Stunning Revelations in D4vd Murder Case: Detective Details Disturbing Teen Photos and Abortion Messages on Singer’s Phone

0

LOS ANGELES — The courtroom filled with graphic and emotional testimony as the hearing for singer D4vd entered its fourth day. The judge faces a critical decision: is there enough evidence to bring D4vd to trial for the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez?

Prosecutors contend that David Burke, known professionally as D4vd, initiated a sexually abusive relationship with Rivas Hernandez when she was merely 13 and he was 18. As the narrative goes, the relationship allegedly turned deadly after she threatened to expose their secret, putting Burke’s burgeoning music career in jeopardy.

Testimony from a detective with the LAPD unveiled unsettling evidence found on Burke’s phone, including explicit images reportedly involving both Burke and the underage victim. Text messages between the two hinted at topics of pregnancy and abortion early on, with exchanges starting just two months after Rivas Hernandez’s 13th birthday.

One particularly chilling message from Burke read: “let this abortion be the last one till we have the real one.”

India’s Unstoppable “Cockroach” Movement Celebrates Historic Triumph

0

In a significant development, Indian education minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stepped down, marking a substantial triumph for youth activists nationwide who had been calling for his resignation following the scandal of examination paper leaks.

The announcement came on Saturday, coinciding with police deployment of tear gas to disperse young demonstrators in New Delhi. This happened just hours before the protest leaders were scheduled to engage in further discussions with government officials.

In a message posted on X, Pradhan explained, “Given the current situation at Jantar Mantar and across the nation, to prevent any misuse by anti-national entities, I have submitted my resignation to the prime minister.”

He added, “I hold the aspirations, emotions, and valid expectations of the country’s youth in great regard.”

The news of Pradhan’s resignation sparked cheers among the thousands of protesters who had gathered in central Delhi and other locations.

“We have done it,” said Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party that led the protests, to loud cheers at the Jantar Mantar protest site in New Delhi.

Youngsters at the site shouted “Jai Hind”, a patriotic slogan meaning “Victory to India”.

India’s youth-led “cockroach” movement began in May after a supreme court chief justice compared some unemployed young people to “cockroaches” and “parasites” during a hearing on another issue.

In early June, a series of exam leaks that forced millions to retake a gruelling, high-stakes medical entrance exam sparked the movement’s first offline protests.

The protests have continued since then, but anger boiled over after police on Monday injured dozens of students, launching baton charges ‌and firing tear gas to deter crowds of protesters marching on parliament.

Federal authorities on Saturday restricted access to the internet and to 18 metro stations to try to limit the protest in New Delhi.

In recent days, Indians in Australia have gathered in solidarity with those back home.

The protests also reflect anger over job scarcity, corruption and government accountability.

Despite rapid economic growth, millions of people in the world’s most populous nation struggle to find stable and well-paying jobs, fuelling discontent.

According to a recent study, almost 40 per cent of India’s graduates below the age of 25 are unemployed.

Revitalize Your Hips After 60: 4 Powerful Chair Exercises that Outperform Gym Machines

0

If rising from a chair feels more challenging than ever before, you’re not alone. Let’s kickstart a journey to regain that ease.

>

Most of us take the ability to stand up from a chair without effort as a given—until it isn’t. One day, you might find it requires more exertion than usual, marking a crucial change in your physical capabilities.

Michael Betts, a seasoned personal trainer with nearly four decades of expertise, co-founded TRAINFITNESS, the UK’s preeminent provider of personal training programs both online and in-person. Over his extensive career, Betts has consistently observed a telling pattern: hip strength is a formidable predictor of maintaining independence beyond the age of 60. Frustratingly, it also remains the most overlooked area in physical fitness routines.

Surprisingly, reclaiming this vital strength doesn’t necessitate a trip to the gym. Just a handful of chair-based exercises, performed several times weekly, can significantly enhance hip strength, and surprisingly quicker than most anticipate.

Common Hip Problems After 60

Weakness across the whole hip complex is the pattern Betts sees most often. The glutes are the biggest muscles in the body, but decades of sitting have switched them off in most people, and by 60 they’ve forgotten how to fire properly. The hip flexors at the front of the hip are the opposite problem: tight and overactive from all that sitting, which tugs on the lower back.

Then there’s the side of the hip, which almost nobody trains. The muscles on the outer hip, particularly the glute medius, are what stop the pelvis dropping to one side every time you take a step. When those muscles are weak, the whole body has to compensate, and knee pain, hip pain and lower back pain often show up together as a result.

Mobility loss is the other issue. External rotation, the ability to turn the leg outwards, is the range that goes first. Getting in and out of a car, putting socks on, stepping sideways to reach something. All of these need external rotation, and most people over 60 have lost more than they realize.

Underneath it all is the confidence problem. Weak hips lead to wobbles, wobbles lead to caution, caution leads to smaller movements, and smaller movements lead to more weakness. It’s a slow spiral, and the way out is to break it early.

If You Can Do This Many Pushups After 60, Your Upper Body Strength Is Elite

Why Chairs Beat The Gym

Chairs are already in the room. That’s the first practical advantage. No commute, no membership, no waiting for a machine, no intimidation. And the friction to actually doing the work is what makes the biggest difference to whether change happens.

A chair is also a great progressive tool. You can start with the chair supporting most of your weight, progress to using it lightly for balance, and eventually do standing versions without any support at all. Gym machines don’t offer that same graded progression because they take stability out of the equation entirely.

Hip machines in gyms also train hip strength in isolation, with a padded seat holding everything else still. Real hip strength has to work in coordination with the rest of the body. Chair exercises train the hips while the trunk holds itself upright, which is much closer to what walking, standing, and climbing stairs demand.

Sit-To-Stand

This is the single most useful hip exercise for older adults. It trains the glutes, quads and hamstrings in the exact pattern of standing up from a chair, which is the marker most physios use to predict whether someone will stay independent. Do this well and everyday life gets easier almost straight away.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, quads, hamstrings

How to Do It:

  • Sit on a sturdy chair with feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart
  • Fold your arms across your chest, or hold them out in front for balance
  • Lean slightly forward at the hips
  • Push through the heels and squeeze the bottom muscles to stand all the way up
  • Sit back down slowly, taking 3 seconds

Recommended Sets and Reps: 10 to 15 reps

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Rocking backward to build momentum, then throwing yourself up to stand
  • Losing the muscle work by relying on momentum instead of control

Form Tip: If you can’t stand up without rocking, use a slightly higher chair or a firm cushion until you can.

4 Bed Exercises That Flatten Lower Belly Faster Than Crunches After 60

Seated March

This wakes up the hip flexors and trains the trunk to stay tall while the leg moves. It’s the pattern that keeps a normal stride length as you age, which is one of the biggest predictors of remaining independent.

Muscles Trained: Hip flexors, core and trunk stabilizers

How to Do It:

  • Sit tall on a sturdy chair, feet flat on the floor
  • Rest your hands lightly on the sides of the chair for balance if needed
  • Lift one knee up towards the chest, as high as comfortable
  • Lower with control
  • Lift the other knee
  • Alternate for 20 lifts total, 10 each side

Recommended Sets and Reps: 20 lifts total (10 each side)

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Slumping backward as the knee comes up
  • Letting the trunk drop out of the work

Form Tip: Keep the spine long and the chest tall throughout the movement.

Standing Side Leg Lift

This trains the glute medius, the muscle on the outer hip that stops the pelvis dropping when you walk. It’s the muscle almost no adult over 60 has trained on purpose, and rebuilding it makes an immediate difference to balance and stride.

Muscles Trained: Glute medius (outer hip)

How to Do It:

  • Stand behind a sturdy chair, both hands lightly on the back
  • Stand tall, feet hip-width apart
  • Keeping the leg straight and the toes pointing forward, lift one leg out to the side, no more than 30 degrees
  • Hold for a moment, then lower under control
  • Do 10 reps on one side, then swap

Recommended Sets and Reps: 10 reps per side

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Leaning the trunk in the opposite direction to get the leg higher
  • Letting the body sway instead of staying upright

Form Tip: A small controlled lift with the trunk still is worth ten times a big lift with the body swaying.

If You Can Hold a Wall Sit This Long After 60, Your Lower-Body Power Is Top-Tier

Standing Hip Extension

This targets the glute max, the largest muscle in the body, in the exact pattern used when walking uphill or climbing stairs. Almost every client over 60 has a weak glute max, and rebuilding it takes load off the lower back for the rest of the day.

Muscles Trained: Glute max

How to Do It:

  • Stand behind a sturdy chair, both hands lightly on the back
  • Stand tall with a soft bend in the supporting knee
  • Keeping the working leg straight, sweep it backward, squeezing the glute at the top
  • Only go as far as you can without arching the lower back
  • Lower with control
  • Do 10 reps on one side, then swap

Recommended Sets and Reps: 10 reps per side

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Arching the lower back to swing the leg further behind you
  • Prioritizing range of motion over the glute squeeze

Form Tip: Two inches with a strong glute squeeze beats a foot with the back doing the work.

Safety Tips And Precautions

Anyone with recent hip surgery, a hip or knee replacement in the last 12 months, or an active diagnosis of arthritis in the hip should speak to their GP or physio before starting. If you’ve been given specific movements to avoid after surgery, follow that advice first, and use these exercises to fill the gaps rather than override it.

Anyone with balance problems severe enough that they’ve fallen in the last 6 months should also check in with a doctor. Standing exercises are a good long-term answer for balance, but only once someone has ruled out other causes of falls, like blood pressure drops or inner ear issues.

For everyone, the standard safety rules apply:

  • Sharp pain is the stop signal
  • A steady muscle burn is fine
  • Numbness or tingling down a limb means stop and get it looked at
  • Dizziness on standing means slow down, sit down, and check in with the doctor if it happens more than once

The chair itself has to be sturdy. No wheels, no folding chairs, no chairs that flex when you lean on them. A solid dining chair is the best piece of kit for all four moves.

The 8-Minute Bed Routine That Restores Leg Muscle Faster Than Gym Machines After 60

How Often To Do These

Three days a week is the sensible starting point. Four to five days is better once you’ve been doing them for a fortnight and know your body handles it well. Daily is fine too, because the loading is low.

Start with two sets of 10 to 12 reps for each of the four exercises. That takes around 12 minutes including short rests, which is realistic for most people. Rest 30 to 45 seconds between sets, or a bit longer if you need it.

After a fortnight, add a third set. After a month, hold the top of each rep for 2 seconds to build strength further, especially on the leg lifts and hip extensions. The extra hold is where the real change starts to compound.

What Results To Expect

By the end of the first fortnight, most people notice that getting out of a chair takes less effort. That’s usually the first sign, and it’s a genuine measurable strength change, not just feeling more energized.

By 4 weeks, walking feels different. The stride lengthens because the hips are firing properly, the pelvis stops dropping to one side, and people often report they’re keeping up with faster walkers without noticing. Family members sometimes comment that you look steadier.

By 6 weeks, day-to-day tasks start to feel easier. Standing up from a low sofa, getting into and out of a car, stepping over a bath edge. These are the movements that creep up on you around 60, and they’re the ones that respond first to hip work.

Strength gains at the 6-week mark are typically 30 to 50 percent on the sit-to-stand, which is a lot. The bit that matters most is what happens next. Keep doing the work through months 2 and 3, and the hip strength keeps building, along with the balance and confidence that come with it.

FBI’s Most Wanted Fraudster Nabbed in Jamaica for Alleged $32M COVID-19 Relief Scam

0

One of the FBI’s most elusive fugitives, accused of COVID-19 relief fraud, is back on American soil after her capture in Jamaica. The suspect, known by the alias “Harley Newman,” was reportedly living there to dodge accusations related to a $32 million fraud scheme tied to pandemic relief, according to statements by FBI Director Kash Patel to Fox News Digital.

On Thursday, 41-year-old Elaine Angene Escoe returned to South Florida, following her apprehension by Jamaican authorities who acted under a federal warrant. Prosecutors have accused her of illicitly acquiring over $32 million from taxpayer-funded COVID-19 relief programs before she absconded, skipping a mandatory court appearance.

In 2025, Escoe faced a federal indictment with charges that included conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and various counts of money laundering, as detailed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

Following her failure to attend a court session in May 2025, a judge promptly issued an arrest warrant. Authorities believe she initially escaped to Jamaica, where she was eventually found and detained after the FBI acted on a helpful tip.

Highlighting the seriousness of the case, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche remarked to Fox News Digital, “This Most Wanted Fraudster allegedly siphoned tens of millions in COVID-19 relief, depriving essential resources from genuine businesses amid a national crisis.”

“She fled the country believing she could escape justice but ultimately could not,” he continued. “Those who exploit taxpayer-funded programs will be held accountable by this Department of Justice, no matter how long it takes or where they attempt to hide.”

Patel called Escoe’s arrest another milestone in the FBI’s international fraud crackdown, saying she is the fourth alleged “Most Wanted Fraudster” captured in the past five weeks.

“The historic success of the ‘Most Wanted Fraudster’ list continues as the FBI and our partners just captured our fourth Most Wanted Fraudster in 5 weeks, and yet another high value target returned to the US by this FBI,” Patel said. “Elaine Angene Escoe, on the run since May 2025, was captured in Jamaica while living under a fake identity of ‘Harley Newman’ — and returned to the United States today to face justice.”

Patel said Escoe is charged with being involved in a conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering connected to a scheme that fraudulently obtained more than $32 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds.

He added that the FBI has returned more than 30 high-value targets to the U.S. since June. Patel said four alleged fraud suspects captured over the past five weeks are collectively charged with nearly $1.8 billion in fraud after spending more than 3,500 days on the run across three continents.

“Under this administration, fraud is no longer tolerated — and those who steal from American taxpayers have nowhere to hide,” Patel said.

Authorities said the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the US Marshals Service, Jamaican law enforcement and the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office coordinated Escoe’s return to the US.

Trump Intensifies Push for Controversial US-Canada ‘Air Filter Barrier’ Construction

0

President Donald Trump has intensified his controversial plan to construct an air filter barrier along the border separating the United States and Canada.

On Saturday evening, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, revealing an AI-generated image that illustrated his ambitious ‘North America Air Filter Barrier’ concept.

The visualization portrayed a massive furnace filter stretching along the border between the US and Canada, highlighting the bold initiative.

Accompanying the image was a sign with the slogan: ‘Clean Air. Clear borders,’ reflecting the intent behind the proposed structure.

Amid this backdrop, the president announced on Monday a punitive 50 percent tariff on Canadian imports, in response to the wildfire smoke that has enveloped and suffocated several American cities recently.

The White House said in a fact sheet that the tariffs would go into effect in 30 days and cover ‘products ranging from wine to hockey sticks to cement.’

A Trump administration official said the US president had also requested that his aides look into additional tariffs on Canada after accusing the country of ‘coming in and poisoning our air.’

It came after Trump declared that Canada has unfairly discriminated against American autos, alcohol and dairy products.

Trump vowed to hold ‘Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their forests and brush’ after wildfires in Ontario caused massive plumes of smoke to blanket cities across the US

Trump last week said the US was being ‘invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous, and totally unacceptable.’

He also vowed to hold ‘Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their forests and brush.’

Trump then pulled the surprise tariffs on Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney after he met the liberal leader the day before at the World Cup final, where the two appeared chummy.

Carney warned that the tariffs have hurt people on both sides of the border and that he was ready to work to strengthen his country and support Canadian workers.

More than 70 percent of Canada’s exports go to the US, making America its largest trade partner.

Carney said Canada is intensifying negotiations with the US to reach a comprehensive trade deal but is prepared to respond should Trump’s threat of 50 percent tariffs on Canadian goods go into effect.

‘If these tariffs, or other measures come into force, there’s a full range of things that we can do in that regard,’ Carney said after meeting with Canada’s premiers and territorial leaders in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on Thursday.

Carney said ‘everything’s on the table’ if an agreement can’t be reached before the tariffs kick in.

‘We don’t need to respond in advance,’ he said. ‘In fact, I think it would be counterproductive at this stage to respond in advance.’

The new tariffs cover a wide range of goods, including honey, liquor, cement, dairy products, some wood products, hockey sticks and other items.

They exclude energy products, potash, fish and critical minerals, but would include goods previously protected from import taxes by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA.

That 2020 trade pact was not renewed by the US, triggering a new set of negotiations that could run until 2036.

Carney said the tariff threat could be a negotiation tactic by the US.

‘We’ve seen a series of trade negotiations that the US has undertaken, and normally there’s a deadline,’ he said. ‘Normally there’s an outsized tariff associated with that deadline.’

Carney believes there is a willingness among American officials to reach a trade deal.

Trump and Carney spoke about the wildfires in Ontario that caused massive plumes of smoke to blanket cities across the US during their meeting at the World Cup final last Sunday.

The President said the conversation went well, ‘But I told him, “You’ve got to stop these fires from coming in and poisoning our air.” Our air’s being poisoned.

‘I have a good relationship with Mark Carney, but you know, we got to stop the fires up there,’ Trump said.

‘If we can help them, we’ll help them – but maybe they should pay us some damages or something, or [we] should do some tariffs,’ he then threatened.

Trump went on to call the smoke ‘terrible,’ specifically pointing out the situation in Detroit, Michigan, where assembly line workers at Ford Motor’s Michigan Assembly Plant were sent by ambulance to nearby hospitals on Thursday, according to the Detroit Free Press.

But the poor air quality was felt in other parts of the country as well, with smoky conditions being felt in Washington, DC and New York City.

Trump has further threatened to impose tariffs over a major outbreak of an ‘explosive diarrhea’ parasite potentially linked to lettuce from Mexico.

In a press briefing at the White House Friday, the President said: ‘I think what we are going to do is put a major tariff on Mexico because of the lettuce.’

Trump weighed in as cases of cyclosporiasis soared to 11,000 across 41 states, leaving public health officials scrambling to find the cause.

Health officials have suggested that cases of the parasite, a disease transmitted by food or water contaminated with human feces, may be linked to shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms that was sent to Taco Bell restaurants in nine states.

Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania are also now suggested to be affected, alongside Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia.

Tests on lettuce from Taylor Farms’ manufacturing facility in Mexico have returned a false positive, however, a voluntary recall of the products is still in place.

The business temporarily closed its Central Mexico site on Thursday.

The Trump Administration on Friday also announced a new wave of blistering tariffs targeting 60 trading partners

The levies, which range from 10 percent to 12.5 percent and impact major economies like China, India and the European Union, sparked protests from Beijing and other targets.

The Trump administration has moved swiftly to rebuild the president’s tariff wall after the Supreme Court struck down a host of his duties in February – dealing a blow to his ability to unleash steep levies at will.

After the setback, Trump tapped different authorities to reimpose a 10 percent tariff on imports. But this only lasted 150 days and expired on Friday.

The volley of new duties, initially proposed in June, now takes its place and will impact 60 US trade partners, which constitutes 99.4 percent of American trade in total.

Van Plows into Crowd at Pride Festival: 1 Dead, Several Injured

In a shocking turn of events, German authorities cancelled a widely celebrated pride festival in Berlin on Saturday. The decision came after a tragic incident where a white van plowed into the crowd, leaving multiple people injured and resulting in one fatality.

“We are currently deployed with numerous police forces as well as rescue units from the Berlin Fire Department in the Großer Tiergarten,” stated the Berlin Police via a translated X post. Attendees were urged to evacuate the area immediately.

Rescue personnel are on-site, providing medical assistance to those who sustained injuries during the incident.

This staggering event unfolded amidst the annual Christopher Street Day festival, a prominent LGBTQ+ pride celebration in the city.

Federal Court Defeats Trump’s Mail-In Voting Challenge: A Setback in Election Battle

0

In a significant legal setback for the Trump administration, a federal appeals court ruled on Saturday to uphold an injunction against implementing more stringent mail-in voting measures ahead of the looming midterm elections. With the political landscape tense and control of both the House and Senate at stake, this decision is particularly impactful.

The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held firm in its decision not to overturn a previous lower court ruling from June, which had declared certain components of President Trump’s directive unconstitutional. This legal challenge was spearheaded by several Democrat-led states, including California, Massachusetts, and Washington, who successfully argued against the administration’s stance.

In a close 2-1 decision, the appeals court denied the Trump administration’s appeal, reinforcing the earlier verdict.

President Trump’s contested order tasked the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with compiling a list of verified U.S. citizens eligible to vote in each state, utilizing sensitive information gleaned from federal databases. Furthermore, the directive instructed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to scrutinize officials mailing ballots to individuals deemed “not eligible” to vote.

In her ruling, Judge Talwani underscored that President Trump lacked the authority to mandate the DHS to assemble such data, and similarly, the USPS could not enforce these mail-in voting directives. She emphasized that Trump did not possess the legal power to coerce local election officials into relying on these inevitably incomplete citizenship lists under the threat of criminal prosecution.

Trump has remained critical of mail-in ballots and in his July primetime address on election integrity said there were “shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure. This evidence shows that the election system we have dangerously exposes, and really exposes like levels never thought possible, the hacking, exploitation, and foreign interference.”

He also mentioned in the same speech that how long it took California to count mail-in ballots was “one example of insanity” caused by mail-in voting.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has said that absent any ruling in its favor the administration may ask the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene.

Oklahoma Influencer and Husband Dead in Shocking Tragedy

0

In a tragic sequence of events that unfolded in Owasso, Oklahoma, an influencer was shot dead by her own husband, who subsequently took his own life. This shocking murder-suicide occurred just two weeks after she publicly accused him of being a pedophile on the popular social media platform TikTok.

The influencer, 43-year-old Sara Gilson, had recently shared a video following a trend on TikTok known as the “Netflix Documentary.” This trend features users creating mock segments as if filming a real documentary, ranging from humorous tales to personal, often painful stories. In her video, Gilson addressed the serious allegations against her estranged husband, 48-year-old Shawn Duffey, accusing him of pedophilia.

“Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon-to-be ex-husband, who I just found out is a pedophile,” Gilson stated in her TikTok post, casting a spotlight on her troubled relationship with Duffey.

The video carried a caption that left little doubt about the severity of her claims: “I wish I was joking #plottwist #netflix #documentary.”

In a devastating development less than two weeks after the video’s upload, both Gilson and Duffey were discovered deceased in her Owasso residence on Thursday, July 23. This harrowing incident underscores the unpredictability and potential consequences of public disclosures in the digital age.

A child who lived in the home made the 911 call and authorities arrived at the scene around 11:15 p.m., according to KTUL. They were identified as the victims by a family member.

Last month, Gilson was in court to explain why she wanted to extend an emergency protection order against Duffey, who was required to stay 100 yards away from his wife, forcing him out of the home, according to People.

Gilson alleged in her application for the protective order that Duffey had threatened suicide “and went on the run,” according to The Oklahoman.

The same day, another protective order was issued against Duffey by on behalf of a 15-year-old girl who was a member of the youth basketball team he coached.

Duffey allegedly sent the minor inappropriate messages, kissed her and touched her inappropriately, and invited her to his hotel room during a tournament, offering money “to keep her quiet.”

The Owasso Police Department did not immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment.

Manhattan ICE Building Torched: Suspect Detained in Arson Investigation

0

An upheaval unfolded in New York City as police detained a man for igniting what authorities described as an “incendiary device” in front of a federal building earlier today.

Chaos erupted as three individuals sustained injuries when an unknown assailant detonated an explosive outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in lower Manhattan.

“At approximately nine this morning, a man appeared with an incendiary device along with some unknown liquid. He poured this liquid, then strategically placed fireworks on top, which sparked a small blaze,” explained James Barnacle Jr., Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s New York field office, during a press briefing.

“Our joint terrorism task force is handling this incident as an anti-government assault targeting a federal facility,” Barnacle added.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 43-year-old Andrew Arrabaca, an Army veteran, according to the FBI official.

‘He ignited gasoline, he poured gasoline onto the ground and ignited it with a lighter and an incendiary device. That device was a firework, a large firework in a canister that proceeded to catch on fire. Pretty big flame, as you’ve seen on the internet,’ he said.

‘He then pulled out an airsoft rifle and fired five to seven pellets, if you will, in the direction of 26 Federal Plaza.’

Barnacle added that Arrabaca served in the US Army from 2001 to 2005, and was a repairman and mechanic on patriot missile systems.

‘Mr. Arrabaca was looking to injure people and harm people. He had two axes, a hammer, a machete and three knives. Fixed blade knives. He had, as I said earlier, six incendiary devices or fireworks, and he had some other destructive items going,’ Barnacle said.

Footage obtained by WABC showed the suspect pouring the flammable liquid outside the building then igniting blaze.

As the blaze roared, plumes of black smoke billowed into the air in front of the building.

‘This morning an individual deployed an incendiary device outside of 26 Federal Plaza in New York,’ FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X.

‘The individual is in custody and two minor injuries reported thus far. FBI JTTF [Joint Terrorism Task Forces] is investigating the incident.’

Federal law enforcement, including ICE officers and FBI agents, were pictured responding to the scene.

The suspect is believed to be a protester with a history of anti-ICE activity, according to the local news station.

Officers are ‘looking at the cart the suspect wheeled with him,’ which contained fireworks and airsoft rifles, according to police.

The ‘makeshift incendiary device’ was made up of fireworks and a flammable liquid, authorities said.

Photos from the scene showed the suspect’s cart had a sign reading ‘ICE Off Our Streets.’

Mayor Zohran Mamdani condemned the incident in a post on X.

‘What occurred outside 26 Federal Plaza this morning was deeply disturbing. I’m relieved no one was seriously injured and that a suspect is in custody. My team is in touch with the NYPD and we will support the federal investigation,’ he wrote.

‘Our administration will continue to ensure that every New Yorker is safe in their city – and hold accountable any who threaten that.’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries praised law enforcement for their response to the attack.

‘I am grateful to law enforcement for their swift actions to stop an attack at 26 Federal Plaza this morning, for successfully apprehending the suspect and for keeping the people of New York City safe,’ Jeffries said in a statement.

‘Acts of terror and violence have no place in our City and will never be tolerated. The individual responsible for this must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.’

The Daily Mail contacted the NYPD, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and ICE for more information.
