Prince Harry Still Expects Royal Family Apology, Sources Say

0

The Duke of Sussex has come back to Britain with tempers reportedly still running high, with friends claiming he is “just as angry” as when he departed six years ago.

Harry, 41, who arrived in Birmingham last week with Meghan, 45, and their two children as they begin a new chapter in England, is said to remain furious with certain members of the Royal Family and to believe he is owed an apology.

The Sussexes stepped back from their roles as working royals in 2020 before relocating to the United States, a dramatic break that quickly became known as “Megxit.”

Since then, relations between the couple and senior royals have deteriorated further, fuelled by Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare, and a string of high-profile television interviews, including the Sussexes’ sit-down with Oprah Winfrey.

Earlier this month, the couple made the unexpected announcement that they would return to a private, non-royal residence, understood to be in the Cotswolds. Their children, Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, are believed to have been enrolled at a nearby prep school starting this week. However, a source told The Mail on Sunday: “Friends who caught up with Harry were expecting to hear noises of contrition and humility.”

‘Instead, there will be no imminent mea culpa from Harry by the sounds of things. Far from it, in fact. He is still in that Oprah mindset.

‘They were agog to hear he still feels angry with members of the Royal Family, is still frustrated by the ‘men in grey suits’ who surround his father, and still expects an apology.’

Harry has repeatedly accused aides of trying to sabotage his reconciliation with King Charles, echoing the same language used by his mother, Princess Diana, about royal courtiers who, she believed, were trying to undermine her.

A source said friends who met up with Harry 'were agog to hear he still feels angry with members of the Royal Family'

A source said friends who met up with Harry ‘were agog to hear he still feels angry with members of the Royal Family’

The source said: ‘Friends who have spoken to him since he returned to the UK were surprised to discover that the record has not changed one bit since 2020 and Megxit. It’s shocking and quite sad.’ It echoes what Harry said in an interview in 2023 when he said: ‘What I’d really like is some accountability. And an apology to my wife.’

The source added: ‘He certainly won’t be issuing a public apology for his actions and he’s whipped himself up all over again and Diana’s legacy is a factor in this.’

Next August will mark 30 years since Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris. Last month, during a visit to the UK, the Sussexes visited Diana’s grave at her childhood home, Althorp. Meghan later shared photos on social media of her two children carrying bunches of flowers through the estate’s grounds.

Last week, for their return to the UK, the Sussexes flew in on a private jet, believed to have been chartered from Planet Nine Private Air, a California-based operator, which costs about $12,000 (£9,000) per hour of flight time.

Yesterday, it was reported in the New York Post’s Page Six that the couple have enlisted the help of hedge-fund billionaire Ian Wace for their move back to Britain. The celebrity column claimed that Mr Wace – the founding partner of Marshall Wace LLP, one of the largest hedge funds in the world – was helping to finance the move as a long-term friend of the Sussexes.

The couple stayed on Mr Wace’s private Scottish island, Tanera Mor, during their recent holiday.

It is understood the Sussexes are waiting on a new assessment of their security needs after losing their automatic right to armed police protection when they stepped down as working royals.

In the meantime, Harry’s security adviser, David Langdown, is believed to have established a team of British security staff. The couple, who were approached for comment, will retain their homes in Montecito and Portugal.

Will Meghan be at Harry’s side for Diana Award?

The Duchess of Sussex could join Prince Harry at a high-profile fundraiser for The Diana Award now she has returned to Britain, The Mail on Sunday understands.

Attending the event would mark a symbolic moment for Meghan by linking her to the legacy of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana.

Harry is expected to attend the glitzy dinner and awards ceremony on September 18, say sources – and Meghan is considering joining him.

The Diana Award – which celebrates young people who make a difference to the lives of others – remains one of the last formal charitable links between Harry and his brother William.

The Prince of Wales made an appearance on behalf of the charity, which was set up in his mother’s honour, earlier this summer.

‘Harry is expected to take the lead at this event,’ said the source. ‘The brothers tend to take it in turns.

‘You won’t see the two men attending an event together any time soon – especially if Meghan is there.’

It is understood the ceremony will be staged at Raffles London at The OWO, a hotel located in the Old War Office in Whitehall.

‘The Diana Award started looking for wealthy individuals to buy tables this summer,’ the source said. ‘You got the impression that Meghan’s attendance was not nailed-on yet, but it will be just the right sort of high-profile and glitzy occasion for her London debut.’

Another source suggested, however, that any appearance by the duchess is likely to cause tension.

‘It will make a lot of people at Kensington Palace uneasy if she is in attendance,’ they said.

‘Instead of returning to Britain solely as Harry’s wife and the mother of his children, she would be appearing alongside him at an event tied directly to the memory of Diana.

‘Save-the-date cards were sent two weeks ago.’

A spokesman for the charity said: ‘The Diana Award is at the early stages of considering how it may mark the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death next year.

‘No plans have been agreed, no event has been confirmed, and no decisions have been made regarding attendance or participation.’

A spokesman for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made no comment.

Russia Poised to Strike British Drone Factory, Missile Firm

0

Russia is preparing the ground for a possible attack on Britain, with a drone factory and a missile company reportedly identified as “legal targets,” it was claimed last night.

A senior adviser to Vladimir Putin said figures at the “highest levels of the Russian government” were weighing a potential “hybrid attack” on the UK, including acts such as sabotage or arson, instead of an overt military strike that would risk triggering a Nato response.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday, Andrei Fedorov, Russia’s former deputy foreign minister, branded the UK “evil number one.”

One of the sites said to be in the Kremlin’s sights is a drone factory run by Ukrspecsystems, a British-Ukrainian company.

Information about the firm’s premises beside RAF Mildenhall in West Suffolk was published in April, along with details of five other European companies producing weapons and drones for Ukraine as it continues its war against Russia.

On Saturday night, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said: ‘The reckless rhetoric and attempts at intimidation we have seen from the Kremlin in recent weeks reflects the weakness of Putin’s position and we will not be intimidated.

‘This has been a bad year for Putin. The front line has barely moved. Russian casualties continue to mount. The Russian people are paying a heavy price for Putin’s war.

‘It is also in our national interest that Putin’s aggression must not be rewarded. The Prime Minister, the Foreign Secretary and I are working together to mobilise support for Ukraine ahead of winter.’

The threat comes as:

  • Bosses of British defence companies have been warned they could be targets of Russian hybrid attacks;
  • A pro-Kremlin war channel suggested that a Nato base in Estonia with at least 900 British troops should be attacked;
  • One of the assassins of Russian defector Alexander Litvinenko plans to hold an anti-UK exhibition opposite the British embassy in Moscow;
  • Britain’s ambassador to Russia told officials not to confirm if British weapons are going to Ukraine to prevent an escalation by Putin.

On Saturday, Elisabeth Braw, an expert on the Atlantic Council thinktank, said that the point of hybrid attacks is that they put a country like the UK in a dilemma about how to respond.

She said: ‘I call hybrid threats the defender’s dilemma because it really is the defender’s dilemma.

‘How exactly are you supposed to hit back because if you were to use military means, then you would really cause World War Three.’

Fedorov, 71, said that the Kremlin would not launch an outright military strike against Britain, a Nato member, because it could lead to the Western alliance launching a collective military response against Russia.

But he added: ‘The UK is evil number one. After the information that UK-made drones were used against Russian oil refineries, this has become a big anger [sic] in Russian society.

‘Various experts are calling to punish by strike [sic] the UK, and it will be supported by the majority of Russian citizens.’

He said that Putin and his cronies were angry Andy Burnham had handed Ukraine blueprints for long-range Storm Shadow missiles, which have been used previously to strike inside Russia.

Andrei Fedorov, a former deputy foreign minister of Russia, said the Kremlin would not launch an outright military strike against Britain, a Nato member, because it could lead to the Western alliance launching a collective military response against Russia

The missiles – which have a range of 350 miles – are manufactured by the British arms company MBDA, which employs 4,000 people and has its headquarters in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Fedorov said of MBDA: ‘Many experts in Moscow are saying yes, it’s a legal target. Absolutely.’

Throughout last week, Russian officials, including the Kremlin spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, threatened Britain with attacks, in response to Mr Burnham’s visit to Ukraine.

The warnings came despite an unannounced visit to Moscow by the head of the CIA, John Ratcliffe, last Tuesday, where he reportedly warned Russia not to attack a Nato country.

Ms Zakharova said: ‘Andy Burnham’s government understands where this will lead. They should understand this is playing with fire and that the consequences could be unpredictable.’

The MoS has also been shown an official memo by Nigel Casey, Britain’s ambassador to Moscow, which he sent to Foreign Office staff after Mr Burnham’s visit.

In the memo, he says Russia is losing its ‘narrative’ on the Ukraine war, which is leading it to ‘step up’ hybrid warfare across Europe.

He adds: ‘In this period of escalation in the war, UK officials, whether speaking on or off the record, [should] stick firmly to our policy of neither confirming nor denying whether UK-supplied weapons are used by Kyiv inside Russia.

‘Any comments which appear to confirm Russian accusations risk unnecessarily elevating already substantial risks to UK national security.’

At a briefing in London last week, Western officials warned that Russia is poised to launch more hybrid attacks across Europe as Ukraine gains the upper hand in the war.

One said: ‘The Russian appetite to conduct hybrid operations is very clear. Our assessment is that Putin wants to avoid a direct confrontation with Nato.

‘We need to remain vigilant around hybrid threats. Relations are at a very low ebb between us and them.’

Former Tory security minister Tom Tugendhat said: ‘These are the desperate words of a regime that is losing the war it started. We will not be bullied. The UK will continue standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.’

Nick Timothy, the Tory MP for West Suffolk, whose constituency hosts Ukrspecsystems, said: ‘People in Suffolk, like the British people as a whole, will never be intimidated by Russian threats.

‘Our support for Ukraine – which is the victim of unprovoked Russian aggression – will remain as strong as it has always been.’

Last night, it also emerged that a pro-Kremlin Telegram channel, ATO Donetsk – a favourite of Russian troops – called for attacks on the Tapa Nato base in Estonia, where 900 British soldiers are stationed.

In a broadcast, the channel said: ‘We won’t fly over Britain, but the Tapa military base houses about 900 British troops, equipment and ammunition depots.

‘It’s only 150km [93 miles] from Russia. The Baltics are a very convenient target for a show trial.’

Since the outbreak of the Ukraine war, Russia has launched several hybrid attacks against the UK.

In March 2024, a warehouse in Leyton, East London, storing aid for Ukraine, was burned down. The culprits were hired by Russian mercenary group Wagner.

And in June, two men were jailed for a number of arson attacks of homes and a car linked to former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Ukrspecsystems declined to comment and MBDA could not be reached.

Litvinenko assassin’s anti-Britain campaign ‘Poison killer’ heads UK hate campaign

A Kremlin assassin who poisoned defector Alexander Litvinenko with a radioactive chemical in London is now spearheading an anti-British campaign in Russia.

Andrey Lugovoy was one of two spies sent to Britain in 2006 to kill Mr Litvinenko – a former Russian Federal Security Service officer who became a fierce Putin critic.

Lugovoy, 56, who denies the poisoning and is now an ultra-loyalist Putin MP, is leading the campaign against Britain. He last week told Russian TV his aim is to portray the country as a ‘truly terrifying… enemy’.

Lugovoy will hold an anti-British exhibition later this year in a building opposite the UK’s embassy in Moscow highlighting ‘colonial crimes’.

It will be titled ‘Britlag’ to pun with the Russian word gulag.

High Rain Chances Continue Through Sunday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida will stay locked in a wet and unsettled weather pattern, keeping rain chances elevated and helping the sea breeze spark numerous soaking thunderstorms Sunday afternoon.

Tonight

Scattered thunderstorms will drift slowly westward through the evening, with rain lingering in some neighborhoods until around 9 to 10 p.m. Conditions should turn drier by roughly 11 p.m. to midnight. Most areas will remain quiet overnight, although a few spotty coastal showers may develop on the persistent east-southeast onshore breeze. Overnight lows will settle in the mid-70s.

Sunday

A stalled front north of the region, combined with a mid-level low spinning over the Gulf, will keep Central Florida’s atmosphere loaded with moisture and instability. That setup will again enhance the afternoon sea breeze, leading to a busy storm pattern Sunday. The day will begin mainly dry with a mix of sunshine and clouds, though a few isolated showers may brush the east coast. By lunchtime, showers and storms are expected to develop near the I-95 corridor before growing stronger and more widespread across Central Florida during the mid-afternoon. The strongest storms could produce wind gusts up to 50 mph, frequent lightning and localized flooding. Storms should gradually weaken after 8 p.m., with drier weather returning by 10 to 11 p.m. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s before storms move in.

Next Week

With a similar pattern continuing over Florida as we move into next week, high moisture and instability continues to charge our sea breeze each afternoon for much of the week to come. Rain chances remain high through mid-week with rain chances gradually reverting back to a more “typical” pattern by the end of the upcoming week and into the following weekend. Highs will climb into the low 90s each afternoon.

Kacey Musgraves’ Stage Catches Fire During Boston Concert

0

Kacey Musgraves kept her cool — and her sense of humor — after a small fire appeared to break out above the stage during her Boston concert on Friday.

Footage shared on TikTok shows the Grammy-winning singer wrapping up “Golden Hour” at TD Garden as sparks rained down in the finale, before the pyrotechnics seemed to spark a small blaze in the rafters.

Musgraves paused the show and looked up at the commotion, telling the crowd, “That looks bad. Genuinely, something’s on fire.”

She then cracked, “I have way too much hairspray to be standing under that s–t.”

The singer also joked that while the fire was “cute,” it was definitely giving her “anxiety.”

“I only like pyro when I know what’s going to happen,” she cracked as she sat on the edge of a platform. “Does anybody have like a bedazzled fire extinguisher anywhere?”

Fans on the social media platform couldn’t resist commenting on the incident, with one person writing, “you can say it is a slow burn.”

Another wrote, “The fact she just continued to stand directly under it 😂😂” while a third remarked, “You set my world on fireeeeee.”

Yet another noted that the small flame “died out [on] its own after three minutes or so.”

A rep for Musgraves did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday.

Musgraves is currently in the midst of her “Middle of Nowhere” tour.

The “Follow Your Arrow” hitmaker, 38, kicked off the tour at the United Center in Chicago last Friday, shocking fans by sitting atop giant floating disco balls in the shape of testicles.

The tour is currently in full swing after the singer mysteriously nixed three tour dates — including opening night — just weeks before she was set to begin.

Musgraves’ brush with fire isn’t the first time she’s experienced a dicey incident during a performance. Back in 2024, the songstress unleashed on an overzealous fan who yanked at her during a show in Florida as she walked through the audience.

“Last night, this Tampa bitch…” Musgraves began in social media footage, addressing the incident that happened the previous night.

“Y’all, I know, I know,” she continued as the audience booed. “She kinda ruined it. She kinda ruined it for everybody. I thought I was gonna have to get real east Texas on her.”

As she pretended to pull off her earrings, she said “Florida goes hard. It felt a little bit like when you type your name and your birth date into the ‘Florida man’ thing and then the Tampa girl popped up.”

Musgraves currently has 31 shows remaining on the tour, which is set to wrap up in the UK in February.

Man Accused of Fatally Stomping Woman and Beating Her With a Rock

Inset: Steven Black (Tarrant County Jail). Background: The Fort Worth, Texas, pedestrian area where Black fatally attacked a woman with a rock (Google Maps).

A Texas man has been sentenced to spend decades — and potentially the rest of his life — in prison for the savage killing of a woman in Fort Worth last summer.

Steven Black, 48, was found guilty Friday by a Tarrant County jury on a murder charge in connection with the July 2025 death of 50-year-old Susan Watkins.

Following the verdict, Black was swiftly handed a life sentence, with parole eligibility after 30 years, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, which announced the outcome in a press release.

Prosecutors described the attack in harrowing terms, saying Black “stomped on her head with his feet, threw large rocks at her head, and left her body behind a dumpster.”

The underlying incident occurred on July 9, 2025, near the 900 block of South Jennings Avenue —  in the heart of the Near Southside neighborhood and due south of downtown Fort Worth.

The victim’s loved ones believe the two had never met before that day, according to a report by Fort Worth-based NBC affiliate KXAS.

The attack occurred on a Wednesday. Watkins, who was living on the street then after having fallen on hard times, succumbed to her injuries in a nearby hospital the next weekend.

“Despite her situation, she was still the light of my life; she was still someone who made me laugh,” the victim’s daughter told the TV station. “She was still someone I loved dearly. She just cared about others more than that I’ve ever seen anybody ever care about someone else, ever.”

During the attack, Black threw Watkins onto the pavement and repeatedly stomped on her head and body with his foot, police said, according to a report by Dallas-based Fox affiliate KDFW.

Witnesses at the scene identified the assailant and described the brutal violence, according to law enforcement. The rock used to further attack Watkins was found near the crime scene.

Black, for his part, was still in the same general area as the victim when he was arrested — an area with relatively large amounts of foot traffic. The defendant was covered in blood and trying to run away.

No motive was offered for the crime.

At trial, prosecutors described the ferocity of the violence and said the killer acted without remorse or restraint.

One prosecutor described how the piece of asphalt was raised over and over, then brought down over and over into the victim’s face as her legs twitched, according to a courtroom report by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. At one point, Black grabbed the dumpster for balance in order to stomp on Watkins’ head, the state told the jury.

When police found the victim, a visible piece of rock was still on her head, the Star-Telegram reported at the time.

Ultimately, Black killed Watkins “by bashing her brains in with his foot and with this hunk of asphalt,” prosecutor Grayson Ezzell said in the state’s closing argument, lifting the asphalt to show the court.

The defendant did not testify in his own defense.

Scott Wolf’s Ex Kelley Apologizes for ‘Nightmare’ Drama Amid Public Split

0

Scott Wolf’s estranged wife, Kelley, has issued a public apology to the actor, saying she is sorry for dragging him and their family through what she described as a “nightmare” as their divorce and related legal troubles continue.

In a lengthy message shared to Instagram on Friday, the life coach revealed she was diagnosed with ‘breakthrough drug-induced mania with psychosis’ following a severe mental health crisis.

Kelley, 49, acknowledged that previous statements she made were not “based in truth or reality,” marking a striking shift in tone amid the former couple’s ongoing split.

“Wow… I have taken about 100 deep breaths to write this. How do I even start? It’s been a year since I recognized what everyone around me could see: I was not well, and I needed help,” she wrote, months after she and Scott were seen together during a family outing at Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

She continued, “I felt like my brain had been hijacked, and the world was moving at the speed of a freight train.”

Scott Wolf, 58, filed for divorce from Kelley in June 2025, bringing an end to their 21-year marriage.

Shortly after, Kelley suffered a severe psychological breakdown, leading to an involuntary psychiatric hold and erratic social media behavior.

The Party of Five alum was granted temporary custody of their three children and a temporary protective order, which was later dissolved after a brief agreement.

Then, in August 2025, Kelley was arrested and faced misdemeanor charges for online harassment and doxxing after sharing Wolf’s personal cell phone number on her Instagram account.

Subsequent protective orders were re-imposed following the latest escalation of events, before Wolf dropped the order in late 2025 after reaching new custody and visitation terms.

Kelley voluntarily entered a mental health treatment facility in September, saying at a court hearing, ‘My brother is taking me. It’s fantastic. It’s a great place. I recommended it all the time as a mental health professional myself, so September 12, I will be there for a month. I hope that helps.’

‘I had no awareness of my actions,’ Kelley shared in her recent Instagram post, adding that she was ‘completely delusional.’

‘After a year of working with incredible doctors, therapists, psychologists, and healers, I have an answer,’ she went on.

‘What I experienced was diagnosed as breakthrough drug-induced mania with psychosis… caused by stress, past trauma, hormonal shifts, and hallucinogens mixed with prescribed medications.

‘A perfect storm,’ Kelley added.

‘I won’t recount all of the chaos, but what has burdened my soul is my need to say… I am so sorry.’

Kelley then directly addressed Wolf with a heartfelt apology.

‘My husband of 20 years was taken through a nightmare that wouldn’t even fly in a movie script; it was so brutal,’ she shared. ‘The things I did, said, wrote and posted caused profound harm and were not based in truth or reality, and they caused pain I could never imagine to the people I love the most.

‘My brain turned on me. In my illness, I made accusations and did things that make me shudder. I have spent my life believing in love, hope, kindness and compassion. What I became was the opposite: Cruel. Vicious. Mean… In mania and psychosis, people can attack the ones they love the most and believe grand and delusional ideas.’

Kelley stated she ‘will never be the same’ after the things she said and did ’caused enormous pain.’

‘Scott and my kids… There won’t be a day that I don’t thank God for you. Causing you pain and being the reason you suffered will haunt me for the rest of my life.

‘It was my job to protect you, honor you, and keep you safe, and I became the cause of your heartbreak. I am sorry. You never gave up on me, and you fought like hell until you landed me in safe harbor. I owe you my life.’

Wolf responded to Kelley's public apology by leaving five red heart emojis in the comments. Above, the actor is seen at an event in New York City in 2019

She added: ‘I will work hard to use this life to leave it better, to pay it forward, and to never give up on the power of love. To all of you who offered support, love, encouragement and hope… You gave us strength and showed us that we are all more loving than cruel. Thank you.’

Kelley also apologized to friends and family in Park City, Utah.

‘This has been our home for 20 years, and hurting you was like burning down my own house,’ she said. ‘Thank you for loving our family and continuing to prove why this is a place where we found the meaning of home. I am sorry. Your grace has humbled me.’

Wolf responded to Kelley’s public apology by leaving five red heart emojis in the comments.

In February, Wolf and Kelley reunited for a family day at Universal Studios Hollywood.

‘Healing,’ he wrote on Instagram at the time alongside a family photo. ‘Thank you @unistudios for an epic day at the park! So much fun!’

Back in October of last year, Wolf also shared a birthday tribute for his estranged wife, writing: ‘Happy birthday to you.’

TikTok Loopholes Expose Children to Cartoons Depicting Rape and Torture

0

A TikTok safety feature trusted by millions of parents is not preventing children from encountering graphic videos that portray rape and torture, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The platform’s “restricted mode” is designed to screen out harmful content, yet apparent loopholes are enabling companies to profit by pushing disturbing AI-generated videos at underage users.

The clips appear to take advantage of weaknesses in TikTok’s content policies, which prohibit “realistic violence” and “sexually suggestive content” but can leave room for animated material to circulate.

Among the firms drawing scrutiny is the start-up Director AI, whose video-making tools have reportedly helped users generate more than 15,000 unsettling clips, many shaped by algorithms to maximise engagement.

One video posted across its network of around 50 accounts has been viewed more than 120 million times. It shows a cartoon doctor using a drill to gouge a patient’s face during a grotesque operation intended to make him resemble Kim Kardashian.

Another shows a tattooed burglar exacting revenge on a wealthy woman who once mocked his poverty, ransacking her mansion.

Footage cuts to his muscular hand clamping around her wrist while she lets out a bloodcurdling scream.

He is then seen laughing manically as he walks away with the zip of his shorts undone, carrying a holdall of stolen cash and gold bullion, leaving her battered, bruised and weeping.

Last night, after seeing the footage, Shadow Education Secretary Laura Trott said: ‘We would never tolerate children being exposed to this content offline, so the same must apply online.

‘Social media companies should not have access to our children until they can prove their platforms are safe. Labour must stop dragging their feet and get children off social media.’

For our investigation, we set up a TikTok account on ‘restricted mode’, with the age set to 14 years old, and watched hours of content about children’s TV programmes.

We put limitations on profanity, firearms and weapons, sexually suggestive content, drugs, violent or threatening imagery, and mature or complex content.

Despite this, the account’s main feed was bombarded with a significant volume of content within each of these categories.

The firm behind the videos is run by former Snapchat director Ben Chiang. Mr Chiang – a married father of one – has openly referred to the output as ‘AI slop’. Earlier this year, he boasted on LinkedIn that the videos have racked up more than 10billion views.

Those who want to keep watching must pay for access via the firm’s companion app, Reel AI, rated on Google Play as suitable for children as young as seven.

It offers up to ten free episodes of each mini-series before charging viewers per episode. One purchased episode shows a mother placing her baby in a bathtub and using a hairdryer to electrocute it.

Online safety expert and psychotherapist Dr Catherine Knibbs said: ‘This is about creating wealth at the expense of children.

‘You have to be a sincerely disconnected human being to not see the harm that this meticulously curated content can cause.’

When asked who owned the TikTok accounts that made the videos, Mr Chiang, who sits on the board of a youth homelessness charity, told the MoS: ‘It is inaccurate to characterise Director AI itself as producing and publishing all of the videos made using our tools.

‘Director AI provides AI video-production tools that creators use to make content. Those creators make their own editorial decisions and choose where to publish their work, including on third-party platforms such as TikTok… They may choose to promote Reel AI, but we do not own their accounts or pay them specifically to promote the app.’

Mr Chiang added: ‘Some content created using our tools may contain fictional mature themes, but TikTok and other platforms themselves determine eligibility for and filtering within their Restricted Mode under their own systems and policies.’

Following contact by the MoS, the age rating for Reel AI has been changed ahead of the next update to the app.

A TikTok spokesman insisted the platform’s community guidelines prohibit content promoting or glorifying violence and sexual abuse or exploitation.

They said any videos violating the standards have been taken down. Following contact by the MoS, TikTok removed the videos cited in this report – but all the accounts that made them are still active, and still show other similarly inappropriate material.

A spokesman for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport said that broadcast regulator Ofcom has the Government’s ‘full backing’ to ensure tech companies comply with the Online Safety Act.

‘Those firms have a legal duty to remove illegal content, as well as protecting children from harmful material,’ they said.

Meta buried child-safety risks

Instagram owner Meta failed to publicly disclose damning internal findings exposing ‘serious issues’ putting children at risk on the service, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

A report from December 2022 – buried in court documents provided as part of a deposition by Sir Nick Clegg in the case brought by 29 US states against Meta – contained ‘high-risk findings’ over child safety.

It revealed that on one sampled day, around 1.4million accounts that Instagram had itself flagged as potential child-safety risks were recommended to teenagers.

On another, 924,000 potential ‘violators’ were shown the account of at least one unconnected teenager.

These were unverified adult accounts that had either received at least one child sexual exploitation violation in the previous 90 days or been flagged by Meta’s automated system as potentially posing a risk of inappropriate interactions with children.

Sir Nick, who was Meta’s then president of global affairs, said he forwarded the audit of Instagram’s youth safeguards to Meta’s legal team but did not know what action was taken.

FEMA Aid Center Opens in Hobart, Indiana After Storm Damage

HOBART, Ind. (WLS) — Northwest Indiana residents still cleaning up after the powerful Aug. 11 storms are looking for help with mounting repair bills as the Federal Emergency Management Agency expands its disaster recovery presence across the region.

A FEMA disaster recovery center in Lake County remained open Saturday for a second day, offering residents guidance on how to apply for potential financial assistance. It is among several FEMA locations expected to open in northwest Indiana in the days ahead.

Over the weekend, the mobile disaster recovery center was operating out of Hobart Fire Station No. 2. Many people who stopped by said the storm left them with expensive damage and few clear answers about how they would afford repairs.

“I have two giant holes in my roof, and I don’t have money to fix it. I’m a senior citizen, and I don’t get a lot of Social Security. I don’t have savings, I just don’t have it,” said Lake Station resident Stephanie Matyi.

Other storm victims said they came to learn what assistance may be available before deciding how to cover the cost of repairs tied to the severe weather.

Susan Murrah, a homeowners association member in Hobart, said cleanup and repair costs could be substantial for her neighborhood and that residents are hoping government assistance may help offset some of the expenses.

“If we can get funding, we want to make sure we know about it and we can do it. If we can’t, we need to know that, too. Maybe there’s other avenues we can take, because a lot of the residents in our neighborhood, they’re older. A lot of people live on their Social Security, and a special assessment would be really difficult,” Murrah said.

Some residents said they are uninsured, underinsured, or have had insurance claims denied.

“They didn’t cover everything that was damaged to my house. Now, I’m looking for extra help,” Gary resident Bernice Martin said.

While FEMA representatives are assisting residents with applications and recovery information, those seeking help acknowledged that the recovery process will take time.

When asked whether he was hopeful about the future, Merrillville resident Ricardo Medina responded, “Hopefully, hopefully it is hopefully one day there is.”

FEMA officials are expected to remain in northwest Indiana in the coming days. A team is scheduled to be in Hobart on Saturday and Sunday before moving to Crown Point, Gary, and Munster next week:

NYC Parolee Accused of Killing 2 in 48-Hour Robbery Spree Captured After Manhunt, Police Say

A parolee accused of killing two New Yorkers during a 48-hour robbery spree was arrested Friday following a manhunt aided by the FBI, police said.

Jesus Acosta, 31, was taken into custody Friday morning after federal authorities announced a reward of up to $25,000 for information that could lead investigators to his whereabouts and arrest.

“Thank you to our cops, detectives, and New Yorkers for their work on locating him,” the NYPD wrote in a social media post confirming the arrest.

Acosta had been wanted in connection with two fatal shootings that occurred just days apart, including an early Tuesday robbery at a Bronx deli, police previously told News Media.

According to police, the gunman confronted a 33-year-old man around 12:16 a.m. inside 149 Grill & Deli at 143 E. 149th St. and opened fire, hitting him multiple times in the chest. The suspect then allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from behind the register before fleeing the scene.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition but later died of his injuries, police said. A fundraiser created by the victim’s sister identified him as Tayvon Shuler, known to loved ones as “Plucky.”

The other shooting unfolded shortly after midnight Sunday at American Best Wings & Pizza at 842 Rockaway Ave. in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Police responding to a 911 call found a 44-year-old man shot in the head and a 39-year-old man shot in the leg.

The 44-year-old was pronounced dead at a hospital, while the surviving victim was listed in stable condition, police said.

A GoFundMe identified the slain restaurant worker as MD Yousuf, a husband, father of two and the sole income earner for his family. The fundraiser said Yousuf’s family is trying to raise money to send his body back to Bangladesh for burial, cover funeral expenses and support his wife, mother and daughters, ages 12 and 3.

“MD Yousuf was a hardworking, kind man who supported his family and showed up for his coworkers every day,” the fundraiser stated.

Shuler’s sister, Tanasha Neal, said in a public Facebook post that her “little brother was murdered” on Aug. 25.

“I am still mentally trying to grapple with it,” Neal wrote, saying she set up a fundraiser for his memorial service so he could have “a nice send off into the after life.”

Before Friday’s arrest, the NYPD issued surveillance images and said Acosta had “Bronx” tattooed on his hand and “Bobby” tattooed on his left forearm. He was described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall and about 175 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Acosta had been on parole since April after serving 10 years in state prison for assault and criminal weapon possession, according to state prison records reported by the New York Post.

In a statement to Fox 5 New York on Saturday, United Bodegas of America thanked the NYPD for taking Acosta into custody but blasted the justice system over his prior record.

“We are relieved that this dangerous man is off our streets, but we are outraged that someone with 13 prior arrests was released on parole after serving approximately 10 years for assault and illegal gun possession,” the group said. “The justice system failed these victims, their families and our communities.”

United Bodegas of America spokesman Fernando Mateo said the case underscored the need for changes intended to curb gun violence and improve bodega safety.

“Governor Hochul must support three to five years in prison for carrying an illegal gun, Mayor Mamdani must bring back bodega panic buttons, and Commissioner Tisch must expedite gun permits for trained, law-abiding bodega owners,” Mateo said.

The NYPD did not immediately release additional details about Acosta’s arrest, including where he was taken into custody or the charges he faces.

News Media reached out to the NYPD and United Bodegas of America for additional comment.
