PITTSBURGH — Onlookers at Friday night’s game witnessed an electrifying moment courtesy of David Bailey, echoing what the Jets have anticipated all summer.

Early in the game, during the Steelers’ second possession, Jets newcomer David Bailey demonstrated his prowess. He expertly slipped past Steelers tackle Broderick Jones and brought down quarterback Will Howard, causing an 11-yard loss on a crucial third down.

“To me, it felt incredible,” Bailey shared with The Post following the Jets’ 17-0 triumph over the Steelers in the preseason. “It was a huge weight off my shoulders. Knowing my fellow line players and the coverage did their roles impeccably made it possible for me to capitalize on the opportunity.”

This was the kind of impactful performance the Jets had been eagerly awaiting from Bailey, especially after his understated showing in the game against the Buccaneers during the team’s preseason debut.

Selected as the No. 2 overall draft pick in April, the former Texas Tech sensation Bailey has been meeting expectations throughout training camp. Known for unsettling his own team’s offensive line, he also left a mark during joint practices with Tampa Bay. With rising hopes surrounding him, Bailey demonstrated yet again on Friday why he is one to watch this season.

“It was good to see that,” Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said. “Obviously, we know what he can do as far as a pass rusher. I already see in my head that there’s a couple of things that he has to improve on that showed up in the game and he will.”

In all, Bailey played 12 snaps and had two quarterback pressures and the one sack. It continues a strong summer for Bailey.

“I feel like camp has been pretty good,” Bailey said. “I’ve been trying to soak in everything while just trying to get better. It’s been a great experience.”

The Jets interception drought is not officially over but they at least showed promise of it ending sometime soon.

They came up with two interceptions of Steelers QB Will Howard on Friday night. Safety Andre Cisco secured the first pick, ending a Steelers drive at the Jets’ 14-yard line. CB Sam Womack picked off Howard just before halftime to give the Jets another one.

The Jets set an NFL record in 2025 with zero interceptions, an incredible mark. Jets defenders repeatedly have said that they are focused on ending that streak.

“We were celebrating for our guys,” cornerback Brandon Stephens said. “It was good to see. We went a whole year without seeing it. Just to get that feeling back of getting an interception, two of them, it was big time.”

The kicking competition continues.

Cade York attempted a 59-yard field goal at the end of the first half and missed wide right.

Jason Sanders made a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give the Jets a 10-0 lead.

Nestled in the rugged mountains of eastern Turkey, a peculiar geological structure resembling a ship has sparked intrigue for years, often dismissed as a mere rock formation.

However, an international team is investigating the Durupınar Formation located near Mount Ararat, suggesting it might house what remains of the legendary Noah’s Ark.

The Bible tells of a colossal ark that safeguarded Noah, his kin, and every animal species from a cataclysmic deluge, with some biblical timelines placing the event over 4,300 years in the past.

Recently, a cutting-edge radar analysis has revealed intriguing subsurface anomalies and distinct stratification within the 515-foot-long site, casting doubt on the view that it’s solely a solid rock mass.

Helmed by Dr. Khosrow Bakhtar, this exploration employed BakhtarRadar, an advanced imaging technology born from US Air Force research, enabling deeper examination of the terrain compared to past surveys.

Noah’s Ark Scans founder Andrew Jones, who is part of the research team, said the deeper readings processed so far had yet to reveal a clear boundary between the formation and the underlying bedrock.

The team is still analyzing the data and will use the results to select locations for core drilling that could establish what lies beneath the formation.

‘We believe the Durupınar Formation is the remains of Noah’s Ark, and that is exactly why we want to put it through the strongest scientific testing we can,’ Jones said.

However, the researchers acknowledged that the results are preliminary and that radar anomalies alone do not prove the formation has an archaeological origin.

Bakhtar shared: ‘My team and I are carefully evaluating the collected subsurface data, which aids in planning the core drilling pattern to be performed at the site. 

‘We will use BakhtarRadar’s unique capability to directly distinguish any still preserved petrified, man-worked timbers from the natural host formation and its varying mineralogy.’

The team expects to release a preliminary technical report in the coming weeks identifying the strongest anomalies, providing a clearer view of the underlying geology and determining the best locations for targeted core drilling. 

The samples would allow researchers to test the radar findings against physical evidence from inside the formation. 

Located just 18 miles south of Mount Ararat, Turkey’s highest peak, the Durupinar Formation has only been known to the modern world for less than a century.

According to local reports, heavy rains and earthquakes in May 1948 washed away the surrounding mud, revealing the mysterious formation. It was then discovered by a Kurdish shepherd.

The Bible states that Noah’s Ark came to rest on the ‘mountains of Ararat’ after a 150-day flood that drowned the Earth and every living creature not sheltered inside the wooden vessel.

What is intriguing is that the formation sits near a mountain with a peak that some believe matches the ark’s shape and dimensions. 

According to biblical measurements, the ark was ‘300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide, and 30 cubits high,’ roughly 515 feet long, 86 feet wide and 52 feet tall.

The idea that the ark landed on Mount Ararat has long sparked debate.

While many scientists argue that the formation is a naturally occurring geological feature, others are convinced it points to something far more extraordinary.

The team at Noah’s Ark Scans firmly believes the latter.

Jones has been investigating the site since 2016, using ground-penetrating radar to see deeper underground, finding what he believes is a network of ‘corridors’ converging on a hollow central chamber he dubbed the atrium.

He linked the discovery to the Bible’s description of the Ark, which states the boat contained three internal levels built to shelter Noah, his family and pairs of animals.

‘God told Noah to bring the animals in. And so these animals would have stayed there, plus Noah and his family,’ Jones told GB News.

‘What’s interesting is that these voids are lining up below the ground – and they’re not just random. These tunnels also follow a pattern. GPR is just a way to look below the soil using radar.’

He added that further studies using infrared thermography (IRT), a heat-sensing technology that can uncover hidden structures underground, have also suggested the presence of a ship-shaped hull buried deep in the soil.

Jones told GB News that he and his team collected 88 samples from inside and outside of the ship in 2024.

Soil testing in the area showed extremely high levels of potassium, consistent with massive amounts of decomposed lumber.

‘However, due to the extremely cold climate, many parts of the Ark are still intact and petrified. It spends almost six months out of the year completely frozen,’ Noah’s Ark Scans explained in an X post.

In 2024, Jones revealed that he and his team uncovered angular structures as deep as 20 feet beneath the surface, features that could represent rooms below a deck-like platform.

In Genesis 6:14, the Bible describes the ark: ‘Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.’

‘This is not what you’d expect to see if the site were simply a solid block of rock or the result of random mudflow debris,’ Jones told The Christian Broadcasting Network.

‘But it is exactly what you’d expect to find if this were a man-made boat, consistent with the biblical specifications of Noah’s Ark.’

The team has also performed soil testing, uncovering what Jones described as ‘some interesting things.’

‘We noticed that the grass growing within the boat-shaped formation is a different color compared to the area just outside it,’ Jones said, suggesting this could point to a man-made origin rather than a natural one.

William Crabtree, another member of Noah’s Ark Scans, added that a tunnel appears to run from the tip of the formation toward the middle, and it is large enough to walk through.

‘The ultimate goal is not just soil test, which is great, or GPR scans, but to get inside the ship somehow,’ Jones told Patterns of Evidence.

‘Core drilling, getting samples deep inside of it to where we see the substructure, these voids, put a camera in it. This is an opportunity coming up that possibly will allow us to do that next season.

‘Whatever happens, whenever God opens doors, we will continue working on the site.’

In a move causing ripples across the nation, Portugal’s leader António José Seguro has implemented a new law that significantly restricts wearing face coverings in public spaces. This legislation, widely interpreted as targeting Muslim women, coincides with the recent approval by lawmakers. For further insight, refer to AFP.

Interestingly, the law doesn’t apply across the board. It acknowledges exceptions, allowing face coverings for specific reasons, such as health issues, professional needs, artistic expressions, and weather conditions. The restrictions also lift in places of worship, diplomatic sites, and during air travel.

Violations of this newly instated rule could come with a hefty price tag, ranging from 150 euros to a steep 3,000 euros, translating to approximately $175 to $3,500 in USD.

Locally dubbed the “burqa law,” this measure officially surfaced in Portugal last month, following its legislative passage. As mentioned by AFP, it specifically relates to the full-body and face veils worn by some Muslim women, sparking significant discussion and debate.

The law bans sporting coverings meant to hide a person’s face or block identification in public areas and bans requiring someone to cloak their face due to gender, religion, age or origin, the report states.

“For the president of the republic, the uncovered face constitutes a structuring dimension of social trust, a characteristic of Portuguese society,” according to an English translation of a Portuguese-language press release.

“Social integration, non-discrimination based on gender and the security resulting from similar decisions by the European Court of Human Rights underpin this decision. The president of the republic shares this court’s conviction that the face is central to human identity and communication, serving as a minimum element for mutual recognition among fellow citizens.

“And to admit that women, and only women, must hide their entire faces implies an asymmetry incompatible with the values ​​of parity and equal dignity between men and women, values ​​that shape European democracies,” the release added.

Consider avoiding alfalfa sprouts for the time being.

On Friday, the CDC released a safety alert connecting outbreaks of E. coli and Salmonella to alfalfa sprouts, with more than 55 cases of illness reported across the country.

In New York, two individuals have reportedly become ill, as noted by the CDC.

Although no fatalities have occurred, the outbreaks have led to the hospitalization of four individuals.

Investigations have identified Everything Sprouts and Calco as suppliers linked to these outbreaks.

Officials recommend throwing away any alfalfa sprouts in your refrigerator and washing any items or surfaces that the vegetable may have contaminated with hot, soapy water.

Businesses have been instructed to not sell or serve affected alfalfa sprouts. 

Early warning signs of E. coli and Salmonella infection include diarrhea and a fever higher than 102 Fahrenheit, diarrhea for more than two days that does not improve, extreme vomiting and severe dehydration. 

Young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may experience more severe illness that requires medical treatment or hospitalization.

Just days before Hayden Panettiere’s untimely death at age 36, her on-and-off boyfriend Brian Hickerson faced allegations of drug use during a court session, according to media reports.

The actress was found unresponsive in a South Carolina apartment on Sunday, August 16, and was later pronounced dead from a suspected overdose.

In a recent statement to TMZ, Hickerson’s brother, Zach, shared details about Panettiere’s final moments, revealing that Hickerson administered Narcan to her after realizing she was unconscious.

Only several days before her passing, on August 13, a hearing had been held concerning Hickerson’s request to expunge domestic violence convictions from his record. This request was filed on July 20, as reported by People.

Although Hickerson asserted compliance with his probation conditions, prosecutors disputed his expungement petition, citing ongoing alleged drug use and two separate arrests in Los Angeles in 2025, according to the magazine.

Back in 2021, Hickerson pleaded no contest to two felony counts of injuring Panettiere. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail and four years’ probation, plus $500 in fines and mandatory domestic violence classes. 

Panettiere’s on-and-off felon ex did not make an appearance at the hearing last week, nor did his attorney. 

Hickerson had been arrested at a West Hollywood bar called Barney’s Beanery in August 2025. 

However, he was not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence at the time. 

He was arrested again later that same month and was charged with a misdemeanor count of being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to People. 

Earlier this year in January, Hickerson ‘submitted proof’ that he completed 10 Narcotics Anonymous sessions. The misdemeanor charge was then dismissed.

During the hearing, prosecutors additionally cited a TMZ interview that Hickerson did back in May where he appeared ‘quite high’ and ‘very clearly not sober,’ per People.

Regarding the interview, the D.A. said that Hickerson ‘speaks for 15 minutes about the abuse that’s been documented in his victim’s best-selling book, and he makes several admissions about that,’ per TMZ.

‘And more significantly to his request today, he is quite high on what appears to be a stimulant, notwithstanding his lawyer’s representations that he is seeking expungement because he is now sober.’ 

A judge denied Hickerson’s petition at the hearing.

Hickerson had previously attempted to remove the convictions from his record one year earlier in July 2025, with the petition also being opposed by prosecutors, per People.  

The Los Angeles County D.A.’s Office told People in a statement following the August 13 hearing Hickerson’s petition was opposed due to ‘continued demonstrable drug use’ as well as last year’s arrest. 

Daily Mail reached out to a rep for comment. An attorney for Hickerson denied to comment.  

Panettiere tragically passed away on August 16 at the age of 36. 

Hickerson’s brother, Zach, recently broke his silence on the actress’s final moments in a statement to TMZ. 

Hickerson administered Narcan to Panettiere after he and his brother, Zach, found her unconscious in their Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina.

Zach, who said he wanted to ‘clarify my involvement’ in the situation, said he was calling 911 while Hickerson gave Panettiere the medication, which is typically administered to reverse an opioid overdose.

Zach said he, Hickerson and the actress were planning to get lunch and go indoor golfing after he attended church.

He called and texted Panettiere and his brother as he was leaving the Sunday service, but didn’t hear back from them, he recalled.

Zach assumed the pair were sleeping so he drove back to the rental, but he didn’t have the door code to the unit so he couldn’t get in.

‘I knocked loudly which apparently woke Brian up from a nap they were both taking on the pull out couch bed in the living room. When we went in and tried to wake Hayden up for lunch, we realized she was unconscious,’ he said.

‘I immediately called 911 and Brian gave her Narcan. We then jointly performed CPR while 911 was on speaker until Fire and EMS arrived.’

‘At that point we watched as they tried every measure possible to save her life,’ he added.

Zach says he is ‘beyond heartbroken and devastated’ by Panettiere’s death.

He shared how over the past eight years the actress had become one of my ‘dearest and closest friends,’ adding that she was someone he loved and cared for deeply.

He urged for an end to the ‘assumptions, speculations and accusations’ that are swirling around the star’s death.

Zach claimed the ‘truth’ will come out once police have completed their investigation.

The Heroes star was later declared dead following the suspected overdose.

Details about Panettiere’s final moments come just hours after her ex-fiance Wladimir Klitschko paid a heartbreaking tribute to the actress on what would have been her 37th birthday.

Sharing a photo of the actress on August 21, the boxer wrote: ‘Today is Hayden’s birthday. Instead of celebrating the way we had planned, today we celebrate her life, her spirit, and the love she brought into this world.

‘I want to thank all of Hayden’s fans, friends, and everyone who has reached out for the incredible outpouring of love and support. At a time filled with so much sadness, your kindness has reminded me that there is still so much good in humanity.

‘If you’re reading this, I ask just one thing: Even if only for a moment, think about LOVE. Reach out to a friend. Forgive someone. Be kind. Love is a superpower. Use it.

‘Happy Birthday, Hayden. You are loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten.’

The actress had a daughter with the boxer. In 2018, when Kaya was three, she signed full custody to her ex amid her battle with postpartum depression and addiction and Wladimir moved their daughter to his native Ukraine.

On Monday, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said that the post-mortem had been completed and that no signs of trauma were found on the star’s body.

Further investigations will take place to establish her cause of death, with chief deputy coroner Shelton England telling the Daily Mail that it was too early to discuss the drug overdose theory.

On Thursday, Hickerson addressed the star’s death through his lawyers.

‘Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed,’ said his attorney Sloan Ellis, from the Ellis Hinton law firm.

‘As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.

‘Out of respect for Hayden’s loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time.’

A Greenville police officer who responded to the residence Sunday afternoon was met by the brothers and then observed paramedics performing CPR on an unresponsive woman, according to a police report.

‘The patient did not seem to have any obvious physical reasons to be unresponsive,’ the officer noted. After attempting lifesaving measures, the emergency workers declared Panettiere dead at 2:31pm on Sunday.

Panettiere and Hickerson were said to have flown from Los Angeles to South Carolina one day before she died.

Hickerson is originally from Greenville, public records show. It is unclear what the purpose of the couple’s visit was.

Earlier, a representative for Panettiere confirmed her death, saying her family would remember her as an ‘incredible light’ who brought ‘immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her.’
