Authorities Report: Daughter Allegedly Assists Boyfriend in Fatal Assault on Mother

A Nebraska woman, alongside her boyfriend, has been accused of murdering her mother by restraining her while he suffocated the victim with a sock, following a heated dispute over a grandchild, authorities report.

The incident occurred during a Saturday barbecue hosted by the couple, Samantha Neiber, 25, and Mason Clarke, 30, at their residence in Elkhorn, Nebraska. The altercation, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office announcement, escalated when Samantha’s mother, Jennifer Neiber, clashed with Clarke about Samantha’s child. This account was also detailed in a statement to Law&Crime.

“What began as a verbal disagreement quickly turned physical, ending with Clarke inserting a sock into Jennifer’s mouth as Samantha restrained her wrists,” the report states. “Jennifer was declared dead at the scene by Omaha Fire Department medical responders.”

Investigators assert that the conflict arose because 57-year-old Jennifer Neiber was troubled by matters concerning Samantha’s 3-year-old child, who is not related to Clarke.

“Following the child’s bedtime, Jennifer engaged in a dispute with Clarke concerning the young one,” the sheriff’s office reported.

Deputies responded to the home where the family was at around 10 p.m. after receiving a call about a “suspicious death.” They arrived at the scene and located two individuals, Clarke and Samantha Neiber, “sitting on a bed,” with Jennifer Neiber dead on the floor in front of them.

Clarke was interviewed by police and then arrested on suspicion of child abuse by neglect without injury and second-degree murder. Samantha Neiber was arrested and charged with accessory to a Class I felony and child abuse by neglect without injury.

The child in question was transported and temporarily placed with a local domestic abuse and child advocacy center known as Project Harmony. It’s unclear what happened to spark the alleged argument between Clarke and Jennifer Neiber. He and Samantha Neiber are being held at the Douglas County Correctional Center in Omaha.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Wife Face DOJ Investigation: Details Unveiled

0

California Governor Gavin Newsom recently announced that he has become the newest target on former President Donald Trump’s political “hit list.”

In a social media post, the 58-year-old governor shared that he and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, 51, are under investigation by the Department of Justice.

“Today, my wife & I joined Donald Trump’s hit list,” the Democrat declared online. “He has ordered his Department of Justice to investigate us. They haven’t uncovered a crime – they are simply searching for one.”

Newsom emphasized that the scrutiny isn’t due to his critical tweets, but rather because he is contemplating a presidential run.

In a nearly five-minute video, Newsom elaborated on how he believes he is being targeted due to his potential candidacy for the 2028 presidential election.

The Democrat, who claimed in the video that he has nothing to hide, did not explain what the DOJ was probing.

The White House referred the Daily Mail’s request for comment to the DOJ. The Justice Department has been contacted for comment.

‘He’s coming after my wife, Jen, a public servant, a woman who’s dedicated her life to supporting women and girls, someone who has done nothing wrong other than having the temerity to advocate for what she believes in,’ the governor says in the clip. ‘If they can’t intimidate me, they’ll go after the mother of our children.’

The couple have four children together – Montana, 16, Hunter, 14, Brooklyn, 12, and Dutch, ten.

Newsom claims that in recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors of his family, friends, and former employers.

‘They’re demanding records, they’re abusing the grand jury process, digging through years and years of random documents,’ Newsom says in the video address.

‘Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean tweets, he’s coming after me because I’m considering running for president,’ Newsom adds.

In a defiant tone, the Democrat calls on Trump to subpoena his documents and focus on him instead of his wife. Newsom called the action a ‘personal vendetta.’

Though it is unclear what the investigation pertains to, Trump and his administration have long spoken about fraud in California.

There are multiple federal investigations underway regarding the governor, a person with knowledge of the probe told the Daily Mail.

One of those is looking into Jennifer Newsom’s finances, the source added, noting that the investigations were initiated by California-based federal law enforcement officials.

Government witnesses in California are providing federal investigators with information on the case, and the source noted the probe was not launched by Washington-based officials, the source added. The investigations have been ongoing for over a year.

The Representation Project claims to fight ‘sexism with social impact films,’ according to the group’s site.

The California Partners Project ‘champions gender equity across the state and ensures our state’s media and technology industries are a force for good in the lives of all children,’ according to the website.

Ex-employees of the California First Lady’s nonprofits are among those who have been questioned by federal agents, according to the California governor’s office.

Directing a message to his wife Jennifer, Newsom said in the video: ‘You have not earned a single one of the indignities that he’s trying to inflict on you and our children.’

‘I love you, and I’m sorry he’s doing this,’ Newsom tells his wife.

In an appeal to Trump, Newsom remarked: ‘This country does not belong to you, does not belong to your cronies, and we’re going to fight your lawlessness, and we’re going to continue to remind the people of this country of your corruption.’

‘Mr President, come after me. I’m not going anywhere, and the country is watching,’ Newsom says in closing.

England Team Surprises by Renting Controversial Plane for World Cup Journey

0

No one eagerly anticipates boarding this particular aircraft—unless, of course, you’re an English soccer star needing a lift to Kansas City.

The Euro 2024 finalists arrived in Missouri on Saturday, opting for a charter plane over private jets. Interestingly, this plane is part of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fleet known as ‘ICE Air’.

The charter company, GlobalX, formerly known as Global Crossing Airlines, holds a contract with ICE. This same aircraft has been used previously to transport deportees to countries such as Haiti, Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.

Despite this, England’s footballers, including Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice, seemed unfazed as they posed for a team photo on the tarmac in front of the plane. The mood was certainly more cheerful compared to a starkly different scene involving the same aircraft.

A video released in March last year depicted a far grimmer scenario. It showed prisoners being forcibly removed from the plane by heavily armed Salvadoran police, then herded onto buses bound for CECOT, El Salvador’s notorious mega-prison.

The flights caused huge controversy at the time, with the planes taking off from ICE’s Harlingen, Texas, base even as a legal fight to stop them was underway.

Among the deportees on board the planes was Kilmar Ábrego García, now 31, who became a cause célèbre on the left after being dragged back to his native El Salvador in defiance of a court order that said he couldn’t be sent there.

Garcia, who the Trump administration claimed was a member of notorious Salvadoran gang MS-13, was eventually brought back to the US and is currently fighting against being deported to a third country.

As the plane England used made its way back to its home base in Miami, other GlobalX planes were flying their regular routes with flight tracking apps showing two headed to Cap Hatien in Haiti from Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Another was headed back from Guatemala City to Alexandria, Louisiana, where ICE operates a 400-bed staging facility for deportees.

The plane England flew was routinely used for deportation flights and rarely takes the altogether more glamorous route from swank Palm Beach to Kansas City.

Flight tracking history shows the jet made a string of deportation flights in the days leading up to England’s ride, with the plane used to shuttle deportees from Lewisburg, West Virginia, to Mexico City on June 11 and from Harlingen to Villahermosa in Mexico’s southern Tabasco state on June 10.

The Iran World Cup team also flew on the same plane from their base in Tijuana, Mexico, to Los Angeles on Sunday ahead of their opening game against New Zealand. From Los Angeles, it flew back to Alexandria.

The English Football Association, which booked the England flight, is notoriously woke and has jumped on most progressive bandwagons. Harry Kane was among the captains determined to wear a Pride armband at the last World Cup in Qatar until the English FA backed down after their star man was threatened with a yellow card if he did.

A spokesman declined to comment on the team’s use of the plane when contacted by Daily Mail.

England had been based in Palm Beach, Florida, while making their final preparations for the tournament which culminated in a 3-0 exhibition match victory over Costa Rica on June 10.

The team hit a snafu last week when thieves targeted the Kansas City training camp, stealing $18,000 of equipment.

Boots belonging to the team’s biggest stars were pinched along with official tournament balls and key training equipment.

The stolen equipment was recovered and two men were arrested this week.

They are among the favorites for World Cup glory and will be based in Kansas City for the tournament, although their group matches are in Dallas, Boston and New Jersey.

As a result, the English Football Association will need to continue to charter planes for the duration, with the closest venue – Dallas – over an hour’s flight away from the team’s base.

The Three Lions start their campaign in the Texan metropolis on Wednesday when they are scheduled to face Croatia in the opening game of Group L.

Joe Alwyn and Sarah Pidgeon Share a Kiss in NYC, Fueling Romance Speculations

Rumors are swirling about a budding romance between Joe Alwyn and Sarah Pidgeon.

The 35-year-old star of “Hamnet” and the 29-year-old actress known for her role in “Love Story” were recently seen sharing an intimate evening in Brooklyn. Photos captured by Page Six on Saturday, June 13, reveal the couple nestled together, sharing kisses and enjoying drinks. The images paint a picture of a cozy evening filled with affection.

Sarah Pidgeon was dressed casually yet elegantly in a white tank top, jeans, and ballet flats. Meanwhile, Joe Alwyn opted for a relaxed look with a black T-shirt, light-wash jeans, and sneakers. As they wandered through the city streets, laughter was a constant companion, adding to the evening’s charm.

The delightful outing reportedly stretched over several hours, hinting at a deepening connection between the two.

This recent sighting isn’t the first time the pair have fueled dating speculation. Just last week, they were seen together in Brooklyn’s Fort Greene neighborhood, further igniting interest in their potential romance.

What Joe Alwyn Has Been Up to Post Taylor Swift Split 784

Joe Alwyn has been keeping a low profile since his split from Taylor Swift was confirmed in April 2023. While Swift, 34, continued her Eras Tour, enjoyed outings with pals including Blake Lively, Selena Gomez and Sophie Turner, and sparked a new romance with boyfriend Travis Kelce, Alwyn, 33, remained the man of few words […]

Us Weekly reached out to reps for Alwyn and Pidgeon for comment.

Prior to his rumored romance with Pidgeon, Alwyn most notably dated Taylor Swift from 2016 to 2023. Several songs off Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department album, including “So Long, London” and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” are believed to be about their breakup.

“I went through two breakups in the first half of this tour and that’s a lot of breakups, actually,” Swift, 36, said in her 2025 Disney+ Eras tour docuseries, The End of an Era. (Following her split from Alwyn, Swift was briefly linked to Matty Healy in 2023.)

For his part, Alwyn addressed the breakup in a 2024 interview with the London Times.

“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he said at the time.

Joe Alwyn Doesn't Speak 'Poorly' of Ex Taylor Swift After Split and 'Tortured Poets Department' Release

Joe Alwyn has officially bid so long to Taylor Swift. A source told People that the actor, 33, is “dating and happy” one year after he and Swift, 34, ended their six-year-long relationship. “He’s a great guy and not into drama in any way,” the insider added. Having “moved on” from Swift, the source told […]

Alwyn, who is notoriously private, added that their high-profile relationship was “a hard thing to navigate.”

“You have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition,” he continued. “And the truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that.”

Swift has since moved on with fiancé Travis Kelce, whom she began dating in the summer of 2023. The pair got engaged in August 2025 and are expected to tie the knot this summer.

Like Alwyn, Pidgeon has kept her relationships private. She has not confirmed any public romances.

Labor’s Tax Reforms: Senate Inquiry Debates Impact on Housing Supply and Market Dynamics

0

IN BRIEF

  • Business groups and social housing advocates have appeared at the first of two days of a Senate inquiry.
  • The inquiry, which has been criticised for its length, is examining the government’s proposed tax reforms.

Amid the growing popularity of One Nation, both the government and the Coalition are facing challenges. Meanwhile, a Senate inquiry is underway, hearing mixed reactions to the tax reforms proposed in Labor’s latest budget.

During the initial day of a two-day Senate inquiry, representatives from business groups and social housing advocates presented their perspectives on the proposed changes to negative gearing and the capital gains tax (CGT) discount.

Matt Grudnoff, a senior economist with the progressive think tank, the Australia Institute, believes these reforms could potentially open up the housing market for younger Australians.

Addressing the inquiry, Grudnoff explained that while young people might not feel the impact of higher taxes, they would certainly notice if house prices, which have steadily increased over past decades, began to stabilize.

“As their incomes grow annually, they’ll find housing increasingly affordable,” he noted. “Instead of resigning to the idea of never owning a home, they’ll start to believe it’s attainable, seeing a path toward homeownership.”

Meanwhile, the housing industry continued to express opposition to the reforms, with the Property Council of Australia saying the government had yet to make the case that the changes would be “supply positive”.

“Current conditions make it risky to introduce tax changes that Treasury and industry modelling both indicate will reduce housing supply,” the group said in its submission to the inquiry.

The federal government says the measures will help an additional 75,000 Australians buy their first home in the next 10 years, although the tax changes in isolation would result in 35,000 fewer homes being built.

A slight reduction in supply was a worthwhile trade-off for reducing housing inequality, said National Housing Supply and Affordability Council chair Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz.

Under the changes, the 50 per cent discount for capital gains tax will be replaced with a rate tied to inflation and a 30 per cent minimum, while negative gearing will be limited to new houses only from July 2027.

The National Housing Supply and Affordability Council expressed support for the government’s decision that investors retain access to the “full benefits of negative gearing and the 50 per cent CGT discount” on new builds.

In its inquiry submission, it said the move was in line with its position that housing supply be a key consideration in the design of tax reforms.

Independent economist Saul Eslake said that, while he had reservations about some aspects of the proposal, other criticisms of the changes were unwarranted.

“I’m never one to let the perfect, in my eyes, be the enemy of the good, and I think that the changes that the government has proposed would be an improvement,” Eslake told the Senate committee hearing.

The former Treasury economist argued the 30 per cent minimum tax rate on capital gains should be scrapped, the pre-1999 system of income averaging for capital gains be brought back, and a carve-out for start-ups should be applied.

While some of the concerns expressed about the reforms were legitimate, Eslake said the government should not yield to others motivated by nothing more than a desire to retain the favourable tax treatment they had received for decades.

However, the changes were characterised by the Property Council as an additional burden in a sector already facing onerous taxation.

“Housing is already highly taxed. On the cost of a new home, up to 40 cents in every dollar is attributable to taxes and charges across the three tiers of government,” the group’s submission read.

Property Council CEO Mike Zorbas told the inquiry on Monday that the government’s plan would “increase that investment burden on property businesses, large and small, in turn hurting consumers”.

The treasurer’s mid-year economic roundtable last year “appears to have been largely a tax hike forum,” he added.

Two-day inquiry criticised as ‘stitch-up’

The government has also been criticised over the length of the inquiry, with some saying two days is not enough for reforms that will have major consequences for the country’s economy.

Opposition leader Angus Taylor said the inquiry process was a “stitch-up” and the government was avoiding a genuine debate.

Business Council of Australia chief executive Bran Black said: “We’ve got effectively 22 days of inquiry with respect to these reforms, and yet about a year ago we had nine months of inquiry into the question as to whether or not we should remove nuisance tariffs on mushrooms, yarn and horsehair”.

“More time is required in order to consider them properly,” he said.

The Senate inquiry is expected to report back next week, and Labor has said it wants the changes passed by July 2, when parliament rises for the winter break, but the passage of the laws is not guaranteed.

The Coalition has come out against the measures, while the Greens are yet to indicate whether they will back the reforms through the Senate.

Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino said talks were still taking place with small businesses on potential concessions to the tax arrangements.

Father of Austin Metcalf Blasts Ex-Frisco Schools Leader as ‘Spineless’ in Karmelo Anthony Graduation Controversy

0

Jeff Metcalf, the father of the slain teenager, has openly expressed his discontent, particularly directing his frustration towards the former superintendent of the Frisco Independent School District in Texas. His son, Austin, met a tragic end at the hands of Carmelo Anthony in April 2025. Anthony, found guilty of murder, received a 35-year prison sentence for the brutal stabbing that took place during a high school track meet.

In the days following the highly publicized verdict, Jeff Metcalf has been vocal about his pain and dismay, making his voice heard in the public sphere. He continues to speak out, determined to honor his son’s memory and confront the disturbing actions of those who mock his loss.

Days after the viral verdict, Metcalf has been voicing his grief and frustrations publicly.

Metcalf told News Media he believes the school system and its leader mishandled his son’s case, the aftermath of his murder, and how Frisco went about dealing with Anthony’s ability to graduate.

Addressing former superintendent Mike Waldrip, he said he “folded like a cheap tent under pressure,” from Anthony supporters pushing Frisco ISD to allow him to still graduate despite the allegations against him at the time of his graduation last year.

In a recent interview with Rumble podcast “JinxedSip,” the grieving father again went after Waldrip and said he was “the most spineless, coward piece of —- I’ve ever met in my entire life,” TMZ reported.

Metcalf also expressed his anger at the fact that Waldrip allowed Anthony to graduate high school after the stabbing.

“He didn’t go back to school after April 2. He might have had the credit, he might have had the grades, but you still have the ability to deny the diploma,” he said to News Media.

He told News Media that Anthony should not have been allowed to graduate based on attendance as he says the killer never returned to school following the stabbing.

TMZ reported, “Jeff argued that Karmelo shouldn’t have been able to graduate because he says the school handbook allegedly declares murder to be grounds for ‘mandatory expulsion.’”

Anthony was convicted of murder more than a year after he fatally stabbed Metcalf.

Jeff Metcalf also told News Media the school system didn’t have strong enough security at the fateful track meet.

He said, “They didn’t have metal detectors that the athletes went through, they didn’t have proper security. I mean, I can go on and on. They were negligent in this.”

Waldrip was the school system’s superintendent during the time that Metcalf was killed. Frisco ISD announced his retirement in November 2025, more than six months after the murder.

News Media has reached out to Waldrip and Frisco ISD for comment on Metcalf’s claims.

Breaking News: ICE Agent Involved in Shooting Incident in Ocean County, NJ

0

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, New Jersey — A federal immigration officer was involved in a dramatic incident on Monday when he was hit by a vehicle while trying to detain an individual in New Jersey, according to local law enforcement.

In response to being struck, the agent discharged his firearm, potentially hitting the vehicle as it fled the scene, reported the Stafford Township Police Department in an official statement.

“The agent sustained injuries, the extent of which are currently unknown,” police noted, adding that the condition of the driver remains unclear. “There is no indication that the public is at risk,” they assured.

Images shared online captured the moment with the agent masked and seated on the ground, leaning against a car bumper before emergency services placed him on a stretcher.

The altercation took place along Route 72 in the Manahawkin area of Stafford Township, situated approximately 60 miles east of Philadelphia.

ICE identified the suspect in a statement.

“On June 15, 2026, ICE law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Manahawkin, New Jersey to arrest Friedrich Castillo-Ormeno, an illegal alien from Peru who was released into our country under the Biden administration. He was given a final order of removal by an immigration judge on January 30, 2026,” a spokesperson said. “ICE law enforcement officers attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The driver then weaponized his vehicle and struck an officer resulting in the officer discharging his weapon. The driver fled the scene and remains at-large.”

There is no universal training standard for law enforcement to shoot at a moving vehicle. But most police departments and federal guidance bar shooting unless the driver poses an imminent threat of deadly force beyond the car itself.

In Senatobia, Mississippi, a child died Sunday when a police officer responding to a shoplifting call at a Walmart fired at a moving vehicle. As police tried to stop the vehicle, the driver almost hit an officer, according to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

An ICE agent in Minneapolis fatally shot Renee Good, a U.S. citizen, in January. The government said the agent’s safety was at risk, but video showed Good had turned the front wheels and was driving away from him after blocking a street with her SUV.

Real Estate Tycoon Kent Swig Evicted Over $450K Unpaid Rent Dispute

0

Kent Swig, a well-known name in the real estate sector, is once again in search of a new office space after allegations emerged that he failed to pay nearly $500,000 in rent for the headquarters of his upscale firm, Helmsley Spear.

Swig, who was once entrenched in New York’s elite real estate circles, has notable family ties. He was married to Liz Macklowe, daughter of renowned developer Harry Macklowe, and is the grandson of Benjamin H. Swig. His impressive portfolio once included ownership of renowned commercial real estate companies Brown Harris Stevens and Halstead Property.

However, Swig’s fortunes took a downturn following the 2008 financial crisis, compounded by a contentious divorce from Liz Macklowe. Swig has alleged that his former father-in-law, Harry Macklowe, sought to undermine him post-divorce.

Recently, on June 2, Swig faced eviction from his Midtown office at 747 Third Avenue. According to a source familiar with the situation, a city marshal intervened, leading to the abrupt eviction. “The marshal came in and physically removed them, and their belongings are still in the office,” the source reported.

Adding to the turmoil, it’s reported that Swig received notice of the eviction a day in advance but did not inform his staff. “There are about 50 employees. The marshal arrived at noon, giving them just 30 minutes to gather their belongings before the premises were sealed,” the source explained. Swig, however, disputes the claim that the eviction was a surprise to his employees.

Swig moved the headquarters of his real estate company to the location in 2024, two years after he was sued for allegedly not paying rent at a previous location. In that case, investment firm Lincoln International sought more than $342 million in missed payments at 444 Madison Avenue, according to Commercial Observer.

This time, we’re told he allegedly owes over $450,000. Swig didn’t address the figure when we reached out on Monday, but described the account of what transpired during last week’s eviction as “inaccurate” via a spokesperson for Helmsley Spear.

“We were engaged in good-faith negotiations with the sublandlord to resolve this matter. However, the sublandlord never responded to my final proposal, abruptly ended discussions, and proceeded with moving forward to move us out of our space,” they said.

The spokesperson confirmed the company was only given 24 hours’ warning, but disputed that employees were left in the dark. “We immediately notified all staff and provided them time to gather their files and personal belongings,” they said.

“Had we known earlier that the sublandlord intended to move about rather than continue negotiations, we would have moved out in a more orderly process,” they added.

Swig, whose real estate empire includes Brown Harris Stevens and Halstead Property, suffered several business misfortunes from the 2008 recession that he doesn’t seem to have been able to fully recover from. During his messy divorce from Macklowe, he accused her real estate titan father of pulling the strings and trying to financially destroy him.

The divorce battle forced Swig to give up his $22 million apartment at 740 Park Avenue, which was once dubbed the richest building in America. In 2025, Crains New York reported he was facing foreclosure on a Tribeca development after defaulting on three mortgages backed by the project. Despite the neverending lawsuits and financial setbacks, Swig somehow remains in the game. He currently has his eyes set on reviving Greenport in Long Island’s North Fork, he told real estate news site The Real Deal last month.

In the meantiime. back in Manhattan, he told us, “Helmsley Spear is currently arranging for a new office space.”

Massive Fraud Bust: Over 20 Minneapolis Businesses Raided by Agents

0

In a sweeping operation, federal authorities have targeted more than 20 businesses in Minneapolis linked to the Somali community, including a learning center previously embroiled in fraud allegations earlier this year.

Agents from Homeland Security Investigations conducted the raids in collaboration with state and local law enforcement personnel throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul.

A spokesperson for the Justice Department stated to several media outlets, “Today, the FBI, in conjunction with federal, state, and local law enforcement, is executing court-approved enforcement actions as part of an ongoing fraud inquiry.”

Despite the federal activities, the City of Minneapolis clarified in a statement that its police department had not been requested to partake in the execution of these federal search warrants.

“The City of Minneapolis is not participating in the federal operations reported across Minnesota today, and as of 9:30 a.m., the MPD has not been solicited to assist with carrying out federal warrants,” the city announced.

‘We understand that any federal actions in our neighborhoods may spark fear among residents, and we will continue to marshal City resources to help the community in the aftermath of Operation Metro Surge.’

Sources Say Around 22 Businesses Raided

Sources told Fox News that around 22 businesses were raided, including the Quality Learning Center, which went viral for a misspelled sign amid allegations of fraud among Somali-owned daycares in the area.

The center gained nationwide attention in December when conservative YouTuber Nick Shirley shared a viral video accusing the daycare of receiving public funds without providing a service.

Shirley’s video prompted a wave of allegations against other Somali-owned daycares in Minneapolis and caught the attention of federal agents.

The daycare center denied the allegations at the time, but closed in January pending a license review, according to the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

Local CNN affiliate KARE reported that the raids targeted businesses that received Medicaid, primarily child and daycare providers.

Sources told KARE that the raids were not linked to federal immigration enforcement operations.

Raid Comes Months After Operation Metro Surge

A CBS News crew also reported federal agents at the Mini Childcare Center, another location featured in Shirley’s video. The raid did not lead to any arrests, according to CBS.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Department of Justice for more information on the raid.

The raid comes months after Operation Metro Surge, a federal immigration crackdown across the Twin Cities that resulted in around 4,000 arrests and two fatal shootings by immigration officers of US citizens.

The Department of Homeland Security later dubbed the operation the ‘largest immigration enforcement operation ever.’

The Twin Cities are home to the US’s largest Somali community. President Donald Trump said Somalis were ‘completely taking over’ Minnesota and accused the community of widespread fraud, which prompted the massive, unprecedented immigration enforcement operation.

The state was already under a microscope for fraudulent activity following the Feeding Our Future scandal.

The Minnesota-based nonprofit had received $244 million from federal nutrition programs to feed low-income chidlren and senior citizens between 2018 and 2021.

Dozens Connected to Feeding Our Future Were Convicted

Feeding Our Future received an influx of federal funds during the Covid-19 pandemic when the US Department of Agriculture waived some regulations for nutrition programs.

Prosecutors found that the nonprofit had been using the funds for personal use, and over 63 individuals connected to Feeding Our Future were convicted on fraudulent charges, many of whom were of Somali descent.

The founder and ringleader of the scheme, however, was a white woman named Aimee Bock.

After Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was named as Kamala Harris’ running mate in 2024, Republicans accused him of allowing widespread fraud in the state.

Walz created a new centralized fraud investigation unit last January in response to the allegations; however, the state continued to be a magnet for fraud allegations from the Trump administration.

Shirley Shares ‘Investigation’ Into Fraud Allegations

First Assistant US Attorney Joe Thompson announced in December that federal authorities estimated that fraud in Minnesota Medicaid programs may have cost taxpayers as much as $9 billion since 2018.

Shortly after the announcement, Shirley shared an ‘investigation’ on widespread fraud allegations against Minnesota-based daycare centers that receive federal funding.

Shirley visited several daycare centers in the area, many of which were owned or operated by members of the Somali community.

He went to the centers unannounced in the middle of the day and alleged that they were receiving federal aid without providing services.

The video was amplified by several high-profile figures, including Elon Musk, Vice President JD Vance, and then-Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Trump froze federal funds to Minnesota in response to the video, but Shirley’s allegations remain unconfirmed.

Three daycares featured in the video sued the state of Minnesota in February, claiming they were unfairly punished.

Second Somali fraudster handed six months in jail

A second Somali fraudster, who stole half a million dollars, was handed a mere six months in jail by a Minneapolis judge, just a day after one of her co-conspirators was sentenced to a year.

Zamzam Jama was ordered to pay back $491,000 and will spend half a year in jail for her role in the Feeding Our Future scandal on Tuesday, Kare 11 reporter Lou Raguse reported.

She was sentenced by Judge Nancy Brasel, who gave her co-conspirator Abdul Abubakar Ali a one-year sentence just the day before.

Jama and Abubaker are just two of the dozens of fraudsters in the case. Jama is the first of six in her family to be sentenced.

The Jama family ran their scheme out of Brava Restaurant and Cafe in Rochester, Minnesota. The Jama family has been accused of stealing $5.6million of taxpayer cash by falsely claiming to be feeding children.

Jama used the money to buy a $480,000 home in Rosemount and a Toyota Rav4 with the stolen money. Those possessions, as well as $150,000, have been seized from her bank account, Raguse said.

Simone Biles Shares Health Update Following Harrowing Hospital Experience While on Vacation

After a recent health scare, Simone Biles is rejuvenating in Belize alongside her NFL player husband, Jonathan Owens. The Olympic gymnast disclosed earlier this month that she faced a life-threatening situation in the hospital, though she withheld specific details about her condition.

Currently, Biles is taking time off to recuperate with Owens, who plays for the Indianapolis Colts. The couple is enjoying a sun-soaked vacation, as evidenced by the photos Biles shared with her followers on Instagram.

Additionally, Biles updated her fans on her recovery progress through a TikTok video. When a fan inquired about her wellbeing, the 29-year-old athlete reassured everyone by saying, “Yes, every day I am feeling more like myself. Will update y’all soon.”

She shared pictures on Instagram with her fans showing her soaking up the sun, while she also gave them an update on she was feeling during a TikTok video.

A fan commented on the footage asking if she is feeling better, to which the 29-year-old said: ‘Yes, every day I am feeling more like myself. Will update y’all soon.’

Biles appeared well in the short video that she shared on TikTok, which showed her getting ready for her break.

Biles shared the news of her medical emergency on Instagram, telling her followers she 'almost died'

She posted a photo of herself resting in bed, with an extremely elevated resting heartbeat

Biles said earlier in June that she nearly died due to a mystery medical emergency

She was excited, describing Belize as her ‘favorite vacation spot in the entire world’ and joked about how her suitcase has weighed over 50 pounds.

But she sparked alarm in early June after her health scare.

In a post on her Instagram story, alongside a photo of her wearing several hospital wristbands, she wrote: ‘I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age.

‘But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week. This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life, especially since Jonathan was in Indy for practices.

‘I’ve been in bed resting this week, I’ll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers.’

In a further post, she shared a photo of herself lying in bed with her dogs, alongside the caption ‘I’ll be here’ and a screenshot of an extremely elevated resting heartbeat. She has vowed to explain fully what happened to her when she is ready.

She was last seen in public at the end of May on a visit to watch the MLB team St. Louis Cardinals with husband Owens, who threw out the first pitch for his hometown team.

But the news of her scare led to an outpouring of support for the 11-time Olympic medalist, who has not competed since the 2024 Games in Paris, where she won three golds.

Biles currently lives in Texas with her NFL husband Jonathan Owens, who recently signed a one-year, $1.4million deal with the Indianapolis Colts after two years in Chicago with the Bears.

Biles, 29, is widely considered the greatest gymnast of all time and is America’s most decorated gymnast in Olympic history.

She has not ruled out competing again at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 due to it being a home Games, but gymnasts do not typically compete that late into their career.

Speaking before her health scare, Biles said she is torn over the decision.

‘I’d say we’re still at about 50 per cent,’ she said to French publication El Pais.

‘Although I’ll also take this opportunity to say one thing: I feel we should know how to admire athletes while they are active and competing.

‘I’ve already been to three Olympic Games, and I feel fulfilled. It’s crazy to see how people always want more and more from you. In the end, the decision will always be mine.

‘I feel our bodies are a bit like an hourglass that’s slowly running out. Right now, I’m 29, and although longevity in the elite has advanced by leaps and bounds, it would be a huge sacrifice to try to be at Los Angeles [at 31]. We’ll have to see.’
