75-Year-Old’s Inspiring Cycling Journey Aims to Fund Housing in Champaign County

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A local woman from Champaign is embarking on an extensive bike journey, covering hundreds of miles, all in an effort to support an initiative focused on constructing homes.

Anne Robin, at the age of 75, has been cycling for 500 miles annually over the past 25 years, raising funds for Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County. To commemorate this remarkable milestone, she is aiming to gather $25,000 in donations, marking the highest target she has ever set. Every dollar is devoted to providing housing solutions for those in need.

Expressing her admiration, Robin remarked, “I am passionate about Habitat for Humanity because it is a truly admirable organization. Among various charities, they strive to minimize overhead costs, channeling most of their resources into securing proper housing for individuals—a persistently urgent issue.”

This month, Robin has already completed her 500-mile goal with a memorable ride to Homer Lake. Those interested in contributing can find donation information here.

Venezuela Rocked by Powerful 7.1 Earthquake Causing Building Collapses

0

In Venezuela’s capital, numerous buildings crumbled after a powerful earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit near Morón.

According to NBC News, the seismic event occurred approximately 104 miles, or 168 kilometers, to the west of Caracas and had a depth of 8 miles, equivalent to 13 kilometers.

The USGS also noted a second tremor, this time at a magnitude of 7.5, occurring just a minute apart. This subsequent quake had a depth of 10 kilometers and was centered 16 kilometers, or 10 miles, southwest of Morón.

These powerful quakes are some of the most intense to have affected Venezuela in over a hundred years.

In response, the U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued an alert for the Virgin Islands, while authorities in the Dominican Republic did likewise for the island. Meanwhile, a separate warning for Puerto Rico was lifted shortly after being issued.

Video shared on social media showed several structures collapsing in the nation’s capital as a result of the earthquake.

Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said the quake shook several states across the country, with injuries and potential deaths in what was described as an “alarming situation” while urging people to remain outside as the region experiences aftershocks.

“We understand that some people may be desperate, but we are acting according to protocols to activate aid and rescue efforts to help those who need it most,” Cabello said on state television. “Be very careful with children and the elderly; call each other and check that no one has been harmed.”

“The building really shook from side to side. Unreal. The force was incredibly strong,” Caracas resident Roberto Damas said. “We were walking and it was tossing us around. Everything in the apartment fell. Well, thank God we were able to get out.”

Disturbing Footage: Pennsylvania Mother Pleads for Toddler’s Safety During Home Invasion

0

In a gripping video released by Pennsylvania authorities, a dramatic standoff is revealed at the trial of a man who took a 2-year-old girl hostage in her home. Her distressed mother was seen pleading for the child’s release during the tense, hours-long entanglement with police.

Antonio Hammond was found guilty on Tuesday by a jury for charges including kidnapping and firearm possession, according to the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office.

The trial included footage of the initial moments of the May 30, 2023, standoff in Harrisburg. As police cornered Hammond inside the home, Michele Peters, the girl’s mother, recorded the agonizing scene. Her autistic daughter cried as Hammond held on to her, ignoring police commands to surrender.

Throughout the ordeal, Hammond repeatedly insisted to the frantic mother that the police, whom he claimed were “trying to kill me,” would cause harm, urging her to “trust in God” as she begged for her daughter’s release.

“I love people. I love kids,” Hammond is heard saying in the video.

“I don’t know what you did. I don’t even know you,” Peters pleaded. “Give me my baby, please! You’re scaring her.”

“You’ve got my pride and my joy and I don’t know you,” the distressed mother added.

When Hammond ordered her to keep filming him with her cell phone, she responded, “I am recording. I’m doing everything you asked me to do.”

As officers surrounded the residence, Hammond repeatedly shouted to the police outside, “I didn’t do anything.” Peters yelled back to the officers that Hammond had walked into her apartment and taken her child hostage. Meanwhile, officers continued ordering Hammond to step outside with his hands up.

At one point in the footage, the phone appears to drop to the floor, leaving the audio muffled.

Prior to the recording, Hammond — who absconded from parole months earlier — had encountered law enforcement, PennLive Patriot-News reported. On the day of the standoff, officers spotted him wearing a mask on a hot day while walking with another individual.

Prosecutors said officers noticed Hammond had a firearm and attempted to stop him, prompting him to flee. During the ensuing foot chase, Hammond pointed a pistol at the pursuing officers and pulled the trigger, authorities said.

“While there were rounds in the magazine, there was not a round in the chamber,” the DA’s office stated in a news release. “The pistol only made a ‘click’ sound when Hammond pulled the trigger. Probation Officers Hoover and Robbins were five to eight feet away from Hammond when this occurred.”

Hammond then broke into the apartment where Peters and her three young children lived. Startled by his sudden intrusion, Peters was ordered by Hammond to record him, as he believed police would not shoot him if he was on camera. Meanwhile, he continued to hold the 2-year-old child and the pistol while shouting at police.

Peters was eventually able to escape the apartment with her infant daughter. However, Hammond kept the toddler hostage as negotiations with police deteriorated.

After nearly six hours, a Crisis Response Team (CRT) entered the home through a rear door.

“Hammond had the toddler in his arms while holding the semi-automatic pistol. Hammond pointed the handgun at the entry team and then put the muzzle against the toddler’s face,” the DA’s office said.

A CRT member successfully forced the handgun down and shot Hammond in the face. Other officers then rushed the toddler to safety. Medics treated Hammond at the scene, saving his life, authorities said.

Reese Witherspoon’s Red Carpet Appearance with New German Financier Partner

0

Reese Witherspoon recently stepped into the spotlight with her new beau, marking a significant high-profile event they attended together.

Accompanied by her son, Deacon Phillippe, the 50-year-old actress made her official red carpet debut alongside Oliver Haarmann. The couple appeared at the Elle premiere in New York City on Tuesday evening.

Though Witherspoon has kept this romance under wraps, her relationship with the German financier is now public. The pair has been dating since 2024 and decided to embrace the spotlight while celebrating the launch of the prequel to her famed 2001 comedy, Legally Blonde.

Flaunting a classic look of love, Witherspoon was seen gazing fondly at the dashing billionaire, sharing flirtatious exchanges amid the red carpet buzz.

Together, the two appeared deeply connected, holding hands and staying close throughout this star-studded affair.

Witherspoon turned heads in a lacy pink semi-sheer off-the-shoulder dress with billowy short sleeves.

She added height to her petite frame with the addition of open-toe nude heels that flashed her hot pink pedicure.

The Hello Sunshine media company founder’s blonde hair was styled in a side part, with the straight locks falling down her back.

Witherspoon began dating Haarmann in 2024 following her shock split in 2023 from Jim Toth, her husband of 12 years.

Her divorce from the former Creative Artists Agency bigwig, now 55, came 17 years after the end of her first marriage to Cruel Intentions co-star Ryan Phillippe, 51, in 2006.

Their romance was first confirmed by the Daily Mail in July 2024, nearly a year after Witherspoon and Toth, who share 13-year-old son Tennessee, finalized their divorce.

Witherspoon was the one who filed for divorce in April 2023, just a week after announcing the end of their marriage on social media — just days after the couple’s 12th wedding anniversary.

‘It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,’ the statement read, in part.

‘We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together,’ it continued.

In her divorce documents, Witherspoon cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their breakup.

The documents also revealed that the couple had agreed to a prenuptial agreement in March 2011 just before their intimate Ojai, California wedding. Witherspoon indicated in her divorce filing that the contract was valid, ‘providing “adequate and sufficient provisions” for their assets and debts,’ according to TMZ.

The divorce was finalized four months later in August 2023, when the former couple reached a marital dissolution agreement and signed off on a parenting plan for their only child.

While Witherspoon was reportedly ‘upset’ over the end of her marriage to Toth, she was no stranger to the difficulties of divorce.

In October 2006, Witherspoon’s marriage to Ryan Phillippe came to an end amid rumors of infidelity on Phillippe’s part, accusations he has denied.

The actors, who met two years before shooting the 1999 cult classic, were married for seven years and welcomed two children — daughter Ava, 26, and son Deacon, 22.

‘We are saddened to announce that Reese & Ryan have decided to formally separate. They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time,’ the pair said in a statement to TMZ.

Witherspoon, who did not sign a prenuptial agreement before marrying Phillippe, filed for divorce one month after the announcement, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their shock split.

At the time of their marriage, Witherspoon was still an up-and-coming actress while Phillippe had already earned Hollywood heartthrob status after starring in the 1997 blockbuster slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer.

By the time they divorced in 2006, Witherspoon’s star power had greatly eclipsed Phillippe’s as she achieved A-list status for her work in Legally Blonde (2001) and her Oscar-winning role in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line (2005).

Witherspoon was reportedly earning ‘at least $20 million per film’ while her then-husband Phillippe was earning ‘about $2.5 million per movie’ at the time of their divorce, according to ABC News.

The actress’ success sparked rumors of alleged tensions between her and Phillippe over their reported pay disparity.

Phillippe raised eyebrows at the 74th Academy Awards when he made a snide remark about Witherspoon ‘[making] more’ than him while he and his then-wife were presenting on stage together at the annual awards ceremony in 2002.

‘You make more than I do. Go ahead,’ Phillippe told Witherspoon after she asked to read out the winner’s name.

Witherspoon addressed the incident over a decade later during a 2020 appearance on the HFPA in Conversation podcast, where she admitted to being ‘flummoxed’ by her ex’s remark.

How do you think fame and fortune impact the chances of finding lasting love in Hollywood?

‘I forgot that ever happened. He did say that, and no, it wasn’t scripted. He didn’t tell me he was going to say that before it happened on air,’ she said.

With no prenup in place and the pair both residing in California at the time of their split, Witherspoon’s fortune likely took a hit as state law requires that earnings made during the marriage be divided 50/50.

The couple officially finalized their divorce in June 2008 and agreed to joint custody of their two children. Details of their settlement are unknown.

Witherspoon admitted in a 2014 interview with 60 Minutes that her brain was ‘scrambled eggs’ in the years following her divorce from Phillippe, who also previously described that period as the ‘worst time of [his] life.’

‘Phew, that was a tough year that followed. I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better,’ Witherspoon said at the time. ‘You know, you can’t really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs.’

She said she also felt like she was ‘floundering career-wise’ despite being a recent Oscar-winner.

Witherspoon appeared to be in a much stronger place — both personally and professionally — in the aftermath of her 2023 divorce from Toth.

However, a source told PEOPLE at the time that Witherspoon ‘never saw herself getting another divorce,’ so she was still ‘disappointed’ by the way things panned out.

Her new beau Haarmann, however, has also gone through a divorce of his own.

The businessman — a Harvard Business School graduate and the founder of the private equity firm Searchlight Capital Partners — was previously married to businesswoman Mala Gaonkar, 55, with whom he shares two sons.

France Experiences Unprecedented Heat as Europe Endures Intense Heatwave

0

A relentless heatwave is causing significant challenges across Europe, as temperatures soar past 35°C impacting an estimated 94 million individuals, predominantly in France and Spain.

Analyses combining weather forecasts from Germany’s meteorological authorities with 2025 projections from the European Joint Research Centre reveal that over 350 million people will endure temperatures exceeding 30°C, representing more than two-thirds of Europe’s population.

The severity of this scorching weather, which is surpassing temperatures in regions of both east and west Africa, is compounded by the fact that much of Europe’s architecture and infrastructure were not designed to withstand such heat.

Recently, a scientific report highlighted that the current heatwave has been “significantly worsened by climate change driven by human activity,” suggesting that, without these influences, temperatures could be 2°C to 4°C cooler.

In a London care home, elderly residents found it difficult to stay cool as the UK experienced its highest June temperature on record, reaching 36.1°C.

“We have to find means and ways to protect ourselves and do whatever nature wants. Nature is angry with us because we destroy everything,” 97-year-old resident Lucine Nazikian said.

The World Health Organization’s director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the heatwave was putting the health of Europeans at risk.

‘Swimming in my own heat’

Around 44 million of the nearly 67 million people in France are currently under the highest red alert level for heat, according to an AFP estimate.

On Wednesday, France experienced its hottest day since measurements began in 1947, the national weather agency said, breaking a record set just a day earlier.

The national temperature indicator — an average of daytime and night-time temperatures across 30 stations — reached 30C, Meteo-France said, citing provisional data.

“We insulated the windows, installed ceiling fans… but without air conditioning it’s tough,” said Manon Langlois, 34, a teacher in the southwestern city of Bordeaux, where the temperature reached 41.8C.

Spain also broke its June heat record, according to the Aemet weather agency, with an average temperature of 28.17C on Tuesday.

Conditions at many schools, offices and factories across the continent have become unbearable as temperatures rise, forcing early closures and employees to work from home.

“I’m practically swimming in my own sweat, which is not pleasant,” 25-year-old decorator Aaron Timothy told AFP in London while cooling off in the shade.

In Italy, where 16 cities are under red alert, the advocacy group Greenpeace said it had detected surface temperatures of 80C in the heavily asphalted area around Rome’s Termini railway station.

Despite restrictions for outdoor workers, the area was still buzzing with delivery riders, many of whom are self-employed, who said they had to work to survive.

Power cuts

Power outages have been reported in France, including in the northwest department of Finistere, where high temperatures knocked out a transformer late on Tuesday, leaving about 68,000 households without electricity.

In the UK, electricity grid operator Neso warned that supply could be squeezed due to pressure on the system.

Sales of fans and air conditioners have skyrocketed as people try to keep cool.

June is a key month for tourism in Europe but popular landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower and Louvre museum in Paris, and the stainless steel Atomium in Brussels, have been shutting early because of the heat.

US engineer John Beeler, wearing a fisherman’s hat and holding a small fan, said visiting Paris in such conditions was “awful”.

“We’re suffocating in the streets, we’re suffocating in the subway and we’re even suffocating in our rental,” he said, adding that they would be moving to an air-conditioned hotel room.

Heading east

The heatwave has pushed up temperatures even in usually milder northern countries such as Denmark, while Austria could see 40C and neighbouring Slovakia was on its highest extreme heat alert.

Further east, Poland’s weather service issued high-level heat warnings for the western part of the country from Thursday to Saturday, and predicted temperatures could break the record of 40.2C set in 1921.

Croatia’s popular Adriatic coast was also put under red alert for Friday and Saturday, while Hungary said it was imposing a maximum level alert from Saturday to Tuesday.

The head of the UN’s IPCC climate experts panel, Jim Skea, said the current temperatures were above some scientific projections, and warned that the continent would inevitably face more extremes as the planet warms.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa Ignites Breakup Speculations with Billionaire Beau

0

Rumors are swirling that BLACKPINK’s Lalisa Manobal, famously recognized as “Lisa,” has ended her relationship with billionaire Frédéric Arnault. This speculation arises after Lisa mentioned feeling “heartbroken” during a recent interview.

In a conversation with Vanity Fair, published on Tuesday, Lisa, known for her role in “White Lotus,” was asked if she has ever played the role of a “heartbreaker.” The 29-year-old clarified, “No.”

She elaborated by saying, “I feel like I’ve been the one who got heartbroken more often than not,” signaling her past emotional experiences.

According to the publication, the conversation turned when she became too emotional to continue discussing the topic, prompting a shift to other subjects.

The feature story suggested that the duo, who officially started dating in 2023, may have recently parted ways. It was also highlighted that inquiries about her relationship or personal matters were off-limits during the interview.

The duo first sparked breakup rumors in March, when Arnault, 31, missed the global superstar‘s birthday party.

A rep for the singer did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Wednesday, while a rep for Arnault was not immediately available to Page Six for comment.

The former couple kept their relationship under the radar, surfacing publicly in 2024 for a TAG Heuer and Formula 1 event in Miami.

Arnault is the son of billionaire Bernard Arnault and was previously CEO of LVMH Watches, which owns TAG Heuer.

While dodging questions about her personal life, Manoban did offer up some insight on the importance of privacy during the cover story.

“I feel like after I came out and talked about how there’s no privacy for me, [fans] now respect that a lot more,” she told the magazine.

The K-pop icon said her fans “know that being in this position is not easy.”

“Sometimes it’s just a little too much, and sometimes I just want to be normal,” she confessed.

As far as her burgeoning acting career — which took flight with her role in HBO Max’s “The White Lotus” — goes, the musician shared that she was moved to try and “find inspiration” in something new.

“Sometimes when you’re doing the things that (you’ve done) for more than 10 years, you feel like you should find new things to find inspiration,” she told the outlet, noting that as a child, her mother sent her to acting school.

Shocking Video Captures Violent Assault on Street Vendor in Downtown Los Angeles

0

LOS ANGELES — An unsettling incident occurred in downtown Los Angeles where a street vendor suffered an attack while working at her stand—a confrontation that was captured entirely on video.

In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, a dispute between a woman and the street vendor is depicted. The footage reveals the woman pouring hot sauce over the vendor’s hot dogs, provoking the vendor to retaliate by throwing a red powder at her. The situation rapidly escalated into a physical confrontation.

As the altercation unfolds, the video shows the woman advancing towards the vendor, who tries to avoid her. Both end up on the ground, with the woman delivering punches to the back of the vendor’s head, as captured in the video.

Witnesses at the scene attempted to intervene and stop the violence. As the vendor was assisted back to her feet and tried to leave the area, the video reveals the woman once again attacking—striking the vendor’s head and face before dragging her to the ground by her hair.

Eventually, several bystanders successfully managed to intervene, stopping the assault as the woman made an attempt to attack the vendor for a third time.

A GoFundMe page set up by the victim’s son identifies the street vendor as Arabelia Martinez.

“A beautiful, hardworking street vendor in downtown Los Angeles,” the page’s description says. “My mom has dedicated herself to her work every single day, rain or shine, to provide for our family. She is one of the most resilient and loving people I know, and no one deserves what happened to her. The assault not only left her physically and emotionally shaken, but also resulted in damage to the items she works so hard to maintain.”

Funds raised will go toward Arabelia’s therapy and recovery while giving her time off from work to heal and will help replace damaged items from her stand. Her cart, which is her livelihood, was damaged in the attack.

The LAPD is investigating the incident.

The victim’s family says race may have been a factor. The longtime street vendor’s son says the unidentified woman began harassing his mother as she sold food near Figueroa and 7th streets, telling her to go back to Mexico and making racist comments.

Sebastian Gutierrez, who delivers for Uber Eats, says he couldn’t believe what happened.

“It was horrible. It really made me angry, myself, witnessing that. Worse than a lot of the others. I’ve seen other times people getting attacked, and what not here, but that really, it just feels so wrong. It’s just like, there’s no reason to be doing that at all,” Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez added that the woman appeared to have mental health issues or be under the influence.

“And then I see her suddenly push over all of the items of at least one of these vendor stands. Dozens of fruit cups, an entire hot dog cart,” said Gutierrez.

Police continue searching for the suspect.

Grisly Discoveries: Kansas City Shooting Suspect’s Body Unearthed in Burned Out Basement

0

In a recent development, police informed Fox News on Wednesday of the discovery of what is believed to be the body of suspect Oscar Sanchez-Munoz. His remains were found by family members in the basement of a house ravaged by fire, located near the Kansas City World Cup venues.

Authorities reported that the family reached out to law enforcement around 2 p.m. local time after stumbling upon the decomposed body, concealed under layers of rubble.

Though the family had visited the burnt-out residence multiple times following a standoff with the police, it was only through clearing the debris and following a distinctive odor that they uncovered the concealed remains.

Previously, investigators, federal partners and K-9 units had repeatedly searched the Independence, Missouri, property without success.

Authorities said the basement partially collapsed, flooded with water, and was filled with a large amount of “clutter,” which complicated the search.

The discovery brings a presumed end to a massive multi-agency manhunt that began after Sanchez-Munoz allegedly fired at vehicles along Interstate 70, just miles from Arrowhead Stadium where FIFA World Cup matches were being held.

The spree of half dozen shootings left one person dead and several others seriously injured, including an Uber driver who was shot while transporting soccer fans.

During the search for Sanchez-Munoz, the FBI offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to his capture, warning the public that he was “armed and dangerous.”

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche had publicly speculated that the suspect might be dead inside the Missouri home, though police were unable to confirm it at the time.

FBI officials said suspect Oscar Sanchez-Munoz had visible acne scars and is 5 feet 8 inches tall. (FBI)

Officials said investigators are currently operating under the assumption that the deceased person is Sanchez-Munoz, noting clothing on the body matched what the shooter wore during last week’s attacks.

A medical examiner will confirm the identity and determine the cause of death.

Officials assured the public there is no threat to the community, and added that all surviving victims are expected to recover.

KATSEYE Scandal Unveiled: Insiders Expose Shocking Reality Behind the Star

0

Last month, when the girl group KATSEYE revealed plans for their world tour, fans couldn’t help but notice a significant omission from the promotional material: a familiar face was missing.

Once a solid ensemble of six, the pop band now numbers only five members. This change comes in the wake of a surprising announcement regarding Manon Bannerman. Her decision to take a hiatus left fans questioning the unity of what appeared to be an unbreakable group.

The news stands in stark contrast to Bannerman’s December Instagram post. In it, the 23-year-old expressed her awe and gratitude for her bandmates, enthusing about their shared journey and ending with the phrase, ‘Kats forever.’

However, just two months later, it was disclosed that Swiss-born Bannerman, the group’s only black member, was stepping away to focus on her ‘health and wellbeing.’ This abrupt and secretive hiatus generated a torrent of speculation and concern among the group’s dedicated fans, some of whom suggested that racial issues might be involved.

The situation has since escalated. What was initially described as a short pause has extended to a four-month absence. Bannerman has been notably absent from several major performances, including appearances at Coachella in April and Governor’s Ball in New York City earlier this month. If the tour poster is any indication, she will not be joining the upcoming and already sold-out WildWorld tour, which is expected to continue through November.

Indeed, as Bannerman keeps out the spotlight in private, KATSEYE has forged ahead as a quintet with record-breaking success, with an inside source telling the Daily Mail that they seem to be moving on without her.

In February, it was announced that Bannerman (front row, center) had stepped back for her 'health and wellbeing'

Bannerman was missing from KATSEYE's tour poster

‘What was and has been originally described as a temporary break has increasingly started to feel like something much bigger,’ the insider said.

‘The other girls have said behind the scenes that Manon wasn’t putting in the same level of effort as everyone else. Whether that’s entirely fair or not, those feelings have created tension and have strained the bond they once shared.’

KATSEYE – marketed as the world’s first ‘global girl group’ given that their members hail from the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States – rose to prominence in 2024 after forming on the reality TV competition show, The Debut: Dream Academy, created by South Korean record label Hybe and American label Geffen Records.

Comprised of members Daniela Avanzini, 21; Yoonchae Jeung, 18; Sophia Laforteza, 23; Lara Raj, 20; and Megan Skiendiel, 20, in addition to Bannerman, KATSEYE has fast taken the world by storm.

In February this year, they performed their hit song ‘Gnarly’ at the Grammy Awards and earned two nominations – Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Then, Bannerman’s hiatus was announced. While originally intended ‘to give everyone some breathing room’ and to reset the ‘mood’ of the group, it has now backfired as KATSEYE have ‘found a new rhythm’ without Bannerman, according to our source.

‘They got back on track, the chemistry improved, and they became more comfortable operating as they are now. Which now makes it look like there doesn’t appear to be much urgency or interest in bringing Manon back into the fold,’ the source said.

In April, KATSEYE took the stage for a smashing set at Coachella, scoring the most-streamed performance during the first weekend of the festival. Then, at the American Music Awards in May, they delivered a lively performance of their hit ‘Pinky Up’ and took home three awards, including New Artist of the Year.

They’ve now been added to the lineup of Olivia Rodrigo’s all-female Daisy Chain Fields music festival, which will take place in Irvine, California in August.

Their first single without Bannerman, ‘Pinky Up’, reached No 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was a top 20 hit in Australia and the UK. The song’s music video has over 57 million views on YouTube and on Spotify it has been streamed over 141 million times. It’s also the longest-charting song on the Hot 100 from a female group this year.

An EP titled ‘Wild’ is slated for release on August 14, with the record already becoming one of Spotify’s most pre-saved albums.

Meanwhile, Bannerman’s social media activity has only fueled the feud rumors.

She recently ‘liked’ an Instagram post from pop culture commentator Simply Simone, who had claimed Bannerman was the victim of ‘abhorrent hate’ due to her skin color. The post also claimed that black members of mixed-race girl groups are often victims of racism.

In another post of her own, Bannerman this week shared a picture of a friend who was traveling with her on a plane and holding her pinky finger upwards at an angle. Some fans thought it a not-too-subtle dig at KATSEYE’s new ‘Pinky Up’ hit.

‘Not you trying to shade Katseye with that pinky up,’ one follower wrote.

More confusing still, while the group’s record label Hybe have said that Bannerman has been on hiatus for recuperation, the singer herself has taken to the social media app WeVerse to insist that she is in fine health.

‘I want you to hear this from me, I’m healthy, I’m okay, and I’m taking care of myself,’ Manon wrote.

‘Thank u for checking in! Sometimes things unfold in ways we don’t fully control, but I’m trusting the bigger picture. Thank you for standing by me. I love you endlessly and can’t wait to see you again.’

Back on Instagram, where she has over 6 million followers, Bannerman has also since removed a reference to KATSEYE from her bio, sparking fears that she may be leaving for good.

The five remaining members of KATSEYE, however, have put on a united front – keen to quell rumors of any discord.

While in Australia last month, they took a sisterly trip to the zoo together, sharing photos snuggled up to stuffed koala toys.

And this past weekend, Avanzini and Jeung were spotted leaving Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine tour in Los Angeles.

As for Bannerman, she recently made a guest appearance alongside Heidi Klum on Germany’s Next Top Model and was at the Miami Grand Prix last month.

She has otherwise kept a low profile and seems to be enjoying spending time with her friends after being thrust into the whirlwind of overnight pop superstardom.

And, a source told the Daily Mail, everybody seems ‘happy’ to move forward on their own.

‘All the girls understand that groups like this rarely last forever. Eventually, everyone starts thinking about solo projects and what comes next,’ they said.

‘Right now, moving forward without Manon seems to be the direction everyone has accepted and is happy with. They can say they’ll always be sisters, and maybe on some level that’s true. But as more time passes and the distance continues to grow, a reunion feels less and less likely.’

A source close to Bannerman, however, insisted that the 23-year-old ‘does not want to leave the band’ and is frustrated with how she was portrayed on the reality TV show.

While the other members boasted backgrounds in either singing or dancing before joining KATSEYE, Bannerman had only worked as a model. As a result, she was often ranked last by the show’s judges as the other members were more experienced on stage.

On the show Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, which followed their ascent to global stardom, she was accused of regularly missing practice and rehearsals.

While she is ‘aware of criticism’ about the group’s performance style and ensembles, the source said that she is also ‘the member who is most in touch with what the audience wants because of her background as an influencer.’

She simply ‘took the break to work out what she wanted to do next,’ the source added.

When pressed about Manon’s absence in April on The Zane Lowe show, the women of KATSEYE had nothing but kind words for her.

‘At the end of the day, we just all want each other to win. And to be good. And to feel good and to be happy and just, you know, just keep showing up for what we want,’ Laforteza said.

Raj added, ‘I think we also want to say like she’s our sister forever. You know what I mean? Like we love her so much and we built this together. So we just want to give her all the space and love she needs right now.’

While KATSEYE seem to be dancing around the topic, the insider said that the group will likely be forced to face the music eventually.

‘They will have to address it soon and before they go out on tour,’ the source said. ‘So by the end of the summer things will be addressed and made much clearer as they all want to move forward for the benefit of all of them and their fans.’

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for KATSEYE and Bannerman for comment.

Transform Your Body After 50 with These Effective Bodyweight Workouts

Reinvigorate your strength, balance, and muscle tone post-50 with these five essential bodyweight exercises.

>

Bodyweight training is invaluable as it challenges you to master the movement of your own body. This becomes especially beneficial after age 50, as it enhances strength, balance, coordination, core stability, joint durability, and muscular endurance. Performed with proper technique, these exercises can significantly transform both your physique and mobility.

While weight training is superb, bodyweight exercises offer unique perks. They emphasize precise postures and consistent effort, requiring minimal equipment and adaptable to various environments. These exercises focus on engaging major muscle groups, ensuring that every repetition contributes effectively to your fitness.

In my coaching sessions, I prioritize bodyweight exercises that immediately demonstrate control. Can you descend smoothly? Can you rise without excessive movement? Is your core stable as your limbs move? Achieving strong, controlled repetitions leads to improved muscle tone and overall body composition.

These five exercises offer a comprehensive workout targeting all major areas: legs, glutes, chest, back, shoulders, arms, and core. Integrate them into a full-body routine, or incorporate them into existing workouts for an efficient and effective training day.

Push-Up

Push-ups train your chest, shoulders, triceps, core, and glutes. They’re one of the best upper-body bodyweight exercises because your arms press, your trunk braces, and your lower body has to stay locked in place. After 50, that combination builds strength you can feel when getting off the floor, pushing yourself up, carrying items, and supporting your body with your hands. Start with an incline if needed and lower the angle as your strength improves.

Muscles Trained: Chest, shoulders, triceps, core, glutes.

How to Do It:

  1. Place your hands on the floor, a wall, a bench, or a sturdy, elevated surface.
  2. Step your feet back until your body forms a straight line.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Lower your chest toward your hands with control.
  5. Bend your elbows to at least 90 degrees if your strength and shoulders allow.
  6. Press through your hands to return to the starting position.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 6 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Wall push-ups, incline push-ups, knee push-ups, full push-ups.

Form Tip: Keep your elbows angled slightly back and press through your whole hand.

6 Standing Arm Exercises That Tighten Sagging Arms in 30 Days After 60

Squat

Squats train your quads, glutes, hamstrings, hips, and core. They deserve a spot on this list because they build the lower-body strength you use all day: standing up, sitting down, climbing stairs, getting in and out of the car, and moving with more confidence. A good bodyweight squat also teaches balance and control without needing an external load. Keep your feet grounded and move through the deepest range you can own.

Muscles Trained: Quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, hips, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand with your feet about shoulder-width apart.
  2. Brace your core and keep your chest lifted.
  3. Bend your knees and lower your hips.
  4. Lower until your thighs reach at least parallel, or as low as you can control.
  5. Press through your feet to stand tall.
  6. Squeeze your glutes at the top without leaning back.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Chair squats, box squats, tempo squats, pause squats.

Form Tip: Keep your knees tracking with your toes and drive through your whole foot.

Reverse Lunge

Reverse lunges train your glutes, quads, hamstrings, hips, calves, and core while giving each leg its own job. The reverse step usually feels smoother than a forward lunge, which makes it a strong choice after 50. You get lower-body strength, balance, coordination, and hip control in one exercise. Use a wall or chair for light support if needed, and focus on making each rep steady.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, hips, calves, core.

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Brace your core and keep your chest lifted.
  3. Step one foot back into a lunge.
  4. Lower your back knee toward the floor with control.
  5. Press through your front foot to return to standing.
  6. Complete all reps, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Assisted reverse lunges, split squats, alternating reverse lunges, walking lunges.

Form Tip: Keep your front foot planted and let your front leg drive you back to standing.

6 Daily Exercises To Shrink Hanging Belly Fat Better Than Gym Sessions After 60

Inverted Row

Inverted rows train your upper back, lats, rear shoulders, biceps, grip, and core. They’re one of the best bodyweight pulling exercises because they balance out push-ups and strengthen the muscles that support posture. A sturdy table, low bar, suspension trainer, or rings can work for this movement. Adjust your body angle to make the exercise easier or harder.

Muscles Trained: Upper back, lats, rear delts, biceps, core, grip.

How to Do It:

  1. Set up under a sturdy bar or suspension handles.
  2. Hold the bar or handles with both hands.
  3. Walk your feet forward until your body forms a straight line.
  4. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  5. Pull your chest toward your hands.
  6. Lower yourself with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 6 to 12 reps. Rest for 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Higher-angle inverted rows, bent-knee inverted rows, paused rows, towel rows.

Form Tip: Pull through your elbows and keep your body straight from shoulders to heels.

Plank With Shoulder Taps

Planks with shoulder taps train your abs, obliques, shoulders, chest, glutes, and deep core. The shoulder tap adds movement, so your core has to resist twisting and rocking. That makes it more useful than simply holding still for a long time. This exercise helps reshape your midsection by improving bracing strength, posture, and shoulder control, while keeping your whole body active.

Muscles Trained: Abs, obliques, deep core, shoulders, chest, glutes.

How to Do It:

  1. Start in a high plank with your hands under your shoulders.
  2. Step your feet wider than hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Lift one hand and tap the opposite shoulder.
  5. Place your hand back down with control.
  6. Alternate sides while keeping your hips steady.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 12 taps per side. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Incline shoulder taps, knee plank shoulder taps, slower shoulder taps, and standard high plank holds.

Form Tip: Keep your hips quiet and move your hand slowly.

How to Reshape Your Body With Bodyweight Training After 50

Bodyweight training works best when you treat it like real strength work. Choose variations that challenge you, control the lowering phase, and make the final reps feel meaningful. The goal is to build muscle, improve movement quality, and raise your total daily activity without needing a full gym plan.

  • Train the main patterns: Push, squat, lunge, pull, and brace. These movements target the largest muscles and provide your body with a complete training signal.
  • Use the right variation: Inclines, chairs, walls, and sturdy supports help you scale each exercise. The right version should feel challenging while still letting you move well.
  • Slow down the reps: A controlled lowering phase builds more tension and makes bodyweight exercises feel much harder.
  • Turn it into a circuit: Perform one set of each exercise, rest 60 to 90 seconds, and repeat for 2 to 4 rounds. This adds a conditioning effect while keeping the focus on strength.
  • Progress weekly: Add reps, reduce assistance, increase range of motion, slow the tempo, or add pauses as your body adapts.

The best bodyweight exercises make your whole body work together. Push, squat, lunge, pull, and brace with control, and you’ll build strength, muscle tone, and movement confidence that carries well beyond the workout.
