The upcoming film Forgotten Outlaw, which was set to feature Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte, has been placed on hold following his death at age 34 on Monday.

Mitte was attached to star in the Nik Tizekker project, which was in pre-production when it was paused after the actor died by suicide, according to TMZ.

Tizekker told the publication that he intends to continue with the movie as a way of honoring Mitte’s wishes.

The director said Mitte had been ideally suited to the part, citing both his grasp of the character and his physical likeness to the real-life figure he was due to portray.

For now, production remains suspended. The filmmakers plan to recast Mitte’s role at a later stage while also seeking additional financing for the film—an effort Mitte had been helping with before his death.

Tizekker also disclosed that he and Mitte had been developing a limited series called Like It Was Yesterday, centered on near-death experiences.

Mitte had already filmed scenes with actress Catherine Carlen, who was playing his mother in the project.

The series was roughly 50 percent complete when Mitte died.

Tizekker said he hopes to release Like It Was Yesterday in the future, provided he can obtain the necessary funding.

The update follows comments from podcaster Joe Vulpis, who interviewed Mitte two weeks before his death. Speaking to TMZ, Vulpis said he was shocked by the news.

Vulpis recalled that Mitte had been discussing plans for the future when they met to record the podcast.

He remembered the actor as “so positive” and “one of the most kind and genuine people [he] got to speak with.”

“His passing is super surprising because he was so grounded and down to earth,” Vulpis added.

The podcaster said he and Mitte continued spending time together after recording the interview. During those conversations, Mitte spoke about upcoming work, his charitable activities and the projects he hoped to pursue.

Mitte also told Vulpis that he had recently joined another film and was promoting his project Talking to Strangers.

During what became his final interview with Vulpis, Mitte also looked back on his defining role as Walter White Jr. in Breaking Bad.

Mitte was featured on The Joe Vulpis Podcast on October 5, where he discussed starring alongside Bryan Cranston, 70, in the hit TV show, admitted that watching himself on screen would make him ‘spiral’ and shared his thoughts on where his character would be today.

Breaking Bad – which ran for five seasons – centered on Walter White (Cranston) a high school chemistry teacher who turns to producing methamphetamine after being diagnosed with cancer. 

Mitte played Walter’s teenage son, who has cerebral palsy, a condition the actor also had in real life.

In his final interview, Mitte shared that the ‘most complicated’ scene he had to film came during a phone call with his onscreen father. 

‘I really think for me one of the most complicated scenes that I’ve had to do was that final phone call… It’s the last time he talks to him. In reality, I didn’t understand it as much as I do now.’

‘But I still had a lot of pressure and felt a lot of pressure in trying to make sure that was right. And where it set, and the tones, and the confusion, and the different levels of that.’

He went on: ‘Because he’s now hearing this in his school. He’s hearing it from people. He’s been stained by this reputation of Heisenberg. And it’s like, I don’t know who Heisenberg is. Wait, that’s my dad. That’s my father, and he killed my uncle. Like he’s a murderer.’

‘And so that realization for him was something that I really wanted to make sure that I met those criteria. And you know, listening to the directors, listening to Vince [Gilligan], and really Bryan [Cranston] was there that day as well.’ 

‘He was in the room when we did that scene. So really kind of figuring out how to do that scene justice.’ 

Mitte also said that he didn’t like watching himself onscreen, because any mistake would make him ‘spiral.’

‘I find for me it doesn’t help me. I dwell in it. I’m someone that when I mess up or like something happens, I dwell and I spiral. Where it’s like, what could I have done differently? How could I have done that differently?’

He said he had only watched the first episode of every season and the last episode of the last season. 

Vulpis also asked Mitte where he thought Walt Jr and the rest of Walter’s family would be today.

Mitte said: ‘I don’t think it’s a good place. I really don’t see Skyler, Walt Jr and Holly are in the best position now. I would like to think what everyone wants: Walt Jr got the money and Walt Jr is following in the footsteps and all these things.’

‘In reality, I see it more like a sadness and a despair, and that they don’t get the money. Because you know when DEA comes in, especially to a man like Walter White, like Heisenberg, who isn’t just some small nobody but a global distributor destroying millions of lives, they don’t just let the family go. They don’t just go, “Okay, well he’s dead, or he’s gone. Y’all have a great life now.”‘

‘It’s like, no, you’re under lock and key. They’re watching you. They’re making sure that none of his aliases come back.’

He said his audition for Breaking Bad was ‘one of the longest auditions of my life’ adding that it lasted ‘over six months.’ 

Mitte also said that playing Walt Jr was ‘unbelievable’ and that the role was ‘truly a life-changing.’ 

‘You know, back then we really didn’t realize how impactful the show was going to be. And you know, I spent my teenage life in Breaking Bad.’ 

Elsewhere in the interview Mitte said that he believed that wasn’t the end of the story for his character and White’s family: ‘I don’t think it was the end. That was really the end of Heisenberg’s journey but I don’t think that was the end of Skyler, Walt, and Holly’s journey.’

‘I think there’s a lot of unanswered questions there that for them, will probably never be answered. And so I think there’s still a big step for the White family.’

‘There’s more to be told,’ the interviewer said.

‘There’s always more to be told,’ he added. ‘But you got to tell it right!’ he said. ‘Again, if something happens in the future with the show… the fans control that, really, truly, like, the fans control what continues to get made.’

‘I think it’d go right to the top,’ the interviewer said. ‘Top of Netflix, top of wherever it’s streaming.’

‘I want to top Breaking Bad,’ he said. ‘That’s the hardest… I set a bar for myself as a young man that is kind of unobtainable. And I tell people, I say, look, it’s a long way down from the top of the mountain.’

He also gave advice to other aspiring young actors, stating, ‘Make sure you like it, because in this industry, everyone sees the final product. Everyone sees the final like, “oh it’s amazing.” But like no one realizes how strenuous it is and how much actually goes into it, and the long hours, and especially when you’re not doing anything.’ 

A county official confirmed to TMZ that Mitte died on Monday in Texas – and that a death investigation is ongoing. The publication reported that Mitte died by suicide.  

Mitte appeared in 56 episodes of Breaking Bad from 2008-2013 and had also appeared in The Recall and The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!).

He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy aged three and advocated for actors and those working in the entertainment industry with disabilities.

His representative told the publication, ‘It is with profound sadness we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte.

‘RJ Mitte was best known for his role as Walter ‘Flynn’ White Jr. on AMC’s critically acclaimed, award-winning series Breaking Bad.’

‘Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion. Beyond entertaining friends and family around the world, he served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.’

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Mitte and the Brownsville Police Department for further comment.

Emmy-winning Breaking Bad – which also starred Aaron Paul as White’s former inept student turned collaborator Jesse Pinkman – ran from 2008 to 2013 and garnered widespread acclaim from both fans and critics around the world.

Mitte’s shock death comes a year after the actor got engaged to his girlfriend Kennedy Suarez on her 30th birthday.

‘I’m thrilled to have found my person, my partner in life who makes me want to be better, no matter what we’re doing,’ Mitte told People.

He gushed, ‘Kennedy is my everything and I can’t wait to officially start our life together and see what adventures life takes us on next.’

Mitte proposed at the 56th annual Dia del Sol 2025 benefit in Carlsbad, California. The fundraising event benefitted United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of San Diego, for which he is an ambassador.

Following the engagement, Suarez took to Instagram to write, ‘My 30th felt like a fairytale…. I have the man of my dreams by my side & we are doing what we love most — helping others.’

The pair lived in Brownsville, Texas, and the actor was president of The Mitte Foundation, his family’s Austin-based charity.

The Foundation rejuvenates and funds South Texas-based marginalized communities.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders affecting movement, posture, and balance due to abnormal brain development or damage.

Symptoms range from muscle stiffness and poor motor control to difficulties with balance and coordination.

During his life, Mitte called for larger representation of disabled actors on television and said he ‘utilized everything’ he knew about his disability for Breaking Bad.

‘I wouldn’t be in the position I am in today without my disability,’ he told the Irish Examiner in 2016. ‘I utilized everything I know about living with cerebral palsy for my role in Breaking Bad.’

‘We know lots of progress is being made but the industry must do more to help disabled people work both in front of and behind the camera,’ he said. ‘During the Paralympics there will be more disabled people than ever before on TV but this shouldn’t be something that just happens every four years.’

‘I would love to switch on my TV and see a disabled person talking about something they are genuinely interested in or acting out a part that doesn’t just focus on their impairment.’

In 2019, five years after Breaking Bad, Mitte admitted he still missed being a part of the show’s cast.

‘That’s going to follow me ’til the day I die,’ he told The Sydney Morning Herald as he reflected on his time on the hit AMC series.

The role took Mitte’s career to a whole new level and ‘opened a lot of doors’ for him.

‘Breaking Bad put me on the map,’ he told The Independent in 2021. ‘You’re only talking to me today because of it. None of my projects would exist without that show and the opportunity it gave me. It really opened a lot of doors for me. I wouldn’t have the media profile and the following that I have today without Walter White Jr. I would just be some kid who lives in Texas.’

Mitte hails from Mississippi and was six-years-old when he found out he was adopted.

‘I was about six when I was told that I was adopted.,’ he told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2019. ‘My stepbrother heard my mom and my then-stepdad talking and said to me, “You are adopted. They don’t love you.” I didn’t believe him but my parents confirmed that I was. I was like, “Okay.”’

‘I’ve never felt the need to track my birth mother,’ he said. ‘Medically, I’d like to know my family history, but until I feel that need, I have enough family and friends. I don’t need any more.’

Mitte’s mother chose to adopt him as she believed she would be unable to have her own children due to an ovarian cancer diagnosis.

‘The reason Mom adopted me was because she’d had ovarian cancer and was told she couldn’t have children. Then, magically, 11 years later, my sister Lacianne came along.’

A Kentucky teenager has completed the Chicago Marathon less than a year after a devastating spinal injury briefly left him paralyzed from the neck down.

Wyatt Anderson, 17, finished Sunday’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon in 3:56:28. Just months earlier, the high school senior was unsure whether he would ever walk again, ABC News reported.

The injury happened last November during a basketball game with friends. Anderson said he tripped while reaching for a rebound and crashed headfirst into a wall.

The collision fractured his spine and left him unable to move.

“I blacked out right after for a little bit, and I couldn’t move any limb on my body,” Anderson told the outlet.

He underwent spinal fusion surgery and spent months in rehabilitation, gradually relearning how to walk.

“Every single day, it was in the back of my head, I was like, ‘Am I gonna walk again? Am I gonna be able to do the same thing that I was doing two weeks ago, a day ago?’” he said.

During therapy, one of Anderson’s rehabilitation specialists told him about a man who completed 50 marathons in 50 states over the course of a year while using a wheelchair.

“That just, like, blew my mind and motivated me,” Anderson said.

As movement slowly returned through weeks of physical therapy, the story gave him a new objective: not merely to recover, but “to walk or run a marathon within a year.”

Anderson acknowledged that some days offered little reassurance. Still, he focused on the belief that “every day is a step forward” and tried to “just say yes to every opportunity.”

His progress reached an early milestone in April, when he completed the 13.1-mile Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon, Spectrum News reported in July.

That half marathon, however, was only a step toward his larger ambition: finishing the Chicago Marathon.

Anderson began Sunday’s race alongside his brother, Jack Anderson, determined not just to reach the finish line but also to encourage people facing their own challenges.

“I hope my story will help other people want to set a lofty goal for themselves and to believe that nothing’s impossible,” he told ABC News.

“[You] can do anything if you set your mind to it — truly, I mean, coming from someone who couldn’t walk at a time and now is running.”

The brothers also used the marathon to raise money for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, which funds research and provides advocacy and support for people living with spinal cord injuries, ABC News reported.

Their campaign brought in more than $24,000, according to the foundation’s website.

A father died after falling from Georgia’s tallest roller coaster while riding with his son, as his wife and daughter watched in horror from the ground.

The man was aboard the Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia with his son at around 3:58 p.m. Monday when he fell from the train, witnesses said. He struck the ride several times before landing on the roof of a haunted house attraction below.

Several other people were reportedly injured, although officials have not said how many were hurt or disclosed the severity of those injuries.

The theme park was evacuated following the incident.

A witness told 11 Alive that the man’s fall appeared in a souvenir photograph taken on the ride.

“He fell and hit the car three different times,” the witness recalled.

Another witness said the man had been riding with his son, while his wife and daughter were watching from below when the tragedy unfolded.

A third person, who said on Reddit that he was waiting to board, claimed he was next in line when the train involved returned to the station.

“The train pulled into the station, all the riders were distressed, and a man who was sitting next to [the person who died] was screaming that whoever was sitting next to him fell out,” the Reddit user wrote, describing the moment as “very sad and surreal.”

Video showed ride operators evacuating passengers four at a time, helping them leave the cars and reach a nearby staircase.

According to footage posted on social media, the riders had been stranded on a steep section of the track after the attraction was shut down.

A Six Flags spokesperson said officials were “deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today.”

“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest’s family, friends and loved ones,” the spokesperson said. The company added that it was providing support to affected guests and employees.

“The park team and local authorities responded immediately, and we are cooperating fully with local authorities as they complete their investigation,” the spokesperson said.

“Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time.”

Mableton Mayor Michael Owens said city officials were “deeply saddened by the tragic incident at Six Flags Over Georgia today.”

“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the individual’s family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time,” Owens said in a statement. He added that Mableton Public Safety Director Dr. Kerry Stallings was coordinating with Cobb County police and park security in response to the incident.

‘We are grateful to the personnel responding to this incident, and we will continue to support coordination with the appropriate authorities,’ the mayor said.

‘Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, we will refrain from commenting further at this time.’ 

Cobb County Commission Chairwoman Lisa Cupid also called it a ‘terrible tragedy’ as she announced that the man’s next of kin have been notified about his untimely passing.

‘I cannot imagine the horror the patrons and employees witnessed today and my heart aches for the family who lost a loved one,’ she said, asking the public to ‘please keep in your thoughts the family of the deceased, those who were injured, the employees and leadership of Six Flags and our community.

‘We are all grappling with how something so devastating could happen at a place that has given generations of families such happy memories,’ Cupid said. 

It remains unclear what may have caused the tragedy.

The Goliath, which was manufactured by Switzerland-based Bolliger & Mabillard, opened at the park in 2006. It reaches speeds of 70mph with an elevation of 200 feet. 

Six Flags has now closed similar rides throughout the country as the investigation continues.

‘Out of an abundance of caution we have temporarily closed similar attractions across our parks,’ park officials said in a statement.

‘The safety of our guests and team members remains one of our highest priorities.’

The tragedy on Monday comes just one month after Six Flags Magic Mountain in California announced it was demolishing its notorious X2 rollercoaster.

‘While X2 consistently passed a multitude of safety tests, we have decided to close the ride because we believe it’s the right thing to do,’ park President Brian Oerding said in an online announcement. 

‘Ride safety is a cornerstone of our business, and when we see guest confidence affected, we take it seriously.’

The theme park had settled a wrongful-death lawsuit from the family of 22-year-old Christopher Hawley, who died after riding the coaster in 2022, and three other lawsuits alleging traumatic brain injuries were filed.

The ride had then been closed since the evening of July 12, after two women who rode the coaster less than a week apart needed to be rushed to the hospital.

One of them, 25-year-old Naomi Greer-Wilkinson, collapsed shortly after the ride ended and was found to have massive brain bleeding inside the skull that required emergency brain surgery. 

She now remains in a vegetative state in the hospital, unable to speak or move and dependent on a ventilator. 

Her family has filed a lawsuit against Six Flags on her behalf, with her attorneys saying that more than 100 people have claimed they suffered brain injuries from the roller coaster over the past two years.

Another woman, 40-year-old Pamela Guillen, suffered severe brain hemorrhages after riding the X2 at Six Flags in Valencia, California. 

Her daughter, Camille Marquez, told CNN: ‘We got off the cart and we saw my mom. She looked lifeless. Not a thought behind her eyes, nothing.’

More lawsuits would be filed in the coming weeks, the lawyers then vowed.

Two bystanders, including a 1-year-old girl, were injured when gunfire broke out in the Bronx in broad daylight Monday afternoon, police said.

The shooting happened around 4 p.m. outside 726 Courtlandt Ave. in Melrose. A 32-year-old man was struck in the ankle, according to the NYPD.

A bullet fragment also hit a parked 2023 Honda Civic occupied by a teenage girl and a baby, shattering one of the vehicle’s windows, authorities said.

The 16-year-old passenger escaped injury, but flying glass struck the 1-year-old girl and left her with minor wounds, police said.

Emergency medical workers transported both victims to Lincoln Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.

Investigators do not believe either victim was the shooter’s intended target, law enforcement sources said.

Surveillance footage obtained from the scene captures the tense moments leading up to the shooting. A figure dressed entirely in black walks along the block with one hand in a pocket, passing directly in front of the Honda.

The person then pulls out a gun and appears to fire at someone across the street, who is outside the camera’s view, the video shows.

It remains unclear whether the shooter seen in the footage was responsible for breaking the Honda’s window. The figure quickly vanished from the area after the gunfire.

In the video’s dramatic closing moments, a man exits a nearby building, checks on the people inside the Honda and ushers them indoors.

Neighbor Just Moore said he was returning from the grocery store with his 11-month-old child when he encountered the aftermath of the shooting.

“It’s stuff like this that’s the reason I don’t wear headphones when I’m out with her,” Moore said. “You always have to be aware of something that’s going on.”

Moore said he was not shocked to hear about a shooting in the Bronx, but the timing and location caught him off guard because the area is usually quiet.

“It’s a dangerous situation in a relatively quiet area in a relatively quiet time of the day,” he said.

Another local resident, David Valentin, said he was watching television when he heard what sounded like eight to 10 gunshots.

“I said, ‘It sounds like a gun, but it’s school time,’” Valentin recalled, describing the daytime shooting as “crazy.”

“Whatever person did that, they have to find him and get him off the streets. Because that’s dangerous,” he added.

Police sources said the teenager and the infant had no connection to the man wounded in the ankle.

No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
