MEMORISE: If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. – 2 Timothy 2:21 (KJV)

READ: Matthew 13:8-9, 23 (KJV)

Matthew 13:8-9
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 13:23
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 39-42

Open Heaven 5 June 2026 MESSAGE

The final soil type that Jesus described in His parable about the sower is what He called ‘Good ground’. The people whose hearts can be compared to good ground are those who hear God’s word, receive it, and act on it. This category of believers are fruitful to varying degrees.

In today’s Bible reading, we see that not all the seeds in the good ground produced equal harvest. Some produced 30-fold, others 60-fold, while the rest produced 100-fold. I believe that the degree to which a fellow is separated from things that can hinder God’s word from growing in him or her is the same degree to which the word will bear fruit in his or her life.

Today’s memory verse tells us that when a man purges himself from sin, he will become a purified, prepared, and useful vessel for the Master. Such a fellow will become a sanctified ground, bringing forth much more fruit. Beloved, are you a sanctified ground? Have you separated yourself from sins and lusts that harden your ground and make you unfruitful? 2 Timothy 2:22 urges you to flee youthful lust. This is because lust of any kind hinders fruitfulness.

When a fellow is in Christ, he or she will indeed be fruitful. With Jesus’ words in John 15:1-5, however, He paints a picture of how Christians can move from producing a 30-fold harvest to a 60-fold harvest, and ultimately, a 100-fold harvest. When you are simply a branch in God’s vine, you will produce a 30-fold harvest. When you take it a step further and allow God to purge and prune you, you will bear more fruit – a 60-fold harvest. Now, when you take the next step to abide in God and allow His word to abide in you richly, you will bear much fruit – a 100-fold harvest. The more intimate you become with Jesus, the more fruit you will bear, and God is most glorified when you bear much fruit (John 15:8).

Beloved, you cannot become intimate with Jesus if you keep allowing sin in your life. If you are still living in sin, repent today and ask Him for a brand-new heart. Make up your mind to surrender completely to Jesus, because only those who allow God to have complete control of their hearts will be able to produce a 100-fold harvest. May your heart be a fertile ground for God’s word to yield a 100-fold harvest in your life, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 5 June 2026 HYMN 9 – What Can Wash Away My Stain

1 What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Chorus:
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount l know;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

2 For my pardon this I see:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my cleansing this my plea:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

3 Nothing can for sin atone:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Naught of good that I have done:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

4 This is all my hope and peace:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my righteousness:
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Former BBC Star Expresses Uncertainty About Future Living Arrangements Following Departure

Wynne Evans has revealed his departure from his BBC Radio Wales program after the network chose not to extend his contract last year. This decision followed the opera singer’s removal from the Strictly Come Dancing live tour due to a comment deemed “inappropriate and unacceptable” during the December launch. The BBC has confirmed that there are “currently no plans to work with him” moving forward.

At 54, Evans has shared insights into his upcoming plans, mentioning a significant life change. The Go Compare singer disclosed that he intends to vacate his primary residence over the next half-year. The former radio host has expressed his desire to explore new horizons alongside his cherished dog, Ginny.

In a heartfelt Instagram Story video, the former Strictly participant admitted, “I don’t know where I’m going to be living.”

Evans elaborated, “I’ve decided to rent out my house for six months. I felt like doing something different. Just wanted a change. So, Ginny and I,” he said while showing his dog, “are hitting the open road.”

“We have a few things planned—some holidays we’ve already booked, so we’ll be heading to those destinations.”

He continued: “But yeah… come with us. I don’t know where we’re going to end up living. Going to stay in Cardiff for a bit.

“I know in the next six months I’ve got a new job starting. In fact, I’ve got two new jobs. It’s going to be a crazy, crazy time. Probably not the wisest time to move out of your house but let’s do it.”

Wynne is best known as the face, and voice, behind the Go Compare adverts, and also has had two number one classical music albums.

As well as BBC Radio Wales, he has previously presented on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM, while also winning Celebrity Masterchef.

Evelyn Lozada and Carl Crawford Celebrate Milestone: Son Carl Jr. Graduates Sixth Grade

This week, Evelyn Lozada and Carl Crawford cherished a special moment as parents.

The former partners reunited on Wednesday to cheer on their son, Carl Crawford Jr., who took part in his school’s Candle Lighting Ceremony. This significant event marks the transition for sixth graders as they move from Lower School to Middle School.

Traditionally held at the close of the academic year, the ceremony invites students to introspect on their journey by crafting and presenting personal “I Am” poems.

Lozada later posted a heartfelt video on Instagram, capturing Carl Jr. alongside his mother, father, and older sister Shaniece Hairston. The video also featured the young graduate confidently taking the stage to recite a portion of his self-authored poem.

In her post’s caption, Evelyn Lozada expressed pride in her son’s achievements and penned a touching message for him.

“Candle Lighting Ceremony marked the end of lower campus and the beginning of a new chapter,” she wrote.

“@therealcarlleocrawford we are so proud of your dedication to both sports and school, but even more proud of the person you are. The greatest compliment we receive is hearing what a kind friend and great kid you are.”

She continued, “Never lose your big personality, your unfiltered self, and the spark that makes you uniquely you. We can’t wait to see what upper campus has in store for you.”

“Dream big, work hard, and know Mom & Dad love you so much.”

During his speech, Carl Jr. reflected on some of the experiences that have shaped him so far and the goals he hopes to accomplish in the future.

“I am from watching my brother play in his first MLB game in Philadelphia with all my friends and family, feeling nervous and excited at the same time, to now riding my electric dirt bike every chance I get, to one day attending the upper campus, having new freedom and the opportunity to play for the Sierra Canyon baseball team,” he said.

He concluded the poem by saying, “I am Carl Leo Crawford.”

Golden Knights’ Brayden McNabb Hospitalized During Intense Stanley Cup Game 2

0

During Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, a tense moment unfolded as Golden Knights defenseman Brayden McNabb was forced to exit the game on Thursday.

The incident occurred midway through the opening period of Vegas’ 4-3 defeat when McNabb was struck in the face by an 87 mph slap shot from Hurricanes forward Nikolaj Ehlers.

Immediately following the impact, the game came to a halt as players from both sides signaled the referees, urgently drawing attention to McNabb’s injury.

The 35-year-old defenseman quickly made his way to the locker room, covering his mouth and nose with his hand, and was subsequently taken to the hospital, according to an ESPN report.

In McNabb’s absence, Jeremy Lauzon stepped up to join Shea Theodore on the top defensive pairing for Las Vegas.

McNabb proved to be a difference maker during Game 1, having his first career three-assist effort to help the Golden Knights beat Carolina 5-4 on Tuesday.

He has 33 blocked shots in the playoffs after leading the Golden Knights with 142 blocks in 63 games during the regular season.

The veteran defenseman also ranks first in Golden Knights history in blocked shots (1,417) and hits (1,469).

With Las Vegas now just three wins away from a Stanley Cup, head coach John Tortorella said his team’s willingness to stick together was its greatest strength during the playoff run.

“I think that’s the biggest attribute I’ve seen with this team in the short time I’ve been with them is they stay together,” Tortorella said. “They don’t break apart and I think that gets you through some situations. We’re playing against a very good team.

“We’re going to have things happen to us tomorrow. But we’re going to have to stick together to try and find a way.”

Unsealed Autopsy Reports Reveal Intense Pain and Suffering Endured by Bryan Kohberger’s Victims

The Ada County court has released the autopsy reports for the University of Idaho students who tragically lost their lives. This development follows the case’s transfer after Bryan Kohberger, the accused, successfully petitioned for a change of venue.

Dr. Veena Singh, the chief medical examiner from Spokane, carried out the autopsies. Prosecutors had intended for her to testify during the trial’s penalty phase, a plan that was altered when Kohberger opted to plead guilty.

The victims, University of Idaho students Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle, were featured in a heartfelt final photo shared by Goncalves on Instagram, alongside two other housemates. This image captured a moment before the four students met their untimely deaths in a stabbing incident in November 2022.

While the autopsy reports omit photographs, they do detail the victims’ severe injuries, some of which have been previously disclosed to the public.

Dr. Singh found that all of the victims suffered wounds “consistent” with a “Ka-Bar Full Size US Marine Corps Fighting Knife” — the suspected murder weapon. Some injuries may have been caused by different parts of the weapon, she found.

All four were killed by multiple sharp-force injuries and “endured a high degree of pain and/or suffering” in the attack, which took place as three of the four were sleeping around 4 a.m. on Nov. 13, 2022.

She noted that Kaylee Goncalves, 21, had also suffered blunt-force injuries to her face and that an “unidentified object” appeared to have been used to cover her mouth. She also showed signs of asphyxia.

The victims were Goncalves, her 21-year-old best friend, Madison Mogen, 20-year-old Xana Kernodle and 20-year-old Ethan Chapin.

Kernodle was the only one not in bed when Kohberger attacked — suffering defensive wounds on her hands and arms.

Police found a leather Ka-Bar sheath in the bed with Goncalves and Mogen that prosecutors later said had Kohberger’s DNA on it.

Investigators used investigative genetic genealogy to come up with leads about the suspect, and discovered a potential match in Kohberger, who had been attending classes 10 miles from the crime scene. He was arrested at his parents’ house in Pennsylvania on Dec. 30, 2022.

The reports were included in a batch of newly unsealed court filings as the court continues to make more information in the case available to the public.

Kohberger, who was studying for a Ph.D. in criminology at the neighboring Washington State University, pleaded guilty last year to avoid death by the firing squad.

He is serving four consecutive life sentences plus another 10 years.

His early weeks in prison were marked with complaints about the food and mistreatment by fellow inmates.

Rhapsody Of Realities 5 June 2026: A Defeated Kingdom

Rhapsody Of Realities 5 June 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): A Defeated Kingdom

TOPIC: A Defeated Kingdom (Rhapsody of Realities 5 June 2026)

No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house (Mark 3:27).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

When the Lord Jesus addressed the accusation that He cast out demons by the power of Beelzebub, He revealed profound truths about the kingdom of darkness. First, He made it clear that Satan has a kingdom with a structure. Satan’s kingdom operates with coordination and hierarchy. We referenced this in our previous study.

However, the Master went further and revealed another crucial truth. In Mark 3:27, He spoke about entering a strong man’s house and spoiling his goods. The “strong man” in this context refers to Satan. The Lord Jesus explained that no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his possessions unless the strong man is first “bound.”

With this statement, the Lord revealed His authority over Satan—the same authority which He passed on to us—His Church. He said in Matthew 10:8, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Then, in Mark 16:17, He said, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils….”

Jesus, casting out demons was proof that He had authority over the kingdom of darkness. While Satan operates with a structured system of demonic forces, he is nevertheless a defeated foe. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Satan and the forces of darkness were decisively defeated.

Colossians 2:15 NKJV tells us that Jesus Christ disarmed principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them. Yet, even though Satan has been defeated, he still attempts to operate with the same strategies he’s used throughout history. He has lost his authority, but he continues to function through deception, intimidation and manipulation.

This is why you must walk in the light of God’s Word and remain conscious of your victory in Christ and the dominion you have in His Name. Your authority over Satan is rooted in the triumph of Christ. You’re not fighting to obtain victory; you’re standing in the victory that has already been won. Live in the consciousness of this truth. You’re in dominion over Satan and his cohorts of darkness.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for my victory over Satan and the forces of darkness. I live in the consciousness of Christ’s triumph and exercise my authority in His Name. Every work of the adversary is subdued, and I walk in the dominion and freedom that I have in Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Colossians 2:15 (KJV)
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

1 John 3:8 (KJV)
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Melody Shari’s Cryptic Reveal: Battling for Peace Post-‘Love & Marriage: Huntsville

Melody Shari is currently navigating a challenging period in her life.

On Wednesday, the former participant of Love & Marriage: Huntsville took to Instagram to reveal a series of posts hinting at significant turmoil in her private affairs.

Melody Shari is ‘fighting’ for her life

In an enigmatic post on her Instagram Story, Melody expressed, “The last few days I have genuinely been fighting for my LIFE!”

She went on to say, “Lies won’t prevail … but still … REALLY?!? To fabricate something? Wow,” accompanied by a string of praying hands emojis.

Melody further elaborated in a subsequent slide, referencing her decision to leave Love & Marriage: Huntsville, “I literally walked away from that show. I was exhausted by the tolerated abuse … the shielding and protection. The endless shouting, screaming, blatant falsehoods, profanity towards women, etc., etc., on national television.”

“I literally walked away from that show,” she said in the next slide, referring to Love & Marriage: Huntsville. “Was tired of the allowed abuse … the protection and covering. The constant yelling, screaming, blatant lies, cursing women out, etc. etc. on national television.”

Unfortunately, despite exiting the OWN reality series last year, Melody says she still has “no peace.”

“STILL want to see me down and out that BAD?! Still want me to be looked at as ‘on your level’ THAT bad?!” she wrote. Melody didn’t name names, but she appeared to be referring to her ex-husband, Martell Holt.

Melody starred in ‘Love & Marriage: Huntsville’ with her ex, Martell Holt

When Love & Marriage: Huntsville began, Melody and Martell appeared to have a picture-perfect marriage. But cracks soon emerged, and it became clear the relationship was deeply dysfunctional. Martell eventually confessed to cheating on Melody; later she accused him of threatening to release “revenge porn” of her and called him “emotionally abusive.” He also had a baby with his longtime affair partner, Arionne Curry. (After he and Melody split, Martell also dated Shereé Whitfield from The Real Housewives of Atlanta.)

“Decision have to be made,” Melody wrote. “Hard conversations to have. Therapist on speed dial.”

In January 2025, Melody announced she was walking away from LAMH.

“To protect my own emotional health, my own mental health, I don’t allow myself to engage or be a part of a trauma that I’m still healing from,”  she told EBONY, adding that she could no longer watch the show because it was “triggering.”

Despite her efforts to distance herself from Love & Marriage: Huntsville, it sounds like Melody is getting pulled back into difficult situations.

“I barely slept last night. I literally can feel my nervous system … It’s as if I’m just shaking and can’t stop,” she wrote, adding that whatever was going on was negatively affecting her children as well. (She and Martell share three daughters and a son.)

Melody hinted that she might need to take drastic steps to protect herself.

“Telling my kids I may have to leave. But find me when you’re of age. I’ll be here,” she wrote. “One of the hardest convos of my LIFE. They don’t understand. But they do. Because they witnessed it all … seeing the pain and hurt in their eyes, I don’t know what they’re going to do.”

Florida Zoo from ‘Tiger King’ Under Scrutiny After Capybara Death and Leopard Leg Amputation Sparks Controversy

A wildlife attraction in Florida, run by Mario Tabraue—a former drug trafficker featured in the Netflix series Tiger King—is currently under scrutiny for multiple violations of the Animal Welfare Act.

A recent inspection report from the USDA, highlighted by PETA, details a routine inspection conducted on March 31 at the Zoological Wildlife Foundation in Miami.

The inspection resulted in 10 citations, one of which was deemed “critical.” This critical citation pointed out the facility’s failure to ensure that animals housed together or in proximity were compatible.

Inspectors noted a specific incident on January 1, where a female capybara was found dead in her enclosure. She had been living with a male capybara for about six weeks before the discovery.

According to the report, Tabraue expressed that he was “100% certain” the male capybara killed the female during a mating attempt.

Nearly three weeks later at the same facility, a female clouded leopard was injured by a male clouded leopard, resulting in “the amputation of [the female’s] entire left leg,” per USDA inspectors.

“The clouded leopards did not live together but had been put together for the purpose of breeding,” the report read, noting that the clouded leopards were in separate closures connected by a guillotine door with a “gap at the bottom.”

According to the report, Tabraue told inspectors he believed the female reached her paw through the gap in the door and into the male’s enclosure, after which he attacked her paw.

USDA evaluators also noted enclosures with excessive rust and “jagged edges,” “dead flies and gnats” in a freezer storing food, water and food receptacles that were not kept clean, and a damaged marabou stork shelter, among other citations.

According to the Miami New Times, Tabraue disputed the findings of the inspection, telling the outlet ZWF was “never cited by the USDA” and criticizing PETA’s complaints and characterization of the USDA’s findings. (According to PETA, the inspection was triggered by their complaint to the USDA against ZWF regarding the clouded leopard injury, which occurred during what they described as a “forced breeding attempt.”)

“The clouded leopard was wounded by the male and unfortunately we had to amputate the leg,” Tabraue told the Miami New Times, adding that veterinary staff arrived “within thirty minutes to take her to the hospital,” where she recovered for two weeks. “[She is now] living in an outdoor enclosure by herself off site from the public and thriving very well.”

Tabraue also acknowledged the capybara death, saying the male “suffocated her while trying to breed her.” He characterized both that incident and the clouded leopard leg amputation as things that happen in nature and that are “beyond our control,” according to the outlet.

has reached out to the Zoological Wildlife Foundation for comment, but did not receive an immediate reply.

The USDA inspection comes more than six years after Tabraue first gained worldwide attention for appearing in Netflix’s hit true crime docuseries, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness.

Viewers learned that the zoo owner was previously a drug kingpin, with Tabraue saying in Tiger King that he trafficked drugs in order to fund his desire to own exotic animals.

He was convicted on 61 counts of racketeering and sentenced to 100 years in prison, but ultimately only served 12 years of his sentence after cooperating with federal authorities, the Miami Herald reported.

“I got out late 1999,” Tabraue told Oxygen in a 2020 interview, “and aside from a traffic ticket I have never clashed with the law again.”

“My drug involvement never had anything to do with my animals and the passion [I] have for them,” he added. “It’s accurate that I said that I sold drugs to keep the animals in the best possible conditions. [But] I have never had any wildlife abuse allegations. Even less charges.”

Shocking Arrest: 14-Year-Old Charged in Tragic Shooting of 23-Year-Old Business Student

0

A 14-year-old has been taken into custody in connection with a random shooting that tragically claimed the life of a promising business student in an Indiana parking garage.

The victim, Brett Scrogham, 23, succumbed to his injuries two days after being shot in a parking garage at around 6 PM last week. The incident occurred just moments before he was set to meet his parents at a baseball game, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

Authorities announced on Wednesday that the young suspect was apprehended on the city’s west side in relation to the fatal shooting. However, the identity of the juvenile has not been disclosed.

‘I’m frustrated and disheartened to tell you that the person we believe is responsible for this is a 14-year-old child,’ IMPD Chief Tanya Terry tearfully said during a press conference on Thursday, according to WISH-TV News.

“Consider this: 14 years old and arrested for murder,” a police spokesperson remarked. “One young man’s life was tragically cut short, and another will have to live with the consequences of his actions for the rest of his life.”

The spokesperson also addressed the concerning rise in youth violence within the city, highlighting that four teenagers have recently been arrested for murder, while several others face charges for violent crimes, many of which involve firearms.

‘What happened downtown last week was an absolutely tragic incident,’ she said.

‘My heart goes out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Brett Scrogham, who was killed.’

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office now has the authority to make final charging decisions involving the minor, including whether he will be tried as an adult or whether his parents should be held responsible, according to police.

During the press conference, Terry said she ‘100 percent agrees’ with holding parents accountable in criminal court, stressing that ‘parenting is not passive’ and that ‘active involvement matters.’

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett thanked the police department for its swift work.

‘While there are still more steps in the judicial process to fully hold this individual accountable, I hope this arrest gives Brett Scrogham’s family and all those who loved him some measure of comfort during this most difficult time,’ he said.

Aaron Green, whose father was murdered by a 17-year-old, told WRTV News, ‘I don’t think any kid wakes up and is born a killer.’

He started Struggle University, an organization that helps troubled youth deal with trauma and recognize early signs of distress through community activities.

‘I think it’s a cumulation of things that have happened over time’ he told the outlet.

‘And if kids don’t feel safe where they feel like they need to have guns, that’s an adult problem. That’s not a kid problem.’

Green believes in rehabilitation and encourages adults to create safe spaces that allow teens to open up and communicate rather than turn to firearms.

On Thursday, Terry echoed a similar sentiment, urging parents to ‘be nosy’ and proactive with their children and, if needed, reach out to organizations that can help.

‘This level of youth violence is not unique to Indianapolis. Other cities throughout our country are also seeing similar patterns,’ the chief said.

‘We cannot accept violence involving our children as something that’s normal,’ she added.

Under Indiana law, adult criminal courts have automatic jurisdiction over minors aged 16 and older who are charged with certain offenses, including murder.

Scrogham, a recent graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, was on his way to attend a baseball game with his family on May 28 at Victory Field when he was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking garage.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Scrogham’s good friend and fellow classmate James Wilson said he was a proud, successful student.

‘With him being top 100, him getting that was very impressive, and he was very happy to get that,’ Wilson told Fox 59 News.

‘He potentially saw himself investing in his own low-income housing and rental properties and maybe building some apartments or something like that.’

Robyn Collier told the outlet that Scrogham rescued her dogs during a house fire.

Scrogham’s death has also fueled debate over violence in downtown Indianapolis, including comments from Republican lawmakers.

On X, former mayoral candidate Rep. Jefferson Shreve wrote: ‘Families should be able to park downtown, walk to a ballgame, and come home safely. Public safety has to be the first responsibility of city leadership.’

The latest tragedy comes as violence, crime and ‘anarchy’ have continued to plague the Midwest city in recent years, Indy Star columnist Jeffrey Tompkins wrote in the wake of Scrogham’s death.

Tompkins, an urban planner and local to downtown Indianapolis, said the surge in deadly chaos has gotten so out of control that the community now has two options to choose from: anarchy or urbanism.

‘We do have to pick one. The cities Americans romanticize, from Tokyo to Paris to New York at its best, are not safe because their residents are gentler people,’ Tompkins wrote. ‘Far from it. They are safe because crime is not the expectation.’

He went on to mention other recent crimes that left innocent people dead, injured, or just flat out terrified, including when career criminal Demarcus McCloud, 46, set an IndyGo Red Line bus on fire on April 24, 2024.

Thankfully, no one was killed after a fast-thinking bus driver pulled over the bus and evacuated everyone onboard safely.

McCloud was booked into the county jail more than 46 times before he launched chaos on the city.

In July 2025, he was sentenced to eight years in federal prison after pleading guilty to two counts of malicious damage to property receiving federal funds and one count of malicious damage to federal property, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

In a hopeful development, a La Porte County sheriff’s deputy wounded in a shooting is making progress in his recovery. On Thursday, Deputy Jon Samuelson was transferred to Chicago to commence rehabilitation, as confirmed by ABC7. First responders from Portage, Indiana, paid tribute by lining part of his route.

The incident occurred last month at a hospital in Michigan City, Indiana, where Deputy Samuelson was shot.

The accused shooter, Sherod Grafton from Chicago, has been charged in connection with the incident. He entered a plea of not guilty during his court appearance.

Last week, Grafton made a virtual appearance in court, where a judge set his bond at $100,000.

Grafton appeared virtually in court last week. A judge set bond for Grafton at $100,000.

Prosecutors also read out the charges that Grafton is now facing. They include attempted murder, use of a firearm to inflict serious bodily harm, auto theft and battery to a public safety officer.

Friday was Grafton’s first time appearing in court since the shooting that left Deputy Samuelson with severe injuries in the Michigan City hospital.

Friday’s hearing also came after Grafton’s first appearance was postponed because the previous judge recused themself saying their impartiality might be reasonably questioned.

Investigators said La Porte County Sheriff’s Deputy Samuelson was trying to be a good Samaritan when he stopped to help out Grafton, who was believed to be a stranded driver at the time.

Police accuse Grafton of pulling out a gun later at the hospital and shooting Deputy Samuelson three times.

A court filing said the gun jammed when Grafton stood over him and tried to shoot him again.

One of the bullets that hit Deputy Samuelson lodged in his spine, according to the filing. He may be paralyzed from the chest down.

Grafton is due back in court on June 12.
