Attorney Defends Beauty Queen Lindsay Shiver Amidst Bahamas Dispute Linked to Alleged Husband Murder Plot

0

A shocking case has emerged involving Georgia resident and former beauty queen Lindsay Shiver, who is accused of plotting, alongside her alleged lover from the Bahamas, to hire a hitman to murder her ex-NFL player husband. However, according to one of Shiver’s attorneys, she ought to be exempt from criminal charges due to significant legal issues affecting the prosecution’s evidence.

Her defense team in the United States contends that Bahamian authorities do not have the legal authority to file charges of murder-for-hire, particularly because the purported crime supposedly took place while Shiver was on American soil.

“Lindsay Shiver did not commit the offenses that the Bahamian Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has accused her of,” declared her attorney, Craig Shirley, in a statement to News Media, making a firm claim of her innocence.

Shirley has pointed out a crucial discrepancy, noting that the indictment alleged Shiver was present in the Bahamas on July 16, 2023, when the supposed conspiracy was set in motion. However, he insists that the defense has presented both the prosecution and the court with evidence from various independent sources corroborating that she was indeed in the United States on that day.

“The DPP must prove it. Meaning that, as a threshold requirement, the DPP is required to prove that Lindsay was in the Bahamas on July 16, 2023,” Shirley said. “It cannot.”

Shirley argued that the discrepancy is not only a factual dispute but a jurisdictional defect that prevents the Bahamian government from prosecuting Shiver under its own penal code.

“Lindsay cannot be prosecuted under the Bahamian Penal Code for an alleged act committed at a time when the undisputed evidence establishes that she was not in The Bahamas,” he said.

“This is not a technicality; it is a legally fatal defect in the DPP’s evidence, its charges and its continued prosecution of Lindsay,” he said.

Shirley said that he was “shocked and disappointed” that Bahamas authorities were continuing to pursue prosecution against Shiver, saying that they have the obligation to drop all charges.

“Lindsay should never have been subjected to a prosecution that the Bahamian government lacked the legal authority to bring,” he said.

Shirley noted that he issued the statement independently and that neither Shiver nor her Bahamas-based attorney, Terrel Butler, had prior knowledge he was providing it. Butler declined to provide comment.

The alleged plot was unraveled by Bahamian authorities during an unrelated break-in investigation at a local bar in Abaco, Bahamas.

While searching a suspect’s phone, police discovered WhatsApp messages containing photos of Robert Shiver alongside text instructions allegedly sent by Lindsay Shiver reading, “Kill him.” Defense attorneys maintained that the messages were taken out of context.

Shiver, along with her lover, Adrien Bethel, and the alleged hitman, Faron Newbold Jr., were arrested in the Bahamas in July 2023. Shiver, along with Bethel and Newbold Jr., is charged with conspiracy to commit murder under Bahamian law. They pleaded not guilty to all charges.

News Media has reached out to Bahamas prosecutors and to Robert Shiver’s attorney.

Ellen Pompeo Missing from Grey’s Anatomy Season 23 Cast Photo Sparks Fan Frenzy Over Meredith’s Future

Meredith Grey may not be physically present, but she remains an integral part of the Grey’s Anatomy legacy.

Grey’s Anatomy enthusiasts were left pondering one pivotal question after catching a glimpse of the initial season 23 cast reveal: Where exactly is Meredith Grey?

Ellen Pompeo, who has masterfully portrayed the legendary surgeon since the debut of the ABC hit medical drama in 2005, was noticeably absent from a new cast photograph released as a teaser for the upcoming season.

The image, which made its debut on Instagram on July 24, showcased longtime Grey’s Anatomy fixtures Chandra Wilson, Debbie Allen, James Pickens Jr., Camilla Luddington, and Caterina Scorsone. They were joined by recent additions to the cast such as Trevor Jackson, Adelaide Kane, Niko Terho, Harry Shum Jr., and Anthony Hill.

While devoted fans were thrilled to witness the series preparing for yet another exciting season, many quickly observed the notable absence of the character for whom the show is named.

“Ok so I’m not seeing Meredith???” one fan wrote in the comments. “The show is called Grey’s Anatomy, but there’s not a single ‘grey’ in sight.”

Another commenter joked, “GREY’S Anatomy but I don’t see a GREY..LOL HAAHAHAAHAA.”

“Where’s Meredith????” another fan asked.

But Pompeo’s absence from the cast photo doesn’t mean viewers have seen the last of Meredith Grey. After serving as the face of Grey’s Anatomy for its first 18 seasons, Pompeo scaled back her on-screen role beginning with season 19 in 2022 as she focused more on her family and other projects.

“I’ve been doing it for 20 years, so it was time to step away,” she told El País in an April 2025 interview. “I have three children and I love spending time with them and I love being involved in their lives.”

The actress, who shares daughters Stella, 16, and Sienna, 11, as well as son Eli, 9, with husband Chris Ivery, added, “I’m very lucky to be able to get to work sometimes and take time off. I have a nice balance in my life.”

Since stepping back from her starring role, Pompeo has remained closely connected to Grey’s Anatomy as an executive producer and the show’s narrator. She has also continued to appear in select episodes each season and is expected to return for season 23, according to Deadline.

The upcoming season will also look different following the exits of longtime cast members Kevin McKidd and Kim Raver, who departed the series at the end of last season.

“Grey’s Anatomy has been a huge chapter of my life, creatively and personally, and I’m deeply grateful for everything the show has given me over the years,” McKidd shared in a statement to Variety in March. “As that chapter comes to a close, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead—building new work, telling new stories, and taking everything I’ve learned into the next phase of my career.”

Raver also reflected on her time with the series, saying, “To my amazingly talented castmates and our formidable, tireless crew: playing in this arena with you has been a joy, and I will carry this company in my heart always.”

Even with a few familiar faces missing, Grey’s Anatomy isn’t ready to close the book on Meredith Grey just yet.

The Mets have signaled that nearly everyone outside Juan Soto and their top young players could be available, creating lots of uncertainty around the roster ahead of the deadline. Peralta’s struggles have lowered his trade value, so this start has all the more meaning for a potential return for the Mets.

The Dodgers are using their large NL West lead to take a cautious approach with injured stars like Shohei Ohtani, Edwin Díaz, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow. Their biggest concern may be behind the plate, where Will Smith’s ongoing absence could lead them to explore adding a veteran catcher before the deadline.

Berlin Pride Attack Suspect, 21, Allegedly Sought to Join Islamic State

    0

According to German media reports, the suspect in the Berlin Pride attack, who remains on the run, had previously attempted to align himself with the Islamic State group.

Authorities have initiated a widespread manhunt for the 21-year-old suspect, Abdul B, following a violent incident where a van was driven into a crowd, resulting in one fatality and injuring 29 individuals.

Abdul B is described as having a slim build, standing about 6 feet 3 inches tall, with black hair. At the time of his last sighting, he was dressed in a black hoodie and white trousers. The police have cautioned the public against approaching him, as he could be armed and poses a significant danger.

Reports from police sources indicate that Abdul B, who holds German citizenship, traveled to Lebanon in 2025 in a failed bid to join the Islamic State.

After being held in pre-trial detention until May 2026, he was mandated to participate in a de-radicalization program.

In an update this afternoon, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt confirmed the number of people injured had risen from 16 to 29.

He said ‘everything we are seeing here indicates that we have experienced an Islamist attack’.

Mr Dobrindt said the suspect ‘rammed into a crowd with a car’ and ‘then attacked the crowd with some type of blade, it might have been a machete, and also severely injured those people’.

The minister said: ‘We cannot rule out the possibility that further terrorist attacks might take place.’

Mr Dobrindt added that Abdul B was born in Germany in 2005 and has a Lebanese background. His mother became a naturalised German citizen in 2002.

Police and prosecutors on Sunday issued a wanted notice for 21-year-old Abdul B, asking for the public's help in tracing him

This May, he was convicted in Germany of ‘preparing a serious act of subversive violence,’ the papers report, but according to Spiegel he received a suspended sentence.

According to Bild, he was arrested in Lebanon while attempting to join IS and sent back to Germany as he is a German citizen.

Spiegel reported that a few weeks ago there was a tip-off that Abdul B. had posted a photo online posing with a weapon.

However, a search of his apartment turned up only a toy replica. Police had been deployed to the suspect’s alleged address, around one kilometre south of the scene of the attack.

Berlin’s mayor, Kai Wegner, said: ‘This was an attack on all of us. It was an attack on our way of life and coexistence… and our way of life. Ladies and gentlemen, this must end. We must be very clear about this.’

Mayor Wegner, who attended the event, said the city ‘was showing its diversity’ with a colourful celebration but that it ‘became dark after 10 pm – very dark’.

Police and prosecutors said the suspect is believed to have injured several people with a moving vehicle before one or more people left the van.

Several people were also apparently stabbed, they added.

While police confirmed that a woman had been killed, Berlin’s fire department spokesperson Dominik Pretz told reporters that, among the people injured in the attack, three have life-threatening injuries.

Providing a breakdown, Pretz said eight people have been seriously injured and five have minor injuries.

Germany’s largest hospital, the Charite, said it treated eight people injured in the attack. Four have since been discharged, while the remaining four are being cared for in intensive care.

The hospital said none of those patients are in a critical condition.

Nigel Farage used the Berlin Pride van attack to predict the end of what he called a ‘strange left-wing alliance between Islamists and the LGBT community’ in the UK.

The Reform UK leader wrote on X: ‘Horrendous attack in Berlin last night.

‘The strange left wing alliance between Islamists and the LGBT community in this country cannot last.’

Pretz also said that 30 people who had been in the area at the time of the attack had been left ‘shaken’.

Police had said earlier that they had identified a suspect who has ties to Islamic groups in the German capital.

‘The suspect is known to police. He is known to us as a member of Islamic circles here in Berlin, and our search for this person is proceeding at full speed,’ police spokesperson Florian Nath said.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz described the incident late Saturday evening as ‘an attack on our society’.

‘What an abhorrent act in Berlin,’ Merz wrote in a post on X. He added that Germany loves freedom, ‘and we will preserve and defend that’.

The attack unfolded near the city’s annual Pride celebrations on Saturday evening, triggering a major emergency response and prompting authorities to launch a large-scale manhunt.

Police have not yet disclosed a motive but are investigating the incident as a suspected extremist attack.

Authorities continue to appeal for witnesses and are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact police immediately while avoiding any direct confrontation.

Nath added that investigators have no information on ‘his specific motives’.

Germany’s federal prosecutor’s office is working with investigators in Berlin regarding the attack on the city’s Pride parade, a spokesperson of the body told the German Press Agency.

Germany’s top prosecution authority usually takes over investigations when terrorism is involved, though they have not yet officially assumed the case so far.

According to police, a white van drove into the Tiergarten park around 10pm and hit several people before colliding with a tree.

The closing party at the Pride festival, known as Christopher Street Day, was going on nearby at the time, following a parade with some 80 trucks that had made its way through downtown Berlin earlier in the day.

Julian Miethig, who had attended the LGBTQ+ party earlier, said he had just wanted to go to an afterparty when he heard from a friend that ‘something bad happened’.

He said he went to Tiergarten and was shocked that something like this could have happened at Berlin’s Pride celebrations. ‘It’s a dark day for the community,’ he added.

Christian Gaebler, Berlin’s Senator for Urban Development, has warned against speculating about the incident.

He insisted it was too early to say if there was a motive behind the crash. ‘It didn’t even happen at the event itself, but actually in the Tiergarten,’ he said.

The Pride event next to the Brandenburg Gate was called off around 10:15pm and a band’s performance on stage was interrupted.

Organisers of the Christopher Street Day pride celebrations in Berlin have cancelled a further two events following the attack.

Hundreds of thousands of people had come to Berlin to be at one of Europe’s largest LGBTQ+ celebrations on Saturday, although it’s unclear how many were still at the festival by late evening.

The word ‘Evacuation’ was displayed in bright colours on a large screen near the Brandenburg Gate, as people were urged to go home and to avoid taking the route through the Tiergarten park, with an Instagram post instructing them to leave in an ‘orderly manner’.

‘Please avoid the Victory Column and the Tiergarten. Leave the area in the direction of the main train station,’ the post read.

Earlier in the day, revellers celebrated peacefully, dancing and cheering as they watched the floats parade through the city.

Timeline: How the Berlin Pride attack unfolded

12pm – Berlin’s annual Christopher Street Day (CSD) Pride parade gets under way, with hundreds of thousands of people taking part. Around 80 floats travel through the city before celebrations continue into the evening with a closing event near the Brandenburg Gate.

10pm – According to police, a white van drives into a crowd near the Pride celebrations in Tiergarten park, leaving on woman dead and several people critically injured, before crashing into a tree. A major emergency response is launched and an extensive manhunt begins.

10.15pm – The closing Pride event is called off and revellers are told to leave the area as police cordon off Tiergarten park.

1am – Police confirm one person has died and at least 16 others have been injured. Officers also say the suspected vehicle has been found abandoned in Tiergarten park.

3am – The search area is expanded across Berlin as thousands of officers continue the hunt for the suspect.

3.30am – Police announce they have identified a suspect with ties to Islamist groups in Berlin. No arrest has been made and investigators say they have no information on a specific motive.

6.30am – Police name the suspect as 21-year-old Abdul B and issue a wanted notice. He is described as slim, around 1.90m (6ft 3in) tall, with black hair, and was last seen wearing a black hoodie and white trousers. The public is warned not to approach him as he may be armed and dangerous.

Travis Scott Faces $100,000 Tax Debt in California: Financial Woes Uncovered

Travis Scott is reportedly entangled in a financial dispute with the state of California, facing allegations of owing over $100,000 in back taxes, as revealed by legal documents obtained by The Blast.

The 32-year-old artist, widely known for his hit track “Sicko Mode,” has been targeted with a tax lien by California’s Franchise Tax Board for the tax year 2021.

Documents indicate that Scott’s outstanding tax bill stands at $106,968.18. Additionally, he has been cautioned that failure to settle the lien will result in further fees and interest accruing over time.

Despite this financial hiccup, the Texas-born rapper, who recently expressed being “devastated” by the tragic Astroworld incident that claimed 10 lives, reportedly boasts a net worth of approximately $80 million.

Attempts to reach out to Scott’s representatives for a statement have been made by DailyMail.com, though a response is yet to be received.

The musician has been involved in legal battles following the 2021 Astroworld Festival tragedy, which resulted in the death of ten people and numerous injuries during a crowd surge at his November 5, 2021 concert in Houston.

The tax lien comes weeks after Scott was hit with another Astroworld lawsuit.

In the filing, Scott and Live Nation were accused of ‘negligence and willful misconduct’ by a company named Ceremony of Roses (CoR), as per The Blast.

The company alleges that they have incurred ‘substantial financial harm’ after investing in the festival.

Earlier this month Scott revealed he is ‘devastated’ by the Astroworld disaster.

Scott, who previously broke his silence on the tragedy in 2021, told GQ he thinks about the disaster ‘all the time’ and has had ‘rough moments’ in the two years since as he worked on comeback album, Utopia.

Those killed, who ranged in age from 9 to 27, died from compression asphyxia, which an expert likened to being crushed by a car.

Scott said: ‘Making music, you think about things that go on in life and things that happen in your life, and you dial in on things. That moment for families, for the city, you know, it was devastating. And when it came to making, like even finishing the album…I got back into it probably like, I don’t know, months and months and months after.

‘And the idea of just even getting back into music, working on music and just even getting into that, was therapeutic of being able to channel some of the energy into production and sounds and finishing it.

‘I mean I was just overly devastated, you know. Yeah… Yeah, I always think about it. Those fans were like my family. You know, I love my fans to the utmost.

‘It has its moments where it gets rough and…yeah. You just feel for those people. And their families.

The star also revealed his heartbreak at his attempt at putting Houston on the map as a city to rival New York and Los Angeles and inspire children had been ‘ruined’ – after previously saying he wanted to be a ‘hometown hero’ and not a ‘villain.’

In December 2021, speaking out about the November 5 tragedy Scott sat down with podcaster Charlemagne Tha God for an interview

In the interview, Scott blamed his ‘in-ear’ person for not urging him to stop the show sooner, and claimed that he wasn’t aware of or responsible for the fatal stampede and crowd crush

Scott said that he is ‘1000 percent’ certain he did everything he could have to prevent the tragedy, and claims he didn’t hear the screams and cries for help as the crowd went out of control.

‘Things happen, you know, and it’s just been such a time, and I’m just trying to just really figure things out,’ he said when asked why he was breaking his silence.

‘My heart wasn’t there to be the villain—I was there to be a hometown hero.’

Scott struggled to contain his emotion at times as he spoke about the families that lost loved ones in the crowd stampede.

‘They lost their loved ones, I just always wanna be there for them, I’m gonna fix this problem and make sure this doesn’t happen in the future and be the number one voice for this. We gotta figure it out,’ he said.

Scott claimed that he was only told that the show was going to end after the guest, referring to Drake, came on stage.

He said he was never told why the show was ending or what was occurring in the crowd.

‘That’s what came through my ear,’ he said.

Scott blamed the media for pinning responsibility for the tragedy on him.

‘Yeah, you know, the media, they want to put it on me, but at the end of the day I don’t think it’s more so about that, it’s more so about stepping up to figure out what the problem is,’ he said. ‘Yeah, you know, I’m the face of the festival, I’m a artist, so yeah.’

Following an investigation by Houston Police, no charges were filed against Scott after a grand jury in June declined to indict him and five other people on any criminal counts related to the deadly concert.

A judge earlier this year scheduled the first trial from the lawsuits for May 6, 2024. That first trial would take place nearly 2.5 years since the deadly concert.

Documents filed in court in April listed more than 1,500 active cases, many of which were filed against Scott and Live Nation, the concert promoter.

Of these, 992 were cases with physical injuries and 313 were cases of ’emotional distress, pain, suffering and mental anguish.’ Orthopedic surgeries have been completed in 17 of these cases, with other surgeries recommended in another 21.

Some of the lawsuits have since been settled, including those filed by the families of three of the people killed during the concert.

Private Jets Sell Out: Soso Soberekon’s Wedding Creates Sky-High Demand

Renowned Nigerian streamer and digital personality Peller took to social media to voice his disappointment after efforts to book a private jet for the prestigious wedding of music executive Soso Soberekon fell through.

A video posted on social platforms showed Peller discussing how he initially planned to make a brief appearance at the glamorous event, with a day trip in mind. These plans were dashed when he learned that all private jets were unfortunately reserved.

The content creator explained that he received an invitation to the wedding and was eager to attend because of his close relationship with Soso Soberekon, whom he described as a good person.

“Today is Soso Soberekon’s wedding and I wanted to be there because I was invited and Soso is a good person,” Peller said.

He further explained that travelling through a commercial airline would mean spending an extra night away before returning the next day, which did not align with his plans.

“I wanted to go today and come back tonight, but it’s not possible. They said I can only go today and book another flight tomorrow,” he stated.

Outrage Erupts as Beloved Florida Grandma Tragically Killed by Illegal Immigrant: Family Demands Justice

    0

A Venezuelan national, reportedly residing illegally in the U.S., has been imprisoned after facing charges related to the tragic death of an elderly woman in Florida. The incident occurred when the man allegedly backed an SUV over the woman in a parking lot of a grocery store.

The unfortunate accident took place on May 17, when 82-year-old Deborah Murphy, a beloved grandmother, was walking back to her vehicle at a crosswalk outside a Publix supermarket in Panama City Beach. Court documents indicate she was struck by a Toyota 4Runner during this tragic event.

The force of the SUV knocked Ms. Murphy to the ground, yet the vehicle continued to reverse, ultimately “running over Ms. Murphy,” as noted in an arrest affidavit filed by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The court records reveal Carlos Suarez-Contreras, aged 26, was at the wheel during the incident, while 29-year-old Luis Sanabria occupied the front passenger seat.

Both were determined to be in the country illegally, according to arrest records.

Both men told deputies they were born in Venezuela. The two were issued U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers and booked into the Bay County Sheriff’s Office Jail, court records show.

Suarez-Contreras submitted a written plea of not guilty to the charge of driving with a canceled license and causing a death, a third-degree felony. His Georgia license had been canceled, according to arrest records.

Under Florida law, an illegal immigrant cannot obtain a state-issued driver’s license. However, 19 states and the District of Columbia do issue licenses to “unauthorized residents,” according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

At the scene, Sanabria gave sworn testimony to law enforcement that Suarez-Contreras “was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash.”

Before conducting an immigration investigation, the deputy on the scene noted that Suarez-Contreras gave “suspicious” answers to his questions.

Sanabria immediately left the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived, according to arrest records. He “only returned when I had Suarez-Contreras call him,” a deputy reported later.

Sanabria was found to have an expired visa, according to the incident report. He was released into the custody of ICE, Jacob Navarro, public affairs specialist for the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, told News Media.

Suarez-Contreras is being held without bond because of his immigration status and because it is believed that “he is a potential flight risk,” Florida Highway Patrol records show.

Just after the incident, Murphy was taken to the hospital and died from injuries related to the crash, according to court documents.

Suarez-Contreras is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 17 at the Bay County Courthouse in Panama City, Florida.

“We’re determined to find justice and see Suarez-Contreras held accountable for his reckless actions,” Murphy’s twin daughters, Beth Schulz and Amy Edge, told News Media on a phone call. “She touched so many lives as an amazing friend, teacher, mother and grandmother.”

Her family remembers her as “a light” who was “vibrant with so many more memories to be made.”

    Crashes injuring pedestrians

About 16% of fatal traffic crashes in the U.S. involved drivers with invalid licenses in 2024, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). That same year, 7,080 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes and more than 71,000 pedestrians were injured.

The state of Florida reported 10,501 pedestrian-related crashes in 2024, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. There were 678 deaths attributed to those incidents. Drivers failing to look behind them when backing a vehicle in a parking lot is listed as one of the most common reasons for pedestrian crashes by NHTSA.

The Georgia Department of Driver Services told News Media that Suarez-Contreras’ license has been canceled. The agency would not say when it was canceled, citing privacy reasons.

The attorney defending Suarez-Contreras told News Media in an email that his client “didn’t commit any crime regarding the charges he was arrested on.”

“It’s simply an unfortunate incident and not criminal in nature,” wrote Russell Ramey of Musca Law in Panama City.

One of Murphy’s grandchildren presented the family with a collection of reflections on life from Murphy in her own words, her daughters said.

“My husband and I always felt that the best thing we could do for generations to come would be to leave this world with people who would make a difference,” Murphy wrote in one of the reflections shared with News Media.

“It has been a delight to witness one’s own legacy. I thank my daughters for making our dream come true!!”

Pamela Anderson Declines ‘Baywatch’ Reboot, Opts for Bold Career Moves

    0

Pamela Anderson has firmly stated she will not reprise her iconic role as CJ Parker.

With Fox gearing up for its much-anticipated Baywatch reboot, Anderson clarified she has “no plans” to return to the franchise that catapulted her to international stardom. Following the acclaim she received for her Golden Globe-nominated performance in The Last Showgirl, the actress expressed to Deadline her focus is now on exploring fresh creative ventures rather than treading familiar ground.

“No one’s approached me about it. I’m not really familiar with the details. I understand there were discussions involving my sons regarding production roles, but it didn’t seem to progress. I’m not sure what transpired, but I hope it turns out well. Working on the show was a fantastic experience, and I truly enjoyed my days at the beach. Back then, it was an invaluable learning experience that gave me global recognition. Every step has brought me to this point, and for that, I’m grateful. However, I have no intention of returning to Baywatch,” she revealed.

Anderson’s decision does not stem from any negative experiences. On the contrary, she reminisces about her time on the series with affection, yet she is keen to venture into new territory rather than dwell on the past.

“If my sons had been involved, perhaps I’d have considered it,” Anderson added. “I’m eager to see what else lies ahead. There’s an abundance of excellent television out there right now, but I’ve already been part of that world. Now, the moment has come for me to explore different roles. I’m not looking to simply pass the time until the year ends. I have exciting options and ideas, including possibly returning to the theater. I want to make daring choices, surprise people, and surprise myself. So I’m seeking opportunities I haven’t pursued before.”

Anderson played fan-favorite lifeguard CJ Parker from 1992 through 1997 before reprising the role for a cameo in the 2017 Baywatch movie.

The new series, which is currently filming, centers on Hobie Buchannon (Stephen Amell), who has followed in the footsteps of his legendary father, Mitch Buchannon — played by David Hasselhoff in the original series — by becoming a Baywatch captain. His life is thrown into turmoil when Charlie (Jessica Belkin), the daughter he never knew he had, arrives hoping to continue the Buchannon family legacy by joining Baywatch alongside her father.

The cast also includes Shay Mitchell as Trina, Hassie Harrison as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, Noah Beck as Luke and Brooks Nader as Selene. Livvy Dunne is set to make her acting debut in a recurring role as Grace, while original Baywatch stars David Chokachi and Erika Eleniak will reprise their roles as Cody Madison and Shauni McClain.

The reboot is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, with Burn Notice creator Matt Nix serving as showrunner and executive producer. McG directs the premiere and executive produces alongside Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz.

Israel Detains 70+ Post-Deadly West Bank Clashes: Updates

    0

(The Hill) — In a sweeping overnight operation from Friday into Saturday, Israeli military forces apprehended more than 70 individuals throughout the occupied West Bank. This action followed a deadly clash in a northern Palestinian village that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and four Palestinians.

Amin Shuman, who leads the Palestinian higher commission for the affairs of prisoners, informed the Associated Press that over 80 Palestinians were taken into custody across the West Bank. He accused Israel of enforcing “collective punitive measures and retaliatory policies,” highlighting the tense atmosphere in the region.

Even as the situation unfolded, Israeli troops remained stationed in the village of Tell on Saturday. Local reports indicate extensive military operations were underway, including a significant raid at the Nablus Specialty Hospital, located in the nearby city of Nablus.

Ghassan Barkat, director of the hospital, recounted to the AP a harrowing scene where “more than 50 armed soldiers and officers stormed the hospital, instilling fear among patients.” The incursion, which took place on Friday, saw military personnel detain hospital staff and patients, and arrest an injured Palestinian amid witnesses that included women and children.

“Such actions have no place in a healthcare setting,” Barkat expressed to the news outlet.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said four Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire during the clashes. The Israeli military confirmed that two Israeli soldiers were killed, including one who served in a local settler defense squad. Two other Israelis and four Palestinians were wounded.

While a fragile ceasefire has largely halted large-scale fighting, Israel has continued carrying out airstrikes in Gaza, where Gaza’s Health Ministry says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel.

Meghan Markle Drops Royal Title on MasterChef, Embraces Authenticity

    0

During her appearance on MasterChef Australia on Sunday night, Meghan Markle expressed her preference not to be addressed as ‘Duchess’ when Poh Ling Yeow introduced her.

At 44, the former Duchess of Sussex made a much-awaited appearance on the beloved cooking show. Her participation was recorded last April during a tour down under alongside her husband, Prince Harry.

Before Meghan stepped onto the set, host Poh Ling Yeow informed the contestants about the excitement of having a ‘mystery guest judge.’ She replaced Andy Allen, who was on paternity leave, and Poh struggled to contain her enthusiasm without resorting to some colorful language.

Meghan confidently made her entrance into the MasterChef kitchen, leaving the aspiring cooks awestruck.

As Poh warmly embraced her, she asked, “Welcome. Should I refer to you as Duchess?”

‘Oh, call me Meghan. Absolutely, yeah,’ she insisted.

Meghan’s insistence that the cast use her first name rather than her title comes after her alleged sensitivities over claims that her Australian tour with Prince Harry back in April was cashing in on their royal links.

She was reportedly ‘frustrated’ when she was described as ‘royalty’ in a promo for Australia’s wildly popular reality TV show.

Meghan and her team had ‘specifically’ made clear they did not want the word ‘royal’ used, a source said at the time the promo was released.

The report went on to claim Meghan was worried about being described as royalty, despite the fact that, through her marriage to Harry, the term is technically correct.

After introducing herself as ‘Meghan’ on the show on Sunday night, she went on to declare her love for the land Down Under, explaining the trip was a ‘full circle’ moment for her and her husband as they had announced they were expecting their son, Prince Archie, while visiting the country eight years ago.

‘Oh, we’re so excited. We love Australia. We had the most sentimental, amazing time. We were here almost eight years ago. We announced we were pregnant with Archie at the time. So, it’s full circle, here we are, but thrilled to be here with all of you and taste some really good food. I’ve heard you’ve been cooking up a storm this season,’ she said.

Meghan then went on to proudly boast that both her children – Archie, eight, and Princess Lilibet, five –  enjoy eating Brussels sprouts and encouraged the contestants to ‘keep a sense of humour’.

Before Meghan arrived on set, Poh told the contestants she was so excited to introduce a mystery guest judge filling in for Andy Allen , who was on paternity leave, that she was trying to refrain from 'swearing'

For Meghan’s guest spot, contestants of the hit show were asked to create a ‘dish fit for a Duchess’ using ingredients she handpicked from the pantry.

She asked them to whip up a dish using ingredients like honey, macadamia nuts, citrus, celeriac and her favourite, edible flowers.

As she unveiled a table laden with seasonal produce, Meghan told the contestants ‘my kids eat Brussels sprouts’, as judge Poh Ling Yeow could be heard saying ‘that’s impressive’.

The Duchess, whose Netflix series With Love, Meghan was recently nominated for a Daytime Emmy, also had a few words of wisdom for the contestants as she acknowledged ‘there is a lot of pressure in this kitchen’.

‘I don’t like to cook that way; I like to cook in a really relaxed fashion,’ she said.

‘So, all I can say to the competitors is to just remember to have fun, to keep a sense of humour about it, and to cook from the heart.’

Meghan added that ‘food and cooking are how I show my nurturing and love for my friends, family and my kids’ in a sweet nod to her children.

She told the contestants: ‘The hope is that you’ll really hone in on one (item) as your hero item. These are all things that, for me, feel really nostalgic. And I love if there’s a connection that you can find when, as you’re cooking something, you ask: what is the story behind it? It almost feels like an heirloom, right? What is something from your family or from a memory, something sentimental that we can also taste as we taste your dish?’

Meghan has said her love of good food and Australia were the two reasons she chose to be a guest judge on the country’s biggest cooking show.

‘What attracted me to the MasterChef Australia kitchen? Two things: my love of food and my love of Australia. It was an easy yes,’ she said in a press release announcing the broadcast date.

‘It’s such a great show. I’m just really honoured that I was asked to be here with you and to be able to judge some of these meals.’

Meghan earned a surprise Daytime Emmy nomination for her axed Netflix cooking series – eight years after she ‘politely turned down’ an invite to the glitzy awards.

She launched the first series of With Love, Meghan on the streaming platform in March 2025, alongside unveiling her lifestyle brand As Ever.

A second series and Christmas special followed, with the mother-of-two offering hosting tips and cooking lessons from inside a rented multimillion-dollar mansion near her and Prince Harry’s Montecito home.
