Triumph Over Sickle Cell: Woman Defies Doctors’ Predictions and Thrives Beyond Age 35

A remarkable story has taken the internet by storm, featuring a woman who claims to have experienced an unexpected turn in her battle with sickle cell disease, a condition she has grappled with for most of her life. Her story has stirred a mix of hope, curiosity, and skepticism among those who have come across it.

In a heartfelt social media post, this woman recounted the continuous health battles she faced, which she believes were miraculously resolved following a period of profound prayer. Her narrative details a lifetime of struggles, beginning from her birth with sickle cell disease, through numerous health crises that shadowed her from childhood well into her adult years.

Years of illness and complications

She described how the disease had been the source of relentless pain and had caused significant organ damage by the time she reached 28. The prognosis from her doctors was grim, suggesting she might not live past 35 due to the advanced complications associated with her condition.

Despite the medical expectations, her story takes a surprising turn, as she asserts that she no longer exhibits any symptoms of the disease. Her account has captured widespread attention and has become a point of discussion, with many expressing amazement and others seeking more details about her journey and the role of faith in her recovery.

The woman further claimed that doctors had informed her she was unlikely to live beyond the age of 35 due to the severity of her medical complications.

Her story gained attention as she recounted a particularly severe health episode that she said became a turning point in her life.

“I was born with sickle cell disease. I had Crisis after crisis, constant pain, multiple organ damage by age 28. Doctors said I wouldn’t see 35. During one brutal episode, I prayed like never before while hooked up to morphine. The pain vanished overnight. Follow up tests showed my hemoglobin was normal. No sickle cells. Geneticists ran every test, markers for the disease had disappeared. I haven’t had a crisis in 4 years. My hematologist calls me the walking miracle file. You have to believe that there is God.”

Post sparks debate online

The woman’s testimony quickly generated reactions across social media platforms, with many users describing the account as inspiring and faith-affirming.

Others discussed the medical aspects of the claim, while some pointed to ongoing conversations about healing testimonies and extraordinary recoveries from serious illnesses.

As the post continues to circulate, it has fueled discussions about faith, medicine and personal experiences with chronic illness.

Many commenters have shared their own stories of recovery, while others continue to debate the circumstances behind the woman’s reported transformation.

Majority Supports Monarchy: A.N. Wilson Outlines Essential Next Steps for the Future of Royalty

0

Many might find it surprising that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, after being ousted from his lavish Royal Lodge residence in Windsor Great Park, may be eligible for compensation exceeding £300,000.

This potential payout arises because when the King relocated his brother to a sizeable farmhouse in Sandringham, Andrew was reportedly evicted without adequate notice.

Despite the fact that Andrew was residing in Royal Lodge—owned by the Crown Estate—at a rent significantly below market value, this does not change the legal situation. According to his lease terms, he is entitled to £301,967.66.

This information comes from a National Audit Office report, which examined the living arrangements of the Royal Family members following a Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee inquiry triggered by the Royal Lodge controversy.

However, it’s important to note that Andrew might face substantial dilapidation costs, potentially exceeding £300,000, which could negate any compensation he might receive.

But the important matter here is not whether a narrowly legalistic reading of a lease should allow Mr Mountbatten-Windsor a single penny. It is the appalling stench surrounding his domestic set-up and the fact that the compensation package should ever have existed in the first place.

For what the NAO report lays bare is that royal living conditions are, in financial terms, very favourable.

We learn that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, for instance, have been living at grand palace properties with rents set at 60 per cent of market value. And that, even then, they do not pay a penny because the late Queen used to stump up for their rents and now King Charles does.

Beatrice and Eugenie have been living with rents that were set at 60 per cent of market value

Beatrice and Eugenie have been living with rents that were set at 60 per cent of market value

There has to be a root and branch overhaul in the way Britain finances the Royal Family

There has to be a root and branch overhaul in the way Britain finances the Royal Family

There’s also the fact that many members of the Royal Family, including Andrew before he moved to Sandringham, have been subletting properties and potentially pocketing the proceeds.

None of the details in themselves give us grounds for wanting to abolish the monarchy. But the story as a whole – and this is the really damaging thing – gives strength to republicans.

At the moment, in spite of Andrew’s reputation, the monarchy is still popular. People feel sympathy with the old King in his illness, and they want to give brave Kate and Prince William a chance.

And up to this point, it has still been possible to see Andrew as the Black Sheep of the Royal Family, whose behaviour was an embarrassment to a group of otherwise public-spirited individuals: the ‘working’ royals.

While he was Trade Envoy he was coarse, rude, foul-mouthed and inefficient. He was also costing us, the taxpayers, disgracefully large sums of money.

His gross extravagance alongside that of his preposterous ex-wife Fergie was a matter of legend even before the two of them were mercilessly exposed by his biographer Andrew Lownie in his book Entitled.

The Jeffrey Epstein files made it clear that these two sleaze-bag royals were, to put it mildly, wildly indiscreet friends of a really dangerous sex-predator and blackmailing networker. Even so, the damage could to a certain extent be confined to the Yorks rather than infecting the rest of the monarchy.

The questions about his living arrangements in Royal Lodge, Windsor, however, drew public attention to a more general fact. Namely, that Andrew was not alone in enjoying extraordinary domestic privileges.

When the public came to learn the terms of his residence at Royal Lodge, questions began to emerge about other members of the Royal Family. Who was funding them? And just how ‘entitled’ were the ‘good’ royals to their various grace and favour residences?

As it turns out, they appear to have been very entitled indeed. And unless the royals are careful, this could become a serious problem.

Because if they lose public favour, in this so-called age of equality, their attitude to money and property will be used as the weapon to bring them down. Any attempt at evading transparency will compound the problem.

This is why royalists should welcome full public scrutiny of their financial affairs. As should the royals themselves, even though they might find such scrutiny uncomfortable.

Until quite recently, it has been the convention that the royal finances should be swathed in secrecy.

But that has changed now we have learned that Andrew and other royals have been heavily subsidised by the tax-payer as they lived in properties belonging to the Crown Estate whose net profits are surrendered to the Treasury in return for some of the sum being used to publicly fund the Royal Family.

Yet not only was Andrew allowed to live cheaply at Royal Lodge, but he was allowed to potentially pocket the rent from three cottages that came with it as his own. He was not the only one.

Edward and Sophie Edinburgh live at the enormous Bagshot Park at what is in effect a peppercorn rent. Just like Andrew in Royal Lodge, their lease allows them to sublet parts of the house, and three houses on their estate.

The rent goes not to the Crown Estate but, potentially, into their pockets. This can not be justified on any level. Matters are perhaps even more damaging when it comes to the favourable rates granted to non-working royals such as Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.

Eleven members of the Royal Family live in ‘grace and favour’ apartments in St James’s Palace and Kensington Palace. It is now vital that every one of them is able to justify their preferable terms.

These preferential domestic arrangements make clear that the Royal Family are only at the beginning of a very steep learning curve.

They must learn that the public, who in general are well-disposed to them personally, and to the idea of monarchy, will not go on allowing them to live luxuriously while so many of their fellow-Britons are feeling the pinch.

There has to be a root and branch overhaul of the way in which Britain finances its Royal Family.

It is too late to expect King Charles III to understand the point of what I am saying. He is a master of extravagance.

While he was Prince of Wales, and therefore also Duke of Cornwall, he continued to suppose that the revenues of the Duchy were his personal property, enabling him to buy Highgrove, and a retreat in Romania. As well as Sandringham and Balmoral, which are his personal property, he has Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace and Windsor Castle as his official residences. In Scotland he has Birkhall and the Castle of Mey.

His son Prince William has begun to see the truth that the income from the Duchy of Cornwall is in effect public money. Whether he is right to seek to sell off large slices of the estate – he recently announced he would get rid of 20 per cent of its 128,000 acres to fund worthy causes – is another matter.

What the NAO report has shown is the extent to which the seven working, and many other non-working, royals are still living in a past where no questions were asked.

The majority of people in Great Britain are in favour of a monarchy. But we are not in favour of a Royal Family whose sense of entitlement blinds them to a situation which has become utterly intolerable.

Alabama Student, 20, Missing in Japan After Seeking Space Following Family Dispute

0

The disappearance of an American college student in Japan has left his family in distress, as they reveal details of a disagreement that preceded his vanishing. James ‘Weston’ Higginbotham, a 20-year-old student from Auburn University, was last seen in Kyoto on May 29.

The trip to Japan was meant to be a joyful occasion, celebrating his younger brother’s graduation. However, it took a troubling turn when Higginbotham, described by his family as ’emotionally distressed,’ went missing.

His mother, Nancy Higginbotham, shared with Fox News the circumstances leading up to his disappearance. A family argument had erupted, leading to a mutual decision to part ways temporarily. “We decided to separate,” Nancy explained. “We had been, you know, kind of bickering with each other, and we decided, you go do your own thing, we do our thing.”

This insight into family dynamics adds a layer of complexity to the mysterious case, as the search for the missing student continues. His family remains hopeful for his safe return, grappling with the emotional weight of the situation.

‘We decided to separate. We had been, you know, kind of bickering with each other, and we decided, you go do your own thing, we do our thing,’ Nancy told Fox News.

‘I mean he’s 20 years old, he’s extremely well-traveled, he’s a wonderful navigator, and so we went to the temples, and then he went by the river,’ she added.

Nancy described ‘bickering’ as normal, with the family sharing twin beds in a hotel room for six days together. She said he ‘just needed time by himself,’ and that his ‘happy place is going on a trail or just going on a hike.’

As the search for her son nears a week, Nancy made an emotional plea, telling CNN: ‘I need him back because a family of three is not the Higginbotham’s, we’re a family of four.’

After his disappearance, James’ family was able to track him down on Life360, an app that allows families to track their locations, Nancy said.

It showed that James, who also goes by Weston, was by a river, visited a few stores, and then boarded a local train before his location went ‘completely dark,’ she stated.

He was last seen on surveillance footage getting off a train at the Yamashina Station on Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday, Nancy and her husband, Keith, shared a heartbreaking video on social media amid the search for their child.

The couple thanked everyone who had offered support for their ‘thoughts and prayers,’ with Nancy adding, ‘We truly feel them.’

‘We do feel the love and the support that you guys have given us and that the community in Japan has given us as well.

‘Every time that you guys repost on social media, it’s an opportunity for somebody in Japan to see it,’ Nancy continued, explaining that their ‘ultimate goal is for people in Japan to see Weston’s face so they can report back to us.’

The parents encouraged people to continue sharing their posts about Higginbotham on social media as it is a ‘chance for somebody in Japan to see it.’

‘That’s our ultimate goal, for people in Japan to see Weston’s face, so that they can report back to us. It’s just been instrumental,’ Nancy said.

‘If you know Weston, you know what a great kid he is. He has a heart of gold, and we all want him to come back safely.’

Keith then said that the support they have received on social media thus far has gotten them ‘closer and closer to finding him.

‘We’re confident we’re going to find him because of everybody’s help and posting, and getting the word out so we can find the person who’s gonna find him.’

James was last seen wearing a white t-shirt with a graphic on the back that reads ‘Save the Bees’, lavender corduroy pants, white Adidas sneakers with black stripes, and a shoulder bag ‘with the state of Alabama on it’, according to a website that was made to help people search for him.

The young man, who is 6ft 1in tall, also has long blonde hair, blue eyes.

His family and friends have requested that people in the area search hotels, cafes, hostels, train stations, stores, and even the ‘deep woods’ for their son.

His heartbroken mother also noted for people not to publicly share her son’s location if they locate him, and to instead call local police ‘immediately’ before messaging her.

The website provides multiple contacts to reach out to, including Nancy’s personal email and phone number, the number for the Yamashina Police Station, and others.

Locals have also been standing at the train station he was last seen at, passing our missing flyers and spreading the word about his disappearance.

Four Effective Home Exercises to Firm Love Handles Faster Than Leg Press After 60

If you’re on a mission to trim your waistline, consider incorporating these exercises into your regimen.

Reaching your senior years should be a time of excitement and anticipation. This stage of life can bring opportunities for retirement, traveling, and enjoying time with grandchildren. However, it can also present a few unexpected challenges, such as the appearance of love handles.

As we age, our hormones fluctuate, muscle mass diminishes, and metabolism slows down. Without lifestyle adjustments, these changes can lead to the development of love handles, or excess fat around the waist.

We consulted with Terry Tateossian, the Founder and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Coach at THOR – The House of Rose. Terry specializes in women’s health and weight management for those over 40 and has completed extensive training in these areas. She shared a plan focused on four effective home exercises designed to tackle love handles more efficiently than traditional leg presses for those over 60.

We spoke with Terry Tateossian, Founder, Certified Lifestyle Medicine Coach, Trainer, and Nutritionist for Women 40+ at THOR – The House of Rose, who has completed a variety of advanced training to support her work in women’s health and middle-aged weight loss, and have just the plan to work on this area of the body. Below are four home exercises you can do to firm love handles faster than leg press after 60.

Side Plank

“Side planks are great because they directly target the oblique chain. And knees down allows for a modification that makes it safe and sustainable for people just starting out who often cannot hold a side plank long enough to build real strength. And it’s great for visibly tightening up the waistline,” Tateossian says.

  1. Begin by lying on your side and placing your elbow below your shoulder.
  2. Your feet should be stacked.
  3. Lift your hips off the floor so that your body forms a straight line from your head to your feet.
  4. Hold for the prescribed amount of time.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 30 to 60 seconds on each side, resting for 60 seconds.

Bird Dog

“We call this the anti-rotation exercise. The body wants to twist but the deep obliques and lower back stabilizers have to fire to prevent that from happening. It firms the waist and the diagonal loading pattern reaches the muscles around the love handles,” Tateossian says.

  1. Start on all fours.
  2. Extend your left arm and right leg.
  3. Hold for a moment before returning to the start position.
  4. Switch sides and continue to alternate.
  5. Complete 3 to 4 sets, 20 reps total, with 60 seconds of rest.

Standing Oblique Reach

“These are deceptively gentle but do real work because the descent is fast and the ascent is slow. The muscles are working against gravity in the concentric phase, which is great for building strength in the obliques,” Tateossian tells us.

  1. Begin standing tall with your feet hip-distance apart and arms at your sides.
  2. Reach one arm overhead, lengthening through the side of your body.
  3. As you reach, bend your torso toward the opposite side, feeling a solid side stretch.
  4. Return to the start position with control.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 8 reps per side.

Standing Paloff Press

“This is also an anti-rotational exercise that would put it in the top three for waist firmness at any age and especially after 60,” Tateossian points out. “The deep core muscles that wrap around the waist fire harder against a steady rotational pull.”

  1. Stand tall, perpendicular to an anchor point, with your feet hip-width apart and a soft bend in your knees.
  2. Hold a resistance band at chest level.
  3. Breathe out as you extend your arms ahead of you, resisting rotation.
  4. Return your arms to the starting position.
  5. Perform 3 to 4 sets of 10 reps per side.

Heartwarming Encounter: Kate Middleton Offers Emotional Support to Brave Mom Concluding Cancer Battle

0

Kate Middleton experienced a poignant connection with a fellow mother who had just completed her cancer treatment during a royal visit on Thursday.

The Princess of Wales, who disclosed her battle with cancer in March 2024 and celebrated her remission by January 2025, encountered 30-year-old Claire Lorente on her last day of breast cancer therapy while at The Christie cancer center in Manchester, England.

Upon meeting, Kate warmly hugged Lorente and congratulated her on this significant achievement, as captured in a video shared by Hello! magazine.

“Well done you!” the royal expressed with genuine enthusiasm.

Throughout their conversation, Kate gently rested her hand on Lorente’s arm, inquiring about the duration of her treatment journey.

Calling it an “amazing day” after a “tough” journey, the princess listened as a tearful Lorente explained that she had been receiving treatment for nearly six months and still had surgery ahead.

The conversation appeared especially meaningful given Kate’s own recent health battle.

The mother of three also acknowledged the toll cancer takes on loved ones, turning to Lorente’s partner and saying, “I know it’s just as hard for families and loved ones.”

“I know how hard it was for the children and my parents,” Kate continued. “You go through it with them.”

Kate then greeted the couple’s baby and said, “Isn’t Mummy brave?”

As Lorente prepared to ring the ceremonial bell marking the completion of her treatment, Kate stepped back to give her the spotlight.

“This is your day,” she told her.

She then smiled and applauded as an emotional Lorente rang the bell, a moment that often symbolizes the end of a cancer patient’s treatment journey.

Kate visited The Christie to learn more about the center’s free support services, which help cancer patients and their families cope with the emotional and physical challenges of treatment.

The outing marked another cancer-focused engagement for the princess as she gradually returns to public duties following her own treatment.

Earlier this week, Kate joined King Charles III and other members of the royal family at a reception celebrating the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research UK.

The event was notable because it marked the first time Kate and Charles publicly supported a cancer-related cause together since both disclosed their diagnoses in 2024.

Charles, 77, continues to undergo treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

Prince William gave an emotional update last month on Kate’s recovery from her cancer battle following her recent solo trip to Italy — the first overseas trip since her diagnosis.

“I’m so proud — incredibly proud,” the Prince of Wales said in an interview with “Heart Breakfast” hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden.

“She’s been amazing,” he added of his wife. “She’s been through so much over the past couple of years, particularly. And she’d been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot, so I’m really glad it went really well.”

High-Stakes Trial Begins: Karmelo Anthony’s Defense and Prosecutors Clash in Groundbreaking Legal Battle

0

In the unfolding drama of the Karmelo Anthony murder trial, jurors were presented on Thursday with a chilling 911 call, surveillance video, and heartfelt testimonies from coaches and trainers who desperately attempted to save Austin Metcalf. The tragic incident occurred when the young Texan was fatally stabbed during a high school track meet.

Nineteen-year-old Anthony has entered a plea of not guilty concerning Metcalf’s stabbing death in April 2025, claiming he acted in self-defense. The case has captivated the nation, sparking widespread debate and scrutiny over the events that led to the deadly altercation.

Providing insight into the legal stakes, Texas defense attorney and legal analyst Jeremy Rosenthal explained to News Media that the jury’s primary challenge is to determine whether Anthony’s conduct was criminal or if it was justified under self-defense laws.

“The defense is shouldering a significant part of the responsibility here,” Rosenthal noted, emphasizing that to secure a self-defense instruction for the jury, they must substantiate their claims regarding that critical split-second decision.”

Rosenthal also noted that opening statements can have an outsized impact on jurors.

“Eighty percent of jurors make up their mind at opening statement and they never change it,” he said, citing trial advocacy studies.

Controversy has engulfed the case, and tensions rose after a jury was selected on Wednesday with no Black jurors.

On Thursday, supporters of both Anthony and Metcalf sparring in a shouting match outside the courthouse, holding signs, yelling profanities and antagonizing each other.

Prosecutors, defense present competing stories

Collin County prosecutor Bill Wirskyke called the stabbing a “provoked unjustified murder” and told jurors, “This case has nothing to do with race. This case is not self-defense.”

Defense attorney Mike Howard argued Anthony reacted in a “split second of fear and chaos” and urged jurors to focus on the evidence rather than the public narrative that has developed around the case.

The outlet reported that Metcalf’s final gasp for air could be heard on the recording.

As the call played, Metcalf’s family could be heard crying. Anthony had his eyes closed during most of the 7-minute call.

Rosenthal said the surveillance footage could become one of the most important pieces of evidence presented during the trial.

“In the 21st century, I think jurors really expect there to be some type of video evidence, either surveillance or cell phone,” he said.

“You’ve got a bunch of teenagers and nobody seems to have any cellphone video of this, which is in some ways surprising,” he added. “A picture’s worth a thousand words.”

Witnesses describe efforts to save Metcalf

Memorial High School athletic trainer Tiffany Whiteaker testified that she rushed to help Metcalf and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

She said she saw a commotion and heard screaming in the stands, and a student ran up to her saying, “he stabbed him and threw the knife in the stands,” pointing at Anthony.

Whitaker testified that she got in front of Anthony, put her hands up and told coach Vincent Hooper to not let him leave.

She said she performed CPR and used an AED until paramedics arrived and Metcalf was taken to hospital, where he later died.

The state later called Joshua Rebmann, an Army veteran and football coach who was among the first adults to reach Metcalf.

Rebmann used his military training to try to save the teen before concluding he would not survive.

“Stay with me, Austin. Stay with me, Austin,” he was heard saying in the background of the 911 call, FOX 4 reported. “Come on, Austin. Come on, Austin.”

Jurors were shown the blood-stained jacket Rebmann used while trying to stop the bleeding.

Coaches recount aftermath

Heritage High School coach Vincent Hooper testified that Anthony told him, “He put his hands on me. I stabbed him.”

Hooper also testified that Anthony became emotional after he warned him that if Metcalf died, he would have changed his life forever.

“Well you know if he dies you change your life for the rest of your life,” Hooper said he told Anthony.

“He won’t die,” Anthony replied, according to Hooper.

Memorial High School track coach Robert Starr became emotional while describing finding Metcalf wounded.

“You just don’t go into someone else’s tent uninvited,” Starr testified, referring to team tents at track meets.

What to watch Friday

As testimony resumes Friday, Rosenthal said one of the key questions will be whether witnesses closest to the confrontation tell a consistent story.

“I sort of view this case like a rock thrown into a pond,” Rosenthal said. “You’ve got the epicenter, and then you’ve got all the ripples out.”

“What’s going to be interesting is, what’s the one person who gets up there and goes against the grain and says something that nobody else has said?” he added.

Additional witnesses are expected to testify Friday as prosecutors continue building their case and jurors continue weighing Anthony’s self-defense claim.

Actor James Handy Fatally Stabbed; Girlfriend’s Son Taken Into Custody

0

James Handy, a seasoned actor known for his roles in blockbuster films like “Jumanji” and “Top Gun: Maverick,” was tragically killed in a stabbing incident outside his home.

The 81-year-old Hollywood veteran fell victim to a deadly attack allegedly carried out by Michael Gledhill, the 44-year-old son of Handy’s girlfriend, who was quickly taken into custody at the scene.

The harrowing sequence of events unfolded when Los Angeles authorities received an alarming call from the suspect at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

During the call, the individual chillingly declared, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,” prompting immediate police response.

Upon arrival at Handy’s residence on Erwin Street in Tarzana, officers discovered the actor lying unresponsive in the front yard, suffering from a severe stab wound to the chest.

Handy was then rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

‘With great sadness I can confirm that the gentleman who was attacked and killed on Wednesday in Tarzana was the actor James Handy,’ Handy’s talent agent, Pam Ellis-Evenas, said in a statement.

His death was an eerie reminder of the brutal stabbing of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner by their disturbed son Nick just miles away in Hollywood.

Following the brutal stabbing on Wednesday morning, security footage obtained by Fox 11 Los Angeles showed the suspect casually walking away from the home, where bloody clothes were seen on the ground.

Authorities say Gledhill later flagged down the responding officers, and told them he is the one they were looking for as law enforcement blocked nearby streets.

Investigators say Gledhill lived at the home with his mother.

A motive for the attack remains unclear, but neighbors have claimed Gledhill and Handy were arguing overnight.

One neighbor also said told Fox 11 he believed Gledhill had been suffering from delusions.

The suspect is now being held on a $2 million bond.

Handy was born in New York City and made his first on-screen appearance in 1977’s Taps in ABC’s Ryan’s Hope that same year.

Handy’s other film credits include an appearance in Logan as the doctor who treated Hugh Jackman’s titular character, and in the 1995 hit Jumanji, Handy played the exterminator.

The actor also had recurring roles on shows like NYPD Blue, on which he played Captain Haverhill, on Alias, on which he played Arthur Devlin, and on Profile, on which he played Lou Handleman.

Handy made appearances on numerous other television shows as well including The West Wing, Castle and The X-Files.

His career stretches back to the 1970s and includes more than 100 acting credits.

Following the news of his death, Scott Alan Smith, professor of Performing Arts at Savannah College of Art and Design, shared how he directed Handy at the Road Theater Company of the Lyons in 2018.

‘Jim was not only a truly great actor, he was also a prince of a man – kind and generous and giving to his cast and audience,’ Smith recounted on Facebook.

Another woman, Nancy Lipner, recounted how Handy had been cast as her father in a play when they were both non-union actors in New York City.

‘I was so glad for how his career took off after The Verdict,’ she continued, noting that she had not spoken to Handy in years but would check his IMDB page from time to time to see how he was doing.

‘This is just awful,’ Lipner wrote.

Fans also took to social media to remember Handy for the many roles he played over the years.

‘James Handy was a great ’90s character actor – always delivered solid, memorable supporting work,’ one X user posted, noting that he was ‘reliable every time.’

Other X users called him a ‘fine character actor’ and ‘the ultimate “that guy” actor, with one fan writing that the first time he saw Handy ‘was in a small but effective role in the movie The Verdict.’

‘Rest in peace, James Handy – you were in everything,’ another netizen posted.

Social media users also lamented the tragedy of Handy’s death, with one X user writing: ‘Wow, Rob Reiner, now James Handy. Just crazy.’

Renowned director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle were found dead with their throats slit inside their $13.5 million home in upscale Brentwood, California in December.

Their youngest son, Nick, 32, was later arrested in connection with their deaths.

He had been seen having a loud argument with his father at a holiday party thrown by TV’s Conan O’Brien just hours before his parents’ bodies were found.

It was their daughter, Romy, who made the grisly discovery inside the sprawling six-bedroom estate.

But Nick, who has a history of mental health issues, has pleaded not guilty to six felony charges, two of first degree murder, two of special circumstances involving multiple murder and two counts of special circumstances using a deadly weapon, a knife.

He remains behind bars prior to his next court appearance in September.

US Criticizes UK’s ‘Dual Policing’ Approach Amid Student Murder Protests: A Deep Dive

in brief

  • The police’s handling of the murder of a white student by a Sikh man has sparked racial tension in the United Kingdom.
  • Keir Starmer has hit back at Elon Musk for “trying to whip up division” over the student’s death.

The United States has voiced criticism over the United Kingdom’s management of a highly sensitive murder case involving a Sikh man and a white student, which has incited widespread protests.

The incident revolves around the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Henry Nowak in Southampton last December. Nowak, who was in handcuffs while seriously injured, became the center of a politically charged debate within the UK.

Vickrum Digwa, the assailant, allegedly misled authorities by claiming that Nowak had subjected him to racial abuse and portrayed himself as the victim in the situation.

Far-right groups have seized upon this case, suggesting it exemplifies “two-tier policing,” where law enforcement purportedly shows lenience towards ethnic minorities.

On Friday, the U.S. State Department echoed these concerns in an official statement, aligning with the notion of unequal treatment in the handling of the case.

“Ideological conditioning and two-tiered policing are glaring symptoms of civilizational decline,” the agency said in a post on X. “They must be rejected across the West.”

It added: “The United States sends our condolences to the family of Henry Nowak and the people of the United Kingdom at this troubling time.”

Digwa, 23, was jailed for at least 21 years on Monday.

Sikh leaders in the UK have called for harmony after clashes between far-right groups and police led to injuries.

Two people have been arrested, and 11 officers and a service dog have been wounded following violent protests in the Portswood area, near Digwa’s home.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said there was “no justification” for the violence seen in Southampton on Wednesday after far-right agitators threw bricks, flares, and chairs at police officers.

Starmer hits back at Elon Musk

Starmer accused US tech tycoon Elon Musk on Friday of “trying to whip up division” in the UK over the death of Nowak.

The Tesla CEO has posted about the incident multiple times on his X social media platform criticising the police response to the stabbing.

In one post, Musk falsely asked whether people knew that “official police policy requires them to be racist against Whites?”

Police bodycam footage of Nowak’s arrest has been viewed and shared millions of times on X.

Musk has offered to fund a private prosecution against the police over its handling of the murder and insulted the Hampshire Police force involved.

“We need to also assert who we are as a country, because Musk, again, has been interfering in our politics in the last few days, trying to whip up division,” Starmer told reporters.

“When we have a terrible case like Henry’s case … we react calmly, as his family have done,” Starmer said, following pleas from Nowak’s father that his son’s murder should not be used “to create further division, hatred or tension”.

Musk has long been an outspoken critic of Starmer, who previously served as a chief state prosecutor.

In a clash last year over a decades-long “grooming gangs” sexual abuse scandal, Starmer accused the world’s richest man of “spreading lies and misinformation”.

Right-wing politician ‘unforgivable’

The prime minister said it was “unforgivable” that hard-right firebrand Nigel Farage, whose Reform UK party is leading in the polls, had called for people to respond to the murder with “pure cold rage”.

Farage, who has been accused of stoking racial tensions with his remarks, claimed that a two-tier policing culture does exist in the UK, under which the rights of white people matter less than those of non-white people.

“The division will get far worse,” Farage said later.

“What you saw in Southampton last night is the beginning. If we get large numbers of young white males who think the police are prejudiced against them, goodness knows where we go. This has to end.”

Defending his comments, Farage told the UK’s right-wing GB News television channel that he “condemned all violence”.

“I’ve never, in 35 years of being in politics, advocated people going outside the law,” he said.

Starmer has called the bodycam footage of Nowak’s death, during which the victim can repeatedly be heard telling officers he could not breathe, “harrowing”.

On Friday, he said there were “difficult questions that need to be answered about the way the police handled Henry’s murder”.

The UK’s Independent Office for Police Conduct watchdog is investigating.

An inquest into whether police contributed to Nowak’s death will open in front of a jury in September 2027, officials announced Thursday.

Black people in England and Wales are more than twice as likely to be arrested as white people, according to government statistics.

And an independent report last year found Britain’s largest police force, London’s Metropolitan Police, was “institutionally racist”.

Sheriff Nominee Avoids Murder Charges After Killing Daughter’s Alleged Abuser: Legal Decision Sparks Debate

0

An Arkansas man, who secured the GOP nomination for sheriff while awaiting a trial for allegedly killing his daughter’s alleged assailant, has had his murder charge dropped by a judge.

On Thursday, Special Circuit Court Judge Ralph Wilson Jr. decided to dismiss the case against Aaron Spencer. This decision came just weeks ahead of the anticipated start of his trial for second-degree murder. The dismissal was due to the loss of a crucial dash camera memory card by law enforcement, which might have recorded the incident.

Earlier in March, Spencer emerged victorious in the GOP primary, defeating a sheriff who had held the position for three terms and whose office was responsible for Spencer’s arrest in Lonoke County, home to approximately 76,000 people.

Judge Wilson emphasized that the law enforcement’s actions were so inappropriate that they justified dismissing the case. “The conduct by law enforcement was so egregious that dismissal of this case is warranted,” he stated.

Spencer’s legal team acknowledged that Spencer shot and killed 67-year-old Michael Fosler in 2024. At the time of the incident, Fosler was out on bond after facing numerous charges of sexual offenses against Spencer’s daughter, who was 13 years old at the time.

Spencer’s attorneys did not deny that he shot and killed Michael Fosler, 67, in 2024. At the time, Fosler was out on bond after being charged with dozens of sexual offenses against Spencer’s then-13-year-old daughter.

Court documents show that on the night of the shooting, Spencer had woken up to find his daughter missing, and later found the girl in the passenger seat of a vehicle Fosler was driving. Spencer forced Fosler’s truck off the road and, after an altercation, called 911 to report he had shot the man.

Prosecutors said Spencer planned the killing and that he could have called police while pursuing Fosler. But Spencer pleaded not guilty and maintained he acted to protect his child from a predator.

Spencer said in a statement Thursday that the support from the community “carried our family.”

“Neighbors here in Lonoke County, people from every part of Arkansas, and folks I’ve never met from around the world reached out, prayed for us, and refused to stay quiet,” Spencer said. “When I couldn’t speak for myself, you spoke for me. I’ll never be able to thank you the way you deserve, but I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to live up to it.”

Spencer’s attorney, Erin Cassinelli, said she is thankful for the court’s decision.

“No member of this family should ever again be forced to walk into a courtroom and relive this horror,” she said in a statement. “This father should have never been charged for protecting his child.”

Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney Chuck Graham did not immediately return messages Thursday seeking comment on the decision.

Spencer’s attorneys filed the motion seeking to have the case dismissed, contending that video and audio of the dash camera from Fosler’s truck may have contained evidence that would have cleared Spencer of any wrongdoing. According to court records, a detective with the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office removed the dash camera from the truck when responding to the scene of the shooting.

But the camera’s internal settings were not preserved, and the battery of the camera was allowed to drain, and as a result, the camera went back to its default settings. When the camera was sent to the attorney general’s office for a forensic exam, the memory card that was in it when it was collected from the truck was missing. The detective who collected the camera later admitted that it was not logged into evidence right away, but was instead stored in his personal office rather than the evidence room, according to court records.

Wilson replaced the original judge handling the murder case in January after the Arkansas Supreme Court removed Judge Barbara Elmore from the case, finding she had issued an overly broad gag order that violated Spencer’s First Amendment rights.

Tragic Florida Incident: Father Commits Murder-Suicide Involving Daughters and Realtor – Official Report

0

A tragic scene unfolded in Florida where a father carried out terrible deeds, fatally stabbing his ex-wife, a real estate agent, and their two young daughters before taking his own life.

Ryan Charles Whiten, aged 42, was identified as the perpetrator who killed his estranged ex-wife, Melanie Hyer, along with their children, Savannah, 11, and Sienna, 8. The bodies were discovered inside Hyer’s residence within a gated community in Doral, Florida, as confirmed by detectives from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

“Investigations have determined that Mr. Whiten was responsible for these horrific acts before ending his own life,” officials stated.

The authorities have yet to disclose how long the victims had been deceased in the home or any potential reasons behind the tragic incident, as the investigation remains active.

The grim discovery came to light when police conducted a welfare check at the home on Tuesday night, finding all four family members dead from stab wounds.

Hyer and Whiten had separated years earlier and were co-parenting their daughters at the time of their deaths.

Both had been married to other people since they split. Hyer had only finalized her divorce in March, court records obtained by NBC6 show.

Whiten’s ex-wife described the relationship between Whiten and Hyer as “toxic” for years due to a bitter, drawn-out battle over their daughters despite their co-parenting efforts.

Whiten’s ex-wife — who divorced him in 2024 and asked not to be identified — told 7 News Miami that her ex-husband feared Hyer would one day take his daughters away from him, but was “shocked” to hear about the murders.

“He was always so sweet with his girls and loved them deeply. I don’t know what happened,” his ex-wife said.

Hyer, 46, originally from Manhasset, NY, worked as a probate real estate agent in South Florida, specializing in luxury waterfront and commercial properties, and appeared as an industry expert on multiple news outlets throughout her career, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Doral Mayor Christi Fraga remembered Melanie Hyer as “a light of sunshine” who was “always eager to help at school and to be involved as a mom.”

“When I got the news, it definitely hit close to home,” Fraga wrote in a post on Instagram.

Both girls were students at Downtown Doral Elementary and were members of the Doral Field Hockey team.

“They were an important part of our community and will be remembered for their kindness, friendship, and the positive impact they had on everyone around them,” the field hockey team posted on Instagram Wednesday. “We will miss them dearly, may they rest in peace.”

A Catholic mass in remembrance of Hyer and her two daughters is being held Friday night, with organizers asking the public to pray for “comfort and strength for their family and loved ones.”
