Meghan was elegantly dressed in a navy buttoned maxi dress paired with sophisticated black stiletto heels.

Prince Harry was dressed in a crisp white shirt with an unbuttoned navy blazer and suit pants.

The Royal Children’s Hospital has a storied royal history.

The hospital was opened by Harry’s late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II in 1963, and she returned in 2011 after it underwent major renovations.

Harry’s parents, now-King Charles III and the late Princess Diana, also visited the hospital during their royal tour of Australia in 1985.

Unwavering Love: Dakota Mortensen’s Heartfelt Confession About Taylor Frankie Paul

Taylor Frankie Paul wears a tan dress at the Oscars.

In an unexpected twist, Dakota Mortensen has taken a bold step in his ongoing saga with Taylor Frankie Paul, reportedly getting her initials tattooed on the inside of his lip. This surprising gesture suggests that even after the tumultuous end of their relationship, Mortensen has not completely moved on from Paul.

Their relationship has been under public scrutiny ever since Paul’s arrest in 2023. The former couple has exchanged accusations of domestic violence, leading to separate protective orders filed against each other. Paul has claimed that Mortensen’s behavior was overly possessive, a charge that has only added fuel to their already fiery situation. Despite the turmoil, Mortensen recently confessed that he still harbors feelings for Paul.

Dakota Mortensen said he didn’t move on from Taylor Frankie Paul

Paul recently filed a protective order against Mortensen, several weeks after he filed one against her. In her filing, she said that as recently as February, he sent her text messages saying things like “I want you forever,” “I still love and want you,” and asking her to “give me a chance.”

On Feb. 17, she said she learned he had tattooed her initials on the inside of his lip.

“Considering his increasingly possessive and erratic behavior, and considering the fact that we were not in a relationship, this was extremely alarming,” she wrote, per People. “My initials are now permanently tattooed on the body of a man who has been abusive toward and possessive of me.”

Mortensen himself admitted that he had not moved on from his former girlfriend.

“I never have moved on from Taylor and I was just waiting for her,” he said on Unwell Winter Games. “I was like, maybe I’ll have a chance. … I found out she was talking to another guy, hooked up with him, then hooked up with me.”

Paul said that she told Mortensen that their relationship is permanently over.

Phil Collins

With a career spanning over 50 years, Phil Collins – a drummer, singer, songwriter, producer and rock ‘n’ roll icon – is one of the most commercially successful artists of all time, selling more than 150 million records worldwide as both a solo artist and a member of Genesis. Collins first rose to prominence behind the drum kit, but his distinctive voice and emotionally direct songwriting made him a global star. While he started in progressive rock, he embraced pop, R&B, and soul – skillfully bridging genres with an instinct for melody and feel.

Billy Idol

Billy Idol brought the look and sound of punk rock to the masses. A seminal figure of the London scene, Idol became a household name in America in the 1980s through heavy radio airplay and continuous rotation on MTV. Idol’s signature sound – rock ‘n’ roll with a crooner’s soul – created some of the most enduring hits of the 1980s and beyond. His distinctive vocals, charisma, and iconic look – platinum hair, black leather, and signature sneer – made him the perfect artist for the video age. Inductees include: Billy Idol, Steve Stevens

Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden created the blueprint for how heavy metal bands should look, sound, and tour. Throughout the 1980s, the British group released seven high-octane albums that solidified them as one of rock ‘n’ roll’s biggest bands. Inductees include: Clive Burr, Paul Di’Anno, Bruce Dickinson, Janick Gers, Steve Harris, Nicko McBrain, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Dennis Stratton.

Joy Division/New Order

Joy Division and New Order were postpunk pioneers and electronic dance-floor innovators, inspiring thousands of bands and becoming a beacon for millions of listeners. Spearheading the late 1970s Manchester music scene, their story is a remarkable tale of revolution, metamorphosis, and influence. Their dark and droning transmissions “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and “Blue Monday” were foundational to both dance music and alternative rock, and they still resonate deeply with outsiders and adventurous souls. They were innovative musicians who created something revolutionary and massively influential – not once, but twice. Inductees include: Ian Curtis, Gillian Gilbert, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, Bernard Sumner.

Oasis

Oasis are one of the most successful and influential acts of all time. Exploding out of the 1990s U.K. music scene, they reclaimed big, brash, hook-filled rock ‘n’ roll with their anthemic sound, cool swagger, expertly crafted lyrics, and electrifying live performances – eventually selling over a hundred million records. Their songs have become England’s go-to anthems, sung in unison by fans at sporting events and social gatherings and inspiring countless bands including the Killers and Arctic Monkeys. Inductees include: Gem Archer, Paul Arthurs, Andy Bell, Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Tony McCarroll.

Sade

With a career spanning four decades, Sade have blended jazz, soul, and R&B to create a sound that’s all their own – laid-back rhythms, elegant arrangements, melodic saxophone lines, and, of course, the smooth, sultry, mesmerizing vocals of their lead singer Sade Adu. As the musical landscape around them changed, Sade’s music has endured – their songs of love, life, and loss resonate with listeners on a deeply personal level. Sade’s six studio albums have sold over fifty million copies, earned countless critical accolades, and built an extremely loyal fanbase. Responsible for the era’s most enduring love songs, he crafted our soundtrack and gave us words to express our love, our vulnerability and our joy. With unparalleled vocals, raw emotion, and unmatched charm, Vandross captured the essence of love’s power like no one else. Few could match his creative prowess as a songwriter, producer and arranger. Equally impressive, he was an unrivaled interpreter, with his “velvet voice” consistently breathing new life into classic songs. Insight: The Permanent Rift Between King Charles and Prince Andrew

0

According to information obtained by the Daily Mail, King Charles is unlikely to ever reconcile with his brother, Prince Andrew, due to Andrew’s involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal.

Speculation arose earlier this week when it was revealed that Prince Edward had quietly visited Andrew, who has been staying in seclusion at the Sandringham estate. This visit hinted at a possible softening of the royal family’s stance towards Andrew.

Adding to this speculation, it was reported that their sister, Princess Anne, had also recently reached out to Andrew, expressing concern for his well-being following his recent legal troubles.

However, royal insiders have been quick to dismiss the possibility of King Charles taking a similar approach. They firmly stated that there is “no chance whatsoever” of Charles mending fences with Andrew.

The estrangement between the 77-year-old King and his younger brother has been stark, persisting long before Andrew’s February arrest on charges related to his association with the convicted sex offender Epstein.

And there are numerous reasons why it is set to continue – ranging from the very personal to the matters of state, it’s said.

A source close to the royal family told the Daily Mail: ‘The hard reality is that the King may never speak to Andrew again.’

The source explained: ‘It would take an enormous shift in the King’s thinking for them even to be in the same room.

Andrew and Charles pictured in September 16, 2025 in London, at Katharine Duchess of Kent's funeral

Andrew and Charles pictured in September 16, 2025 in London, at Katharine Duchess of Kent’s funeral

‘The fact that Edward has now visited Andrew and that Anne has spoken to him too might appear to suggest that Charles might be contemplating some kind of rapprochement – but that’s completely wrong.

‘They were never close as brothers in the first place, with tensions between them which long predate the Epstein scandal.

‘While in the context of the Epstein case the King feels that he was lied to and that’s not easy to forgive.

‘And Charles is not just a brother in this situation but also the King – and in that capacity he has to protect the monarchy above all other considerations, even personal ones.’

It is a distinction that goes to the very heart of the crisis – the eternal tension between blood and duty.

And, say those who know the inner workings of the Royal Household, it is a calculation Charles made long ago.

For this is not simply about past scandals or reputational damage, grave though those issues undoubtedly are. Nor is it merely about distancing the monarchy from controversy in the short term.

It is about potentially catastrophic legal peril.

‘With Andrew being arrested and facing possible criminal charges,’ another source explains, ‘the risks are enormous.’

The concern, they say, is far from theoretical. In the febrile climate surrounding Andrew, any fresh development or revived line of inquiry could swiftly become entangled in the legal proceedings.

And therein lies a constitutional nightmare.

‘One must remember,’ the source continues, ‘If Andrew is charged and there were conversations with the King, his lawyers could say they are important and, as a result, try to call Charles to give evidence — which His Majesty cannot do, as the case is brought in his name, Rex v Mountbatten-Windsor. It would collapse.’

It is a chilling prospect. The King — constitutionally unable to appear in court — being drawn, even indirectly, into a criminal case involving his own brother.

And with widespread public opprobrium towards Andrew, were it to appear that the King had somehow aided him avoid prosecution there would almost certainly be uproar.

Prince Edward secretly visited disgraced Andrew in his 'exile' on the Sandringham estate. The brothers pictured in 2023

The ramifications for the justice system, let alone the monarchy, would be seismic.

And there is a precedent for this doomsday scenario — one that has not been forgotten in royal circles.

Palace veterans recall only too well the extraordinary intervention of the late Queen during the trial of former butler, Paul Burrell in 2002,when he was accused of stealing hundreds of items from the late Diana, Princess of Wales, following her death.

As his Old Bailey trial commenced, it dramatically emerged that Queen Elizabeth had been told by Burrell he was holding items for safekeeping.

The trial abruptly collapsed.

The implication is clear: even the most seemingly innocuous interaction between monarch and subject can have profound legal consequences.

Charles, ever mindful of history, appears determined not to repeat it – and so the silence continues: no private meetings, nor conversations that could later be scrutinised in a courtroom.

It is, in effect, a quarantine – imposed to defend not against a virus, but legal jeopardy.

There is also the risk of tarnishing the Royal ‘brand’, which Charles has been determined to avoid at all costs.

‘The unequivocal advice he has been given in regard to Andrew is that he is damaging the monarchy,’ the source adds, ‘so the King has to completely disassociate himself both publicly and privately from him.’

It is, those close to the situation suggest, a decision rooted not only in present danger but in decades of strained relations between the two brothers, who were always distant growing up, with more than 11 years separating them.

The toxic mix of disdain and resentment stretches back years – even decades – to a time when Andrew was widely regarded as the late Queen’s favourite, while Charles bore the burden of heir apparent.

There were differences in temperament, outlook, and – crucially – judgement.

'Edward and Anne are worried,' one insider confides. 'They're family, first and foremost. They don't want to see him completely cut off.'

‘Edward and Anne are worried,’ one insider confides. ‘They’re family, first and foremost. They don’t want to see him completely cut off.’

Charles, cautious and often introspective, was wary of Andrew’s more cavalier approach to public life. He is said to have harboured serious reservations about his brother’s role as a trade envoy, fearing that the position exposed both Andrew and the monarchy to unnecessary risk.

‘Charles has always been wary of his brother,’ says a former courtier. ‘He didn’t want him to be trade envoy in the first place. He could see the potential for reputational damage.’

That damage, of course, has since been done – and far more catastrophically than Charles could ever have envisaged.

Incredibly, Andrew, meanwhile, believed he should have been next-in-line to the throne, rather than Charles, as his biographer Andrew Lownie has told the Mail.

‘He has a long-standing hatred of his brother Charles, who he sees as weak,’ he said. ‘[Andrew] detested the attention and adulation Charles received as the future king, feeling he was best suited for the role and superior, in general, to the then Prince of Wales.’

The overriding motivation behind Anne and Edward’s ‘welfare checks’ are the fears, whispered in palace corridors, about Andrew’s mental state following his isolation and the toll exacted by years of scandal, scrutiny, and now exile from public life in his Norfolk bolthole.

‘Edward and Anne are worried,’ one insider confides. ‘They’re family, first and foremost. They don’t want to see him completely cut off.’

Some may view Charles’ stance as ruthless; others as a display of the necessary mettle required in his role.

For Charles, the Crown comes first. It always has, and when the time comes for his son to ascend to the throne, the King wants to be sure he’s left the institution in the best possible state.

If that means sacrificing what little personal relationship he had with Andrew, so be it.

Following that discreet contact from the Duke of Edinburgh in person and the Princess Royal (by phone) Charles’s silence has been cast into even sharper relief.

Because while Edward and his wife Sophie quietly visited Andrew at Sandringham and Princess

Anne made her own overtures, insiders insist this is not the beginning of a thaw — but rather the clearest signal yet that Charles has drawn a line in the sand.

Georgia’s Vidalia Sweet Onions Hit Stores Nationwide: Millions Packed and Shipped for Freshness

GLENNVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) — Monday marked a sweet milestone nationwide as countless Vidalia sweet onions were boxed and dispatched to retailers on the crop’s official packing day.

In response to Georgia’s climate patterns, the Georgia Agriculture Commissioner decided that April 13 was the ideal date for farmers to officially package and distribute the onions to stores across the U.S.

Cliff Riner, who oversees agricultural production and grower relations at G&R Farms, explained that timing regulations help preserve the integrity of the Vidalia onion brand by ensuring that only top-tier onions make it to market shelves.

“We have permission to harvest and prepare them, even categorize them into jumbos, mediums, and colossals,” Riner stated. “However, we must wait to label or bag them as Vidalia onions before they are shipped out.”

Farmers sowed the seeds in November, allowing the onions to develop during the year’s shorter daylight hours. According to Riner, the arrival of the spring equinox signals the conclusion of these shorter days, indicating the bulbs have fully matured.

Georgia’s sandy, low-sulfur soil helps produce the onion’s signature sweet flavor, according to Riner.

Once harvest begins, operations ramp up. G&R Farms supports about 25 year-round employees and hires about 140 additional workers through the H-2A program during the season.

The crop is grown by three growers across 20 counties, though Riner said Tattnall and Toombs counties are considered the “mecca” for producing Vidalia onions.

The industry serves as a major economic driver in Southeast Georgia, creating jobs and attracting visitors to the area. Riner considered it the farm’s “primary cash crop.”

“We have a lot of people coming out of here, that’s driven three or four hours just to come by and see what a lot of onion facility looks like,” said Riner. “They’re just as proud to have them as we are to grow them and ship them.”

The onions shipped on Monday were harvested about five days earlier. After drying and curing, they were brought to the warehouse, where they are sorted multiple times to ensure only high-quality onions make it into each box.

15 truckloads, carrying a total of about 15,000 40-pound boxes, were sent out on Monday. By the end of the season, about 500 truckloads are expected to head to stores across the country.

Riner said the Vidalia sweet onion season is estimated to last until Labor Day.

Iran Maintains Stance on Hormuz Blockade; Israel and Lebanon Gear Up for Peace Negotiations

0

In brief

  • The US-imposed deadline for the start of a military blockade on ships entering or leaving Iranian ports has passed.
  • Iranian authorities have warned that if Iranian ports were threatened, no port in the Gulf or Gulf of Oman would be secure.

The deadline for initiating a U.S. military blockade on ships departing Iranian ports has come and gone, as tensions rise following Iran’s threats to strike the ports of neighboring Gulf states. This escalation occurred after weekend negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict collapsed.

Oil prices have skyrocketed amid the turmoil, particularly given the lack of immediate prospects for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and alleviating the most significant disruption to oil supplies in recent history.

Since the conflict began on February 28, Iran has effectively shut down the strait to all vessels except its own. The country has stipulated that passage through the strait is only allowed under Iranian control and for a fee.

In response, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces would intercept Iranian vessels and any other ships that comply with Iran’s toll requirements. He further warned that Iranian “fast-attack” boats approaching the blockade would be destroyed.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed that the blockade officially commenced at 10 a.m. ET on Monday, which is 12 a.m. AEST on Tuesday.

NATO allies including the United Kingdom and France said they would not be drawn into the conflict by taking part in the blockade, stressing instead the need to reopen the waterway, through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil normally passes.

A ceasefire that halted six weeks of US and Israeli air strikes looked in jeopardy, with only a week left to run until 22 April.

The US said Iran rejected its demands at weekend talks in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, the highest-level discussions since Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The US military’s regional Central Command said ‌the blockade would be “enforced impartially ‌against vessels of all nations” entering or leaving Iranian ports in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

“The blockade will not impede neutral transit passage through the Strait of Hormuz to or from non-Iranian destinations,” Central Command said in a message to seafarers.

Two Iranian-linked tankers, the Aurora and New Future, laden with oil products, left the strait on Monday before the deadline, according to LSEG data.

An Iranian military spokesperson called any US restrictions on international shipping “piracy”, warning that if Iranian ports were threatened, no port in the Gulf or Gulf of Oman would be secure.

Any military vessels approaching the strait would violate the ceasefire, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said.

Hezbollah urges Lebanon against Israel talks

On Monday, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem urged Lebanon to cancel a planned meeting with Israel in Washington the following day, reiterating his group’s rejection of direct negotiations with its foe.

“We reject negotiations with the usurping Israeli entity … We call for a historic and heroic stance by cancelling this negotiating meeting,” Qassem, whose Iran-backed group has been at war with Israel since 2 March, said in a televised address.

The Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors to the US are scheduled to meet in Washington on Tuesday to discuss holding direct negotiations between the two countries.

Lebanese authorities have stressed that Beirut first wants to secure a ceasefire in the Israel-Hezbollah war, but Israel has dismissed that prospect, saying it prefers instead to focus on formal peace talks with Lebanon itself, with which it has technically been at war for decades.

Hezbollah’s request came as Israel claimed it had struck around 150 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon over the past 24 hours.

“In the past 24 hours, approximately 150 Hezbollah terrorist organisation targets were struck in numerous areas across southern Lebanon,” the Israeli military said, adding that the targets included “military structures, anti-tank missile launch points, and terror command centers”.

Tough outlook for energy markets

April could be a tougher month than March for energy markets and the economy due to the war in the Middle East, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Monday.

While March saw the delivery of cargo from the region “loaded well before the crisis started”, IEA executive director Fatih Birol said “during the month of April, nothing has been loaded”.

“The longer the disruption is, the more severe the problem becomes,” he told reporters after a meeting at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

His comments came as he met leaders of the IMF and World Bank on Monday as part of a group recently established to coordinate responses on the economic fallout from the war.

Birol said the agency was monitoring energy facilities in the region, noting that among over 80 impacted facilities, more than a third have been severely damaged.

He reiterated that the world is facing a major energy security challenge, adding that “no country is immune to this problem.”

Pakistan says US-Iran truce ‘holding’

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said a ceasefire between the United States and Iran was “holding” and that efforts were underway to reach an agreement after weekend talks failed to do so.

“The ceasefire is still holding and, as I speak, full efforts are underway to resolve the outstanding issues,” Sharif told a cabinet meeting in brief televised remarks.

US Military Executes Targeted Strike, Eliminating Two Alleged Cartel Operatives in Eastern Pacific, Reports SOUTHCOM

0

The United States military executed another deadly operation on Monday, focusing on individuals believed to be cartel operatives in the Eastern Pacific. This strike resulted in the deaths of two people suspected of being involved in drug trafficking, as reported by the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

A statement from SOUTHCOM on a social media platform declared, “We are applying comprehensive systemic pressure on the cartels.” The post detailed that “on April 13, under the orders of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by groups designated as terrorist organizations.”

The announcement further elaborated that intelligence had confirmed the vessel was navigating established drug-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was actively engaged in such operations. The encounter resulted in the deaths of two male individuals identified as narco-terrorists, with no injuries reported among U.S. military personnel.

This operation follows closely on the heels of similar actions conducted by SOUTHCOM just two days prior, which targeted two other vessels suspected of being operated by designated organizations.

Southern Command strikes suspected narcotics vessel

U.S. forces have intensified their efforts against narcotics trafficking networks by striking suspected cartel operatives in the Pacific, as highlighted in a recent SOUTHCOM social media post.

Officials said intelligence confirmed those vessels were traveling along known drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and were actively engaged in narcotics operations.

Two men were killed in the first strike and three in the second, while one individual survived the initial attack.

SOUTHCOM said it immediately called on the U.S. Coast Guard to conduct search and rescue operations for the lone survivor. No U.S. forces were injured in either operation.

The operations are part of a broader U.S. military effort to disrupt cartel-linked trafficking networks at sea, with officials increasingly describing such groups using terrorism-related designations.

The strikes were carried out under Joint Task Force Southern Spear, an ongoing mission focused on targeting transnational criminal organizations operating along key maritime drug routes in the region.

The Eastern Pacific remains a major corridor for narcotics trafficking, where cartels frequently rely on small, fast-moving vessels to transport drugs north toward the U.S. and Central America.

The use of the term “Designated Terrorist Organizations” reflects a more aggressive posture by the Trump administration, which has expanded the use of military force against suspected narcotics traffickers beyond traditional law enforcement approaches.

SOUTHCOM has not released additional details about the identities of those killed or the specific groups involved.

The command is responsible for military operations in Central and South America and the Caribbean, including counter-narcotics missions aimed at disrupting drug trafficking networks that threaten U.S. interests.

The U.S. has carried out dozens of strikes on suspected drug-smuggling vessels in recent months as part of a broader campaign to dismantle cartel-linked trafficking operations and increase pressure on transnational criminal organizations.

Life Sentence for Man Who Opened Fire at Mother’s Day Celebration: Justice Served

Luis Sepulveda (WPRI/YouTube).

A man, aged 55, has been condemned to life imprisonment for the fatal shooting of a family member during a Mother’s Day gathering in Rhode Island, officials report.

Judge Kristin E. Rodgers of the Superior Court handed down two consecutive life terms to Luis Sepulveda for the slaying of Angel Rodriguez, aged 44. In October, a jury convicted Sepulveda of first-degree murder and additional offenses related to the incident that took place on Mother’s Day 2023 in Providence.

Prosecutors revealed that Sepulveda traveled from North Carolina to Rhode Island for the family celebration. Earlier that day, a disagreement arose between Sepulveda and Rodriguez but was initially settled without incident. However, the situation escalated into a physical altercation in the garage around 11 p.m.

A sentencing document from local CBS affiliate WPRI disclosed that Sepulveda allegedly threatened, “I told you not to [expletive] with me. You don’t know who you’re [expletive] with. Now I am going to end your life.”

He discharged two warning shots before aiming at Rodriguez, striking him in the chest. Sepulveda fled the scene in a minivan but was apprehended soon after. The murder weapon was found in the vehicle by state police, and all five shell casings collected at the crime scene were linked to his firearm. Additionally, gunshot residue was detected on his hands.

Paramedics rushed Rodriguez to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Family members spoke during the sentencing hearing about the impact the murder has had on them.

“Who would have ever thought this man we’ve known for so long would betray our family like that and put us through this nightmare?” one woman said according to a courtroom report from local NBC affiliate WJAR. “This is something that has not only affected our lives, but ruined it.”

She called the victim a “strong soul.”

“Not only did Luis rob him of his life, but his opportunity to become a father — something he always wanted,” she said.

In addition to murder, the jury also convicted Sepulveda of discharging of a firearm resulting in death, carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, assault with a dangerous weapon, using firearm during a violent crime and possessing a large capacity feeding device.

“These types of cases occur all too often when a person who is prohibited from owning and carrying a gun obtains one,” said Rhode Island Attorney General Peter F. Neronha. “This defendant senselessly murdered Angel Rodriguez, forever changing the lives of Angel’s family, friends, and community. Prior to Angel’s murder, this defendant demonstrated a well-documented pattern of violent criminal behavior, and as we know, violence begets violence. While this sentence can’t bring Angel back, I hope it provides some measure of peace for those who cared for him.”

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2023: Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Sade, Oasis, Wu-Tang Clan, and Luther Vandross Inducted

NEW YORK – The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is set to welcome an eclectic mix of music legends this year. Among the inductees are Phil Collins, Iron Maiden, Billy Idol, Queen Latifah, Oasis, Sade, and Joy Division/New Order. Notably, the Wu-Tang Clan and the late Luther Vandross are being recognized for the first time.

The announcement was made during Monday night’s “American Idol” broadcast. To qualify for this prestigious honor, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior. The selection process involved over 1,200 votes from artists, historians, and music industry experts.

Phil Collins, who already holds a spot in the hall with Genesis, is celebrated for his solo achievements with hits like “In the Air Tonight” and “One More Night.” He boasts eight Grammy Awards, including the 1985 Album of the Year for “No Jacket Required.” This marks his inaugural nomination for the solo category.

Sade, another 2024 nominee, is recognized for her silky smooth hits such as “Smooth Operator” and “The Sweetest Taboo.” Meanwhile, the Wu-Tang Clan, revered for revolutionizing rap with their groundbreaking 1993 release “Enter the Wu-Tang,” also joins the list.

Iron Maiden, making their third appearance as nominees, played a crucial role in the rise of British heavy metal with legendary albums like “The Number of the Beast.” Luther Vandross, whose soulful voice graced hits like “Here and Now” and “Any Love,” continues to inspire artists, including Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Vandross passed away in 2005, leaving behind a significant musical legacy.

This year, the hall will open its arms to the sounds of Manchester, England, inducting post-punk pioneers Joy Division and New Order — which shared most of the same members — as well as Britpop’s recently reunited Oasis, made up of Noel and Liam Gallagher. Idol, also English, has brought a punky sneer to pop with songs like “White Wedding” and “Rebel Yell.”

The induction will be held Nov. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. A TV presentation will air in December on ABC and Disney+. Next year, the ceremony will return to the hall’s home of Cleveland.

Those nominated this year but who came up short for the class of 2026 include Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, INXS, Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Pink, New Edition and Shakira.

In addition to the performer category, inductees entering the hall can arrive under three special committee categories: early influence, musical excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.

The early influence award this year will honor Queen Latifah, Cuban singer Celia Cruz, Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, rapper MC Lyte and country rocker Gram Parsons. The musical excellence will honor songwriter Linda Creed and producers Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller and Rick Rubin.

More than 50 years after his death, Ed Sullivan, the legendary host of his self-titled appointment-viewing TV show, will go into the hall with the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award. It’s a recognition of how important his Sunday night stage became as a launchpad for nearly every musical icon of the 1950s and ’60s and of how his show helped break racial barriers in American entertainment.

Last year, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Salt-N-Pepa, The White Stripes, Carol Kaye, Nicky Hopkins, Lenny Waronker, Thom Bell and Warren Zevon all were inducted.
