Robert Irwin, Derek Hough, Witney Carson, and Jordan Chiles Join ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Alumni to Celebrate the Show’s Achievements

0

“Dancing with the Stars,” a powerhouse in the realm of unscripted television, continues to capture audiences’ hearts. The show’s 34th season finale, where Robert Irwin emerged victoriously, attracted the largest viewership in nearly ten years. Although the series has garnered several technical Emmy Awards over time, it has yet to claim the top honor of an Emmy for the show itself.

This past Sunday, the glitz and glamour of the show’s recent season converged at Hollywood’s Dolby Theater. Here, both professional dancers and celebrity participants gathered to showcase to Television Academy members and voters why they believe the show deserves the prestigious award.

Val Chmerkovskiy, a seasoned professional dancer on the show, shared his thoughts with On The Red Carpet, saying, “Creating this show is a massive team effort, from the crew to the grips and everyone involved. My passion lies with these individuals, the colleagues I’ve shared almost 20 seasons with. While personal recognition isn’t my goal, I hope our project, which brings joy to millions at home, receives its due acknowledgment.”

Echoing this sentiment, pro dancer Witney Carson expressed her deep connection to the show: “This show is everything to me and my fellow pros. It embodies our art, our passion, and our love. Being part of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has been a dream come true, and to be here now feels like I’ve come full circle. It’s an honor to continue dancing and doing what I love on a show that spreads so much joy, love, and positivity.”

At the “For Your Consideration” event, the “Dancing with the Stars” professionals dazzled attendees with their dance performances. Additionally, they participated in a Q&A session led by Ariana Madix, a former contestant on the show.

“With this incredible choreography, incredible storytelling, we could do something that was beyond the ballroom,” Robert Irwin told the audience. “‘Dancing with the Stars’ is about so much more than just dance. It’s about reaching through to all of you, creating something that resonates with you.”

“I have heard from so many celebrities that have been on this show, many of them in better shape than me, that they went through that exact same thing, that this is really a transformative experience,” fan favorite Andy Richter told the audience. “(It) cracks your heart open and gives you a sense of optimism.”

Jordan Chiles, who was paired with Ezra Sosa for season 34, said the experience helped her learn more about herself.

“I think I realized being on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ that it’s OK to show your expression in different ways and that’s how it was for me,” she explained to the audience. “I had somebody like Ezra who was there with me to guide me through each and every rehearsal and allow me to go through my emotions.”

“This show is one of one. It’s one of one. There will never be another show like it ever again,” pro-turned-judge Derek Hough said. “To see it sort of evolve, to see the popularity and love of the show continue to grow, it’s lightning in a bottle.”

Host Alfonso Ribeiro credits social media for the show’s resurgence and popularity.

“When I was a much younger man we used to talk about having, you know, the water cooler moments. And today we’re having that again except it’s on social media, not at the actual water cooler in offices and it feels incredible,” he said. “We’re really kinda at the forefront of being one of the shows on television that its social presence is really bigger than any show on television while simultaneously being the #1 unscripted shows on television.”

The franchise continues to expand. At the Hulu Get Real House, it announced a new show, “Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.” It’ll be hosted by current champ Robert Irwin and you can read more about it HERE.

And fans will get a chance to get up close in personal with their favorites from the franchise at “Dancing with the Stars” Con. The first-of-its-kind event will take place July 31-August 2 in Palm Springs, CA. Find more details about the event HERE.

Season 35 of “Dancing with the Stars” will premiere later this year on ABC. You can watch the most recent season on Disney+.

The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of this ABC station.

Diego Pavia Joins Ravens Minicamp Following Undrafted Status

0

Diego Pavia is seizing an unexpected opportunity.

The Heisman Trophy finalist, who surprisingly went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, has been invited to the Baltimore Ravens’ rookie minicamp despite his impressive collegiate career.

Remarkably, Pavia is the first Heisman finalist to go undrafted since Northern Illinois’ Jordan Lynch in 2014. Lynch received a similar invitation from the Chicago Bears but was released before the regular season, never making an official NFL appearance.

Standing at 5-foot-10, Pavia will join the Ravens’ rookie minicamp next weekend, according to a report by Adam Schefter.

Colorado head coach and NFL legend Deion Sanders offered words of encouragement to the intriguing 24-year-old, boosting his spirits ahead of this new chapter.

“I BELIEVE IN YOU MY MAN! Stay strong and don’t let up,” Sanders wrote on X, while tagging Pavia.

He added, “Show them what time it is and never allow them to forget. Much Love & God bless you. #PRIME.”

Pavia, known for his electric style of play, dual-threat ability, and brash persona, enjoyed a decorated college career, splitting time between New Mexico State and Vanderbilt.

At Vanderbilt, he rose to national prominence in 2025, posting an SEC-best 70.6 completion percentage, accompanied by league-best 29 passing touchdowns to eight interceptions.

He also carried the ball 167 times for 862 rushing yards and 10 TDs, and, most notably, led Vanderbilt to a win over then-No. 1 Alabama at home on October 5, 2024.

In that game, Pavia posted 252 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air, with an additional 20 carries for 56 yards on the ground.

At New Mexico State, he earned Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2023, putting up 2,673 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions, with 176 carries, 923 rushing yards and seven TDs on the ground.

In Baltimore, Pavia will have a chance to join a quarterback room that already includes multiple-time MVP Lamar Jackson, as well as long-time Ravens backup Tyler Huntley.

Arsenal’s Title Hopes Hinge on Solving the Declan Rice Dilemma: Arteta’s Key to Surpassing Man City

0

During the London Marathon weekend, Arsenal’s title bid seemed to move with the sluggishness of a charity runner hauling a refrigerator. The final stretch of this season is shaping up to be a tough grind.

Had Arsenal managed to secure just four additional points from recent matches against Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Wolves, or the loss to Bournemouth this month, their path might have resembled a smooth procession rather than a challenging crawl to the finish line.

The silver lining for Mikel Arteta is that only four league matches remain, not a daunting 14. It’s a manageable number that can be tackled with determination, effort, and perhaps a few hydration sachets, as his squad is clearly running low on energy.

Adding to their challenges is an upcoming Champions League semi-final clash against Atletico Madrid, a test of both mental and physical endurance against Diego Simeone’s formidable team. With such a hectic schedule, their domestic prospects seem increasingly uncertain. Although they lead the league standings, they don’t quite embody the image of impending champions.

Despite Sunday’s news headlines heralding their top position with phrases like ‘Eze Top,’ the atmosphere inside the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night was far from celebratory.

This, you suspect, is a crowd waiting for Arsenal to lose the title, not win it, a fatalism born of three straight second-placed finishes. A misplaced Martin Zubimendi pass in the second half carried a consequence beyond its mere inaccuracy, drawing a collective growl bordering on savage.

There was encouragement and noise when their team needed it – boy did they need it here – and on the whole those in the stands played their part. You always sense, however, that this fanbase is carrying the weight of expectation and anticipation just as much as their players. To lighten the load they sigh and gripe, especially when Zubimendi goes astray.

The Spaniard, though, was not the biggest concern in midfield. Declan Rice, alongside him, played tired. There was not the influence a title-chasing side needs from its best player in the centre of park. The game took place around him, not through him.

Thomas Tuchel was in attendance and he should be worried, especially given Rice has at least six more of these endurance trials to go before he reports for World Cup duty. By then, he could be reduced still further by the emotional and physical trauma of the coming weeks, irrespective of Arsenal’s fate. Eze was also forced off with a knock but should be OK for Madrid.

Noni Madeuke, another England international, played more confused than tired, unsure as to how his pace could get the better of Dan Burn, a 33-year-old centre back deputising at left back.

The winger looked as low on confidence as some of his team-mates did energy. Come the end, Newcastle had bettered Arsenal for shots, possession and XG, and this was their fifth defeat on the spin.

But for all of these issues Arteta must confront, the one that will unsettle him most is what happens at the top end of the pitch during this closing month. Kai Havertz is injured, again. Without the German, it’s back to Plan B, who they thought was Plan A, Viktor Gyokeres.

As one Premier League chief remarked to me last week, the Gyokeres we have seen at Arsenal is the same slightly clunky forward who top-flight clubs allowed to leave for Sporting Lisbon three years ago when he was under their noses at Coventry City.

The stat-padding of 97 goals from 102 games in Portugal meant that he returned as Arsenal’s £55million marquee signing last summer, but his battlefield promotion back into Arteta’s XI was never part of the manager’s masterplan for silver.

The loss of Kai Havertz will be really felt by Arsenal in the last month of the season

The loss of Kai Havertz will be really felt by Arsenal in the last month of the season

With 12 Premier League goals, three of them penalties, the Swede was supposed to see out the season as supporting cast, not leading man. The loss of Havertz will be felt.

But Arteta, to his credit, did not ask for sympathy or offer excuse on Saturday evening. He met questions as to his side’s labour with humour and a creativity absent on the pitch. He will know that this is no time to exhibit the same apprehension. He might not believe it, but he has to conduct himself with absolute conviction.

Because just like he said that any football man would know Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope should have been sent off for a foul on Gyokeres, any football man would also have left the Emirates believing they had seen this season’s runners-up, despite the victory.

And should Arsenal finish second, it would not be the failure some will have you believe. This is a 20-runner race, not two. They are getting closer, so close we are perhaps forgetting they could be six points clear by the time Manchester City next play.

This season is not done, as Rice said last week, but there is an inescapable sense that fridge-carrying Arsenal have run cold just as the race begins to burn.

Karoline Leavitt Addresses the WHCD Shooting Following Her ‘Shots Fired’ Remark

The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, has addressed the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, following her earlier remarks about potential “shots fired” at the function.

On Sunday, April 26, Leavitt, 28, shared her thoughts on Instagram regarding the previous night’s shooting incident. The event forced the evacuation of her, President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and various government officials from the Washington Hilton ballroom as gunfire erupted during the dinner.

“An evening intended for light-heartedness, with President Trump sharing jokes and honoring free speech, was disrupted by a deranged anti-Trump individual attempting an assassination and targeting key Trump administration figures,” Leavitt expressed in her post.

Shortly before the chaos unfolded at the event, Leavitt, who is expecting her second child with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, had commented on the red carpet to Fox News. She teased that Trump’s upcoming address would be “funny” and “entertaining,” hinting there “will be some shots fired tonight in the room.”

President Joe Biden and More Address Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting

Meanwhile, public figures and athletes are voicing their concerns following a shooting incident at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade. Confirmed by Kansas City police on Wednesday, February 14, one parade-goer lost their life while more than 10 others suffered serious injuries during the celebration of the Missouri football team’s recent victory.

Leavitt’s post, accompanied by a carousel of photos taken prior and during the dinner, and in the aftermath of the evacuation, continued, “I was with President Trump and the First Lady back stage after we were quickly ushered to safety by Secret Service. President Trump was truly fearless, but as he said last night, this political violence needs to end.”

The post, which captured Leavitt seated beside Vice President JD Vance in the White House Oval Office, concluded, “Thank you to law enforcement for keeping all of us safe, including the brave agent who took a bullet to the chest and immediately moved to neutralize the shooter. Pray for our country.”

Washington D.C. law enforcement officials confirmed that a 31-year-old man from California was apprehended as a result of the shooting incident on Saturday, April 25. He has been charged with two counts of using a firearm and one count of assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon. The suspect’s motives and condition remain unknown.

Mormon Wives’ Whitney Leavitt Breaks Silence After Taylor Frankie Paul Scandal: ‘So Fresh’

Whitney Leavitt is breaking her silence in the wake of fellow The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast member Taylor Frankie Paul’s most recent domestic dispute. “I have a lot of emotions about it and I’m still processing everything that’s happening, but the safety of human beings, especially children, comes first,” Whitney told Interview Magazine […]

A member of the Secret Service was shot during the incident, which took place near the venue’s “main magnetometer,” per information provided by the Secret Service. Trump later confirmed that the Secret Service agent was recovering in the hospital.

“The vest did its job. I just spoke to the officer and he’s doing great,” Trump told reporters in the event’s wake.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner served as a temporary farewell for Leavitt as she prepares to welcome her second child in the coming days. (Leavitt and Riccio, 60, are also parents to son Nico, born in July 2024.)

In the hours that followed the shooting, Leavitt personally confirmed via an X post that Trump had scheduled a press conference in the late hours of Saturday night. In her Instagram post, Leavitt included a photo from the press conference that showed her standing beside the lectern that Trump spoke from.

Hormuz Tensions Propel $24 Billion Iraq Trade Corridor, Redefining Gulf Shipping Routes

0

The escalating Strait of Hormuz situation is propelling countries to explore new trade routes from the Gulf to Europe. At the forefront is Iraq’s ambitious $24 billion “Development Road” initiative, as highlighted by analysts.

According to Muhanad Seloom, an analyst with the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, Iraq’s new trade path, stretching from the Grand Faw Port to Turkey and onwards to Europe, is progressing steadily. Seloom described it to Fox News Digital as a lasting and significant shift in response to wartime challenges.

Amidst these developments, President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Tehran regarding further provocations in the Gulf, emphasizing that the U.S. is ready to take action to ensure the strait remains navigable.

Iranian military forces have deployed mines and issued threats against commercial vessels in the strategic passage. As of Sunday, this vital shipping lane remains largely obstructed.

“Iraq’s Development Road means every container moving through Basra instead of Iranian-controlled waters is a reduction in Tehran’s leverage over Iraq,” said Seloom.

“The real scale, independent estimates put the Development Road closer to $24 billion, and the project is now moving with discipline,” he said.

Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani inaugurated the first 63-kilometer stretch of the Development Road in 2025. Phase 1 is due for completion by 2028.

“What was described by the Iraqi government as a flagship of Iraqi statecraft now has a regional rationale that governments and financiers treat as essential rather than aspirational,” Seloom, an assistant professor at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, explained.

“Sudani seems to be positioning Iraq exactly where he thinks its geography always suggested, as a connecting state between the Gulf, Turkey and Europe,” he said.

But other regional infrastructure, Seloom says, is also being pushed forward in parallel.

Saudi Arabia’s East-West Petroline pipeline is operating near its 7 million-barrel-per-day capacity, with expansion plans under review.

The UAE’s ADCOP pipeline to Fujairah is also at maximum use, with a second line under discussion, he said. “Turkey’s Zangezur and Middle Corridors bypass Iran via the Caucasus and are four to five years out.”

He added: “Six Gulf-backed overland fiber projects are also underway through Syria, Iraq and the Horn of Africa.”

Iran reimposed closure measures on the Strait of Hormuz on April 18, reducing traffic to just a handful of vessels per day compared with a pre-war average of roughly 130 to 140.

The restrictions, including on ships, have come under fire in recent days, and interceptions trace back to the start of the war on Feb. 28, when Tehran first moved to block transit following U.S.-Israeli strikes.

“Hormuz remains indispensable for energy, but it is no longer treated as a default. That shift is permanent given the war,” Seloom said.

For Iraq’s corridor, it is “potentially transformative,” Seloom said, with $4 billion per year in projected transit revenue and a repositioning from an oil rentier state to a logistics state.

“Turkey will be the single largest beneficiary. Combined with the Zangezur and Middle Corridors, Ankara becomes the overland bridge between Asia and Europe,” he said. “Europe will have an additional overland option on a 2028-plus timeline, but nothing for the current crisis. It marginally reduces structural dependence on the unreliable Suez–Red Sea axis.”

Unveiling Australia’s Unsung Heroes: The Battalion That Fought Without Citizenship

0

in brief

  • Over 800 Torres Strait Islander men enlisted in World War Two — about a fifth of the population.
  • Anzac Day in the Torres Strait reflects deep cultural pride and calls for wider recognition of a long-overlooked history.

In the remote reaches of northern Australia, the Anzac Day weekend serves as a poignant reminder of a proud heritage for local communities.

Among the Torres Strait Islands lies the birthplace of Australia’s only all-Indigenous military unit, a remarkable chapter in the nation’s history.

This unit, later recognized as the Torres Strait Light Infantry Battalion, was formed during the Second World War, when nearly every eligible man in the area stepped forward to serve.

Over 800 Torres Strait Islander men—representing one in five of the region’s population of around 4,000—volunteered to defend Australia’s northern front from Japanese forces during WWII.

This represents the highest enlistment rate per capita in the Commonwealth and marks the formation of the largest First Nations military unit in Australian history.

They signed up under profoundly unequal conditions.

They were not on the Commonwealth census, they didn’t have the right to vote, and were paid half the wage of other diggers.

On Saturday, the picturesque scenes on Waiben (Thursday Island) were the backdrop for a commemorative service that honoured that legacy.

‘Continuation of the warrior spirit’

An Anzac Day service held on Thursday Island’s Green Hill Fort — built in the late 1800s as part of Australia’s defence against a possible Russian invasion — is much more personal to the people of the Torres Strait Islands.

Some attendees wear warrior garments, which represent traditional warfare, known to have protected the surrounding sea country for thousands of years.

Warrant Officer and patrol master Troy Laza, who focuses on training and welfare for those currently serving in the Torres Strait, said the connection to wartime service is near-universal.

“There is a lot of pride — a lot of pride — because every single person can trace their family back to a serving member,” he said.

Laza points to something older still beneath that military history.

“The warrior spirit that lives in the Torres Strait has been here from times past and continues through to what we do now.”

Veteran and Wagadagam Tribal Elder, Gabriel Bani, said the Islands’ warrior and defence history is embedded into Anzac Day.

“The history of us as a people is that we come from a warrior race of people,” he said. “The protection of the region was an obligation that was carried out by each island community who were independent in their own right.”

“It’s an old nation that is accustomed or used to warfare and defence. For Anzac Day, we start looking at it in that context.”

A ‘forgotten’ story

Gabriel said the commemorative services on Thursday Island tell an often “forgotten” story.

“Without a voice, without equal pay or recognition — some made the ultimate sacrifice,” Elder Gabriel said.

Gabriel, who joined the army reserves in the 1980s, said the commemoration tells a story that remains poorly understood beyond the islands.

“It is very, very important not only for Torres Strait Islanders themselves but for the whole country,” he said. “But not many people know about our existence. We still bump into people today.”

He also takes the weekend to reflect on what he knows as the Frontier Wars: “They were wars that happened when we had contact with people coming in from the outside.”

Horn Island in the Torres Strait was the second most attacked location in Australia during the Second World War, behind Darwin.

Gabriel stresses all Anzac stories should be told in the “full context”.

“For young people, for school … so that people can see the truth, but people can also [have] genuine appreciation and understanding of a nation trying to form an identity now,” he said.

“I get emotional a lot … I cry a lot [at] Anzac Day ceremonies.”

Today, he continues his role as a tribal elder, cultural mentor and advisor, and wants the Torres Strait Islands’ wartime history to be a legacy known Australia-wide.

“To understand who they are, to know their story, I think that would be important,” he says.

“We say reconciliation, but I would rather say healing.”

Josh van Staden travelled to Thursday Island with support from the Pulitzer Center.

Trump Criticizes Reporter for Quoting Shooter’s Manifesto, Labels Act as ‘Disgraceful

0

In a heated exchange with CBS News anchor Norah O’Donnell, former President Donald Trump expressed his disapproval by calling her a ‘disgrace’ during a segment on 60 Minutes. The tension arose when O’Donnell read aloud from a manifesto penned by Cole Thomas Allen, which contained inflammatory accusations directed at Trump.

Allen, a 31-year-old man, had sent the explosive document to his family mere minutes before launching an attempted attack on the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. This event marked Trump’s first attendance at the dinner in over ten years, adding to the evening’s high profile.

During the interview, O’Donnell shared some of the manifesto’s most provocative statements, prompting a sharp rebuke from Trump. She noted Allen’s apparent motive, reading aloud: “Administrative officials, they are targets.” She continued with another line: “I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.” Then, she asked Trump for his reaction to such serious claims.

In response, Trump was quick to defend himself and criticize the media. “Well, I was waiting for you to read that, because I knew you would,” he retorted. “Because you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I am not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.”

Trump replied: ‘Well, I was waiting for you to read that, because I knew you would. Because you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I am not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody.’

O’Donnell attempted to interrupt Trump, asking: ‘Oh, do you think he was referring to you?’

‘Excuse me. Excuse me. I am not a pedophile,’ he quickly said, cutting the anchor off.

Trump then appeared to refer to what he felt was the connection Allen was attempting to make between himself and pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

In an interview with 60 Minutes Sunday, O’Donnell read some of the most inciting lines of Allen’s missive which Trump slammed

‘You read that crap from some sick person. I got associated with all stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated. Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, let’s say, Epstein or other things.’

Trump has never been charged with a crime in connection to Epstein, who the President has said he kicked out of his Mar-a-Lago club decades ago.

The President continued to go after O’Donnell and appeared to regret going on with the interview at all.

‘But I said to myself, you know, I’ll do this interview and they’ll probably — I read the manifesto. It was a sick person. But you should be ashamed of yourself reading that, because I’m not any of those things.’

O’Donnell continued to clarify that those were the gunman’s words but he was having none of it.

‘Excuse me. Excuse me. You shouldn’t be reading that on 60 minutes. You’re a disgrace. But go ahead, let’s finish the interview,’ he said.

O’Donnell had asked Trump if he may try to improve his relationship with a combative press in the wake of the shooting.

‘Look, for whatever reason, we disagree on a lot of subjects. We talked about crime, I am very strong on crime. It seems like the press isn’t,’ Trump said.

‘It’s not so much the press, but the press plus the Democrats. It’s almost like they are one and the same.’

Trump also told O’Donnell that he may have slowed the Secret Service’s response after shots were fired on Saturday night.

The President recounted how he ‘wanted to see what was happening.’

‘And I wasn’t going to make it that easy for them, I wanted to see what was going on,’ he said of the Secret Service.

But soon, he said, security ‘started to realize maybe it was a bad problem… different from [the] normal noise that you hear from a ballroom, which you hear all the time.

‘I was surrounded by great people and I probably made them act a little bit more sluggish,’ he continued. ‘I said, “Wait a minute, wait a minute, let me see.”‘

Trump said he then started walking with the agents out of the ballroom.

He said they were about halfway out when agents told him and First Lady Melania Trump to ‘Please go down to the floor, please go down to floor.’

‘So I dropped to the floor and the First Lady went down also,’ the president said.

Trump also called those who questioned the shooting ‘sick.’

‘I think they’re more sick than they are con people,’ he said. ‘But there are con people.’

He later denied that political violence is worse than it has been in previous generations – though he lambasted Democrats for their rhetoric.

‘You go back 20 years, 40 years, 100 years, 200 years, 500 years, it’s always been there, people are assassinated, people are injured, people are hurt,’ Trump told O’Donnell.

But he later accused Democrats of using inflammatory language.

‘I do think that the hate speech of the Democrats much more so is very dangerous,’ Trump said. ‘I really think it’s very dangerous for the country.’

He said the alleged shooter was ‘almost like a blur’ as he raced through the hotel hallway on Saturday night, joking that the ‘NFL should sign him up.’

‘But it was amazing because as soon as they [law enforcement] saw that, you could see them draw their guns. They were so professional, aimed their guns, and then they took him down immediately,’ Trump said.

Trump reiterated his calls for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to be rescheduled.

He said it would include ‘bigger security’ and ‘more perimeter security.’

‘I think it’s important that they do it again,’ Trump said of the dinner, adding that he does not want a ‘crazy person’ to succeed in cancelling it.

Allen, 31, sent the eerie anti-Trump writing to his family members just 10 minutes before he fired shots at the hotel in Washington, where the ritzy press gala was taking place on Saturday night.

The harrowing writing was given to the police by a relative, a US official said.

According to the New York Post, Allen’s manifesto read: ‘Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial.

‘I’m not a schoolkid blown up or a child starved or a teenage girl abused by the many criminals in this administration. Turning the other cheek when *someone else* is oppressed is not Christian behavior; it is complicity in the oppressor’s crimes.

‘In order to minimize casualties, I will also be using buckshot rather than slugs (less penetration through walls).

‘I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people *chose* to attend a speech by a pedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.’

His targets included ‘administration officials (not including [FBI Director Kash] Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest.’

Allen wrote, allegedly referencing the president: ‘I am no longer willing to permit a pedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes.’

Trump spoke out on Sunday morning, following the chaotic night at the dinner.

He told Fox that the shooter ‘had a lot of hatred in his heart’ and that religion was a reason why the gunman attacked.

The President said this morning: ‘He had a lot of hatred in his heart for quite a while.’

He added that the manifesto was ‘a religious thing. It was strongly anti-Christian.’

‘He’s got some big problems with the rest of his life, but it’s very, very bad, very bad situation,’ the President continued.

Allen, a teacher from Torrance, California, had a manifesto, and his siblings knew he had firearms and were worried about him.

On Saturday night, chilling surveillance footage captured the moment gun-wielding Allen stormed past security at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Allen was seen wearing all black as he sprinted inside the Washington Hilton hotel on Saturday evening with a gun in hand, video posted by President Trump on Truth Social showed.

Just moments before he ran, security guards were seen standing in the hallway, but as soon as he sped by, they immediately reacted and pulled out their firearms.

Police revealed the suspect had a number of weapons on him, including a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.

President Trump shared a stunning image shortly after the shooting, showing the suspect shirtless and lying face down on the carpet.

Law enforcement confirmed he was not struck by gunfire while being stopped, but has since been taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Allen was a guest at the Hilton hotel, where the event was taking place.

Surveillance video shows the suspect sprinting past a security checkpoint and attempting to reach the doors to the ballroom where the president was gathered, along with his most senior cabinet members and thousands of journalists.

Evidence found on Allen’s electronic devices and in his writings points towards the theory that he intended to target administration members in attendance at the dinner.

His family members told law enforcement that Allen had sent them some of his disturbing writings before the attack, which prompted one of them to alert police. The writings did not specifically mention the dinner on Saturday.

Another family member told investigators that Allen has made radical statements and that he frequently mentioned plans to do ‘something’ to fix problems with today’s world.

The family added that Allen would regularly visit a shooting range to train with his guns. A senior US official told CBS News that the suspected gunman was part of a group called The Wide Awakes and that he attended a No Kings protest in California.

Nonprofit Organization Steps Up Efforts to Locate Missing USF Doctoral Student

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — In a concerted effort to resolve the unsettling case of two deceased University of South Florida graduate students, a nonprofit search team has joined the mission to uncover the whereabouts of one student’s remains.

The group, known as ‘We Are the Essentials,’ has stepped up to aid the search for 27-year-old Nahida Bristy, who, along with fellow doctoral candidate Zamil Limon, vanished on April 16. Their disappearance and subsequent deaths have deeply affected the Tampa Bay area.

“We believe our involvement can make a difference by addressing areas that law enforcement might not have had the resources to cover,” explained Billy Lane, the nonprofit’s president.

Lane noted that volunteers are meticulously searching various sites across Hillsborough County, honing in on spots where evidence might have been missed.

“We’re scouring side roads and bridges,” he remarked. “We’re on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary—items, bags, anything that seems out of place.”

Authorities confirmed Friday afternoon that human remains discovered on the Howard Frankland Bridge were positively identified as Limon.

“I am heartbroken to announce the discovery of human remains discovered on the Howard Frankland Bridge earlier this morning. Those remains were positively identified to Zamil,” Hillsborough County Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer said.

Saturday morning, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reported 26-year-old Hisham Abugharbieh — Limon’s roommate who was arrested Friday in connection with the missing pair — was issued two additional charges in connection with the students’ deaths.

“We realized that this was going to be a recovery operation and not a rescue,” Lane said.

Lane said the bridge will be a key focus in the search for Bristy based on the potential movements of the accused.

“We believe that the suspect was moving from the south to the north, potentially back to the USF area,” Lane said. “There’s a great possibility that she was put in the water at the Howard Frankland Bridge, but law enforcement has not been able to make that recovery yet.”

Abugharbieh faced a judge Saturday morning and was ordered to remain in jail pending his next court date, which is Tuesday.

8 On Your Side asked the sheriff’s office what led to Abugharbieh’s new charges and were told, “To protect the integrity of the investigation, we will not comment further than what has been released. This remains an active criminal investigation.”

Achieve Elite Upper Body Strength: The Push-Up Challenge Beyond 50

0

How many push-ups can you nail after hitting the big 5-0? Let’s explore the elite standard.

Push-ups have stood the test of time for good reason. They offer an immediate, candid assessment of upper-body strength with no elaborate equipment required. Lower yourself down, push back up, and repeat. It’s a simple movement, yet it harmoniously combines strength, control, and coordination, making it a rare gem among exercises.

From a coaching perspective, push-ups are a reliable indicator of physical fitness. While a few reps can reveal your starting point, the complete picture emerges as you continue. Your chest, shoulders, and triceps must consistently generate force, your core must engage to maintain form, and your breathing needs to find a rhythm. This is where the real challenge begins. It shifts from being a single effort to demonstrating sustained endurance over time.

Executing a continuous set of push-ups ties all these elements together. Each rep is powered by your upper body, your core ensures stability, and your breathing dictates the pace. The total number of consecutive push-ups you can perform offers a clear snapshot of how well your strength and conditioning are balanced.

Running through a continuous set of push-ups pulls all of that together. Your upper body drives each rep, your core keeps everything aligned, and your breathing supports the pace. The number of reps you can complete without stopping gives a strong snapshot of how your strength and conditioning work together.

Why Push-Ups Build Real Upper-Body Strength

Push-ups train the chest, shoulders, and triceps in a way that directly carries over to real-world movement. You’re pressing your body away from the ground while keeping everything else stable. That means your core, hips, and legs stay engaged so your body moves as one piece.

This full-body tension is what makes push-ups so effective. Your hands stay planted, your shoulders stay stacked, and your torso holds a straight line from head to heels. That level of control builds strength that supports posture, joint stability, and everyday movement.

As the reps add up, the focus stays the same. Lower with control, press with intent, and keep your body aligned. Being able to maintain that rhythm from start to finish shows your upper body can continue producing while your core supports every rep.

How to Perform Continuous Push-Ups With Strong Form

A strong setup sets the tone for the entire set. When your position is dialed in from the start, each rep becomes more efficient and consistent.

How to Do It:

  1. Place your hands on the floor slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
  2. Extend your legs behind you so your body forms a straight line.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes to hold that position.
  4. Lower your chest toward the floor under control.
  5. Press through your hands to return to the starting position.
  6. Repeat each rep at a steady pace without stopping.

A quick note on movement standard: A strong rep reaches at least 90 degrees at the elbows while your body stays in a straight line. That’s the range that builds strength through the entire chest and shoulders. If you’re not there yet, that’s fine. Consistent practice will get you there over time. You can also modify the movement with incline push-ups or other variations to match your current level while building toward full-range reps.

Best Variations: Incline Push-Ups, Tempo Push-Ups, Decline Push-Ups, Close-Grip Push-Ups, Pause Push-Ups.

Push-Up Test After 50: What Your Rep Count Means

This test gives you a clear look at how your upper body handles repeated effort. Consistency is what makes your number meaningful. Each rep should follow the same path, with steady control and full range.

  • Under 5 reps: You’re building a strong foundation. Each set improves control, positioning, and strength through a full range.
  • 6 to 10 reps: This is a solid working range. Your upper body supports repeated effort with steady control and coordination.
  • 11 to 15 reps: You’re in strong territory. Your strength and endurance work together to maintain consistent, controlled reps as the set builds.
  • 15+ reps: This is elite. Your upper body continues producing, your core stays engaged, and your movement stays smooth from start to finish.

How to Build Push-Up Strength That Carries Over

Building better push-ups comes down to developing strength you can repeat while staying in control. This is where a lot of people make the biggest jump, not by chasing one long set, but by improving how each rep feels and looks. Strength builds faster when your body stays organized and each rep reinforces good movement. Over time, that consistency turns into more reps, better endurance, and stronger overall performance. The goal is to make each rep count and let the total build from there.

  • Practice push-ups regularly: A few focused sets a couple times per week builds steady progress.
  • Focus on full-body tension: Strong core and glute engagement support better reps and protect your positioning.
  • Train through a full range of motion: Working toward that 90-degree elbow position builds strength where it matters most.
  • Use modifications when needed: Incline push-ups or reduced volume help you stay consistent while building strength.
  • Build supporting strength: Presses, rows, and carries round out upper-body development.
  • Use shorter, quality sets: Multiple controlled sets help extend your total capacity.
  • Control your tempo: Slowing things down improves strength, stability, and coordination.
  • Stay consistent over time: Repeated exposure builds both strength and endurance in a way that lasts.

Breaking News: Indiana University District Shooting Leaves 9 Injured; Manhunt for Two Suspects Underway

0

An early Sunday morning gathering near Indiana University in Bloomington turned violent when two men reportedly opened fire, injuring nine people, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred around 12:25 a.m. along the 400 block of East Kirkwood Avenue, close to a Five Guys restaurant. Bloomington police were already present, overseeing a crowd of 2,000 to 3,000 people who had gathered following the annual “Little 500” cycling event, officials reported.

Police stated that the incident was triggered by a fight between two women, which rapidly escalated as several individuals brandished firearms.

“During the altercation, multiple people were seen drawing handguns, and it’s believed that two different individuals discharged their weapons,” Bloomington Police Chief Mike Diekhoff explained at a press briefing on Sunday. “As chaos ensued, everyone began fleeing the area, prompting officers to rush in and search for victims.”

Five victims were struck by gunfire or bullet fragments, while others were injured while fleeing the chaotic scene, suffering cuts and scrapes.

Those hit by gunfire or fragments included five women between the ages of 17 and 22, police said.

“All were treated and released except one who has been admitted and is in stable condition,” Diekhoff said. “At this time, we are reviewing cellphone footage and video footage from nearby businesses.”

Officials said none of the victims were Indiana University students, and the motive of the shooters remains unclear.

“The shooters were male,” Diekhoff noted.

He emphasized the shooting was not random, noting the gathering had been peaceful prior to the gunfire.

“At this time we will continue to investigate this and update on the status of the young woman who’s still in the hospital and update the investigative leads that we have as we move forward,” Diekhoff said.

Diekhoff said that authorities prepare extensively each year for the “Little 500,” which draws large crowds from across the country.

“What we need to do is we need to make sure that we get the message out that guns aren’t welcome, violence isn’t welcome but coming and having a good time is,” he said.

Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson condemned the violence, calling it “an incredibly sad day” for the community.

“We condemn gun violence unequivocally in any form and my thoughts are with those that were injured last night,” Thomson said.

The “Little 500” is considered the largest collegiate cycling race in the U.S., according to the Indiana University website.

The Bloomington Police Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
