Infantino Calls Out World Cup Critics in Bold Open Letter

0

In a fierce rebuttal, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has addressed critiques of the World Cup, charging detractors with spreading negativity and untruths. He lauded the tournament as a triumph that epitomized global unity, safety, and inclusivity.

Infantino, 56, conveyed his sentiments in an open letter on Monday, asserting that skeptics have overlooked the joy and camaraderie that the event brought to millions worldwide. This edition of the World Cup, clinched by Spain, took place across venues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“Your focus has been so fixated on hate and criticism that you’ve missed the bigger picture,” he remarked.

Directing his words at those disseminating critiques from behind screens and print, Infantino stated, “While you’re ensconced in your negativity, we at FIFA are actively on the ground, ensuring the successful execution of the greatest show on earth.”

He underscored the event’s peaceful nature, proclaiming, “We witnessed no violence, no incidents. It was 100% secure, brimming with joy and happiness!”

FIFA faced criticism over a number of issues during the tournament, including debate over US visa restrictions affecting supporters and officials from several countries and concerns involving teams from conflict-hit regions.

Infantino’s letter also followed scrutiny of FIFA’s handling of the Folarin Balogun disciplinary case, a decision to suspend the automatic one-match ban imposed on him after his red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina following the intervention of US President Donald Trump.

Officiating decisions in Argentina’s match against Egypt also generated widespread debate among fans and pundits.

Though Infantino did not refer to specific cases, ‌he argued that many of the refereeing and disciplinary decisions criticised during the tournament were commonplace in various competitions worldwide.

“Potentially mistaken red or yellow cards or subsequent decisions not to ban players in certain situations are routine and widely accepted in some of the biggest leagues worldwide,” he added.

“It’s curious that the same countries employing these practices are the ones criticizing.”

VISA CONTROVERSIES

Infantino pointed to the participation of countries facing political tensions, domestic crisis and domestic health challenges as evidence of football’s ability to transcend divisions.

While Iran’s participation came against the backdrop of conflict with the US, issues surrounding Haiti’s domestic crisis and the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo also drew attention to visa and travel restrictions.

Somali World Cup referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan was barred from entering the US despite having a valid visa.

“Iran entered the United States without incident or conflict. The Iranian team received visas to enter because football is about peace. It’s not about politics,” he said.

“Countries facing serious health issues or other challenges were granted visas.

“When football brought Haiti to the world, a country that many cannot or choose not to visit, it might be time to set aside your pens and keyboards and show some respect to the teams that played.”

Tragic Discovery: Body of Newly Engaged Woman Found Washed Ashore

The tragic discovery of a college soccer star, who had recently celebrated her engagement, has left friends in mourning after her body was found on a Californian beach.

Bryn Waite, 26, was found lifeless in the waters of La Jolla Shores Beach by a passerby on Wednesday morning, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Officials confirmed that Waite, who had played Division 2 women’s soccer at Central Washington University between 2018 and 2019, was deceased upon discovery.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has classified the investigation as a ‘Non Homicide’ case, but the exact circumstances surrounding her death are still unknown.

The heartbreaking incident follows a mere month after Waite joyously announced her engagement to her fiancé, as documented on her Instagram.

She shared a series of selfies alongside her fiancé on June 15 with the caption ‘He Promises’.

The images showed the two of them smiling side-by-side as Waite showed off her large blue stone ring.

Waite, who lived in San Diego, was originally from Anchorage, Alaska, public records show.

Ringo Starr Shares Emotional Last Words With George Harrison

Ringo Starr has always cherished the deep connection he shared with his fellow former Beatle, George Harrison, a bond that endured until Harrison’s final moments. In the 2011 documentary “George Harrison: Living in the Material World,” Starr fondly recalled the emotional exchange that marked his friend’s last words to him, which were notably poignant.

For fans of the legendary Beatles, it’s well-known that George Harrison succumbed to lung cancer in 2001. During this challenging period, Ringo Starr experienced his own personal turmoil, as his daughter Lee Starkey faced a serious health crisis, undergoing surgery in Boston to remove a brain tumor. Preceding this surgery and mere moments before Harrison’s passing, Starr visited his bedridden bandmate in Switzerland. “I had to explain, ‘Well, you know, I’ve got to go. I’ve got to go to Boston,'” Starr recounted (via Songsong). In a gesture that illustrated Harrison’s generous spirit, he offered, “Do you want me to come with you?” Starr, his voice wavering with emotion, reflected on this touching moment, admiring Harrison’s character and saying, “That’s the incredible side of George.”

Fortunately, Lee, who is Ringo’s only daughter alongside his sons Zak and Jason Starkey, successfully recovered from her operation. Though she maintains a low public profile, Lee and her children reportedly enjoy a close relationship with Starr. In keeping Harrison’s legacy alive, Starr has actively supported Harrison’s daughter’s work, like her book of poetry titled “Came the Lightening: Twenty Poems for George,” while also sharing nostalgic memories on Instagram. Undoubtedly, Harrison would have been delighted with the public recognition Starr received, as exemplified when Harrison’s team celebrated Starr’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on their website in 2010. Though Harrison is no longer with us, his presence continues to resonate.

Paul McCartney also has emotional memories from George’s last days

Ringo Starr wasn’t the only member of the Beatles who shared meaningful moments with George Harrison in his final days. Paul McCartney, too, reminisced about the bittersweet times they spent together as Harrison’s life drew to a close. Just like with Starr, Harrison shared lighthearted musings about visiting places they would never get the chance to see. McCartney recollected a conversation with Harrison, who, worn out from moving between various clinics from Switzerland to New York, humorously requested, “Can we just stop in one place?” (via The Paul McCartney Project). In response, McCartney jokingly suggested, “We should go to Speke Hall,” to which Harrison enthusiastically responded, “Oh, that’d be great.”

In another revealing interview with the Mirror, McCartney relived touching moments shared with Harrison and Starr. He humorously commented on a poignant visit, “The last time I met him he was very sick and I held his hand for four hours. … I kept thinking, ‘He’s going to smack me and tell me to f*** off.'” Harrison did no such thing, and McCartney, who lovingly regarded Harrison as a younger brother, fondly remarked, “What a lovely boy.”

Sadly, like Starr, McCartney had also been affected by cancer soon before Harrison died, with his first wife Linda tragically passing away, and he told the Mirror, “Here I was going through it all again with a mate of 50 years. He wasn’t my immediate family but almost.” Devastating as his passing was, it’s beautiful that both Starr and McCartney had such special memories with Harrison right towards the end.

Restore Thigh Muscle Over 60 with These 5 Chair Exercises

0

Leveraging your own body weight as a form of resistance is a smart approach when aiming to develop thigh muscles effectively.

>

Strong thighs play an essential role in everyday life activities. They’re the powerhouse that enables you to walk, run, ascend stairs, and even rise from a chair. As the years go by, your thighs may lose strength, transforming routine tasks into daunting challenges. This weakening not only makes daily activities harder but also increases the risk of falls and associated injuries.

To gain insight, we consulted with Nicky Cossins, a renowned Yoga Instructor at Yoga with Nicky, who shed light on five chair exercises that promise to rejuvenate thigh muscles more effectively for individuals over 60 than traditional gym workouts.

“Chair-based workouts serve as an excellent substitute for gym equipment when your goal is to reinforce thigh strength at home,” explains Cossins. “These exercises utilize your natural body weight for resistance, promoting slower and more deliberate movements, resulting in prolonged muscle engagement. Instead of targeting a single muscle group with external weights, chair exercises require multiple muscle groups to coordinate, enhancing both coordination and stability for older adults.”

Inner Thigh Squeeze

This exercise fires up the adductor muscles, which are a group of muscles running along the inside of the thighs. They provide stability to the pelvis and hips by bringing your legs toward your body’s midline, Cossins tells us.

“As we age, prioritizing strength in these muscles is really important because they support our posture and balance. They also help with coordination and control when completing everyday tasks like walking, changing direction and getting in and out of a chair,” she says.

  1. Begin by sitting toward the front of a sturdy chair with both feet placed firmly on the ground.
  2. Bend your knees to 90 degrees and place a yoga block or pillow between your knees.
  3. Maintain a tall posture and lightly engage your core.
  4. Squeeze the block by drawing your inner thighs toward each other.
  5. Hold the squeeze for 3 to 5 seconds before slowly releasing.
  6. Repeat for 10 to 15 reps.

If You Can Hold a Wall Sit This Long After 60, Your Leg Strength Is Top-Tier

Knee Extensions

“Knee extensions specifically target the quadriceps, which are the large muscles at the front of the thigh that are primarily responsible for straightening the knee. This exercise allows you to isolate and activate the quadriceps in a controlled, low-impact way to support the knee joint,” Cossins points out.

  1. Begin seated toward the front of a sturdy chair with your feet placed on the floor under your knees.
  2. Maintain a tall posture, relaxed shoulders, and braced core.
  3. Gradually straighten one knee until that leg is completely extended in front of you.
  4. Pause at the top for a moment and gently squeeze the front of your thigh for 3 to 5 seconds.
  5. Lower your foot back down with control.
  6. Perform 10 to 12 reps on each leg.

4 Bed Exercises That Restore Thigh Strength Faster Than Squats After 65

Chair Squats

“I always tell my yoga students that maintaining strength isn’t just about building muscle, but also about creating a mindful connection between the brain and the muscles, keeping the body’s ability to recruit and engage them effectively. The controlled lowering and rising motion of a chair squat fires up the glutes, quadriceps and hamstrings. While we do use these muscles daily, we don’t intentionally activate them as much as the others—there’s a big difference,” Cossins explains.

  1. Begin by standing tall in front of a sturdy chair with your feet hip-width apart on the ground, toes pointing forward.
  2. Activate your core and keep your chest lifted.
  3. Reach your arms forward.
  4. Bend at the knees and hips and lower slowly into a squat—as if you’re about to sit down. Make sure your weight stays in your heels.
  5. Hover just about the chair’s seat, holding for 5 to 10 seconds.
  6. Press through your heels to rise back up.
  7. Repeat 5 to 8 times.

5 Bed Exercises That Restore Thigh Strength Faster Than Gym Machines After 60

Chair-Supported Reverse Lunges

Reverse lunges are a unilateral movement, meaning each leg works on its own. Activating each leg separately helps promote solid balance and muscle symmetry.

“This way, they both have the strength they need to complete daily tasks where we’re shifting weight between the two, such as walking, climbing stairs, etc.,” Cossins says. “Using a chair for support makes reverse lunges more accessible while also allowing you to focus on proper alignment and controlled muscle engagement, rather than balance.”

  1. Begin standing tall behind a sturdy chair, holding onto the back of it for balance.
  2. Place your feet hip-width apart.
  3. Activate your core and step one foot back, placing the ball of that foot on the ground.
  4. Slowly bend your knees, lowering your back knee toward the floor while keeping your front knee tracking over your toes.
  5. Hold for 3 to 5 seconds.
  6. Drive through your front foot to rise back up to standing.
  7. Alternate sides 5 to 8 times each.

DCLM Daily Manna 27 July 2026 — It Is Their Time

DCLM Daily Manna 27 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — It Is Their Time

TOPIC: It Is Their Time (DCLM Daily Manna 27 July 2026)

KEY VERSE: When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness – Luke 22:53

TEXT: Luke 22:52-54 (KJV)

52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?

53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Peter followed afar off.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

The story was told of a university town, where a feared cult leader ran a gang. The gang terrorised students, extorting, bullying, and even injuring others. He was regarded as “untouchable,” and his group gained influence – notoriety. He lived large, dressed in designer clothes, and drove expensive cars. However, following a violent incident on campus that involved his group, a major investigation was launched by the authorities. The cult leader was arrested and expelled. His supporters disbanded and fled. Years later, while the students he terrorised built careers, he remained jobless, shunned, and miserable.

The cult leader had his time. So did the chief priests, captains of the temple, and elders who came to arrest and humiliate Jesus Christ. He told them, “…this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” As these malicious zealots exuded the euphoria of their “exploit” of capturing Jesus, as if He were a robber, He queried them, “Be ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and staves?” Their rude attitude was unnecessary and a mismatch with Christ’s peaceful disposition. They lacked the authority and courage to accost Christ all the time He ministered in the temple and everywhere; but why now? Christ could only rationalise their behaviour and reconcile Himself to it, considering it was their time. It was a time when the power of darkness was permitted to do its worst, which would eventually redound to God’s purpose – and to humanity’s redemption.

We often witness the “triumphing of the wicked,” where dubious individuals exploit the political space, misuse power, and afflict the righteous. We find people “prospering” in business by cutting corners and through corruption. People gain fame and fortune by adopting perverted lifestyles and performances. We live in a time when evil is called good, and good evil – all to the frustration of the righteous. There is even a rise in the active persecution of Christians around the world. But we should be comforted by the submission of our Lord: it is their time. Consider also that “the triumphing of the wicked is short…” (Job 20:5).

If you are a true follower of Christ, keep walking with Him. Do not be dismayed by the attitudes and actions of the worldly. The temporary humiliation of Christ resulted in eternal honour and our redemption. Our present frustrations will soon result in permanent favour.

Lindsay Clancy’s Trial: A Mother’s Heartbreaking Legal Battle

0

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — After welcoming her third child, Lindsay Clancy found herself engulfed in a mental health crisis. Unable to find solace in sleep and grappling with alarming thoughts, she turned to specialists for postpartum mood disorders. Despite being prescribed an array of psychiatric medications and seeking refuge in a mental health facility, relief was elusive.

Tragically, just 19 days post-discharge from the psychiatric hospital, Lindsay Clancy committed the unthinkable—ending the lives of her three children in their Massachusetts home.

The harrowing events will take center stage as a jury gears up to hear the opening statements for Clancy’s murder trial on Monday. This trial promises to delve into contrasting perspectives on her mental state and accountability.

The prosecution intends to portray Clancy as having meticulously orchestrated the tragic events, arguing that despite her background as a labor and delivery nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital, she is fully accountable for her children’s deaths.

In defense, attorney Kevin Reddington will assert that Clancy was in the throes of postpartum psychosis at the time—an uncommon but severe mental illness often triggered by the overwhelming stress, exhaustion, and hormonal shifts that accompany childbirth.

The trial is expected to take several weeks.

Elyse Hershon, a Boston criminal defense attorney and legal analyst, said the verdict will likely depend on how the jury views Clancy’s “intent and mental capacity.”

“Whenever there are deaths of children, it rattles emotions. Because these actions are incomprehensible and the outcome so horrific, people tend to want to hold someone responsible,” Hershon said. “Some people naturally will identify and sympathize with Clancy and her postpartum depression, and others will not be able to understand how one could end their children’s lives, and demand responsibility.”

While postpartum depression is fairly common among women who have given birth, postpartum psychosis is estimated to afflict only 1 to 2 per 1,000 women after delivery. Symptoms include hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, mood changes and thoughts of harming yourself or others. Most women who have the condition, however, do not wind up harming their children.

Prosecutors say Clancy strangled her children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — on Jan. 24, 2023, after sending her then-husband, Patrick, out for some errands. She then jumped out of the home’s second-story window and was paralyzed from the waist down in the fall.

At the time, she had been getting psychiatric care for about four months. On the day of the killings, she said she heard voices telling her, “This is your last chance. Kill the children so you can kill yourself,” according to her lawyer.

If convicted of murder, Clancy faces life in prison without parole. If found not guilty due to a lack of criminal responsibility, she would be committed to a state mental health facility.

The case has parallels to several others involving mothers accused of killing their children.

In 2001, Andrea Yates drowned her five children in a bathtub in Texas. Her attorneys she suffered from severe postpartum psychosis and, in a delusional state, believed Satan was inside her and that killing the youngsters would save them from hell.

Her initial murder conviction was overturned and in a retrial she was found not guilty by reason of insanity and committed to a state mental hospital.

Another Texas mother, Dena Schlosser, was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2006 after she killed her 10-month-old daughter by cutting off her arms.

Nicole Cirino, the director of the division of reproductive psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, who has been an expert defense witness in infanticide cases, said many of the women who harm their children while in the grip of postpartum psychosis believe their actions are helping the child.

In their own minds, “they may be saving their children from damnation,” Cirino said.

Clancy and her former husband, Patrick Clancy, filed lawsuits accusing her medical providers of failing to properly diagnose and treat her condition.

Awareness about postpartum psychosis has grown since the Yates case, but Cirino and other maternal mental health advocates said prosecutors rarely consider a mother’s mental state. Illinois is the only state with a law allowing for undiagnosed or untreated postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis to be a mitigating factor in sentencing.

“Women who kill their children in the throes of this medical illness, postpartum psychosis, are seriously and profoundly mentally ill. They are not evil,” said Dr. Catherine Birndorf, the CEO and founder of The Motherhood Center in New York City, which treats mothers with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

“To me it’s illness until proven otherwise,” she continued. “The fact that we consider it criminal until proven otherwise is problematic.”

Rhapsody Of Realities 27 July 2026: His Amazing And All-Promoting Grace

Rhapsody Of Realities 27 July 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): His Amazing And All-Promoting Grace

TOPIC: His Amazing And All-Promoting Grace (Rhapsody of Realities 27 July 2026)

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ – Romans 5:17

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

The opening scripture isn’t a promise for the future; it is a present reality. The grace of God pilots you. It causes you to reign in life. To reign means to live in dominion. It means you’re always on top, always above, never beneath. This is consistent with what God said to the children of Israel: “And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath…” (Deuteronomy 28:13).

Now, in Christ Jesus, by this amazing grace, that becomes your daily experience. This is why you must understand the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever you do in life, do it with this grace. With this grace at work in you, you’ll be successful, excellent, and a wonder. There is no failure in the life of one who walks in the consciousness of this grace.

This grace is all-promoting. It produces a life that is upward and forward only. There is no stagnation. Every day is progress. Every day is advancement. Your life becomes a continuous experience of growth and victory.

Then the Scripture further tells us something really remarkable: “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound” (Romans 5:20). This shows that the grace of God is more powerful than sin. When grace takes over your life, sin loses its dominion. Grace elevates you, strengthens you, and establishes you in righteousness.

How wonderful to know that grace reigns through righteousness. Romans 5:21 reveals this; it says, “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” This is the life you’ve received in Christ—a life where grace governs, righteousness prevails, and eternal life is expressed. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness that I have received in Christ Jesus. I reign in life, walking in dominion, excellence and victory. My life is upward and forward only; I manifest your glory and righteousness in all that I do, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Diomande Set for Real Madrid Move as PSG Bows Out of Chase

Real Madrid is on the brink of adding Yan Diomande, the promising winger from RB Leipzig, to their roster, following a successful agreement on personal terms with the Ivory Coast star.

The Spanish powerhouse edges closer to finalizing the deal after Paris Saint-Germain opted out of the chase for the 19-year-old, leaving the path clear for Madrid to strike.

Madrid take lead in transfer race

Fabrizio Romano reports that Diomande has agreed to a contract with Real Madrid resembling that of Jude Bellingham, where performance bonuses are set to augment his earnings.

Real Madrid is currently in the process of negotiating the transfer fee with RB Leipzig, with expectations swirling around a figure surpassing the £100 million mark for this coveted winger.

Sources indicate that PSG had tabled a last effort of £102.5 million, which was declined over the weekend, prompting them to step back from the contest.

Liverpool had also shown strong interest earlier in the transfer window, but the Premier League club ended its pursuit after an opening £69 million offer was turned down by Leipzig.

Leipzig face record sale

RB Leipzig are understood to have made significant efforts to keep Diomande, but the level of interest from Europe’s biggest clubs has made that increasingly difficult.

Club officials reportedly view the proposed transfer as a potential record sale for the Bundesliga side.

Real Madrid’s recruitment team, led by José Ángel Sánchez and chief scout Juni Calafat, are said to have monitored Diomande for around five years, with their interest predating his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists to win the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season award.

The Ivorian joined Leipzig from Spanish club Leganés last summer after previously developing at an academy in the United States, and now appears set to continue his rise with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
