Australia Backs Groundbreaking UN Resolution on Climate Change Accountability

0

IN BRIEF

  • The United Nations resolution wants to deem the failure to limit fossil fuel production as an “internationally wrongful act”.
  • A group of students from the Pacific instigated and advocated for the advisory opinion.

Australia has thrown its support behind a groundbreaking United Nations resolution, initiated by its Pacific island neighbors, calling for decisive action on climate change.

The resolution, adopted by the 193-member UN, includes an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which cautions that neglecting to reduce fossil fuel production could be considered an “internationally wrongful act.”

This significant legal opinion from the ICJ, published in July 2025, was initially proposed by a group of Pacific students and represents a significant step forward in global climate action.

The Pacific island nation of Vanuatu was the first to champion this cause, actively supporting the advisory opinion.

Vanuatu, along with its Pacific allies, took the lead in sponsoring the UN General Assembly resolution, highlighting its commitment to addressing the climate challenges it faces.

The resolution passed with 141 votes in favour, eight against and 28 abstentions.

Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change director Vishal Prasad is one of the students who instigated the ICJ advisory opinion.

“This must be a turning point in accountability for damaging the climate,” he said.

“Communities on the frontlines, like in the Pacific, have been waiting far too long and continue to pay too high a price for the actions of others.”

Amanda McKenzie, chief executive of the Australia-based Climate Council, said the ruling exposes the federal government’s stance on fossil fuel exports.

“While the government is ramping up renewable power, it is still giving fossil fuel giants a free ride,” she said.

“Continuing to wave through massive new coal and gas projects puts our kids’ future at risk and is now clearly against international law.”

Australia voted in favour of the resolution.

The nation remains a major exporter of coal and gas, despite pursuing significant domestic emissions cuts and ambitious renewables targets.

Other big fossil fuel producers, including the United States, Russia, Iran and Saudi Arabia, opposed the measure.

Australia was not among the resolution’s 69 co-sponsors leading into the vote. Australia and New Zealand were the only Pacific nations missing from the list.

Australia holds a key president of negotiations role heading into the next Conference of the Parties climate change talks to be held in Türkiye, with Fiji and Tuvalu set to hold official pre-event meetings.

Low-lying Tuvalu is expected to lose 90 per cent of its land to the ocean by the end of the century due to sea level rise.

The UN General Assembly resolution formally reaffirms the ICJ’s findings and urges governments to align policies with limiting global warming to 1.5C.

It also urges nations in violation to provide reparation for damage and calls for the regulation of fossil fuel companies.

Airbnb Unveils Comprehensive Expansion: Introducing Airport Pickups, Luggage Storage, and AI-Driven Travel Solutions

0

Airbnb is extending its reach well beyond home rentals, introducing a variety of services such as airport pickups, grocery deliveries, luggage storage, car rentals, boutique hotels, and unique travel experiences as part of its broader venture into the travel industry.

On Wednesday, the company revealed that travelers now have the option to book grocery deliveries through Instacart in more than 25 U.S. cities. Additionally, airport transportation can be arranged via Welcome Pickups across over 160 cities worldwide, and luggage storage is available at more than 15,000 locations globally through Bounce.

In a move to further enhance its offerings, Airbnb will introduce in-app car rentals later this summer.

“Our goal is to infuse a bit of magic into every trip,” stated Airbnb’s Chief Business Officer, Dave Stephenson, in an interview with FOX Business.

Simultaneously, Airbnb is expanding its portfolio by adding boutique and independent hotels in major cities like New York, Paris, London, Rome, and Singapore. The company is also rolling out new AI-driven features, including review summaries, listing comparisons, and enhanced customer support tools.

The expansion builds on Airbnb’s broader push into travel services and experiences beyond traditional home stays.

“[When COVID-19] hit, we had to retrench and focus on the core, and then we did that for a number of years and really worked on and perfected the kind of core business,” Stephenson said. “But then a couple of years ago, part of me coming into this new role was to get us ready to expand into services [and] experiences, which we did May of last year.”

Airbnb now offers more than 3,000 curated experiences worldwide, including tours tied to landmarks such as the Tower of London, Tokyo Skytree and the Taj Mahal.

The company is also leaning into FIFA World Cup 2026 travel with exclusive fan events and athlete-led experiences.

Stephenson said Airbnb expects World Cup demand to outpace the surge it saw during the Paris Olympics, when more than 700,000 guests stayed in Airbnb properties.

“The average homeowner is going to earn about $3,000 from sharing their place,” he said.

Airbnb is also adding new social and group-planning tools. A revamped Trips tab will show reservations alongside nearby restaurants, attractions and experiences, letting users save spots and build shared itineraries.

Later this summer, Airbnb will launch a new travel map and “connections” feature, allowing users to see where friends have stayed, browse their reviews and bookings, and message them directly for travel tips.

“These group itineraries — I think it’s going to be a really cool new feature that people will find really valuable, because when you travel in Airbnb, you tend to travel with family and friends,” Stephenson said.

The new services and hotel offerings are available now in select markets, while car rentals and additional app features are expected to roll out later this summer.

Unlicensed Truck Driver Linked to Fatal California Crash Entered U.S. During Biden Administration, DHS Reports

0

The tragedy on a California highway has brought immigration policies under scrutiny once again. A collision involving a semi-truck driven by an undocumented immigrant from India has left two people dead, raising questions about border security and law enforcement procedures.

Manvir Singh, a 24-year-old, was taken into custody after a catastrophic accident on northbound Highway 99 near Lodi, California, on Tuesday. The California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene around 12:20 p.m. after Singh’s semi-truck lost control and jackknifed, hitting a guardrail and leading to a pileup involving three other vehicles. Tragically, two lives were lost, and Singh reportedly attempted to flee the scene on foot before being apprehended.

Bill Melugin, a Fox News correspondent, reported that Singh had entered the United States illegally at the Arizona border in 2023. After being detained, he was released by the Biden administration, a point that has sparked significant debate. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed these details, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has now placed an immigration detainer on Singh with the local authorities.

Melugin shared the unfolding situation in a series of posts on Twitter/X, shedding light on the immigration aspect of this case. Singh is currently facing serious charges, including vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, and resisting arrest. His bail is set at $185,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Meanwhile, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed to the public as of yet.

Melugin posted the full details in a thread on Twitter/X:

BREAKING: DHS confirms to @FoxNews that the semi truck driver arrested for killing two people in a hit & run crash near Sacramento, CA yesterday is an Indian illegal alien who was caught & released at the AZ border by the Biden admin in 2023. His name is Manvir Singh, and he is now facing charges in San Joaquin County, CA for vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit & run resulting in death. He allegedly tried to flee the scene on foot after the crash. ICE has placed a detainer on him with local law enforcement.

This is the fourth Indian illegal alien truck driver with the last name ‘Singh’ that we’ve covered who has been arrested for killing innocent people in crashes around the country, going back to last year.

No details on his CDL yet, or if he even has one. More to come.

Singh is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit-and-run resulting in death or injury, and resisting a police officer. His bail is set at $185,000, and he is expected to appear in court on Thursday. The victims have not yet been publicly identified.

Shortly after, Melugin posted a second update sharing DHS’s formal statement on the crash:

“This criminal illegal alien from India should never have been behind the wheel of a semi-truck and allowed to kill two innocent people in a multi-vehicle crash in California,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. ‘He is now charged with vehicular manslaughter, hit and run resulting in death or injury, and resisting a police officer. This is yet another example of why illegal aliens should not be operating trucks on American highways. We need Congress to pass Dalilah’s Law to prohibit states from granting illegal aliens commercial driver’s licenses.”

The timing of this crash is impossible to ignore. It comes less than a week after the Supreme Court issued a unanimous 9-0 ruling in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II LLC that freight brokers can be held liable in state court when they negligently hire unsafe trucking companies. The decision, written by Justice Amy Coney Barrett, rejected the trucking industry’s long-standing argument that the Federal Aviation Administration Authorization Act (FAAAA) shields brokers from such lawsuits.

“A claim that one company negligently hired another to transport goods is not preempted by the FAAAA because States retain authority to regulate safety ‘with respect to motor vehicles’ under the Act,” Barrett wrote.

The ruling “resolved a split among federal appeals courts” and is expected to significantly increase legal exposure for brokers who cut corners when vetting the carriers they hire.

The question of whether a broker knew, or should have known, about a carrier’s safety record and vetting practices will now be squarely before juries in state courts across the country. That could open the door to broader scrutiny of how drivers are hired and credentialed.

That convergence of issues, illegal immigrant drivers, lax CDL oversight, and now expanded broker liability, is fueling an intensifying debate about who bears responsibility when people die on American roads.

That debate had already been building. In December 2025, DHS spotlighted another case involving an illegal immigrant truck driver from India who allegedly caused a fatal crash in Oregon after receiving a commercial driver’s license in California.

“Rajinder Kumar, a criminal illegal alien from India, was released into our country under the Biden administration and issued a commercial driver’s license by Gavin Newsom’s Department of Motor Vehicles. How many more senseless tragedies must take place before sanctuary politicians stop allowing illegal aliens to dangerously operate semi-trucks on America’s roads? Our prayers are with William and Jennifer’s families. Under Secretary Noem, ICE will continue its efforts to get illegal alien truck drivers off America’s highways.”

DHS linked that Oregon crash to a string of other fatal trucking incidents involving illegal immigrant drivers from India, including collisions in Florida and California that left multiple people dead or critically injured.

Dalilah’s Law, named after a young California girl severely injured in a separate trucking crash, would prohibit states from issuing commercial driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. DHS has repeatedly called on Congress to pass it. Given that Melugin is now reporting this as the fourth Indian illegal immigrant truck driver with the surname “Singh” to be arrested for killing people on American roads, the pressure on Capitol Hill is only going to grow.

Editor’s Note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left’s lies, new legislation wasn’t needed to secure our border, just a new president.

Shocking Video: Police Uncover Mackenzie Shirilla’s Devastating Car Crash Site

0

In a dramatic scene captured by body camera footage, Ohio police officers rushed to the site of a devastating car crash involving Mackenzie Shirilla’s vehicle, only to discover the tragic loss of two lives.

At the age of 17, Shirilla earned the nickname ‘hell on wheels’ after a horrific incident where she drove her car into a building in Strongsville, a suburb of Cleveland, at a speed of 100 mph. The crash claimed the lives of her boyfriend, 20-year-old Dominic Russo, and their friend, 19-year-old Davion Flanagan.

The accident occurred in the early hours of July 31, 2022, when police arrived to find Shirilla’s Toyota Camry devastatingly split in half in front of the Plidco Building.

An officer at the scene described the shocking sight, stating, “Radio, this car’s split in two,” as captured in body camera footage recently released by TMZ. The footage shows the officer navigating through a field of debris.

Upon reaching the wreckage, the officer found Shirilla trapped between the driver’s seat and the door, while tragically, the two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

At that point, he determined that they had been there for hours.

But soon, the police officer noticed that Shirilla was still breathing, but was unconscious – and tried to tear off the door to rescue her while another police officer tried to cut her passengers out of their seats in the back.

‘Holy smokes, [this is] the last thing you expect to see,’ the police officer could be heard telling other officers at the scene.

‘This is the worst crash I’ve ever seen,’ he later added, after discovering that Shirilla crashed through a sign and split her car in half after hitting into the brick building.

When firefighters arrived on the scene minutes later, the officer tells them that all of the occupants in the vehicle are ‘all young – possibly teenagers’ as he asked for a medical helicopter to rush to the scene to attend to Shirilla.

Firefighters then worked to get the door of the vehicle pried off and pull the teenager out of the vehicle, as she could be heard screaming.

The firefighters then gently lift her onto a stretcher, when she tells officers her name is Mackenzie and one of her friends was Dom.

She was then brought into an ambulance, where she told EMTs her right leg was hurting – while the officer urged others not to tell her that her two friends had been killed.

As officers later worked to investigate what caused the deadly crash, they obtained surveillance footage showing her vehicle hurtling along a quiet road.

The vehicle could then be seen smashing through a business sign and slamming into the side of the building.

At trial, prosecutors argued the crash was no accident and pointed to video evidence they said showed a deliberate action and not a loss of control.

Judge Nancy Margaret Russo, who presided over the case, agreed.

Dominic (left) and their friend Davion Flanagan, 19, were found dead inside the vehicle

‘This was not reckless driving – this was murder,’ she said when delivering her verdict in 2023. ‘She had a mission, and she executed it with precision. The decision was death.’

The judge described Shirilla’s actions as ‘controlled, methodical, deliberate, intentional, and purposeful,’ concluding that she intended to kill the young men.

She was convicted on multiple counts, including aggravated vehicular homicide and felonious assault, and sentenced to a lengthy prison term with the possibility of parole.

The case drew national attention, fueled in part by disturbing details about Shirilla’s behavior before the crash. Her horrific actions have come back into the spotlight following the release of the documentary The Crash, streaming on Netflix.

At one point, she posted a photo on TikTok with the caption: ‘I’m just one of those girls that can do a lot of drugs and not die.’

During emotional court proceedings, family members of the victims rejected the idea that the crash was anything but intentional.

The teenager was surprised when she was convicted of double murder in August 2023. She is now serving a life sentence, with the earliest chance of parole in 15 years

‘No one wanted this to be a murder, or to punish Mackenzie Shirilla for this accident, but this was not a car accident,’ Christine Russo, the mother of Dominic Russo, said in court.

‘The evidence and science proved that Mackenzie Shirilla murdered my son Dominic as well as Davion.’

Despite maintaining her innocence, Shirilla’s conviction was upheld on appeal in 2024.

Then in March, the Eighth District Court of Appeals upheld a lower court decision rejecting Shirilla’s post-conviction petition, stating that a request for a new trial came one day too late under Ohio law.

‘The filing of a postconviction petition is a jurisdictional act,’ the court wrote in its ruling.

‘Because the appellant filed the petition on the 366th day following the filing of the trial transcript, the trial court was without jurisdiction to consider the merits of the claims, and the application of equitable tolling is prohibited in the context of this jurisdictional bar.’

Her attempt to secure a new trial had hinged not on new evidence, but on claims that a post-conviction petition arrived too late and she never got a full hearing.

Shirilla is now behind bars, serving a sentence of 15 years to life for the two deaths.

Watch: Atlanta Duo Caught Red-Handed in Alachua Car and Firearm Theft

Staff Report

ALACHUA, Fla. – Authorities apprehended Nathaniel Tramell Gates, 27, and Jada Jamil Kendrick, 22, both residents of Atlanta, following a pursuit involving a stolen Audi A4. The incident unfolded on Sunday in Alachua.

On the night of May 17, at approximately 9:54 p.m., an officer from the Alachua Police Department noticed the stolen vehicle departing a gas station on U.S. Highway 441. The officer initiated a traffic stop by engaging his emergency lights, but the Audi maneuvered past another marked patrol car, also with its lights flashing, and sped onto I-75 heading north. Eventually, after accelerating on the on-ramp, the vehicle decelerated and came to a stop.

For a visual account of the event, you can view the APD’s video of the incident here.

Upon exiting the car, Gates can be heard on body camera footage explaining that Kendrick is pregnant and they were en route to the hospital. He also mentioned it was his birthday, although records indicate his birthday was actually on May 14, not May 17, and claimed the vehicle was a rental.

Kendrick then got out of the car and was detained; she was taken to an emergency room for medical clearance before being transported to the jail.

A search of the vehicle reportedly produced two Oxycodone Hydrochloride tablets in Gates’s wallet and a stolen Glock 23 pistol under the passenger seat.

Post Miranda, Gates reportedly said his fingerprints might be on the firearm because he had handed it to Kendrick.

Post Miranda, Kendrick reportedly admitted to taking the Audi against the will of the owner, and she said she was aware at the time that the owner’s Glock pistol was inside the vehicle.

Gates has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing with emergency lights activated, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He has felony convictions in Georgia and Texas and an active out-of-state warrant. Judge Joy Danne set bail at $35,000; he is still in the Alachua County Jail.

Kendrick has been charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and grand theft of a firearm. She has no criminal history, and Judge Danne set bail at $10,000; she posted bail and has been released from the jail.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Amid her ongoing separation from estranged husband Todd Bradley, whom she parted ways with last December, the 40-year-old star of Real Housewives of New York City has fueled speculation of another split. This time, the buzz comes from her decision to unfollow 32-year-old Brandon on Instagram.

Upon searching through Bronwyn’s list of followed accounts, Brandon’s profile is noticeably absent.

Interestingly, Brandon still follows Bronwyn, indicating that while she has unfollowed him, she hasn’t blocked him from accessing her page.

Meanwhile, when it comes to Brandon’s list of followed accounts, Bronwyn is still active, meaning he has remained following her, and she has not blocked him from her page.

Brandon Good Still Follows Bronwyn Newport Amid Split Rumors

While Bronwyn has been fairly silent in recent months in regard to her breakup with Todd, she did address the topic in February while appearing on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa podcast.

“Todd and I are tricky. We’ve been together for a long time … [And] I do really love Todd,” she explained, noting that the two of them faced challenges over the “last year, specifically,” than they were ready for, including her mom’s illness and her dad’s passing.

“I woke up tired,” Bronwyn admitted. “[I thought], ‘I don’t want to go around and around and around again.’”

“ Todd and I are separated, and it’s very difficult because our lives are so intertwined and so intermeshed after all this time together,” she continued. “And I hear him saying to me since I’ve asked for that separation that he wants to understand and he wants to do different[ly] and he wants to make it right, and there is a huge part of me that wants that for him.”

Bronwyn even suggested she was hoping to get back together.

“I do want us to be together. I’d love to just smooth it over and move forward,” she revealed. “There’s also a part of me that feels like some things you shouldn’t have to explain, some things you shouldn’t have to ask for. Some things should be, like, innately understood in such a close relationship.”

“I think I’m being very difficult for Todd right now because I don’t know what I want next,” she added. “I think I just want some space and some time to think about it.”

7 Effective Exercises to Reduce Belly Fat More Efficiently Than HIIT for Individuals Over 60

Struggling with a persistent belly pooch after turning 60? Consider swapping high-intensity interval training (HIIT) for these seven effective exercises.

As we age, the challenge of dealing with a hanging belly pooch becomes more pronounced. This is often due to a combination of declining muscle mass, reduced daily activity levels, and hormonal changes that make managing body fat more difficult. The lower abdomen can be particularly stubborn, altering your waistline’s appearance and often feeling like the hardest area to tone. While years of inconsistent strength training and prolonged periods of sitting can be contributing factors, the goal remains consistent: enhance your body composition through regular movement, sound nutrition, and sustainable strength exercises.

Many people wish for spot reduction, but unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. You can’t choose a specific area, like the lower belly, and expect to trim fat from just that spot with a single “miracle” workout. Successful fat loss requires burning more calories than you consume over time. Strength training plays a crucial role by building lean muscle, which helps your body appear more toned as you shed overall body fat.

From my experience, clients often achieve better results when they focus on consistent, lower-intensity exercise routines rather than trying to overpower every session. Although HIIT has its benefits, it can be harsh on the joints and may affect recovery and motivation, especially after 60. Instead, simpler exercises can effectively target your core, legs, hips, and upper body while maintaining a low barrier to entry. The following seven exercises are designed to engage your midsection, boost calorie expenditure, build lean muscle, and encourage positive body changes without making every workout feel like a grueling ordeal.

I’ve seen plenty of clients make better progress once they stop trying to crush every workout and start stacking consistent, lower-stress movement. HIIT has its place, but it can feel rough on the joints, recovery, and motivation after 60. Simple exercises can still challenge your core, legs, hips, and upper body while keeping the barrier to entry low. The seven moves below help train your midsection, support calorie burn, build lean muscle, and give your body a better reason to change without turning every session into a beatdown.

Incline Mountain Climbers

Incline mountain climbers train your core, shoulders, hip flexors, and legs while keeping the movement more joint-friendly than floor-based climbers. Elevating your hands makes the position easier to control, but your midsection still has to brace as your knees drive forward. This helps shrink a hanging belly pooch from the right angle: more total-body effort, better core control, and a steady heart-rate bump without the chaos of HIIT. Keep the pace controlled and make your abs hold your hips steady.

Muscles Trained: Core, shoulders, hip flexors, quads

How to Do It:

  1. Place your hands on a bench, counter, or sturdy elevated surface.
  2. Step your feet back into a plank position.
  3. Brace your core and keep your hips level.
  4. Drive one knee toward your chest.
  5. Return your foot to the starting position.
  6. Alternate legs with steady control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 30 to 45 seconds. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Slow incline climbers, cross-body incline climbers, higher incline climbers

Form Tip: Keep your hips quiet and avoid bouncing through the reps.

Dead Bugs

Dead bugs train your lower abs and deep core while your arms and legs move away from your body. You have to brace your midsection to keep your lower back from arching, which makes the exercise useful for building control in the lower belly. This won’t spot-reduce fat, but it can help your core feel tighter and more supportive as your body composition improves. The slower you move, the more your abs have to control the rep.

Muscles Trained: Lower abs, deep core, hip flexors, shoulders

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your arms reaching toward the ceiling.
  2. Lift your knees over your hips and bend them to 90 degrees.
  3. Press your lower back gently into the floor.
  4. Extend your right arm and left leg away from your body.
  5. Return to the starting position with control.
  6. Repeat on the opposite side.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Heel-tap dead bugs, same-side dead bugs, paused dead bugs

Form Tip: Keep your lower back pressed down during each rep.

Sit-to-Stand

Sit-to-stands train your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and core while practicing one of the most useful daily movements. Every rep asks your legs to create force and your midsection to keep your torso steady. This gives you more body-composition value than a small ab move because bigger muscle groups are doing real work. Stronger legs also help you move more throughout the day, which matters when fat loss depends on total energy burn.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, core

How to Do It:

  1. Sit near the front edge of a sturdy chair.
  2. Place your feet flat on the floor about hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and lean your torso slightly forward.
  4. Press through your feet to stand tall.
  5. Squeeze your glutes at the top.
  6. Lower back to the chair with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: No-hands sit-to-stands, slow tempo sit-to-stands, paused sit-to-stands

Form Tip: Control the lowering phase and avoid dropping into the chair.

Glute Bridge Marches

Glute bridge marches train your glutes, hamstrings, and core while adding a small balance challenge from the floor. Your hips have to stay lifted as one foot leaves the ground, so your lower abs and glutes work together to keep your pelvis from shifting. This helps support a firmer waistline by building the muscles around your hips and midsection. It also helps counter all the sitting that can leave the glutes underactive and the lower belly feeling unsupported.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, lower abs, core

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Press through your heels and lift your hips.
  3. Brace your core and keep your hips level.
  4. Lift one foot a few inches off the floor.
  5. Place your foot back down with control.
  6. Alternate legs while keeping your hips lifted.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 marches per side. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Regular glute bridges, bridge holds, mini-band glute bridges

Form Tip: Keep your hips steady as each foot lifts.

Standing Marches With Reach

Standing marches with reach train your core, hip flexors, and shoulders, and improve your balance while keeping you upright. As one knee lifts and your arms reach, your midsection has to brace to keep your posture tall. This gives you a simple way to increase calorie burn and train core control without jumping, sprinting, or pounding your joints. The movement also carries over to walking, stairs, and staying steady when one leg leaves the floor.

Muscles Trained: Core, hip flexors, shoulders, calves

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Brace your core and lift your chest.
  3. Raise one knee toward your waist.
  4. Reach your opposite arm overhead or forward.
  5. Lower your foot and arm with control.
  6. Alternate sides in a steady rhythm.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Slower marches, higher knee marches, light dumbbell marches

Form Tip: Stay tall and avoid leaning back as your knee lifts.

Side Plank Holds

Side plank holds train your obliques, hips, shoulders, and glutes while your body resists dropping toward the floor. The muscles along the side of your waist help keep your trunk steady when you walk, turn, carry something, or shift your weight. For a hanging belly pooch, side planks help build a stronger core, while overall fat loss addresses the visual change. Start with a version you can hold cleanly, rather than forcing a shaky full plank.

Muscles Trained: Obliques, core, shoulders, outer hips

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your side with your forearm under your shoulder.
  2. Stack your feet or stagger them for more support.
  3. Brace your core and lift your hips off the floor.
  4. Keep your body in a straight line from head to heels.
  5. Hold the position while breathing steadily.
  6. Lower with control, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 20 to 30 seconds per side. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Bent-knee side plank, staggered-feet side plank, side plank with top-leg lift

Form Tip: Press your forearm into the floor and keep your hips lifted.

Brisk Walking Intervals

Brisk walking intervals help shrink a hanging belly pooch by boosting calorie burning. Walking is low-impact, easy to repeat, and much easier to recover from than many HIIT workouts. Alternating between faster and easier paces keeps the session engaging while still letting you build consistency. The more often you move without beating yourself up, the easier it becomes to support fat loss and keep your body active.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, calves, core

How to Do It:

  1. Start with an easy walking pace for a few minutes.
  2. Pick up your pace until your breathing gets slightly heavier.
  3. Hold the faster pace for 30 to 60 seconds.
  4. Slow down and recover for 60 to 90 seconds.
  5. Repeat the interval cycle for your planned time.
  6. Finish with a few minutes of easy walking.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 10 to 20 minutes of intervals. Rest as needed.

Best Variations: Incline walking, longer brisk intervals, steady moderate walking

Form Tip: Walk tall and swing your arms with purpose.

A hanging belly pooch responds best to a plan that combines core control, lean muscle, daily movement, and nutrition that supports fat loss. The exercises above give your body a stronger foundation without the joint stress or recovery hit that can come with constant HIIT. Keep the workouts simple enough to repeat, and focus on making each rep clean instead of chasing exhaustion.

  • Keep calories aligned with fat loss: The lower belly changes when overall body fat trends down. Prioritize protein, balanced meals, and portions that fit your goal.
  • Train your core for control: Dead bugs, side planks, and bridge marches teach your midsection to brace and support your pelvis. A stronger core helps your belly feel firmer as body composition improves.
  • Use bigger muscles often: Sit-to-stands, marches, and walking intervals engage your legs and hips, which help increase total work without high-impact training.
  • Choose consistency over punishment: HIIT can be useful, but soreness and fatigue can make people skip workouts. Simple daily movement keeps momentum going.
  • Move outside of formal workouts: Walking, stairs, housework, and short movement breaks all add to daily calorie burn. Those small pieces matter more than most people realize.

A lower belly won’t change from one brutal workout. It changes when your body gets steady movement, enough strength work, and the right nutrition cues day after day. Keep the plan repeatable, and the progress becomes easier to sustain.

Armored Vehicle Assists Police in Dramatic Capture of Gunman After Intense Neighborhood Standoff

0

The gripping conclusion of a fatal altercation in California is vividly depicted in newly released bodycam and drone footage, showcasing the moment deputies in an armored BearCat vehicle neutralized an armed suspect. This individual had allegedly slain Tulare County Deputy Randy Hoppert during a tense standoff.

On Tuesday, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office unveiled a nearly seven-minute compilation. The footage merges body-worn camera views with thermal drone imagery and slow-motion sequences, capturing the intense gunfight that ensued after 59-year-old David Morales allegedly ambushed deputies delivering an eviction notice in Porterville on April 9.

The video reveals deputies seeking refuge behind patrol vehicles as shots ring out across the neighborhood, while SWAT teams strategically maneuver armored vehicles into position surrounding the suspect’s residence.

The video shows the massive tactical response that followed as Kern County Sheriff’s Office SWAT operators arrived with armored vehicles, including a BearCat and a Rook, to help evacuate nearby residents and contain Morales.

Authorities said Morales continued firing from inside the home for hours while tactical teams attempted to negotiate his surrender.

At around 5:30 p.m., investigators said Morales opened fire on the armored Rook vehicle, with rounds penetrating armor plating and damaging ballistic glass.

The video then shows Morales climbing out of a window and fleeing into thick brush in the backyard while armed with a rifle and wearing camouflage and a mask.

Drone footage and bodycam video captured Morales lying beneath a tree while aiming a rifle at the driver of the BearCat, according to investigators.

Authorities said deputies determined Morales continued posing an imminent threat and used the BearCat as a means of deadly force.

The footage shows the BearCat accelerating toward Morales as gunfire erupts. Investigators said Morales fired multiple rounds that struck the driver’s side window and underside of the armored vehicle during the encounter.

Deputies backed away and then re-engaged Morales a second time, according to the video.

Authorities said Morales continued manipulating his rifle and reached for a handgun in his waistband after the second impact.

Deputies then used the BearCat to run over Morales a third and final time.

“The suspect was lying prone on the ground, in camouflage clothing, continuing to pose a threat,” Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said after the incident. “The situation was resolved, and the suspect is now dead. He was not shot. One of the BearCats ran over him and killed him.”

The sheriff later defended the tactics used to stop Morales in blunt terms.

“Don’t shoot at cops. You shoot at cops, we’re gonna run you over,” Boudreaux said. “He got run over. He got what he deserved.”

Authorities said the confrontation began earlier that morning when deputies arrived at Morales’ home to serve a final eviction notice after he allegedly failed to pay rent for 35 days. Investigators said Morales appeared to have “laid in wait” before opening fire on deputies with a high-powered rifle.

Hoppert, a former Navy corpsman who joined the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office in 2020, was struck during the ambush and rushed to Sierra View District Hospital, where he later died.

Authorities considered airlifting Hoppert to Fresno for treatment, but his condition was too unstable.

“This situation went from a civil order of removal to where our officer was shot and killed. This is senseless,” Boudreaux said.

Boudreaux also described the emotional aftermath of the shooting, saying he met with Hoppert’s family at the hospital following the deputy’s death.

“I sat down at the hospital and met with the wife and his mom, and I can tell you there is no consoling that family at this point,” Boudreaux said. “Attacks on law enforcement of this nature must stop.”

On May 12, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Incident Review Board determined the use of force was within department policy. The case will also be reviewed by the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office.

Jeff Probst Unintentionally Reveals ‘Survivor 50’ Finale Outcome in Live Broadcast Blunder

0

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

In an unexpected twist during Wednesday night’s live finale of “Survivor 50,” host Jeff Probst inadvertently let slip a crucial outcome of the competition.

The seasoned host, 64, unwittingly disclosed that contestant Rizo Velovic was defeated in the pivotal fire-making challenge, which determines who progresses to the Final Three. This revelation came before the segment was broadcast, leaving viewers in suspense.

During the live event in Los Angeles, Probst commented, “Camp life is also about fire-making,” as Velovic stood by his side on the stage.

He then continued, somewhat absentmindedly, “I don’t know if there’s something in there to think about. Anyway, Rizo, you’ve become the final member of our jury. Take a spot over here,” inadvertently confirming Velovic’s loss and subsequent elimination from the competition.

“This is it. These are our people. Their games fell a little short, but this is the group that is going to…” Probst added before suddenly stopping.

“What just happened?” he asked.

Several contestants seated nearby quickly pointed out the mistake, telling Probst, “The fire hasn’t happened yet.”

“Huh?” Probst replied as cast members continued speaking over one another. “Keep going,” someone yelled from off camera.

“I’m not even sure what’s happened,” Probst admitted before CBS cut to commercial.

When the broadcast returned, Probst addressed the mix-up.

“Alright, so, I love doing live television,” he said as the audience cheered.

“In case you’re confused, this is what happened. We were going to show you fire-making, and then have the loser of fire-making, Rizo, come out and talk about if he had practiced fire-making maybe he would’ve won.

“Instead, we did a ‘Survivor’ twist, it’s the last twist of the season. We call it, ‘A peek into the future.’ So now, we’re going to watch Rizo lose in a fire to Jonathan.”

The fire-making challenge had been filmed months earlier in Fiji. The segment showed Jonathan Young defeating Velovic to secure a spot in the Final Three.

Probst then introduced the footage by telling the audience to “watch Rizo lose!”

Fans quickly reacted to the on-air mistake on social media.

“As someone who missed the Will Smith slap live, this was the wildest live TV moment I’ve ever seen. RIP to whoever just lost their job,” one viewer wrote.

“Welp we’re never getting a live finale again,” another posted.

“It’s incredible – but handled it very well. It was funny. We all knew who was going to win fire. All good,” a third added.

Aubry Bracco was ultimately crowned the winner of “Survivor 50,” defeating Young and Joe Hunter at the Final Tribal Council to win the $2 million prize.

The live TV mishap came just one week after Probst responded to fan criticism that “Survivor” has become less cutthroat in recent years.

“We experiment with all kinds of new ideas, and we tried to usher in the most unpredictability we’ve ever had,” Probst told Variety.

“Whether or not you like the season is subjective, but it’s not that something didn’t work. We’ve made bad choices in the past. I just don’t think we did in 50.”

Male Model Faces Court Proceedings Following the Death of Personal Trainer Husband

A male model facing allegations of fatally stabbing his personal trainer spouse appeared noticeably altered during his court appearance on Wednesday.

Donald Zieben-Hood, aged 41, who once boasted an Instagram following of over 67,000, presented himself in casual tan prison attire as he stood before a New York judge. He faces serious charges, including burglary, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, linked to the death of his husband, Jacob Zieben-Hood, on August 1, 2025.

With a confident demeanor, Donald listened as his attorneys petitioned for his release on bail. They proposed that his mother, a retired educator battling a brain aneurysm, would cover the bail amount. Additionally, his legal team assured the court that Donald would comply with electronic monitoring.

However, the judge ultimately refused the bail request, citing Donald’s apparent disregard for the legal system and the court’s authority.

The judge highlighted Donald’s alleged history of defying several protective orders that Jacob had obtained. The accusations include repeatedly breaching Jacob’s residence and issuing threats prior to the tragic incident.

Then on July 31, just hours before his death, prosecutors say Jacob, 34, made a desperate call to his father warning that his husband was ‘coming after him.’

He sent photos of fresh injuries, including cuts to his face, head and a large bleeding gash in his leg.

By 4am the next morning, police were back at the couple’s apartment on West 146th Street in New York City.

Inside, they found Jacob dead in the bathroom, his body still on the toilet, with stab wounds to his leg and a head injury.

Officers described a chaotic crime scene with blood smeared on the furniture, walls, floor, and counters, suggesting there had been a violent struggle.

Court documents obtained by the New York Post revealed the couple had been celebrating their 10 year anniversary the night before, when they got into the explosive fight.

Donald was arrested at the scene, when he allegedly pleaded with officers to tell him how his husband died.

‘I want to know how he died because I don’t want it to be because of me,’ he told the officers at the scene, according to the court documents. ‘If he committed suicide or if he freaking OD’ed on some stupid a** drugs.

‘I’m never going to see him again,’ Donald then lamented, noting: ‘This was our 10-year f***ing anniversary.’

The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined that Jacob died from ‘multiple blunt and sharp force injuries’ to his legs and other parts of his body.

Officials also cited ‘acute alcohol and lorazepam intoxication and chronic alcohol use’ as contributing factors.

Yet Donald will not face homicide charges in connection with Jacob’s death.

Prosecutors announced the decision in March, noting there was ‘reasonable doubt’ about whether multiple stab wounds Jacob sustained from the fight would have caused his death alone.

Assistant District Attorney Samantha LiTrenta also revealed in court at the time that Jacob had a blood alcohol level of 0.40 percent – which is considered potentially fatal – mixed with valium in his system at his death.

Those substances could have killed him even if he had not been stabbed.

Still, prosecutors say Donald engaged in a pattern of abuse in the lead up to Jacob’s death.

In February 2025, police say Donald strangled Jacob during a beating that left him nearly unconscious. Then in June, he allegedly returned with a knife, prompting a third restraining order.

If convicted on the assault and burglary charges, Donald could now face up to 25 years in prison.

He is due back in court on August 12.
