NYC Residents Unite in Battle Against Rampant Rat Infestation Emerging from Trash Cans

0

Rats, not again!

In the East Village, street-savvy rats are becoming an unsettling presence, challenging their human neighbors on heavily infested blocks. Residents report these pests are surfacing from trash bins and even claiming parked vehicles as their territory.

These problem areas have become hotspots for rodent activity, recording 300 complaints since the start of the year—a significant 37.6% increase in rodent reports compared to the previous year. While citywide rat sightings have decreased from 12,017 instances to 9,023, data from the 311 service indicates the East Village is bucking this downward trend.

Stephen Perez, a longtime porter on Second Avenue, shared his ongoing battles with these persistent pests, noting that the rat population continues to grow despite an overall decline in sightings throughout the city.

“They’ll be in the garbage cans, they’ll pop up when I open the lids,” Perez explained, emphasizing the daily challenges of managing this growing issue.

“I started seeing more of them recently … in the last two months,” said 23-year-old Halle, who lives near Cooper Square: “I usually leave my apartment around 5 a.m., and there’s a lot of trash on the side of the street, so they are always running back and forth.”

“It’s a constant battle,” said fellow resident Kirk Marcoe, 55. “You have to look for signs of rats, and you have to mitigate it, fill holes, just stop them, stop giving them places to live.

“You have to deal with it every single day.”

Manhattan’s Community Board 3 — comprising the East Village, the Lower East Side, Two Bridges and swaths of Chinatown — reported 300 complaints since June — a staggering 37.6% increase in rat-related calls from the same time last year.

But the sanitation department blames the spike on just three corridors for the surge.

The rat-tled streets included Second Avenue between East Seventh Street and St. Mark’s Place; East Fifth Street between Cooper Square and Second Avenue; and Broome Street between Ludlow and Orchard Streets – the latter of which reported a 400% increase compared to this time last year.

“This is not a district-wide increase in rat sightings, but rather, a sharp increase on three specific blocks,” DSNY rep Vince Gragnani said. “The increases you are seeing are driven by a few specific addresses, and … potentially reflect issues inside the individual buildings.”

A majority of the offending buildings, located mostly on East Fifth and Broome streets, have more than 10 units – which are exempt for now from DSNY requirements mandating the use of new anti-rat garbage bins.

Some 70% of all trash in the city is required to be in sealed containers to cut off rats’ food supply, “and the remaining 30 percent is from high-density housing units, of which there are a high proportion in Manhattan,” Gragnani said.

“We are containerizing … trash in phases,” the rep said, “and by 2031, all trash will be in containers.”

Jose Amigon, manager of Paul’s Da Burger Joint, attributes the ratty increase to patrons throwing food in the street – and leaving a mess behind for varmints to munch on.

“With all the restaurants in the streets, there is a major rat ingestion in this area,” said East Village resident Manny, referring to outdoor dining. “You can’t drop a morsel on the ground.”

But some East Village residents say that, even when trash is put away properly, pickup is sometimes delayed – leaving a smorgasbord for critters to feed on.

“Sometimes [it’s] Sanitation: they come and pick up the garbage, sometimes they don’t,” Perez, the porter, said. “They’ll come the next day or maybe two days [later].”

More than 126 missed trash collection complaints were logged to 311 in the district since Jan. 1 to date this year, compared to 219 during the same period in 2025.

However, the sanitation department contends the days of lingering trash – when refuse went out at 4 p.m. and lingered until the following evening – are “long over” and pickup is completed before most people are awake.

Anyone who sees a violation of these rules — or who experiences a missed collection — should contact 311, the sanitation department said.

Trump Dodges FBI Probe, Shields Lindsey Graham from Scrutiny

President Donald Trump recently disclosed that medical professionals informed him a portion of Lindsey Graham’s body had “literally exploded,” following the senator’s unexpected passing last weekend, sparking widespread speculation.

In a phone interview with Newsmax on Monday, Trump was queried about the transparency regarding the situation. He remarked, “I believe we have clarity,” adding that respected doctors mentioned that, astonishingly, a specific part of Graham’s anatomy had “literally blown up.”

However, during a press encounter at the White House on Tuesday, the president firmly dismissed any notions of misconduct. He noted having heard “various conspiracy theories” around the incident, emphasizing his belief that the “FBI is wasting their time” with the ongoing investigation.

Although a preliminary cause of death for the 71-year-old South Carolina Republican has been announced, several experts are advocating for a more detailed inquiry.

Among those calling for deeper examination is Texas Senator John Cornyn, a former colleague of Graham’s in the Senate. On Monday, he stressed the importance of reviewing the toxicology findings.

‘Given where he was and the sorts of things he was advocating for, I think we just ought to resolve all those questions by seeing what the toxicology reports show,’ he told NBC News.

Graham’s spokesperson said the death certificate ‘will be pending until all the toxicological and microscopic testing are finalized,’ and will then be updated to reflect the cause and manner of death.

FBI director Kash Patel said Sunday his agency had stepped in to ‘assist’ local DC authorities. The Daily Mail spoke Monday with Graham’s neighbors, who were interviewed after an estimated 20 agents descended on his house.

Cornyn is not the only Republican who has concerns over the circumstances surrounding Graham’s death, given that he had just returned from Ukraine and was in the process of announcing a bipartisan bill to sanction Russia.

In an interview with News Nation host Katie Pavlich, retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg said that foul play in Graham’s death, particularly by Russia, should not be ruled out.

‘I’m not a conspiracy nut, but I think a full autopsy and toxicology report needs to be done just to quell the waters, and make sure everything quiets down about it.’

‘I mean it’s unfortunate that’s what’s happened, but as you said, I don’t trust the Russians at all, that they would do something like this, I wouldn’t be surprised by it,’ Kellogg added.

Kellogg has served as Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine and Russia as well as National Security Advisor to the Vice President, holding jobs in both Trump administrations.

Kellogg’s daughter, Megan Mobbs, a former Army officer and West Point graduate who serves as the Director of the Center for American Safety and Security at the Independent Women’s Forum, has also called for further investigations into Graham’s death.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Mobbs revealed why she thinks a toxicological report is so critical, given the circumstances surrounding Graham’s final days.

‘What I’m really hoping for is that it’s a toxicological examination that is informed by everything: the foreign threat environment, international travel, symptoms, timeline, medications, meals, contacts, potential exposure,’ Mobbs noted to the Daily Mail.

Mobbs told the Daily Mail that a sophisticated operation would be built precisely to look natural.

‘A sophisticated assassination operation would exploit natural vulnerability – that’s what our adversaries are very good at – and purposefully obscure attribution so that it could produce a medically plausible death,’ she said.

She noted that with older patients, medical examiners do not always look for secondary factors, and warned that a lack of transparency hands adversaries fresh openings.

‘I just want as many questions answered as possible, so the unanswered ones don’t dominate the conversation,’ she added.

Her father, Trump’s former Ukraine envoy Kellogg, has long believed the Russians tried to kill him in 2000, when he was an officer at the Pentagon. He has recounted feeling a sharp pain in his right elbow as he left an event at the Russian Embassy.

By the next day he was in the hospital, where doctors nearly amputated his arm to stop a spreading staph infection that Mobbs recalled was ‘significantly treatment-resistant’ and took months to heal.

Mobbs also renewed her criticism of Representative Anna Paulina Luna, who she said ‘is willing to give every conspiracy under the sun a thorough investigation and vetting’ yet has asked no questions about Graham’s death. Luna’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

Asked about Trump calling the FBI investigation a waste of time, Mobbs urged giving the president ‘a lot of grace’ as he grieves ‘a dear, dear friend.’

His dismissal, she suggested, may reflect ‘some level of psychological processing,’ a reluctance to accept that ‘an adversary could actually get to one of us,’ given threats on his own life, some potentially tied to foreign actors.

Tragedy Strikes: One Fatality, Three Missing as Boat Capsizes Near Alcatraz Island

0

A tragic turn of events unfolded in the San Francisco Bay when a boat carrying 20 individuals capsized near the iconic Alcatraz Island, resulting in one fatality and leaving three others unaccounted for, as reported by local authorities.

The U.S. Coast Guard and San Francisco Fire Department sprang into action around 3:30 p.m. following reports of a boat engulfed in flames situated between the renowned Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.

San Francisco Fire Chief Dean Crispen recounted that a police marine unit was the first to reach the scene, discovering a man in “severe distress” struggling in the water. They urgently pulled him onto their vessel and administered CPR, but sadly, upon arrival at Gas House Cove, he was pronounced deceased.

Chief Crispen initially estimated 19 passengers aboard the ill-fated boat, although eyewitness testimony later confirmed the presence of 20 people.

Thanks to the swift response, 13 individuals were successfully rescued and brought safely ashore. Meanwhile, three others, sustaining injuries from the impact of leaping into the water, were hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition, according to Chief Crispen.

Three people remain missing, the fire chief said.

San Francisco Fire Lt. Mariano Elias said the boat, named Volare, was based out of Stockton and was a 50-foot cabin cruiser. It was not immediately clear what caused the boat to sink about 600 yards from Alcatraz.

“The information we have is that it left from St. Francis Yacht Club, and the initial report was a vessel on fire. Upon arrival, our members did not evidence any fire. The reports we’ve had from witnesses is that there was rough seas and apparently the vessel began to take on water and was turned over in the bay,” Crispen said.

Crews had 11 vessels involved in the effort to find the missing boaters, Crispen said, and they planned to continue their search through the night.

“I want to make sure that every family member out there and everybody knows that we are in an active search,” San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said. “This is an all-hands-on-deck search and, hopefully, rescue.”

Crispen said all the people on board are adults, and most of them are family members.

“Our understanding was there was some sort of memorial service they were engaging in. That’s why they were using this particular vessel,” Crispen said.

Officials set up a family reunification center at Fort Mason, which is west of Fisherman’s Wharf, and the 13 taken safely to shore were at the center.

Crispen said the initial rescue also involved the Oakland Police Department’s marine unit and private vessels in addition to the Coast Guard.

Anyone who believes a family member may have been on the boat and is looking for more information should call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).

Fiery NY Police Car Crash: Troopers Injured in 3-Vehicle Collision Blaze

0

A fiery scene erupted on a rural New York highway when a State Police cruiser was engulfed by towering flames and dense black smoke following a chain-reaction crash. The incident, which occurred on a Tuesday morning, left two state troopers injured as dramatic photographs captured the harrowing aftermath.

The accident took place shortly after 7 a.m. along State Route 374 in Plattsburgh. According to the New York State Police, two marked Dodge Charger patrol cars were traveling westbound when traffic began to slow down near an intersection due to a vehicle preparing to make a turn.

Authorities revealed that a 2018 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 41-year-old Michelle L. Donah from Saranac, failed to reduce speed in time, crashing into the back of one patrol car. The impact forced it into the second police vehicle, escalating the situation.

Australia Rethinks AI Strategy Amid Rising Ethical and Societal Dilemmas

0

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s recent pivot towards more stringent regulations on artificial intelligence has been largely met with approval. However, there is growing demand for a clearer roadmap and decisive measures to address new technological risks.

On Wednesday, Albanese revealed that the federal government plans to enact a series of AI standards next year. These will include mandates requiring data centers to support energy production and cover the costs of increased water use.

In a significant step, an AI office will be established within the Prime Minister’s department. The national standards are set to encompass education, workforce rights, and productivity, all while encouraging accelerated AI investments in Australia.

This announcement signifies a departure from the government’s earlier approach of minimal interference and follows sustained pressure from both the tech sector and advocates concerned about AI’s swift economic impacts.

Despite these developments, the Prime Minister offered limited specifics regarding the initiatives. He has committed to establishing legislation by early 2027 following consultations with state and territory leaders through a national cabinet process.

Albanese said getting the framework right would enable faster approvals and make Australia a more attractive destination for international investors.

“It is not our goal to try and legislate for every possible eventuality or risk,” he said.

“That only creates the risk of Australia missing out on investment altogether.”

Questions over the AI office’s role

Monash University AI researcher Geoff Webb labelled the AI office an “important initiative” that would bolster Australia’s capacity to pursue “critical” sovereign AI capabilities.

Digital Rights Watch chair Lizzie O’Shea also backed the move but was concerned fast-tracking AI data centre approvals could exacerbate community mistrust in AI.

“[By] prioritising data centres, we lose capacity to build out renewable energy projects in the climate crisis, new home construction in the housing crisis, and we likely increase the current cost of electricity and water in a cost of living crisis,” O’Shea said.

But Greens senator David Shoebridge was critical, saying the office would not have statutory powers.

“What the prime minister has offered today is a single door in his office,” he said. “That is not going to deliver the protections Australians have been asking for.”

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor said the office would create “more bureaucracy” and hinder Australia’s adoption of the technology.

What will the rules mean for data centres?

The government released expectations for large AI data centres in March, but Albanese said these would now be strengthened through legislation.

Developers would be required to underwrite new power generation for the energy-intensive facilities and pay for additional water use.

The government said the measures would ensure the costs were not passed on to households or businesses, with operators expected to put at least as much energy into the grid as they used.

O’Shea said any deals done with big tech companies or relating to data centres should not be behind closed doors.

“There is a real opportunity for the government to consult openly with communities and work collaboratively to ensure we have the right infrastructure for the 21st century,” she said.

Albanese said Australia should be designing and building AI capability, not just adopting or accommodating it.

Johanna Weaver, executive director at the Tech Policy Design Institute think tank, said choices made on AI over the next year would determine whether the technology “shapes us or we shape it”.

She said Albanese’s announcement needed to be “fast followed with hard decisions” on issues such as copyright, workforce transition and environmental impacts.

“Australia needs co-ordinated, ambitious and decisive leadership on AI,” she said.

Green groups accused Labor of “kicking the can down the road”, calling for a moratorium on data centre approvals until binding rules around energy and water use were in place.

“The prime minister is rolling out the red carpet for these water-guzzling energy vampires, with no plans to regulate them until at least 2027 – that is a betrayal of Australian communities and our national interest,” Greenpeace Australia’s Joe Rafalowicz said.

What will happen to copyright?

There was concern among some creative groups that copyright laws could be watered down after it emerged AI giant Anthropic had lobbied the government to provide clarity on them in exchange for $21.6 billion investment in Australia.

The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance union, as well as the Australasian Performing Right Association and the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society both welcomed Albanese affirming creative workers would have control over how their work is used.

Specifics on copyright protections, as well as other elements of the framework, are likely to come following a consultation period.

Anthropic said it respected the government’s announcement and would take its responsibility to meet the new requirements “seriously”.

How does Australia compare on AI regulation?

Governments worldwide have been grappling with AI governance in various ways. In 2024, the European Union passed the AI Act by categorising AI tools into three levels of risk, and setting out regulations based on the risk levels.

Some countries, such as South Korea, have also looked into building a basic framework that incorporates all separate AI-related bills within its legal system, while Vietnam launched an AI law with details on AI authorship, innovation and risk management.

Despite being the major players in the field of AI, neither the United States nor China have established a standalone regulatory and legal framework, but rely on extending technology-related laws or fragmented specific bills to address concerns of AI in various fields.

Professor Toby Walsh from the University of New South Wales said that while Australia followed the EU and the United Kingdom to create an Office of AI to pursue a coordinated approach, Australia could also learn from the UK, which also offered additional funding into AI research.

“I would hope that we would also be looking at the upside, not just avoiding the downside, but looking at how can we see some of the profits here,” he said.

“Most of the profits [of AI] went up to other places, and we need to make money in our own AI models, our own companies, our own talent. There are lots of other things in the port, not just building the data centres.”

Thune Foresees Strong Positions for Todd Blanche and Jay Clayton in Crucial Confirmation Hearings

0

WASHINGTON — As Senate Majority Leader John Thune anticipates the upcoming hearings, he holds an optimistic view regarding Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and Director of National Intelligence nominee Jay Clayton’s prospects for confirmation.

Blanche’s candidacy faced turbulence last month amidst a Republican protest triggered by the now-abandoned $1.776 billion DOJ weaponization fund. Meanwhile, Clayton’s initial confirmation efforts faltered due to Trump’s insistence on a new Manhattan US Attorney’s Office prosecutor before endorsing Clayton, leaving Bill Pulte as the interim DNI.

“Blanche’s recent discussions have gone remarkably well, as feedback has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Thune (R-SD) in an interview with The Post. He continued, “Clayton, likewise, benefits from prior confirmation experience here for the SEC.”

Expressing confidence in their chances, Thune remarked, “Unless the upcoming confirmation hearings reveal an unexpected twist, both should be in a favorable position. My goal is to have them finalized before we pause for the August recess.”

Although Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) had previously shown concerns over Blanche’s involvement with the weaponization fund, Thune noted that recent dialogues have been notably productive.

Blanche has been the acting head of the Justice Department since April 2, when Trump elevated him from his deputy attorney general post after firing Pam Bondi. The president tapped Blanche, his onetime personal attorney, to serve in his Cabinet permanently about two months later.

Police unions representing more than 670,000 officers, 300 angel families and 100 bipartisan DOJ officials “spanning the Reagan, H.W. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden administrations” have all written to Congress voicing their support for Blanche’s nomination, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said Tuesday.

Former Attorney General John Ashcroft, who served under former President George W. Bush; Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association President John Adler; and Jennifer Bos, the mother of a woman whose death was covered up by an illegal immigrant in Illinois, have been invited by Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans to testify in support of Blanche’s nomination, according to Politico.

Democrats on the panel are bringing in Dani Bensky, a victim of notorious sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, and Liz Oyer, a former DOJ official, to testify in opposition to Blanche.

Their invitations suggest Democrats plan to attack Blanche’s handling of the release of documents related to Epstein and accuse him of weaponizing the Justice Department in service of Trump.

Oyer was “fired by Blanche for refusing to rubberstamp gun ownership rights to Mel Gibson, a convicted domestic violence abuser and friend of Donald Trump,” while Bensky had her name “included in multiple batches of released Epstein Files,” due to an apparent failure by the DOJ to redact her name from the documents, Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Dick Durbin (D-Ill) said Monday.

Thune does not expect any Democrats to vote in favor of either Blanche or Clayton.

“They’re both probably, you know, looking at party-line votes,” he said, noting that Clayton’s 2017 nomination to head the Securities and Exchange Commission garnered bipartisan support “back when Democrats actually produced some votes for qualified nominees.”

After touting the work of Senate Republicans to confirm more than 500 executive branch nominations and 47 federal judges during Trump’s second term — noting he has “another 50 plus [nominations] teed up to go” — Thune laid into Democrats once more.

“What’s frustrating, obviously, is that everything takes longer than it should,” Thune said, because Democrats have refused to confirm “a single judge or a single civilian executive branch” via unanimous consent.

“They’re forcing us to go the long way on everything,” he lamented.

“They’re obstructing even qualified nominees, and it’s really a sad commentary on kind of where the Democrat Party is — these people really have, in a lot of ways, lost their minds in the way that they’re playing with, not just nominees, but other things.”

Lindsay Hubbard Opens Up About Emotional Postpartum Split and Co-Parenting Journey with Ex Turner Kufe

Lindsay Hubbard Shares Co-Parenting Update With Ex Turner Kufe, If She's Dating and Updates on Dustin Lynch, Frank Acosta & Danielle, Plus Talks Summer House Season 11 and Regrets

Summer House star Lindsay Hubbard opened up on Monday about her recent breakup with Turner Kufe, discussing their current co-parenting arrangement. During the conversation, she also touched upon her dating life and her connections with Dustin Lynch and Frank Acosta.

Reflecting on the moment she and Turner parted ways, Lindsay described it as an unforeseen event. The couple, who welcomed their first child, daughter Gemma, into the world in December 2024, decided to separate just weeks afterward.

“Anyone who has been through the postpartum phase knows how intense those first six or seven weeks can be. When you add a breakup to the mix, along with the immediate shift to co-parenting, mediation, and organizing custody, not to mention finding nearby but separate living spaces, it becomes overwhelming. [Laughs.] Last year ranks among the toughest I’ve faced, and I’ve endured plenty of challenges,” Lindsay shared with Us Weekly on July 14 regarding her experiences with Turner.

She recalled of the split, “The day we broke up, I was at a restaurant next to [costar] Yvonne [Najor]’s apartment, and I was like, ‘I’m coming over.’ I left my breast pumps at home, and I needed tequila, so she’s literally helping me hand-express the milk out of my boobs into a big bowl on my lap.”

Ultimately, Lindsay admits, “It wasn’t my first choice to be a single mom. I thought we were going to figure it out, but I’m never going to force anyone to be with me.”

Fortunately, things between the exes are going great today following mediation to sort out custody issues regarding Emma, which included a compromise that allowed Emma to appear on ‘In the City‘ with Lindsay while remaining off her social media page.

“[Turner]’s such a great father, and her relationship with him is so special. We communicate very well, so we’re nailing coparenting at the moment,” Lindsay shared. “Hopefully, it stays that way.”

When it comes to Lindsay’s next love interest, she said they would “one hundred percent” have to be okay with being in the public eye, unlike Turner.

“I don’t want to be in a position where I have to choose between a guy and my career,” she explained. “I do. I love companionship, I love operating as a team … I would love a partner that fits well into my life. [But] I’m not looking for that right now.

For now, Lindsay is “enjoying not being locked down.”

“I don’t have the energy to commit fully to any one person. I’m working on the roster. A lot of them are long-distance right now, and I like that,” she revealed.

Regarding former flames Dustin and Frank, who previously dated Real Housewives of Orange County alum Kelly Dodd, 50, Lindsay said she and Dustin were “just friends,” while she and Frank “talk every day.”

“I love [Dustin]; he’s such a great person. Frank is long-distance — he lives here, but he also lives in Miami, and he travels so much for work.”

Brad Pitt’s Struggle with Children’s Controversial Newspaper Ads: An Insider’s Perspective

0

In stark black-and-white print, a California newspaper showcases the latest, and potentially final, efforts by two of Brad Pitt’s children to legally distance themselves from their renowned father.

According to a notice published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt has officially requested a court decree to change her name to Zahara Marley Jolie.

Similarly, the journal publicized a notice from Pitt’s oldest son, announcing, ‘Petitioner Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt has submitted a request to change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie.’ Each of these notices appeared four times consecutively in the newspaper between June 10 and July 7.

In California, the legal name change process involves such filings to deter fraudulent activities and provides sufficient time for anyone opposing the petition to present their arguments against it.

Sources reveal that Pitt reportedly believes that any attempt to contest the name changes might exacerbate the situation, leaving him feeling powerless.

‘He’s always going to respect his kids’ choices at the end of the day,’ one source said, adding that ‘any parent intentionally excluded from their children’s lives as punishment is obviously going to be upset by it.’

Brad Pitt, the Daily Mail was told, feels his hands are tied, and an objection would only make things worse

Brad Pitt, the Daily Mail was told, feels his hands are tied, and an objection would only make things worse

The breakdown in Pitt’s relationship with Zahara, Maddox and their siblings has been years in the making, but those closest to the family remain deeply divided over why.

To start, one must go back to Pitt’s tumultuous relationship with their mother, Angelina Jolie. The exes were involved in a grueling eight-year divorce battle that was finalized in 2024.

The marriage ended after a volatile plane incident in 2016 and abuse allegations, which Pitt has adamantly denied. He has also never been charged with a crime and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services cleared Pitt of physical abuse allegations.

Following the split, a source close to Pitt, 62, suggested that Jolie, 51, allegedly attempted to reconcile with her ex-husband – but he rejected her. A separate source has denied the actress ever wanted her ex back and instead said she ‘participated in years of family therapy with Pitt and the children, for everyone to try to heal.’

A decade later, there is still more healing to do.

According to a second source, it’s not easy for their kids – Zahara, 21, Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Shiloh, 20, and 18-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – to forgive and forget.

‘None of the kids respect Brad because of what he has done to their mother,’ the insider told the Daily Mail on Monday.

‘They remember how awful it was when they were married, all the fights and drama. They always preferred their mom: Brad always told them what they shouldn’t do while Angelina told them what they could do, so it’s no wonder they gravitated toward her.’

Many close to Pitt are convinced, though, that the now-adult children are victims of a long-running ‘alienation campaign.’

‘This very sad situation is the result of a deliberate, devastating, harmful alienation campaign against the kids’ father by the mother,’ the first source alleged. ‘It’s textbook language from children who were taught to alienate another parent.’

The source also claimed that it is ‘the result of years of one parent weaponizing the children against the other, with no regard for the consequences.’

In May, an insider familiar with the situation insisted to Page Six that Jolie has never set out to isolate her children and condemned the use of the word ‘alienated.’

While they seemingly grow further away from their father – with Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox also making moves to drop Pitt’s name, they appear to become closer to their mother.

As one source put it, Jolie is ‘the superwoman’ and Pitt ‘is the villain.’

And it hasn’t helped that following the divorce, another arduous legal battle ensued.

The exes have been fighting over Jolie’s sale of her stake in their French winery Chateau Miraval, where the two ironically said ‘I do’ in 2014.

The lawsuit has reportedly given their kids more ammunition to despise their dad.

‘They hate that Brad has been so difficult with Miraval, they feel he is punishing their mother with the constant bickering over money from the winery,’ the second source said. ‘She has had to spend a fortune on lawyers, and they feel bad for their mom.’

It’s been reported that Jolie has made upwards of $80 million following her divorce, including from the sale of Miraval and other financial agreements.

In addition, we’re told the reason Pitt has been fighting Jolie in court over her Miraval stake is that the sale ‘directly impacted the children’s inheritance.’

The children reportedly also feel resentment for how little Pitt is doing to help their future.

Jolie has ‘built a very positive and creative world for them, and they are grateful,’ the second source said. ‘She is even helping them build their careers, which Brad has never done. Maddox, Pax and Vivienne are thriving behind the scenes in showbusiness.’

Sources close to Pitt say, however, he never had the opportunity to give them a leg up in Hollywood. Jolie ‘deliberately excluded him from having any of these conversations,’ the first source claimed.

A third insider shared just how much Pitt is at his wits’ end with the ordeal, calling it an ‘impossible position as more of his children have chosen to drop his last name.’

‘He views the situation as deeply painful and believes Angelina’s role in how things unfolded is the ultimate betrayal.’

Because of how much Pitt allegedly believes Jolie is at fault for the ’emotional fallout that has been building for years,’ his ‘resentment toward Angelina now extends far beyond the heartbreak of losing his relationship with his children.’

The third source added that Pitt, who has found love again with 33-year-old jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, has zero interest in making amends with his ex-wife and, from his perspective, ‘that chapter of his life is permanently closed.’

‘He no longer dwells on the happy memories of their relationship, and what once felt like a great love now feels so distant that it almost seems as though it belonged to someone else’s life,’ the insider further explained.

‘More than anything, he no longer wants his life or emotions to be dictated by Angelina. He’s tired of carrying that weight and has reached a point where he’s ready to leave the bitterness behind and move on.’

Pitt has, to an extent, ‘accepted that he cannot control’ what is happening with his kids and is instead focused on ‘taking the high road’ and moving on.

According to the insider, he will always hold out hope for his children and that they will one day be able to repair their relationships.

‘If his children ever decide they want him back in their lives, he would welcome them without hesitation,’ the third source concluded.

‘He is choosing to focus on moving forward, believing that time has gradually helped heal wounds he once thought would never close.’

The Daily Mail has contacted Pitt and Jolie’s representatives for comment.

Darline Graham Nordone: Comprehensive Profile, Political Career, and Personal Life Overview

Darline Graham Nordone Biography – Darline Graham Nordone Wiki

In a poignant turn of events, Darline Graham Nordone steps onto the national stage as the newly appointed senator-designate from South Carolina. Her political debut comes amid the backdrop of personal loss, as she fills the shoes of her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham. Sen. Graham passed away unexpectedly on July 11, 2026, at the age of 71. Preliminary findings by the District of Columbia medical examiner attribute his untimely death to a ruptured aorta linked to cardiovascular disease.

South Carolina’s political landscape saw a quick pivot as Governor Henry McMaster revealed at a press conference on Monday, July 13, 2026, that Nordone would assume her brother’s Senate position until January 2027. This interim appointment paves the way for a Republican primary scheduled for August 11, ensuring party representation in the upcoming November midterms.

Reflecting on her new role, Darline expressed heartfelt gratitude and determination, saying, “It is such a privilege to get to finish some of his important work, and I promise to work hard over the next several months to support the president and carry forward the efforts of my brother on behalf of the citizens of South Carolina and the United States.”

Echoing a sentiment of familial duty and personal commitment, she continued, “I think this is what Lindsey would have wanted, and I plan to honor him in this way,” adding an emotional note directly to her brother: “I miss you more than I can even put into words, but I’m gonna do this. I got it. Thank you.”

Earlier in the day, Nordone received a notable nod from President Trump. On his Truth Social platform, he posted: “I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!” This endorsement underscores the weight of both familial legacy and political support that Nordone carries as she embarks on this new chapter.

Career

Nordone has worked as an optician and at various state agencies, including the South Carolina Commission for the Blind and the Department of Employment and Workforce. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the College of Charleston in December 1989. She later earned a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from South Carolina State University in 2009. Her graduate training aligned with a career focused on helping South Carolinians with disabilities find work and live independently.

Darline Graham Nordone was born on June 12, 1964, in Central, South Carolina, US. Her first name has been a source of confusion in some initial reports. Although her birth certificate reportedly spells it “Darlene,” she has used “Darline” since childhood.

Nordone explained in a 2014 interview with The Atlantic that her brother taught her to spell it “D-A-R-L-I-N-E,” and she continued using that spelling. Darline Graham Nordone Family

Darline Graham Nordone and the late Sen. Lindsey Graham were the children of Millie Walters Graham and Florence James “F.J.” Graham. Their parents operated the Sanitary Cafe, a combination restaurant, bar, pool hall and liquor store on Main Street in Central. For part of their childhood, the family lived together in a single room behind the business.

Their mother died from Hodgkin lymphoma on June 9, 1976, when Nordone was 11 — three days before her 12th birthday. Their father died of a heart attack approximately 15 months later, when Nordone was 13 and Graham was 22.

Nordone and the late Sen. Lindsey Graham. Graham, who never married and had no children, shared a tight bond with his sister. Even before their parents died, she said, she relied on her brother. “My parents, since they had to work a lot, Lindsey was kind of the one there that took care of me. If I fell down and scraped my knee, Lindsey was the one I ran to,” she said in a 2014 campaign ad for Graham.

Darline Graham Nordone Political Experience

Darline Graham Nordone hasn’t been in elected office before. As her brother rose through the Republican ranks, Nordone was a constant presence by his side, supporting him in speeches, appearances and even campaign ads. Besides being a frequent attendee at Graham’s political events, Nordone is woven deeply into her brother’s personal and political biography.

When Graham first ran for the US House in 1992, she knocked doors for his campaign. In 2014, she appeared in a campaign ad, telling the story of how her brother took on the responsibility of raising his teenage sister. In 2015, she introduced him as he launched his presidential campaign outside their childhood home, telling supporters: “He has never let me down. Never. I don’t see how he did it, to take on the responsibility of raising a little sister. That came from within for Lindsey.”

Once sworn in, Nordone will become the first woman to represent South Carolina in the U.S. Senate. Graham’s term expires Jan. 3, 2027.

Taylor Swift’s Secret Wedding: Friendship Fallout with Miles & Keleigh Teller?

The absence of Keleigh Teller from the guest list of Taylor Swift’s star-studded wedding caught many by surprise. Once close friends, the duo’s relationship had evidently cooled long before Swift exchanged vows with Travis Kelce. Last June, TMZ revealed that neither Keleigh nor her actor husband, Miles Teller, received invitations to the high-profile event, describing the situation as a “sad time” for their faltering friendship. But theirs weren’t the only notable absences, as Blake Lively also missed the ceremony. The exclusion was unexpected given the Tellers’ previous amicable connections with Swift, highlighted by their appearance in her 2021 music video, “I Bet You Think About Me.”

Just weeks before Swift, often dubbed the “Fortnight” singer, celebrated her nuptials, whispers about her and Keleigh’s dissolved friendship began spreading. Insider accounts claimed that a contentious text thread involving Swift and Lively, discussing a feud between Lively and Justin Baldoni, soured Keleigh’s view, as reported by the Daily Mail. This element of stress, added with pressures surrounding Lively’s dynamic, prompted friends to advise Keleigh to prioritize her mental well-being by stepping back.

However, it was Swift’s lack of support during a critical moment in Keleigh’s life that became a significant breaking point in their relationship. Following the devastation of the Tellers’ home in the Los Angeles wildfires, Swift’s absence in their time of need was perceived as a betrayal. As highlighted by sources conversing with the Daily Mail, the incident marked the end of what once was a close friendship, with Keleigh feeling left in the lurch by someone she had unfailingly supported.

Keleigh Teller used to gush over Taylor Swift online

In the days before Travis Kelce’s engagement, Keleigh had gifted Swift a luxurious token of their friendship—a dazzling opal ring. Celebrating the “Bad Blood” singer’s birthday, Keleigh presented Swift with the jewel, showcasing it on social media back in December 2023. Her post humorously addressed rumors suggesting it might have been a gift from Kelce, but Keleigh clarified in People that the gift was her own gesture, encapsulating their friendship at its peak.

At the time, the friends seemed inseparable; Keleigh even accompanied Swift to the Golden Globes in January 2024. To commemorate the occasion, she uploaded a three-slide Instagram post. “Romy and Michele (and Tree) take the globes,” Keleigh wrote. A month later, the former besties made their last public appearance together. As Keleigh documented in an Instagram carousel, she attended the 2024 Super Bowl with Swift. The post included a video of the pair sharing a hug in the suite where they watched with friends as they celebrated Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs winning the big game. It’s also worth noting that Blake Lively was in the suite celebrating alongside the two.

A year later, the joyous celebration with Swift seemed a distant memory as Keleigh and Miles lost their home in the Los Angeles wildfires. “To everyone reaching out I can’t thank you enough, your kind hearts have meant the world,” Keleigh wrote in a January 2025 Instagram post that showed the fires approaching their home. “Many people have reached out, just either letting us know that they’re there emotionally or people are offering us their place,” Miles told E! News in February 2025. As mentioned, reports claim Swift was not among the many who checked in on the Tellers.
