuries. The attack occurred in the middle of the day, according to official reports.
The suspects, identified as Kitty Mia Diaz, 21; Amaya Cookie Diaz, 19; and Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, were taken into custody on Thursday. They now face murder charges related to the deadly incident, as announced by the Del Rio Police Department through a Facebook press release.
Local media has identified the victim as Caroline “Caro” Peña, a 32-year-old beloved member of her community.
Caroline Peña’s friend from childhood, Zelina Ochoa, reminisced about her on KENS 5, her voice filled with emotion. “She was born to be a mom,” Ochoa said, as she wiped away tears, emphasizing Peña’s devotion to her children.

Del Rio is a city of 35,000 in southwest Texas near the Mexican border.
Police said officers responded around 2:10 p.m. Thursday to Val Verde Regional Medical Center after receiving a report that a woman had arrived with multiple stab wounds from an assault at a busy intersection.
“This wasn’t something that happened in a back alley; this happened at the corner near Sonic on one of our busiest roads in broad daylight,” Ochoa told KENS 5.
Because of the severity of her injuries, the woman was taken to a San Antonio medical facility for emergency treatment, police said. Investigators were notified around 9 p.m. that she had died after being stabbed twice in the back and a third time in her stomach.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video, processed evidence and interviewed witnesses before identifying Kitty Diaz, Cookie Diaz and Faz as suspects, police said. Kitty Diaz and Cookie Diaz were arrested without incident around 4 p.m. local time Thursday, and Faz was arrested a short time later.
Another friend, Christina Salinas, told the outlet she missed a call from Peña shortly before the stabbing and later recognized her in a photo suffering from the wounds circulating on a community page.
“I feel like if I would have answered that call, honestly I would have been there with her,” Salinas said. “It wouldn’t have gotten like that.”
Police have not publicly released a motive.

Salinas said she rushed to the hospital and was able to say goodbye before Peña was flown to San Antonio.
“That girl, she was a fighter: She was still standing her ground,” Salinas said.
All three suspects were booked at the Del Rio Police Department before being transported to the GEO Correctional Facility, where police said they remained pending court hearings.
The investigation remains active, and police said additional charges could be filed as detectives continue gathering evidence.

Peña is survived by her five children – the oldest a 17-year-old son – and a twin sister, according to reports.
“If you needed something and she had it, even if it was her last, she’d give it to you,” Ochoa told KENS 5.
In a shocking incident, two sisters from Texas were captured smiling as they were detained on suspicion of fatally stabbing a mother of five in broad daylight.
The sisters, identified as Kitty Mia Diaz, aged 21, and her 19-year-old sibling Amaya Cookie Diaz, were apprehended on Thursday in Del Rio, approximately two hours from San Antonio. Their arrest followed the brutal stabbing of Caroline Peña earlier that same day, according to the Del Rio Police Department.
Police reported that officers responded to a call at Val Verde Regional Medical Center around 2:10 p.m. after Peña, affectionately known as ‘Caro’ among friends and family, had arrived suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Despite being urgently transferred to a hospital in San Antonio for surgery, the 32-year-old Peña tragically succumbed to her injuries around 9 p.m.
Investigators quickly determined the location of the stabbing within the small community, using witness statements and surveillance video to identify the suspects involved.
The Diaz sisters were seen on camera being handcuffed and being walked into police patrol cars, but as they did so, they smirked and made sure to glance at the camera.
The clip showed the young women sitting in the police vehicles for a couple of minutes as a woman identifying herself as their mother confronted the man recording the moment.
‘Can you please not record? That’s my house and those are my daughters,’ the woman told the cameraman.

She asked him to stop recording again as the clip panned to her walking away from him and toward police officers.
Along with the Diaz sisters, a third young woman, Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, was also arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing.
The three of them have each been charged with murder and taken to the GEO Correctional Facility, pending magistration, police said.
Additional charges might be added as the investigation into the fatal attack continues, officials stated.
The motive for the grizzly attack remains unclear, but Peña’s family and friends are demanding justice for their loved one.
‘This wasn’t something that happened in a back alley,’ Zelina Ochoa, Peña’s friend, told Kens5.
‘This happened at the corner near Sonic on one of our busiest roads in broad daylight.’
The mother’s friends said videos of the attack were also circulating online, but have since been taken down. One of the clips showed Peña in a blood-soaked shirt as three women surrounded her, the outlet reported.
Peña’s devastated friend said she would drop anything to help others, even when she had five kids of her own to take care of

Ochoa said she first met her friend during a young parenting program that helped them learn how to navigate school after having children at a young age.
‘Me and Caro, we go way, way back. We got to take our sons to school and we did the school thing together while we had our kids to school with us,’ she recalled.
Peña’s devastated friend said she would drop anything to help others, even when she had five kids of her own to take care of.
‘If you needed something and she had it, even if it was her last, she’d give it to you,’ Ochoa added.
Lupita Garza, another friend, agreed that Peña was one of the most caring, selfless people she knew.
‘Caro was one of a kind. She helped everyone who was in need. She brought so much light to so many of us, especially her warm hugs and that one-of-a-kind laugh. She always made sure she had a smile on her face everywhere she went,’ Garza said.
Her best friend, Christina Salinas, said she was with Peña the night before she was murdered.

Another woman, Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, was also arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing
Salinas also revealed that she missed a call from her friend just before the deadly incident.
‘I feel like if I would have answered that call, honestly I would have been there with her. It wouldn’t have gotten like that,’ Salinas stated.
Peña was a mother and twin sister. Her oldest son is 17, and about to graduate, her friends said.
Although her alleged killers have been arrested, Ochoa said that won’t bring her back.
‘Those girls are in jail. Eventually they’ll see [their kids], but Caro is a memory now. Those kids were left without a mom,’ she said.
The police have asked anyone with knowledge of the confrontation to come forward with information.
The Daily Mail contacted the Del Rio Police Department for comment.
CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago’s North Side was bustling with activity on Sunday as massive crowds and roadblocks took over for the 55th annual Pride Parade.
The festivities kicked off at 11 a.m., starting at the corner of Grace Street and Broadway. The parade route traveled south along Broadway, continued on Halsted Street, then east along Belmont Avenue. From there, it headed south again to Diversey Parkway, concluding eastward on Cannon Drive.

ABC7’s Val Warner and Hosea Sanders hosted the Chicago Pride Parade broadcast with Jason Knowles, capturing all the action live from the street. LGBTQIA+ community advocates will join the festivities, including Cody LaGrow (Emmy Award-winning journalist) and Kim Hunt (LGBT Hall of Fame and senior director of AIDS Initiative Chicago).
“ABC7 Chicago is proud of our decades-long commitment to pride, and we are thrilled to be the only Chicago station presenting two hours of live parade coverage on multiple platforms,” said John Idler, president and general manager of ABC7 Chicago. “The station commitment extends well beyond the June celebration, and we look forward to great storytelling all year.
Are you finding it difficult to open jars or carry shopping bags? Discover four simple exercises that can help you regain grip strength in your daily routine.
>
After the age of 60, grip strength becomes an important, yet often neglected, indicator of overall health. Many people only notice its decline when faced with everyday tasks like opening jars, by which time more strength has been lost than they may realize. As a personal trainer with close to four decades of experience, I have dedicated the last 20 years to mentoring future fitness professionals at TRAINFITNESS.
Fortunately, rebuilding grip strength is a relatively swift process, and it doesn’t require fancy gym equipment. With just a towel, a book, and a shopping bag, these four exercises can help you regain that essential strength.
Test Your Balance: Standing on One Leg After 60 Could Mean You’re in Great Shape
Why Grip Strength Matters After 60
The most common pattern I see is a loss of strength across everything the hand has to do at the same time. People can usually still make a fist, but holding a heavy frying pan, opening a jam jar, turning a stiff tap or carrying a full shopping bag becomes a real effort. Thumb weakness from years of wear, especially in women who’ve raised children and done a lot of repetitive hand work, is another common issue, and it’s the bit that makes everyday tasks suddenly feel hard.
The reason grip matters so much goes beyond opening jars. Grip strength is one of the strongest predictors of healthy aging we have. People with weak grips have a higher rate of falls, slower recovery from illness, and a shorter life expectancy than people the same age with strong grips.
That isn’t because the hands themselves matter so much; it’s because grip is a window into the overall muscle health of the body. A strong grip is a flag for a body that’s been used, and a body that’s been used keeps going.
There’s also the practical side. Falls in older adults often come down to whether the hand can catch a banister or grab a worktop in time. A weak grip slips off. A strong grip holds, and you stay upright.
Why Simple Beats Dumbbells
Shutterstock
Three reasons. The first is that the hand needs to be trained in more than one pattern, and dumbbells really only work the crush grip, where you wrap your hand around something. Pinching with the thumb, holding a sustained weight, and twisting are all separate skills that need their own work.
The second is that daily practice beats hard but rare practice for the hand. The tendons and small muscles of the forearm respond very well to short, frequent stimuli and are easy to overdo with heavy dumbbells. A few minutes a day rebuilds tissue tolerance gradually, whereas a heavy weekly session can leave the wrists sore and put you off.
The third is that simple equipment lets you train at the level your hand can handle today, rather than the dumbbell that happens to be in the cupboard. A rolled flannel can be squeezed for a hundred reps. A 4kg dumbbell often can’t be lifted for ten.
The 5 Bodyweight Moves That Firm Your Belly Pooch Faster Than Crunches After 55
Tennis Ball or Towel Squeeze
This trains the crush grip, the most familiar pattern and the one most easily lost. It builds the muscles that fire when you hold a bag handle, a railing or a steering wheel. Done daily, it also feeds blood into the hand tendons, which tend to dry out with age and inactivity.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e
Muscles Trained: Finger flexors, forearm flexors
How to Do It:
Hold a tennis ball, a rolled flannel or a stress ball in one hand
Squeeze hard for 3 seconds
Release slowly over 2 seconds
Aim for 12 to 15 squeezes on one hand, then swap
Do 2 to 3 rounds per side
Avoid These Mistakes:
Don’t hold your breath, which always tightens the wrong muscles
Don’t squeeze so hard that the shoulder tenses up around the ears
Don’t go too fast, which trains nothing.
Book Pinch Hold
This trains the pinch grip, the strength between the thumb and fingertips. This is the part of the hand that fails first in arthritis, and the part dumbbells almost completely ignore. Pinch strength is what lets you hold a phone, a fork, or a small grandchild’s hand without effort.
Muscles Trained: Thumb adductors, finger flexors
How to Do It:
Pick up a hardback book or a small chopping board, fingers on one side and thumb on the other, palm facing inwards
Hold for 20 seconds, keeping the wrist straight
Rest for 20 seconds
Repeat 3 to 5 times per hand
Use a heavier book or a thicker item as you get stronger
Avoid These Mistakes:
Don’t let the book rest against the body to take the load off
Don’t bend the wrist down under the weight
Don’t hold for so long the thumb cramps. Build the time gradually.
4 Standing Exercises That Restore Glute Strength Faster Than Gym Classes After 60
Towel Wring
This trains the forearm rotators that twist a tap, open a stiff jar lid, or wring out a wet cloth. These muscles get almost no daily challenge after retirement, so they’re often the weakest part of the whole arm by 60.
Muscles Trained: Forearm rotators (pronators and supinators), wrist flexors
How to Do It:
Take a hand towel and roll it lengthwise
Soak it in water if you can, which adds resistance and gives the hands something to grip
Hold one end in each hand at chest height
Wring the towel in opposite directions, as if twisting water out of it
Hold the wring for 3 seconds at the end of the range
Reverse direction
Do 10 wrings each way
Avoid These Mistakes:
Don’t twist at the shoulders, rather than the forearms
Don’t hunch the upper back as you twist
Don’t squeeze so hard at the start that you can’t finish the set.
This trains sustained grip strength, the ability to hold a load for a meaningful length of time. This is the missing piece in most grip programs. You can squeeze a ball quickly all day long and still find a full kettle hard to lift if you’ve never trained the hold itself.
Muscles Trained: Forearm flexors, finger flexors
How to Do It:
Fill a sturdy shopping bag with something heavy. A few tins, a bag of potatoes, or a couple of bottles of water work well
Stand tall with the bag in one hand, arm by your side
Walk slowly around the kitchen or hallway for 30 to 60 seconds, or stand still if balance is an issue
Swap hands and repeat
Do 2 to 3 holds per side
Avoid These Mistakes:
Don’t let the shoulder hike up under the load. Keep the shoulder relaxed and pulled gently down
Don’t bend sideways at the waist to compensate
Don’t use a bag with a thin, biting handle. Thicker handles are easier on the fingers, but train both if you can.
How to Fit This Into Your Week
Shutterstock
The whole sequence takes about six minutes. Run it once a day if you can, or split it throughout the day if that suits you better. Squeeze the ball while watching the news, pinch the book while the kettle boils, do the towel wring in the kitchen, and carry the shopping bag on your way to put something away.
If a daily session feels too much to begin with, three to four times a week is a fine starting point. The hands respond very quickly, even at this frequency, which is what makes grip so satisfying to train.
Aim for a rest day every seven to ten days, especially in the first month. The forearms aren’t used to this much focused work, and a deliberate day off lets them rebuild.
Working Around Arthritis or Injury
Shutterstock
Arthritis in the hand needs gentle, frequent work rather than hard sessions. Warm the hands first. A bowl of warm water or a flannel held under a warm tap for a minute makes a real difference to what the joints will tolerate. Stick to the squeeze and the towel wring at first, both of which are easier on the joints than the pinch and the carry.
If you have a previous wrist or thumb injury, swap the pinch for a wider hold on the book, using all four fingers and the heel of the thumb together rather than the fingertips. This still trains the grip but takes the load off the bit that’s been damaged.
For everyone, sharp pain means stop. A steady muscle pull, even a strong one, is fine. A sharp catch or a hot ache in a joint is the body asking you to back off. Reduce the load, the duration, or the range and try again tomorrow.
5 Bed Exercises That Ease Morning Stiffness Faster Than Yoga After 60
What to Expect in 4 to 6 Weeks
Shutterstock
Two weeks in, you should notice jars opening more easily, kettles feeling lighter, and the shopping carry from car to kitchen being less of a chore. The early gains in grip are mostly neural, the brain recruiting more fibres in the muscles you already have, and they come fast.
By 4 to 6 weeks, the actual muscle in the forearms starts to thicken slightly, and you’ll both see and feel the difference. Forearms that look strong are something most adults haven’t seen on themselves in years.
A simple way to check progress is to time a hang from a sturdy doorway pull-up bar or even the back of a heavy wooden door at the start, and then again at four weeks. Doubling your time is common in the first month. If a hang isn’t suitable, time how long you can hold a heavy shopping bag in one hand against a stopwatch, then repeat the same bag a month later.
The gold standard test is a hand dynamometer, the squeezing device GPs sometimes use. They cost around twenty pounds online and give you a number you can track. For most people the shopping bag works just as well.
On Saturday night, celebrity streamer N3on enjoyed a lively evening with former Chargers running back Najee Harris, as they attended the Giants’ sweeping 5-0 victory over the Braves at home.
Throughout the game, the duo remained together, sharing and livestreaming a series of comedic and memorable interactions that captivated viewers.
Prior to the match, Harris and N3on were spotted near the Giants’ dugout. First baseman Bryce Eldridge approached Harris, revealing he was also an Alabama commit and a childhood Ravens fan. Eldridge humorously admitted, “It was hard to root for you for a little bit.”
Harris has a history with Baltimore’s rival, the Steelers, where he spent the early four years of his NFL journey before joining the Chargers.
As their conversation concluded, N3on awkwardly stood beside Harris, unnoticed by Eldridge. Before Eldridge returned to his warmup, the streamer introduced himself, saying, “Hello, sir, very nice to meet you. Go kill it out there, brother. Good luck. You smell great!” Eldridge was left bemused by the unexpected compliment about his scent.
As the two continued hanging out on the field during pregame warmups, N3on told Harris that in the NBA, once the game ends, players will go straight to their phone and start messaging fans who were critical of their performance.
But what happened next turned out to be even more shocking. Harris told the streamer that in the NFL, once halftime hits, players will immediately go on their phones, just to see what fans are saying about them during the game.
“Some people run straight to their phones and check they things,” Harris said. “See if someone is posting about them, it’s hella funny.”
Harris confirmed afterward that he has never checked his phone during halftime to see what fans are saying about him during games.

As the two of them were heading to their seats later in the evening, a Giants fan walked by them and told N3on, “You suck, bro,” to which Harris replied, “Why did he do that?”
Looking back at the fan and visibly upset by the interaction, Harris asked the security team why the fan said that to them, and they told them to just ignore it and that he was drunk.
Harris went on to say if he said that to him, “I would’ve beat the f–k outta him.”
A Florida man without a driving license, responsible for the tragic accident that claimed the lives of three children and injured three others, made a final emotional appeal before learning his fate in court—a 73-year prison sentence.
On December 27, 2021, Sean Greer, aged 27 at the time, veered his car onto a pedestrian sidewalk in Wilton Manors, just north of Fort Lauderdale. Attempting to bypass a bus that had recently completed a stop, he lost control of his vehicle.
His gray 2009 Honda Accord collided with a group of young pedestrians. Tragically, five-year-old Paris Jones and six-year-old Andrea Fleming were killed on impact.
The devastation deepened when nine-year-old Laziyah ‘Minnie’ Stukes succumbed to her wounds in July 2022, several months after the incident. Greer fled the scene, neglecting to alert authorities or render aid to the injured children.
The collision left three other children, namely Audre Fleming, Draya Fleming, and Johnathan Carter—relatives of the deceased—injured but alive. They were en route from a nearby park to a relative’s home when the tragedy struck.
In February, Greer pleaded no contest to 15 felony charges, including three counts each of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death and leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury.
He originally faced a slew of 26 charges, according to Broward County court records. Seven of those charges stemmed from him driving with a license that was suspended in 2016.
At his sentencing hearing on Thursday, Greer, now 32, apologized to the families of his victims. ‘I do want you to understand, I was on my way home from Walmart with a bag of groceries. In no way, shape or form did I wake up that morning and said I’m gonna go run some kids down,’ he said.

Among Greer’s victims was nine-year-old Laziyah ‘Minnie’ Stukes. She died from her injuries almost seven months after the crash
Six-year-old Andrea Flemming was one of the other victims. She died immediately after being struck by Greer’s 2009 Honda Accord in December 2021
Five-year-old Paris Jones was Greer’s third victim. She also died immediately after being struck by the vehicle. The children were all on a sidewalk
‘I’m so sorry. What I need you to understand it was just an accident. I was on probation for burglary… I want you to know I’m sorry. I just want you all to have peace,’ Greer continued per the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
The killer driver’s sister, Jessica Greer, appeared in court over Zoom and attempted to build sympathy for her brother.
‘He was willing to take his life that day,’ she said before explaining that the siblings had a difficult upbringing.
‘By the time I was six we were in the foster care system because my mom was in jail and my father was nowhere to be found,’ the sister said.
But the families of the victims were unfazed and called for their children’s killer to be punished harshly.
‘No one cares about your upbringing,’ said Devera Stukes, the mother of nine-year-old Laziyah ‘Minnie’ Stukes, according to WPLG. ‘Our children were not on Powerline Road but on the sidewalk.’
‘I was going to forgive you, man, but I can’t. I can’t forgive after what you took from me,’ said Gregory Holcomb, grandfather of six-year-old Andrea Fleming.
‘You killed those kids, my baby, and you left them in the street,’ said Tyricka Williams, the mother of Andrea Fleming.

Greer’s defense asked that their client be sentenced to 35 years in prison, while prosecutors asked for a sentence of at least 48 years.
After hearing both sides, Judge Andrew Siegel sentenced Greer to a dozen concurrent 48-year terms for the leaving the scene of a fatal accident and vehicular homicide charges.
He also sentenced Greer to a consecutive 25-year term for one of his leaving the scene charges, for a total of 73 years behind bars.
Greer had also been sentenced to 35 years in prison for violating probation on the burglary case he mentioned in court. That sentence will also run concurrently with the other terms.
Siegel said he believed Greer’s apology and that his regret was legitimate, though the judge determined that was not enough to warrant a lighter sentence.

Tragedy struck in Alabama when a woman’s life was abruptly ended by her boyfriend, who later died from a heart attack as he tried to conceal the crime.
“He suffered a heart attack while attempting to hide her body,” confirmed 5th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Mike Segrest in a conversation with AL.com. The man in question was Daniel Robbins, a 44-year-old resident of Georgia, who was responsible for the death of his 47-year-old girlfriend, Jessica Folds, earlier in June.
“Their bodies were discovered together,” Segrest added.
According to reports from Georgia’s WTVM, Folds and Robbins were involved romantically before the fatal incident. Their bodies were located on June 10 at approximately 12:30 p.m., following a call to Chambers County sheriff’s deputies to investigate an abandoned vehicle along County Road 86 in Lanett.
“Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased white female and white male in a wooded area near the vehicle,” the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was called in to investigate, and the bodies were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for autopsies to determine their causes of death.
“Based on the investigation … the female victim was strangled, and it appears the male was attempting to dispose of the body in a remote location,” Segrest told AL.com.
The abandoned vehicle that police found was still running when deputies arrived on scene. The driver’s side door was open and the tailgate was down, according to Segrest. There were drag marks found in the dirt from the truck to the location in the woods where the bodies were found.
Investigators believe Robbins was in the middle of moving Folds’ body and attempting to dump it when he collapsed and had the fatal heart attack. His ex-wife told WTVM that he had a preexisting heart condition.
Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson told the station that the location where Folds and Robbins were found is believed to be a drop site, not the location where Folds was killed. He said the person who reported the abandoned truck also saw the couple’s bodies in the woods but thought they were mannequins.
According to Nelson, Folds was found with her hands raised over her head, while Robbins was in a fetal position. Folds reportedly lived just a few miles from the discovery site with Robbins in Lanett. Robbins was living in Macon, Georgia.
An obituary for Folds describes her as a mother of three who “lived and worked many places in the Auburn-Opelika area” of Alabama.
“Jessica touched the lives of many with her heart of gold, deep love for everyone, and smile that brightened the world,” the obituary says.
An obituary for Robbins, which was posted after his body was initially discovered but has since been taken down, says he was a father and “country boy” who worked as a welder and farmer, AL.com reports.
Officials have not released a motive for Folds’ killing.
