Who Is Kelsie Cote? Inside Kevin Reddington’s Upcoming Murder Case

0

With Lindsay Clancy’s murder case now ending in a mistrial, defense attorney Kevin Reddington is shifting his focus back to another high-profile Massachusetts case: that of Kelsie Cote, who is accused of killing her grandmother as part of an alleged scheme to collect a $1 million inheritance.

Reddington described Cote as a “very nice young lady,” telling reporters Sept. 4 outside the courtroom where Clancy’s trial had taken place. “I’m ready to go on that too, and they’ve been very patient. So between Lindsay and Kelsie, I’ll get it done,” he said.

According to the Boston Globe, Reddington has represented Cote since she was arrested in 2022.

Prosecutors say Cote attacked 74-year-old Doris Cote on Halloween night in 2022, allegedly stabbing her with an open pair of scissors before striking her with a paperweight.

Cote was later charged with murder, assault with intent to murder and destruction of evidence.

She pleaded not guilty at a May 2023 hearing, seemingly mouthing “I love you” to family members as she sat in a wheelchair, due to a foot injury resulting from a separate incident involving a four-wheeler, according to The Berkshire Eagle.

On Nov. 1, 2022, Kelsie’s father called 911 to report that his mother Doris was dead at the bottom of the basement stairs in her North Adams home, according to a police report obtained by iBerkshires.

“The investigation determined that Kelsie Cote was the last person to see her grandmother alive,” then-Berkshire County District Attorney Andrea Harrington said in a 2022 press conference. “She reported finding her grandmother deceased on the morning of Nov. 1. Kelsie Cote was one of two people with access to the home in addition to her grandmother.”

Prosecutors said parts of Kelsie’s story were unusual—and didn’t match their evidence.

Kelsie told police that she had left her grandmother’s residence at 7:30 p.m. on Halloween, but prosecutors determined that she stayed until after midnight.

She allegedly claimed to have discovered Doris at 10 a.m. on the following morning, but waited approximately six hours before calling for help.

Inside the house, investigators found evidence of a violent assault in an upstairs room and found evidence that suggested Doris’ body had been dragged to the stairs, according to Harrington.

Detectives wrote in the police report that they found “apparent bloody footprints and drag marks…leading from the main living level hallway through the kitchen and down the basement stairs.”

A pile of bloody clothes and potential weapons were also found in trash bags inside Kelsie’s car, Harrington said.

An autopsy showed Doris suffered seven wounds, primarily to her head, including a sharp-force injury to her thumb that Harrington said indicated a defensive wound.

Timothy Shugrue, Berkshire County’s current district attorney, said there was evidence that Kelsie planned her grandmother’s death.

“We have a lot of significant information from the Google searches that she was planning out how to kill her grandmother,” Shugrue told The Berkshire Eagle in May 2023, pointing to alleged searches for the “soft parts of the head” and about the role of a medical examiner.

Shugrue told the outlet that Kelsie was allegedly addicted to the painkiller oxycodone and had been stealing money from Doris. He said Kelsie had moved in with her grandmother after her grandfather died and arranged for Doris to make her the beneficiary of her financial assets—which were valued at over $1 million—instead of her father.

According to Shugrue, Kelsie’s father had installed Ring cameras inside her home which Kelsie turned on and off and mved after the killing.

“She was already taking money out [Doris Cote’s] safe, out of her accounts,” he told the outlet. “Her grandmother probably found out.”

Kelsie will next appear in court on Sept. 28.

Reddington did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Oxygen.

Cold Case Break: Runaway Teen’s Remains Identified, Homicide Probe Opens

0

Investigators say they have solved a key mystery in a nearly 49-year-old North Carolina cold case, confirming that human remains discovered decades ago belonged to Cindy Marcell Blizzard, a 15-year-old runaway who vanished from Maryland.

Blizzard disappeared in the spring of 1977, and her skeletal remains were found more than six months later, according to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Officials said her manner of death has not been determined, though the case is being handled as a homicide. The remains were recovered in a wooded area near a manufacturing facility in Wilson County, about five hours south of Blizzard’s home.

The SBI said the “circumstances surrounding the location and recovery of the remains raised the probability of foul play,” prompting investigators to treat the death as a homicide.

According to officials, skeletal remains and clothing were found Dec. 29, 1977, near a Firestone plant that produces vehicle tires.

A medical examiner determined the remains had likely been there for six months to two years and belonged to a white female between 16 and 23 years old.

In the decades that followed, the case went cold as forensic technology was not advanced enough to identify the remains, authorities said.

“For years, investigators compared dental records against missing persons cases without finding a match,” the SBI said.

The case was reopened in 2010 by a state anthropologist, who submitted the remains for DNA testing and cross-referenced the results with federal databases, officials said.

However, the investigation did not gain momentum until 2024, when the SBI’s Cold Case Investigative Team reviewed the case again using forensic tools that did not exist in 1977.

When the case qualified for advanced DNA testing, forensic scientists extracted preserved genetic material from a bone sample, according to the authorities.

“A genealogy service used the profile to trace potential relatives, pointing investigators toward a 15-year-old girl who had run away from Monkton, Maryland, in the spring of 1977,” the SBI said.

The identification was made with assistance from the FBI’s NCIC Investigation and Operational Assistance Group, the Maryland Department of State Police Homicide Unit and the Raleigh Police Department’s Intel Unit, authorities said.

Dog Dies After Being Left in Pet Daycare Van for Hours, Owner Alleges

0

An Illinois dog owner is grieving what he described as an unimaginable loss after his cherished pet was allegedly left inside a daycare van for the entire day.

Steve Serota told the Daily Mail that Miller, his six-year-old black Labrador, was taken to Waggles Pet Resort on the morning of September 2.

The father of three said Miller was picked up at about 9am, just as he normally was, but roughly seven hours later, his wife received a devastating call from the doggy day care.

At around 4pm, Serota said Ross Miehaus, the owner of the pet resort, told the family that Miller had been left in the van all day and had died.

‘I’m dumbstruck,’ the heartbroken father said. ‘How is this possible?’

Serota said temperatures reached 97 degrees outside, making it one of the hottest days his neighborhood had seen all year.

He rushed to the facility, where he said Miller’s body was still locked in a crate inside the van.

After seeing what he considered a member of his family lying dead, the father took a moment to sit with Miller in the back of the vehicle.

Serota said he was given no explanation as to how his dog was left to die in the scorching heat and was dumbfounded by how employees could have missed him.

‘I mean, as you can imagine, it’s just heart-wrenching. But the most unbelievable part is that he was in the first crate,’ Serota said.

‘You open the van door and you’re staring right at him. This is a 110-pound black Lab. You see him the moment you open the door.’

The Daily Mail reached out to Waggles for comment on Miller’s death. In a statement, the company said it was devastated by the tragedy.

‘We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Miller, a dog who died after being left in one of our chauffeur service vehicles,’ the statement read.

‘This should never have happened, and our hearts are with Miller’s family as they grieve the loss of their beloved companion.’

Ross Miehaus, the owner of the pet day care, was arrested Thursday after turning himself in to police on a charge of cruel treatment of animals, according to ABC 7.

The company said it was ‘taking what happened extremely seriously.’

‘At this time, we are temporarily pausing our chauffeur service while we evaluate steps to help prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening again,’ the statement read.

The pet resort has remained open for business, leaving Serota bewildered.

‘I’ve been in healthcare for a long time, and when something happens or something goes wrong, you do an immediate RCA, root cause analysis,’ the father said.

‘You look at where the failures occurred, and you make sure that you put absolute safeguards in place before you ever take responsibility for another life. And to my knowledge, none of that happened.’

Waggles said it is limited in what it can publicly discuss because of the pending legal matter.

‘We understand the sadness, anger and concern this tragedy has caused within our community. We share that heartbreak. Miller was loved, he mattered, and his loss has affected all of us deeply,’ the company said.

‘Because there is now a pending legal matter, we are limited in what we can say publicly about the specific circumstances surrounding Miller’s death. But that limitation does not diminish our sorrow, our sympathy for Miller’s family, or our commitment to learn from this tragedy going forward.’

Serota said Miller was like a brother to his three children and a big dog with an even bigger personality.

The father said the unexpected nature of his dog’s death has been the hardest part for his family to cope with.

‘When you have a dog, and we had a dog before Miller named Duffy, when a dog lives a full, happy life and they die, there is a life-cycle conversation you can have with your kids,’ Serota said.

‘But this wasn’t that, right? This was completely unexpected. This was completely unnecessary. It’s just tragic.’

Serota said he wants to speak publicly about what happened to Miller in hopes of preventing a similar tragedy from happening to someone else’s pet.

‘We can’t let this moment pass without enacting some real change to ensure that other dogs don’t suffer the same fate,’ he said.

Aldi Shoppers Praise $7.50 Ready-to-Eat Fridge Meal as a Tasty Bargain

Aldi shoppers are rushing to try a low-cost fridge find after enthusiastic reviews began circulating across social media.

The supermarket’s Beef Philly Cheesesteak Rolls with Fries and Dipping Sauce are priced at $14.99 for a two-person serve and form part of Aldi’s ready-to-cook meal kit line-up.

Adding to the appeal, the American diner-style dinner can be cooked in a frypan in about 20 minutes, with Australian shoppers who have already tried it saying the meal delivers on the buzz.

‘These were awesome, we bought the cool little diner baskets as well,’ one customer wrote, sharing a photo of the plated-up cheesesteak rolls and fries.

The 41-year-old runner, who enjoyed the cheesesteaks for Father’s Day, called the Aldi buy an ideal ‘every now and then’ treat.

Others were impressed by the generous portion sizes – and the fact the finished product actually bears a striking resemblance to the glossy photo on the box.

While most agreed it was far from an everyday option for the health-conscious, shoppers agreed it delivered exactly what was promised: a rich, cheesy and satisfying feed.

‘They’re good if you are really into that style food. Very rich, cheesy, tasty American style,’ one foodie wrote.

‘Very salty, loads of meat for each bun, good BBQ sauce and the meat is pre-seasoned with a good amount of pepper.’

‘Can confirm made it tonight. It was bloody good,’ another added.

‘Wow it actually looks like the advertisement photo,’ one more said.

Another fan revealed they’d skipped the frypan altogether.

‘Had these last night. They’re easy to make using airfryer… wife and I loved them,’ they said.

And it’s not the only Aldi bargain winning over Australian shoppers this month.

One of the supermarket’s $9.99 in-house wines was recently named among the best in Australia after picking up yet another major industry accolade.

The Freya and Jules Riesling was awarded Gold and an impressive score of 95/100 in the White Wine Riesling category.

It’s the latest in a growing haul of honours for the bargain bottle, which also claimed Elite Gold at the 2025 Canberra International Riesling Challenge and Gold medals at both the 2025 Royal Queensland Wine Show and 2025 Melbourne International Wine Competition.

Sourced from South Australia’s renowned Clare Valley, the exceptionally good-value drop opens with aromas of white florals and orange blossom, complemented by fresh lime and a hint of orange rind.

It’s described as a ‘well balanced wine that finishes crisp and refreshing’ – showcasing the quality and value that has made the bottle a standout in its category.

‘This award is a fantastic endorsement of the quality our wine team continues to deliver at Aldi prices,’ an Aldi spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

And bargain-hunting wine lovers now have another reason to keep a close eye on the supermarket aisles, with Aldi launching its new ‘Secret Cellar’ program.

Combining ‘premium quality, remarkable value and a little mystery’, the initiative will see one ultra-premium wine land in stores at a dramatically reduced price every couple of months.

Aldi's also launching a 'Secret Cellar' drop which will see one ultra-premium wine sold at a significantly reduced price in stores every couple of months

There’s just one catch: shoppers won’t know which bottle is coming until it hits stores.

Instead, customers will need to keep an eye on upcoming release dates in the Aldi catalogue before heading in to discover the mystery drop.

The first release has already landed.

Pirramimma Trademark Limited Edition Shiraz from McLaren Vale, normally valued at $70, is available for just $14.99.

That’s a whopping 79 per cent saving on the premium bottle.

The next Secret Cellar drops are scheduled for October and December, with each release strictly limited and available only while stocks last.

Philly cheesesteak, fries and a good bottle of wine for less than $30? Dinner sorted.

Jimmy Kimmel Live Ending After 24 Years Amid Host Suspension

0

Jimmy Kimmel’s long-running late-night tenure is facing fresh uncertainty, with a new report claiming his time on the air could conclude after nearly 24 years.

Jimmy Kimmel Live is set to come to an end in 2027, according to sources who spoke to Page Six on Tuesday.

The claim comes one year after the 58-year-old comedian made headlines over a high-profile suspension. According to an insider cited by the publication, Kimmel’s current deal is allegedly nearing its endpoint, with the source stating: “His contract is not getting extended.”

The Daily Mail said it has contacted representatives for Kimmel for comment but has not yet received a response.

Kimmel is expected to return to television on Tuesday, while the report claims his final episode could air in May of next year.

However, ABC Entertainment pushed back on the report. In a statement to the Daily Mail, a network spokesperson said: “This information is inaccurate – any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative.”

Page Six’s sources claimed that Kimmel’s years of criticism of President Donald Trump were unlikely to be the cause of his alleged cancellation.

One insider claimed that new Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro wouldn’t be influenced by pressure from Trump and his supporters.

‘He’s not afraid of the administration… Josh isn’t folding,’ they claimed.

One source at ABC claimed that a desire to cut costs may have influenced the network to not renew Kimmel’s contract.

‘[I]t wouldn’t have anything to do with Trump,’ they said.

D’Amaro was also said to have been offering early-retirement packages to executives amid restructuring and a push to decrease expenses.

Kimmel has also had a contentious relationship with his network, ABC. On September 17, 2025, the comedian’s show was suspended by ABC and the Walt Disney Company, which owns the network, after he was criticized by conservative figures over comments he made about the murder of right-wing activist and provocateur Charlie Kirk.

‘We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,’ Kimmel said.

Shortly before Kimmel’s suspension, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr joined the pile-on by threatening to take action against ABC and independent stations that aired Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Kimmel’s suspension was lifted on September 22 of last year, and his show returned to the air the following day on a triumphant note that attracted an impressive 6.26 million viewers, the most that Kimmel had attracted in more than a decade.

According to TMZ, one source claimed that there was chatter among Kimmel’s staff about him allegedly pitching other shows and podcasts around Hollywood.

Kimmel has notably favored year-to-year contracts with ABC, which are a relative rarity that have offered him considerably more flexibility than other late-night hosts.

His show’s reported end comes after Rosie O’Donnell filled in for him for four nights that were well received by critics and viewers alike.

One source described the comedian and talk show host as ‘in her element’ once she stepped on Kimmel’s set, and O’Donnell managed to get one of her bits to go viral when she poked fun at her longtime nemesis Donald Trump by changing the lyrics of the traditional song Danny Boy to ‘Donnie Boy.’

In April, Kimmel again elicited Trump’s ire when the comedian joked in a sketch that Trump’s wife Melania ‘had a glow like an expectant widow.’

Just days after making the joke, a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC, and Trump had to be rushed out of the event by Secret Service agents.

Two days after the assassination attempt, Melania Trump wrote in a post on X that ‘people like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate.’

‘His monologue about my family isn’t comedy – his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America… How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community,’ she wrote.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump claimed on the same day that Kimmel’s joke was a ‘call to violence.’

He called the joke ‘something far beyond the pale’ and wrote that ‘Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.’

Kimmel later clarified in his first monologue after the incident that the joke – which he made days before the assassination attempt – poked fun at the 24-year age gap between the Trumps.

He called it ‘a very light roast joke about the fact that he’s almost 80 and she’s younger than I am.’

‘It was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination, and they know that. I’ve been very vocal for many years speaking out against gun violence in particular,’ Kimmel continued.

‘I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject; I think a great place to start to dial that back is having a conversation with your husband about it,’ he added, directing the remark at the First Lady.

In August, Disney filed a lawsuit against the FCC over its ‘retaliatory campaign’ against ABC, which included a review of the network’s license and an investigation into The View.

TSA Program Lets Non-Ticketed Visitors Pass Through Airport Security

0

For years, saying goodbye at the airport has usually meant stopping at the security line, where loved ones and friends could go no farther. Now, at select U.S. airports, that long-standing boundary is beginning to shift.

The Transportation Security Administration is rolling out a new access program that lets certain eligible TSA PreCheck members who are not flying move through airport security and visit gate areas. The change brings back a piece of the pre-Sept. 11, 2001, attacks travel experience, when non-ticketed visitors were commonly allowed to accompany passengers all the way to their departure gates.

TSA describes the initiative as a special perk for its most trusted travelers, saying on its website that it is designed to make airport send-offs and reunions easier, allow people to meet friends during layovers, and give visitors a chance to use post-security restaurants and shops — restoring some of the personal moments that once made air travel feel less restricted.

Before 9/11, gate access for people without boarding passes was a routine part of the airport experience. The terrorist attacks led to major changes in U.S. aviation security, including tighter limits on who could enter secure airport zones beyond TSA checkpoints.

The new program, known as “Gateside by TSA PreCheck,” is free to use, but visitors must submit an online application one to three days before they plan to go to the airport and must be approved in advance. Those who receive approval can use a TSA PreCheck lane with an accepted ID. The pass is good for one calendar day and allows re-entry during that same day.

TSA says members of other trusted-traveler programs who have a Known Traveler Number also can apply for access to the gates.

The program is initially available at 13 airports, including Los Angeles International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City International Airport, according to TSA. But the agency says it plans to expand the program to more airports in the coming months.

Several airports throughout the country already have their own version of the program. Pittsburgh International Airport launched the myPITpass in 2017, although the program was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic and remained on hold during construction at the airport.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport began a similar program a year later, allowing gate access for up to 300 people without tickets a day. Other airports that have their own versions of the program include Philadelphia International Airport and Kansas City International Airport.

Netanyahu Plans Brief UN Visit After Mamdani Urges Arrest

0

CAMEROON – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will make a rapid 24-hour visit to New York this month to address the annual United Nations gathering of world leaders, a trip Israel’s U.N. ambassador said Tuesday is necessary after the city’s mayor called for Netanyahu’s arrest over the war in Gaza.

Ambassador Danny Danon accused Mayor Zohran Mamdani of “doing politics” after Mamdani described the Israeli leader as a “war criminal” and urged that he be arrested. The mayor later had to pull back the call, as New York City does not have the legal authority to take Netanyahu into custody.

“You know, it became very trendy to do politics by blaming Israel,” Danon said, underscoring that Netanyahu’s appearance at the U.N. General Assembly remains a priority for Israel. “For us, it’s important the prime minister will come,” he added.

Netanyahu has become a deeply divisive figure internationally as Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza continues. Mamdani’s office did not immediately respond Tuesday to requests for comment. The mayor has cited the arrest warrant issued in November 2024 by the world’s leading war crimes court against Netanyahu, which accused him and another Israeli official of crimes against humanity.

The International Criminal Court warrant said there were grounds to believe Netanyahu used “starvation as a weapon of warfare” by limiting humanitarian aid and deliberately targeting civilians during Israel’s military campaign against Hamas. Israel has denied the allegations.

While New York City does not have legal authority to execute an ICC arrest warrant, Mamdani has encouraged the federal government to do so. The U.S. and Israel are not members of the court, and the Trump administration has imposed a series of sanctions on ICC staffers in a campaign to dismantle the tribunal.

Netanyahu is scheduled to arrive in New York late on Sept. 23, address the U.N. General Assembly the afternoon of Sept. 24 and fly back to Israel that night, Danon said.

Danon noted that the meeting of leaders from the 193 U.N. member nations is taking place during the Jewish holidays and an election campaign as Netanyahu tries to keep his job as prime minister.

Danon said protests against Netanyahu would “create more chaos” on New York streets during the high-level meetings the week of Sept. 22-28.

Last year, there was a mass walkout from the U.N. General Assembly hall when Netanyahu started to speak from the podium. This year, Danon said, “I expect that there will be something like another show.”

But the ambassador said Netanyahu is experienced, “and I’m sure he will deliver his speech despite those attempts.”

Healthy D’Angelo Ponds, Kenyon Sadiq Ready to Boost Oregon

0

The Jets invested heavily in D’Angelo Ponds and Kenyon Sadiq, using two of their first four draft selections on players they believed could contribute right away.

Those early expectations have been tempered after both rookies were sidelined for nearly all of training camp. Still, with the regular-season opener against the Titans approaching, there are encouraging signs for each.

Sadiq got back on the practice field last week, while Ponds took part in Tuesday’s session for the first time in more than a month, giving the Jets a welcome boost as Week 1 draws closer.

Of the two, Sadiq appears more likely to be available Sunday against Tennessee. The athletic tight end from Oregon is ahead of Ponds, the former Indiana cornerback, in his return.

“I feel really good,” Sadiq told The Post. “I think I’ll be involved for sure [Sunday].”

The 16th overall pick in April’s draft, Sadiq took part in the first three practices of training camp.

He then missed nearly a month due to a setback from a spring hernia operation.

Last year at Oregon, he caught 51 passes for 560 yards and eight touchdowns.

Jets corner back D’Angelo Ponds practiced Tuesday for the first time in over a month. Bill Kostroun for New York Post

During the first practice of training camp July 29, Ponds suffered a calf strain.

He felt it grab while running sprints. It wasn’t thought to be serious at the time — coach Aaron Glenn said he would be “just fine” that day — but Ponds missed the rest of camp.

“It’s been tough, I can’t lie to you on that,” said Ponds, a second-round pick (50th overall). “The longest I’ve ever been out. … I didn’t think it was going to be this long. But I’m ready now, ready to get back to it.”

It hasn’t diminished his self-belief, though. He’s just eager to get up to speed.

“I’m a confident guy,” he said. “Playing that position, you have to be confident.”

One positive is that the two had each other to lean on, as highly drafted players missing most of training camp. They went through rehab together, and now they are back on the practice field.

“Obviously we’re behind, but there’s no pressure,” Sadiq said. “We’re trying to go out there and do what we’ve done our whole lives, which has gotten us to this point.”

Victims Identified After Fatal Amazon Cargo Jet Crash at Miami Airport

Miami officials have named the five people who died after an Amazon cargo aircraft overshot a runway during its landing at Miami International Airport on Sunday, struck vehicles and burst into flames.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz announced the victims’ identities during a Tuesday news conference, providing new details in the deadly airport crash.

The victims were identified as Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Naranjo, 53; Julio C. Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47.

The jet overshot the runway by at least 1,300 feet beyond the paved surface and crashed into multiple vehicles, including a 2012 white Ford Econoline van with passengers inside, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy said during a Monday press conference.
