Family of Nancy Guthrie Issues Heartfelt Plea for Help: Emotional Statement Highlights Urgency

0

Fifty days after Nancy Guthrie mysteriously disappeared from her home, her family is making an urgent appeal to the public for renewed attention to their mother’s unsettling case.

In a poignant statement shared during a special broadcast by Arizona’s KVOA news station titled “Bring Her Home – The Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie,” the family expressed their deep gratitude to the Tucson community for their ongoing support in the search for Nancy, stating, “We are all family now.”

The family emphasized their belief that the key to solving Nancy’s disappearance lies within the Tucson and broader southern Arizona communities. “We continue to believe it is Tucsonans, and the greater southern Arizona community, that hold the key to finding resolution in this case,” they stated.

They urged anyone with potential information to come forward, highlighting that “someone knows something” and that it’s possible a community member holds crucial information without even realizing its significance.

‘Someone knows something. It’s possible a member of this community has information that they do not even realize is significant.’

The family asked Tucson residents to ‘search their memories,’ focusing on the night of January 31 and the early morning hours of February 1, when investigators believe Nancy was taken from her home.

They asked the community for ‘renewed attention’ on their mom’s case and to search for anything significant, including camera footage, journal notes, text messages, and observations.

‘We miss our mom with every breath and we cannot be in peace until she is home. We cannot grieve; we can only ache and wonder. Our focus is solely on finding her and bringing her home,’ the statement continued.

‘We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest.’

The KVOA special comes as Today show host Savannah Guthrie, 54, shared her first Instagram story in nearly three weeks.

She reposted a clip from Friday’s Today broadcast showing her colleagues interacting with participants in the non-profit Best Buddies International, which supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Volunteers with the organization are paired with individuals with IDD, serving as mentors and friends as they navigate daily life.

Savannah is a longtime ambassador with the charity and has been ‘Best Buddies’ with a person named Tara, who has Down Syndrome, for about 10 years.

The clip Savannah reposted showed Tara standing outside the Today show studio behind Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin while holding a sign saying: ‘We love you Savannah.’

The show, which took place just outside the Today show studios at 10 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan, commemorated World Down Syndrome Day.

‘Tomorrow’s World Down Syndrome Day and we’re marking it early with some friends from Best Buddies,’ Kotb said.

Savannah added three yellow heart emojis over the clip.

Savannah has been away from work since her mother disappeared in late January. Kotb and other anchors, including Sheinelle Jones, have been covering for Savannah in her absence.

Since February 6, Kotb has been co-hosting Today with Melvin. The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that NBC has been preparing for Savannah’s eventual return.

So far, Savannah has not indicated when she will come back to the air, but NBC has confirmed that she does not plan to stay away permanently. She visited the studio on March 5 and got a warm welcome from her colleagues.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off by a family member at her home near Tucson, Arizona.

Police believe the 84-year-old was taken against her will during the early hours of February 1. After she failed to show up at a friend’s home that day, her family reported her missing.

Nancy’s home surveillance footage showed a masked man at her door the night she went missing. Authorities have not been able to identify the man, nor have they zeroed in on a possible suspect.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading the investigation, told NBC News on March 12 that he believes he knows the motive behind Nancy’s kidnapping but did not share any more details.

On March 16, Brian Entin of NewsNation reported that investigators asked Nancy’s neighbors for any surveillance footage they can provide for Sunday, January 11 and Saturday, January 24. It’s not clear why these dates are significant.

Nanos and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been roundly criticized for supposedly making significant errors early on in the search.

The Daily Mail reported in February that the sheriff’s department failed to deploy its fixed-wing Cessna aircraft to search the area around Nancy’s home immediately after she was reported missing.

The aircraft, equipped with high-resolution thermal imaging cameras capable of scanning vast swaths of desert terrain, remained on the tarmac for roughly half a day, sources close to the sheriff’s department told the Daily Mail.

There was a staffing shortage that left the department without qualified pilots to fly the plane – a shortage people familiar with the situation blamed directly on Nanos.

Nanos has also acknowledged that crime scene tape around Nancy’s house was put up and taken down on numerous occasions.

When asked about potential crime scene contamination issues this could have caused, Nanos said: ‘I’ll let the court worry about it. We follow the rules of law.’

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for any information that leads to Nancy’s whereabouts or an arrest of anyone responsible.

Savannah and her family are also offering a $1 million reward. They donated $500,000 to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Revitalize Your Waistline: 5 Standing Exercises to Reduce Overhang Faster Than Weight Training for Seniors

0

When it comes to trimming the waistline, many people instinctively turn to crunches or abdominal machines in hopes of achieving a toned midsection. While these exercises do target the abdominal muscles, they might not be the most effective method for reducing waist overhang, especially for individuals over 60. A certified strength coach suggests that incorporating standing exercises into your routine can yield better results.

In my years of coaching, I’ve observed a distinct trend: exercises that incorporate multiple muscle groups, including the legs, hips, and upper body, tend to be more effective. These activities not only engage more muscles but also elevate the heart rate, promoting greater energy expenditure. Moreover, they require core engagement for stability, providing a more comprehensive workout than isolated abdominal exercises.

The following five standing exercises harness this holistic approach. By engaging major muscle groups and keeping the body in motion, they effectively challenge the core throughout the workout. Regularly performing these exercises can enhance strength, boost calorie burning, and contribute to reducing waist overhang over time.

Over years of coaching, I’ve seen a clear pattern in exercises that help people feel leaner and stronger through the waist. Movements that recruit the legs, hips, and upper body simultaneously naturally raise heart rate and encourage the body to burn more energy. At the same time, the core has to stay engaged to keep everything stable. That combination often delivers far more return than isolated midsection work.

The five standing exercises below tap into that full-body effect. They keep the body moving, activate major muscle groups, and challenge the core from start to finish. Perform them consistently, and you’ll build strength, increase calorie burn, and support the kind of training that helps reduce waist overhang over time.

High Knees

High knees combine core engagement with quick lower-body movement. Each time the knee drives upward, the abdominals and hip flexors work together to stabilize the torso. The fast tempo also increases heart rate and encourages greater calorie burn. Many people notice their core automatically bracing to keep the body upright. Over time, this movement helps strengthen the midsection while improving coordination and conditioning.

Muscles Trained: Hip flexors, lower abdominals, quads, and calves.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Begin jogging in place.
  3. Drive one knee upward toward your chest.
  4. Quickly switch legs while maintaining a steady rhythm.
  5. Continue alternating knees at a controlled pace.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 30 seconds. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Slow high knees, marching high knees, band-resisted high knees.

Form Tip: Keep your chest tall and drive your knees upward rather than leaning back.

Jumping Jacks

Jumping jacks are a classic movement for a reason. They involve the entire body while encouraging continuous motion. The arms and legs move together, which forces the core to stabilize the torso throughout the exercise. This combination quickly raises heart rate and increases overall energy output. When performed consistently, jumping jacks help strengthen the core while improving endurance.

Muscles Trained: Shoulders, hips, calves, and core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand with your feet together and your arms at your sides.
  2. Jump your feet outward while raising your arms overhead.
  3. Land softly with your knees slightly bent.
  4. Jump your feet back together while lowering your arms.
  5. Continue repeating the motion in a steady rhythm.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 30 seconds. Rest for 30 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Low-impact step jacks, slow jumping jacks, power jacks.

Form Tip: Land softly and maintain a steady rhythm throughout the movement.

Medicine Ball Slams

Medicine ball slams combine power, coordination, and full-body engagement. The downward slam activates the core while the hips and shoulders generate force. This explosive movement encourages the entire body to work together. Because the exercise recruits large muscle groups, it also increases calorie expenditure. Over time, slams help strengthen the muscles that wrap around the waist.

Muscles Trained: Core, shoulders, lats, and hips.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart while holding a medicine ball.
  2. Raise the ball overhead with both hands.
  3. Brace your core and slam the ball toward the floor.
  4. Catch or retrieve the ball as it rebounds.
  5. Reset and repeat the movement.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Rotational slam, alternating slam, overhead slam.

Form Tip: Engage your core before slamming the ball downward.

Squat Jumps

Squat jumps train the legs and core while encouraging explosive power. Lowering into the squat activates the quads and glutes, while the jump requires the body to produce force quickly. The core works to stabilize the torso during both the jump and the landing. This combination challenges the entire lower body while increasing energy output. With regular practice, squat jumps help build strength and conditioning simultaneously.

Muscles Trained: Quads, glutes, calves, and core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Lower your body into a squat position.
  3. Drive through your feet and jump upward.
  4. Land softly with your knees slightly bent.
  5. Reset your stance and repeat.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps. Rest for 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Pause squat jump, low-impact squat jump, box squat jump.

Form Tip: Land softly and absorb the impact through your hips and knees.

Suitcase Carry

The suitcase carries the challenge of the core in a subtle yet powerful way. Holding weight on one side forces the abdominal muscles to stabilize the torso, preventing leaning. This creates continuous tension through the obliques and deep core muscles. Walking while holding the weight also recruits the hips and shoulders. Over time, suitcase carrying helps strengthen the muscles that support the waistline and improve posture.

Muscles Trained: Obliques, core stabilizers, shoulders, and grip.

How to Do It:

  1. Hold a dumbbell or kettlebell in one hand at your side.
  2. Stand tall with your shoulders level.
  3. Brace your core and begin walking forward.
  4. Maintain steady steps and an upright posture.
  5. Switch hands after completing the distance.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 30 to 40 seconds per side. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Farmer carry, front rack carry, kettlebell carry.

Form Tip: Keep your shoulders level and avoid leaning toward the weight.

Best Daily Habits That Help Reduce Waist Overhang After 60

Reducing waist overhang becomes easier when exercise works alongside supportive daily habits. Strength training and movement increase energy output while helping the body maintain muscle mass. When combined with healthy lifestyle choices, these habits encourage the body to gradually reduce excess fat.

  • Train large muscle groups regularly: Full-body movements increase energy expenditure and stimulate more muscle.
  • Stay consistent with movement: Daily activity helps maintain calorie burn throughout the week.
  • Prioritize protein intake: Protein supports muscle maintenance while encouraging satiety.
  • Support workouts with sleep and recovery: Quality sleep helps regulate hormones that influence body composition.
  • Maintain a balanced routine: Combining strength, movement, and healthy habits encourages long-term results.

Shocking Security Footage Captures University of Alabama Student’s Fall into Ocean Near Beach

0

Spanish authorities have confirmed that the tragic death of 20-year-old James Gracey was due to an accidental drowning after he fell into the sea near Somorrostro Beach in Barcelona.

According to earlier reports by CrimeOnline, the body of the University of Alabama student was discovered by the Mossos d’Esquadra police on Thursday.

Gracey, hailing from Elmhurst, Illinois, disappeared on March 17 after visiting the Shôko beachfront restaurant and nightclub with friends in Barcelona’s Port Olímpic district, as previously reported by Fox News.

Reports from La Vanguardia detail that Catalan police discovered Gracey’s body submerged approximately four meters deep in the waters of Barcelona’s Port Olímpic. Surveillance footage reviewed by authorities showed Gracey walking alone towards a dock area before his fall into the water.

On Friday, officials revealed that a preliminary autopsy suggested there was no indication of foul play involved, as reported by El Periódico.

“Everything points to an accidental death, although we are not disclosing details regarding how the events unfolded,” a Mossos d’Esquadra spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

On Thursday, police found Gracey’s wallet floating in water near Somorrostro Beach. The discovery happened after aquatic and drone searches began searching the area.

Police also arrested someone who had Gracey’s phone, but no additional information has been released.

Gracey had been on a personal spring break trip to the country to visit friends who study abroad. According to CNN, Gracey’s flight back home was scheduled for Saturday.

“Our family is heartbroken as we confirm that Jimmy’s body has been recovered in Barcelona,” a family statement read.

“Jimmy was a deeply loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, and our family is struggling to come to terms with this unimaginable loss.”

Resilient Communities Brace for Impact as Slow-Moving Cyclone Strikes Again

0

Communities in northern regions, already grappling with excessive rainfall, are now facing the renewed fury of Tropical Cyclone Narelle. As they prepare for potential disruptions, including road closures and supply shortages, the situation grows increasingly tense.

Coastal areas of the eastern Top End are already feeling the effects of Narelle. The cyclone made landfall early Sunday morning near Cape Shield, positioned northwest of Groote Eylandt. As it progresses, its path is expected to sweep across the Top End throughout Sunday and Monday, transforming into a tropical low.

Residents in these areas have been warned to brace for heavy rainfall and potentially destructive winds. Late on Saturday, the cyclone intensified to a category three storm, unleashing winds of 130 km/h and gusts reaching 185 km/h, accompanied by severe rainfall over much of the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has cautioned towns along the Gulf of Carpentaria and those further inland in the Northern Territory. These areas could experience wind gusts up to 165 km/h and rainfall exceeding 200 millimeters on Sunday, posing a significant threat to safety and infrastructure.

Towns on the Gulf of Carpentaria and further inland in the Northern Territory have been told by the Bureau of Meteorology to expect wind gusts up to 165 kilometres an hour and rainfall above 200 millimetres on Sunday.

The community was well-prepared for the storm and the government response so far had been effective, the director of the Savannah Way Motel in the Gulf town of Borroloola said.

“There has been a fair bit of water around from previous rain,” Anastasi Kambourakis told AAP.

“Most of the people who live in Borroloola are used to it this time of year.”

Narelle is the first cyclone to hit the area in more than a year and lessons have been learned from previous experiences.

“We did lose freight for a little bit,” Kambourakis said.

“The government always prioritises getting it through to the community.”

Gulf communities are also warned to expect abnormally high sea levels that could cause sea water flooding of low-lying areas.

Residents sheltering at home should move to the smallest, strongest, most protective room in their house, such as a bathroom or a toilet.

Flood warnings are in place across much of the Top End, particularly in Katherine and Daly.

Patients were evacuated from Katherine Hospital in anticipation of Narelle worsening the delicate flood situation in the town.

The storm is expected to move slowly south and west on Sunday, with warnings in place for large swathes of Western Australia as well.

Residents across the Kimberley have been told to prepare now for the likelihood of heavy rain on Monday as the storm slowly weakens.

In Queensland, the clean-up from the cyclone has begun with energy crews deployed to return to power more than a 1000 homes.

Police have delivered fuel to remote communities on Cape York to help locals recover from the storm, which brought down trees and ripped off roofs as it passed.

Mother Allegedly Seen Dragging Son in Walmart Before Incident Leaves Him Unconscious: Police Report

Inset: Samantha E. Fletcher (Tullytown Police Dept.). Background: The Walmart where Fletcher allegedly knocked her child unconscious (Google Maps).

A woman from Pennsylvania is facing serious charges after allegedly rendering her young child unconscious during an incident at a Walmart over the weekend. Eyewitnesses claim she repeatedly “slammed” the boy into and out of a shopping cart.

Samantha Fletcher has been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, and simple assault related to this incident.

The Tullytown Borough Police Department released a statement indicating that officers were dispatched on March 14 to conduct a welfare check on a young child at the Walmart situated in the 100 block of Levittown Parkway.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a witness who described a woman displaying belligerent behavior while shopping with her children.

“The witness observed a woman, seemingly under the influence, shouting profanities at two small children and dragging one child across the floor by a backpack leash as he cried hysterically,” the police statement noted. “The witness further reported that the woman picked up the child and dropped him into a shopping cart, causing him to hit his head, and at some point, the child lost consciousness.”

A short while later, officers located the woman, later identified as Fletcher, still inside the store. They said she was “holding the unconscious child in her arms” at the time.

Emergency medical personnel at the scene examined the victim, determining the child required “immediate medical attention.”

Investigators said they ultimately determined Fletcher was responsible for the injuries observed on the child. She was taken into custody and later arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Terrence P. Hughes. The judge ordered Fletcher to remain in custody at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bond.

Court documents obtained by Phillyburbs.com provided additional details about the alleged incident and the child’s condition.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a shopper who approached Fletcher asked if she needed help with the crying boy. Fletcher allegedly responded that the woman could try. The witness said the child briefly calmed down when picked up, resting his head on the woman’s shoulder.

However, investigators allege Fletcher then escalated her actions, repeatedly handling the child in a violent manner. At some point, Fletcher repeatedly “slammed” the boy in and out of the shopping cart, doing so at least five times, the report states. During one of those instances, the child struck his head on the cart, losing consciousness soon after.

When police arrived, they found the boy unresponsive in Fletcher’s arms, while another child was asleep in the cart. Medics were unable to wake the boy, who had a large bruise on his forehead, according to the affidavit.

The child was transported via ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center, where a CT scan reportedly revealed he had suffered a serious concussion.

Authorities also contacted child protective services, and the children were later released to their father.

Fletcher is currently scheduled to appear in court for her arraignment on April 24, records show.

St. John’s Aims for Historic Sweet 16 Comeback: Can They Overcome Kansas?

0

In SAN DIEGO, a familiar scene unfolds for St. John’s as they find themselves in a situation mirroring last year. The team is riding high after securing both the Big East regular-season and postseason championships, bolstered by a dominant opening-round win in the NCAA Tournament. Their eyes are set on reaching the Sweet 16, a feat they haven’t achieved since 1999.

Standing firmly in their path is a formidable challenge: Darryn Peterson, who is widely tipped to be the top pick in the upcoming NBA draft, and the ever-dominant Kansas team. St. John’s is eager to move beyond the disappointment of the previous year when their impressive season was cut short by a heartbreaking loss to Arkansas, leaving them as the only top-eight seed to miss out on the Sweet 16.

As they prepare for the showdown against the No. 4 seed Jayhawks in an East Region second-round game at Viejas Arena on Sunday, Zuby Ejiofor of the fifth-seeded Johnnies remains determined. “I’m just looking forward to doing whatever it takes to come out with a victory,” he expressed, encapsulating the team’s resolve to rewrite history this time around.

Last year’s memorable season ended at this stage, in a depressing loss to Arkansas. St. John’s was the only one of the top eight seeds to fail to reach the Sweet 16.

“I’m just looking forward to doing whatever it takes to come out with a victory,” Zuby Ejiofor said, as the fifth-seeded Johnnies prepared to meet the No. 4 Jayhawks in an East Region second-round game Sunday at Viejas Arena.

It seems fitting that Sunday’s opponent is Kansas, Ejiofor’s previous school. He didn’t play much there as a freshman and transferred to St. John’s. The 6-foot-9 forward, the Big East Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, has been so critical to this remarkable two-year run that has seen St. John’s (29-6) win 60 games and lose only 11. All that is missing is a trip to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament.

“We’re going to come with a lot of fire and passion,” Bryce Hopkins promised.

CHECK OUT THE LATEST BIG EAST STANDINGS AND ST. JOHN’S STATS

This group seems to be in a better spot than it was a year ago because it is bigger up front and more capable from the 3-point line. These Johnnies have also won 20 of 21 games and haven’t trailed in their past four contests. In that stretch, they have gotten off to fast starts in each game, highlighted by the 13-0 burst to start Friday’s blowout of No. 12 Northern Iowa. There is a confidence among them that seems to be growing.

“We don’t fear anybody,” Oziyah Sellers said.

Kansas (24-10), though, is a different animal. Not only is the 6-foot-6 Peterson a uniquely gifted talent, but the Jayhawks have the size and athleticism that gave St. John’s trouble during the nonconference season.

Sophomore big man Flory Bidunga is one of the sport’s premier shot-blockers, and Kansas is seventh in the country in blocked-shots percentage at 15.7.

The Jayhawks own wins over the likes of Final Four contenders Arizona, Houston, Tennessee and Iowa State. They did struggle down the stretch, going 4-5 before topping No. 13 Cal Baptist in the opening round, and St. John’s is a small betting favorite.

“We probably haven’t faced anything like them since Kentucky as far as the length, size and size of the backcourt,” coach Rick Pitino said, referring to a December nonconference loss in which the Johnnies were overwhelmed in the second half.

So much has changed for St. John’s since that game.

Pitino went to a three-forward starting lineup, replacing guard Joson Sanon with do-it-all forward Dillon Mitchell. The Johnnies repeated as Big East regular-season outright champions for the first time in school history, then won all three Big East Tournament games by double figures. That included a stunning 20-point rout of Connecticut in the title game.

“Coach told us to take [the Big East Tournament] as preparation for the March Madness tournaments in not starting slow. Because in [the NCAA Tournament], you’re only guaranteed 40 minutes. That’s the biggest thing, starting fast, knowing this could be our last game.”

A joyous celebration followed. The next night, though, St. John’s was slighted by the selection committee, given a No. 5 seed and sent out West.

It didn’t seem to bother the team, which crushed Northern Iowa in a game experts felt could be tricky. The Johnnies have been adamant they haven’t used it as extra motivation. They have a chance to continue this memorable season Sunday and end the program’s Sweet 16 drought. That’s their inspiration.

“It’s one final opportunity for me and a few of my teammates,” Ejiofor said. “So we’re trying to make the best of this year. And we’ve already [done] some special things. But we have one more goal in mind.”

Barnaby Joyce’s Bold Forecast: Why One Nation’s Influence is Set to Skyrocket

0
Former Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce, who joined Pauline Hanson’s party in December after a fallout with the Coalition’s junior partner, has celebrated One Nation’s first successful election test with a promise: this is only the beginning.

Barnaby Joyce reiterated Pauline Hanson’s remarks from the previous day, emphasizing that a “clear message” is being transmitted to Australia’s major political parties.

“The political landscape in Australia has transformed, and this confirms it,” Joyce stated during an interview with Today.

One Nation seems to have met polling expectations, securing its most significant electoral victory in decades. This result is likely to make waves across state lines and resonate within Canberra.

Joyce noted that One Nation’s primary vote exceeding 21 percent in the South Australian election is unlikely to be a fleeting phenomenon.

“I believe this is what the public desires; the world has evolved, and it’s time for people to acknowledge that,” he expressed.

“It started in South Australia, next stop Farrer, then Victorian elections, and we will keep growing and growing and growing.”

Premier Peter Malinauskas’ victory may have been a landslide, but both Labor and the Coalition lost voters to One Nation yesterday.

Labor’s primary vote still dipped slightly to around 38 per cent while the LNP is sitting at under 19 per cent, with just over half of the votes counted.

Voters are turning to One Nation, it seems, in droves due to the ongoing economic issues impacting Australian households, Joyce said.

He said One Nation has transformed into a “viable, professional outfit” in the eyes of voters.

“It’s a constituency that is both former Liberal and National voters and also blue collar Labor party voters and people that just think that Australia needs to take a different direction, unless we’re going to have problems,” Joyce added.

Seattle Man Acquitted Due to Insanity in Case Involving Pregnant Woman and Unborn Child

0

The individual accused in a tragic 2023 shooting that claimed the lives of a pregnant woman from Seattle and her unborn child has been acquitted on grounds of insanity.

Cordell Goosby faced charges of first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder following the death of 34-year-old Eina Kwon and the injury of her husband, Sung Kwon, during the incident.

On the morning of June 13, 2023, Eina Kwon and Sung Kwon were en route to their Japanese restaurant, Aburiya Bento House. The couple halted at a red light at an intersection at approximately 11:15 a.m.

It is alleged that Goosby dashed towards the driver’s side of their white Tesla, brandishing a firearm.

“In a short span of time, he fired a gun in the victim’s car window, striking the victims inside the car. After firing all the bullets he had in the gun into the victims’ car, he turned and ran from the scene,” prosecutors wrote in court papers, noting that Goosby got rid of the weapon. “The defendant’s actions left a family and community shattered.”

Officers later located Goosby, who put his hands in the air and said, “I did it! I did it!” according to court documents.

Then-Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell described the broad daylight shooting as an “unimaginable tragedy.”

Goosby was prohibited from owning a firearm due to his criminal record in Illinois. He allegedly used a stolen gun during the shooting, officials said.

Fox 13 reported that the King County court system said a not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity ruling means Goosby “admits that he committed the crimes and agrees to commitment in a state psychiatric hospital.”

Experts for both the defense and prosecution evaluated Goosby and determined he was legally insane at the time of the shooting, leading the court to permit the plea, the outlet reported.

Family Pursues Justice Following Fatal Shooting of Brandy Fleming in West Garfield Park Alley

0

CHICAGO—Developments have emerged regarding the tragic discovery of a woman’s body in an alley on Chicago’s West Side. The victim, identified as Brandy Fleming, was fatally shot behind her residence in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Chicago police have confirmed that Fleming’s lifeless body was found early in the morning on March 13, in the 200 block of North Kilbourn Avenue. Her family, speaking exclusively to ABC7 Chicago, has made a heartfelt plea for assistance in caring for her 5-year-old son.

Family members remain uncertain about how long Fleming’s body had been outside before it was discovered. They recounted to ABC7 that it was a passerby, on their way to work, who stumbled upon the tragic scene. Meanwhile, Fleming’s young son was inside the home, unaware of the heartbreaking events that had unfolded around him.

Fleming was found dead around 5:30 a.m. March 13 in the 200-block of North Kilbourn Avenue, Chicago police said.

The victim’s family says they aren’t sure how long her body was left outside in the back of her home. They told ABC7 it was stranger who happened to be driving to work when they found her body in the alley while the victim’s 5-year-old son was in the home and didn’t know his mother was killed.

“You took a really good person with a really big heart that cared about her child,” aunt Shantel Jamison said.

It’s been a heartbreaking week for the family. Relatives said only child was inside their house, at the time, unaware that his mother was taken from him.

“It was a lady actually on her way to work,” sister Esha Love said. “The boots are what caught her attention. That’s what made her come and assist my sister, and I’m grateful that she did. But I’m saying, in a sense, it was like a little too late.”

Her family says they didn’t find out about her death until hours later.

“Where’s her son? That’s what’s going through my mind,” Jamison said. “Is he okay? Is it a strong possibility he is hurt, too?”

Relatives say the boy was found safe at daycare, left with an unfillable void while the West Side alley remains shrouded in mystery amid an ongoing investigation.

“Sometimes people do holler out with silent cries in situations,” Love said. “I just felt like that I wasn’t there at the time of her desperate need.”

Police haven’t determined a motive behind the shooting, only saying the offender is unknown. So far, no one has been arrested.

Area Four detectives are investigating.

Kevin Spacey Reaches Out-of-Court Settlement with Three Men in Alleged Sexual Assault Cases

In a recent development from London, three men who accused actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assault have resolved their civil lawsuits ahead of a scheduled trial at the High Court. According to court documents, these settlements have precluded the need for the cases to proceed in court.

The allegations against Spacey, spanning incidents from 2000 to 2013, were serious and had been a subject of significant legal scrutiny. Despite these accusations, the acclaimed actor, known for his Academy Award-winning performances, has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

The civil trials, initially set to commence later this year, have been halted following a directive from Judge Christina Lambert. She recently instructed that the proceedings be paused, indicating that both parties had reached an agreement to settle the claims.

“By mutual consent, it is ordered that all further proceedings against the defendant in these cases be stayed as per the terms specified in this order and the confidential schedule associated with it,” stated Judge Lambert.

While the specifics of the settlements remain undisclosed, the judge did not issue any orders regarding the costs, leaving that aspect of the cases closed to the public as well.

The order, dated March 13, was made public on Wednesday.

Spacey’s representatives have been approached for comment.

Spacey, now 66, was tried in London in 2023 on nine alleged sex offenses against four men, and acquitted on all counts.

Two of the civil claimants, whose identities are protected by legal orders, gave evidence during Spacey’s criminal trial.

Spacey also successfully defended himself against a $40 million civil lawsuit in New York in 2022 brought by “Star Trek: Discovery” actor Anthony Rapp.

One of the most celebrated actors of his generation until his career was derailed by sex abuse allegations, Spacey starred in films including “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “LA Confidential” and the TV political thriller “House of Cards.” He won a best supporting actor Academy Award for the 1995 film “The Usual Suspects” and a lead actor Oscar for the 1999 movie “American Beauty.”

Spacey was artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2015.
