Nepal Tunnel Workers Found Alive 9 Days After Deadly Flooding

0

Rescue crews in Nepal have pulled two workers out alive from a hydropower tunnel, nine days after devastating floods tore across the country, killing more than 1,000 people and leaving thousands still unaccounted for.

Nepalese lawmaker Shri Ram Neupane told The Associated Press that search teams heard men calling from inside the tunnel on Friday morning. Photos released by the Nepal Army showed one rescuer carrying a worker on his back as soldiers moved alongside to assist.

The discovery has fueled fresh hope that dozens of other people believed to be trapped underground may still be found alive. Brig. Gen. Raja Ram Basnet said one of the rescued workers reported that more people remain alive inside the tunnel, and that the search operation is continuing.

“I can’t explain what we are feeling at the moment. We are just grateful to God,” Amir Maharjan, the brother of one of the rescued workers, told the AP.

Both men were flown to a hospital in Kathmandu, and one of them was in critical condition, the AP reported, citing a statement from the prime minister’s office.

Officials identified them as a mechanical foreman and a mechanical supervisor at the Trishuli 3A plant.

The AP reported that about 115 people are believed to remain trapped in the Trishuli 3A tunnel alone, citing the Independent Power Producers Association of Nepal.

In total, authorities say there are about 900 workers missing from 12 hydropower plants in Nepal, with about 500 of them believed to be trapped in tunnels.

Nepal’s Communication Minister Bikram Timilsina wrote on his Facebook page that officials “are waiting for the rescue of more and more people.”

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly day and night to rescue two people alive!” Timilsina added.

The AP reported that at least 1,287 people have been killed and more than 5,000 remain missing after the Aug. 26 floods, which scientists believe were likely triggered by a glacier collapse.

China said on Wednesday that on the Tibet side of the border, 21 people were killed and 541 are missing.

Nepal’s disaster agency chief told Reuters on Friday that the flooding has likely caused at least 387.5 billion Nepalese rupees (about $2.5 billion) in damage to infrastructure and property.

Heartbreaking Story of the Midwife Who Helped Russell Howard and His Wife

0

The midwife who supported Russell Howard and his wife after the devastating death of their baby son chose her career path after suffering the loss of her own child at the same hospital.

Lauren Petrie, 46, now a Specialist Bereavement Midwife at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital, qualified as a midwife in 2018. Earlier this year, she helped guide Mr Howard and his wife, Cerys Morgan, through unimaginable grief after their baby boy Felix died shortly after birth.

The 46-year-old comedian said the support Ms Petrie gave the couple “meant more to us than we can ever put into words”.

He said they were able to share “precious hours with our beautiful boy” after Felix was placed in a cool cot, adding that he and his wife were “overwhelmed” by the compassion and care they received.

Ms Petrie had been working in elderly care at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital when she endured a similarly heartbreaking loss in 2013. Her second daughter, Jada, was stillborn at 41 weeks, a tragedy she said came “completely out of the blue”.

Hoping to make something positive out of her bereavement, she retrained as a midwife at King’s College London before joining her hospital’s bereavement team.

She told the Daily Mail: ‘I don’t share it with that many patients because I don’t want to take away from that person’s grief.

‘It’s not about me and my story, but there are times you get to know people closer and they ask “how did you deal with it?” or “what did you physically do?” and sometimes that conversation will happen naturally.

‘Carers tell you it feels really lonely and no one truly understands it and I guess because I have been through it when I tell parents I know what it feels like it means a lot.’

Mr Howard said the hospital staff showed ‘extraordinary compassion, kindness and humanity’ while they were suffering ‘from the most devastating time of our lives.

He said: ‘They helped us navigate an unimaginable heartache and gave us support when we needed it most.’

Ms Petrie added: ‘They were really appreciative when I shared my story with them because they knew I got it. They were reassured because it was someone who has been through it themselves.’

She described how some mothers come in for scans completely unaware there is a problem. Then suddenly they have to consider funeral arrangements, post mortems, and if they want their baby blessed by a chaplain. She said she was in shock and was unable to make the decisions herself when she suffered the loss.

The midwife, who has worked with the Government to improve standards in bereavement care, uses her experience to develop new treatment techniques at her hospital. One is the creation of a soundproofed maternity room called ‘Jada’s room’, where mothers and families can stay without hearing cries from other babies.

It has facilities like a kettle which means families can avoid small talk with new parents on the ward who are unaware of their loss.

It also has a cold cot which preserves babies for longer, allowing parents to spend more time with their child.

Howard praised the cool cot for allowing him and his wife to hold Felix, ‘talk to him and tell him just how much we loved him.’

He said: ‘Those hours are among the most precious memories we have of Felix.’

The comedian said he was establishing The Felix Foundation, a bereavement charity, in his son’s memory.

He wrote: ‘The foundation will aim to relieve the needs of parents, siblings and other close family members affected by miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, neonatal death or related bereavement.’

‘Supporting the additional training of midwives in specialist bereavement care, through yearly grants to enable them to access resources such as counselling qualifications.

‘Funding resources to provide emotional support and practical assistance.

‘Providing or funding dedicated rooms, facilities, equipment and resources within hospitals, maternity units, neonatal units and other appropriate healthcare settings, supporting the care, wellbeing and dignity of babies and their families.

‘Providing information, guidance, signposting and other resources to affected families.

‘Raising awareness of late miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, neonatal loss and related bereavement, and the support needs of affected families.’

Ms Petrie will help advise what courses should be done and what resources, such as specialist equipment, should be used.

In a statement, Russell revealed he will be hosting a charity gala at the O2 in London with his famous comedian friends to raise money for the foundation.

He said: ‘To help launch the foundation and raise vital funds for this work, I will be hosting a very special charity gala at The O2 in London on 8 February 2027.

‘Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of friends and colleagues, we have managed to put together an incredible line-up of comedians, including: Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr, Aisling Bea, Guz Khan, Greg Davies, Mo Gilligan, Michelle Wolf and John Bishop.

‘Every single one of these incredible performers is giving their time completely free of charge. I will never forget their generosity.

‘We would absolutely love it if you could join us for what promises to be a very special evening: a night of comedy, laughter and celebration, all in aid of a cause that means everything to our family.’

He concluded: ‘The Felix Foundation is named after our beautiful son. We miss him dearly, every single day, but we take some comfort in knowing that his name will stand for kindness, compassion and laughter, and that his legacy may help other families through the darkest moments of their lives.’

‘We would love it if you came along and helped us make Felix’s legacy something truly special.’

Russell is currently touring Don’t Tell The Algorithm across the UK, following a run at the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe.

Russell and his wife, Cerys, started dating in 2004 when he was 21 and she was 17, before marrying in June 2019. The couple welcomed their first baby boy in 2024.

Homeless Man Arrested Over $5K Theft From Air Conditioning Firm

0

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Joshua Robert Spirit, 36, is facing charges in connection with two alleged thefts from a local air conditioning company, where authorities say more than $5,400 worth of materials were stolen and later pawned.

Employees at Charles Berg Heating & Air first noticed items missing from a fenced area on August 18. After checking surveillance footage, they saw a white male walking around the property, but the incident was not reported to law enforcement at that time.

A second discovery came on August 24, when employees again found property missing. Surveillance video reportedly showed a white male, later identified as Spirit, entering the property from a wooded area through an opening in the fence at about 1:30 a.m. Over the next 20-plus minutes, the man used a flashlight while moving around the site, collecting “numerous” items and either throwing them over the fence or pulling them through the opening. The stolen property included copper wiring and a large air conditioning unit coil/radiator, with an estimated value of $5,000.

Following that incident, the company installed trail cameras near the gap in the fence and contacted neighboring businesses to ask for surveillance footage. One nearby business reportedly provided video showing Spirit arriving in a vehicle.

At about 3:45 a.m. on August 28, cameras at the neighboring business reportedly captured Spirit arriving in a small Toyota sedan. Minutes later, at 4:03 a.m., cameras at Charles Berg allegedly showed him squeezing through the same fence opening and stealing pieces of assorted metals. Employees could not provide an exact value for the items taken in that incident, but estimated the loss at about $400.

The trail camera clearly showed Spirit’s shoes, khaki cargo shorts, graphic tee, beard, and glasses.

A detective at Alachua Police Department (APD) has been working on a separate burglary investigation involving Spirit as a suspect, and she immediately identified the white male as Spirit, along with noting that Spirit drives a red Toyota sedan that is registered to his ex-girlfriend; the owner of the Toyota reportedly said Spirit normally drives the vehicle.

Spirit was pulled over by APD in the red Toyota on July 16, and a photo from that encounter reportedly shows the same cargo shirts and shoes that were seen in the surveillance video at Charles Berg. Spirit reportedly denied any involvement in APD’s investigation, and he was released at the scene.

The Gainesville Police Department investigation of the Charles Berg thefts reportedly found two pawn transactions in Spirit’s name: just after the August 24 burglary, 68 pounds of scrap metal were sold for $210.65. On the same day as the August 28 burglary, 53 pounds of scrap metal were sold for $195.98.

Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) and Flock cameras reportedly show Spirit’s vehicle arriving and leaving just before and after both burglaries.

Spirit, who is described as homeless in a court document, has been charged with two counts of burglary of an unoccupied structure, two counts of dealing in stolen property, grand theft, and theft. He has four felony convictions (non-violent) and four misdemeanor convictions (one violent); he has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2013. He was arrested last November after taking his 6-year-old child with him to shoplift and then leaving the child unattended when he ran from police officers; he was initially charged with child abuse without great bodily harm, child neglect without great bodily harm, resisting recovery of property by a merchant, resisting an officer without violence, and theft, but he eventually entered a plea of nolo contendere to the last three charges, served six months in jail, and was released in April.

Judge Lua Lepianka set bail at $270,000 on the new charges.

Christine Taylor Reveals Brady Bunch Movie Weight Pressure

Christine Taylor is looking back on an uncomfortable moment from her early film career, revealing that she was asked to lose 10 pounds while playing Marcia Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie.

The 55-year-old actress shared the story during a new episode of the Office Ladies podcast, telling hosts Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey that the request came despite the fact that she did not consider herself overweight. “The one thing that I got – and I was not a super heavy person – but they asked me to lose 10 pounds,” she recalled.

Taylor said she ultimately went along with the demand, though the conversation left a lasting impression. “Of course, I was embarrassed when that ask came my way,” she admitted.

The actress, who is married to Ben Stiller, described the weight-loss request as very much a product of its era, calling it “so 90s” and adding that she believes it “would never happen today.”

Taylor also joked that sharp-eyed fans who watch the movie “very closely” may be able to spot that she put the weight back on after production wrapped, thanks in part to indulging in frozen yogurt once filming was over.

‘I’ll come into a scene looking a little rounder, and then I exit the scene looking a little thinner, just because of how they had to reshoot things,’ Taylor explained.

Taylor auditioned for the role after playing Marcia in a stage version of the ’70s series called The Real Live Brady Bunch.

Recounting how she got the opportunity, she said that series creator Sherwood Schwartz left an ‘out of the blue’ message on her answering machine, asking to meet with her.

‘I went to Sherwood Schwartz’s house and got to talk to him about The Brady Bunch,’ she shared. ‘It was a pinch-me moment… I cannot believe to this day that I didn’t keep my little tape from the answering machine.’

She felt confident about being offered the role after her initial audition, and said she knew ‘nobody could do it better.’

Earlier this year, Taylor opened up about her years-long separation from Stiller, 60, and what led them to give their marriage another chance.

While on the McBride Rewind podcast, she described that time of her life as ‘challenging.’

‘I think at that moment in time for us we weren’t on the same page with a lot of things,’ she host Josh McBride.

‘I can talk about it now… but in the moment, I mean, it was very difficult to come to that decision.’

‘It was not light. It was not without a heavy heart and feeling really, even, dejected at the time, of like, this is not how I imagined it was going to be and we should have been able to work it out,’ she remembered.

The couple married in 2000 and share daughter Ella, 24, and son Quinlin, 21. They announced their separation in 2017.

‘Through it all, we were always in contact. We were co-parenting together. We were spending time together as a family,’ Taylor said.

The ‘silver lining’ of the pandemic acted as a forced pause, allowing them to re-evaluate their relationship.

‘If there’s a silver lining for us during Covid, that was the little gift,’ Taylor explained.

‘We all kind of bubbled up together with our kids. Our daughter was graduating high school at the time, our son was graduation eighth grade. We all were in the house together and we had nothing but time.’

‘So Ben and I spent a lot of time just working on us with a therapist and we’d log into Zoom and we’d do our therapy sessions and really found the way back,’ she said, adding: ‘I think it’s something people don’t love to talk about because it feels like a failure.’

Sydney Sweeney, Scooter Braun Hold Hands on Venice Date

0

Sydney Sweeney stepped out in Venice on Friday in a delicate white lace dress, holding hands with boyfriend Scooter Braun as the pair enjoyed a water taxi ride, during which he appeared to steal a cheeky glance.

The 28-year-old actress and the 45-year-old businessman have been making the most of the city’s film festival buzz, having attended the Armani Beauty party together the previous evening.

By the next morning, the couple were back out and about, with Sweeney opting for a softer, more demure look in an intricately detailed lace dress featuring a structured, boxy neckline.

Her Vivienne Westwood outfit was styled with strappy dark brown heels that added height, while a pair of dark sunglasses gave the ensemble a polished finishing touch.

Braun kept his look relaxed for the outing, wearing a light green shirt with beige shorts as he walked hand in hand with Sweeney through Venice.

As they exited their water taxi Braun flashed a cheeky smile as he checked Sweeney out in her lace look.

On Thursday Sweeney enjoyed a romantic gondola ride with Braun and the pair shared a very steamy kiss.

The Euphoria star wore a white summer dress with a yellow jumper draped over her shoulders as she kissed the mogul.

Talent manager and record executive Braun wore blue shorts, a white shirt and a backwards baseball cap.

Prior to their trip to Venice, Sweeney was spotted in Los Angeles with Braun, whom she has been romantically linked with since last September.

The couple were joined by Braun’s three children – Jagger Joseph, 11, Levi Magnus, nine, and Hart Violet, seven – whom he shares with his ex-wife Yael Cohen.

Braun tied the knot with Cohen in 2014 but in 2021 their marriage came crashing down when he filed for divorce, which was finalised in 2022.

Sweeney looked affectionate with Braun’s kids on Monday afternoon as they went for a stroll after school before stopping for smoothies.

It marked a major development in the couple’s romance, which began months after they met at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s Venice wedding in June of last year.

After ending her engagement to longtime partner Jonathan Davino at the beginning of last year, when she started seeing Braun, sources said: ‘Sydney and Scooter are still seeing each other and trying to be as low-key as possible, while still dating and having fun… They are just taking things slow and enjoying their time together.’

By December, it was revealed the couple were ‘serious’: ‘Scooter and Sydney are going strong and things between them are great. They’re in a committed relationship, and things are serious.’

In January this year, Sweeney was asked about speculation around her love life, to which she said: ‘Sometimes I’ll think that I can do a normal thing and have a date in a normal way, and then it gets perceived in a very non-normal way. It’s kind of sad.’

On going public with a romance, she said: ‘I understand that I’m a public person, but I’m still in my 20s. I’m still figuring out love, and it’s hard to do that with millions of people who have their own opinions of what that looks like…

‘At the same time, for all of my 20s, I put my head down and focused on work – and now I want to experience things. But it’s hard deciding that I want to experience love in the public eye. I’m just navigating it all.’

In May, Braun said: ‘I’ve met an extraordinary woman who is kind and generous and smart, and real and down to earth.’

Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger Backlash Hits Streets, Skies

0

Of all the odd moments surrounding Thursday’s so-called “rally” outside Paramount’s famed Melrose Avenue gates in Hollywood, the clearest message may have come from the sky: an airplane banner taking a swipe at CEO David Ellison.

The event had been billed as a show of support by Neighbors for Strong Communities, an opaque pro-merger organization that critics believe may be tied to the Ellison family. Instead, it splintered into two competing, lightly attended press events that generated more confusion than momentum.

In the days before the gathering, Neighbors for Strong Communities sent text messages to California residents urging Attorney General Rob Bonta to settle his antitrust lawsuit challenging the deal and clear the way for the merger. But when reporters arrived Thursday morning near Paramount, organizers abruptly shifted the event to a nearby BLT Studios soundstage, saying they wanted to avoid a planned counter-demonstration.

The relocated press conference took place inside a low-lit studio with only a modest turnout. Roughly a dozen people connected to the Hollywood industry — including actors and below-the-line workers — spoke about fears that Ellison could move operations out of California, potentially costing local entertainment jobs. One attendee, Dani Kelly, who operates a podcast studio in Chatsworth, previously told P6H, “I need people in the industry here… I will have no business.”

Roger Neal, a publicist representing the little-known group, told Page Six Hollywood the location was changed after organizers learned a “Block the Merger”-aligned group planned to protest at the same Paramount entrance about an hour later. Neighbors for Strong Communities has faced accusations that it is a Paramount-backed “astroturf” effort, though the group has denied any connection to Paramount or the Ellisons.

That group, called Free Press, which has nothing to do with the Bari Weiss-founded media company and everything to do with the Jane Fonda-backed Committee for the First Amendment, held their own rally featuring about 15 workers and supporters of Bonta’s efforts to block the merger. Speakers included actress and comedian Alyssa Phillips, and Burbank city council members Nikki Perez and Konstantine Anthony

Free Press co-CEO Jessica Gonzalez told P6H that they planned their counter-event in response to hearing about the pro-merger group’s rally.

If all that wasn’t enough, a plane was circling high above Paramount all morning, flying a banner visible across wide swaths of LA with the words: “Ellison is Trump’s Bitch.” It quickly became the talk of the town as photos of the plane were shared among group chats and on social media.

If attendance at the events was any indication the takeaway was simple: fatigue in this whole thing may be setting in.

Busy Philipps Shares Brain Surgery Milestone 6 Months Later

Busy Philipps is marking an encouraging new chapter in her cancer journey.

On Thursday, September 3, the 47-year-old Dawson’s Creek alum shared an update with her Instagram followers, revealing that she had reached the six-month mark since undergoing successful brain surgery.

“YESTERDAY WAS 6 MONTHS SINCE MY BRAIN SURGERY REMOVED THAT TUMOR FROM MY BRAIN! 🧠 🎉🙌” Philipps wrote in the caption of a photo carousel, which included a playful selfie of the actress sticking out her tongue.

In another image, Philipps appeared to be wearing a hospital gown while snapping a mirror selfie. She also shared more good news in the same post, writing, “Well guess what? my mammogram was all clear too! woo!”

Busy Philipps, best known to many fans for her role on Dawson’s Creek, recently spoke candidly about her recovery after a brain tumor diagnosis. “I’m grateful that I’m alive,” Philipps, 47, told People in an interview published Wednesday, August 26. She revealed that a Prenuvo full-body scan in February had detected a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a rare, slow-growing brain tumor.

In an interview with People published on August 26, Philipps shared that she was “grateful” to be alive after her health diagnosis.

The actress explained that a Prenuvo full-body scan in February confirmed the presence of a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, a rare slow-growing tumor.

Philipps added that she almost skipped her appointment to undergo the scan as she didn’t have any obvious symptoms and the consultation was scheduled to take place just one day after her former Dawson’s Creek costar, James Van Der Beek, died from stage III colorectal cancer.

“‘Should I cancel it?’” Philipps recalled asking her ex-husband, Marc Silverstein, who responded, “Maybe it’s the best thing you could do for your friend this morning. Go get that scan.”

After the scan confirmed a tumor had been detected, Philipps underwent a procedure in March so doctors could remove a 2.6-centimeter mass from her brain.

James Van Der Beek's Widow Kimberly Supports Busy Philipps After Brain Tumor Diagnosis

James Van Der Beek’s widow, Kimberly Van Der Beek, is sharing a message of support after his former Dawson’s Creek costar Busy Philipps shared her brain tumor diagnosis. “We love you @busyphilipps and you got angels in heaven. ❤️,” Kimberly, 44, commented on People’s Wednesday, August 26, Instagram post from the outlet’s interview with Philipps, […]

Philipps’ procedure was successful, and she told the outlet that she “wasn’t in pain at all.” However, she faced a setback in April when she contracted staphylococcus on her incision and needed a follow-up surgery to debride and clear the wound.

In the People interview, Philipps shared the impact her cancer diagnosis had on her two daughters, Birdie, 17, and Cricket, 13, whom she shares with Silverstein, 55.

“[Birdie] was kind of beside herself and really, really scared and overwhelmed with emotion,” Philipps said. “I just kept saying to her, ‘Birdie, you’re just not in the movie where your mom dies your senior year of high school. That’s just not the movie that you’re in. I promise you.’”

The actress said Cricket processed the news in a calmer way than her eldest child.

‘OK. You’re going to be fine?’ And I was like, ‘I’m totally going to be fine,’” Philipps said. “And she’s like, ‘OK.’”

Migrants Hoist Dolphin Into Air After It’s Hit With a Stick

A group of undocumented migrants in Ceuta has been accused of seizing a young dolphin in shallow water, striking it with a stick and potentially causing its death.

Disturbing video circulating online appears to show several men surrounding the marine animal before hoisting it above their heads as if in celebration, while people nearby cheer. Moments later, angry residents can be seen challenging the group.

In the footage, one local repeatedly yells, “No! No! No!” and warns the men that touching or eating the dolphin is against the law.

The incident has prompted outrage online, with a petition launched calling for the individuals involved to be identified and prosecuted.

The men are believed to be among the estimated 72,500 migrants who swam from Morocco into Ceuta, Spain’s North African enclave, during July.

The calf is thought to have been swimming close to the shore before being pulled from the water and struck on the head with a stick by one of the group, according to local newspaper El Faro de Ceuta.

The outlet said a local worker witnessed the incident and intervened, telling the group not to hit or handle the animal and to call an animal rescue service.

Nadia Garcia Gomez, who launched the petition, said in a post alongside a photo of one of the migrants holding up the calf: ‘On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, a disoriented dolphin calf swimming near the shore at Trampolin Beach, in Ceuta, was brutally pulled from the water.

‘The shocking images shared on social media show those responsible displaying the cetacean’s lifeless body as if it were a trophy.

‘This act of extreme and unjustifiable cruelty cannot go unpunished.

‘Dolphins are strictly protected species under Spanish and European laws, and mistreatment of them constitutes a serious criminal offence.’

Referencing the Civil Guard’s specialised environmental protection unit called Seprona, she added: ‘Therefore, we are launching this petition to demand that the Government Delegation in Ceuta, the Department of the Environment and SEPRONA act with the utmost urgency.

‘We demand that all necessary resources be used to formally identify those involved in this killing and that the full weight of the law fall upon them, applying the maximum penalties for the crime of animal abuse resulting in death.’

A Spaniard who tried to intervene could be overheard shouting: ‘They’ve just caught a dolphin, that’s a dolphin, you can’t touch it’.

The man yelled as two of the men lifted the animal above their heads and were egged on by others cheering and laughing behind them: ‘No, no, no, you can’t do that, you can’t do that, sons of b*****s.’

Although it wasn’t immediately clear what the intentions of the migrants were, he added: ‘It’s a dolphin. You can’t eat it.’

The migrants signalled to him that the dolphin was dead, with one making a throat-slitting gesture with his hand although one of the group appeared to try to return it to the water despite its condition.

The Good Samaritan Spaniard raged as he left the beach after claims by the North Africans they weren’t to blame for its apparent death: ‘The beach has miraculously killed a dolphin, with blood on its head.

‘There you have it, they’ve killed a protected species and a baby dolphin on top of this.’

A group of young migrants were later filmed taking the animal behind the breakwater blocks on the beach, which was turned into a makeshift camp following the mass border breach in July.

It was not clear today what had happened to the dolphin.

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets on Wednesday across Spain to show their support for Ceuta and protest at the government’s handling of the ongoing crisis.

Although most of the migrants who swam into Ceuta returned home shortly afterwards, thousands remained and many are sleeping rough because there is no room for them in temporary holding centres.

Ceuta and Melilla, another Spanish North African enclave 250 miles to the east along Morocco’s northern Mediterranean coast, have the EU’s only two land borders with Africa.

Yesterday it emerged that a Spanish woman living in Ceuta had been arrested after allegedly stabbing a man believed to be a Moroccan migrant inside her home.

Police have revealed the victim was ‘undocumented’ and was believed to be aged between 25 and 30.

He has been described as a cousin of the alleged killer.

On Monday prosecutors in Ceuta revealed 23 alleged sexual assaults including five rapes have been reported since thousands of migrants spilled over the Moroccan border.

Nine of the alleged victims are female children and teenagers aged between 14 and 17 and another is a gay man, officials said.

Eight men are being investigated, four Moroccans, three Spaniards and a Belgian national, but in the rest of the cases no-one has been arrested or identified.

A Florida man accused of telling airline staff he had a “bomb” as he attempted to board an international flight later claimed the remark was only a joke, authorities said.

Yoel Guevara-Crespo, 33, was arrested Monday on a charge of making a false report about a bomb. An arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime says Guevara-Crespo was getting ready to board an American Airlines flight from Miami International Airport to Camagüey, Cuba, when a ticket agent asked routine pre-boarding security questions. When asked whether he was carrying lithium batteries or any incendiary devices, police say he gave an answer that immediately raised alarm.

According to investigators, Guevara-Crespo told the American Airlines ticket agent, “No, but I have a bomb.”

After his arrest, Guevara-Crespo was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He later posted a $2,500 bond and was released Wednesday. Court records available online did not list his next court date, but they show he was ordered to stay away from Miami International Airport.

Maria Bartiromo Reportedly Iced Out at Fox News Weeks Before Firing

Maria Bartiromo was reportedly frozen out inside Fox Business before her departure, with staff members allegedly instructed not to speak with the veteran anchor in the weeks leading up to her firing.

Bartiromo, 58, a longtime fixture at the network, was abruptly dismissed from Fox News on Thursday. The company announced the move in a terse press release, saying it had “parted ways” with the anchor.

According to Status News, the breaking point was an allegation that Bartiromo shared a confidential internal memo with President Donald Trump concerning Fox News’ decision to scale back coverage of his claims that the 2020 election had been stolen from him.

However, sources told Mediaite that the alleged leak was “not the only reason” behind her firing. Inside Fox News, they said, the move did not come as a shock, with members of Bartiromo’s team reportedly “freaking out” for weeks over the future of her programs.

Network insiders told the outlet that Bartiromo’s relationship with Fox executives had deteriorated because of a “confluence of factors,” including repeated editorial disputes about the direction of her shows.

This reportedly included her role in Fox’s $787 million settlement to Dominion Voting Systems in 2023 over its peddling of Trump’s election claims, and several botched interviews on the air this year.

As Bartiromo’s relationship with Fox bosses reportedly fell apart, sources said her staff were barred from even speaking with her, while she laid low in the Hamptons and was ‘nowhere to be found.’

Bartiromo was reportedly so un-reachable that it was ‘like she was undercover’, with her future in limbo for weeks before she was ultimately fired this week.

Sources said that while Bartiromo’s alleged leak to Trump may have been the final straw, she had been clashing with executives for some time.

Alongside her role in peddling Trump’s 2020 election fraud claims that led to the huge settlement with Dominion, another similar lawsuit from Smartmatic that is ‘still hanging out there’ had also been hurting her status at the network.

At the time she sent the White House the guidance, Bartiromo was also reportedly seeking to pursue a new story related to China and the 2020 election and Trump’s claims of Chinese interference, according to Puck.

Amid the breakdown of Bartiromo’s relationship with Fox executives, her staff were then ordered not to even attempt to speak with her.

‘In order to talk to her, you had to go to management,’ the source said, adding that her staff had known for weeks that ‘something was up.’

‘People were freaking out,’ the source said.

As Bartiromo was booted from the network, her longtime producer Patrick Ignozzi was also ousted, Puck News reported.

Amid reports that she leaked classified internal information to the Trump administration, the president quickly defended her on Thursday in a Truth Social post.

‘I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great shows on Fox News/ Business,’ Trump wrote.

‘Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior.

‘Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!’

Bartiromo was since reportedly hired attorney Bryan Freedman to guide her through her termination, after the high-powered lawyer previously represented other major ousted news personalities including Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon.

She was quickly removed from Fox News’ website, with her bio page and show content erased from online.

Her shows, Mornings With Maria and Sunday Morning Futures, are now set to be hosted by a rotating cast of anchors and Fox personalities in the coming weeks.
