Dirt-Bike Escape Artist Stops for Gas in Wild LA Police Chase

0

In a dramatic scene captured on video, a dirt bike rider being chased by police through Los Angeles streets caused a stir when he stopped mid-pursuit to refuel his bike.

The individual, suspected to be armed, was initially seen careening through the avenues of South Los Angeles before making an unexpected stop at a gas station to top off his tank.

In a rush, the rider hastily remounted and sped away, inadvertently yanking off part of the gas pump as he bolted.

Throughout the chaotic chase, the suspect, donning a head covering, was also observed using his cellphone—both holding it to his ear and scrolling through it.

Aerial view of a person wearing a black hoodie and mask, pumping gas at a Chevron station, with cars around the pumps, as "LAPD IN PURSUIT OF DIRT BIKE SUSPECT MAY BE ARMED" appears on screen.

A dirt bike rider leading police on a chase through the streets of Los Angeles pulled over to get gas during the pursuit in a wild moment caught on camera.

Iran Seeks Reparation from Ukraine Over Bombed Alleged Weapons Shipment to Russia

Iran’s government is seeking reparations from Ukraine after a July incident in the Caspian Sea involving an Iranian ship.

Ukraine has stated the event was unintentional, yet President Volodymyr Zelensky hinted that the vessel was allegedly transporting Iranian drone weapons intended for Russia’s military operations against Ukraine.

Occurring on July 25, the incident involved a drone attack by Ukraine in the Caspian Sea. It was initially reported by Ukraine as targeting two Russian ships believed to be carrying “military cargo from Iran.”

WATCH — President Trump: I’m the Last Person to Trust Iran:

Iran countered, claiming one of the targeted vessels was a civilian ship carrying iron from Russia to Iran. The strike reportedly resulted in the death of one sailor and injuries to two others on board.

Iran was infuriated by what it called a “hostile and criminal” act of “terrorism,” summoning the Ukrainian charge d’affaires in Tehran to lodge a formal protest. The Iranians accused Ukraine of attempting to connect the Russia-Ukraine war to the U.S.-Iran conflict and drag European powers into the latter.

Zelensky stood by the attack at first, adding that not only was Iran supplying Russia with drone weapons, but Russia was reciprocating by providing Iran with “active Russian satellite surveillance of the Gulf states and U.S. military facilities located there.”

“There is a clear correlation between Russia’s satellite imagery of these sites and Iranian strikes — both before the attacks, in preparation for them, and afterward, to assess the damage inflicted,” he said.

WATCH — Trump: I Thought Russia/Ukraine Would be Easy to Settle But Zelensky & Putin Hate Each Other:

Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, claimed the Iranian ship was ferrying drone and missile components from Iran to Russia, not civilian cargo.

On July 28, the leftist newspaper New York Times (NYT) reported that Iran contemplated launching a ballistic missile at a Ukrainian seaport in retaliation, intended to “make a symbolic point but cause relatively little damage.”

The Iranians were reportedly talked down from this retaliatory action by diplomats, who warned that Ukraine’s response to a missile attack might be more than Tehran bargained for. Some Ukrainian analysts also felt it would be a mistake for Kyiv to get embroiled in another conflict while it was still fending off the Russian invasion.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had a phone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who told him the strike on the cargo ship was “unintentional.” Sybiha had previously dismissed Araghchi’s accusations against Ukraine as “Iranian lies” in a social media post.

WATCH — Iran Gets First Taste of U.S. Sea Drones:

On August 10, Iran jolted the uneasily resolved dispute back to life by dismissing Ukraine’s claim of accidental targeting, and demanding reparations for the cargo ship bombing.

“We still believe that we have not been convinced by the Ukrainian side’s claim that this action was unintentional,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei.

“They must certainly compensate us. Naturally, if they do not compensate us, we will seek compensation ourselves,” he said.

Iran’s ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said on Wednesday that Ukraine has not paid reparations for its “act of terrorism” yet, but “negotiations” are still in progress.

“Ukraine’s European and American supporters must also accept their responsibility for Kyiv’s actions and hold them accountable,” he added.

Daily Sugary Drinks Double Cancer Risk in Youth: A Waking Health Crisis

0

Sugary sodas and fruit juices have never been the poster children for healthy eating.

These beverages have long been criticized as culprits of empty calorie consumption, often containing more sugar than four Krispy Kreme donuts. This excess can lead to increased risks of chronic health issues such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and dental decay.

Now, emerging research suggests a new danger: consuming just one sugary drink per day might significantly heighten your chances of developing fatal stomach cancer.

In this latest study, researchers associated with Harvard delved into the health records of over 100,000 adults. Participants completed biennial surveys detailing their dietary patterns and beverage intake.

From the analysis, a startling pattern emerged. Individuals consuming at least one sugar-laden drink daily had more than double the risk of stomach cancer compared to those who avoided these beverages entirely.

And women were the most vulnerable, with a three-fold increased likelihood of being diagnosed with the condition compared to two-fold for men.

The researchers noted that while more research is needed to find a firm association between sugary drinks and gastric cancer, the new study is the first of its kind to investigate the potential relationship.

The findings also come as scientists race to find causes behind a nationwide surge in stomach cancer cases, particularly among adults under 50.

Artificially sweetened beverages, however, were not associated with an increased risk of stomach cancer.

‘This is the first study to demonstrate an association between sugar-sweetened beverage intake and gastric cancer in a US population,’ Andrew T Chan, senior study author and gastroenterologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, said.

‘Gastric cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death worldwide, but we’ve known very little about how diet might contribute to this cancer.’

According to the American Cancer Society, about 31,500 Americans are diagnosed with stomach cancer every year and just under 11,000 die.

Patients on average are 68 years old, and the majority are diagnosed after age 65.

While cases were on a steady decline for nearly a century, starting in the 2010s, there has been an uptick in younger groups.

Among people under 50, diagnoses have risen by roughly one percent a year, which experts say may be due to ultra-processed foods, antibiotic use and the stomach bacteria H pylori.

Early warning signs can be vague and easy to dismiss, including persistent abdominal pain, bloating and frequent burping. Rather than triggering alarm, these symptoms are often brushed off as stress, diet or minor digestive issues.

Instead of anything sudden or dramatic, many patients simply report a lingering sense that something is ‘off’ – a low‑level discomfort that gradually worsens over time.

By the time they seek help, they are often already at later, harder-to-treat stages.

In the new study, published in Gastro Hep Advances, researchers looked at health data from 112,284 adults enrolled in the Nurses’ Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-Up Study.

Participants filled out questionnaires every two years on dietary habits, including information on sugar-sweetened beverages such as soda, punch, lemonade and sports drinks. These generally include high-fructose corn syrup, though the researchers did not specify what sugars the beverages were sweetened with.

The team did, however, differentiate between sugar-sweetened beverages and those sweetened using artificial sweeteners, such as diet sodas.

Between 1986 and 2022, there were 278 documented cases of gastric cancer.

People who consumed at least one sugar-sweetened beverage a day – defined as 8oz or 237ml – were 2.4 times more likely to develop gastric cancer compared to those who never drank the beverages after adjusting for other risk factors.

While the risk was elevated for both men and women, women were at a three-fold greater risk while men were twice as likely to develop the disease. Men are typically more prone to stomach cancer, so the cause of the discrepancy is unclear.

Researchers are still identifying exactly why sugar-sweetened beverages may raise this risk, and are exploring multiple areas.

‘Several underlying mechanisms have been proposed, including weight gain, insulin resistance, steroid hormone imbalance, inflammation, DNA damage and dysbiosis [a gut microbiome imbalance],’ they wrote.

‘However, the precise mechanism of carcinogenic effects of sugar-sweetened beverages has yet to be investigated. Future studies are warranted to confirm these findings as well as to investigate the potential biological mechanisms involved.’

Premier League Comeback: De Zerbi’s Revolution, Historic Striker Goals, and Anti-Timewasting Rules to Watch

0

The Premier League is gearing up for an exciting season, teeming with fresh faces both on the benches and the field. Here’s why this season’s kickoff is drawing so much anticipation…

LIFE AFTER PEP

Manchester City stands at the cusp of a new era as Enzo Maresca steps into the managerial role. With Pep Guardiola’s legacy still in the rearview mirror, all eyes are on Maresca to see how he will shape the team’s strategy and maximize player performance.

The ghosts of past transitions hover ominously, as Manchester United and Arsenal famously struggled after the exits of their long-serving managers, Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. City is eager to avoid a similar fate.

Signs so far have been encouraging—Maresca demonstrated his prowess with a commendable 60% win ratio during his stint at Chelsea, accumulating an average of two points per match until his departure in January 2026.

Enzo Maresca will be concerned after Arsenal blew his team away in the Community Shield

Enzo Maresca might find himself on edge after his team fell to Arsenal in a lopsided Community Shield matchup.

But last Sunday’s 3-0 drubbing at Wembley by champions Arsenal showed the job he has on his hands. And it wasn’t all smooth sailing at Stamford Bridge. The fans turned against him as they didn’t enjoy his patient football and pressure piled on when the Blues endured disappointing runs.

His playing style focused on slow and intricate football, similar to Guardiola’s. And the City hierarchy had always earmarked him as the man to step into the shoes of a genius.

But can he restore the club to the top after two years without lifting the Premier League – and without Rodri and Bernardo Silva, who have both departed? We shall soon see…

NINE-FIGURE SIGNINGS

Gone are the days of nine-figure transfers being a novelty. There have been three £100+ million transfers this summer already, meaning there are now nine players who have commanded such a fee from a Premier League club.

Elliot Anderson impressed at the World Cup and was set to become the most expensive player in British history, but his deal has since been surpassed by Morgan Rogers’ £117m move from Aston Villa to Chelsea.

Sandro Tonali was the first £100m+ signing of the summer as he joined Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham, despite interest from Man City.

And we could be set for an even bigger move, if Liverpool can seal a switch for £145m-rated Bradley Barcola from PSG. The Frenchman is viewed as Mohamed Salah’s replacement, so he certainly has some big boots to fill.

Seeing the new signings suit up for their new teams will be brilliant for their supporters, but they will have some expectations to live up to

BAD NEWS FOR THE TIME-WASTERS…

This may not excite everyone, but many who were on the receiving end of time-wasting tactics will be pleased. The Premier League announced changes to the laws which will be implemented during the upcoming season.

The biggest change will see a trial introduced to prevent tactical goalkeeper time-outs. It aims to prevent goalkeepers feigning injury to allow outfield players to speak with the manager or slow down the momentum of a match.

As part of the trial, if the game is stopped – or the restart is delayed – for an injury to a goalkeeper, his manager will have 10 seconds to nominate another player to leave the pitch for one minute after play has restarted. If no player has been selected within 10 seconds, the captain must leave the field.

Pro Ref, the organisation that manages match officials for the Premier League, says the trial ‘is designed to address occasions where goalkeeper injuries have been used to disrupt momentum, slow the game down or create opportunities for tactical instruction’.

A manager is unlikely to opt to lose a defender or midfielder for a minute, so in theory when a goalkeeper appears to need treatment, it will be for real.

There will also be a 10-second time limit for players to leave the field when substituted. If the time limit is exceeded, the substitute cannot enter until the first stoppage after one minute has elapsed.

HOW WILL DE ZERBI WORK OUT?

Tottenham have shown a lot of faith in De Zerbi, going on a summer spending spree to avoid another embarrassing campaign.

There was a point last season when it looked like Spurs would actually get relegated, but De Zerbi helped steer them to safety when he was appointed with seven games to go.

Last season, the Italian’s goal was simply to survive. This time, having enjoyed a full pre-season to implement his beliefs and system into the players – and signed Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Marcos Senesi, Andrew Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke, it must be different. The pressure is on.

In a recent pre-season press conference, he said: ‘It’s important to change the habits, because our habits in the last two seasons have been not good in terms of results.’

How Tottenham fare this season under Roberto de Zerbi will be fascinating to watch

RECORDS TO BE BROKEN…

Every season, there are numerous records to be broken and landmarks for players to reach. This season will be no different.

Last year, the focus was on James Milner chasing the all-time appearance record and Max Dowman becoming the youngest Premier League goalscorer.

In 2026-27, Haaland could join Mohamed Salah and Thierry Henry as the only players in history to win four golden boots if he finishes as the league’s top scorer again.

Danny Welbeck (90), Ollie Watkins (91), Chris Wood (92) and Callum Wilson (95) could all join the Premier League 100 Club, while Jordan Pickford only needs two more clean sheets to reach 100 shut-outs.

EUROPEAN FACTOR

Almost half of the teams in the league will be booked with midweek European fixtures alongside Premier League matches. Nine sides are participating in either the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League.

It’s no secret that these matches take their toll on the players, causing a shake-up in the league. The fatigue of opponents who qualify for these European competitions provides an opportunity for the underdogs to pull off a shock result and climb up the table.

Earlier in the year, Arsenal dropped points to newly promoted Sunderland days after beating Slavia Prague 3-0 in the Champions League. Chelsea experienced similar struggles, losing 2-1 to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge three days after thrashing Ajax 5-1.

The Blues won’t have to worry about the European factor this season, as they failed to qualify for any of the three UEFA competitions, having finished tenth in the Premier League in 2025-26. The same goes for Tottenham.

Manchester United on the other hand, are back in Europe. They qualified for the Champions League after finishing third so their calendar will be fuller this campaign. Will it help or hinder them?

Morgan Rogers and Co could benefit from not having to play in Europe this season

Morgan Rogers and Co could benefit from not having to play in Europe this season

UNDERDOG SPIRIT

When Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland were promoted, almost everyone wrote them off immediately. Burnley and Leeds had been considered yo-yo clubs for some time, while Sunderland hadn’t experienced top-flight football in nine years. And the previous two seasons, all three promoted clubs had gone straight back down.

Although Burnley did go down, finishing 19th on 22 points, Leeds and especially Sunderland proved the doubters wrong. Daniel Farke led Leeds to a 14th place finish while Sunderland pulled off a miracle and qualified for the Europa League.

Across the last 10 seasons, 16 of the 30 promoted teams have gone down. Now Hull, Ipswich and Coventry are back in the big time, they too have been written off before a ball has even been kicked. But when the whistle is blown and the ball starts rolling, anything can happen.

In a bid to stay up, both Hull and Ipswich have recruited heavily, with the former signing tricky forward Leon Bailey to bolster their attacking options.

Although Coventry haven’t made as many signings, they arguably completed the best business by tying down manager Frank Lampard. The Englishman signed a deal keeping him at the club until 2029. The Sky Blues have also completed the permanent signing of Carl Rushworth from Brighton, following a very successful loan spell between the sticks.

Matching Leeds’ 14th place finish would be considered a success, but there will be a sliver of hope for these teams that maybe, just maybe, they can emulate The Black Cats’ incredible achievement.

Ex-Employee Arrested for Restaurant Theft: Key Details Inside

0

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a bizarre twist of fate, a former employee, Richard David Hunnicutt Jr., 53, found himself behind bars after being accused of stealing money from a safe at his previous workplace. This arrest comes on the heels of an earlier dismissal for allegedly pilfering employee tips.

According to reports from the Gainesville Police Department, a startling discovery was made on August 17, when a manager at Playa Bowls, located at 1260 SW 5th Avenue, uncovered an unsettling scene. Missing from the safe was $950, and the security cameras had been defaced with spray paint, rendering them inoperative.

Upon digging deeper, officers reviewed nearby security footage. Around 11:14 p.m. on August 16, a figure clad in an unusual monkey suit and a white mask was captured on video. This person was seen navigating a parking garage leading to Playa Bowls’ rear entrance. In a telling moment, the individual removes the mask in view of the cameras before retreating as a vehicle passes. The person later returns, obscuring the camera lens with spray paint. Access was gained to the building using a code to withdraw a key from the lockbox, followed by entry through the rear door and further vandalizing of internal cameras.

The revelation came when the parking garage manager identified the masked intruder as Hunnicutt. Confirmation was bolstered by Hunnicutt’s Instagram account, which featured a video of him sporting the identical white mask. Subsequently, authorities arrested Hunnicutt at his home on August 18, closing the loop on a rather extraordinary case.

A Playa Bowls manager told the officer that Hunnicutt had recently been fired for stealing tips, but the code to the lock box and the safe combination had not been changed.

The damage to the two cameras is estimated at about $600.

Post Miranda, Hunnicutt reportedly admitted to stealing the money and damaging the cameras because “times are tough and bills needed to be paid.” He reportedly said that after he entered the garage, he saw a vehicle, which “spooked” him into taking off the mask so he wouldn’t look “suspicious.” He said he spent the money on his utility bill and car payment, and he disposed of the mask and the monkey suit in some woods near Hawthorne. He reportedly showed officers shoes that matched the ones seen in the video.

Hunnicutt has been charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure, grand theft, and misdemeanor property damage. He has five felony convictions (one violent) and two misdemeanor convictions (non-violent). Judge William Davis set bail at $25,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hallie Batchelder Silences Body Shamers Amid Harrowing Death Threats

Hallie Batchelder has made it clear she’s finished with tolerating negative remarks.

The 28-year-old influencer took a stand on TikTok this Tuesday, August 18, to address body-shamers decisively. “We need to chill on the body shaming s***,” she asserted. “I’ve addressed this countless times. Should I just put it in my bio? I understand. I don’t look my best right now. Honestly, I haven’t for over a year.”

Hallie further pointed out that being insulted is far from “productive.”

“It just feels like low-hanging fruit at this point,” she remarked. “Surely, there are more intriguing reasons to criticize me. I say plenty of dumb s***.”

Hallie noted that the messages she’s been receiving are “evil” and “rude.”

“I don’t know, I just feel like all summer — and other creators too have been seeing comments sections and videos about other people — and it’s getting too much,” she said. “I’m not gonna get bullied off this app. That’s never happening.”

Hallie told her followers that she has “a lot of self-awareness” about her figure. “Am I too thin? 100000 percent,” she said. “It needs to be addressed.”

“Honestly, I’m more scared to gain weight and have people see that on this app and then get the comments on that,” she continued. “I can never win in this category.”

Hallie also addressed comments about her drinking habits, saying she “probably” does. “If you were to ask any doctor, they would say, ‘Yo, what’s good?’ But also, why wouldn’t I be drinkin too much? I have to deal with you f***ing trolls. Like, damn. Sometimes after reading these comments I need a f***ing martini.”

Unveiling Lanterns: Secrets of the Universal Guardians Revealed

0

Warning: This article contains spoilers for “Lanterns” Season 1, Episode 1

Hal Jordan (portrayed by Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (played by Aaron Pierre) form a dynamic yet tumultuous duo in “Lanterns,” the latest offering from HBO in its expanding DC Universe series. The show artfully blends elements of detective drama with superhero action as it follows the pair—one a seasoned Green Lantern, the other his apprentice—on their mission to unravel a series of bizarre murders in a quaint town, only to discover that extraterrestrial forces are at play.

Naturally, their probing inquiry would have been abruptly halted were it not for Hal and his indispensable power ring, which he wields as Earth’s pioneering Green Lantern. The episode doesn’t just stop there; it intrigues viewers with fascinating lore revelations, notably the introduction of the enigmatic overseers of the Green Lantern Corps: the Guardians of the Universe.

Given the already immense might of a Green Lantern’s ring, the revelation of these Guardians invites curiosity: Who are these beings that stand at the apex of the Green Lantern hierarchy? Let’s delve into what makes the Guardians of the Universe such significant figures, both in the series and their comic origins.

The Guardians of the Universe live up to their moniker

The Guardians of the Universe—referred to by Hal Jordan with less reverence as the “big blue b******s”—hold a venerable status within the DC comics lore, and it appears they will wield similar significance in the DC Universe show. Originating from the ancient world of Maltus, these immortal beings have existed since time immemorial, dedicating themselves to quelling chaos and upholding cosmic order.

The history of the Green Lantern Corps is lengthy, but it’s just the latest of the Guardians’ many attempts to peacekeep the universe. Before this, they’ve policed the galaxies, captured dangerous entities, and even fought wars themselves. They’ve also experimented with a failed, robotic peacekeeping force known as the Manhunters, as well as a gun-toting space cop team known as the Halla’s. They’re also subject to internal conflicts, which has led to more than one splinter faction with their own interests.

While the Green Lantern Corps isn’t perfect, the Green Lanterns of Earth alone prove that they can be extremely heroic and formidable. It will be interesting to see, however, whether “Lanterns” will delve deeper into the history of the Guardians, and whether representatives of this elusive group will turn up on Earth in future episodes of HBO’s Green Lantern series.

Tragic Kenya Helicopter Crash: 5 Americans Among 7 Victims Identified

0

In a tragic incident in Samburu County, Kenya, a helicopter crash claimed the lives of seven individuals, including five American citizens. This unfortunate event was confirmed by local authorities and the U.S. State Department on Wednesday.

Among the deceased are Roger Edward Duarte, Adam Martin Hlavaty, Henry Parra, Jose Alberto Suarez, Stephany Maria Hollihan Vasconez, and Michele Sensi Contugi, alongside Kenyan pilot Josh Outram. These details were provided by the police commander of the region, corroborated by a statement to ABC News.

The Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry revealed that Michele Sensi Contugi served as Ecuador’s national intelligence chief. He was traveling with his wife, Hollihan Vasconez, highlighting the personal loss felt internationally.

Jose Alberto Suarez held a prominent position as the president and general manager of several Telemundo stations, as reported by NBC. His untimely demise is particularly felt within the media industry.

Addressing the tragedy, a representative from the U.S. Embassy stated, “The U.S. Embassy is in touch with local authorities and is providing consular assistance.” The spokesperson extended “deepest condolences to the families and loved ones” affected by this devastating loss.

The authority extended its “deepest condolences to the families of the victims following the tragic accident.”

The U.S. Embassy confirmed five of those who died in the crash were Americans, after initially saying four Americans died.

The Kenya Red Cross said in a social media post that a multi-agency “search and recovery” operation was underway, although efforts were being hampered by difficult terrain and an active fire at the crash site.

The helicopter company Lady Lori released a statement on the accident, saying the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Unleash Flexible Hips: 5 Nightly Stretches Proven to Enhance Mobility Post-60

0

Are stiff hips a nightly struggle? Unwind and ease tension with these five soothing bedtime stretches.

>

As the day winds down, many find that lingering hip stiffness turns even the simplest of movements into a chore. You attempt to rise from the couch, take those initial steps, and immediately sense the tightness enveloping your pelvis before anything else. While foam rolling offers temporary relief, stretching provides a slower, more targeted approach to ease hip tension just before you hit the hay.

The tempo of these exercises is crucial. A calming nightly routine, particularly beneficial for those over 60, ensures consistency and ease. It’s about dedicating a few serene minutes to focus on your hips when your body naturally begins to unwind.

Hip mobility exercises need not feel burdensome. These five specific stretches target the problem areas that typically maintain that locked-up sensation—from the front of the pelvis to the inner thighs. Aim to incorporate them into your routine four to six nights each week. Remember to ease into each position gently and breathe deeply to facilitate relaxation as you stretch.

Half-Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch

Sitting and shorter steps can leave the front of the hip feeling stuck by the end of the day. The half-kneeling hip flexor stretch targets that area with a position you can adjust easily. Keep the stretch gentle and stay tall through your torso. You should feel the front of the back hip open without forcing the position.

Muscles Stretched: Hip flexors and quads.

How to Do It

  1. Kneel on one knee with your other foot planted in front of you.
  2. Place a folded towel under your back knee if needed.
  3. Stand tall through your torso.
  4. Gently shift your hips forward.
  5. Hold the stretch while breathing slowly.
  6. Switch sides and repeat.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Hold for 20 to 40 seconds per side. Perform 1 to 2 rounds.

Best Variations: Standing hip flexor stretch, couch stretch, supported half-kneeling stretch.

Form Tip: Keep your ribs stacked over your hips so the stretch stays in the front of the hip.

4 Wall Exercises That Firm Upper Arms Faster Than Dumbbell Curls After 60

Pigeon Stretch

Pigeon is the stretch people usually feel right away, especially through the glutes and outer hip. It can help when the back or side of the pelvis feels tight after a long day. Use a pillow or folded blanket if the floor feels too aggressive. A supported version will usually work better than trying to sink into a position your hips are fighting.

Muscles Stretched: Glutes and outer hips.

How to Do It

  1. Start on your hands and knees.
  2. Bring one knee forward toward the same-side wrist.
  3. Let your shin angle across your body.
  4. Extend your opposite leg behind you.
  5. Lower your hips toward the floor or onto a pillow.
  6. Hold the stretch, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Hold for 20 to 45 seconds per side. Perform 1 to 2 rounds.

Best Variations: Figure-four stretch, elevated pigeon stretch, seated figure-four stretch.

Form Tip: Use support under your hip if the stretch feels too sharp or uneven.

Standing Forward Fold

A forward fold gives the back of the hips and legs a simple way to relax at night. Keep the knees soft and let your upper body hang without trying to reach a perfect position. The stretch should feel easy enough to breathe through. If your hamstrings feel guarded, bend your knees more and let the tension settle gradually.

Muscles Stretched: Hamstrings, glutes, and lower back.

How to Do It

  1. Stand with your feet about hip-width apart.
  2. Soften your knees.
  3. Fold forward from your hips.
  4. Let your arms hang toward the floor.
  5. Hold the stretch while breathing slowly.
  6. Rise back up with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Hold for 20 to 40 seconds. Perform 1 to 2 rounds.

Best Variations: Seated forward fold, supported forward fold, wide-stance forward fold.

Form Tip: Bend your knees as much as needed so the stretch feels comfortable through the back of your legs.

The 7-Minute Standing Routine That Trims Belly Overhang After 60, According to a Trainer

Alternating Shin Box

Hip rotation tends to get ignored until the floor starts feeling uncomfortable. Alternating shin boxes bring that rotation back in with slow, supported movement. Keep your hands behind you if sitting tall feels tough, and use a smaller range until the switch from side to side feels smoother. This should feel controlled, not like you’re wrestling your hips into place.

Muscles Stretched: Hips and glutes.

How to Do It

  1. Sit on the floor with your knees bent.
  2. Place your feet wider than your hips.
  3. Drop both knees toward one side.
  4. Pause in the shin box position.
  5. Lift your knees back through the center.
  6. Drop them toward the other side and continue alternating.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 6 to 10 slow reps per side.

Best Variations: Hands-supported shin box, seated hip switches, smaller-range shin box.

Form Tip: Keep your hands behind you for support if sitting tall feels difficult.
