Tragedy Strikes: Alleged Drunk Driver Ends Two Lives Just Steps from Home in NYC Crash

0

Authorities report that a suspected intoxicated driver, responsible for the tragic deaths of two men and injuries to three others, was merely two blocks from his residence when the devastating incident unfolded. The crash sent shockwaves through the community and law enforcement is investigating the details.

Elvin Suarez, a resident of Morningside Heights, now faces several grave charges, including manslaughter, vehicular assault, and driving while intoxicated, according to police sources.

The chaotic sequence of events was set in motion around 6 p.m. on Friday. Suarez, driving a 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 SUV, collided with a stationary 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SUV near the intersection of West 109th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, police indicated.

Ignoring the destruction left in his wake, the Mercedes-Benz proceeded north, crossing the intersection before surmounting a concrete pedestrian island. It struck four men, aged 46, 44, 36, and 35, as confirmed by authorities.

The reckless journey concluded when the vehicle crashed into a parked 1999 Chevrolet Astro van, inside which a 51-year-old man was seated. The incident remains under investigation as the community grapples with the aftermath.

The van was pushed forward, which set off another set of collisions, police said.

The struck Chevy hit four other parked cars including a 2005 Honda CR-V, a 2001 Toyota Sienna, a 2005 Toyota 4Runner and a 2014 Nissan Altima, cops said.

In the hours after the crash, Suarez, 61, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, tested at a .1 blood alcohol content, above the .08 legal limit for driving, a police source said.

The four pedestrians, the Chevy Astro occupant and the Mercedes-Benz operator were taken by ambulance to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital.

Michael Saint-Hilaire, a 35-year-old father of triplets, and doorman Jason Negron, 46, were pronounced dead at the hospital.

Suarez and the others were in stable condition, cops said.

Suspect Apprehended in Connection with May 14 Fatal Shooting: Breaking News Update

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — A significant breakthrough has been made by the Savannah Police Department (SPD) in the investigation of a fatal shooting that occurred on May 14 in the 1000 block of E. 38th St., resulting in the tragic death of one individual.

Authorities have apprehended Gregory Green, 55, who has been implicated as the suspect. His arrest took place on May 16 through the collaborative efforts of SPD’s Homicide and SWAT teams. Green faces charges of murder and aggravated assault linked to the events on May 14, when officers responded to an alert from the ShotSpotter system.

Upon arriving at the location, officers found a person critically injured on the street. Despite the emergency response team’s attempts to administer life-saving aid, the victim succumbed to their injuries.

Heroic Goats Alert Rescuers to Trapped Owners After Tornado Strikes

0

Two pet goats have emerged as unexpected heroes, credited with saving their owners and neighbors after a devastating tornado buried them beneath tons of debris in Oklahoma.

Adam and Mary Sloat, alongside their teenage daughter and two neighbors, found themselves trapped in an underground storm shelter. This happened when a ferocious EF-4 tornado, with winds reaching up to 200 mph, completely destroyed their home in Enid, Oklahoma, on April 23.

The family’s cherished goats, Percy and Penny, survived the catastrophic event and played a crucial role in the rescue. They climbed onto the wreckage, persistently stomping and bleating, which alerted first responders to the fact that the group was trapped below.

“They saved us. No doubt about it,” Adam Sloat shared in an interview with the New York Post.

The harrowing experience started shortly after 8 p.m., following a rare tornado emergency alert issued by the National Weather Service. This high-level warning signaled the imminent approach of the tornado toward the city, home to approximately 50,000 residents.

The Sloat family was relaxing at home and watching the NFL draft when the alert came through.

Sloat, his wife Mary, 52, and their daughter rushed into the family’s underground storm shelter. Neighbors Eddie and Linda joined them just before the half-mile-wide tornado slammed into their property.

‘It sounded like a freight train,’ Sloat said. He told his wife and daughter to grab everything they could and head to the shelter.

As the tornado roared overhead, the family listened in terror as glass shattered and bricks from the chimney crashed onto the storm shelter, denting the cellar door, Mary Sloat told KFOR.

The family initially feared Percy and Penny had been killed.

The goats lived in a simple 16-by-8-foot plywood shelter with a metal roof that was completely obliterated by the storm.

‘I can tell you that none of that is there anymore. There’s just a concrete slab; we didn’t even find the plywood,’ Mary Sloat told KFOR.

When the tornado passed, the family realized they were trapped underground after thousands of bricks from the chimney crushed the cellar doors.

The group called 911, but rescuers were unable to pinpoint their location beneath the wreckage.

‘They’d never hear us,’ Sloat told the Post.

As they waited in darkness, Mary Sloat and her daughter heard what sounded like a miracle.

‘My daughter and I could have sworn that we heard goat noises, and I thought, there’s no way,’ she told KFOR.

Against all odds, Percy and Penny had survived.

Sloat said Percy and Penny stood directly above the buried storm shelter and made a ‘steady stream of noise’ that helped guide rescuers to the exact spot.

‘The rescuers had no idea where we were but Percy and Penny knew,’ he told the Post.

The family and their neighbors were eventually pulled to safety.

‘We finally emerged and couldn’t believe our eyes,’ Sloat said. ‘Everything was gone, and there were first responders walking around.’

One firefighter later told him: ‘We had no idea where you were until we saw your goats.’

Mary Sloat said she learned the next day just how crucial the animals had been to the rescue.

A firefighter told her that when crews came around the back of the house, Percy and Penny were standing on top of the pile of bricks, leading them to suspect the storm shelter was directly underneath.

The tornado tore roofs from buildings, snapped power poles and blocked roads throughout Enid, though officials said only minor injuries were reported.

Now, as the Sloats begin rebuilding their home, they say they will never look at Percy and Penny the same way again.

‘On days whenever they’re being ornery and they headbutt me, or they nip at my fingers, I’m going to have to remember this,’ Mary Sloat told KFOR. ‘I don’t know of anybody else who has a goat story like this.’

Police Report: Woman Injured in Neck by Gunfire After Leaving Party

Inset: Cordaryle Frank-Allen Frost (Anoka County Jail). Background: The intersection of 53rd Avenue Northeast and University Avenue Northeast in Fridley, Minnesota (Google Maps).

A minor traffic mishap escalated into a violent incident when a woman, leaving a party with her 5-year-old child in Minnesota, was shot in the neck by another driver, according to authorities.

Cordaryle Frank-Allen Frost, 38, is currently detained in Anoka County Jail facing charges of first-degree assault causing significant bodily harm and firing a weapon from a vehicle, as indicated by jail records reviewed by Law&Crime.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office has disclosed that a second individual, 37-year-old Cynthia Victoria Frost, was also apprehended in connection with the shooting.

The incident reportedly occurred as the woman was attending a prom send-off party in Columbia Heights, a city situated in Anoka County, just north of Minneapolis. She decided to leave the event with her young daughter.

As they were departing, their SUV seemingly bumped into another vehicle parked behind them, according to ABC affiliate KSTP in the Twin Cities area. Moments later, Cordaryle Frost and his wife entered their vehicle and drove off quickly, followed by the mother and her child.

About a block from the party, the mother said that the Frosts did “something similar to a PIT maneuver” and forced her to pull over. When she did, the suspects allegedly got out of their vehicle and started yelling and threatening to “beat her.”

The mother drove away, but they reportedly caught back up to her. Suddenly, she heard a gunshot and lost control of her body.

She had been shot in the neck, and she lost control of her SUV, causing it to cross over the road and stop in a grassy area in the area of 53rd Avenue Northeast and University Avenue Northeast in Fridley, authorities said. The daughter got out of the vehicle and started running around asking for help, according to KSTP.

The mother had reportedly suffered a spinal cord injury — though the extent of her injuries has not been announced. She is said to have gone into surgery where doctors removed bullet fragments from her neck.

The Frosts were arrested on Monday, and Cordaryle Frost allegedly denied having anything to do with a shooting. Jail records show that his wife faced the same charges as her husband but was released from jail on Wednesday.

Cordaryle Frost is still in jail under $2 million bail.

Man United’s Transfer Wishlist Unveiled: Three Midfield Targets, Benjamin Sesko’s Slovenia Call-Up, and Michael Carrick’s Bournemouth Outburst Explained

Manchester United have narrowed their list of potential midfield recruits to replace Casemiro this summer, focusing on a trio of promising candidates.

Insiders reveal that the contenders leading the charge are Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace. These players are at the forefront of United’s plans to fill the void when the Brazilian star exits Old Trafford at the season’s end.

With Casemiro’s departure looming, United have been associated with several midfield options and may need to search for additional talent if Manuel Ugarte also leaves. However, they face stiff competition from Premier League powerhouses, especially Manchester City, who are reportedly keen on securing Anderson’s services.

While United show interest in Tonali, speculation about a move for his Newcastle colleague, Bruno Guimaraes, has been downplayed. Sources indicate that negotiations are not progressing, and Newcastle are eager to retain the Brazilian midfielder.

Securing a spot in the Champions League would bolster United’s transfer budget and appeal to new signings. Additionally, offloading high-paid players like Casemiro, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho could provide financial flexibility for future acquisitions.

Casemiro will leave as a free agent, United hope that Barcelona will take up the £26million option on Rashford’s loan at the Nou Camp, and Sancho is in talks over a permanent return to Borussia Dortmund when his contract runs out in June.

As well as up to two central midfielders, United will also prioritise a left-sided player. A United scout is believed to have watched Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown in their game against Heidenheim last week when Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson was also assessed with a number of Premier League clubs looking at him in recent weeks.

Sesko’s Slovenia surprise

Benjamin Sesko may have withdrawn from Slovenia’s squad due to injury, but this time there has been no tension between club and country.

In fact, Confidential has learned that United’s £73.7million summer signing turned up to the national team training camp in Ljubljana on Monday and went through some light exercises with his team-mates as part of a fitness test.

Sesko had already pulled out of Slovenia’s games against Hungary and Montenegro ‘in order to ensure that he fully recovers from an issue that United have been carefully managing throughout recent weeks’. But having headed home in the international break, it was an opportunity for him to be assessed by Slovenia’s medical staff and speak to new manager Bostjan Cesar in person.

Cesar replaced Matjaz Kek following Slovenia’s failure to qualify for the World Cup in the wake of a defeat to Kosovo in November. Sesko missed the game with a knee injury sustained in a draw at Tottenham, and Kek was unhappy with the lack of communication from United over the 22-year-old player’s condition.

‘With all due respect to a great club like Man United, we have officially not received anything yet; no papers, no documents,’ said Kek at the time. ‘We want our medical team to take a look at it. Our doctor is an expert in this field, we don’t have just anyone in this position.

‘I have certain information, and I am also in contact with Beni. I can’t say anything because officially we don’t know anything at all, United hasn’t contacted anyone from our camp.’

Sesko isn’t the only United player to withdraw from international duty. Bryan Mbeumo dropped out of Cameroon’s friendlies against Australia and China in Sydney and Melbourne, with the long journey a factor in United’s decision to rest him as a precaution.

Both Sesko and Mbeumo are expected to be fit for United’s next game against Leeds. Harry Maguire will serve a one-match suspension, but Lisandro Martinez will be available again.

Elvis backs Benji

There are those in Manchester who are nostalgic when the term ‘super sub’ gets thrown around, whether it’s for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, or even referring to Michael Owen coming on to score the winner in the 4-3 victory over City – one of United’s greatest ever derby wins.

Owen told Daily Mail Sport on Monday that he sees Sesko as more of a squad player who can come off the bench than a striker who can spearhead a title bid.

Unsurprisingly, back in Sesko’s homeland, his agent Elvis Basanovic has come out bullishly in his defence. ‘If you ask me about this [super sub] name, I don’t like it. I like super striker much more,’ he told Arena Sport. ‘Benjamin is a super striker. He has started 13 games this year, coming off the bench in 13 games.

‘He scored half of his goals when he started the game and half when he came off the bench. We can see that he is a complete striker and Benjamin is someone who deserves the name “super striker”.’

Plenty of pundits in the UK have been strong in critique of Sesko before backing down. Now it’s a waiting game to see if Owen reaches the same conclusion.

Carrick’s spot check

As United wait for a response from the PGMOL over their complaint about the officiating of Friday’s 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium, it’s interesting to learn that Michael Carrick’s anger wasn’t actually directed at the decision to award Bournemouth a late penalty and send off Harry Maguire for his challenge on Evanilson.

The post-match inquest has centred around comparisons between Maguire bringing down the Brazilian and Adrien Truffert flooring Amad Diallo, with Sky Sports referee expert Dermot Gallagher one of many to weigh into the debate.

However, Carrick was more concerned that referee Stuart Attwell and VAR official Craig Pawson saw fit to award United a spot-kick for Alexis Jimenez’s foul on Matheus Cunha and then deny his team a second penalty for the same offence by Truffert on Diallo.

‘It’s pretty much identical for me,’ said Carrick afterwards. ‘A two-hand grab and so either way he (Attwell) has got one wrong. To give one and not give the other, I just can’t get my head around it. It’s crazy. Because of that, they go down the other end, they score and then it’s chaos after that.

‘Surely whatever they think, if one’s been given there’s enough people to decide that it’s the same as the first. That’s what VAR was for. It’s two different decisions, so a bit baffling really.’

The fact that Bournemouth went straight upfield and equalised at 1-1 through Ryan Christie after the Diallo incident only added to Carrick’s sense of injustice. While he accepted that, on balance, the Maguire challenge was worthy of a penalty, in his opinion United should have been 2-0 up at that stage.

Big break for Reds

United’s stars will be given extra-time off at the end of the international break as the club takes advantage of another blank weekend.

Normally the international players would start to drift back into Carrington to resume training at the end of next week. But with United not involved in the FA Cup quarter-finals, they won’t be required to report back until early the following week. That’s good news for the foreign players in particular who can spend some extra time in their homelands seeing family and friends.

The combination of the international break, FA Cup and Premier League fixture has created a unique scenario for United. With the last game at Bournemouth falling on Friday March 20 and the next one at home to Leeds on Monday April 13, the club will have had four blank weekends in total.

The small number of non-internationals will continue to train at Carrington until Thursday – with academy players called in to make up the numbers – and then have the weekend off.

More match-day change

United’s head coach Carrick has already pushed back the team’s arrival time for home games at Old Trafford and brought it forward for away matches, so they are synced at one hour 45 minutes. Carrick also gives the players a day off after games, unlike his predecessor Ruben Amorim who preferred to use it for a recovery session at Carrington.

Now Confidential has learned that for the last two away games at Newcastle and Bournemouth, Carrick has taken the squad on a midday stroll around the hotel grounds to break up the day and give the players some fresh air ahead of the evening kick-off so they aren’t cooped up inside all day.

It’s unclear if this affected Bruno Fernandes’ annual walk on the beach at Bournemouth with Tom Heaton whenever United play at the Vitality Stadium, something the captain divulged when he gave an interview to UK media in October.

Bournemouth might be the furthest Premier League trip for United, but Carrick and the players were back in Manchester in no time after Friday’s 2-2 draw as the team’s flight landed around 12.45am. The squad were home roughly an hour later and then had the weekend off.

Easter heads to Carrington

Extra time around matches has given United the chance to put on more team and family bonding events. Last Wednesday, players brought their families into Carrington for an Easter fun day organised by the club.

Many players have young children, and while previously there have been team-bonding BBQs or Christmas events, this was another chance for family members to experience the newly-renovated Carrington facility.

Last week, the day before players flew down to Bournemouth, United put on entertainment and an Easter egg hunt around Carrington.

It has been well documented that Carrick and his staff have chosen not to over-train players in the absence of games and it’s understood the light relief of a family day on Wednesday was warmly received by the squad.

Ramadan fundraiser a big success

This column has previously detailed the tenacious fundraising efforts of Manchester Muslims Supporters Club (MUMSC), and it is worth reflecting on their efforts during Ramadan. The group raised an impressive £324,437 for Palestinian refugees in Jordan across the past two months.

Part of the fundraising saw MUMSC members distribute cash to refugee families in Jordan, as well as secure 12 months’ worth of sponsorship for around 120 orphans, as well as a further 12 sponsorships for families.

‘This is why we have built the platform that we have,’ MUMSC chairman Asif Javed Mahmud said. ‘Not for numbers or followers but so that we can contribute and do good, both locally here in the UK where we have supported the Manchester United Foundation on local initiatives, and also abroad where we can support those who really need it.’

Alan’s disco beat

Alan Keegan is part of the furniture at United, the Voice of Old Trafford since 2000 whose familiar tones ring around the ground on match days.

The popular stadium announcer is taking his talents elsewhere next month, having signed up to the Dementia Disco at Stockport Guildhall. Along with BBC Radio Manchester’s Joe McGrath, Keegan will host the auction and raffle as part of the fundraising drive.

The event on April 25, which includes live performances from artists such as Clint Boon and The Marlins, is raising money for vital dementia research. United fans looking to support, there is more information online. Just search Dementia Disco.

Leading Children’s Hospital in US Launches New Clinic Following $10M Settlement with DOJ

0

In a significant development, Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) in Houston has agreed to halt the use of puberty blockers for minors. This decision comes as part of a settlement involving a $10 million penalty and the establishment of a new “detransition clinic.” The agreement follows an extensive investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) alongside the state of Texas.

The resolution marks the conclusion of a thorough investigation led by Texas’ Healthcare Program Enforcement Division. Findings from this probe revealed that TCH improperly charged Texas Medicaid for what were described as “unallowable and illegal ‘gender-transition’ interventions,” according to a statement released by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Attorney General Paxton highlighted the significance of the agreement, noting that Texas Children’s will now create the first multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to providing medical care for patients who have undergone “gender-transition” procedures.

“This Detransition Clinic aims to assist patients in reversing the harm caused by physicians who, driven by ideology, performed hazardous medical interventions intended for ‘transitioning’ purposes,” Paxton elaborated in his statement.

All services provided through the detransition clinic will be funded by Texas Children’s and be free of charge to patients for the first five years of the clinic, according to Paxton.

He also revealed that the settlement mandated TCH to fire five “woke” doctors who performed gender transition surgeries on children.

“Today is a monumental day in the fight to stop the radical transgender movement. This historic settlement reflects an institutional and fundamental cultural shift away from radical ‘gender’ ideology. In addition to helping establish the first-ever Detransition Clinic and securing millions, this settlement will ensure that the deranged child mutilators who hurt our kids are fired and held accountable,” Paxton added in his statement.

“I applaud Texas Children’s Hospital for changing course and committing to being a part of the solution by agreeing to form a first-of-its kind Detransition Clinic that will help provide free care to those who have been victimized by twisted, morally bankrupt transgender ideology. Under my watch, I will investigate and bring the full force of the law against any Texas hospital that abuses children with harmful medical interventions to ‘transition’ kids,” he concluded.

In a statement, Texas Children’s Hospital, meanwhile, characterized controversies surrounding its gender-affirming care program as an “unconscionable campaign of mistruths and mischaracterization.”

“Today, we made the difficult decision to settle with the Texas Attorney General and the Department of Justice, closing a chapter that has been wrought with falsehoods and distractions. To be clear – we are settling to protect our resources from endless and costly litigation. This settlement will allow us to redirect those precious resources to focus on the life-saving care and groundbreaking discoveries of our exceptional clinicians and scientists,” the hospital wrote in a Friday statement, which has since been deleted from its website.

Prominent pro-trans activists criticized the move.

“Just complete chicken— stuff by the general counsel and admin at Texas Children’s,” Alejandra Caraballo, a prominent transgender civil rights attorney, wrote in a post on social media network Bluesky.

Detransitioner Chloe Cole, however, praised the decision in her own social media post. “What an incredible moment for the movement to end child mutilation. Texas will be home to the first clinic that helps victims of these barbaric procedures to get back to normalcy,” Cole wrote on X.

Fox News Digital contacted Texas Children’s Hospital, the DOJ and the Texas Attorney’s General office for additional comment.

Hailee Steinfeld Opens Up About Navigating Postpartum Body Changes: Embracing Vulnerability

Hailee Steinfeld is shedding light on the transformative journey she’s experiencing after the arrival of her first child with her husband, Josh Allen.

“Ever notice how some weeks feel wonderfully packed, while others crawl by at a snail’s pace?” Steinfeld, 29, expressed in her “Beau Society” newsletter dated Friday, May 15. “Recently, I’ve somehow been living through both at once.”

Since revealing the birth of their daughter last month, Steinfeld has been adjusting to the emotional roller coaster that comes with the postpartum period.

“Many of you often ask about my current reads, and right now, it’s The First 40 Days,” she shared on Friday. She mentioned that Ayo Edebiri, her companion at the 2026 Golden Globes, gifted her a postpartum care package. “I recently left her a long voice message to express how frequently I’ve been diving into her postpartum emergency kit — every single day!”

hailee-steinfeld-josh-allen-baby

Hailee Steinfeld has also given fans a glimpse of her and Josh Allen’s newborn daughter. On Monday, May 11, she took to Instagram to post a series of photos commemorating her first Mother’s Day. One picture captured the tender moment of the baby’s hand clasping Steinfeld’s finger, while another showcased the little one’s legs and feet.

According to Steinfeld, “every word” in Heng Ou, Amely Greeven and Marisa Belger’s book on motherhood and postpartum recovery has already “resonated” with the actress’ own experience.

“There’s a paragraph early on that talks about how even forty days after giving birth, you’re still in such a vulnerable state,” she wrote in her newsletter. “People understand that about your new baby, but they don’t understand that about you, the mom.”

Steinfeld continued, “I’m still in this early period and need to remember to be super gentle with myself in every way — physically, mentally, nutritionally, spiritually, all of it.”

Amid her postpartum experience, Steinfeld has shifted her usual fitness regimen.

Pregnant Hailee Steinfeld is ready to meet her little one. “This week, I was sitting on the couch in my family room, and the reality that our little family is about to grow really started to settle in,” Steinfeld, 29, wrote via her “Beau Society” newsletter on Friday, February 20. “Of course, I have all […]

“My body has gone through a lot of change recently, so I’m taking it slow while I figure out what my workout routine will look like moving forward,” the Sinners actress explained. “But any time the weather is nice enough to get outside, I’ll get out for a quick walk. If that’s not an option, I’m on the treadmill, or the stairmaster — which I’m really into right now.”

Steinfeld has also followed both The First 40 Days and her doula’s respective advice about postpartum nutrition.

“In general, [my doula] advised me to stick to warm foods during my postpartum recovery to help digestion and boost nutrient absorption, a philosophy that stems from Ayurveda,” Steinfeld said. “Knowing this, my mom made me this amazing albondigas soup the other day. It’s one of those rare soups that looks as good as it tastes.”

Steinfeld and Allen, 29, have been together since 2023, getting married two years later.

Massie Primary Puts Trump’s Influence Over GOP to the Test

0

On Tuesday, President Trump’s efforts to remove Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) will reach a critical point as primary voters decide if the Republican Party still has space for a legislator who dares to openly oppose the president.

This contest has escalated to the most financially intense House primary in U.S. history, per AdImpact. A staggering $25.6 million has been spent on TV, radio, and digital ads, as national Republicans and external groups swarm Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District with scathing attack commercials.

“This is more than just a congressional primary; it’s a measure of Trump’s influence and voter turnout,” remarked TJ Litafik, a GOP strategist based in Kentucky, during an interview with The Hill. “It represents a significant internal struggle within the Republican Party.”

Massie, a libertarian Republican, drew Trump’s ire by opposing him on several key issues, transforming what was once a secure GOP primary into a personal political battle for the president.

In response, Trump endorsed Ed Gallrein, a retired Navy SEAL, as Massie’s challenger and even made a trip to Kentucky in March to encourage Republican voters to replace Massie, whom he has labeled as a “nutjob” and “the WORST Republican Congressman.”

“I just can’t stand this guy,” Trump told the crowd in Massie’s district in early March, adding, “We’ve got to get rid of this loser.”

For many Republican strategists, Tuesday’s primary will test whether Trump’s most aggressive campaign yet against a GOP dissenter — fueled by record-breaking spending and the weight of the party establishment — will be enough to defeat a contrarian congressman whose independent streak has helped keep him in office for more than a decade.

The primary comes after Trump successfully unseated nearly every Indiana GOP state senator he targeted for opposing a GOP-friendly mid-decade redistricting plan. The president has also targeted incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) for, most recently, blocking Trump’s pick for surgeon general.

“What I think we’re all watching is, after Indiana, Trump showcased that he still has ironclad control of the Republican Party. The Massie primary would absolutely solidify whether or not that’s true,” GOP strategist Ron Bonjean told The Hill.

“If Massie loses this primary, it absolutely shows Trump’s hold over it. And if he barely hangs on, it’s sort of a barometer of where Trump stands,” he continued.

The race has garnered national attention, drawing outside surrogates and a record-breaking flood of money from national organizations.

The race’s $25.6 million in ad spending breaks the previous record set in New York’s 16th Congressional District primary in 2024, when spending reached $25.4 million, AdImpact reported at the time.

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data — which includes ad spending along with other campaign costs — the campaigns and political organizations working to influence the outcome of the election spent roughly $35 million.

Massie’s campaign outspent Gallrein’s, $5.8 million to $2.6 million, but super PACs heavily favored the GOP challenger.

In Massie’s corner, independent political groups spent more than $10.1 million supporting him — but super PACs poured more than $16.4 million into ousting the incumbent.

“It’s just tough to keep up with the money,” a Republican running a pro-Massie super PAC, who requested anonymity to speak freely, told The Hill.

But, he added, “The fact that they’re spending $3 million in the final week tells me this is a nail-biter.”

Geoffrey Skelley, chief elections analyst at Decision Desk HQ, said ad spending tends to matter most in primaries.

“When you’ve got this much money coming in that is arguing Massie is not MAGA, not a supporter of President Trump — and President Trump is such a dominating force within the Republican Party,” Skelley said. “Just to have this much concentrated spending against him is, I think, very helpful for the opposition.”

Many of the ad spots have turned vicious, including several AI-generated “deepfakes” targeting opponents’ perceived weaknesses. One pro-Gallrein super PAC released an ad depicting Massie holding hands with progressive Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and claimed Massie was “caught in a throuple.”

A super PAC backing Massie, meanwhile, used AI in one ad to falsely depict Gallrein as a frightened soldier abandoning Trump on a battlefield, in an effort to undermine Gallrein’s MAGA credentials.

Massie’s criticism of Israel has also become a key issue in the race, with the incumbent repeatedly attacking pro-Israel groups like the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Victory Fund and the AIPAC-affiliated United Democracy Project, which account for nearly half of all super PAC spending against him.

Massie, who has long cultivated an independent streak, drew Trump’s ire this past year as the libertarian congressman increasingly broke with the president on several high-profile issues.

But Massie has touted his voting record and pushed back against attacks on his conservative chops.

“I vote with the president 91 percent of the time. The 9 percent of the time, my party is taking up for pedophiles, bankrupting this country or starting another war,” Massie said in an interview in February, after his fellow GOP Kentucky congressman backed Massie’s primary opponent.

“I don’t vote with them, and they want 100 percent compliance. That’s why they’re trying to take me out,” he continued.

Litafik said that “the 9 percent [of issues] that he hasn’t agreed with Trump on have been very important battles for Trump.”

Massie was one of four House Republicans who joined Democrats last summer in publicly calling for the president to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. They held press conferences with Epstein victims and rebuked the president for what they saw as insufficient action on the issue.

The Kentucky congressman has also broken with the president on foreign policy, and he declined to vote for Trump’s signature tax and spending bill last year because it increased government spending and raised the debt ceiling.

While Massie’s constituents have long favored the incumbent’s independent streak, the deep-red district now finds their congressman at odds with the president they backed by an overwhelming margin in 2024.

“When Trump is the sun and the moon and the stars in the Republican Party — and when the full weight of his machine is against you — it’s very tough to overcome,” Litafik said, noting the congressman still has “an incredibly loyal base” behind him.

“Republicans like fighters, but they also want team players,” he added. “And that’s the opening for Gallrein.”

Massie has faced primary opponents in the past, but Skelley said Tuesday will be “the biggest test that Massie has ever faced.”

Litafik contrasted the 4th Congressional District with Kentucky as a state at large, noting the Trump-endorsed candidate in the U.S. Senate race, Rep. Andy Barr, is “almost a sure winner.”

“But the 4th district is not the state at large,” Litafik said. “That’s why, despite all of this Herculean effort for Gallrein, Thomas Massie will be very tough to beat in his district.”

Wimauma Father’s Shocking DUI Arrest: Passed Out With Child in Back Seat Sparks Outrage

PLANT CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — A father from Wimauma faced legal trouble after authorities discovered he was intoxicated and asleep at the wheel with his 5-year-old son in the back seat, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The incident led to the father spending a night behind bars.

Deputies arrived at a Plant City gas station shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday following a report of a man who appeared unresponsive in the parking lot.

Man Enters Pharmacy, Covered in Blood, to Admit to Killing Mother and Aunt

A Kansas man, drenched in blood, entered a pharmacy to confess to the fatal shootings of his mother and aunt, which he claimed were triggered by their plans to evict him from the home they all shared.

Luke Howard pleaded guilty on May 13 to two charges of second-degree intentional murder in connection with the deaths of his mother, Valerie Howard, and his aunt, Joyce Austin, according to court documents reviewed by Oxygen.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Howard is anticipated to receive a sentence totaling 65 years and 3 months.

Luke Howard Admitted to Killing His Relatives After Eviction Notice

On February 12, 2025, Luke walked into a Walgreens in Liberty, Missouri, his clothes stained with blood, and informed the store’s pharmacist that he needed to surrender to the authorities. This account is detailed in an affidavit sourced from The Kansas City Star.

Upon the arrival of law enforcement, Luke confessed to shooting his mother and aunt within their Lenexa, Kansas residence, motivated by their intent to evict him, as stated in the court records.

Police were sent to the home and discovered Valerie dead on the living room floor and Joyce lying on the couch, according to the affidavit also obtained by KCTV. Both women had been shot to death. Investigators found 10 to 12 shell casings scattered throughout the living room.

In the days leading up to the deadly shootings, police had been called to the home multiple times.

On Feb. 10, police responded to a call after Valerie said that her son had broken an ash tray in her bedroom and pushed her, causing her to fall down, per the court records. The 63-year-old said she and Joyce—identified as her former sister-in-law—locked themselves in their rooms because Luke had been violent in the past.

However, Luke told police that his mother grabbed him around the neck and pushed him, per the court records.

That same day, Joyce called 911 to report that Luke threatened her, according to the affidavit. She told police that her nephew suffered from bipolar disorder and was behaving erratically. The 71-year-old told authorities that she wanted him to leave her house.

The following day, Luke called police to report that he was being kicked out of the house, per the court records. Although he initially alleged that one of the women pointed a gun at him, he later revised his account saying that he believed the woman was going to get a gun.

Joyce told authorities that she had given Luke a 30-day eviction notice, per the affidavit. She told police she thought he owned two guns, but was not sure where he kept them. After Luke began to yell at her, Johnson County Mental Health was called to the scene.

Luke told officers that he didn’t have any weapons and a search of his room failed to reveal any firearms.

A spokesperson from the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office told Oxygen that Luke is expected to be formally sentenced for the murders on Aug. 24.
