The U.S. Supreme Court recently rejected appeals for stays of execution for two Florida death row inmates, allowing the state to proceed with the execution of its eleventh and twelfth inmates this year as planned on Tuesday.

The justices turned down two separate petitions that sought to delay these scheduled executions.

James Duckett, a former police officer aged 68, was originally slated for execution at noon on Tuesday. However, the Supreme Court’s decision to grant a stay temporarily postponed the execution.

According to local media sources, Duckett was executed via lethal injection and was declared dead at 1:19 p.m.

Duckett was convicted of raping and murdering an 11-year-old girl in 1987.

The Supreme Court also denied a separate stay for Dominick Occhicone, an 80-year-old who was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend’s parents in 1986.

Occhicone’s execution is scheduled for 6 p.m. If executed, he would become the oldest inmate executed in Florida.

If carried out, Occhicone’s execution would mark the first time Florida executed two inmates in one day since 1964. It would be the just the second double execution in the U.S. in the 2000s and the first since Arkansas executed two inmates in 2007.

Florida executed 19 inmates in 2025, according to a News Media review of Florida Department of Corrections data. The 11 people the state has executed so far this year are more than double the next closest state, with Texas having executed four inmates this year, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

A pack of coyotes has unexpectedly settled into a deserted condominium complex in West Hollywood, leaving local residents anxious and calling on the city to intervene.

This property, abandoned and awaiting completion for several years, initially housed homeless squatters before the coyotes made it their new habitat.

“It’s rather intriguing to step outside your apartment and suddenly be met with the gaze of a coyote,” Cindy Sorley shared with CBS LA.

Dramatic photos and videos have emerged, reportedly depicting six coyotes claiming various rooms within the vacant structure. Additional footage captures their incessant howling and barking, both day and night.

Residents reported initially observing the coyotes’ presence at the start of the year. Now, they’re frequently spotted prowling the streets and scaling the buildings, finding refuge in the unoccupied condominium.

“The other night when I came home, there were six right around my car,” Sorley added.

“People are avoiding even walking the dogs by that structure out of fear, obviously,” said Collin Newman, a neighbor in the area.

“There’s just, that’s not the society we live in,” he added. “So, animal control has to really get on their game and do something about it because no one should feel unsafe.”

Residents told CBS they have reached out to the city for help, but said they’ve had no response. Others who live in the area admitted this living arrangement has to change.

“The City of West Hollywood is aware of community concerns regarding coyote activity,” a city spokesperson told The California Post, and referenced the city’s “coyote management and coexistence plan” adopted in 2018.

“The plan emphasizes public education, prevention, and humane coexistence strategies, including guidance on safely hazing coyotes that exhibit habituated behavior,” the city said.

Hazing is one of the things to do if you encounter one of the pack, it said. It involves “being ‘big and loud’ by waving your arms over your head, making loud noises or squirting the coyote with water until the coyote(s) chooses to leave.”

California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials said they’ve seen similar trends across LA county, placing the warmer temperatures and loss of habitat from the 2025 wildfires in Pacific Palisades and Eaton as one of the reasons.

Having recently celebrated his marriage, NBA sensation Anthony Edwards has now claimed a significant courtroom victory over Ayesha Howard, the mother of his child, following a California court’s description of her as a “vexatious litigant.”

The 24-year-old Minnesota Timberwolves athlete has endured a grueling year-long battle for child support with Howard. Despite having already contributed over $110,000 for the care of their young daughter, Aubri, the legal wrangling has persisted.

Originally, both Howard and Edwards were engaged in legal proceedings in their hometown of Atlanta. However, Howard sought to change the arena by filing a new lawsuit in Los Angeles, seemingly due to the city’s typically more generous rulings on paternity cases.

Obtained by the Daily Mail, court documents reveal that Howard’s Los Angeles suit has been dismissed. Crucially, she could not present any proof of California residency and failed to appear for the trial.

As a consequence, Justice Anne Kiley of the LA Superior Court has ruled Howard as a “vexatious litigant,” effectively preventing her from initiating any additional legal actions within the jurisdiction of Los Angeles.

The court also found there is no evidence that Howard has spent enough time in Los Angeles to call the city home and that the baby was not conceived there.

Howard was also threatened with contempt of court charges if she ignores the ruling and continues to make vexatious claims in LA. The Daily Mail has reached out to Howard for comment.

On top of that, Fulton County justice Alice Benton handed down a final ruling earlier this month that slashed the $5,000-a-month payout Edwards had been forking over to just $3,220 – the maximum required in Georgia – and said Howard had done nothing to prove that more was needed.

The 24-year-old shooting guard, whose nickname is ‘Ant-Man’ – scored the wins just ahead of his low-key wedding to longtime girlfriend Shannon Jackson in Minnesota on July 16.

Court records show the pair tied the knot in a quiet ceremony in Hennepin County, which is also home to his team’s Minneapolis stronghold.

The couple have been together since 2020 and share a daughter of their own, a two-year-old named Aislynn.

The 6ft 4in Edwards also has two other children with two more women.

Despite his colorful personal life, Edwards is one of the NBA’s biggest stars and is a four-time NBA All-Star.

With his off-court legal matters officially wrapped up, the four-time All-Star now turns his full attention toward his upcoming campaign in Minnesota following an elite 2025-26 season where he averaged 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

There is renewed belief in Minnesota that it could be a historic campaign for the franchise after sealing a blockbuster trade with the Charlotte Hornets for LaMelo Ball.

The Hornets also traded away Josh Green. 

In exchange, the Timberwolves gave up Naz Reid and a collection of draft picks.

The three first-round pick swaps will be in 2028, 2029 and 2030. The Hornets also will get three second-round picks in 2029, 2032 and 2033.

Ball was reportedly happy in Charlotte after a rejuvenated Hornets finished just one play-in win short of the playoffs last season. They have not been in the postseason since 2016.

But the Hornets fielded a number of ‘aggressive’ offers, with the Toronto Raptors and Portland Trail Blazers also keen on Ball.

A U.S. Secret Service agent, Marquez Pinder, faces serious legal trouble after being arrested and charged with five felony offenses, including attempted manslaughter with a deadly weapon. The charges stem from his alleged participation in hazing “rituals” that left two individuals with life-threatening injuries.

Pinder, a 29-year-old special agent assigned to the Miami Field Office, has been placed under house arrest. As part of the conditions, he is required to wear a GPS tracking device.

Court documents reveal that Pinder served as the “dean of pledges” in four prolonged hazing rituals for a Miami chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. His role allegedly involved severe hazing activities directed at two prospective fraternity members.

Court records detail how the victims were subjected to “paddling” and were struck with “canes” by Pinder and two other fraternity members. When one victim complained of “urinating blood” following the initial hazing session, his concerns were allegedly dismissed by the fraternity.

Days later, the man had to be intubated at a hospital while receiving “critical care to prevent further physical deterioration and death,” a law enforcement officer reported in a sworn statement.

The other victim was treated for “blackened” and “necrotic” tissue on his buttocks from the beating, court records show. “Substantial portions of skin and soft tissue” needed to be surgically removed, and he received “extensive skin grafts to cover the areas,” according to an affidavit.

His “mobility and quality of life have been significantly impacted,” a law enforcement officer wrote. And without emergency medical care, “his injuries would have resulted in renal failure leading to death.”

The alleged hazing occurred every day April 1-4 at two different residences in Miami-Dade County, court records show.

During the meetings, the two victims were tested with questions about the fraternity and its history, according to the affidavit. Victims told law enforcement officers that when they failed to answer a question correctly, they were placed in what they called a “stress position,” the affidavit shows.

They described the “stress position” as a half-squat with one arm pointed forward. While in that position, the victims said they were “struck on their buttocks with a paddle.” One of the victims said that, before the hazing, he was told that “if he ever felt that he was reaching his physical limit,” he should tell Pinder, his “dean of pledges,” officers reported. He said he was told that indications of reaching that limit might include urinating blood or feeling that he was going to pass out, according to the affidavit.

Investigators reported they’d reviewed messages between fraternity members about the need for cleaning supplies to “mop up sweat and blood” from the hazing. After four days of “testing” to become members of the fraternity, one victim sought emergency medical treatment because his “health continued to deteriorate, and he began to suffer from vomiting, fevers, and immense pain on his buttocks,” officers reported.

Pinder now faces five felony charges, including two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, two counts of attempted manslaughter with a deadly weapon and one count of hazing with a deadly weapon.

Jared James and Elijah Dyous, who allegedly helped in the hazing, face the same charges, court records show.

The three men could not be reached for comment. An attorney reportedly representing Pinder did not respond to a request for comment by News Media.

Pinder has been employed with the U.S. Secret Service since September 2023, an agency spokesperson told News Media. Pinder is currently on administrative leave.

“The United States Secret Service takes seriously any criminal misconduct allegations involving one of our employees,” said Michael Townsend, special agent in charge of the Secret Service Miami Field Office. “We are fully cooperating with the investigation.”

“The Secret Service remains committed to accountability, professionalism, and integrity, and any misconduct will be addressed swiftly and appropriately upon completion of the investigative and judicial process.”

Kappa Alpha Psi is described on the organization’s website as a “historically African-American fraternity.” The national organization was founded in 1911.

The Richmond-Perrine Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi is not affiliated with the University of Miami, Megan Afkham, assistant vice president of university communications, told News Media in an email.

One of the victims is a University of Miami School of Law student, Afkham said, but the chapter is not connected to the university or its undergraduate chapter.

In a written statement issued by the national Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, Jimmy McMikle, the organization’s national president, said the organization “maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on hazing.”

Florida is on the brink of a rare event, as it prepares to become the first state in nearly ten years to conduct two executions in a single day. The executions will involve a child murderer and an 80-year-old man.

Should Occhicone’s execution proceed, he will set a record as the oldest inmate executed in Florida’s history. This would also make him the second oldest individual to be executed in modern US history.

Earlier this month, Dennis Sochor received the distinction of being the oldest inmate executed in Florida. His death penalty was carried out for the murder of a woman he encountered at a New Year’s Eve celebration in the early hours of 1982.

The oldest prisoner known to have been executed in US history is Walter Moody Jr., who was put to death aged 83 in Alabama in 2018.

Moody was convicted over a mail bomb campaign in 1989 that killed a federal judge and a civil rights attorney.

Kostek’s TikTok video comes just a few months after she appeared on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway in late May.

She also starred in the 2026 SI Swimsuit Issue, posing for a sexy photoshoot in Botswana.

Kostek posed in multiple bikinis, leaving little to the imagination.

However, this isn’t the first time that Kostek has hit back at body-shamers in recent years.

In 2019, she responded to haters who told her that she looked ‘gross’ and should ‘cover up’ after she posted a photo of herself sporting a skimpy neon green bikini while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas. 

At the time, she took to Instagram on Wednesday to address the cruel comments about her body that she received in response to the image she shared on social media.

‘I can’t begin to explain how many rude comments I got after I posted this photo about my body. But for the women who I was able to help love who they are more from it, I post without hesitation for myself and for YOU,’ Kostek wrote.

In a series of videos, Kostek opened up about how her bikini photo ‘sparked an uproar of opinions’ about her body – both good and bad.

‘I’ve been sitting on this for a few days, deciding if I was going to share this, and I decided that I’m going to share a little bit of the things that I had seen,’ she said, before posting screengrabs of some of the nasty comments she received on social media.

One person called Kostek’s photo ‘gross,’ while another said she has ‘the largest hip bones’ he had ever seen, among other cruel comments. 

The former NFL cheerleader went on to share a video of herself crying over the comments, explaining in the caption: ‘I was having a weak moment and allowed some of these comments get to me that night.’

She said she had never filmed herself crying before that moment, but she was happy to have the footage to look back on and see how ‘rattled’ she was by the comments.

‘I’m also able to look at that and see myself in so much pain and realize that that was just a small moment in time — and by people I don’t give a f**k about,’ she said.

Kostek explained that while her Instagram page is filled with photos from ‘great times’ in her life and ‘beautiful places’ she has visited, she has days where she gets upset too.

The former New England Patriots cheerleader noted that she doesn’t usually ‘read into any of this,’ but she is happy she did this time.

‘It helps me grow. It helps me have thicker skin, helps remind me what’s important in life, who’s important in life,’ she said.

‘I’m just coming on here and sharing my story from one time because we are our own biggest critics,’ she added.
