Israel Issues Stark Warning: Iranian Leaders Threatening Its Existence Face Elimination

0

On Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stark warning aimed at Iran’s leadership. He declared that any Iranian official who fosters ambitions to annihilate Israel will meet the same fate as Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose funeral was underway in Tehran.

In a Hebrew-language communiqué, Katz detailed that Ayatollah Khamenei was targeted by Israel due to his pivotal role in orchestrating a strategy to obliterate Israel, both within Iran and across its neighboring regions.

Katz emphasized, “The destroyer has been destroyed.” He firmly stated that any future attempts by Iranian leaders to renew plans for Israel’s destruction would be met with the same decisive action.

He also pointed to the funeral chants of “Death to Trump” as indicative of the regime’s genuine nature, which he argued contrasts sharply with its public façade of diplomatic friendliness and deceit.

Katz praised the robust actions taken against Iran, guided by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump, asserting that these measures have neutralized immediate existential threats to Israel and substantially weakened Iran’s strategic position. He reiterated Israel’s readiness to defend itself independently whenever necessary and against any form of threat.

A funeral procession for Khamenei kicked off the fourth day of week-long burial ceremonies on Monday morning.

Khamenei’s remains are set to be taken through the streets of Tehran on their way to Mehrabad International Airport in the western part of the capital.

The funeral cortege will last some 10 to 12 hours, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Brig. Gen. Hassan Hassanzadeh, who is overseeing the event, told state media.

Hassanzadeh said preparations for the procession began at 4 a.m. local time and that the procession would move from east to west.

Regime supporters lined the streets of Tehran early Monday, many carrying red flags symbolizing revenge, the IRGC-linked Fars News Agency reported.

Khamenei’s funeral ceremonies have been marked by repeated calls from Iranian officials, state media and regime supporters for the deaths of President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Brig. Gen. Mohammad Akraminia, spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, said on Monday that Tehran had used the ceasefire with the United States to rebuild its military capabilities, according to Iran International.

“We are fully prepared and have used the ceasefire opportunity to improve our combat capability,” he said, warning that any attack on Iran would be met with a response “more crushing and more regret-inducing than before.”

The funeral ceremonies are scheduled to run through Thursday, when Khamenei is to be buried at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad.

Mojtaba Khamenei, who was appointed as the Islamic Republic’s third supreme leader following his father’s death, had not been seen at the ceremonies.

Three of Ali Khamenei’s other sons — Mostafa, Masoud and Meysam Hosseini Khamenei — appeared in public on Sunday for the first time since the war began on Feb. 28, offering prayers over their father’s body at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla of Tehran mosque, Iran International reported.

The New York Times, citing two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a source involved in planning the funeral, reported that Mojtaba Khamenei told officials he wants to attend the burial ceremony in Mashhad and lead the traditional prayer for the dead.

The newspaper cited the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the funeral preparations, as saying security officials had rejected the proposal over concerns Israel could attempt to assassinate the supreme leader at the ceremony or use it to track his whereabouts.

The younger Khamenei was injured in the airstrike that killed his father.

While it is generally believed that Mojtaba is still alive, he has not appeared in public since the start of the war, and no images or audio recordings of him have been released.

Trump’s Subtle Strategy: The Untold Story of How He Freed a Chinese Pastor from Persecution

0

Pastor Ezra Jin Mingri’s recent release from detention in China signifies a significant turning point in the ongoing battle for fundamental rights under the Chinese government. Jin, the founder of the well-known Zion Church in Beijing, was held for nearly nine months following a stringent crackdown on unregistered Christian groups last October.

His arrival in the United States during the July 4th Independence Day weekend, just a short time after President Trump directly discussed his case with Xi Jinping during talks in Beijing, highlights an effective strategy focused on achieving tangible outcomes to promote American interests and values internationally. For someone escaping the constraints of a repressive regime, stepping foot in the U.S. on a day symbolic of liberty sharply contrasts the ideas of freedom and oppression.

This conclusion didn’t stem from mere diplomatic pleasantries. It was Trump’s initiative in May to bring Jin’s situation to Xi’s attention, prompting what the Chinese leader referred to as serious consideration.

The sequence of events speaks volumes: a prominent prisoner of conscience is released shortly after high-level personal engagement. This reflects a strategy that values concrete results over prolonged discussions in multilateral settings or public reprimands. When dealing with a regime that respects strength, a straightforward approach proves influential.

BREAKING: Pastor Ezra Jin has been RELEASED from Chinese prison and reunited with his family in America after being detained and imprisoned by Chinese police for over 260 days.

What excellent news, coinciding with the momentous 250th anniversary of America!

Congratulations to Ezra, Grace, and the rest of their family, and a huge kudos to the diplomats and everyone else that made this happen.

China’s approach to faith reveals deeper tensions:

  • Enforced Atheism: The ruling Communist Party remains officially atheist and demands total loyalty.
  • “Sinicization” of Religion: Party members cannot hold religious beliefs, and the state insists on reshaping all faiths to align with its ideology and Han cultural norms.
  • Targeting Underground Churches: Independent worship falls outside approved channels, viewed as a potential challenge to authority. Underground churches like Zion, which grew to serve hundreds before facing closure, operate in this gray zone at considerable risk. Jin’s arrest formed part of broader efforts to curb groups that gather without official oversight.

The pattern extends beyond Christians. Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang have faced systematic pressure, including mass detentions in re-education facilities, heavy surveillance, restrictions on religious practice, and policies aimed at assimilation. Reports document family separations, cultural erosion, and labor programs that have drawn international scrutiny for years.

Beijing frames these as counter-terrorism and development measures, yet the scale and methods highlight a consistent priority: subordinating individual belief and ethnic identity to state control. Religion, in any form that fosters independent thought or community outside Party lines, receives little tolerance.

Such realities make Jin’s release noteworthy, even if partial. Several of his church associates remain in custody, and countless others across faiths endure similar fates. No one should mistake this for a fundamental shift in Beijing’s stance. China continues to prioritize internal stability and ideological conformity over open expression of belief.

Pastor Ezra Jin is free.

We are thrilled that Pastor Ezra Jin has been freed and reunited with his family in the United States. Unjustly imprisoned for practicing his faith in China, Jin is a case our #FreeThemAll program has actively supported.

We will continue our advocacy until all political prisoners are freed.

Gainesville Woman Arrested After Crashing into Patrol Car and Fleeing with Children Inside

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have apprehended Michelle Breann Bartholomew, 26, who now faces charges for reportedly striking a police patrol vehicle with her car, accelerating towards a second patrol vehicle, and fleeing the scene with children in the vehicle.

Around 6:44 a.m. on July 4th, deputies from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office responded to an emergency call. The caller reported a woman in a white car attempting to run over a man at the Tower Oaks Glen Apartments.

Upon arrival, two deputies found Bartholomew in the parking lot, seated in a white sedan. When they parked nearby, Bartholomew allegedly accelerated and collided with the front passenger door of their patrol car. Subsequently, she is accused of driving toward a second patrol car, prompting the deputy to swiftly maneuver out of harm’s way.

A pursuing deputy activated his lights and sirens, initiating a traffic stop, but Bartholomew’s vehicle sped off, reportedly exceeding the speed limit and ignoring several traffic signals. The chase was terminated near NW 8th Avenue and NW 34th Street, with a deputy observing the sedan subsequently turning north onto NW 31st Terrace.

Deputies noted that the sedan was driven by a “heavy build black female,” and two young children were seen in the sedan during the pursuit.

Deputies later found the same woman walking with two children in the 2000 block of NW 34th Street, and she reportedly attempted to jump off a bridge when she saw deputies, but deputies held her back and detained her.

Bartholomew allegedly refused to identify herself.

When deputies located the white sedan, they noted that there were no car seats for the children, who are 5 and 8 years old and “small in stature.”

Bartholomew has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing, and two counts of child abuse without great bodily harm. She has no local criminal history, and Judge Jonathan Ramsey set bail at $100,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Suspect in Fatal Crash Reveals Disturbing Motive for Livestreaming After Incident

A New Jersey resident charged with the murder of two teenage girls reportedly mocked his detractors during a livestream just a day after the tragic incident, flaunting the “engagement” their reactions generated.

The victims, Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, both 17 years old, were riding electric bicycles on September 29, 2025, in Cranford, New Jersey, when Vincent Battiloro, now 18, allegedly drove his vehicle into them deliberately, according to prosecutors. Battiloro was subsequently charged with adult murder on Friday, June 26.

Following the alleged fatal incident, Battiloro appeared on a YouTube gaming livestream, where he brazenly talked about the “engagement” he was receiving from viewers commenting on the incident.

“Engage with me more in the chat, and it boosts my content’s engagement, which translates to YouTube earnings for me. Just so you know, keep it up,” Battiloro stated. “I’m not doing anything until the negativity in the messages subsides,” he added.

After people watching the stream continually commented about the deaths of Niotis and Salas, Battiloro eventually got fed up and briefly addressed the situation.

“There has been a lot of misinformation going on over the internet. But I will say this. I wish my sincerest condolences to those two girls lost in that tragic accident. It is an absolute unfortunate situation. And there’s more to the story that you’re not getting,” Battiloro said. “But when the time comes. I will explain it in greater detail. I’m not authorized to talk about the whole thing.”

Police said Battiloro’s own dash camera showed him getting inside a Jeep Compass on Sept. 29, 2025, and driving to the area of Burnside Avenue in Cranford, near the home of one of the victims. After he parked, according to police, both teen girls were seen on electric bikes headed in the opposite direction.

The suspect then made a U-turn to follow the victims while he accelerated the Jeep, according to detectives, who said that the video shows both girls being struck at a high rate of speed before the vehicle ultimately stopped.

Battiloro then fled the scene by foot, officials said.

Battiloro’s identity was previously withheld because he was a minor when allegedly committing the crimes, but his case was transferred to adult court on Friday, June 26. He is now charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Brent Bramnick, who is representing Niotis’ family, told News Media they are thankful the case was moved to adult court.

“The decision to try the defendant as an adult is a welcomed sliver of justice. We are grateful to the Prosecutor’s Office for their efforts as well as the community at large for continuing to keep Maria and Isabella’s memories alive,” Bramnick said.

Battiloro allegedly swatted the family’s home in Cranford twice in September 2025, according to Bramnick. He said both incidents took place between Sept. 1 and Sept. 15 in 2025.

After the two incidents, Bramnick said the Niotis family wants to know “what went on?”

“What investigation, if any, went on after all that the family reported and all the information that the police had in their possession. That’s the question. So we need those questions answered,” Bramnick said. “And that’s why we’re involved, because we’re doing our own investigations to try to get to the bottom of those questions.”

News Media reached out to Battiloro’s attorney for comment.

Belgium Questions FIFA Ban Decision Allowing US Player Balogun on Field

0

In a surprising twist, the team that stood to benefit the most from U.S. star striker Folarin Balogun’s absence is now expressing frustration that he will, in fact, take the field.

Earlier this week, Balogun secured victory for the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) with a crucial goal against Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, drama ensued when he was controversially handed a red card following a questionable VAR review, later revealed to have been conducted improperly.

We’ll delve into details of the VAR issue shortly.

This red card decision led to Balogun missing the final 26 minutes of the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and sidelined him for the subsequent Round of 16 face-off with Belgium in Seattle, initially scheduled for Monday.

That was until a Sunday afternoon announcement from FIFA altered the course of events. FIFA revealed they had overturned Balogun’s disqualification for the upcoming match, placing him on a one-year probation instead, thereby granting him the opportunity to play against Belgium.

The sudden reversal brought a sharp rebuke from the Royal Belgian Football Federation, which charged FIFA with pulling an “April Fool’s Day” prank.

“The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is astonished by FIFA’s decision to declare suspended United States player Folarin Balogun eligible to play in the USA–Belgium match on Monday, 6 July at 5:00 p.m. (Seattle time).

“FIFA bases its decision on Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the enforcement of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction.

“However, Article 66.4 of the same FIFA Disciplinary Code clearly provides that a red card (sending-off) automatically results in a suspension for the team’s next match, as has been the case for all previous red cards issued during this FIFA World Cup.

“Furthermore, and irrespective of the above, the decision is in direct contradiction with the provisions of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Competition Regulations, as set out in Article 10.5:

“‘If a player or team official is sent off as a result of a direct or indirect red card (second caution), they will automatically be suspended from their team’s subsequent match. In addition, further sanctions may be imposed.’

“The automatic nature of such a suspension was also explicitly reaffirmed in FIFA World Cup 2026 Circular No. 16, which was distributed to all participating member associations on 12 May 2026.

“The same rule is reiterated at every FIFA World Cup 2026 Match Coordination Meeting prior to each match and is included in all FIFA World Cup 2026 workshop presentations.

“In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of all participating teams and to protect the fundamental principles of fair play in our sport, both at this FIFA World Cup and at future editions of the tournament, the RBFA is investigating all potential options.”

While the RBFA investigates its options, there are some holes in its case.

It is true that the rules regarding red cards are supposed to be straightforward, but that’s not actually what’s at issue. The issue is how Brazilian referee Rafael Claus reached the decision to give Balogun a red card.

While the use of VAR is permitted to determine the “intensity of an offense.” The rules dictate that the video review should be played at normal speed. The video Claus reviewed was slow-motion footage. After viewing Balogun’s foul on Muharemović in slow motion, Claus issued the striker a red card, having shown him no card during the actual play.

That is not how VAR is supposed to be used when determining the severity of a penalty.

A healthy argument can, and perhaps should, be made about whether Balogun should have been given a red card. However, it was the process by which Claus determined the severity of the penalty that rendered the red card null and void.

Erika Kirk Confronts Disturbing Evidence in Tyler Robinson Hearing for Charlie’s Murder Case

0

Erika Kirk is preparing to confront difficult evidence this week as the murder trial of her husband, Charlie Kirk, brings her face-to-face with the accused, Tyler Robinson, for a crucial court hearing.

“This week will be challenging for everyone involved,” said a source aware of the circumstances. Friends and family of Charlie Kirk are expected to attend the five-day evidence hearing set to take place in Provo, Utah, where Tyler Robinson will be in court.

“The evidence presented may compel the family to exit the courtroom,” the source added. “That’s entirely their choice, and they will decide how to proceed during the court sessions.”

In Utah, a preliminary hearing allows prosecutors to showcase their evidence against the defendant to help the judge determine if enough probable cause exists to proceed to trial. This hearing takes the place of a grand jury indictment in the state’s legal proceedings.

The hearing, which begins on Monday, is set to include graphic video footage of the public assassination, alongside autopsy evidence, all of which will be presented to Judge Tony Graf for consideration.

It was not immediately clear if the photos of Kirk’s body would be displayed.

Lawyers on both sides have agreed to give warnings to Kirk’s loved ones so they can decide whether to leave the courtroom during those disturbing portions of the proceeding.

Robinson is accused of shooting Kirk, 31, from long range while he was speaking in front of a crowd of thousands at Utah Valley University in Orem on Sept. 10.

The 23-year-old gunman allegedly admitted to the shooting in messages with his trans lover Lance Twiggs, which are expected to be presented at the hearing, according to prosecutors.

Included in the evidence is likely to be a recorded interview that Twiggs underwent.

The 22-year-old former roommate of Robinson’s sat down with prosecutors on April 20 to discuss Robinson.

Twiggs — who was spotted laying low with family in Texas earlier this year — was given limited immunity for that interview.

Robinson could face the death penalty if convicted. He has yet to enter a plea in the case.

Drew Scott’s Emotional Revelation: A Turning Point in the HGTV Star’s Journey

0

Drew Scott, the well-known HGTV personality, has shared an emotional experience that he refers to as a ‘heartbreaking wake-up call.’

At 48, the Property Brothers host took to Instagram to recount a poignant moment with his four-year-old son, Parker, which prompted him to reevaluate his life’s priorities.

In a heartfelt video, Scott began by saying, ‘I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you’re constantly rushing around, as I often do, you might find this story resonates with you.’

He continued, ‘I returned home one day and greeted Parker with, “Hey Parker, give me a hug.” To my surprise, he ran off instead.

‘What he did next was both amusing and eye-opening—he grabbed a toy, held it to his ear, walked around, and said, “I’m on a business call,”‘ shared Scott, who is also the father of two-year-old Piper.

It soon became clear that Parker was mimicking his father’s repeated actions.

Scott shared: ‘It was heartbreaking for me because he just saw me on calls all the time.

‘So that was a wake-up for me to not be on my phone when I’m around the kids.

‘To show them that I’m actually present, I’m listening to their questions, I’m answering, I’m playing with them.’

The TV personality, who presents home renovation shows alongside brother Jonathan Scott, said that he then vowed to change his habits at home.

‘It’s a small thing, but for me to be present there, I can see it in Piper’s face, she gets excited. And for me, it’s heartwarming, and I love it.

‘But if I were just to be in my busy, busy work pace, I would do calls over my lunch and I would skip that.

‘Then all of a sudden I would look back years from now and think I missed these crucial points in my baby’s life.’

Concluding the message to his 2.7 million followers, he poignantly said: ‘It’s going to feel pretty empty at the end of your career or at the end of your life if you look back and all you did was work.

‘And don’t be that person checking your phone when you’re hanging out with family.’

Their wedding was documented in the 2018 TLC special Property Brothers: Linda and Drew Say I Do.

Scott and Phan welcomed their first child – son Parker – in May 2022. Their family grew again with the birth of daughter Piper in May 2024 with both kids welcomed via IVF after battling fertility issues.

Scott’s heartfelt message comes just months after Phan’s mother passed away.

At the time, he took to social media with a touching tribute that read: ‘My heart is broken. We have lost one of the most beautiful, kind and selfless people this planet has ever seen.

‘Linda’s mom is truly one of a kind and was taken from us far too soon.

‘Thank you Habu for bringing so much light to our lives. Your laugh was infectious and I will always remember our late nights playing your favorite game.’

Scott continued: ‘I feel helpless in trying to comfort Linda and her family but know memories of all the beautiful times with Habu will live on with us forever.

‘You were always there for us and all 10 grandkids. The hardest thing for me is to know we won’t have you here to see Parker and Piper grow into strong and compassionate adults like you. I love you. I miss you.’

Australia Condemns China’s Pacific Ballistic Missile Test as Destabilizing

0

Australia and New Zealand are raising concerns following China’s announcement that it has successfully conducted a ballistic missile test from a strategic nuclear submarine in the Pacific Ocean’s international waters.

The Chinese news agency, Xinhua, stated that the missile test was part of China’s routine military exercises, emphasizing that they had previously notified relevant nations as per international law requirements.

According to Xinhua, the launch was described as part of the regular schedule of China’s military training activities and clarified it was not aimed at any specific country or objective.

This development follows a significant defense pact signed earlier in the day between Australia and Fiji, which pledges mutual support if either nation comes under attack.

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong confirmed that China had informed the Australian government about the missile test in advance.

“Australia has been clear with China that we regard this as destabilising to the region,” she told reporters on Monday, moments before the launch was confirmed.

“This proposed test is in the context of a rapid military buildup by China, which is lacking in the transparency and reassurance as to intent that the region expects.”

Wong said the test was “inconsistent” with Pacific leaders’ requests for the ocean to be one “of peace”.

That statement was echoed by New Zealand foreign minister Winston Peters.

“It appears that, despite our long-standing concerns about this type of activity, China carried out the test within hours of informing us,” he said in a statement.

“The Pacific is an Ocean of Peace and we are deeply concerned by China’s testing of nuclear-capable weapons into the South Pacific.”

Japan’s government said it had been notified of the missile launch and urged China to reconsider.

“We expressed our grave concern over the Chinese military’s increased activity,” Tokyo said, adding that Japan’s Coast Guard had been notified on Sunday by Chinese authorities about falling space debris that could fall within Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

Japan’s Kyodo news agency on Monday reported, citing a Japanese government source, that the missile had landed outside Japan’s EEZ.

China’s elite Rocket Force fired a dummy warhead into the sea near French Polynesia in September 2024, its first long-range missile launch over international waters in more than 40 years.

Emily Simpson Opens Up on ‘RHOC’ Fans’ Backlash Over Son’s Diagnosis and Marriage Challenges Before Season 20

Emily Simpson faced harsh criticism from fans after openly discussing her 11-year-old son Luke’s diagnoses of ARFID and PANDAS on The Real Housewives of Orange County. These reactions were spotlighted during the show’s season 20 premiere party this past Tuesday.

RHOC's Emily Simpson on Viewers' "Cruel" Reactions to Her Sharing of Son Luke's Diagnoses, If She Has Regrets, and Therapy With Shane, Plus Marriage "Ups and Downs," Season 20, and Why She Calls Vicki Gunvalson "Victoria"

In discussing whether she regretted her choice to go public, Emily also shed light on why she and her husband, Shane Simpson, aged 51, began therapy. Furthermore, she talked candidly about the “ups and downs” of their marriage, the excitement surrounding the upcoming season 20, and her milestone 50th birthday. She also explained her references to Vicki Gunvalson, 64, as either “Victoria” or “Queen Victoria.”

“On social media, people seemed quite harsh about my decision to share Luke’s story,” Emily mentioned to PEOPLE on June 30. “However, at BravoCon, everyone who approached me was genuinely concerned about my son. They showed a deep interest, often sharing personal anecdotes about their own children, or relatives, wanting to offer advice and support. That positive engagement left a lasting impression on me.”

While also revealing if she regretted the decision, sharing why she and husband Shane Simpson, 51, began therapy, and dishing on the “ups and downs” in their marriage, Emily, 50, looked ahead to the airing of season 20, spoke of her milestone birthday, and explained why she referred to Vicki Gunvalson, 64, as “Victoria” or “Queen Victoria.”

“I would say on social media, I think people were kind of cruel about me sharing about Luke,” Emily admitted to PEOPLE on June 30. “But when I went to BravoCon, every single person that came up to me said, ‘How is your son doing?’ They were very invested, and then they had a story to share about their own child, or a nephew, or a friend’s child. They wanted to talk and share and give me advice. That was my takeaway.”

“There were so many times I thought, am I doing the right thing by being so honest about what we’re going through? … [But] I absolutely did the right thing by sharing about him,” she concluded.

And Emily won’t stop being open about the challenges her family has faced due to Luke’s health crisis.

“After last season, everything going on with my son — [Shane and I’s] roles in our family changed and shifted, and that plays out [on season 20],” she explained. “It’s hard for us to adjust to it, and it’s a marriage. We’ve been together a long time.”

“Shane dedicated himself to being more at home and taking care of the kids and taking on more of a role with the children, and that’s stressful,” she continued. “So I think just the stress of us parenting and being married for so long, it plays out on camera.”

According to Emily, she and Shane have “a real marriage” and don’t “try to play up to the cameras or act differently.”

“I think people get a bird’s-eye view into a real long-term marriage, with all the ups and downs — with the kids, the blended family, the dogs, the animals, the house, everything,” she explained.

Emily also spoke about her marriage to Shane during an interview with Bozoma Saint John, 49, for Extra TV.

“Here’s the thing, I’ve been married to the same man for 17 years,” she said. “We have amazing ups, and we have downs, and we have never altered our behavior on camera. So, you know what? The audience can think what they want, to say what they want, but it is a real marriage.”

“We’re not pretending. We’re not trying to sugarcoat it. We’re not trying to get along because the cameras just got there. We’re like living life and trying to be parents, and trying to navigate marriage, and trying to navigate kids. And I have a son who has lots of issues, and it’s not easy. And so, you know, it is what it is. It’s a real marriage with ups and downs, and all the things,” she went on. “[But] I think at the end of the day, I married my best friend.”

Moving on to RHOC season 20, Emily described it as “old school.”

“I feel like it goes back to like old school ‘Housewives’ — like why ‘Housewives’ was popular in the beginning back [in the] 2006 era with Victoria Gunvalson in her little family van, and fighting over petty things, and crazy women that drink too much but really love each other at the end of the day,” she explained. “That’s what it felt like for me.”

As for why she calls Vicki “Victoria,” Emily said, “I came on season 13 with Victoria, and I feel like she expects and demands respect. So, I was very respectful. So, I always call her Victoria or Queen Victoria. And she deserves it.”

During the interview, Emily also reflected on her 50th birthday.

“I turned 50 right before we started filming, and so my goal was to be in the best shape I’ve ever been in,” she shared.

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 20 premieres on Thursday, July 9, at 8/7c on Bravo.

Forging Unity: How Nonprofits and Brands Tackle Today’s Divisive Climate for America’s 250th

0

NEW YORK (AP) — As the United States gears up for its 250th birthday, a wave of patriotic initiatives is aiming to unite Americans through widespread community service and celebratory branded campaigns. Leading U.S. nonprofits are striving for unprecedented volunteer turnout, while giants like Walmart and Coca-Cola join the festivities with commemorative launches and exclusive merchandise.

However, a rift is apparent with rival events arising from two different commissions. Late last year, former President Donald Trump established Freedom 250—a nonprofit led by his affiliates—to offer an alternative agenda to America250, the official bipartisan commission established by Congress in 2016.

“The American dream is alive again,” Trump declared at a campaign-style rally on June 24, marking the commencement of Freedom 250’s Great American State Fair. This event, however, faced setbacks as nearly all its musical acts pulled out over concerns that the fair had become excessively political.

Philanthropy sees local impact as key to engagement

In stark contrast, America250 champions include the initiative America Gives. This program seeks to revitalize the spirit of volunteerism by partnering with nonprofits and encouraging citizens to record their service hours in a dedicated online system.

Merle Heatwole, the National Commander for Salvation Army USA, expressed disappointment that some participants view the nonpartisan program through a political lens. Nevertheless, he acknowledged the huge support of thousands of churches for May’s “Good Neighbor Day,” a volunteering effort.

“Some people have shied away because they’re not sure whether this is a nonpartisan effort, or whether it’s connected to the Trump administration versus the Democratic administrations,” Heatwole said. “That, I think, has hindered it slightly. But I think that overall, people are excited about having an opportunity to get involved.”

The America Gives tracker counted ”just over 38 million hours volunteered entering the holiday weekend.” It’s unclear how many hours would set the single-year record. Americans recorded 4.99 billion service hours in a one-year span from 2022-2023, according to an AmeriCorps analysis of Census Bureau data.

America250 Chair Rosie Rios said there will be a big year-end increase because many partners wait until “the last second” to populate their hours. She emphasized that highlighting the value of service is their only agenda.

Most nonprofits aren’t leveraging semiquincentennial campaigns, one consultant found. Jayne Cravens, whose 30-year nonprofit career has included volunteer coordination, said nonprofits lack the infrastructure to provide meaningful service experiences. That’s especially so after the Trump administration gutted AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, in 2025. Nonprofits scrambled to replace lost workers and funding.

Audra Watson, who leads youth civic programs at the nonprofit C&S, is spearheading a three-year effort to increase civic engagement among 20 million people ages 14 to 24.

She finds most young people are getting engaged through appeals outside of the 250th. While the milestone has sparked “some excitement for some young people,” she said, those participants are “hand-raisers” already “deeply excited about history.”

The more they encourage young people to consider local impact, where she said they hold the most influence, the more she finds they depart from partisanship.

“For some young people, the 250th is their thing,” she said. “But for many, many more of them this is about really taking that energy and catalyzing that energy around issues of their community.”

Dueling logos muddle the market

Marketing consultants say brands have to tread carefully, given a divided nation and shrinking national pride.

Further jumbling 250th celebration advertising, marketing executives noted, have been the two competing logos. The America250 emblem depicts a bold red, white and blue continuous ribbon that spells out “250.” The Freedom 250 design features the words “Freedom 250” written in a classic serif font, placed inside a circular arrangement of 13 stars, a nod to the original U.S. flag

“Once you have two competing logos, it’s confusing,” said Allen Adamson, co-founder of marketing consultancy Metaforce.

Walmart, an America250 founding sponsor, is sponsoring a mobile recording studio that is collecting oral histories across the country. The Library of Congress will archive a selection of stories, the company said.

Coca‑Cola launched “Paint the Nation,” a large-scale public art initiative resulting in dozens of murals created with local artists. The company said each mural will reflect local culture and community pride, creating a “visual legacy that extends beyond the anniversary year.” Commemorative mini-cans are also being issued for all 50 states plus Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C.

Aaron Hilton of Suffolk, Virginia says he’s seen lots of paper plates, cups and T-shirts with the America 250 reference. He’s not interested, blaming his lack of enthusiasm on the Trump administration.

“I’ll end up getting the Coke because I do drink Coke, but otherwise I really don’t want to buy anything like that,” said Hilton, 36. “I’m not feeling really patriotic about this.”

Darrell Brown, 60, of Alexander, Arkansas, has already bought commemorative T-shirts and flags. Every year, he decorates his lawn with a 7-foot inflatable Uncle Sam. This year, he’s added more American flags than usual to commemorate the milestone.

Brown saye he’s been sticking to merchandise with America250 references. He finds it politically divisive to have two logos.

“I don’t believe this should be a political issue,” he said. “I think it should be just about celebrating the country, regardless if you’re a Democrat or Republican.”

Grassroots programming defined commemoration 50 years ago

Future generations might be pleasantly surprised to see all their communities accomplished under the milestone’s banner, according to M.J. Rymsza-Pawlowska, a cultural historian who wrote a book about the 1976 bicentennial.

She recalled that the Vietnam war and Watergate still felt fresh during those celebrations. President Richard Nixon initially replaced Lyndon B. Johnson’s bipartisan planning commission with one composed of political appointees interested in a top-down celebration of American supremacy.

But Nixon scrapped those plans in place of federal funding for grassroots programming, Rymsza-Pawlowska said, which grew into forms of civic engagement still popular today. Environmental pick-ups and get-out-the-vote work were common forms of bicentennial volunteerism.

Private funders still support such efforts, though not at the scale possible with government backing. State humanities councils launched a “By the People” campaign to fund community-driven programs exploring the nation’s culture and imagining its future. Her Washington, D.C. chapter created an oral history project that promises “an intimate and complex portrait of what it means to call the nation’s capital home” today.

“We don’t really know what the ultimate legacy of the 250th will be,” Rymsza-Pawlowska said. “A commemoration is just an opportunity to do a thing that you were already doing but have an occasion for it. And possibly get some money for it.”
