Unveiled: The Explosive Trump-Netanyahu Call That Shook International Relations

0

In a recent phone call, former President Donald Trump allegedly described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “f***ing crazy” just before announcing a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

Trump took to his platform, Truth Social, to reveal that Netanyahu had decided to “turn his troops around” instead of launching a significant military operation in Lebanon on Monday.

He further stated that both the Israeli military and Hezbollah-affiliated militia groups had agreed to cease hostilities.

While optimistic, Trump expressed a cautious hopefulness, saying, “Let’s see how long that lasts — Hopefully it will be for ETERNITY!”

The announcement followed what was reportedly a tense conversation between Trump and Netanyahu concerning the rising tensions between Tel Aviv and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

A source told Axios that at one point, Trump bluntly asked Netanyahu: ‘What the f*** are you doing?’

Trump eventually went off on the prime minister, directly stating that Netanyahu would be jailed without him.

‘You’re f***ing crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this,’ he reportedly said.

Two sources told the outlet that Trump accused Netanyahu of being ungrateful to him and that making good on threats to bomb Beirut would make things worse for Israel.

The sources hinted that Trump’s rage was driven by a belief that Israel’s actions were making it harder to forge a peace deal with Iran.

Netanyahu later appeared to cast doubt on Trump’s claim of a ceasefire, saying that his country would strike Beirut if Hezbollah doesn’t stop attacking Israel.

‘I spoke this evening with President Trump and told him that if Hezbollah does not cease attacking our towns and our citizens, Israel will strike terrorist targets in Beirut,’ Netanyahu said, according to a statement released by his office.

The Daily Mail has reached out to both the White House and Prime Minister Netanyahu for further comment.

Iran’s top negotiators on Monday stopped exchanging messages with the US through Pakistani intermediaries as Tehran vowed to fully shut down the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Iranian state-affiliated news outlet Tasnim.

The report claims Iran cut off communication because it believes one of the preconditions for the ceasefire was a halt to the IDF’s continued attacks on its Hezbollah allies in Lebanon.

The regime says ‘No dialogue will take place’ until Israel fully withdraws from Lebanon and also stops attacks in Gaza, according to Tasnim.

‘Also, the resistance front and Iran have resolved to completely block the Strait of Hormuz and activate other fronts including the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, in order to punish the Zionists and their supporters,’ a regime official told state media.

The Trump administration has spent recent weeks trying to quell the fighting by brokering a temporary ceasefire between Netanyahu’s government and Lebanon, but those efforts have not succeeded.

Earlier on Monday, the US leader had given decidedly mixed signals about his enthusiasm for the talks to end the Iran war, which the United States and Israel launched on February 28.

Trump told US broadcaster CNBC in a telephone interview shortly before his Truth Social posts that ‘I don’t care’ if the Iran talks collapsed.

‘Frankly, I thought they started to get very boring,’ Trump told CNBC.

Trump separately told NBC News on Monday that he had not been informed that Iran was suspending negotiations but that, ‘I think we’ve been talking too much if you want to know the truth.’

‘I think going silent would be very good, and that could be that could be for a long time,’ he told NBC.

Trump later claimed that ‘talks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran.’

Israel remains hesitant to include Lebanon in the ongoing ceasefire with Tehran, viewing that conflict as separate from the broader war.

The US has tried to mediate between Israel and Lebanon over the past few weeks, pushing for a temporary ceasefire while Trump negotiates a long-term peace agreement with Tehran.

Israeli forces over the weekend captured a strategic site in Lebanon, marking their deepest military incursion into the country in over 26 years.

Israel captured Beaufort Castle, a medieval fortress in southern Lebanon that it had held until its withdrawal from the country in 2000.

The United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran on February 28.

Ex-North Carolina Officer Surrenders After Shocking Arrest Video Sparks Outrage

0

A former police officer from North Carolina, dismissed over the weekend, surrendered to authorities on Monday to confront charges related to an excessive force investigation. This follows the emergence of video evidence depicting him repeatedly striking a woman during an arrest, according to officials.

Footage captured by a doorbell camera on Friday allegedly shows the officer, identified as Hyder, delivering multiple punches to 34-year-old Cherrie Moore’s face while attempting to subdue her. The video also reveals a second officer stepping in at one point. The events leading up to the start of the recording remain unclear.

Shelby Police Chief Brad Fraser explained in a video statement on Friday that the officers were engaged in a criminal investigation when they encountered a woman behaving suspiciously in the vicinity. According to Moore’s arrest warrant, she is accused of fleeing when Hyder attempted to detain her for suspected breaking or entering.

The video footage eventually shows Moore being handcuffed, during which she is heard requesting the officers to contact her father and discussing her own mental health, mentioning that she was not on her medication.

The incident prompted immediate protests within the community, leading to Hyder’s termination the following day. Additionally, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has launched a probe into the alleged assault.

“The actions taken by one of our officers during that encounter are disturbing and inappropriate,” Fraser said Friday.

Moore was initially facing charges of breaking or entering, resisting a public officer and assault of a government official or employee, but the latter two charges have since been dismissed. She is due in court on Friday.

Ronald Haynes, her attorney, wrote in an email to The AP that Moore “is recovering and receiving treatment for her mental health.”

Moore’s father, Gregory Moore, said the officer used excessive force and that his daughter suffered several injuries to her face. The arrest warrant for Hyder states Cherrie Moore suffered a “possible broken nose and busted lip.”

“He took his anger out on my daughter. My innocent daughter,” Gregory Moore said.

Gregory Moore said Cherrie Moore has bipolar schizophrenia and is under treatment while out on bond.

Court records show Cherrie Moore and Hyder had interacted before Friday’s incident, with Moore being arrested by Hyder and charged with breaking or entering and resisting a public officer in August 2025. She pleaded guilty to resisting and was sentenced to time served after spending 15 days in custody. The charge for breaking or entering was dismissed.

“It’s going to be a long journey for her because she’s really, really upset. Shaken,” Gregory Moore said.

Tick Surge Alert: Essential Tips for Homeowners to Safeguard Yards in High-Risk States

0

As the warm weather rolls in, homeowners across regions like the Northeast, Upper Midwest, Middle Atlantic, Ohio River Valley, and even parts of the South should brace themselves for a particularly active tick season.

These tiny pests are more than just an annoyance; they are increasingly sending people to the emergency room. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Bite Tracker reveals a startling rise, with 71 out of every 100,000 emergency room visits in April 2026 being tick-related. This figure is more than twice the historical norm.

While factors like weather conditions, human activity, and wildlife patterns contribute to the uptick in tick populations and associated health risks, there are measures homeowners can take to safeguard their families and pets.

Hamilton Allen, an entomologist and vice president of technical and safety at Fox Pest Control in Tampa, FL, advises, “To create an effective tick-free zone, consider using year-round tick-preventative medications, clearing leaf litter around your property, laying down wood chips and mulch near the boundary between your yard and the forest, and keeping your lawn mowed.”

Why these locations are seeing an uptick

The MyWild 2026 Tick Forecast indicates that tick populations are booming in states such as Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, along with Kentucky and Tennessee. This expansion underscores how ticks are migrating beyond their traditional strongholds in the Northeast and Upper Midwest to make their presence felt in the Southern regions as well.

The main culprit? The weather conditions this past winter.

Theresa Smith, senior vice president of NaturaLawn of America in Frederick, MD, explains that in areas that were a bit colder than usual, snow that took months to melt helped insulate ticks from the extremely cold air.

“Snow keeps the temperature of the ground beneath it more stable, so even while air temperatures continue to drop, the ground underneath it stays warmer. Since much of the Northeast and mid-Atlantic experienced that long-lasting snowpack or ‘snowcrete’ coverage, this effect was especially pronounced,” Smith explains.

In the South, where the winter months brought above-average temperatures, more ticks were able to survive and reproduce.

“The warmth gave ticks the ideal conditions for breeding,” Smith explains.

The warmer winter weather also allowed ticks to expand their habitats, meaning areas where ticks have not historically been an issue will begin seeing more of these disease-carrying pests.

Nicole Carpenter, pest control professional and president at Black Pest Prevention in Charlotte, NC, points out that the ticks don’t need to travel far to grow.

“The increase in tick populations is also about people spending more time and building homes in places where ticks are already active. Wildlife like deer and other animals that move through neighborhoods more often now can bring new ticks,” Carpenter explains.

How to mitigate ticks around your home

Ticks are harmful to humans and animals alike.

“Deer ticks can transmit Lyme disease by climbing on a blade of grass and waiting for an animal or human to brush by. Other ticks, like the lone star ticks, can transmit ehrlichiosis and other serious infections,” says Dr. Linden Hu, infectious disease specialist and professor of immunology at Tufts University in Boston.

They can lead to fever, rashes, fatigue, and other flu-like systems that often warrant a trip to an emergency room. The good news is you can reduce their presence to keep your family and pets safe. Here are several expert tips:

Maintain your yard

Ticks love poorly maintained yards.

“Tall grass, poorly ventilated yards, and yards with a lot of shaded spots are most attractive to ticks,” says Carpenter.

If you want to keep them away, keep your yard in optimal shape. Mow your lawn, and trim trees and shrubs that may create a lot of shade.

Choose the right ground cover

Avoid mulch, leaf piles, or dense ground cover.

“Choose gravel, wood chips, or stone barriers instead, because dry, open materials make it harder for ticks to stay sheltered and humid,” Carpenter explains.

Use a cedar spray

If your goal is to prevent ticks from sticking around, then a cedar oil spray can do wonders. It has a strong scent that ticks don’t like.

Carpenter recommends you spray shaded corners, yard edges, fence lines, and areas where neighboring pets or wildlife can pass through.

Plant tick-repellant plants

“Lavender, rosemary, and marigolds can be planted near where your family or pets spend the most time,” says Smith.

It’s also a good idea to plant these around the edge of your home.

Add fencing

Properties without fences are more prone to ticks because deer, rodents, or stray cats and dogs can move through the yard and bring ticks with them.

If you don’t have a fence, installing one might be worthwhile.

“Fencing solves part of the problem because it simply limits the amount of host animals that can pass through and drop ticks around the yard,” adds Carpenter.

Love Island Premiere Ignites as Fans Hail Jasmine the ‘Ekin-Su of the Series’ for Boldly Challenging Boys’ Attitudes

0

The latest season of Love Island premiered on Monday, and fans have already singled out a standout contestant among the bikini-clad hopefuls.

Jasmine made a memorable entrance by stirring the pot mere moments after stepping into the villa, delivering a scathing critique of the male contestants vying for her attention.

This 27-year-old entrepreneur, who runs a fashion business, is no stranger to the limelight, having been romantically linked to Arsenal player Héctor Bellerín back in 2021.

Unapologetically candid, Jasmine did not hold back her opinions about the new arrivals, drawing comparisons to former villa sensation Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu from some viewers.

During an introductory activity, she openly identified which of the boys she considered to be walking red flags.

She said: ‘I’m not obsessed with you three not drinking on that first question.

‘That no one here’s your type, there’s so many beautiful women here!’

Ope hit back: ‘We just don’t know yet!’ but Jasmine insisted: ‘You don’t need to know, look!’

Fans lauded Jasmine’s comments, writing on X: ‘Jasmine clocking the boys already omg I like her already;’

‘Oh Jasmine is giving me Amber + Ekin-Su vibes we have the leader of the group;’

‘Jasmine is so real because what do you mean none of these beautiful women are your type?;’

‘Obsessed with Jasmine having the whole gang gagged;’

‘Jasmine clocking them!! I just know I’m gonna love her;’

Jasmine previously told how she enjoyed a ‘healthy and lovely’ romance with Bellerin.

Speaking to Daily Mail and other publications ahead of her stint on the ITV2 dating show, Jasmine opened up on Héctor and told how the high profile relationship has prepared her for being in the public eye.

She said: ‘You know, I had a very healthy and lovely relationship with him and everything is on good terms. I have nothing bad to say about him, and he the same for me.

‘But it is so long ago that it’s not something I think about on a daily. Obviously, I know that it’s something interesting for people to talk about, but it’s not a big part of my life anymore.

‘I think it probably has prepared me in some ways. Obviously, you know, we were together for a while, we were close, but I also just I think I’ve got myself, and I have a very amazing support network. So I think that’s my main preparation, being with my family and feeling really loved and feeling really proud of myself.’

Love Island’s new series kicked off at night for the very first time, with host Maya Jama making an immediate entrance as the Islanders headed into the villa for an exclusive welcome party under the stars.

Viewers watched Aidan, Mica, Lorenzo, Samraj, Robyn, Lola, Angelista, Ope, Jasmine, Sean, Ellie and Sam start getting to know each other.

They then played an Ice Breaker round to get to know each other where they were asked who they fancied the most, who were their types and if they had seen any red flag behaviour yet.

Soon Maya said the Islanders got to choose who to couple up with themselves rather than the public voting. If multiple people were interested in the same person – they had to work it out themselves.

As they made their minds up between themselves, Mica picked Samraj, Lorenzo picked Jasmine, Aidan picked Ellie, Angelista picked Ope, Sean picked Lola and Sam was left with Robyn.

This year, the villa has also been given a multi-million-pound revamp, and is filled with designer goods and more beds than ever before, making room for more bombshells to shake things up.

Islanders will be filmed for the next eight weeks and live in very close quarters, which is sure to cause tension among the new singletons.

Unveiling the Heartbreaking Truth: Inside the Passing of Jamie Lee Curtis’ Beloved Sister, Kelly Lee Curtis

Fresh insights have surfaced concerning the passing of Kelly Lee Curtis.

Two days following the announcement by Jamie Lee Curtis that her sister Kelly had passed away at the age of 69, the Blaine County coroner’s office in Idaho has confirmed to Us Weekly that the cause was natural. Officials revealed that she had been under hospice care during the week leading up to her death on May 30.

The coroner’s office also stated that Kelly would be cremated, with her husband, John Marsh, present at the time of the coroner’s arrival.

In the aftermath of her death, Kelly was fondly remembered by her sister, Jamie, who took to Instagram to share, “A warm aloha to my older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis. She passed away this morning. In her home. In nature. At peace.”

Jamie further reflected, “She was my first friend and lifelong confidant. She was stunningly beautiful, an accomplished actress, and had a knack for playing hearts. She cherished turtles, her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go. Proud of her Danish and Hungarian Jewish heritage, she was also a devoted American patriot.”

Homebuyers Caught Off Guard: First Home Deposit Scheme Meets Unexpected House Price Decline

With investors retreating and potential buyers hesitant, the housing market is experiencing a notable decline, especially in the luxury segment. This has led to a significant drop in property values in recent weeks.

“Depending on the suburb, we might be looking at a decrease of 5 to 10 percent,” auctioneer Jason Keen shared with 9News.

This rapid decline has particularly affected first-time home buyers, who often carry substantial mortgage debt, leaving them in a precarious state of negative equity.

Louis Christopher from SQM Research commented to 9News, “I consider it almost as dire as a financial situation can get, short of declaring bankruptcy.”

“I regard it essentially as the second-worst financial position outside of bankruptcy,” Louis Christopher from SQM Research told 9News.

Across Sydney and Melbourne, 50,000 people have used the government’s 5 per cent deposit scheme.

And that’s where experts are tipping prices to drop.

“For those who’ve bought in a falling market with the maximum leverage, it just compounds the losses,” Christopher said.

This means, for a home bought for $1 million using the government’s 5 per cent deposit scheme, there’d be a $950,000 mortgage on the property.

If that home now drops in value by 6 per cent, it becomes worth $940,000, meaning you’re actually carrying negative equity of $10,000.

“Now these changes aren’t a level up for young Australians wanting to own a home,” Opposition Leader Angus Taylor said about Labor’s budget proposals for housing.

But Energy Minister Chris Bowen disagrees.

Heartbreaking Incident: Toddler’s Disappearance After Dad’s Unattended Moment in Oregon Home

0

An Oregon father is facing charges of misdemeanor child neglect after allegedly neglecting his two-year-old son, who tragically drowned last year. The incident reportedly occurred while the father was engrossed in binge-watching television, allowing the child to leave the home unnoticed.

Aaron Paulsen has been charged in connection with the death of his young son, Dane Paulsen. According to court documents accessed by KATU, the boy’s mother, Cha Met Jackson, had informed Aaron that Dane would be under his supervision when she departed their Siletz home on March 1, 2025.

Prosecutors allege that Aaron observed Dane exit the house through a sliding glass door without intervening. Instead, he later informed police that he was preoccupied with binge-watching TV at the time of the incident.

In a separate account, Cha Met Jackson reportedly told authorities that she heard her son knocking on the door of a trailer on the property. Her immediate reaction was one of alarm, realizing, “Oh no, the baby’s outside.”

Meanwhile, Cha Met allegedly told authorities she had heard her son knocking on the door of the trailer she was in on the property and thought, ‘Oh s**t, the baby’s out.’

However, prosecutors say, she did not open the door to the trailer and instead continued to ‘clean up inside.’

In total, District Attorney Jenna Wallace said, 15 minutes passed before the parents noticed he was missing, according to the Lincoln Chronicle.

As authorities searched for the young boy, they found a toddler’s footprint at the edge of the river near the couple’s house and a toy his parents said he had been playing with prior to his disappearance.

Court documents also allege that the boy's mother, Cha Met Jackson, told authorities she had heard her son knocking on the door of the trailer she was in on the property and thought, 'Oh s**t, the baby's out' but did not open the door to the trailer and went back to cleaning

Nearly 100 certified search and rescue members were then enlisted to comb the Siletz River and acres of forested land for the toddler.

Several law enforcement agencies joined the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation including the Oregon State Police, the Lincoln City Police Department, Newport PD, the FBI, and Siletz Valley fire.

In total, four watercrafts were used in the search along with 13 divers, four drones, six canines and 40 investigators before Dane’s remains were found by volunteer diver Juan Heredia in the Siletz River, about three miles downstream of the boy’s home.

Court documents now claim both Aaron and Cha Met were ‘aware that Dane loved the water, was not fearful of the water, but did not know how to swim.’

Aaron was ultimately indicted by a grand jury in October, and pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of child neglect the following month.

He was then released under the condition that he is restricted from being present around unsupervised children under the age of five.

Aaron and Cha Met also have an older daughter who was nine at the time of the court proceeding, and was not included in the restriction.

Aaron is now facing misdemeanor child neglect charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty

But the court documents obtained by KATU also detail how one of Aaron and Cha Met’s previous neighbors once called police to report that the elder daughter was also the victim of child neglect.

The neighbor ‘reported that it was not uncommon’ for Dane’s older sister ‘to be left outside playing in the yard or street unsupervised for 30 to 60 minutes as a toddler,’ the court documents allege.

Another report was also filed by a teenager, who came across Dane standing on Highway 229 in September 2024.

The teenager told police the toddler was ‘only wearing a diaper and a blue sweater,’ and brought the young boy back to his house until his parents could be notified.

Prosecutors now plan to call 20 witnesses at Aaron’s upcoming trial.

Eric Schmidt Prevails in Legal Dispute with Former Girlfriend

0

In a dramatic turn of events, allegations of rape made against former Google CEO Eric Schmidt by his ex-mistress have been declared “false,” resulting in her owing him over $10 million in damages, according to an arbitration decision revealed by Page Six.

Arbitrator Beth Andrus, a retired judge from Washington State, concluded that Michelle Ritter engaged in defamation by falsely accusing Schmidt of sexual assault and harassment with malicious intent. Andrus highlighted that the 32-year-old Ritter took extensive measures to avoid testifying under oath regarding her accusations.

In an interim ruling, Andrus stated, “I find that Ritter’s statement claiming she was raped by Schmidt to be false. Schmidt has firmly denied any allegations of sexual assault or physical abuse under oath.” The arbitrator emphasized the lack of credibility in Ritter’s accusations during the proceedings, as reported by Page Six.

Andrus further noted, “Either her accusation of rape was knowingly false, as confirmed by her own declaration, or Ritter was prepared to make a false declaration in exchange for $14 million and an additional $1 million payment to her parents.”

This statement referred to a declaration Ritter had previously signed in a settlement with Schmidt, in which she affirmed that all interactions with him were “entirely consensual” and “never coerced or compelled.”

The arbitrator found Ritter liable to pay $10.7 million to Schmidt — a number that will likely escalate upon on her final decision in a few weeks.

Andrus also slammed Ritter for making her claims on social media, writing, “Ritter chose to use a very public forum to manipulate this system for her own personal benefit — not for the benefit of victims at large …

“Ritter’s shameful false claims of sexual assault, advanced to extort and punish Schmidt, undermine and impair the pursuit of justice by legitimate victims.”

The findings were made on April 29, but are now being made public because Ritter filed a federal lawsuit in California where she attached the arbitrator’s ruling to a sworn declaration.  The federal lawsuit is to challenge the arbitration award and to assert various other claims.

Ritter had also accused Schmidt, who served as Google’s CEO from 20021 to 2011, of stalking and building an insider “backdoor” to Google servers to spy on her and other employees.

She started dating Schmidt in 2021 — and the tech titan helped fund her AI startup Steel Perlot with $100 million — but they were reportedly on the outs by May 2024.

She filed an explosive lawsuit in in Los Angeles County Superior Court last September, in which she alleged Schmidt. 71, assaulted her on a yacht off the coast of Mexico in 2021 and again at the 2023 Burning Man festival.

“He followed me into a shower, slammed me against the wall, and forcibly raped me,” Ritter previously alleged. “I begged him to stop and cried out that he was hurting me, but he ignored my pleas. The next morning, Schmidt attempted to convince me that I enjoyed the assault.”

She similarly alleged that in August 2023, at the Burning Man festival in Nevada, Schmidt initiated sex while she slept.

“I clearly told him ‘no’ and tried to get him to stop, but I had learned that attempting to resist physically would be futile and make things worse,” she added in the same legal filing.

Ritter further accused Schmidt of unwanted voyeurism and pressuring her with sexual fetishes.

“On multiple occasions, Schmidt surreptitiously photographed me without my consent while I was nude, including entering the bathroom to take photographs while I was showering,” she stated.

The relationship ended after photos surfaced in early 2024 of Schmidt with a 22-year-old woman, according to court documents. Post-breakup, Ritter claimed that the surveillance escalated.

Schmidt has been married to his wife, Wendy, since 1980. He was recently linked to Gloria-Sophie Burkandt, a 27-year-old model, economist and PhD candidate who is the daughter of Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder, but he is currently not seeing anyone seriously, we’re told.

in her filing, Ritter claimed she had not been allowed to give evidence and called the judge’s statements “false, disparaging, and defamatory.”

Ritter said she was the vicim of an “abuse-of-process pattern,” insisting the arbitration proceedings were “not used to adjudicate a genuine dispute on the merits but to manufacture a damages judgment against a pro se sexual-assault reporter through procedural mechanisms she could not effectively contest.”

Schmidt’s attorney Craig Marcus declined to comment. Page Six has reached out to Ritter for comment.

Alex Murdaugh’s Murder Case Returns to Lowcountry Courtroom for New Developments

The South Carolina Supreme Court has ordered a retrial in the high-profile murder case against Alex Murdaugh, signaling the beginning of what could be another prolonged legal saga in the state’s Lowcountry.

A recent entry in the court records, labeled as a “Remittitur” for Richard Alexander Murdaugh, was filed on May 29, officially directing the case back to the trial court level.

This remittitur means that the trial court will now take the reins, with prosecutors, defense attorneys, and the court preparing to embark on a new trial process. This phase is expected to involve scheduling hearings, revisiting prior motions, resolving disputes over evidence, and potentially setting a new trial date.

Once a prominent attorney in South Carolina, Murdaugh was previously found guilty in the 2021 killings of his wife, Maggie, and their younger son, Paul, at the family’s rural hunting lodge in Colleton County. The retrial presents a new chapter in this tragic and complex legal case.

In May, the South Carolina Supreme Court ordered a retrial in the murder case, upending one of the state’s most closely watched convictions.

The formal return of the case to the lower court does not mean a retrial is imminent.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson previously told News Media that he hopes to retry the notorious case “quickly.”

Wilson said his office is aiming to bring the case back to court within the next year, though he admitted that the timeline is not guaranteed.

“Look, I’m being aspirational when I say this, but we would like to try to get this case up before January 2027. That would be our goal,” he said.

Murdaugh’s lead defense attorney, Dick Harpootlian, has said the defense plans to seek a venue change, attorney-led jury questioning and potentially sequestration of jurors.

“We now have the ability to get people’s social media, their Instagrams, all of that,” he previously told News Media. “And we’ll scour that before they ever get a chance to appear.”

Murdaugh’s retrial comes after the state’s Supreme Court unanimously reversed the disgraced lawyer’s convictions in the killings of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, ruling that Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca “Becky” Hill improperly influenced jurors during the six-week trial.

Though his murder convictions and subsequent life sentences were overturned by the South Carolina Supreme Court on Wednesday, he remains in prison to serve sentences for his financial crimes.
