US Mother Murdered in Ireland: Autopsy Report Unveils Cause of Death

0

A recent report has unveiled the cause of death of the American woman who was discovered deceased in a picturesque Irish town earlier this week.

Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old originally from New York who had relocated to Ireland in 2021, succumbed to suffocation after enduring head trauma, according to a report by The Irish Times. The report cites findings from the Irish state pathologist, Dr. Linda Mulligan.

Initial speculations suggested Carney was killed by physical assault, but the post-mortem analysis revealed suffocation, rather than head injuries, as the cause of death. Law enforcement authorities are now treating her demise as a murder investigation.

Irish police said a person of interest had fled the country before her body was found Tuesday at her home in Killarney, County Kerry, a southwest town popular among American tourists. Some Irish publications are reporting the person of interest is an asylum seeker.

The Irish Times reported Carney’s body was discovered by a family member at the home she shared with her 13-year-old daughter.

News Media sought independent confirmation of the reported cause of death from Irish police, the Kerry coroner and the Irish state pathologist. The Irish Justice Department, which oversees the state pathologist, declined to comment, citing the ongoing criminal investigation, as did Irish police.

Investigators believe the person of interest first arrived in the United Kingdom before traveling to Ireland, RTÉ reported. The Irish broadcaster said detectives have contacted airline and transport authorities and are coordinating with British police and immigration officials as they work to trace his identity and movements. Irish police have also contacted Interpol and Europol.

Despite the international manhunt, Irish police have yet to publicly identify the person of interest or release his name, photograph or physical description.

Irish police, per RTÉ, reported police said they were not in a position to comment on his age, name or nationality for legal reasons, though authorities did not specify the legal basis.

News Media asked Irish police to identify the person of interest and explain the legal basis for withholding his identity. They declined to provide any new information, saying there were “no additional updates at this time.”

The Irish Times reported the person of interest is from the Middle East and has permission to remain permanently in Ireland.

Investigators believe the man caught an early-morning bus from Killarney to Dublin Airport — about 200 miles away — before boarding a flight to Istanbul before Carney’s body was found, according to The Irish Times.

The Irish Mirror reported the person of interest was an asylum seeker living in state-run accommodation in Killarney and that the man knew Carney and frequently stayed at her home.

Carney’s social media profiles described her as a “New Yorker in Ireland” and showed her with a man she identified as her partner. In one recent post, she referred to them as a “mixed couple.” A social media account appearing to belong to the man Carney identified as her partner contains posts from the United Kingdom and Turkey in recent years.

The Irish Times described Carney as a third-generation Irish American originally from Westchester County, just north of New York City. The newspaper reported her father died 11 months ago.

Public records reviewed by News Media indicate she also had ties to Rockland County, New York, and northern New Jersey, while News Media sources said she was a familiar face along Yonkers’ McLean Avenue, a neighborhood with a large Irish-American community.

The State Department confirmed to News Media that an American citizen died in County Kerry on July 7 and said it was providing consular assistance to the victim’s family.

A woman who says she is Carney’s sister wrote on social media that she and her mother are in Ireland for the foreseeable future and working with Irish police. She wrote that a GoFundMe has been set up to help the family cover funeral expenses.

Carney’s cousin, Ryan Fox, said the victim had been very proud of her Irish roots and had been “looking for a beautiful country with like-minded people to raise her daughter,” according to The Irish Times.

“She was taken from the people that love her and we’re all going to do everything in our power to make sure that this doesn’t happen to more people because nobody, nobody deserves this,” Fox said, according to the newspaper citing an interview on RTÉ.

Irish police continue to appeal for anyone who was in the Muckross Road area between 11 p.m. on July 6 and 5 a.m. on July 7 and who may have CCTV or dashcam footage to contact investigators.

Paulina Porizkova and Jeff Greenstein’s Romantic Italian Wedding

0

Paulina Porizkova has exchanged vows with Jeff Greenstein!

The happy couple celebrated their nuptials in Italy and shared the joyous announcement on Instagram this past Friday.

“Just married💍,” they captioned their joint posts, along with photos of the couple embracing and Porizkova proudly displaying her stunning diamond ring.

Earlier in the week, on Wednesday, they had discussed the complex legal journey they faced to wed in Italy in a previous post.

“The process of legally marrying in Italy is challenging enough for Italians,” they wrote in the post. “For two foreigners, it involves about seven months of paperwork. And the complexities persist, even after being officially declared a married couple.”

The television writer, 63, popped the question to the Sports Illustrated cover star in July 2025 after two years of dating.

“He asked,” Porizkova, 61, shared in an Instagram video at the time while showing off her sparkler.

The author was previously married to Cars frontman Ric Ocasek from 1989 until their 2018 separation.

Porizkova — who shared sons Jonathan, 32, and Oliver, 28, with Ocasek — described her family as a “well-built car” but explained that “as a bicycle, my husband and I no longer pedal in unison.”

In 2019, the musician died unexpectedly from heart disease at age 75.

Porizkova, who was still living with Ocasek at the time, found him deceased in their townhouse.

After the rocker’s untimely passing, the mom of two expressed that losing her former partner of 28 years left her feeling like she wanted to die.

As she told Page Six, “It’s not even so much that I thought about how to kill myself or when to kill myself; it was just that feeling of, ‘I just don’t know how to go on.’”

Meanwhile, Ocasek secretly cut Porizkova out of his will before his death, which left the runway star with no choice but to rely on friends for help.

Porizkova then documented her grief journey, even uploading a video of herself crying on the two-year anniversary of Ocasek’s passing.

She told followers at the time, “This is me at my most vulnerable. My most naked.”

Porizkova has also brought fans along for her search in love.

She was briefly linked to Aaron Sorkin in 2021 before opening up on the lack of available single men in 2023.

“I’m not kidding, 75 percent of the men that I’ve come on a date with when I ask them what went wrong in their last relationship, they will tell me that their wives had a borderline disorder,” Porizkova criticized to Page Six.

However, soon after, the actress found her other half in Greenstein, and the pair went public with their romance in May 2023.

Meanwhile, just days before their Italian nuptials, Porizkova revealed that she was getting evicted from her New York City digs. Despite having lived in her Manhattan apartment since 2021, her landlord chose not extend her lease.

Porizkova shared on her and Greenstein’s “Twenty Good Summers” podcast, that she “begged and pleaded” with her landlord to no avail.

“And so we have to move out of here four days before we get married in Italy. Not great,” she added. “We are both over 60, and we are starting again.”

Luckily the newlyweds own other homes.

“We’re very privileged souls,” Porizkova gushed. “I do have a country house that I co-own with my sons [Jonathan and Oliver]. And so we can move up there, which is kind of further away from New York City.”

Another option is her husband’s Los Angeles pad, which the pair is in the “process of selling.”

“But for the time being,” Porizkova said, “we can go there.”

DCLM Daily Manna 11 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Treasure through Obedience

TOPIC: Treasure through Obedience (DCLM Daily Manna 11 July 2026)

KEY VERSE: And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped – Exodus 4:31

TEXT: Exodus 4:24-31 (KJV)

24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him.

25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.

27 And the Lord said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.

28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.

29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:

30 And Aaron spake all the words which the Lord had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

In our interconnected world, the call to align with divine purpose resonates deeply within the human spirit. Across diverse cultures and backgrounds, the universal principle remains: true fulfilment emerges from wholehearted obedience to a higher calling. This timeless truth transcends boundaries, inviting each of us to reflect on our commitment to the paths laid before us by the divine.

In the biblical narrative, we find a pivotal moment in Moses’ life. After being commissioned by God to lead the Israelites out of bondage, Moses faced a life-threatening situation due to his neglect in circumcising his son—a critical sign of God’s covenant with Abraham. It was through the decisive intervention of his wife, Zipporah, that Moses’ life was spared, underscoring the profound importance of adhering to divine instructions.

God’s favour is intricately linked to our obedience. Moses, despite his unique calling, could not bypass the foundational requirements of the covenant. This serves as a reminder that aspiring to fulfil divine purposes necessitates unwavering commitment to principles of holiness and obedience.

Zipporah’s swift and discerning action emphasises the vital role of spiritual awareness within the family unit. Her recognition of the gravity of the situation and prompt response after her initial resistance realigned their household with God’s directives. This narrative challenges us to evaluate our own lives and families. Are we attuned to areas requiring spiritual correction? Are we proactive in upholding the covenants we have established with God?

Following this act of obedience, Moses and Aaron came together, demonstrating unity in their mission. They performed the signs God provided, leading the Israelites to believe and respond with worship. This sequence of events illustrates that walking in obedience not only safeguards us but also paves the way for divine manifestations and breakthroughs. When we align our actions with God’s will, we create an environment where faith flourishes and God’s power is revealed.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
No position is a substitute to obedience, tweak it as you may.

California Beach Cleanup Turns Tragic as Man Loses Hand to Explosive Device

0

A man’s hand was severed when an explosive device unexpectedly detonated as he was clearing away fireworks remnants from a Northern California beach following the Fourth of July celebrations.

On Sunday, Jason Turner and his companion, Pamala, strolled along Point St. George Beach in Del Norte County with the goal of picking up trash, as detailed in a GoFundMe page created by his daughter Ashley Turner.

The online fundraiser describes how Turner came into contact with what appeared to be a “bomb-like device,” which detonated without warning.

Pamala recounted to CBS News Sacramento how she improvised a tourniquet using her shirt to control Turner’s bleeding until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.

The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on social media that their deputies responded to reports of an explosion at the beach. When they arrived, they found Turner in the parking lot with a “significant injury to his hand.”

Ashley Turner said her father had to have his hand amputated and is waiting to undergo more surgeries. He is also dealing with vision and hearing loss as a result of the explosion, according to the GoFundMe.

“My dad will be going into additional surgeries for his eyes. He has metal fragments stuck in his eyes,” Ashley Turner wrote in a Wednesday update. “His right ear drum is blown and he has no hearing out of it.”

The fundraiser also explained that Turner is the sole provider for his family of seven, and two of his children are still in school.

As of Friday afternoon, nearly $100,000 has been raised to help with Turner’s ongoing medical costs. His daughter said his injuries may be permanent.

The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office searched the beach and launched an investigation into what caused the explosion.

NYC Cracks Down on Hidden Charges as Mamdani Challenges Unseen Business Practices

0

New York City is stepping up the fight against hidden fees by introducing the country’s inaugural Click-to-Cancel rule. This groundbreaking measure simplifies the process of canceling elusive subscriptions, ranging from gym memberships to digital streaming platforms.

According to city officials, this new regulation is poised to help residents save an impressive $162.5 million annually, easing the financial burden on those with tight budgets.

Starting October 1, businesses that fail to comply with this rule will face penalties, with a $525 fine imposed for each infraction.

To provide clarity on the new mandate, the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) has published an informative video explaining its implementation.

This initiative was unveiled on July 10 at Manhattan’s Asser Levy Recreational Center. Notable figures included Mayor Zohran Mamdani, DCWP Commissioner Samuel A.A. Levine, Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su, Senator Kristen Gonzalez, and former U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Commissioner Lina Khan, who delivered remarks on the occasion.

“Right now, companies make it easy to sign up for things and hard to cancel them,”  Su said in her opening remarks. “They advertise one price and charge you another.”

When Mayor Mamdani stepped up to speak, he compared the increase in hidden recurring fees and the difficulty New Yorkers often face when trying to cancel them to a line in Adam Sandler’s 2006 comedy “Click.”

“Christopher Walken, in his role as Morty (the Angel of Death) begs us to ‘Consider the leprechaun,’” Mamdani stated. “‘He’s always chasing the pot of gold,’ Walken says. ‘But when he gets there, at the end of the day, it’s just cornflakes.’ Whether it’s an internet provider or a commercial gym, too many in our city have made and developed the bad habit of disguising cornflakes as gold.”

“New Yorkers reckon with (this) as almost every part of the customer experience when they are not told how much something truly costs, and when they get a mess of hidden fees that they never signed up for, cannot cancel, cannot afford,” he continued, emphasizing that the costs from hidden fees by airlines, credit card companies, hotel bookings and streaming services “add up.”

Per Consumer Reports, these sneaky fees cost the average family of four approximately $3,200 every year.

But wait, there’s potentially more — the Mamdani administration also proposed an adjacent act that would require fully transparent, all-in pricing on a slew of different services. A public comment period and public hearing on the additional rule will take place on Aug. 7.

“The Mamdani Administration is shutting the door on the era of fleecing New Yorkers with junk fees and subscription traps,” said Commissioner Levine.

“These two rules will ensure that the price you see is the price you pay—no hidden charges, no endless subscription services and no advantages for businesses that cheat. Requiring companies to compete on price will lower costs for all New Yorkers and level the playing field for honest businesses.”

Mother Found Guilty Again in Child Homicide Case

In a grim recurrence of tragedy, a 41-year-old mother from Ohio is set to return to prison. Krystal D. Krause has admitted her involvement in the death of her second child, over a decade after she was incarcerated for a similar incident with her first child.

Appearing in Lake County Court on Thursday, Krause pled guilty to charges of reckless homicide and child endangerment concerning the 2023 death of her 2-month-old son, referred to in court as “DK,” as revealed in court documents.

This plea marks Krause’s second conviction following an earlier incident in 2009 when her 3-year-old son tragically drowned.

During the recent court proceedings, prosecutors disclosed new details about DK’s tragic demise. According to reports by CBS affiliate WOIO, DK suffocated after being placed in an unsafe sleeping environment, despite repeated warnings from doctors and caregivers about appropriate practices for infant sleep. This revelation was made public for the first time during the hearing.

A recently unsealed indictment alleged Krause, acting as the child’s parent, “recklessly” created a “substantial risk” to the infant’s health and safety by violating her duty of care and ultimately causing his death.

Officers with the Wickliffe Police Department on Nov. 15, 2023, responded to the family’s home on Ridge Road after receiving a report of an unresponsive infant, Cleveland NBC affiliate WKYC reported. First responders found the 2-month-old boy face down atop Krause’s bed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After an investigation, the case was presented to a Lake County grand jury, which returned the indictment in April, court records show.

The guilty plea marks the second time Krause has been convicted in the death of one of her children.

Court records show Krause was indicted in Summit County in 2009 on charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangering following the death of her 3-year-old son.

According to WKYC’s reporting on that earlier case, investigators said the boy drowned after wandering outside and falling into a swimming pool while Krause was inside the home. She told police she had gone to the bathroom for about 10 minutes while the child was playing in the living room before discovering what had happened.

Under a plea agreement, the involuntary manslaughter charge was reduced to reckless homicide, and she pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and child endangering before receiving a two-year prison sentence.

Records show Krause was arrested April 9 in the current case after the grand jury returned the indictment two days earlier. She initially pleaded not guilty before changing her plea Thursday. She is represented by the Lake County Public Defender’s Office.

Krause is scheduled to appear for her sentencing hearing on Aug. 13, according to court records. Court records indicate she is facing between 18 months and six years in prison along with a fine of up to $20,000.
