Prosecutors Report: Jonathan Roldan Charged in Fatal Shooting of US Army Veteran Andrew Garay in Humboldt Park, Chicago

0

In Chicago, a man is accused of shooting his former partner’s boyfriend to death on the city’s Northwest Side in late January, according to prosecutors.

On Sunday afternoon, the family of 30-year-old Andrew Garay expressed relief outside the courtroom, thankful that someone is now facing charges for his murder.

“Our biggest fear was that no one would be held responsible for this crime. We are relieved that justice is being pursued,” stated Karjan Dambaugh, Garay’s cousin.

The accused individual is 35-year-old Jonathan Roldan, who was apprehended by police late last week regarding the January 23 shooting incident.

Garay, a veteran of the U.S. Army, had been in a relationship with Roldan’s ex-girlfriend for several years. Prior to this, she and Roldan were together for 17 years and share two children.

Prosecutors said witnesses identified Roldan as a suspect early in their investigation. They say a surveillance camera also captured him at the scene on the night of the murder.

Garay had just dropped his girlfriend off at her home in the Humboldt Park neighborhood and was waiting for her to go inside, prosecutors said. Roldan allegedly walked up from the gangway and fired one shot through the driver’s side window, hitting Garay in the forehead and killing him.

“He was assassinated. This wasn’t spur-of-the-moment. This was planned. It was clear from the beginning,” Dambaugh said.

Garay had a 7-year-old daughter. His family says his loss has been very difficult to deal with.

“I still struggled Daly with believing he’s gone. There are times I grabbed my phone with the instinct of calling him or sending him a quick text, and then, it hits us all over again,” Dambaugh said.

Roldan is charged with first-degree murder. The judge ordered him held in jail pending trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for next week.

Prevent Weight Regain Post-Ozempic: Science-Backed Meal Plan Unveiled

0

Currently, weight loss injections such as Ozempic and Wegovy are capturing global attention, with countless individuals relying on these medications to suppress appetite, diminish cravings, and achieve weight loss.

These treatments have been praised for their seemingly magical results. However, a frequently encountered downside emerges when usage is halted.

Many experience a rapid return of the lost weight. Oprah Winfrey is one notable figure who shared her experience of regaining 20 pounds and falling prey to persistent “food noise” upon pausing the medication.

However, this outcome is not inevitable.

Nutritionist Robbie Puddick from Second Nature suggests a scientifically validated approach to maintaining weight loss: a comprehensive seven-day meal plan designed to naturally stimulate the release of the GLP-1 hormone, emulating the drug’s effects.

‘Research shows that combining weight loss medication with a structured support program can help people not just lose significant weight but keep it off long term,’ Puddick told the Daily Mail.

‘Instead of strict dieting or calorie counting, we focus on behavioral science and building sustainable habits, and encouraging whole-food meals that naturally manage appetite and energy.’

In addition to the meal plan he has laid out for the Daily Mail, Puddick suggested drinking water and limiting caffeine after midday to support healthy sleep. If you start to feel hungry between meals, he recommended snacking on ‘protein-rich’ foods like hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cured meat, tinned fish, cheese or apple slices with nut butter.

Pope Leo XIV Embarks on Historic Journey to Africa: Uniting the Fastest-Growing Catholic Communities

0

Pope Leo XIV is set to begin a significant tour of Africa on Monday, marking his fourth international journey since assuming the papacy in 2025. This visit highlights Africa’s burgeoning role within the Catholic Church, as the continent experiences rapid growth in its Catholic population.

Though Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation and a country where many have suffered for their religious beliefs, is absent from the itinerary, the visit kicks off in Algeria, a predominantly Muslim nation.

Dubbed “A Pilgrim in Africa” by the Vatican, this tour will focus on key issues such as peace, migration, environmental stewardship, youth empowerment, and family dynamics. Throughout his journey, Pope Leo XIV is slated to deliver 25 speeches in French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish, the continent’s major languages.

Observers and religious leaders emphasize the profound significance of this visit. “The Holy Father is engaging with the African church as part of the global church community,” remarked Rev. Daniel Male, secretary of the Union of Augustinian Friars of Africa, in an interview with the Religion News Service. He noted that Pope Leo XIV is acknowledging the vitality and expansion of African churches while underscoring the church’s commitment to supporting the impoverished and marginalized.

The Catholic OSV News added the visit “highlights peace efforts, the works of mercy, and the Catholic Church’s vibrant presence on the continent.”

The National Catholic Register stated that in 1910 Africa was home to less than 1 million Catholics. The latest figures available for 2024 estimate there are now 288 million.

Commenting on his absence from Nigeria, Frans Cronje, African-based analyst at the Yorktown Foundation for Freedom, told Fox News Digital “Given Nigeria’s role as the epicenter of the terror threat faced by Africa’s Christians, it will be disappointing to many of them to learn that the pope has left that country off his Africa agenda. The country has become ground zero for the global Islamist terror threat.”

The pontiff must be invited to a country by the host government. Analysts say that the government of Nigeria may feel a papal visit may be too sensitive at this time. But the Nigerian government did not respond to requests for comment on this issue by Fox News Digital.

Details of the trip include:

Algeria: April 13 to April 15

The Vatican’s yearbook for 2025, the Annuario Pontificio, states Catholics number 8,740 out of a population of 46–48 million. The pope is believed to be coming to Algeria to visit the ancient city of Hippo, now called Annaba. The city was home to St. Augustine, the ‘doctor of the church.’ Pope Leo is the first pontiff to belong to the Augustinian Order.

He is also expected to emphasize interfaith dialogue with Islam when he visits the Great Mosque of Algiers. This is one of the biggest in the world, capable of accommodating up to 120,000 people.

The 2026 Open Doors World Watch List placed Algeria in the 20th position for Christian persecution. It said 47 churches of the Protestant Church of Algeria (EPA) have been closed by the authorities.

The Associated Press reported that Algerian authorities rejected a Vatican request for Leo to visit to Médéa to pray at the Tibhirine monastery, the place where seven French Trappist monks were kidnapped and killed May 21, 1996, by Islamic extremists during the country’s civil war.

Cameroon: April 15 to April 18

The Catholic EWTN organization reports that Catholics make up between 30% and 35% of the population of some 30 million.

The pope will preside over five public Masses and addresses in three cities. He will also meet with vulnerable children at the Ngul Zamba Orphanage in the capital city of Yaoundé.

Angola: April 18 to April 21

In the latest government census, some 56% of Angola’s population identified as being Catholic.

The most significant part of the pope’s visit to Angola is expected to be when he goes to the town of Muxima, where he will pray at a shrine to the Virgin Mary, known locally as “Mama Muxima”, or “mother of the heart.” This is said to be the spiritual home for many Angolans, drawing over two million pilgrims to visit it every year.

Equatorial Guinea: April 21 to April 23

The Vatican has stated that approximately 80% of the population of Equatorial Guinea are Catholic. Leo will hold several Masses and addresses, and will visit a new psychiatric hospital and a prison. The Jean Pierre Olie Psychiatric Hospital in Sampaka, Malabo, was only inaugurated in December and is the country’s first modern specialized mental health facility. It collaborates with France’s Hospital Saint-Anne in Paris.

In a potentially controversial move, the pope will also visit a prison in Bata notorious for reports of inmate torture and abuse.

The Vatican did not respond to Fox News Digital questions by press time.

Pregnant Woman Fatally Defends Herself from Abusive Partner During Post-Baby Shower Attack, Lawyer Says

0

Left: Keshia Golden (Chicago Police Department). Right: Chicago mother Keshia Golden at her baby shower hours before she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death (WBEZ).

Supporters and legal representatives of a Chicago woman are calling for the dismissal of charges against her after she fatally stabbed her boyfriend, allegedly in self-defense, during a violent altercation. The incident occurred while the woman, who was pregnant at the time, was being attacked following her baby shower.

Julie Koehler, attorney for Keshia Golden, spoke out at a recent rally, emphasizing that Golden acted to protect herself and her unborn child from harm. “She reached for a knife to defend herself against an attacker intent on endangering both her and her child’s lives,” Koehler asserted, as reported by local ABC affiliate WLS.

The incident involved Calvin Sidney, the father of Golden’s child, who allegedly assaulted Golden by pulling her hair and slamming her head against a kitchen counter. This violent encounter reportedly escalated into another room, leading Golden to grab a knife and stab Sidney in the leg, according to Koehler’s account of the 2022 event.

Prosecutors have a different narrative, suggesting the conflict began with an argument over the use of a microwave. They claim Golden knocked a plate of food from Sidney’s hands, prompting him to push her against the counter.

Golden is accused of retreating to a bedroom with the knife, where Sidney followed her. Prosecutors allege that she stabbed him while he was on the bed, with the knife severing his femoral artery, resulting in his death from the injury.

Supporters showed up to the Golden rally last week with signs saying “Free Keshia” and “Survived + Punished: We stand with Keshia Golden” as she faces a first-degree murder charge in Cook County for the slaying.

Prosecutors say they offered Golden a deal to resolve the case, which included a plea to a reduced charge of second-degree murder with no additional time served. But she reportedly turned it down.

“That would be two years probation, but I mean, she checks in every day with pretrial already,” said Sierra Bartlett, with the Cook County Public Defender’s Office.

“She’s been doing that for three years. She’s proved that she is an upstanding citizen, and she doesn’t deserve any of this,” Bartlett told reporters. “I hope that Eileen O’Neill Burke [Cook County state’s attorney] does the right thing, because this is telling the women of Cook County that if you are in a violent relationship and you try to defend yourself, you could be facing first-degree murder charges.”

Court documents show that there were at least five police reports made of domestic violence involving Golden and her boyfriend, according to local NBC affiliate WMAQ. Four of the incidents involved allegations of physical violence, including choking, slapping, pushing and punching, WMAQ reports.

“Justice is not ignoring a woman cries for help until it’s too late and then condemning her for surviving,” said Dyanna Winchester, with the Women’s Justice Institute, at the rally last Monday.

“He choked her while she was 18 weeks pregnant,” Bartlett added. “So there’s lots of documentation, and I wish there had been more intervention at those earlier stages.”

Golden’s trial is expected to start over the summer.

Recent Masters Tournament Demonstrates Golf’s Resilience in Tiger Woods’ Absence

0
While waiting for Rory McIlroy to commence his final round on Sunday afternoon, a number of discussions were taking place concurrently.

Would he pull it off, or were we about to witness a familiar stumble? The questions swirled around Cameron Young’s performance, while Shane Lowry’s hole-in-one on Friday had onlookers wondering if he celebrated with a round of drinks for everyone at the clubhouse.

The conversation continued with musings about age and maturity. At 45, would Justin Rose finally start acting his age? And at 46, would Sergio Garcia do the same? Garcia’s frustration was evident when he smashed his driver against a cooler on the second tee, providing a clear answer to the latter question.

These topics served as the backdrop in the waning hours of a tournament that had delivered excitement across three rounds, particularly on Saturday when McIlroy surrendered what had been an impressive 36-hole lead.

Amidst all the chatter and shifting attention, one name was notably absent from the discussion: Tiger Woods. And, it seemed, few were concerned about his absence.

From the moment people arrived on Monday, and sporadically throughout the week until Thursday, the specter of Woods and his recent driving incident lingered. Whether in the walnut-paneled press auditorium or the bustling mixed zones, opinions were sought from all corners.

The tournament was held this year against a backdrop of yet another Tiger Woods scandal

The tournament was held this year against a backdrop of yet another Tiger Woods scandal

One Augusta Fred, the club chairman Fred Ridley, spoke briefly of ‘fully supporting’ Woods’s decision to focus on his health and well-being, and another, the 1992 champion Fred Couples, was far more effusive.

He described the dance of maintaining Woods’s affections, and the need to not pry into his various dramas when they have their sporadic text exchanges.

But Couples wanted the wounded cat to know he was loved. And he went further on the subject of living in pain, when he brought up the late basketball player Bill Walton. ‘He wanted to commit suicide,’ Couples said of Watkin. ‘Pain is a rough thing.’

That was one side of the Woods conversation in those early parts of the week. The other was a different instinct and maybe Jason Day articulated it best: ‘The only thing that I don’t understand is that it’s a little bit selfish of him to drive and put other people in harm’s way.’

The point of raising all of this again now is simple. Because once the golf started, the talking about Woods stopped. High as this sport has risen on his tide, it was never only about him. The biggest, yes. But bigger? No.

And this week at the Masters has proven as much, with its many dramas a perfect riposte to those who believe golf without Woods is beyond comprehension.

Ironically, the folk who might struggle most with that notion are the ones running the sport. Sympathy for Woods’s ailments is natural, but somewhere in the clawing for his approval it has repeatedly been lost on the likes of the PGA Tour that he has repeatedly endangered lives by getting behind the wheel.

Woods’s reliance on medications clearly isn’t the only dependency issue at play here.

But this 90th edition of the Masters, just like the 89th and so on, has proven that great sport can loosen shackles to the past.

For two days McIlroy was a free-swinging, devil-may-care colossus; on the third he was a punchline. Box office and the shadow of a 15-time major-winning great was nowhere in sight.

Ditto when we have occasion to mention Haotong Li, whose wedges carry the inscription: ‘Most handsome man in China.’

He has been giving daily updates here on his battle against a stomach upset, with the weary lament that he had been ‘living in the toilet’. Other parts of his life in the past few days have been spent near the very top of the leaderboard.

‘Who would care if he won?’ asked one colleague, before answering his own question: ‘Well, other than the entirety of China.’

Scottie Scheffler’s mood swings have also been subtly fascinating after two months without a win, but his resurgence on Saturday was merely a subplot.

The charge of Cam Young and the ravages of Amen Corner were better. So too the staying power of Justin Rose and the ever-growing collection of holes in one by Shane Lowry.

None of which would hold much of a candle to Woods at his peak. But he is 50 now, years removed from being a competitive factor, and sport has previous for finding new narratives. For progressing. For moving on. Moving Day at the Masters was as good a day as any for showing it isn’t such a terrifying thought.

Atlanta Teen Charged with Murder Following Fatal Shooting of 12-Year-Old in Residence

0

A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody on Sunday, facing charges of murder related to the tragic shooting of a 12-year-old boy within a home in southeast Atlanta.

The Atlanta Police Department (APD) revealed that homicide detectives secured an arrest warrant for the young suspect over the weekend. The arrest was conducted without any complications, and the teenager is now being held at the Metro Youth Detention Center.

“Ensuring the safety of young people is our top priority,” emphasized APD Captain Germain Dearlove in a conversation with Fox 5 Atlanta. He stressed the importance of securing firearms in homes to prevent access by children and teenagers.

He advised, “Parents and guardians need to be vigilant. Make sure that firearms are stored safely. If your children have friends over, keep an eye on them, and regularly check in on what’s happening.”

Atlanta Police vehicles are parked in a neighborhood behind yellow tape.

The investigation into the fatal shooting of the 12-year-old continues, with the arrest of the 14-year-old being a significant development in the case.

The shooting happened Saturday, when officers were dispatched around 1:49 p.m. ET to a report of a person shot at the residence.

When officers arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but later died despite life-saving efforts, police said.

Investigators said the shooting took place inside the home. Police have not publicly said what led to the gunfire, and the names of the juveniles have not been released.

“This neighborhood is pretty peaceful most of the time,” longtime neighbor Michael Dennis told Fox 5. “Every now and then we may hear something. I encourage family: Stick together, love one another, hug one another. This is a space in life where everybody needs to just come together.”

Police told local WSB-TV 2 that the boys were playing with guns in a bedroom when the 12-year-old was shot.

Earlier in the week, another neighbor, asking not to be identified, told channel 2 that he called police when he saw young boys getting into shootouts.

“Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, around the same time, kids would come by my house, duck behind the church and just shoot,” the neighbor said.

“I was concerned for my safety.”

Police tape and investigators are seen in front of a house.

Police are seeking cooperation from local homeowners in the investigation. (WAGA)

In its initial account, the police department said detectives were questioning the juvenile and adults who were inside the residence at the time of the shooting.

“We need the partnership and cooperation of homeowners,” Dearlove told Fox 5. “We’re going to get the full story, and then we will make our full report on it.”

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Atlanta police cautioned that the information released so far is preliminary and could change as the investigation develops.

Revitalize Leg Strength After 50 with These 5 Effective Chair Exercises

0

According to a seasoned strength coach, these five chair exercises can effectively rebuild leg muscles for those over 50, outperforming traditional squats.

Squats are often heralded as the go-to exercise for leg strength, but they might not be the ideal choice as we age past 50. If you experience knee stiffness, limited hip mobility, or discomfort with barbell squats, pushing through these issues may hinder rather than help your fitness journey. Instead, focusing on strength-building techniques that accommodate your current physical condition is more beneficial. This is where chair-based exercises come into play.

Using a chair for support offers stability, allowing you to concentrate on engaging the right muscles effectively. This approach removes the struggle of maintaining balance with heavy weights, enabling your muscles to function properly without overcompensating. Based on my coaching experience, this method often leads to rapid strength recovery. By eliminating the need to manage heavy loads, your muscles can operate optimally.

If your aim is to regain leg strength and boost your mobility, you should choose exercises that enhance strength through controlled movements while minimizing joint strain. Chair exercises fit this criteria perfectly. The five exercises outlined below target the quads, hamstrings, and hips from various angles, helping you establish better movement patterns. Let’s delve into these exercises.

If your goal is to restore leg muscle and move with more confidence, you want exercises that build strength through controlled ranges of motion while keeping stress on your joints manageable. Chair-based movements make that possible. The five exercises below target your quads, hamstrings, and hips from multiple angles while reinforcing better movement patterns. Let’s get into it.

Seated Band Leg Curl

Your hamstrings play a major role in supporting your knees and hips, yet they’re often undertrained in traditional routines. The seated band leg curl lets you target them directly while staying supported. The band provides constant tension, helping you feel the muscle working throughout the entire movement. You’ll also improve how your hamstrings contract and control your lower leg. Over time, this builds strength that carries over into walking, climbing stairs, and everyday movement.

Muscles Trained: Hamstrings and calves

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall on a chair with a resistance band anchored in front of you.
  2. Loop the band around one ankle.
  3. Extend your leg slightly forward.
  4. Pull your heel back toward the chair.
  5. Squeeze your hamstring at the end of the movement.
  6. Return to the starting position with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps per leg. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Double-leg curl, slow tempo curl, pause curl

Form Tip: Keep your upper leg still and focus on moving only at the knee.

Seated Band Abduction

Strong hips are essential for stable, powerful movement, and abduction targets the muscles that often get neglected. This exercise strengthens the outer hips, which help control your knees and improve balance. The band increases tension as you push outward, making each rep more effective. You’ll feel your glutes working immediately. Building strength here supports better movement and reduces unnecessary strain on your joints.

Muscles Trained: Glute medius, glute minimus, and hips

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall with a resistance band looped around your thighs.
  2. Place your feet flat on the floor.
  3. Push your knees outward against the band.
  4. Hold briefly at the widest position.
  5. Return to the starting position with control.
  6. Repeat with steady movement.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Pulse abduction, hold and release, staggered stance abduction

Form Tip: Keep your feet planted and avoid rocking your torso.

Seated Adduction Squeeze

Your inner thighs play a key role in stabilizing your hips and supporting lower-body movement. The adduction squeeze targets these muscles directly, which helps create better balance across your legs. Using a ball or a pillow keeps constant tension on the muscles. This improves strength and coordination while reinforcing proper alignment. It’s a simple movement that fills a major gap in most training routines.

Muscles Trained: Adductors and inner thighs

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall with a ball or pillow between your knees.
  2. Place your feet flat on the floor.
  3. Squeeze your knees together firmly.
  4. Hold the squeeze briefly.
  5. Release slightly while maintaining tension.
  6. Repeat with controlled movement.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Isometric hold, pulse squeeze, alternating squeeze

Form Tip: Stay tall and avoid leaning forward while squeezing.

Sit-to-Stand

This is one of the most functional ways to build leg strength because it mimics a movement you perform every day. It targets your quads and glutes while reinforcing proper mechanics. Using a chair allows you to control depth and maintain good positioning. You’ll build strength without unnecessary strain on your joints. Over time, this improves both strength and confidence in your movement.

Muscles Trained: Quads, glutes, and hamstrings

How to Do It:

  1. Sit on the edge of a chair with your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Position your feet slightly under your knees.
  3. Lean your torso slightly forward.
  4. Drive through your feet to stand up.
  5. Stand tall at the top.
  6. Lower yourself back down with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 reps. Rest for 60 to 90 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Tempo sit-to-stand, elevated seat, single-leg sit-to-stand

Form Tip: Drive through your heels and keep your knees tracking forward.

Seated Leg Extension

The leg extension targets your quads directly, helping rebuild strength around your knees. This is especially useful if squats feel uncomfortable or limited. By working in a seated position, you can focus on muscle contraction without worrying about balance. It also improves knee control and joint stability. Over time, this helps restore strength and function in your lower body.

Muscles Trained: Quads

How to Do It:

  1. Sit tall with your feet flat on the floor.
  2. Extend one leg straight out in front of you.
  3. Lift until your leg is fully straight.
  4. Hold briefly at the top.
  5. Lower your leg back down with control.
  6. Alternate legs with each rep.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps per leg. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Band-resisted extension, pause extension, alternating extension

Form Tip: Control the movement and avoid swinging your leg.

The Best Tips for Restoring Leg Muscle After 50

Restoring leg muscle after 50 comes down to training with intention and consistency. You don’t need to rely on heavy barbell movements to build strength. In many cases, breaking things down into more controlled, supported exercises allows your muscles to work more effectively. Chair-based training gives you the opportunity to rebuild strength while improving how your joints feel and move. Over time, this approach leads to stronger, more capable legs that support everything you do.

Here’s how to get the most out of your training:

  • Train each muscle group directly: Target your quads, hamstrings, and hips with focused exercises.
  • Use controlled reps: Slower movements increase muscle engagement and reduce joint stress.
  • Stay consistent: Aim for 2 to 3 sessions per week to build strength over time.
  • Progress gradually: Increase resistance or reps as your strength improves.
  • Focus on posture: Sit tall and maintain good positioning during each movement.
  • Pair with daily movement: Walking and light activity support overall strength and mobility.

Stick with these strategies, and you’ll rebuild leg strength in a way that feels strong, stable, and sustainable.

35-Year-Old Chooses Personal Values Over Social Pressure Amid Online Criticism

0

She’s prioritizing her own path.

In 2026, navigating the digital dating scene is no easy feat, yet one 35-year-old woman is resolutely maintaining her standards, particularly when it comes to preserving her virginity.

Lauren Harkins, who has never been in a romantic relationship or shared an intimate moment with someone, also hasn’t experienced a traditional date.

However, this hasn’t deterred the content creator. She staunchly defends her lifestyle choices, identifying herself as a “late bloomer” and asserting that remaining a virgin as an adult is more prevalent than commonly realized.

Lauren Harkins, a blonde woman with blue eyes, stares directly at the camera while wearing a black puffy coat.
Lauren Hirkins says many don’t believe her when she says she’s never had sex, claiming she’s a “liar.” Jam Press

“There’s no need to label it as ‘late’—people should progress at their own pace. Everyone follows their own unique timeline,” Harkins, who frequently shares her journey on social media, explained to creatorzine.com.

“It’s something I’ve been comfortable sharing, and I see being set apart as a strength,” she said.

Harkins admits that a stigma around being a virgin still exists. The content creator points out that society still “clings to these outdated assumptions around virginity – especially adult virginity – as if it automatically signals something fragile, sheltered, or socially stunted.”

Although many adult virgins don’t openly talk about it, based on the volume of comments and messages I receive, it’s clear there are far more people in that position than most would expect,” she admitted.

Contrary to what most would assume, Harkins isn’t saving herself for marriage or for religious reasons. “There is nothing I love more than being able to shatter these stereotypes, as someone who is continually told I don’t ‘look’ or ‘act’ like a virgin,” she said.

Harkins explained that judgey people usually “claim that I’m lying, ‘expired,’ attention-seeking, narcissistic, you name it.” And at this point, the 35-year-old insists none of it fazes her.

Despite it all, Harkins is hopeful that she will find her happily ever after one day, but isn’t in a rush. “I don’t feel the need to force anything; I’d rather wait for the relationship – and the man – that feels genuinely meant for me.”

To further validate her decision, Harkins said that she found comfort in the fact that singer Lizzo recently admitted to losing her virginity in 2020 after promising herself she wouldn’t have sex until she won a Grammy award.

The 37-year-old singer admitted to originally lying about it, implying she already had sex — but when Harkins learned this, she was relieved. “It’s refreshing when someone is honest about something that’s usually kept hidden,” she said.

“What stood out most to me wasn’t the timeline, but the fact that she made a personal decision and stood by it,” she added.

Probation Violator Arrested Near UF Campus: A Deep Dive into the Warrant Chronicles

0

By Staff

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Caleb James Martin, 20, who had been evading law enforcement since May due to a probation violation and faced additional warrants for domestic battery and stalking issued in March, was apprehended last night in a neighborhood near the University of Florida campus.

Late in the evening, around 11:53 p.m. on April 10, officers from the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) were called to the 1400 block of West University Avenue. They came to assist colleagues from the University of Florida Police Department (UFPD) and the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) after Martin reportedly fled from a UFPD officer and entered a nearby residential area.

A UFPD officer eventually located and detained Martin, with GPD officers proceeding to formally arrest him. During the arrest, a search reportedly uncovered a bag containing approximately 3.2 grams of fentanyl.

In April 2025, Martin pleaded nolo contendere to charges of possessing a firearm as an adjudicated delinquent and resisting an officer without violence. Judge James Colaw opted to withhold a formal adjudication of guilt, instead sentencing Martin to one year of community control (house arrest), followed by two years of probation.

One month later, on May 11, 2025, he allegedly fled from a traffic stop, crashed the car, and then fled on foot. A sworn complaint was filed, but no warrant has been issued, and Martin has not been booked on the charges from that incident.

However, Martin was instructed to report to the community control officer at least once a week, and on May 13, 2025, he failed to report; a violation affidavit was filed, alleging that he had moved from the address he gave the community control officer, committed new criminal offenses, failed to report, and was not at his residence when an officer checked on him on May 14. A warrant for his arrest was issued on May 20, 2025.

On February 19, 2026, Martin allegedly punched his girlfriend and choked her until she was unconscious, preventing her from talking to deputies who arrived in response to her 911 call, which was abruptly ended. The same victim told an ASO deputy on March 15 that Martin was stalking her and had threatened to kill her, and the deputy reported that Martin called the victim multiple times from a blocked number while he was taking the victim’s report. Warrants for both of those incidents were issued on March 16.

Martin has been charged with violating probation, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, hindering communication with law enforcement, aggravated stalking, possession of fentanyl, and resisting an officer without violence. Judge David Kreider ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
