Brooklyn Beckham’s Playful Jab: ‘I Gave Away My World Cup Tickets’ Sparks Social Media Buzz

0

Brooklyn Beckham has once again criticized his estranged family, this time in the full version of his latest DoorDash advertisement. The campaign has stirred controversy, with claims that Brooklyn is leveraging their family rift for financial gain.

The 27-year-old chef had already alluded to the family discord in a teaser for the ad, but the complete version has drawn even more criticism from audiences.

Critics argue that Brooklyn continues to capitalize on the Beckham name, despite his assertions of wanting to distance himself from his parents, David, 51, and Victoria, 52.

The ad reportedly left David and Victoria deeply upset, with his sister Harper and grandparents also feeling distraught. Further details can be found in the full Mail+ article.

In the full commercial, Brooklyn remarks, “You might be wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… it’s a long story.”

‘These can go to someone…else,’ he told a Doordash employee as he handed over a bag of tickets, adding: ‘Hey, put them somewhere fun!’

The caption on the post read: ‘Asked @doordash to go drop my FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets for you guys… happy hunting Follow @doordash’s account to see clues for where you can find them xx #DoorDashPartner #DeliverUsToFutbol #FifaWorldCup2026.’

Like the teaser that had come before, the advert sparked huge backlash in the comments, including: ‘This is a giant PR miss;’

‘Calm down Harry – this isn’t as funny as you think it is!! Pot kettle black much…?’

‘Nobody was wondering. P.s.. for someone who claims his parents are ruling his life, you are definitely cashing in on your father’s hard work repeatedly…..’

Brooklyn has been accused of ‘cashing in’ on the fallout from his family, who he has not spoken to in 18 months, and has now been criticised for a ‘cheap joke’ about the rift in the advert.

One of the UK’s leading PR experts said the campaign, which has been posted to his Instagram, will leave companies ‘aghast’ and all but end any chance of a reconciliation with his parents.

Andy Barr, Head of Brand Communications at Season One Comms, said: ‘This could well be the beginning of the end for Brand Brooklyn.

‘Brands will look on aghast at the negative public reaction to how he has used his family feud in this way and will want to steer clear.’

In the complete sponsored clip, Brooklyn said: ‘You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… it’s a long story’

Like the teaser that had come before, the advert sparked huge backlash in the comments

Sean O’Meara, managing director of strategic communications consultancy Essential Content, called it a PR ‘disasterclass’ by Brooklyn.

He said: ‘It looks cheap. Sly public digs at family members, especially when the public figure is getting paid to do it in an advert, never land well. This makes him look petty and to an extent, arrogant. Does Brooklyn need the money so badly that he’ll air his family’s dirty laundry in public?’

The teaser video sparked a backlash online, with comments now limited for some Instagram users. One fan wrote: ‘If you hate them so much drop the name and stop profiting from association.’

Others branded it ‘tasteless’ and claimed that the advert hasn’t been received the way that Brooklyn and the brand may have hoped.

The comments read: ‘You just want attention’; ‘Very poor form, Brooklyn!’; ‘Well that’s in poor taste’; ‘Someone in a planning meeting thought this would be funny/ragebaity/mildly interesting/quirky. It’s not’;

‘Dang DoorDash I don’t think this is going over the way you thought it would’; ‘How do you think your sister feels seeing this’; ‘You’re at home because you divorced your entire family’; ‘This is tasteless’; ‘When you keep having digs at your family to stay relevant’;

‘Yikes! Anyone else cringing?’; ‘This is so disturbing’; ‘You knew what you were doing with this commercial’; ‘Am I the only one who finds the irony in him doing this ad?’.

Brooklyn is set to cash in on his deal with DoorDash, despite already having an individual net worth of £7.4million.

In the post sponsored by the delivery firm, he seems to relish the opportunity to hit back at his family, with the video containing a number of seemingly hidden messages.

While Brooklyn has been wearing the £250,000 Patek Philippe Nautilus watch gifted to him by his father, who played in three World Cups in 1998, 2002 and 2006, he shakes off this association by pointedly placing a new one on his coffee table.

And there was a stack of unopened letters from home – perhaps a nod to his refusal to make contact with his family.

Only on Friday, his sister Harper, 14, went to his Beverly Hills home to deliver a handwritten note but was crestfallen when she discovered he wasn’t home.

Shortly after his sister’s appearance at the home Brooklyn shares with his wife Nicola Peltz, 31, their camp accused the Beckhams of ‘using Harper as a pawn’.

Friends of David and Victoria have hit back at the ‘nasty accusation levelled at an innocent young girl’ from their estranged son, 27.

However, representatives for Brooklyn and Nicola insisted the circumstances surrounding the visit raised serious questions.

They told the Daily Mail: ‘[The fact] that photographers were in place as the letter was hand delivered says it all – this was choreographed for the cameras.’

In response, friends close to Victoria and David have said: ‘It is incredibly sad that this horrible accusation is being levelled at an innocent young girl who just desperately misses her brother.

‘Nothing needed to be said at all so to invent this nasty accusation is really unnecessary.’

They have also claimed that Brooklyn hasn’t accepted any contact from Harper or his grandparents since the falling out.

Following Harper’s visit, it later emerged that Brooklyn, 27, was not even in California at the time.

Instead, the aspiring chef and media personality shared an Instagram story showing himself out for a run in New York City, making it clear that he was on the opposite side of the country when his younger sister arrived at his front door.

Harper had been in LA, alongside her brothers Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21, to watch their father be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

David’s new plaque has taken pride of place at the centre of Hollywood Boulevard, just over five miles from Brooklyn’s home.

The former England captain appeared determined to avoid discussing the family fallout during interviews ahead of the ceremony.

Asked what toll months of headlines surrounding the feud had taken on him, he replied: ‘To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about.’

The Beckhams have been embroiled in an increasingly acrimonious dispute with Brooklyn and Nicola for months, with relations said to have deteriorated dramatically after the couple failed to attend David’s 50th birthday celebrations in May 2025.

In January, Brooklyn released a scathing six-page statement (below) announcing he had cut ties with his family – declaring he was no longer part of ‘Brand Beckham’ and insisting his parents and their other children are ‘performative’.

Shortly before Christmas last year, Brooklyn blocked his parents on Instagram, while Brooklyn and Nicola’s lawyers later wrote to the Beckhams’ legal team requesting that all communication be conducted through legal representatives.

Brooklyn also claimed David and Victoria had controlled him for much of his life, attempted to drive a wedge between him and Nicola and left him embarrassed when his mother danced ‘inappropriately’ with him during the first dance at his wedding.

Victoria has previously spoken about the challenges of parenting older children while under intense scrutiny.

Speaking about all four of her children, she said: ‘Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it’s very different from having little children.

‘I think that we’re trying to do the best we can,’ she said, adding that the negative press in recent months had not affected her fashion and beauty empire.

‘I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good. I don’t think they’re buying my eyeliner just because it’s me.’

Cruz and Romeo publicly vouched for their sister on Sunday after Brooklyn accused the family of ‘choreographing’ her visit to his house.

Romeo showed support for his sister as he branded her his ‘favourite person ever’ and shared a sweet selfie of them together on Instagram.

He flashed a smile while wearing a Brazil jacket from his own label Intra, cuddled up next to his beloved sibling, who was pulling a playful expression.

Cruz’s girlfriend Jackie, 30, also revealed they had spent quality time with his younger sister during their trip stateside after the snub.

The group headed out for a seafood dinner at The Crab Cooker in Newport Beach, before grabbing ice cream cones for dessert.

They also hung out another day on the trip, as they picked up Erewhon smoothies in one sweet selfie of Jackie and Harper together.

She had captioned the selection of snaps: ‘LA – OC!! Core memory weekend. We obviously went looking for Summer and Seth.’

Both Cruz and Victoria shared some love under the post and left a string of red heart emojis underneath.

Brooklyn was last pictured with his family during Christmas 2024, and by May 2025 it was clear a feud had formed after Brooklyn failed to acknowledge either of his parents’ birthdays and snubbed David’s 50th.

He accused his parents of trying to ruin his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz and said his mother danced ‘inappropriately’ on him during his 2022 nuptials to the billionaire heiress.

He also claimed that Victoria ‘cancelled’ plans to make Nicola’s gown at the last minute, ‘forcing her to urgently find a new dress’. Brooklyn hit out at his father, as he said he was in the UK to attend David’s 50th celebrations, but claimed repeated requests to see him beforehand were ignored and ‘when he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited’.

Brooklyn Beckham’s statement in full

I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.

I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.

Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.

My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped. My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.

Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.

They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.

During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me “evil” because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.

The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was “not blood” and “not family.” Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, I’ve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, that were sent to the press on their orders.

Even my brothers were sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last Summer.

My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.

She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.

My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one. My mum has repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.

Despite this, we still travelled to London for my dad’s birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him. He refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.

When he finally agreed to see me, it was under the condition that Nicola wasn’t invited. It was a slap in the face. Later, when my family travelled to LA, they refused to see me at all.

My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first. Family “love” is decided by how much you post on social media, or how quickly you drop everything to show up and pose for a family photo opp, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations.

We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family.’ But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.

The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared.

I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.

Finland’s Parliament Makes Landmark Decision to End Longstanding Nuclear Weapon Ban in NATO Defense Update

0

On Wednesday, Finland’s parliament took a significant step by voting to remove a long-standing prohibition on nuclear weapons. This decision marks a pivotal shift in Finland’s defense policy, aligning the country more closely with NATO’s deterrence strategy.

Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen highlighted the overwhelming support for the change to the Nuclear Energy Act, describing it as a “historic reform” that enhances both Finland’s and NATO’s security.

“The Parliament approved the amendment to the Nuclear Energy Act with a strong 2/3 majority,” Häkkänen shared in a post on X, emphasizing the reform as a significant boost to Finland’s and NATO’s overall security.

Finland’s accession to NATO in April 2023 followed Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, marking the end of Finland’s long-standing military non-alignment. This strategic move was aimed at reinforcing Finland’s collective defense capabilities, effectively doubling NATO’s shared border with Russia.

“The overall nuclear weapons policy has been one of the most challenging issues in the Ministry of Defence during this parliamentary term. Years of study, discussions with nuclear-weapon states and other allies, and assessments of how Finland’s security can best be strengthened in NATO,” Häkkänen said.

The measure repeals provisions in Finland’s 1987 Nuclear Energy Act that banned the import, production, possession and detonation of nuclear explosives.

If enacted, the legislation would allow nuclear weapons to be transported, supplied or possessed in Finland where the country’s military defense requires it.

According to Euro News, 125 deputies backed the government proposal, 61 voted against it and 13 abstained.

The bill now moves to the president for final approval.

“I thank all the Members of Parliament who supported our legislative proposal for their strong backing,” Häkkänen said. “Thank you to the defense administration professionals at home and abroad for their high expertise also in this project.”

Despite the bill passing, the proposal has drawn criticism from opposition lawmakers, who warned it could escalate tensions, make Finland a potential primary target, and break from regional norms, noting that several neighboring countries have rejected hosting or permitting nuclear weapons.

The introduction of the proposed law also provoked a strong reaction from Russia last March, according to Reuters.

“This is a statement that leads to an escalation of tensions on the European continent,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“This statement adds to Finland’s vulnerability, a vulnerability provoked by the actions of the Finnish authorities. The fact is that by deploying nuclear weapons on its territory, Finland is beginning to threaten us. And if Finland threatens us, we take appropriate measures.”

LaGuardia Airport Faces Second Runway Closure in Weeks Due to Recurring Pavement Issue

0

On Wednesday, LaGuardia Airport faced a temporary closure of one of its two main runways after inspectors identified a pavement “depression” near the airstrip. This incident marks the second occurrence within a month where operations on the runway have been halted due to pavement issues at the New York City airport.

The issue was located near Runway 4/22, one of LaGuardia’s primary runways. Officials reported that the depression measures approximately two inches in depth.

“An approximately two-inch depression adjacent to Runway 4/22 was identified during an airfield inspection at LaGuardia Airport,” the airport stated.

The closure was initiated as a precautionary measure, with officials emphasizing that there is no “immediate safety concern.” The proactive step was taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure continued safety at the airport.

FlightAware flight-tracking data indicated that arrivals at LaGuardia were experiencing average delays of 48 minutes, although these delays were reportedly decreasing. Earlier that day, ABC 7 noted there had been 174 flight delays, referencing the same platform.

Runway 4/22 is scheduled to close at 5 p.m. and is expected to remain shut until Thursday morning as repair crews work overnight to conduct additional testing, identify the cause of the issue and perform any necessary stabilization work.

“Our goal is to complete the assessment and any necessary repair work overnight and return the runway to service as soon as it is safe to do so,” the airport said.

During the closure, operations will be shifted to LaGuardia’s remaining main runway, 13/31, beginning at 5 p.m. and are expected to continue until repairs are completed.

LaGuardia said passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for flight status.

The incident marks the second time in less than a month that the same section of pavement has required emergency engineering work.

The runway was previously closed after a sinkhole formed around the Memorial Day travel rush.

Tragic Accident in Central Park: Teen Loses Life as Horse Carriage Spirals Out of Control

0

A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday in Central Park when a teenager was ejected from a runaway carriage, resulting in fatal injuries.

The 18-year-old, aboard the horse-drawn carriage with three others, faced this perilous situation shortly before 3 p.m., as reported by the New York Police Department.

In critical condition, the young man was swiftly transported to Weill-Cornell Medical Center following the accident. Meanwhile, the other passengers declined medical assistance at the scene.

Authorities have identified the victim as Romanch Mahajan, a visitor from India. He sustained a traumatic head injury after being hurled from the carriage and striking the pavement.

Footage captures the dramatic moment, with the carriage operator seen desperately chasing the runaway as Mahajan tumbles to the ground.

A representative for the Transport Workers Union, which represents carriage industry employees, said the horse had been in the park for only six weeks.

The driver had dismounted to take a photograph of his passengers, according to Alexander Kemp, the administrative vice president of the union’s local chapter.

‘A driver is not supposed to leave the carriage to take photos – ever,’ Kemp said. ‘We support a full investigation.

The horse and carriage with the family still inside was seen to be out of control as the driver chased it in sheer desperation

‘We also support enhanced driving training, tougher examinations with a practical component demonstrating proficiency, and rules governing the introduction of new horses into the business,’ Kemp explained.

‘Thousands upon thousands of rides are taken without incident, but steps must be taken to prevent accidents like this.’

Video showed the horse galloping through the park as two people appeared to jump from the four-wheeled carriage.

A second video shows the cab toppling over after clipping the wheels of another carriage on the park’s busy loop.

Eyewitnesses said passengers in the back were screaming with terror as the horse shot off on its own, pulling the carriage along with it.

‘The horse got scared and ran super fast,’ Tatianna Bresler, 20, told The New York Post.

‘The immediate reaction was just like ‘oh my god, oh my god my god’ like covering my eyes because I thought maybe someone had gotten smushed or something I couldn’t even imagine, and then I called 911,’ the woman said.

The horse broke away from its driver near West 72nd Street. Video then sees the runaway horse and carriage toppling over close to Tavern on the Green at West 67th Street, after colliding with another carriage.

‘I saw the teenager on the ground by Cherry Hill. He was motionless,’ said 48-year-old pedicab driver Helen David to the New York Daily News.

‘His father was over him. His mother was on the phone, held by her little boy. They were hysterical.’

The horse, a seven-year-old named Sampson, appeared to be uninjured following the incident.

It’s a fraught moment for Central Park’s 150-year-old horse-drawn carriage industry, which is facing the growing threat of a ban from opponents who say the rides are both inhumane to horses and a danger to city residents.

PETA Director Ashley Byrne released a statement in response to Wednesday’s incident.

‘From collapsing horses to careening carriages, how many more disasters have to strike before we get these beleaguered horses out of the park? For everyone’s safety, PETA is calling on council members, Health Committee Chair Lynn Schulman, and Speaker Julie Menin to stop dithering and pass Ryder’s Law immediately.’

Wednesday’s event follows several recent horse-related problems in the park, including the fatal collapse of a horse last week, which died after eating a toxic plant.

The Central Park Conservancy, the nonprofit which operates the park and came out last summer in support of banning horse-drawn carriages, said the back-to-back tragedies should bring an end to the industry.

‘We are absolutely devastated to learn that Romanch Mahajan, the 18-year-old visitor injured in today’s carriage incident, has died,’ the Conservancy wrote.

‘This is the tragedy we feared when we first called last year for horse carriages to be banned from Central Park due to the risks they pose to public safety and public health. A young man came to enjoy our park and lost his life. That is not an acceptable cost of an antiquated industry operating in the middle of one of the most heavily used public spaces in America.

‘We hope today’s injuries are the last we ever see.’

Some animal activist groups, like PETA, have long protested horse-drawn carriage rides in the park, arguing that the animals are put in danger because of nearby car traffic and forced to work in poor conditions, especially in extreme weather.

Last week, a horse named Deniz collapsed and died while giving two people a ride.

According to a report from the Transit Workers Union, the horse had eaten a poisonous shrub and had a medical episode.

The death of the horse coupled with Wednesdays passenger death prompted Council Member Shahana Hanif to speak out.

‘Deniz’s tragic death and the recent carriage crash in Central Park that claimed the life of an 18-year-old are heartbreaking reminders that horse-drawn carriages are unsafe for both horses and people.

‘These incidents are not isolated. We must pass Ryder’s Law, end this outdated industry, and ensure a just transition for workers. New York can and must do better.

Several incidents have reignited a long-running dispute over whether the horses, which have been a favorite of many visitors since Central Park opened in 1858, should be banned

Last August, a carriage horse named Lady also collapsed and died in Hell’s Kitchen, weeks after a New York jury acquitted carriage horse driver Ian McKeever of animal abuse charges for Ryder, a 30-year-old carriage horse who collapsed while on the job and later had to be put down.

A City Council bill from 2024, named for Ryder, would ban the practice altogether, but it didn’t pass.

Councilmember Chris Marte said in a joint statement with Julie Cappiello, the president of Voters for Animal Rights, that he’d reintroduced Ryder’s Law in City Council following Deniz’s collapse.

‘Council Member Marte will introduce Ryder’s Law, legislation to transition New York City away from horse-drawn carriages and toward a safer, more humane future,’ the June 9 statement reads.

‘We cannot allow this to be treated as another isolated incident,’ said fellow Councilman Christopher Marte. ‘The Council must act with the urgency this tragedy demands.’

Marte has has introduced a bill to ban carriages at the end of next year. There are more than 100 carriage horses in Manhattan.

On Wednesday night City Council speaker Julie Menin said the Council would take up Marte’s bill next month.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he thinks that carriage horses should be banned from the park, but has also said he wants to work with the drivers union to protect their jobs and find a solution that appeases both sides.

Mamdani called Wednesday’s death a ‘horrific incident’.

‘I look forward to working with City Council, union partners, carriage drivers, animal welfare advocates and community leaders to deliver a just transition that protects workers while ending horse-drawn carriages in Central Park once and for all,’ the mayor said.

Open Heaven 18 June 2026 – Always Thank God

Open Heaven 18 June 2026 Thursday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Always Thank God

Open Heaven 18 June 2026 TOPIC – Always Thank God

MEMORISE: It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High: – Psalm 92:1 (KJV)

READ: Matthew 15:30-38 (KJV)

30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:

31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 73-77

Open Heaven 18 June 2026 MESSAGE

Years ago, a very wealthy man came to see me and said that he was having trouble sleeping. He also said he was told that if I prayed for him, the problem would be solved. He added that he would give me 14 houses if I prayed for him, and the problem was solved. Of course, he didn’t need to offer me his houses for me to pray for him, but his desperation to be able to sleep made him say so. Being able to sleep is one of the many divine blessings that are often taken for granted until one can no longer sleep or sees people who can’t.

Beloved, you have a lot to thank God for, and living a life of thanksgiving makes you quick to recognise God’s goodness in your life. Even amid challenges, when you are thankful, you will find many reasons to praise God. You will be quick to acknowledge that God is the reason things are not worse. You will also be confident that God is working things out in your favour (Romans 8:28).

When people thank God, He opens the windows of heaven to pour out His blessings upon them. In today’s Bible reading, there were 4,000 hungry men, besides women and children, with Jesus and His disciples. Jesus had compassion on them and wanted to feed them; so, He asked His disciples to tell Him how much food they had. They replied that they had only seven loaves of bread and a few fishes. Despite the obvious inadequacy of the food to feed thousands of people, Jesus gave thanks, broke the bread, and handed them to His disciples to share among the multitude. His first response to the scarcity of resources was to give thanks. Jesus’ heart of gratitude opened the windows of heaven for multiplication, and suddenly, the food that was too little to feed the multitude multiplied so much that everyone was filled, and they were left with seven baskets of leftovers.

Beloved, are you facing any difficult situation? Are you in dire need of resources, help, or a change in the circumstances surrounding your life? Do not despair or complain; rather, give God thanks. Despair or complaints will not multiply the little you have; however, thanksgiving will give you access to the miraculous. I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to see His grace at work in every facet of your life and help you to cultivate a heart of genuine gratitude, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 18 June 2026 KEY POINT

Giving thanks to God releases the miraculous.

Open Heaven 18 June 2026 HYMN 17 – Praise My Soul, The King Of Heaven

1 Praise, my soul, the King of heaven;
to his feet your tribute bring.
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
evermore his praises sing.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King!

2 Praise him for his grace and favor
to his people in distress.
Praise him, still the same as ever,
slow to chide, and swift to bless.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Glorious in his faithfulness!

3 Fatherlike he tends and spares us;
well our feeble frame he knows.
In his hand he gently bears us,
rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Widely yet his mercy flows!

4 Angels, help us to adore him;
you behold him face to face.
Sun and moon, bow down before him,
dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace!

Hanson Positions One Nation as Emerging Anti-Establishment Voice in Contentious Press Club Address

0

In brief

  • Pauline Hanson has delivered her first ever National Press Club speech on Wednesday.
  • Hanson took aim at multiculturalism, immigration and the media.

In a highly anticipated National Press Club address on Wednesday, One Nation leader Pauline Hanson took aim at immigration, multiculturalism, and the media.

Hanson, famous for her critical stance against mainstream politics, appeared in Canberra’s media hub, ready to respond to the press. Her speech was momentarily disrupted when a protester unfurled a yellow banner, challenging her stance on worker pay increases.

As the event host, Tom Connell from Sky News, apologized for the interruption, Hanson quipped, “Is this another first?”

The activist group GetUp! later claimed responsibility for the protest.

The National Press Club clarified that neither its staff nor its contractors were involved in the protest and reported the incident to the Australian Federal Police for further investigation.

The Press Club said it “sincerely apologises” to Hanson for the incident.

“When the investigation has concluded, the Club will consider its legal options against the perpetrators including recovering costs for the significant damage to the media wall/ light box,” the Press Club said in a statement.

In her searing speech pitched to the “bloke in the corner store”, Hanson assured the nation: “I haven’t changed, and neither has One Nation.

“Australians aren’t buying this crap from the political establishment and its media supporters anymore,” she said.

Hanson presented a wide-ranging critique of immigration, housing and climate policy, while putting forward One Nation’s platform to bring all of Australia under one “cultural umbrella”.

Here are the key moments of Hanson’s speech.

Taking aim at multiculturalism

When asked if Hanson thought Australia was in danger of being “swamped by Muslims”, she replied: “Not if I’ve got anything to say about it.”

The audience applauded.

Hanson outlined a plan to restrict immigration from countries that fostered “radical Islam”, echoing US President Donald Trump’s “Muslim ban”, but did not specify which countries would be included.

She further vowed to deport “hate preachers” who had immigrated to Australia. In response to the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, the government moved this year to tighten powers to crack down on so-called “hate preachers.”

Hanson claimed that European nations such as France and Germany were now “s—holes” due to immigration.

“I don’t want Australia to become like that,” she said.

In Europe and the United Kingdom, anti-immigration sentiment has been linked to the rise of far-right populism. Reform UK’s leader Nigel Farage has praised Hanson in the past, telling Sky News in January he admired her “consistency” in politics.

‘Common sense’ Australians

Hanson outlined a number of policies she argued were “common sense”.

“But common sense is not common,” she said.

Among them was linking immigration to the housing crisis, having previously proposed an annual cap of 130,000 migrants as a solution.

Net overseas migration has decreased over the past year, with 306,000 arrivals in the 2024/25 financial year. This was down from 429,000 the previous year.

Experts are divided on whether immigration is the main driver of housing stress in Australia.

Hanson also took aim at renewable energy, promising to introduce nuclear power and cut renewables subsidies if elected.

“Don’t get me wrong. I’m not opposed to renewable energy,” she said.

“But if it’s the saviour of the energy crisis and if it’s profitable, why would the government have to prop it up?”

She also singled out the trans and gender diverse community and late-term abortions as two areas she would consider for further policy, along with sacking Sex Discrimination Commissioner Anna Cody, and the head of the Human Rights Commission, Hugh de Kretser.

“To abort a baby the day before birth is abhorrent and disgusting, and that’s what I oppose,” she said.

“And that’s what many common-sense Australians believe.”

Late-term abortions are highly restricted in Australia, requiring medical approval in most parts of the country. A pregnancy being terminated immediately before birth is extremely rare and typically only happens under exceptional circumstances.

However, Hanson stopped short of committing to abortion bans similar to those introduced in the United States after the overturning of Roe v Wade.

‘The SBS will be gone’

Hanson accused the media of scrutinising One Nation more than other political parties.

“I want truthful, honest reporting from the media,” she said.

Among the policy promises, Hanson vowed to scrap SBS, arguing that the “internet has overtaken the need for it”.

“Sky News is great to look for news.”

An SBS spokesperson said the broadcaster “does not provide commentary on the policies of political parties, consistent with our obligations as an impartial public broadcaster”.

SBS provides Australian news in more than 60 languages as part of its charter of providing essential information to post-war migrant communities in languages other than English.

Meanwhile, Hanson said the ABC would move to a subscription-only service, only receiving public funds to operate in regional and remote areas.

She proposed the savings would be used to benefit Australians, but did not specify where the money would be directed.

The ABC and SBS both have legislative frameworks that govern their charter and existence and parliamentary approval would be required to change those acts.

Hanson also singled out a Guardian Australia journalist, who asked a question about the appointment of Hanson’s daughter as a political adviser for One Nation.

“I’ve never seen a person that’s such a trashy journalist,” she said.

Colombia Overcomes Uzbekistan Challenge with 3-1 Victory in World Cup Debut Clash in Mexico City

0

For years, Colombia has been perceived as the underdog in South American football, especially in the context of the World Cup.

Despite their persistent efforts, they’ve never quite broken into the elite circle dominated by Brazil, with its five World Cup victories, Argentina with four, and Uruguay with two.

On a couple of occasions, Colombia entered the tournament with high expectations. During the first World Cup held in the United States, the team faced a heartbreaking moment when their revered captain, Andres Escobar, accidentally scored an own goal against the USA, ultimately pushing Colombia to the bottom of their group and leading to their exit.

Tragically, this mistake cost Escobar dearly upon his return to Colombia, where he was tragically shot six times in a car park in Medellin, a city once infamous as a hub for drug trafficking.

Another time, when Colombia seemed poised to make a deep run in the tournament, they encountered Brazil—a formidable opponent that halted their progress.

The Colombians were forced to work extremely hard for their win in Mexico City

The Colombians were forced to work extremely hard for their win in Mexico City

Now they are back at the top table. Not as one of the favourites but regarded by some here as dark horses.

Undeterred by tragedies past. Back with tens of thousands of the millions for whom the passion for football never dies.

Back with a decent team given star power by two men who sampled the pressure game on Merseyside. Captain James Rodriguez whose spectacular goals, a few for Everton, made him a contender for best footballer in the world for a while. At 34 can he work the genius one last time? We are finding out.

Luis Diaz set Anfield alight at times. Though not always. Liverpool let him go. Bayern Munich grabbed him and he has the chance here to validate a widening perception of him as the best winger in the world.

Uzbekistan did not come to Guadalajara expected to provide the severest litmus test for those propositions. But they have been reorganised into a resistance movement by a legend of catenaccio defence. Fabio Cannavaro captained Italy to one of their World Cup glories in 2006.

He has led the Uzbeks to this World Cup debut. The odds were always against him taking them much further but he does have one good young ‘un and one good old’un as the backbone of his side. At 22 Abdukodir Khusanov is already a powerful fixture in Manchester City’s defence and an Uzbek national hero.

At the veteran end of the football age scale stands Eldor Shamurodov, the even more idolised captain, playmaker and all-time leading goalscorer.

Could they put Colombia through enough of their paces to bed them into a momentous World Cup? Well, not in a first half when they were overrun.

Not with Colombia raising their sights to new horizons. As they grew into the game the South Americans were unlucky on the half hour not to seize the lead their football deserved as a fierce cross shot from Jhon Aris thundered back off a post and over a flailing goalkeeper.

Jaminton Campaz headed Colombia's third goal deep into stoppage time

Ten minutes later they were not so lucky. James the lad split their defence asunder with a lacerating pass which was topped off by an even more exquisite finish. By a Crystal Palace defender, no less. Daniel Munoz came from nowhere, rotated his right foot behind his side in mid-air and steered it home with the outside of his flying boot.

A goal of the tournament contender worthy to be judged alongside a couple of Messi magicals. Then, after only 55 minutes, the Colombian mistake.

They went into keep ball. Threw away possession, went from dashing to dull. Paid the price only five minutes later when Abdulla Abdulsaev equalised. The swings in style and the score kept coming. Another five minutes along came not the number ten bus but a brilliant in off the post effort by Diaz to restore Colombia’s advantage,

Then they went to sleep again. It was almost World Cup USA 1 all over again. Three times the Uzbeks came within a wood splinter of another equaliser.

A leaping header from Jaminton Campaz made it what should have been a comfortable 3-1. Just as well because as Colombia went walkabout again their crossbar was rattled.

Colombia have the talent to change their World Cup fortunes but only if someone tells them that today’s football is always at full throttle.

They call themselves The Coffee Growers. A pity they keep turning down the gas as they are coming to the brew.

Jeanine Pirro Blasts ‘Dirtbags’ Behind Shocking Cocaine Ring Bust Near Schoolyard – 14 Charged!

In a separate case, 14 individuals have been indicted for participating in a cocaine trafficking ring that operated brazenly near a Washington, D.C., elementary school. According to federal prosecutors, this drug operation took place openly in front of children during daylight hours, effectively creating an open-air drug market.

The federal indictment accuses each of the 14 defendants of conspiring to distribute significant quantities of cocaine base and powder cocaine within a 1,000-foot radius of Hendley Elementary School, located in the Washington Highlands neighborhood—a region grappling with high crime rates.

The illicit drug sales frequently occurred as school-aged children walked to and from school, subjecting them to continuous exposure to illegal activities and potentially normalizing such dangerous behavior, federal prosecutors reported.

“This is poison being sold in broad daylight within mere feet of a schoolyard where children are supposed to learn, play, and develop,” U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro stated to the press. “Selling cocaine in proximity to schools is not just unlawful; it represents a direct threat to the most vulnerable members of our community. It puts our children at risk.”

More than a dozen people connected to a drug trafficking operation in the city have been arrested and charged, the Justice Department said. (Justice Department)

“It destroys families, and it fuels the violence and the chaos in the district that we have suffered for far too long,” she added.

The suspects, who were arrested Wednesday as part of a two-year operation, were identified as Tevin Moody, 32; Geraldo Landy, 38; Norman Moore, 36; Lenon Wright, 34; Ali McShay, 31; Lonnell Thomas, 27; Marquette Paris, 34; Jeremiah Prince, 21; Joseph Moore, 43; Raekwon Womak, 21; Kivarrie Greene, 22; De’Lonte Jackson, 32; Derrick Manuel, 34; and 25-year-old Malik Heard.

In addition to the drug charges, Kivarrie Greene is also charged with unlawful possession of firearms.

Throughout the investigation, authorities executed multiple search warrants at locations associated with the suspects and recovered 28 firearms, the Justice Department said. Agents also recovered 2.4 kilograms of crack cocaine, one kilogram of powder cocaine, 29 grams of fentanyl and 12 pounds of marijuana.

“They have access to illicit drugs. They have access to firearms,” said Christopher Goumenis, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent-in-Charge for the agency’s Washington Division. “They’re violent criminals, and most of them are recidivists in these communities.”

On Wednesday, authorities executed 19 search warrants and made 20 arrests across Washington, D.C., and Maryland of members of a violent street gang that operated on 4th Street, the FBI said. The crew engaged in the trafficking of guns and drugs like fentanyl and cocaine, authorities said.

Along with other neighborhood-based street crews, they are the primary drivers of violence in the city, officials said, noting that they have committed a litany of crimes, including armed carjackings, shootings, robberies and murder.

In one image released by the Justice Department, a woman is shown accompanied by a 5-year-old girl while purchasing cocaine before taking the child by her hand and walking off, Pirro said.

“Now, as far as I’m concerned, that’s a crime,” Pirro said. “It’s one thing to have a prosecution of dirtbags who were selling drugs in the area of schools, 1,000 feet from a damn elementary school. It’s a whole other level of crime, as far as I’m concerned, for this woman to bring a child to a cocaine sale and then walk along with the child while she’s got the drugs on her.”

Pirro said she plans to ask the City Council to enact a law to address child endangerment, which she noted the city currently lacks.

Authorities observed at least 165 drug buys during the course of the operation, Pirro said. She added that she was optimistic authorities will make a difference in D.C. communities plagued by crime and drugs, given the scope of the arrests.

Rory McIlroy and US Open Golfers Share Passionate World Cup Insights

0

The excitement of the World Cup has permeated nearly every corner of the United States, even reaching the serene east end of Long Island, where the prestigious U.S. Open is unfolding at Shinnecock Hills.

As top golfers from around the globe vie for one of the sport’s coveted major titles, the World Cup serves as a captivating diversion.

This week, Rory McIlroy expressed his delight that Scotland is participating in the World Cup this year, noting that the tournament has played a crucial role in helping him maintain focus as he prepares for the U.S. Open.

“It’s great to have it on, especially this week. It’s a wonderful way to unwind. After a day on the golf course, it’s refreshing to switch on the football and take a break from thinking about golf,” McIlroy remarked.

Even World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has been catching matches, despite admitting that he isn’t the biggest soccer enthusiast.

“I pretty much save all my sports for football. I actually really enjoyed watching the NBA Finals the last few weeks, as well,” he said, referencing the 4-1 series victory that handed the Knicks their first NBA title in 53 years. “I think, if you’re a fan of sport, which I am, you pretty much have to get into the World Cup. I’ve been able to watch a bit. Not as much as I’d hoped to, but I’m definitely paying attention.”

McIlroy is seeking his first U.S. Open title since he won back in 2011, while Scheffler will look to complete the career Grand Slam by winning the lone major he has yet to be victorious at.

The U.S. Women’s Open at Shinnecock Hills may still be 10 years away, but the United States Golf Association expressed excitement over where the women’s game is headed over the next decade before it arrives on the east end of Long Island.

The exciting tournament at historic Riviera Country Club was punctuated by star Nelly Korda coming away with a one-stroke victory over Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez.

“Riviera was a huge stage for the women’s game, and we were super proud of it,” USGA CEO Mike Whan said Wednesday. “It was an amazing experience. If you believe what you saw at Riv makes sense, I can only imagine what the next 10 years is going to be.”

The USGA and R&A announced in a joint statement with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour that they would be taking another look at how they’re approaching upcoming distance rollback measures.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the parties jointly agreed that golf does have a distance issue, “the updated ODS testing approach may not achieve the desired results,” and a “collective willingness to reconsider alternative approaches” to the issue.

DCLM Daily Manna 18 June 2026 — On The Move for Christ

DCLM Daily Manna 18 June 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — On The Move for Christ

TOPIC: On The Move for Christ (DCLM Daily Manna 18 June 2026)

KEY VERSE: And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord – Acts 9:35

TEXT: Acts 9:35-43 (KJV)

35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.

43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

English churchman of the 18th Century, John Wesley, travelled over 250,000 miles throughout the British Isles and beyond to deliver the gospel of Christ to multitudes who braved the elements to hear him. They responded to Wesley’s own scant consideration for personal comfort in the quest to fulfil the demand of the great commission. Active till 1791 when he died, the evangelist journeyed largely on horseback in a hectic annual schedule that took him through craggy mountainous regions, valleys, plains and riverine territories.

Several centuries before Wesley, Apostle Peter had demonstrated that obeying Christ’s commandment to tell the world about Him was not a stationary or closet affair. It entailed the strategy of a peripatetic lifestyle. Peter left Jerusalem and “passed throughout all quarters.” He followed in the footsteps of his Master, “who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” The apostle’s trips were packed with stunning outcomes: edification of the saints, healing a bedridden man, bringing back to life a dead woman and leading crowds to Christ.

Reassuringly, the principles of effective evangelism laid down by our Lord that worked for Peter and Wesley are still standing tall and beckoning today’s believers who desire to snatch sinners from the path of perdition they are treading. The Lord did not entertain inaction; nor did He brook a monastic lifestyle. He sought fresh ventures to preach in new frontiers. Unafraid of obstacles, Jesus moved from place to place to teach, heal and bring hope to the lost. He knew He had limited time. So He optimised scarce resources.

In our age marked by the closeness of Christ’s Second Coming and the deluge of false doctrines, the Church and genuine followers of Christ must leave their cosy corners and mount aggressive great commission campaigns everywhere. It must be a global blitzkrieg taking place in communities, neighbourhoods and nations over all strata of the media. We must dominate the social sphere with loud proclamation that Christ is the answer to the crisis threatening to devour man.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
We need Christ’s unfailing evangelism fervour to win the lost for heaven
