Heroic Rescue: Firefighters and Police Save Trapped Woman from Sewage Ravine in Sweltering 104°F Heat

0

In Texas, a heroic rescue mission unfolded, saving a young woman who had been trapped for several days in a steep ravine.

The incident began around 5:25 p.m. on June 28 when a young man, passing by a wooded area behind a local high school, heard faint cries for help.

Driven by curiosity, he tracked the sound and discovered a young woman, stuck for days in deep mud and sewage at the bottom of a ravine.

The Dallas Police Department, alongside Dallas Fire-Rescue, promptly mobilized a rescue operation. Despite battling 104-degree heat and maneuvering through a challenging quarter-mile stretch of rugged terrain, they reached the stranded woman.

Rescuers were able to pull the woman out of the muck and rushed her to a local hospital, where she was treated for severe dehydration, prolonged sun exposure and other injuries.

It is unclear how the woman got stuck.

In a statement Monday, the Dallas Police Department praised the heroic joint effort.

“The well-being of the Dallas community is not something that’s handled by a single agency,” the Dallas Police Department wrote in an X post. “It takes a collaborative effort from multiple teams and organizations working side-by-side to ensure every person’s safety.”

The department extended its sincere thanks to the officers, firefighters and paramedics whose “swift action and joint effort saved a young woman who was in desperate need of help.”

Prince Harry Eager for Reunion with King Amid Buckingham Palace Tensions

0

Despite being informed that he wouldn’t be able to spend the night at Buckingham Palace, Prince Harry remains eager to catch up with King Charles this week.

In the midst of ongoing discussions about security and lodging, Meghan Markle still plans to visit the UK shortly, as a source affiliated with the Invictus Games in Birmingham has revealed.

The couple is also optimistic about potentially bringing their children, Archie and Lilibet, to Britain, as long as they can ensure a secure environment, according to the insider.

It was confirmed by a spokesperson on Monday that the 41-year-old Duke of Sussex has arrived in the UK amidst ongoing tensions.

After a whirlwind of logistical changes over the past ten days, Prince Harry’s visit took an unexpected turn mere hours before his arrival as he was informed he could not stay at Buckingham Palace.

Harry was apparently informed by royal officials on Saturday night. Yet, 36 hours later, his own team announced to the world that he would be staying there.

The Duke had been told he took too long to accept the King’s invitation. In response, Harry’s spokesman went nuclear, issuing a statement accusing the Palace of withdrawing the offer ‘at the last moment’.

But despite the bitter back-and-forth, Harry wants to see his father and is hopeful that his wife and children can join him in Britain when he leaves London for Birmingham later this week.

‘Harry is still keen to see Charles, which he is looking forward to,’ the Mail’s insider said.

Meghan is also still expected at Invictus events in Birmingham, with the Games only a year away on Friday.

The Sussexes have been holidaying in Europe and it is not out of the question that Archie and Lilibet will join them, potentially flying in and out of the UK in 24 hours.

‘They are working on ways that this can happen safely,’ the source said.

Harry had been hoping his wife and children would accompany him to the UK for five days.

His visit coincides with the countdown to his Invictus Games in Birmingham in 2027.

The trip was set to include a visit to King Charles as well as a poignant stop at Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, where Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, is buried.

Archie and Lilibet have not seen their grandfather since their last trip to Britain in June 2022 for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

As exasperation appeared to grow on both sides over the trip, it is understood the duke initially turned down the offer of staying at Buckingham Palace for himself and his family, who are no longer accompanying him to London, on Saturday, before making a U-turn later in the day and asking to stay himself.

The appropriate hospitality and staffing provision was said to be no longer available.

The duke wanted to stay at the Palace for one night, it is understood.

Questions have been raised on the Sussex side as to whether the offer of a bed at a royal residence was ever intended to be available once Harry had accepted it.

Private conversations are said to have taken place between the duke and his father.

A spokesman for the duke said: ‘I am aware of multiple briefings from Buckingham Palace last week suggesting that the duke had not accepted the offer of accommodation at a royal residence.

‘Following RAVEC’s decision not to provide security for his family, the duke spent last week making alternative security arrangements.

‘Once those arrangements were in place, he was able to formally accept the offer of accommodation for himself over the weekend.’

The spokesman added: ‘It is therefore disappointing that the offer has now been withdrawn, with Tuesday’s judgment in the Associated Newspapers Limited case cited as the reason.

‘Buckingham Palace has, however, been aware of that judgment since last Thursday. It is therefore unclear why, having formally accepted the accommodation offer, it has now been withdrawn at the last moment.’

The decision by the Palace was said to have been taken in consultation with the King, with outcome communicated to Harry through the appropriate channels.

Accommodation at a royal residence will be made available to Harry and his family for future visits, it is understood.

At the weekend, it was announced Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet would no longer be joining Harry in London amid concern over their security.

No decision has been made as to whether the family will join the duke for other parts of the UK visit outside of the capital.

Harry had also been hoping to reunite his children with their grandfather the King, who is still undergoing treatment for cancer, for the first time in four years, but it is not clear whether this will go ahead.

It is also not yet known for sure if and when Harry will see his father during his trip. Although both father and son are said to be keen.

The King has a busy run of engagements this week, while Harry is carrying out five days of appearances in London and Birmingham, including marking the one year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games.

The duke had been waiting for a review by the Risk Management Board (RMB), part of the process by which the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) rules on his security requirements, but found out on Friday this has yet to take place.

The Sussex family were not eligible to receive taxpayer-funded protection while in the UK, other than when they were within royal residences.

The duke criticised his father Charles, stepmother the Queen, brother the Prince of Wales and sister-in-law the Princess of Wales in his Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, interviews and his autobiography Spare, after stepping down from the working monarchy six years ago.

Prosecutors call for trial of Tyler Robinson in Charlie Kirk murder case | LIVE Coverage

0

PROVO, Utah — In a Utah courtroom on Monday, prosecutors aimed to demonstrate to a judge that they possess sufficient evidence to proceed with the trial of the suspect accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk, with the intention of pursuing the death penalty.

This marked the first time Kirk’s family, including his widow Erika Kirk and his parents, attended the courtroom proceedings. They were joined by Donald Trump Jr., son of former President Donald Trump. However, the family briefly exited the room when a testifying police officer began describing Kirk’s arrival at the university campus on the day he was killed. They later rejoined the session.

Prosecutors argue Tyler Robinson, who is accused of killing Charlie Kirk, should stand trial.

Spanning five days, this preliminary hearing is anticipated to present the most extensive body of evidence yet in the case against Tyler Robinson, the accused.

Robinson’s parents attended the hearing, sitting a short distance behind the Kirk family as proceedings got underway. The 23-year-old stands accused of aggravated murder, charged with the fatal shooting of Kirk— a well-known conservative figure and ally of former President Trump— at Utah Valley University on September 10. Robinson turned himself in a day following the incident.

Throughout Monday’s session, Robinson remained mostly silent as he sat between his lawyers, occasionally jotting down notes while keeping an attentive eye on the prosecution’s evidence shown on a screen. Dressed in a gray suit, his movements were restricted by shackles securing his wrists to a chain around his waist.

Prosecutors allege he confessed in a note left for his roommate, who was also his romantic partner, that read: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”

Robinson has not yet entered a plea, and his attorneys have not commented on his guilt or innocence. They have, however, sought to get the death penalty taken off the table, so far unsuccessfully.

A low threshold for prosecutors

The proceeding resembles a mini-trial, but prosecutors need only demonstrate that there are reasonable grounds to believe Robinson killed Kirk. The standard is lower than for a trial, where prosecutors must prove guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Prosecutors as a result should have little trouble advancing their case, said Mark Kouris, a former prosecutor and state judge in Salt Lake City.

“Effectively it’s 51% – there’s a 51% chance they did it,” said Kouris, now an adjunct professor at the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law. “This standard is extremely low and the chances of them not getting through it are, quite frankly, almost nothing.”

The prosecution’s first witness, former Utah Valley University police officer Chris Bagley, said he could see the right side of Charlie Kirk’s body as Kirk spoke on campus. Kirk was answering a question when Bagley heard a gunshot.

“I saw him go to the left … I could no longer see the right side of his body,” Bagley said. “Then everybody started getting up and started to run, more of a chaos situation.”

After the shooting, Bagley went to the top of a nearby building where he saw a disturbance in the gravel that looked like a “sniper pad”, where someone might have been laying in a position that would allow them to shoot a weapon.

Defense attorney Kathryn Nester asked Bagley about finding an empty pistol holster on the ground after the crowd fled. Bagley acknowledged he never took custody of the holster and didn’t know if it was fingerprinted.

Roomate’s recorded testimony could be focal point

Prosecutors can use secondhand information, or hearsay, to help present their case. They expect to present between 40 and 50 exhibits during this week’s hearing.

Chief Deputy Utah County Attorney Chad Grunander told state District Judge Tony Graf that the exhibits will include several videos of the Sept. 10 shooting, which occurred as Kirk was addressing a crowd of thousands at Utah Valley University. The videos will be shown on a courtroom monitor that is being set up so that it won’t be captured by the press videographer in the courtroom, said Graf.

Prosecutors have said they plan to present DNA evidence linking Robinson to the suspected murder weapon, autopsy findings, witness statements and video of Kirk’s killing. They are also expected to argue the shooting endangered others at Kirk’s campus event – an aggravating circumstance that could make the crime punishable by death under Utah law.

Once the hearing is finished, Graf must determine whether there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

Robinson’s roommate is not expected to testify in person during the hearing. Still, the roommate’s recorded testimony could be a focal point for prosecutors.

In addition to the alleged confession note, Robinson reportedly texted his roommate that he targeted Kirk because he “had enough of his hatred,” prosecutors have said.

Erika Kirk says court proceedings are a ‘painful reminder’

Before his death, Kirk and the organization he co-founded, Turning Point USA, galvanized the conservative youth vote to help Trump win a second term.

The Republican president has said he hopes Robinson receives the death penalty.

Erika Kirk said during his memorial service that she forgives Robinson.

Ahead of Monday’s hearing, she thanked supporters in a statement posted to X for their kindness and prayers.

“Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death,” she wrote, “and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children.”

She added that the public outpouring “has sustained us during the darkest days of our lives.”

Chicago Holiday Weekend Violence: Officers Injured in Traffic Stop Shootout Amid 3 Fatalities, 16 Injuries

0

The Fourth of July weekend was particularly tumultuous, with two Chicago police officers shot during a confrontation with an armed suspect. In addition to this altercation, sporadic shootings throughout the city claimed three lives and wounded at least 16 people, as per early police reports.

The Chicago Police Department has identified 34-year-old Malik Wrightsell as a key figure in one of these violent incidents. Charged with attempted first-degree murder among multiple other offenses, Wrightsell faces accusations of aggravated battery and assault of a peace officer, in addition to unlawful firearm possession, marking him a repeat felony offender.

The events unfolded as police conducted a routine traffic stop in the South Chicago neighborhood on Friday, just before 5 p.m. According to police, Wrightsell fled on foot, leading officers on a pursuit to the 7900 block of South Chappel Avenue. It was there he allegedly resisted arrest, escalating the situation to a violent confrontation.

During the struggle, police said Wrightsell pulled out a handgun and fired, striking one officer in the abdomen. The officer’s ballistic vest stopped the bullet before returning fire and striking Wrightsell.

A second officer also was shot in the arm during the confrontation, with that officer’s ballistic vest also stopping the bullet. Responding officers rendered aid to both officers and Wrightsell before all three were transported to area hospitals. Police also recovered a firearm at the scene.

Both officers were listed in good condition. Wrightsell was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

The shooting was one of 11 shooting incidents recorded across Chicago between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, preliminary Chicago Police Department figures provided to News Media show. The incidents left 16 people shot and three people dead.

Citing Chicago police, FOX 32 Chicago reported that six people between the ages of 17 and 20 were wounded in a mass shooting on the city’s West Side early Sunday.

About 10 minutes earlier, a 17-year-old girl was critically wounded in a separate shooting nearby. The station also reported that a 33-year-old man was fatally shot on the West Side, while a 31-year-old man was critically wounded after being found shot inside a home Sunday afternoon.

Several other shootings and stabbings were reported across the city over the holiday weekend.

The preliminary figures marked a sharp decline from the Fourth of July holiday weekend in 2025, when Chicago recorded 32 shootings involving 44 victims, including nine fatalities, FOX 32 Chicago reported.

Tyler Robinson Spotted Laughing During Court Appearance in Charlie Kirk Murder Case

0

Tyler Robinson, charged with the murder of Charlie Kirk, displayed a chilling demeanor in court, laughing as Erika, Kirk’s grieving widow, broke down in tears merely a few feet from him.

Dressed in somber black attire, Erika Kirk confronted the man accused of her husband’s murder during his first court appearance Monday morning, where a Utah judge commenced a pivotal five-day preliminary hearing.

Emotions were already running high as Erika was seen in tears even before the proceedings began, according to reports from the Daily Mail’s correspondent present in the court.

Providing support alongside her were her in-laws, Robert and Kathryn Kirk, who are seldom seen in the public eye.

The court session also witnessed the presence of Donald Trump Jr, accompanied by his wife, Bettina Anderson Trump, offering their support to Erika and taking seats in the front row.

Robinson, however, is said to have been laughing with his attorney Kathy Nester ahead of the proceeding, which will determine if he has to stand trial for Kirk’s murder.

The 23-year-old is charged with aggravated murder in the September 10 assassination of Kirk, who was shot dead while addressing a crowd of thousands during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.

The accused killer turned himself in after the shooting and prosecutors allege that he also sent a text message confession to his transgender partner.

He has not entered a plea in the case and attorneys have not commented on his guilt or innocence. The defense has sought to get the death penalty taken off the table.

Kirk’s parents and his widow all left the courtroom shortly after Utah Valley University police officer Chris Bagley began testifying about the moments the Turning Point USA founder was shot.

Bagley said he could see Kirk’s right side as he spoke on the college campus on September 10 last year.

Kirk was in the middle of answering a question when the officer heard a gunshot ring out. He saw people fleeing the area before police confirmed that they had had a suspect in custody over the radio.

Bagley began assessing the crowd for injuries as he worked to ‘preserve the crime scene.’

The officer told the court that there was a clear ‘line of sight’ from where Kirk was sat to the top of the Losee Center, where Robinson allegedly fired his rifle.

Kathryn Kirk, clutching a pocket-sized packet of tissues, listened to the testimony with her head bowed and eyes closed.

Erika leaned her head on a friend for comfort as the testimony was delivered. She wiped away her tears with a handkerchief.

Robinson looked at the exhibits on the monitor and took notes.

The Kirks plan to attend the entire weeklong pretrial hearing for Robinson.

Ahead of the hearing, the family released a statement saying his death ‘irrevocably impacted our lives.’

‘Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death, and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children,’ Erika said in the statement shared on X.

This week’s hearing marks the most significant presentation of evidence in Robinson’s case so far.

After the hearing concludes, state District Judge Tony Graf must determine if the case should proceed.

The judge previously denied a defense request to take the death penalty off the table after he held a prosecutor in contempt.

A death sentence is an option in Utah only when a crime has aggravating circumstances.

Prosecutors will argue in Robinson’s case that Kirk’s shooting endangered others in attendance.

Prosecutors have said they also plan to present DNA evidence linking Robinson to the suspected murder weapon, autopsy findings and witness statements.

Robinson’s roommate and romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, is not expected to testify in person during the hearing.

But Twiggs will deliver a pre-recorded statement at the proceeding.

Twiggs, 22, who is transgender and goes by the name ‘Luna,’ was living with Robinson during the time of the alleged murder.

After Robinson turned himself in to authorities, federal investigators learned that he sent Twiggs a flurry of text messages during his 33 hours on the run, disclosing his alleged involvement in the shooting and his efforts to evade capture.

Six Efficient Exercises to Strengthen Your Core Faster Than Yoga After 60

Eliminating excess abdominal fat plays a vital role in safeguarding your overall health and enhancing your well-being.

>

As people advance in age, there’s a natural tendency to lose muscle unless proactive measures are taken to prevent it. This muscle loss affects not just weight but also how the body is composed, leading to observable shifts over time. A common change is the accumulation of belly fat, which must be addressed for maintaining long-term health.

“The appearance of a belly overhang is more frequent after age 60 due to a mix of hormonal shifts, muscular changes, and aging,” clarifies

Nicolle Lopez-Lamberty, a Certified Pilates Instructor and the Founder & CEO of NuPilates. “In women, testosterone reduction starts in their 30s, resulting in diminished muscle strength and mass. Post-menopause, a drop in estrogen causes fat to accumulate around the abdomen rather than the hips and thighs. Simultaneously, the natural decline in muscle mass slows down metabolism, weakening the core’s support.”

The presence of an apron belly, also known as a panniculus, is linked to serious health risks such as cardiovascular issues, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, excess abdominal fat can lead to increased stress on the lower back.

“Questions around core strength and abdominal support come up almost every day with my clients, particularly those who have had children or are entering midlife,” explains Lizzie Gunderson, the Founder of LIZZIEVSTHEWORLD, a Pilates coaching business that helps women move better and feel stronger. Gunderson is certified in Balanced Body 1, 2 & 3 Mat Pilates, and she coaches out of Bloomington, IN and Indianapolis, IN.

“My approach is always about building real strength rather than chasing quick fixes or ‘flat stomach’ promises. When the deep core is working well, posture improves, movement feels easier and the whole midsection has better support,” Gunderson adds.

We’re here to share six daily exercises you can add to your routine that can help firm belly overhang faster than yoga after 60.

Heel Slides

“This is one of my favorites because it teaches the deep core to stay engaged while the legs move. It’s gentle, accessible and builds the kind of stability that carries over into everyday life,” Gunderson says.

  1. Start by lying flat on your back with your legs on the mattress.
  2. Place your arms at your sides and gently press your lower back into the mattress.
  3. Slide one heel back toward your hips before lengthening it back out.

5 Core Moves That Burn Belly Fat Faster Than Crunches

Glute Bridges

“Strong glutes take pressure off the lower back and help improve pelvic alignment. A lot of people think of core training as just ab exercises, but your hips and glutes play a huge role in supporting the midsection,” Gunderson tells us.

  1. Begin by lying flat on your back with bent knees and feet hip-width apart on the mattress, arms at your sides with palms pressing into the surface.
  2. Press through your heels to lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from head to heels.
  3. Squeeze your buttocks, holding at the top for a moment.
  4. Lower your hips back to the start position.

Bird-Dog

“This movement challenges balance, coordination and core control all at once. It strengthens the muscles that stabilize the spine without putting unnecessary strain on the back,” Gunderson points out.

  1. Start on all fours.
  2. Extend your left arm and right leg.
  3. Hold for a moment before returning to the start position.
  4. Switch sides and continue to alternate.

8 Bodyweight Moves That Burn Belly Fat Faster Than HIIT After 45

Side Plank

“The side body is often overlooked. Side planks strengthen the obliques and deep stabilisers, which are essential for posture, balance and everyday movement,” Gunderson says.

  1. Begin by lying on your side and placing your elbow below your shoulder.
  2. Your feet should be stacked.
  3. Lift your hips off the floor so that your body forms a straight line from your head to your feet.
  4. Hold for the prescribed amount of time.

Pilates Criss Cross

  1. Begin by lying flat on your back with your hands behind your head and knees bent.
  2. Lift your head, neck, and shoulders off the mattress.
  3. Lengthen your right leg out at a 45-degree angle while twisting to bring your right elbow to meet the opposite knee.
  4. Then, extend your left leg, twisting your torso to bring your left elbow to meet your right knee.
  5. Continue to alternate with control.

Double-Leg Stretch

As you age, it’s natural to lose muscle mass unless you take the necessary steps to preserve it. That said, even those who eat a nutritious diet and remain active may notice changes as time passes because aging impacts body composition—not just your weight. One common change is belly fat—and it’s crucial to address for your long-term health and well-being.

“Belly overhang becomes more common after 60 because of a combination of hormonal, muscular and age-related changes not simply because of weight gain,” explains

Nicolle Lopez- Lamberty, Certified Pilates Instructor and Founder & CEO of NuPilates. “In women, testosterone levels begin to decline in their 30s leading to decreased muscle strength and muscle mass. After menopause, estrogen levels decrease causing the body to store more fat around the abdomen rather than the hips and thighs. At the same time, women naturally lose muscle mass which slows metabolism and reduces the body’s ability to support the core.”

An apron belly—or panniculus—is associated with serious health concerns like cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 diabetes. Carrying around excess belly fat can also place strain on your lower back.

Judge Denies Elon Musk’s Request to Dismiss Twitter Fraud Verdict

On Monday, a federal judge dismissed Elon Musk’s efforts to overturn a jury verdict that concluded he had defrauded investors during his acquisition of Twitter. Despite the findings, Musk was not held accountable for one of the disputed tweets.

US District Judge Charles Breyer, presiding in San Francisco, also rejected Musk’s attempt to dissolve the class of investors and approved their request for prejudgment interest.

Musk’s legal representatives have yet to respond to requests for comment.

The verdict on March 20 determined that Musk attempted to lower Twitter’s stock value to either renegotiate the terms of his expansive $44 billion acquisition deal in 2022 or withdraw from it entirely.

Jurors determined Musk was responsible for tweets from May 13 and May 17, 2022, where he cast doubt on the number of fake and spam accounts, often referred to as bots, on Twitter.

Breyer found “substantial evidence of falsity” in the May 13 tweet, which caused Twitter’s stock price to fall significantly, but said a lack of market reaction to the May 17 tweet meant Musk was not liable for it.

A lawyer for the plaintiffs had estimated in March following the verdict that damages could total about $2.5 billion.

ICE Launches Nationwide Holiday Operation Arresting Illegal Immigrants, Murder Suspects, and Pedophiles

0

As the nation paused to celebrate Independence Day, federal immigration authorities were engaged in a significant sweep, apprehending illegal immigrants nationwide. Those taken into custody included individuals with past convictions for heinous crimes such as murder, burglary, and child sex offenses.

These arrests unfolded against the backdrop of celebrations for America’s 250th anniversary, as announced by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Monday.

DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis shed light on the operation’s magnitude: “While Americans were celebrating the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation on Earth, the fearless men and women of ICE were apprehending some of the most dangerous individuals, including several murderers, pedophiles, rapists, kidnappers, drunk drivers, and drug traffickers. Our law enforcement officers work tirelessly, even during holidays, to enhance the safety of our communities.”

Bis noted that under President Donald Trump, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has hired 12,000 new officers and agents in less than a year, more than doubling the agency’s workforce.

“Thanks to President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, we have an additional 12,000 ICE officers who will continue delivering on the American people’s mandate to make our nation SAFE AGAIN,” she said.

Those arrested over the weekend included Radimir Thompson-Nagle, a Panamanian citizen with criminal convictions for murder and assault in Brooklyn, New York, ICE said.

Marcos Rubio-Hernandez, a Mexican citizen, was previously convicted of second-degree murder and kidnapping in Wilson County, North Carolina. Roberto Gutierrez-Diaz, also from Mexico, has convictions for sodomy (victim less than 12 years old), sexual abuse (victim less than 12 years old), attempted rape (domestic violence), and burglary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Francisco Olmedo-Silva, from Mexico, has convictions spanning Oregon, Wyoming, and Pennsylvania for possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and heroin, conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin, escaping from custody and robbery.

Pedro Mazorra-Herrera, from Cuba, was convicted of aggravated stalking, resisting an officer with violence, burglary with assault or battery and cocaine possession in Miami, Florida.

Monday’s announcement came as the Trump administration continues its deportation campaign targeting criminal illegal immigrants and pushing back on sanctuary jurisdictions.

“Sanctuary city politicians who put illegal alien criminals over their own citizens are a national security threat,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin posted Monday on X. “Seven of the 10 safest cities in America cooperate with @ICEgov. Meanwhile, @GovernorVA has created a hotbed of illegal alien criminal activity in her own backyard.”

Mullin’s remarks came in response to a News Media story stating that Fairfax County, Virginia, has refused to transfer 615 illegal immigrants to ICE over the past 16 months while turning over just 11. The county designated itself a sanctuary jurisdiction in 2021.

Bill Maher Criticizes Leading Democrats for Dodging His Show Invitations

Comedian and talk show host Bill Maher has claimed that New York politicians Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zohran Mamdani have chosen not to appear on his HBO show, Real Time.

Maher, 70, made the claim on X over the weekend, while sharing footage of his Friday interview with JD Vance.

In a social media post accompanying a video, Maher expressed his desire to feature @AOC and @ZohranKMamdani as guests, lamenting, ‘I would love to have them on the show, but I can’t subpoena the guests.’

The clip also spotlighted Maher applauding Republican figures like Vance for joining his panel discussions and ‘handling the criticism bravely.’

Maher expressed his frustration, saying, ‘The ones who get my vote are the ones avoiding me. Isn’t that strange?’

In agreement, the vice president mentioned Darializa Avila Chevalier, a progressive congressional candidate in New York’s 13th district, questioning with sarcasm if ‘she’ll make it to the show.’

‘No!’ Maher answered, before rattling off several other names. ‘I can’t get AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez]. I can’t get [Zohran] Mamdani. I couldn’t get Kamala Harris.’

‘It took me eight years to get [Barack] Obama,’ he admitted.

Obama appeared on Real Time with Bill Maher back on November 4, 2016, just days before Donald Trump was elected.

‘Anyway, let’s not talk about my problems,’ Maher told Vance, to a wave of laughter from the audience.

The host then joked that the spot would be kinder to the conservative ‘than the Iranians’ – a nod to the latter’s claim that a recent View appearance showed his ability to handle the ‘high-stakes negotiations’ needed to end the war on June 18.

Maher, a longtime Democrat, warned that he was losing faith in the party due to Democratic socialist policies from people like Mamdani, Ocasio-Cortez, and Avila Chevalier.

‘Like, if this is where the Democratic Party is going… this obsession with Israel, with the Jew-hating – they don’t believe in capitalism, no prisons.

‘If this is where they’re going, my vote is in play,’ Maher said.

He told Vance he has no problem voting against party lines if it means achieving what’s best for the country.

‘I’m just glad you’re talking to me, you know?’ he told the vice president, weeks after using a portion of his program to address a jab from Trump about his ratings.

‘Every year, I don’t make my decision by who has an R or a D, I actually always came to the conclusion that the Democrat was probably better and voted for them,’ Maher said on Friday.

It was recently revealed the host sat with Trump for dinner at the White House in March of last year. The dinner was made public by a February 2026 Truth Social post by the president.

It accused Maher – who has soured on Democrats for more than a year now – for having ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’

‘He is no different than Kimmel, Fallon, or Colbert but, I must admit, slightly more talented!’ Trump wrote at the time, saying Real Time had at some stage ‘devolve[d] into the same old story – Very boring, ANTI TRUMP.’

‘Regardless, I’d much rather spend my time MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN than wasting it on him,’ Trump wrote at the time.

‘Bill continues to suffer from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS!), and there is nothing that will ever be done to cure him of this very serious disease.’

Maher responded during a March edition of Real Time, accusing the president of ‘suffer[ing] from Bill Maher Derangement Syndrome.’

‘I will not consider the dinner “a waste of time,” even as I now see we’re back to name calling and that I have some new ones like, “highly overrated lightweight” to add to the list you signed,’ Maher said on-air.

Maher, a longtime Democrat, has lost faith in the party due to Democratic socialist policies from people like Mamdani, Ocasio-Cortez, and Bernie Sanders, he's previously said. Unlike the other two, Vermont's Sanders has appeared on Real Time several times

He added of the dinner: ‘I was having a good time. So were you, Don, because we were talking like real humans, not like that crazy act you put on in public.’

On June 19’s episode, Maher mocked Trump’s 14-point Iran deal. Maher joked that he hoped the US played Iran in the World Cup to ‘beat them at something.’

Maher voted for Harris in 2024, he confirmed in a May edition of his Club Random podcast. He told rapper Will.i.am that ‘ironically’, it was ‘mostly Democrats’ who refused to ‘come on the show.’

‘Like, because they’re such p*****s,’ he said at the time. ‘Democrats are p*****s about going anywhere that they’re not already pre-adored.

‘Not all of them, but I mean, somebody…Kamala Harris, I mean, like I always say to my woke friends, we voted for the same person.

‘You’re just why she lost.’

The Daily Mail has approached both Mayor Mamdani and Representative Ocasio-Cortez’s offices for comment.
