Tennessee Death Row Inmate Shares Final Words with Son during Execution

0

On Thursday, a Tennessee inmate on death row met his fate via lethal injection, with his final words directed at a long-lost son who was there to witness the somber moment.

Anthony Hines, 66, shortly before his execution for the brutal 1985 murder of 54-year-old mother of four Catherine Jean Jenkins, reportedly told this son, “Say ‘hello’ to my son,” as per the Associated Press.

Hines and his son had a poignant reunion just four days before the execution, having last seen each other when the boy was merely three. Their meeting took place at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution located in Nashville.

Witnesses noted that Hines appeared to struggle, making groaning sounds and breathing heavily before he was declared dead at precisely 10:43 a.m.

Among those present was Dennis Jenkins, the son of the victim, who expressed a wish that Hines would experience “severe pain” during his final moments.

Dennis said his mother had only a plastic spray bottle to defend herself when she was murdered by Hines.

HInes was convicted of fatally stabbing Jenkins while she was working as a motel maid in Kingston Springs.

“I hope he felt severe pain because what he did to my mother is nothing compared to what he may have just gone through,” Dennis said of Hines.

Hines had unsuccessfully appealed his sentence, claiming the doctor overseeing the execution was incompetent and likely to botch the procedure.

Three inmates were put to death Thursday — marking the first triple execution in the United States in 16 years.

Murderers on death row in Oklahoma and Alabama were also executed through lethal injection.

Typically, there is only one execution scheduled per day, with two executions being rare — but three is “very unusual,” Death Penalty Information Center Executive Director Robin Maher told USA Today.

Death penalty observers say that double or triple executions are purely coincidental timing.

Ex-Wife of Michigan Gunman Breaks Silence Following Tragic Mass Shooting

0

In the aftermath of a tragic incident in Michigan, the former wife of a man accused of multiple murders has reassured that she and their trio of children are unharmed and safe.

Chad Hickman, aged 39, is suspected of fatally shooting three individuals at a residence on LaChance Road, Lake Township last Friday before making his getaway.

Officers responded swiftly following a distress call from an unidentified 13-year-old girl. She reported being shot in the arm, which led authorities to the location. There, they discovered three deceased victims and another seriously wounded person.

The disturbing scene triggered an extensive manhunt for Hickman, deemed ‘armed and dangerous’ by Michigan State Police.

During their search, police uncovered a fourth victim’s body in a different home. Shortly after, they came across Hickman’s deserted vehicle near Whitlock Lake, abandoned in the woods.

Authorities then decided to scour the area with a K9 team, when they discovered Hickman’s body – along with another deceased victim.

Police have not yet released the identities of those killed in the rampage or how they were related to Hickman, but a profile apparently belonging to Hickman’s ex-wife posted that she and their three children were safe from the rampage.

‘Just want to let everyone know that me and the kids are safe,’ she posted.

‘And thank you all for loving and caring for me and my family as much as you all do. We love you all.’

The ex-wife, Katie, initiated divorce proceedings in 2023, according to records obtained by the Detroit News.

A motive for the killings remains while authorities work to piece together exactly what happened, though authorities have said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

‘Not only is this difficult for our investigators and our troopers, but it’s very hard for this community. You know, this type of loss is tragic,’ Michigan State Police Public Information Officer Ashley Miller told Up North Live.

She then vowed that troopers are ‘going to conduct a thorough investigation, and we want to make sure to keep our community members up to date on our current situation and what we’re discovering throughout this process.’

As the investigation now continues, state Representative Ken Borton offered his condolences.

‘Please join me in praying for our Northern Michigan community tonight after the unspeakable acts of violence we saw unfold today, especially send prayers for the six families who lost a loved one today and pray that an additional person, currently fighting for their life, will pull through and make a full recovery,’ he posted on social media.

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson also posted that she is ‘devastated to hear about the tragic shooting that occurred this afternoon in Missaukee County.

‘As we await more details, my prayers are with the family and loved ones of the victims and the entire Northern Michigan community.’

Governor Gretchen Whitmer also said she was briefed on the shooting and was monitoring the situation.

‘My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the Missaukee community,’ she said.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated.

Chicago Funeral Home Mystery: Latest Identified Bodies Unveiled

0

CHICAGO (WLS) — In a gathering marked by grief and frustration, families reeling from the grim discovery of numerous decomposing bodies at South Chicago Chapel convened in Morgan Park for a community forum. It was an opportunity to consult with legal experts and explore available services, though many attendees expressed they still lack crucial information about their loved ones.

Concurrently, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is diligently working to release the names of 56 deceased individuals found in varying states of decomposition. As of Friday, officials confirmed that identities of at least 33 bodies had been internally established.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

One of the identified individuals is Jacklyn Russ’s mother, who passed away in 2024. Russ entrusted South Chicago Chapel with her mother’s funeral services but never viewed the body prior to burial, leading to persistent uncertainty and questions that continue to haunt her.

“It’s troubling not knowing if my mom is actually in the ground,” Russ shared, speaking candidly during the forum designed to support families caught in this distressing situation.

Russ represents just one of the many voices seeking clarity amid ongoing investigations into South Chicago Chapel and the associated Bohemian National Cemetery, as affected families strive to piece together the full scope of the unfolding revelations.

Authorities said 56 decomposing bodies and more than 50 sets of cremated remains were discovered at South Chicago Chapel last week. Investigators are also examining connections between the funeral home’s operators, Clark and Johanna Morgan, and Bohemian National Cemetery and Crematorium.

At a community forum, crisis responders and attorneys met with families to hear their concerns and discuss legal options.

“So families right now they’re kind of in a holding pattern, just wanting to know … where is my loved one? Is this my loved one I have in this urn?” said Lisette Guillen, the Executive Director of Case Files Chicago.

“All of them are angry, all of them are sad, all of them are in the state of shock,” Guillen said.

Sisters Marshawna and Franquella Campbell said they continue to question whether the ashes they received after their mother’s death in April were authentic.

“We’re dealing with grief after grief after grief. We can’t heal because we don’t know where our loved-ones’ bodies are,” Marshawna Campbell said.

Franquella Campbell said she immediately doubted the ashes presented to her family.

“When the lady put that urn in front of us, I said that’s not my momma. I told her straight, like that’s not my momma,” she said.

Marshawna Campbell also expressed concerns about the ashes.

“It looked like gravel, like they grinded up some rocks and put it in a bag,” she said.

The Campbells were among several families attending the forum.

Christine White said it took more than four months to receive her son’s ashes in 2024. She also alleged the funeral home refused to accept payment from the state’s victims compensation fund and made errors in paperwork related to her son’s death.

“When I finally looked at the death certificate, it didn’t have the funeral home I went to on 95th. It had the one in Chicago Heights,” White said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says it has identified 33 of the 56 bodies found at the funeral home.

Among those identified was Raymond Delgado, who died after a shooting last month in Gary that also killed his 10-year-old nephew, Montana Weathers.

Delgado’s daughter, who asked not to be identified, said the funeral home was shut down the day before her father’s scheduled funeral there.

“And then this on top of that, it’s a lot. It’s traumatic,” she said.

She said the closure prevented her family from properly saying goodbye.

“They’ve robbed me of grieving, saying goodbye to him, his belongings,” she said.

Delgado’s daughter also said she was unable to view her father’s body at the medical examiner’s office.

“I just wanted to see him, and the medical examiner told me no … that if I wanted to see him I would have to set up another funeral with a different funeral home,” she said.

Unable to afford arrangements for a second funeral, she said her father will be cremated by the medical examiner’s office.

According to the Illinois Office of Comptroller, inspectors visiting Bohemian National Cemetery and Crematorium in July and found human remains that were not stored at proper temperatures, along with refrigeration and cremation equipment that wasn’t working.

The state comptroller’s office said 35 bodies at the facility were awaiting cremation. Officials also said at least 22 of those bodies have been tied to the owners of South Chicago Chapel and Planet Green Cremations in Glenwood, a storefront also owned by the Morgans.

Guillen said the number of families affected may continue to grow as the investigation progresses.

“So this thing is barely you know the tip of the iceberg and unfortunately there are so many families affected,” she said.

ABC7 reached out to Bohemian National Cemetery and the owners of South Chicago Chapel for comment, but did not hear back.

The Illinois Office of Comptroller said its investigation into Bohemian National Cemetery is ongoing and that possible fines and license suspensions are being considered.

MEMORISE: Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: – Exodus 19:5 (KJV)

READ: Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 37-39

Open Heaven 15 August 2026 MESSAGE

Holiness is living a life that reflects God’s character, and it is the major weight of a covenant with Him. Anyone who is in a covenant with God must be like Him (1 Peter 1:16), and this requires doing all that He asks. In return, the fellow will get many blessings from Him (Deuteronomy 28:1-14).

Some people think that life will become a bed of roses when they become believers; however, Jesus never promised that. In today’s Bible reading. He said that everyone who comes to Him should carry His yoke. This means that being a child of God does not mean that a fellow will not bear any weight of God’s covenant, only that the weight will be light and easy to carry with the help of the Holy Spirit. Philippians 2:13 says: “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” God is willing and able to help you fulfil the terms of your covenant with Him if you allow Him.

When you enter into a covenant with God, you will no longer be permitted to do many of the things that unbelievers do. For them, those things may be right, but not for you. Paul said that although all things are lawful, not all things are expedient (1 Corinthians 10:23). Some people may argue that listening to worldly music is not a sin; however, for someone who has made a covenant with God, it is wrong. Some may dress seductively, but God will not approve of you dressing like that. You will get stricter instructions because of your covenant with God, but He will always empower you to obey Him.

The good news is that if you carry the weight of God’s covenant well, you will enjoy its fruits forever. God entered into a covenant with my Father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi and gave him certain conditions, and in return, He said that He would start a church through him that would spread around the world. Thank God Pa Akindayomi met those conditions, and when he passed away, God proceeded to fulfil His part of the covenant. Beloved, play your own part; carry the light yoke of God’s covenant of salvation and see Him move into action to fulfil His part of the covenant by showering you with His blessings. I pray that your life will be filled with God’s glorious blessings, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 15 August 2026 HYMN 14 – O What A Wonderful, Wonderful Day

1 O what a wonderful, wonderful day
Day I will never forget;
After I’d wandered in darkness away
Jesus my Saviour I met
O what a tender, compassionate friend
He met the need of my heart;
Shadows dispelling, with joy I am telling,
He made all the darkness depart!

Refrain:
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul
When at the cross my Saviour made me whole
My sins were washed away, and my night was turned to day
Heaven came down and glory tilled my soul

2 Born of the Spirit with life from above
Into God’s fam’ly divine
Justified fully thru Calvary’s love
O what a standing is mine
And the transaction so quickly was made
When as a sinner I came
Took of the offer of grace He did proffer
He saved me, O praise His dear name

3 Now I’ve hope that will surely endure
After the passing of time;
I have a future in Heaven for sure
There in those mansions sublime
And it’s because of that wonderful day
When at the cross I believed;
Riches eternal and blessings supernal
From His precious hand received.

4 Standing on the promises of Christ, the Lord,
Bound to him eternally by love’s strong
cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

DCLM Daily Manna 15 August 2026 — Quest For Revival

DCLM Daily Manna 15 August 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Quest For Revival

TOPIC – Quest For Revival (DCLM Daily Manna 15 August 2026)

KEY VERSE: O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy” – Habakkuk 3:2

TEXT: Habakkuk 3:1-2 (KJV)

1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.

2 O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Reviewing the history of revivals in Christendom, English author and theologian, Os Guinness, states that these spontaneous supernatural acts occur during turbulent times. Examining the periods of the Christian Reformation, Revival, and Renaissance, he concludes that the darkest hour is often just before the dawn. Consequently, we should always be people of hope and prayer rather than gloom and defeatism. God can turn the situation around in a moment.

The cleric took lessons from the experience of Habakkuk, the prophet who was struck with terror on learning from the Lord that the land of Judah would be attacked by the fierce Chaldean troops from Babylon. Already disturbed by the iniquities of injustice and impunity around him, on which he expected the Lord to act, Habakkuk was now informed that more disquietude was on the way. The prophet was made to understand that even the Chaldeans, who were to be used as an instrument of punishment, were themselves to face the wrath of God for their wickedness. His anxiety was relieved when he realised that the God of mercy he served was at the point of reviving His people in the process. He went on to intercede for precisely that.

With humanity now also traumatised by sporadic assaults coming through technological inventions like Artificial Intelligence (AI), wars, insecurity, dysfunctional governance, threats of nuclear conflagration, there are fears that man is on the brink, looking into the bottomless abyss. Really? Not so. The Christian is challenged, rather, like Habakkuk, to plead for revival amid the turmoil. It is the hour to ask for an unprecedented move of God’s Spirit in the world, an event that should usher multitudes to repentance and turning to Christ for succour in trying times.

The Lord’s second coming is imminent, going by the signs we are witnessing. It is a timely call for vigilant heaven-seeking Christians to strengthen their commitment to holiness, evangelism, study of God’s word, fellowship, and acts of kindness. We shouldn’t be despondent as we observe the events that signal the end-time; instead, we should discern revival on the horizon.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Current global upheavals are not for our anxiety, but for our action.

Rhapsody Of Realities 15 August 2026: Make Full Proof Of The Life In You

Rhapsody Of Realities 15 August 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Make Full Proof Of The Life In You

TOPIC: Make Full Proof Of The Life In You (Rhapsody of Realities 15 August 2026)

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry – 2 Timothy 4:5

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

In 1 Timothy 6:12, Paul, by the Spirit, gave a most remarkable admonition, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life….” Eternal life is your present-hour possession in Christ Jesus. However, God didn’t give you eternal life for it to remain a doctrine you confess.

Rather, He wants that life manifested in and through you. He wants you to make full proof of the divine life in you. Bring it into evidence. Demonstrate it. Let it be seen in your life. The life you’ve received in Christ isn’t dormant; rather, it responds to your consciousness and your participation.

Philemon 1:6 says, “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” Every so often, acknowledge that the life of God is in you. Your consciousness or certainty of it produces boldness; boldness to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, knowing that nothing shall by any means hurt you, just as the Bible says. Your words, your actions, and your responses become the proof that the life in you is real.

The Lord Jesus said, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mark 16:17-18). These are some of the proofs or signs that accompany those who have eternal life.

We’re victors in Christ Jesus, triumphant always, in all things and in every place. The life in you brings healing, deliverance and transformation to those in need. When you speak, things change. When you act, the divine life is manifested. This is your calling: to manifest the life of God so clearly that it becomes undeniable. And as you do, your life becomes a testimony of His power, His nature and His glory. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the gift of eternal life in me. I make full proof of this life today, expressing your nature, manifesting your power, and walking in dominion over circumstances. My life is a testimony of your glory and righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Wall Exercises: Firm Upper Body Faster Than Push-Ups After 55

0

Incorporating wall exercises into your routine can significantly enhance upper-body strength while simultaneously challenging your core stability.

>

If wall exercises are new to your fitness vocabulary, it’s time to explore this innovative approach. Utilizing a wall for support and resistance, these exercises include wall push-ups, wall sits, and wall angels. They offer a convenient, low-impact method to boost strength at home without any equipment. Notably, they also help improve posture and lower blood pressure while being gentle on the joints, making them an excellent option for older individuals.

“Traditional floor push-ups primarily target upper-body pressing strength, yet wall variations also engage controlled scapular movement, upright posture, and core stability. To escalate the challenge, you can adjust your distance from the wall, change the speed of each repetition, or gradually progress to using a countertop and eventually the floor,” advises Dr. Mariam Zakhary, DO, Clinical Advisor at Ikon Recovery Center in New Jersey, who holds double board certification in Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Sports Medicine.

If you’re over 55 and looking to enhance and tone your upper body, these five wall exercises are an ideal place to start.

Wall Push-ups

The wall push-up is a productive way to train your shoulders, triceps, and chest—especially if you don’t feel strong enough to perform traditional push-ups on the ground.

“This exercise is also great because you can change the angle at which you lean against the wall based on how strong you are. As you get stronger, you can do wall push-ups with your feet further back. This causes your body to lean more forward, making the movement harder,” explains Domenic Angelino, MS, MPH, CSCS, CPT, Chief Exercise Scientist at FitCraft.

  1. Begin standing tall, arms-length away from a wall.
  2. Place your hands shoulder-width apart on the surface.
  3. Engage your core and bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the wall.
  4. Press back up to the starting position, keeping the movement slow and controlled.

Over 40? If You Can Do This Many Wall Pushups, Your Strength Is Above Average

Wall Diamond Push-ups

This push-up variation places more emphasis on your triceps than your chest.

“This helps balance out the standard version of the wall push-up that is more chest-focused,” Angelino explains. “This variant is also very helpful because it is harder to balance while doing than a standard wall push-up. When you do a normal wall push-up, your hands are spread out, so you have a pretty wide base of support to hold your body. In the diamond wall push-up, your hands are together, so you’re balancing your upper body over that much smaller point. Being more balance focused engages your core stabilizer muscles more.”

  1. Begin standing tall, arms-length away from a wall.
  2. Place your hands on the surface at chest level, bringing your thumbs and index finger together to form a diamond or triangle shape.
  3. Step your feet back so your body is straight from head to heels.
  4. Engage your core and bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the wall. Keep your elbows close to your sides as you do so.
  5. Press back up to the starting position, keeping the movement slow and controlled.

The 6-Minute Morning Routine That Restores Posture Faster Than the Gym After 60

Wall Angels

Wall angels help you train your triceps and shoulders in a manner that translates to real-life movement—like reaching up to grab something on a high shelf.

“The wall helps you do the movement in a way that is easier to keep slow and controlled, which helps you do the exercise more intentionally,” Angelino tells us. “As you get better at it, you can add weight to it. That’s something that can’t be said for a lot of wall exercises out there. All you have to do is put small weights in your hands and increase how heavy they are as you get stronger.”

  1. Stand tall with your back pressed against a wall, your elbows bent to 90 degrees, and the backs of your hands against the wall.
  2. Slowly reach your arms overhead while pressing your arms into the wall and keeping your core engaged throughout.
  3. Lower your arms.
  4. Use control to return to the start position.

If You Can Complete These 4 Exercises Without Stopping After 50, Your Body Strength Is Exceptional

Wall Plank Shoulder Taps

“Wall plank shoulder taps work to train the core and help the shoulder stabilizers resist rotation,” Dr. Zakhary explains.

  1. Begin by standing tall facing a wall, about arm’s length away from the surface.
  2. Place your palms flat against the wall at shoulder level, shoulder-distance apart.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Lift your right hand and tap your left shoulder.
  5. Return that palm to the wall.
  6. Then, lift your left hand and tap your right shoulder.
  7. Return to the wall and continue to alternate.

Are Pushups Every Day Enough to Build Upper-Body Strength?

Shocking NYC Synagogue Attack: How Safety Was Breached

0

A disturbing antisemitic incident unfolded at a Manhattan synagogue on Friday evening, as a man violently interrupted the service. The attacker, described by police as acting with extreme hatred, assaulted a member of the congregation and headbutted a security guard.

Authorities have identified the alleged assailant as 46-year-old Larry Montes, who reportedly stormed Central Synagogue, located at Lexington Avenue and East 55th Street, amidst Shabbat services.

Witnesses reported that Montes approached the front of the synagogue around 6 p.m., behaving disorderly according to law enforcement sources.

Security personnel attempted to remove him from the premises, but not before Montes allegedly punched a 63-year-old congregant in the face, as confirmed by the sources.

In addition to the physical assault, Montes is accused of headbutting and spitting at a security guard, as well as damaging two religious candles, each valued at $20,000.

An NYPD sergeant working a paid detail at the house of worship took Montes into custody.

The alleged antisemite was charged with two counts of assault as a hate crime and one count of criminal mischief as a hate crime.

“I have spoken with the rabbi of the synagogue, and I’m relieved that no one was seriously injured,” NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a statement.

“There are no known additional threats at this time, and additional NYPD resources have been deployed to the synagogue,” added Tisch, who attended the same synagogue as a kid.

Tisch said she spoke to the synagogue’s rabbi following the incident and confirmed “those who were hurt were evaluated at the scene and are doing well.”

“I understand the sanctity of this space and its meaning for congregants. Central Synagogue is where I grew up,” the commissioner wrote.

“In joy and in sorrow, it has always been a place of comfort and peace. What happened there tonight is deeply painful. A place of worship should never be a crime scene.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul called the assault “appalling” and is “grateful the suspect is in custody and that no one was seriously injured.”

“Jewish New Yorkers have every right to worship openly, proudly, and without fear,” Hochul wrote on X.

Similarly, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he was “horrified by the assault at Central Synagogue.”

“I can only imagine the pain and fear an attack like this, during Shabbat services, causes for the congregation and for Jewish New Yorkers across our city,” Hizzoner said.

“Every New Yorker must be able to observe their religion without fear of violence. This despicable act has no place in our city, and our administration will do everything in our power to keep Jewish New Yorkers safe.”

Attorney General Letitia James said her “heart is with the Central Synagogue community this evening.”

“The assault during services at Central Synagogue today is appalling and unacceptable,” James said on X.

“No one should feel threatened in their place of worship.”
