Intense Manhunt: Masked Gunman Allegedly Shoots NYC Cab Driver in Overnight Robbery

0

Authorities in New York City are on the hunt for a masked assailant who is accused of shooting a young cab driver in the face amid a late-night heist in Brooklyn.

As reported by Fox 5 New York from a NYPD press release, the incident unfolded around 4 a.m. on Saturday. The target was a TLC-licensed livery cab, a type of taxi frequently used for pre-arranged transport rather than picking up street-hailing passengers.

The law enforcement officials disclosed that the suspected gunman entered the cab, allegedly menaced the driver while demanding cash and the vehicle’s keys.

The driver was trying to flee the cab when the suspect discharged his weapon, resulting in a bullet striking the driver in the face.

“The victim proceeded to exit the vehicle when the unidentified individual discharged a firearm striking the 21-year-old male victim in the face,” police said.

The suspect fled the scene on foot after stealing “an unknown amount of currency,” police said.

Matt Freese Faces Intense Boos in NYCFC Return Debut

0

Forgiveness seems elusive for Matt Freese among American soccer fans, especially those in Columbus.

The goalkeeper for the U.S. men’s national team faced a chorus of boos every time he handled the ball during New York City FC’s game, their first since the World Cup break.

In a tightly contested match, NYCFC managed to secure a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Crew. However, in Ohio’s heartland at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field, Freese became the focal point of disdain as fans expressed their displeasure.

Some supporters still seemed upset about Freese’s misstep during the U.S. team’s World Cup clash against Belgium. His critical error, which helped Belgium score their third goal, apparently lingered in the minds of these passionate fans.

The jeers began the moment Freese touched the ball in the third minute, with Columbus fans echoing “SHAME!” shortly thereafter. The booing intensified in the sixth minute as Thiago Martins passed it back to him, amplifying the crowd’s response.

Later in the first half, the Apple TV broadcast zoomed in on one Columbus fan who was giving him a thumbs-down.

The reception didn’t appear to bother Freese much on the pitch, as the New York City FC goalkeeper made three saves against Columbus to help his club win its sixth game of the season.

NYCFC head coach Pascal Jansen said that Freese’s performance “speaks for itself” when asked by The Post about the goalkeeper’s reception Wednesday night.

“He’s not worried about these things. He has to go through it,” Jansen said. “Everybody is apparently still very disappointed either with the performance from the national team as one, and maybe in particular Matty’s performance, given the last game that he played, and what happened in that game.

“But that is something that Matty has to deal with, and he’ll get through that with the support of everybody around him, but especially the locker room. We’re not worried one bit.”

Freese was not made available to the media following the win in Columbus, but he had spoken to The Post last week in a lengthy phone interview in which he expressed a desire to not let the World Cup mistake “define my career.”

The 27-year-old had said that he had received plenty of support from American soccer fans during his trip back to New York, with young fans and their parents approaching him at the airport to tell him how they had fallen in love with soccer.

Jansen believed that Freese’s performance Wednesday night showed how well he can handle the challenges.

“If you look at how he played today, even though they were booing him, because it wasn’t just a little bit, it was almost the whole stadium that was booing him,” the coach explained. “Trying to get him off his game. But if you look back at how he handled himself, you can only give him a massive compliment for how he presented himself today.”

Olivia Wilde Criticizes Elon Musk: Insights from Their Encounter

0

Olivia Wilde has taken a strong stance against Elon Musk, whom she met years ago in Los Angeles, referring to him as a ‘creature.’

The accomplished actress and director shared her feelings about the billionaire, expressing disbelief at the path he’s chosen to tread.

“I really resent him now—I really deeply resent him,” Wilde, aged 42, revealed during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast.

Reflecting on their meeting long ago, she mentioned that at the time SpaceX had just established its Los Angeles headquarters, and she toured the facility out of interest in their rocket technology.

This was, as she described, “before he turned into this creature.” During that period, Musk had shown interest in contributing financially to a Haitian organization Wilde was involved with, dedicated to constructing schools and hospitals.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for the actress and Musk’s company Tesla for further comment.

Wilde believes Musk ‘did donate a little bit of money’ at the time, which she ‘appreciated.’

She went on: ‘I was confused by him. I would never have predicted he would go down the path he has gone down. He did seem really smart.’

One of the issues Wilde takes exception to is what she sees as Musk’s promotion of misogynistic incel culture including the notion that men are more powerful than nature.

The former House star cited Musk’s statements ‘about how we don’t have enough people and the world is underpopulated and we could handle another billion people.’

Indeed, the South African-born entrepreneur whose portfolio also includes Tesla remarked in 2022 that the world faces an underpopulation crisis that could forever change human life on Earth.

And in 2017 he suggested that the number of people on Earth is ‘accelerating towards collapse but few seem to notice or care.’

In Wilde’s directorial debut Don’t Worry Darling, actor Chris Pine played a character which she says was inspired by Canadian psychologist and author Jordan Peterson.

While promoting the film, she dubbed Peterson a ‘pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community’ and defined incels as ‘disenfranchised, mostly white men, who believe they are entitled to sex from women.’

However, in her interview with Theroux, she characterized her past labeling of Peterson as ‘a pseudo-intellectual’ as ‘unfair.’

Has Elon Musk’s influence helped or harmed social attitudes toward women and power?

She said of Peterson: ‘He obviously thinks about things deeply, but I just feel that he operates in a way that is a buttoned-up version of the type of thinkers that lead to the Andrew Tates of the world.’

‘There are different layers to that community, some of whom speak more clearly the points they are all actually filtering through.’

The actress, who shares two children with ex Jason Sudeikis, explained that her ‘issue with Peterson is a lot of people who are not in any way misogynist have adopted this sanitized version of the same philosophy that’s rooted in deep misogyny and weaponized by the incel community – the basic point of it is entitlement to power.’

‘I was disturbed by what I saw as this misogyny that was being weaponized and leading us to elect Donald Trump twice and beyond that just empower these groups of people who I think are dangerous.’

Peterson responded to Wilde’s 2022 remarks shortly after she made them in a tearful interview with Piers Morgan.

‘People have been after me for a long time because I’ve been speaking to disaffected men – and what a terrible thing to do that is,’ he said.

‘I thought the marginalized were supposed to have a voice.’

He went on: ‘You get these casual insults, like ‘you incels’. What does that even mean?’

‘These men don’t know how to make themselves attractive to women and they are picky. And good for them, women you be picky, that’s your gift. Demand high standards from your man, fair enough.

‘But all these men who are alienated it’s like, they’re lonesome and they don’t know what to do and everyone piles abuse on them,’ he said.

Congress Moves to Curb Lawmaker Stock Investments

0

Washington — On Wednesday, the House passed a bill that imposes certain constraints on congressional stock trading. However, its path to acceptance was not without obstacles, as the absence of more stringent measures and the addition of a voter ID proposal muddled Democratic support.

In a show of cross-party voting, the bill succeeded with a 232 to 198 tally, drawing support from 13 Democrats alongside the entire Republican delegation.

Authored by Representative Bryan Steil from Wisconsin and first introduced in January, the Stop Insider Trading Act aims to curb potential financial conflicts of interest by forbidding members of Congress, as well as their spouses and dependent children, from purchasing publicly traded stocks. Adding a layer of transparency, the legislation mandates that lawmakers announce their intention to sell stocks at least a week in advance by notifying the House clerk or the Senate secretary. Failing to comply with these rules would result in a penalty, which includes a fine of $2,000 or 10% of the transaction’s value, whichever is larger, and the surrender of any gains garnered from the sale.

Representative Steil emphasized on Monday that the proposal “ensures that lawmakers cannot use their position to profit off insider information they may garner while serving in Congress.”

The Republicans tied the stock trading legislation to a separate clause mandating photo identification for voters in federal elections, aligning with President Trump’s efforts to enforce stricter voter eligibility requirements.

Democrats panned the bill as not going far enough, pushing for an outright ban on members of Congress from owning stocks and for those limits to also extend to the president and administration officials.

“This bill would, in fact, allow members of Congress to continue to own and trade individual stocks. The bill would let members of Congress keep every single share of stock they currently own. The bill would allow members to liquidate their holdings at any time, profiting off years of ballooning investment portfolios. There is no divestiture required under this bill, and crucially, the bill does nothing to rein in the unprecedented, absurd, and deeply offensive corruption currently taking place in the White House,” Rep. Joe Morelle of New York said Monday.

Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington called the measure “a fake stock trading ban.”

There have been various efforts in Congress to pass a congressional stock trading ban, with proponents saying current law does little to discourage public officials from using their positions for personal gain. Under a 13-year-old law known as the STOCK Act, members of Congress, executive branch officials and other federal employees are prohibited from using nonpublic information for their financial benefit. The law also requires officials to disclose stock trades exceeding $1,000 within 45 days. But no member of Congress has ever been prosecuted under the current law, despite violations.

Late last year, Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida followed through on a monthslong threat to try to force a vote on the bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act, which would prohibit members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children from owning or trading individual stocks. But her discharge petition to circumvent GOP leaders and bring the bill to the House floor is still far short of the 218 signatures needed to move forward.

A discharge petition led by Morelle on a Democratic measure of a similar name, the Restore Trust in Government Act, is much closer to the threshold, but still dozens of names short. The measure would ban members of Congress, the president, vice president and their families from owning or trading individual stocks.

After Luna filed her discharge petition, House Speaker Mike Johnson said he was working with Steil, the chairman of the House Administration Committee, to find other paths to address the issue. Steil’s bill was born of that effort.

Last year, a bill spearheaded by GOP Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri to ban lawmakers, the president, vice president and their families from owning stocks advanced out of committee, but has since sat idle in the upper chamber.

GOP Rep. Chip Roy of Texas, the lead sponsor of the Restore Trust in Congress Act, called for Steil’s stock trading bill to get a vote without the voter ID provision in recognition of the bipartisan negotiations that led to Wednesday’s vote.

“I think we should be having a straight up-or-down vote on the stock trading bill,” Roy said during floor debate Wednesday. “I think my friends that worked in good faith to do that deserve that on both sides of the aisle.”

“I’m not done this year demanding that we have a straight up-or-down vote on stock trading,” he added.

Miranda Devine Criticizes Smithsonian for Straying from Founding Fathers’ Vision with Communist Influences

0

For those pondering how communism has gained traction in the United States, a surprising source may be a key factor: the Smithsonian Institution.

This renowned museum, one of the most significant cultural establishments globally, has reportedly fallen under the sway of Marxist ideologies, serving anti-American narratives to its 20 million annual visitors and an equal number of students.

At the Smithsonian, values such as “politeness,” “punctuality,” “objectivity,” and “hard work” are labeled as facets of white supremacy, and the character Mickey Mouse is criticized as blackface. Notably absent are major exhibits on George Washington or other Founding Fathers.

Instead, the institution conveys that Benjamin Franklin mistreated his slaves, attributing his achievements to them, and paints Christopher Columbus as a violent racist, emphasizing that today’s society exists on stolen land.

Simultaneously, the Smithsonian highlights themes of transgender issues and sexually explicit topics like bondage and sadomasochism, while advocating for voting rights for undocumented immigrants.

During the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, the Smithsonian’s woke Secretary Lonnie Bunch sent curators onto the streets to collect trash left behind by arsonists, vandals, looters and useful idiots as “historical artifacts that need to be collected and saved for posterity,” according to the Heritage Foundation, which has been chronicling the downfall of a once-great 179-year-old institution.

Generations of American children have been brought up to revere the Smithsonian.

Yet it abuses its $1.3 billion annual budget — 62% from the taxpayer — to persuade impressionable minds that everything about America is irredeemably racist and evil and must be dismantled.

‘Tool of social justice’

And the supercilious congressional testimony this week of Smithsonian boss Anthea Hartig shows that she has no intention of changing a thing.

A California transplant who once described herself as “propped up . . . by the cushions of whiteness and the pillows of the bourgeoisie” has described history as a “prime tool of social justice” and noted how “we work to reframe the traditional celebratory narrative of US history for visitors.”

Grilled by Texas Republican Rep. Brandon Gill Tuesday, she dripped with arrogance, defiance and elitist contempt.

“Is Mickey Mouse racist?” Gill asked her.

“Mickey Mouse is not racist,” she replied.

“According to . . . one of your exhibits, Mickey Mouse represents ‘vestiges of long-standing traditions of blackface minstrelsy.’ Would you describe that as racist?” Gill asked.

Hartig then launched into a waffling mini-dissertation of Mickey’s “historical trajectory” to avoid the question before Gill forced her into admitting she believes that the beloved mouse is “rooted in minstrelsy [with] certain obvious racial overtones.”

Every week, Post columnist Miranda Devine sits down for exclusive and candid conversations with the most influential disruptors in Washington on ‘Pod Force One.’ Subscribe here!

There was a lot more.

“Is it important to be polite?” Gill asked her silkily.

“Yes, sir.”

“Your organization . . . references politeness as a defining characteristic of white-supremacy culture. Ma’am, are you a white supremacist?”

“Hmmm. No, sir,” she said snootily, as if his question were absurd, when it is her museum that she has turned into an expensive laughingstock.

“Would you say the goal of history is to be objective?” Gill asked.

Hartig waffled about “many goals of history.”

Gill then quoted from “a white-supremacy document your organization has promoted for many years under your leadership [that] references objectivity as a defining characteristic of white-supremacy culture.”

Hartig tried to feign ignorance about the document, despite the fact that the Smithsonian has adopted and promoted the MASS Action Toolkit in staff development and educational material since the start of her tenure in 2019.

The screed was developed by a left-wing activist coalition, Museums as Sites for Social Action, that is dedicated to using museums as platforms for social justice, “anti-racism” and “equity” and funded by the DEI-obsessed Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, among others. Smithsonian staffers were even involved in its inception.

Reeking of DEI

“It’s not our toolkit,” Hartig said.

Gill pressed her.

“We did not come up with the toolkit.”

Finally she admitted the document has been “used as a reference.”

It doesn’t get much more disingenuous than Hartig’s feigned surprise, unless she has the memory of a goldfish.

In July 2020, it was big news when she was excoriated by the first Trump White House for a Smithsonian exhibit that listed the evils of “whiteness” as “rugged individualism, self-reliance, hard work, objectivity, the nuclear family, progress, respect for authority, delayed gratification” and so on.

The nuclear family “father, mother, 2.3 children is another dreadful symptom of “whiteness.”

As is the “Scientific Method: Objective, rational linear thinking.”

Whiteness also holds that “Christianity is the norm” and “anything other than Judeo-Christian tradition is foreign.”

You get the drift.

And of course, the unspoken goal is that “whiteness” must be eradicated.

A more depressing or demoralizing message you could not imagine.

Poor James Smithson — the British scientist and 18th-century creature of the Enlightenment who bequeathed his fortune to the US to establish the Smithsonian Institution — must be rolling in his grave.

His instructions were that it be “an establishment for the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men.” How Hartig and pals must hate that motto.

President Lyndon Johnson later expanded the Smithsonian to include the National Museum of American History in 1964 to focus on American achievement and patriotism.

Today it does the opposite.

Radical ideology

Back in 2020, the White House Domestic Policy Council issued a 162-page report saying the Smithsonian had been captured by a “radical, activist ideology that is fundamentally opposed to telling the noble, honest story of” America.

Hartig’s leadership was blamed for forcing Smithsonian exhibits to be all about “race/identity, gender/sexuality, climate change, immigration/migrations, economic inequality, technological change and nationalism/globalism.”

But nothing was done, and during the Biden years the Smithsonian only further entrenched its sick wokery.

It’s beyond time that Congress defunds the Smithsonian unless it reverts to its founding principles.

Joe Rogan Reveals Shocking Arrest of Podcast Guest on Murder Charges

0

In a shocking revelation, Joe Rogan recounted on his podcast that one of his former guests has been apprehended for a gruesome murder.

During the latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan discussed the accusations against Sheldon Johnson, who allegedly ‘decapitated’ someone shortly after his appearance on the podcast in February 2024.

Rogan explained to his guest, Zach Bush, that after recording the podcast, Johnson allegedly visited a man with whom he had a longstanding dispute. The shocking details include claims that Johnson murdered the man, decapitated him, dressed the body in a suit and wig, and attempted to flee the scene via the hallways captured on surveillance footage.

‘It’s wild to think that he was sitting right here, and just a few weeks later, he is accused of such a heinous crime,’ remarked Rogan.

In March 2024, Johnson was taken into custody, facing serious charges including murder, manslaughter, illegal weapon possession, and hiding a human body, as reported by the New York Police Department.

The ex-convict pleaded not guilty to all charges in connection with the fatal shooting and dismemberment of 44-year-old Colin Small at his apartment in the Bronx on March 5, according to officials.

Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said in a statement: ‘The defendant allegedly shot the victim in the head and then carved up the man’s body, taking drastic measures to hide the evidence. This crime was as cruel as it was gruesome.’

Police officers went to Small’s apartment to conduct a welfare check after a neighbor reported hearing a man pleading for his life, followed by multiple gunshots.

Investigators found a torso and arms inside the apartment before obtaining a search warrant for Johnson’s apartment. There, they allegedly found the victim’s legs and head in a freezer.

According to officials, surveillance footage showed Johnson entering and leaving the victim’s apartment while carrying multiple bags and cleaning supplies.

He was also allegedly wearing a wig, sunglasses, a mask and different clothing.

Police told CNN that, at one point, the alleged killer was seen carrying a blue storage bin. Authorities later found a similar bin inside the victim’s apartment with Small’s torso.

Johnson appeared on Rogan’s podcast alongside Josh Dubin, a civil rights attorney who advocates for people he believes were wrongly incarcerated.

During the interview, Johnson discussed turning his life around and working as a criminal justice reform advocate.

‘It was at that moment that I really said, “I have to change my life. I have to change my life. I just can’t do this anymore,”‘ Johnson said.

‘I had a wife, I had kids, I had family still. My son was growing up, hearing stories of my so-called notoriety. I just didn’t want to be that dad.’

Johnson previously served 25 years in prison for attempted murder.

Even his father, Sheldon Johnson Sr, thought that his son had been reformed, telling the New York Post in 2024: ‘I am surprised my son was arrested. I was shocked.’

‘He learned and studied in prison for 26 years. He is a good man. He was doing work in a law office. There were no problems.’

During Johnson’s appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, he wore a Queens Defenders shirt and had been working as a staff member at the public defense organization.

‘I think he threw his life away, but I still love him,’ his father said. ‘I don’t know what happened. I live in New Jersey, and he lives in New York.’

‘He didn’t talk enough with the family.’

Jimothy the Raccoon: The Internet’s Newest Heartfelt Sensation

A new sensation is captivating the online world.

Jimothy, the raccoon from Seattle, has captured the internet’s attention after a video showing his quirky way of moving went viral.

The raccoon’s distinct look and gait can be attributed to a spinal deformity, which results in his short, rounded body paired with unusually long legs.

Jimothy became an internet darling after Instagram user Kiana Hall shared a video of his unique scampering, capturing the moment with the caption, “What am I looking at?”

Hall affectionately named the adorable raccoon Jimothy, explaining to Today in an interview on July 18, “He just seemed like a ‘Jimothy’ to me. There’s no other reason than when I saw him, he just looked like a ‘Jimothy.’”

Jimothy sightings have since continued around Seattle, with fans of the raccoon posting his whereabouts as he runs around the city, with one X user even sharing a video of a baby Jimothy walking around their friend’s backyard.

Rebel Wilson Triumphs in Defamation Battle Against Co-star from ‘The Deb

0

Following a heated international legal battle that has captured headlines for years, Hollywood star Rebel Wilson has been cleared of defamation allegations made by her co-star through a series of social media exchanges.

Wilson, renowned for her role in the Pitch Perfect franchise, faced a lawsuit from fellow Australian actress Charlotte MacInnes. MacInnes claimed defamation after starring in Wilson’s directorial debut film, The Deb.

According to MacInnes, Wilson’s social media posts suggested she had compromised her integrity by retracting a sexual harassment claim for career advancement, labeling her as deceitful and opportunistic.

These online accusations purported that MacInnes had initially confided in Wilson about feeling uneasy after the film’s co-producer, Amanda Ghost, allegedly proposed they share a shower and bath.

However, MacInnes refuted these allegations, stating she neither filed nor withdrew a complaint. She maintained that her comfort was not threatened when she and Ghost bathed together—in swimwear—tied to Ghost’s medical emergency back in September 2023.

Two months after the conclusion of the hotly contested court fight in the Federal Court, Justice Elizabeth Raper found in favour of Wilson on Wednesday.

“MacInnes has failed to establish that the publications have caused or were likely to cause serious harm,” she said.

MacInnes’ barrister Sue Chrysanthou accused Wilson of a “complete revision of history” littered with dishonesty during her emphatic closing address in May.

“She is a fantastical liar who has made up terrible, terrible allegations about multiple people and her own witnesses have discredited her,” she said.

“We say Ms Wilson cannot be believed on anything she has said.”

But Wilson repeatedly denied accusations she fabricated the complaint or raised it for leverage during disputes with her co-producers over the film’s budget and writing credit.

“I am known as a truth-teller,” she declared during the hearing.

That was what she had been doing when she posted the stories to her 11 million followers, the Bridesmaids star said.

“I don’t classify it as an attack, I classify it as telling the truth,” she told the court.

Her barrister, Dauid Sibtain, said his client had “no motive to lie” about something that would endanger her film by driving a wedge between her lead actor and a producer.

Instead, he accused MacInnes of dishonestly withdrawing the complaint about Ghost to ensure her relationship with the producer continued to be fruitful.

MacInnes had received a lead role in a stage production and a six-figure record deal that were linked to Ms Ghost, he argued, and she wanted to ensure she continued to rise.

“Ms MacInnes is someone who gave false evidence under oath,” he said.

“(She) has suffered no harm, let alone serious harm.”

The young actor sought aggravated damages for the harm allegedly wrought by the posts, including anxiety and a period without work.
