Authorities have launched a search in the California desert for the missing sister of a Saturday Night Live writer, nearly a year after she disappeared.

Christina Fowlie Downer, 38, was reported missing in December 2025 after her family said they last heard from her the previous month, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The LAPD told NBC Los Angeles on Friday that officers had searched an Airbnb in Joshua Tree as part of the investigation into Downer’s disappearance. She is the sister of SNL writer Jimmy Fowlie.

Investigators carried out an extensive sweep of the property with the help of K-9 teams. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department also assisted with the operation, police said.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the search uncovered any evidence, and the investigation remains active.

Downer’s disappearance followed an unusual social media update in which she appeared in a fitted red top inside her Los Angeles apartment, looking toward the camera.

“Living at peace. If you wanna send me a Christmas treat, I’ll be waiting. Happy holidays, everyone,” she wrote in a post dated December 14, 2025.

She also listed her Cash App and Venmo usernames in her Instagram bio, allowing her roughly 700 followers to send her money.

Friends and relatives later told the Daily Mail that the lighthearted post felt out of character. They said they had already gone weeks without hearing from Downer before the message appeared on December 14.

In an emotional post shared in April, her brother Jimmy indicated that he feared she had died. “Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayer for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable,” he wrote.

Police, however, continue to classify Downer’s case as a missing-person investigation. The LAPD did not confirm to NBC Los Angeles whether officers were searching the Joshua Tree site for human remains.

The department said investigators were seeking evidence in the area. Its Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the case.

The Daily Mail reported in May that Downer had lived a private second life as an adult performer and exotic dancer. People familiar with her also said she had faced mental health struggles in recent years.

She was also involved in a turbulent relationship with an R&B singer known for facial tattoos. Downer filed a restraining order against his former girlfriend, accusing the woman of stalking and harassing her.

Ryan Downer, Christina’s former husband, told the Daily Mail that he requested a wellness check in December after being unable to reach her for several weeks.

The couple married in 2015 in their hometown of Woburn, Massachusetts. Before their marriage, Christina had worked at a local gentlemen’s club after leaving the adult entertainment industry, where she performed under the name “Chavon Taylor.”

The pair separated in November 2023, citing ‘irreconcilable differences,’ according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail. But it was amicable.

Ryan called authorities when she didn’t respond to him for weeks.

‘It just doesn’t make any sense why she would leave without telling anyone. That’s not like her. We just want to know what happened because none of it makes any sense.’

When cops did a welfare check at her apartment in Koreatown, the place was clean and tidy with nothing out of the ordinary, Ryan told the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail also learned in May that Christina had an on-and-off relationship with a local LA R&B singer named Delorean Bijon Brandon. 

Ryan told the Daily Mail that Christina and Brandon had a toxic relationship and she often left him voice messages complaining about their dynamic.

In September 2024, Christina filed a temporary restraining order against Brandon’s ex-girlfriend, claiming she had been harassing them for years.

Brandon told the Daily Mail that Christina had trouble getting modeling work and was struggling with money. The singer claimed he had nothing to do with her disappearance and that he also was concerned for her safety.

He said the stress of making it in Tinseltown took its toll on her and she allegedly mixed drugs to cope with the stress.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the LAPD and Fowlie for comment.  

The number of teenagers arrested with guns in New York City has surged 19% so far this year, even as police report progress in some areas of youth violence, according to new data.

NYPD figures show that 423 people under 18 have been arrested this year, compared with 355 during the same period in 2025.

At the same time, 76 juveniles have been shot this year—down 19% from the 93 recorded during the comparable period in 2025.

The 2026 total is also slightly below the 78 juveniles shot in 2024, the data show.

The number of young people accused of shooting someone has fallen 11% this year. So far, 83 juveniles have shot another person, compared with 93 during the same period last year.

However, the figure remains 6% higher than it was two years ago, when 78 juveniles were recorded as having pulled the trigger.

Police blame the continuing problem in part on New York’s 2017 “Raise the Age” law, which critics describe as soft on crime and which requires juvenile offenders to be housed separately from adults in correctional facilities.

Combined with laws that make certain offenses ineligible for cash bail, the policy means judges generally send juveniles to the city’s primary detention centers only when they are accused of the most serious crimes.

“They’ve been sending the message for years that you’re not going to go to jail if you get caught with a loaded gun,” said retired NYPD Assistant Commissioner of Youth Strategies Kevin O’Connor. “It’s not only the guns, it’s the felony assaults with weapons.”

The NYPD says it is using several tactics to curb youth crime, including creating safety zones in locations heavily frequented by students.

The department also deploys specialized Youth Coordination Officers, supervised by sergeants, to track crime trends near schools and throughout neighborhoods while connecting young people with support programs.

Among the department’s youth initiatives are Saturday Night Lights, a citywide sports program, and programs operated by the Police Athletic League.

Still, the NYPD can address only part of the juvenile-crime problem, said Kirk Burkhalter, a New York Law School professor who spent 20 years with the department before retiring as a first-grade detective.

“Sadly, this is nothing new,” he said.

Burkhalter recalled his time as a police officer in the 1980s, when “life was extremely cheap” and many people committing killings in major cities were very young. He identified the crack epidemic as a major factor at the time.

Today, experts say youth violence in New York often escalates from neighborhood turf disputes between crews, along with online threats and boasts shared by juveniles.

“It’s pretty amazing that there’s a segment of young people who are committing crimes that would be difficult to apprehend them for but for them putting the proceeds of those crimes—and holding an unlicensed firearm—on some type of social media, literally bragging about it,” Burkhalter said.

Ultimately, Burkhalter said, the NYPD’s primary tool is making arrests.

“The police are literally keeping the top on the bottle,” he said. “The only thing they can do is apprehend offenders once they’ve committed a crime. There has to be a different approach.”

The latest youth shooting occurred around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, when Jihadi Pack was shot in the stomach behind NYCHA’s King Towers building on West 115th Street near Malcolm X Boulevard, where he lived, police said.

He was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside, but he could not be saved, authorities said. 

A 57-year-old man – who law enforcement sources identified as a worker for the New York City Housing Authority – was struck in the right hand by an apparent stray bullet nearby, police and sources said. A 15-year-old was taken into custody but he wasn’t immediately charged, police said.

The motive wasn’t clear, cops said.

In another recent tragic case, 14-year-old Malakai Adams was fatally gunned down by a scooter-riding killer on Sept. 21 in Far Rockaway, Queens. 

The shooter allegedly stole Adams’ ride after blasting him in the back around 3:40 p.m. but it wasn’t clear if that was the main motive, cops said. Investigators haven’t ruled out gang involvement in the shooting, police sources said.

Harlem mom Jackie Rowe-Adams, who lost two sons in shootings, wants inner city communities to do more to help stop youth gun violence, she said. 

“Let’s tell the truth of what’s happening in the urban community,” said the 79-year-old who runs a group called Harlem Mothers and Fathers SAVE (Stop Another Violent End) and helps grieving parents who’ve lost their children to street violence.

“We as parents and community leaders must do more,” she said. “We must check their backpacks when they leave our houses. We have to check under mattresses. I’m not saying it will stop it, but it could really slow it down.”

Rowe-Adams’ son Anthony Bouldin was shot and killed in Harlem at the age of 17 in 1982. Sixteen years later, her 28-year-old son, Tyrone Bouldin, was murdered in Baltimore.

“You never, ever forget,” she said. “You learn to move on, but you never forget your loved ones. If I can save another mother or another family from feeling the hurt and pain, my life will not be in vain.”

Authorities said multiple people were killed in a shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Friday night. The suspected gunman was also found dead, reportedly from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers were called to a residence shortly before 5 p.m. local time after witnesses reported seeing someone fire a weapon and then run into the home, according to Fox8 Live.

Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah called the incident the most disturbing scene he had faced in nearly 30 years of law enforcement. He said investigators were still working to establish the sequence of events.

“I want to be candid with our community. This is one of the most difficult and heartbreaking scenes our officers and investigators have ever encountered. The loss of life is devastating, and the circumstances we are working through are deeply disturbing,” Lorah said, according to Fox8.

Witnesses told police that the shooter fled into a nearby residence.

WFXP reported that Erie’s SWAT team and a large contingent of officers surrounded the property, secured a warrant and then entered the home.

“It’s a horrific scene,” Lorah told the station. “There was a large loss of life inside that residence and outside that residence.”

Lorah confirmed to WFXP that two women were among those killed, but he did not disclose the total number of victims.

“I can tell you that this is a tragic, tragic situation,” Lorah said.

Lorah said the suspected shooter was located inside the property and had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The city of Erie said the shooting resulted in “multiple deaths” and confirmed that there was no continuing threat to the public.

“We understand that this news brings deep shock and sorrow to our residents, and we want to assure the public that the situation has been contained,” the city said.

“Our thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone impacted by tonight’s tragedy,” the statement continued. “We will continue working closely with our Erie Police Dept, and will provide updates as soon as verified information becomes available.”

Erie police told News Media that detectives were still processing the crime scene. Lorah was expected to brief the public again Saturday morning.

The department’s Criminal Investigations Division is leading the ongoing investigation.

Kim Kardashian arrived at the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday to support her F1 driver boyfriend Lewis Hamilton, giving pundit Martin Brundle the chance to joke about his previous unsuccessful attempt to interview the influencer.

The 45-year-old businesswoman and reality star made an entrance in the paddock wearing a £2,290 sheer pink maxi dress by French fashion house Alaia, which highlighted her signature hourglass figure.

She completed the look with a matching Hermes Mini Kelly bag decorated with silver charms, along with a pair of chunky dark sunglasses.

The mother of four arrived at the Marina Bay Street Circuit accompanied by two friends and a member of her security team.

As she made her way around the venue, Kardashian quickly became a focal point, with fans openly taking photographs of the star.

Broadcasters also spotted her in the crowd. When she appeared on screen, Sky Sports pundit Brundle quipped: ‘I did try once.’

His comment referred to an earlier attempt to speak with Kardashian at the Monaco Grand Prix in June, when she and her sister Khloe ignored him completely. Their interaction—or lack of one—led some fans to accuse the pair of being ‘rude’.

Hamilton and Kardashian began dating around February this year and have since made their relationship Instagram-official.

The driver competed in the Singapore Grand Prix sprint race on Saturday and was also aiming to secure a strong qualifying position for Sunday’s main event.

The city-street circuit introduced a new concept to Formula 1 when it joined the calendar in 2008, becoming the sport’s first night race.

Traditionally, drivers qualify on Saturday before competing in the main race on Sunday.

However, the sport’s updated schedule allows selected circuits to host sprint races on Saturdays. These events cover roughly one-third of a full Grand Prix distance, with points awarded from eight down to one for the top finishers.

Heavy rain delayed the planned sprint, while marshals were seen working frantically to clear the numerous puddles that had formed across the track.

The race eventually began at 10.30am, with Hamilton taking second place behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Hamilton is third in the drivers’ championship and competes for Ferrari. He trails first-placed Andrea Kimi Antonelli and his teammate George Russell, both of whom drive for Mercedes.

The rainy weather didn’t appear to bother Ms Kardashian, who took shelter in the Ferrari team’s garage. 

She and Hamilton have been enjoying loved-up dates together and documenting their romance on social media.

The British racer was first romantically linked to SKIMS founder Ms Kardashian earlier this year, yet the Monaco Grand Prix in June marked their first PDA-filled outing.

During the event, Ms Kardashian was accused of being ‘rude’ to legendary Sky Sports F1 broadcaster Martin Brundle during his famous pre-race grid walk, as she snubbed his interview. He could be heard asking her and her sister Khloe: ‘How are you today? Are you enjoying F1?’

Hamilton and Ms Kardashian also enjoyed a trip to Japan together earlier this year and they are said to have spent a weekend at Estelle Manor in the Cotswolds, England, as well as visiting Paris, France in early February.

They also appeared publicly together during the 2026 Super Bowl in February, when they were shown on the stadium’s big screen during the game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

Hamilton – who has previously been linked romantically with singer Nicole Scherzinger and actress Sofía Vergara – and Ms Kardashian had previously known each other for several years.

Ms Kardashian – who is mother to North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, seven, with her ex-husband Kanye – is said to be taking her new relationship seriously.

A source recently told PEOPLE: ‘[Hamilton is] just an easy-going guy with great energy. Her family likes him and Kim’s very into him.

‘They are both busy with their careers, but see each other as much as possible.’

They are said to have ‘more than just a casual connection’ with the insider adding: ‘It takes a lot to capture Kim’s interest and she’s definitely intrigued.’

Just earlier this week Ms Kardashian revealed that she spent five years being single in order to ‘completely heal’ before she contemplated a new romance.

She and Hamilton made their first public appearance together at the Super Bowl in February before going Instagram official in June.

Her appearance at Singapore is the latest show of support the pair have made for one another’s careers.

Prior to dating Hamilton, Ms Kardashian’s last public romance was with US comedian Pete Davidson, 32, whom she began dating in 2021, months after filing for divorce from her ex-husband Kanye West. 

And reflecting on the time she spent without a partner, Ms Kardashian told in a new interview that she ‘needed my time’ and wasn’t ‘ready’ to open up to anyone new at the time. 

She told The Times: ‘I was really single for five years. And that felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush. 

‘Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time. I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up.’

The thrice-married star added: ‘I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favour when you just allow it to.’

Ms Kardashian and ex Davidson’s relationship was confirmed to be over in August 2022, after just nine months of dating.

The comedy star recently reflected on his whirlwind romance with the reality star bombshell, which was the subject of much media scrutiny at the time.

He told Variety: ‘I’m one of the survivors – the few and the proud. We’re like the Marines,’ he teased in reference to her dating history, which includes ex-husbands Kanye and Kris Humphries.

Davidson said he struggled with the intense public scrutiny that came with dating one of the most famous women in the world, saying: ‘Look, man, that’s a really tough atmosphere if you’re not game. 

‘One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they’re like, ‘This is what we do’.’

Davidson went on to compliment his ex, saying: ‘I found that very attractive and mature. And I was never subjected to anything I didn’t want to be a part of.’

‘[Kim] was super respectful of all of it, but the craze of that lifestyle – being followed everywhere, having security and looking over your shoulder – for a guy with mental stuff, and at the time drug problems, was a little too much for me.’

New York’s fall deer rut is turning roads across the state into hazardous territory for drivers.

As mating season intensifies, deer become more active and frequently cross the Empire State’s highways and local roads. The seasonal surge contributes to an estimated 60,000 to 70,000 vehicle collisions annually, according to the New York State Department of Transportation, which has launched a new public awareness campaign.

“Deer don’t check traffic. They don’t use crosswalks and apparently their friends give awful advice,” the NYDOT said in its campaign messaging.

About 40% to 43% of deer-related crashes occur between October and December, when the animals’ breeding season reaches its peak.

A collision with a deer at speeds approaching 60 mph can have fatal consequences. These crashes claim about five lives during a typical season.

The adult male white-tailed deer, New York’s most common deer species, generally weighs 150 to 300 pounds. Larger bucks can exceed 350 pounds and, in some cases, approach 400 pounds.

New York is home to roughly 900,000 deer. The NYDOT recommends that motorists follow these precautions:

Two Philadelphia police officers were hospitalized after being shot early Saturday while responding to a call in the western section of the city.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said at a news conference that one officer, a 40-year-old parent of two, was shot three times.

The second officer, 33 and the parent of five children, was struck by 12 bullets, Bethel said.

“I am so damn proud of the men and women who serve in this department. Consistently, they go into danger, and they give their lives for this job,” Bethel told reporters. “And so we ask for those prayers, and we ask for you to support our men and women out there, and what they give for this profession.”

The officers were dispatched shortly after 12:20 a.m. to 140 North 52nd Street after police received a report of a man with a gun on a porch, according to Bethel.

They arrived roughly 30 minutes later and encountered “significant gunfire” after reaching the porch.

Additional officers and a SWAT team soon reached the scene and found the two responding officers wounded on the porch, Bethel said.

The suspect also opened fire on two other officers, Bethel said. SWAT officers later found the man in a tree and took him into custody.

The wounded officers were transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for surgery. Their conditions remained unclear.

“We are praying now that our officers make it through this terrible situation,” Bethel said.

According to local outlet WPVI, the suspect allegedly ambushed the officers by running through an alley and firing at them.

Bethel said the suspect, whose name has not been released, was carrying two handguns and a shotgun. One of the handguns belonged to one of the wounded officers.

The Philadelphia Police Department did not immediately respond to News Media’s request for comment.
