Kim Kardashian’s Outfit Choice at Balenciaga Paris Fashion Week Sparks Discussion

Kim Kardashian, celebrated for her striking fashion sense and bold red carpet appearances, seemed to hit a rare style snag on Sunday. She was among the notable attendees at the glamorous Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week.

The 43-year-old reality star confidently displayed her famous hourglass figure in a form-fitting black lace dress, captivating the cameras with her poses.

With her dark tresses elegantly pulled back into a sleek ponytail, she highlighted the gown’s low scooped back, adding to its allure.

Yet, keen observers couldn’t help but spot a noticeable fashion faux pas: the large price tag was conspicuously still attached to her dress.

However, many eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice the large price tag was still attached the dress.

As Kim headed to watch the runway show, the tag swung behind her freely, but was then seemingly absent when she made it inside the venue to sit on the front row.

However, she often opts for fashion forward looks and unconventional outfits, meaning the tag was likely to have been an intentional accessory and talking point.

It comes after earlier this year Kim was blasted by fans after revealing she has become an ambassador for Balenciaga, one year after the brand faced controversy for an advert featuring children and BDSM items.

The reality TV star announced her partnership with the label, helmed by creative director Demna Gvasalia, in January.

She previously refused to cut ties with the fashion house but said she was ‘shaken and disgusted’ by the images which sparked a backlash against the brand.

Since then, she has made her loyalty clear by participating in an ad for Balenciaga’s upcoming Summer 2024 collection.

After announcing her new partnership many fans were left disappointed by the decision and hit back at her statement, in which she wrote that her relationship with the brand was built on a ‘commitment to doing what’s right.’

‘Of all the brands, she had to choose the one with child abuse allegations. Not even surprised though…’ one person wrote, while another branded her a ‘hypocrite’ adding, ‘Money is all that matters to her.’

Another person accused Kim of throwing her ‘morals out of the window’ for money, while someone else added, ‘Anything for money and a higher net worth I guess.’

Others called the SKIMS founder out for hypocritical behaviour: ‘So basically she said f**k Balenciaga when they were getting backlash but now that its safe for her brand she’s back??’

Many others hit out against the brand, calling it ‘trash’ and ‘canceled.’

Kim’s full statement about becoming an ambassador for the brand read: ‘For several years now, Balenciaga’s designs have been a part of my many looks – and some of my most iconic fashion moments.’

‘This historic fashion house embraces modernity, craftsmanship and takes an innovative approach to design under Demna.’

‘For me, this long-standing relationship is built on mutual trust and a commitment to doing what’s right. I’m excited about this next chapter for the brand and to become their ambassador.’

Kim has starred in Balenciaga campaigns, walked in their show and accompanied Demna to the 2021 Met Gala.

After Balenciaga’s ill-judged campaign, Kim shared a statement to her Instagram where she wrote: ‘I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been shocked and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.

‘As a mother of four, I have been shaken by those disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in our society – period.’

She subsequently reissued the statement that saw some of the wording changed using stronger language adding: ‘any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society – period.’

However, on balance, Kim said that she is comfortable with how the company reacted to the scandal.

‘I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology. In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again.’

In an additional post, to both Instagram and Twitter, she said she was reconsidering her relationship with the fashion brand but had not yet many any firm decisions.

‘As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with — & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children.’

Experience the Ultimate YA Yearning: ‘Every Year After’s’ Perfectly Translated Anatomy Scene is a Must-See!

Romance enthusiasts are currently reveling in a wave of streaming adaptations, and the series Every Year After presents a faithful on-screen rendition of a cherished scene from Carley Fortune’s debut novel, Every Summer After.

**Heads up! Spoilers for Every Year After are ahead, now available on Prime Video.**

The pivotal moment, appearing about two-thirds into Fortune’s book, is brought to life in the fourth episode of the Prime Video series, aptly named “Anatomy of a Romance.” The scene features Percy (played by Sadie Soverall) and Sam (portrayed by Matt Cornett) enjoying a leisurely summer day in Sam’s room, where he is engrossed in his anatomy studies.

As Lana Del Rey’s “West Coast” sets the mood, Percy, buoyed by her recent triumph of swimming across the lake, feels invincible and decides to take the initiative.

“Picked up any new insights from that book of yours?” she teases. “Care to share, genius?”

Sam is initially hesitant, seemingly at a loss for words. However, Percy knows just what to say to motivate him to take action.

“Guess I’ll have to find some other future doctor to educate me then,” she teases.

That’s when Sam swoops in, starting off by gently holding Percy’s ankle, and moving up to her knee. While Percy ribs Sam for the elementary nature of the body parts he’s identifying, he gradually moves to more advanced—and intimate—material, as he grazes her vastus medialis, or inner thigh. The music slows, becoming just instrumentals. The two gaze into each other’s eyes as he slides over to the vastus lateralis, otherwise known as her outer thigh, and then up to the tensor fasciae latae, a thigh muscle.

“Are you done with the anatomy lesson, or should I keep going?” he asks.

The tension becomes too much for Percy, who grabs Sam and pulls him in for what becomes their first kiss in the series. They break apart only for a moment, holding each other’s faces, as Sam whispers, “Are we doing this?”

Percy replies, “Hell yeah, we’re doing this.”

The scene, which sees the two confront their feelings for each other, features dialogue almost directly lifted from the pages of Fortune’s book (though Sam covers a couple more body parts in Every Summer After). As Soverall told DECIDER that the scene in Every Year After is “almost one to one” with how it plays out in Every Summer After.

Cornett named the scene as one of several “fan-favorite book moments,” assuring DECIDER that “a lot of time and precious energy were put into those.” Even Michael Bradway, who plays Sam’s older brother Charlie in the new series, cited the scene as one fans would go berserk over while chatting with DECIDER.

“I mean, I wasn’t in this scene obviously, but the anatomy scene is something that everyone is talking about and I think people are really gonna love what they did,” he said.

And he was absolutely right. Now it’s just a matter of waiting for a second season to be picked up…

Every Year After Season 1 is streaming on Prime Video.

Government UFO Files Remain Sealed: Is the Truth About to Unfold?

0

After a long period of eager anticipation, the much-hyped release of the latest UFO documents has left many Americans feeling let down.

On Friday, the Trump administration made public a third installment of documents, photos, and videos related to unexplained aerial phenomena. Nevertheless, critics argue these files fall short of addressing the core allegations surrounding the UFO enigma.

One of the few individuals claiming to have seen some of the classified UFO files shared insights with the Daily Mail, disclosing what he claims is contained within them. These files allegedly include references to crash-retrieval programs, covert government investigations, and mentions of ‘non-human biologics.’

Investigative journalist Jeremy Corbell, who has delved deeply into the subject, asserts that the material has only reinforced his conviction that the U.S. government has indeed recovered unidentified craft and biological evidence tied to the UFO phenomenon.

Over several years, Corbell has dedicated himself to amassing documents, testimonies, and other evidence related to these claims. Some of this material made a fleeting appearance in “Sleeping Dog,” the documentary he produced alongside seasoned investigative journalist George Knapp.

The film shows a list of files, including one referencing ‘non-human biologics,’ a term used to describe alleged extraterrestrial tissue or bodies.

Another file is labeled ‘Kona Blue,’ the name of a proposed Department of Homeland Security program that would have investigated claims involving recovered unidentified craft, advanced technology and other UFO-related allegations.

The program was never formally established, according to government records.

Corbell argued that the material is now circulating far beyond the handful of researchers who first obtained it, raising the prospect that additional details could be leaked regardless of whether the government releases the files.

‘I can’t stop that information from coming out. I am unable to stop it,’ he said, adding that ‘over 100 journalists already have everything that I have.

‘That’s not just in my hands anymore. That’s not just in George Knapp’s hands anymore.’

However, the US government maintains that it has found no verifiable evidence that extraterrestrial life or alien technology has visited Earth.

Despite decades of public fascination with UFOs, major Pentagon investigations and declassified government reviews have repeatedly concluded that no case of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) has been confirmed.

The Trump administration released the third batch of UFO files on Friday, which Corbell said was ‘historic,’ as more information on the topic ‘is always a win.’

However, he added that again, the government has only shared ‘low-hanging fruit.’

‘Our government has long known about Non-Human Intelligence, their vehicles, reverse-engineering programs, and biological study of their pilots and occupants. These releases are provoked – not offered,’ Corbell said.

‘The pressure of journalism, whistleblowers, and congressional oversight forced this door open. Unresolved cases are a start. But complacency is our enemy. If you want the truth, demand it.

‘Full transparency on our government’s continued relationship and correspondence with the UAP phenomenon – nothing less.’

Corbell said the files shown in his documentary touch on allegations involving non-human biologics, government UFO programs, intelligence assessments and unexplained aerial incidents that have remained largely hidden from public view.

One of the files is named ‘ImCon Originals,’ he claimed, referring to Immaculate Constellation – which is described in a whistleblower report as a secret, unauthorized Pentagon program created to collect and hide UFO evidence.

Matt Brown, a former US national security official, came forward in 2025 with details about Immaculate Constellation, revealing the alleged secret program to Corbell.

Brown said he discovered references to the program in 2018 while reviewing classified materials at the Pentagon.

Corbell alleged that it is a special access program designed to quarantine high-quality UFO imagery and testimonies from congressional oversight.

The file ‘Pilfer & Pickpocket’ also appears in the list, which Corbell has previously claimed are names of UFO crash retrieval programs. However, he stressed that he has not been able to confirm the details.

When asked why he does not release the files himself, Corbell told the Daily Mail that some of the information would cause a national security crisis.

But his ‘number one reason’ is that the government has made a promise of ‘disclosure and transparency’ to the American people. ‘They deserve a chance to perform that function,’ he said.

‘Additionally,’ Corbell continued, ‘every time George and I obtain and release something, it puts sources at risk. Why do that when the government has said it will do it? We don’t want to.’

The journalist has become a central player in the UFO disclosure movement, with his work bringing military and intelligence witnesses into the public eye and pressuring the US government into the disclosure process.

Corbell also told the Daily Mail that he personally provided officials with access to several of the UFO videos that were released to the public on May 22.

He did so in what he described as classified ‘intel links’ connected to hidden government servers, after unknown sources leaked the clips to him.

‘Not just file names; if you put the underscores in, they’re linked,’ Corbell said, claiming the material led directly to classified systems that ‘you and I can’t access.’

While Corbell has released UFO videos that ended up in the Trump administration’s file dump, he has championed other footage of unknown craft that was later explained or challenged by investigators, scientists and the military.

His comments come as the Trump administration has released hundreds of UFO-related records, a move Corbell said falls far short of addressing the questions that have fueled the disclosure movement for years.

Corbell pointed to David Grusch’s 2023 congressional testimony, in which the former Air Force intelligence officer alleged the government had spent decades recovering and studying craft of non-human origin and had obtained what he described as ‘biologics’ from some crash sites.

‘Now, if that’s true, and if you believe him, our government in parts has that information,’ Corbell said. ‘It is time to tell the American public the truth.’

Neither Corbell nor Grusch has publicly released evidence proving the existence of non-human intelligence.

Grusch’s testimony marked a turning point in the modern UFO disclosure movement, transforming what had long been considered fringe speculation into a topic debated openly on Capitol Hill.

He told lawmakers that he had interviewed numerous current and former government officials who claimed the US was operating secret programs dedicated to retrieving and studying unidentified craft.

His testimony prompted renewed calls for oversight and transparency from members of Congress on both sides of the aisle.

Several lawmakers have since argued that the government should release additional records related to UAPs.

Corbell said public interest in the issue continues to grow as more military personnel, intelligence officials and defense insiders come forward with accounts of encounters involving unexplained objects.

He argued that the administration’s recent document releases have heightened expectations that more significant information could eventually emerge.

The Trump administration released the first batch of UFO files on May 8, with a second on May 22.

They include military reports, FBI accounts and videos showing unexplained objects streaking across the sky. But rather than providing answers, the files have only deepened the mystery.

Corbell suggested reporters may ultimately force the issue if officials fail to provide further disclosure. ‘If they don’t, journalism will,’ he said.

He stressed he was not claiming to possess definitive proof of alien life or recovered extraterrestrial technology, but argued investigators have uncovered information that warrants further scrutiny.

‘What I have obtained over the years is not definitive proof of the things you want,’ he said. ‘But it’s a start. It’s a good start.’

He added that disclosure should proceed in stages, beginning with government acknowledgment of alleged craft-retrieval and reverse-engineering programs.

From there, he said, officials should address claims involving ‘biologics’ before eventually answering what he called the next major question: whether there has ever been direct communication with a non-human intelligence.

‘Have there been any agreements? Have there been any direct communications?’ Corbell posited.

‘After they begin with reverse engineering of craft, because we all know craft exists, biologics, because we’re almost there, then the third step will be communications,’ he declared.

‘And I have evidence of all.’

Two Individuals Sentenced to Federal Prison for Mail Theft and Additional Crimes in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – On Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that a federal judge has sentenced two individuals to federal prison following their convictions for mail theft, bank fraud, and identity theft.

Joshua M. Holmes, a 21-year-old from Miami, received a 36-month prison term, along with five years of supervised release, and a $2,000 fine after admitting guilt to charges of Mail Theft, Bank Fraud, and Aggravated Identity Theft.

Meanwhile, Coleshia Carter, aged 22 and hailing from East Point, Georgia, was handed a 24-month prison sentence. She will also undergo one year of supervised release and pay a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty to Aggravated Identity Theft.

“The defendants’ actions not only harmed businesses in and around Augusta but also compromised the integrity of our financial systems,” commented U.S. Attorney Margaret E. Royal Splendor: Kate Middleton and Prince William Shine Alongside King Charles at Trooping the Colour

0

Kate Middleton and Prince William exuded royal elegance during the Trooping the Colour 2026 event on Saturday, joining King Charles and Queen Camilla in a stately appearance.

Middleton captivated onlookers in a chic powder-blue dress by Catherine Walker, complemented by a coordinating wide-brimmed hat crafted by Philip Treacy. Her ensemble added a touch of sophistication to the ceremonial procession at Buckingham Palace, celebrating the king’s birthday.

Her accessories included Cassandra Goad’s pearl floral burst earrings, a stylish choice she also favored earlier this year for the installation of the new Archbishop of Canterbury. These earrings first made their debut in 2018 at her youngest son, Prince Louis’s christening, as noted by Town and Country.

King Charles and Queen Camilla made their entrance in a horse-drawn carriage, dressed in harmonized red ceremonial outfits. Charles donned a military uniform adorned with medals, while Camilla opted for a red coatdress paired with a feathered navy hat.

Following the king’s carriage, Prince William, Prince Edward, and Princess Anne participated in the traditional royal procession, riding on horseback through the heart of London.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle — who have famously fallen out with the family and quit their duties as working royal family members in 2020 — were again absent from the event, opting to stay home in Southern California.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was stripped of his royal title last year, also did not attend.

Prince Harry and Markle last attended the event at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, though they watched the military parade from a balcony with other non-working royals rather than participate in the carriage procession or appear on the balcony.

Following their exit from the royal family and move to Montecito, California, the couple expanded their family to include Princess Lilibet, now 5, along with Prince Archie, now 7.

Despite shaky relations with the royal family, Prince Harry — who recently celebrated his eight anniversary with Markle — hopes to bring his wife and children to England within weeks, where he’s promoting his 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

A source told Page Six that he will not, however, see Prince William amid the ongoing rift.

The Prince and Princess of Wales looked equally chic at last year’s event, with Middleton, 44, wearing a sharply tailored aquamarine blue look alongside Princess Charlotte’s similarly colored flutter sleeve dress.

Prince Louis and Prince George joined the traditional festivities in dark colored suits and red ties, while Prince William, 43, donned a red jacket with royal regalia — nearly identical to his father’s red coat.

Queen Camilla, meanwhile, opted for a white look with a matching white fascinator.

Middleton was seen riding in a royal carriage with her three children at the summer event, at one point sharing a laugh with them.

Middleton’s appearance at last year’s Trooping the Colour came several months after she announced she’s in remission after her cancer diagnosis, which she divulged in 2024.

Trooping the Colour marks the birthday of King Charles III — though his birthdate is actually Nov. 14 — and is celebrated for its iconic Buckingham Palace balcony appearance from royal family members.

Middleton and Prince William’s appearance at Trooping the Colour comes after the couple came face-to-face with her ex Rupert Finch at a family wedding last weekend.

The exes, along with their respective spouses, both attended the nuptials of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling in the Cotswolds.

Prince William is cousins with Phillips.

King Charles and Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and Phillips’ sister Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall attended the church wedding, as well.

Middleton and Finch — who has since married Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs — dated briefly back in 2001, when both were attending St. Andrews.

Middleton famously went on to date Prince William — after she famously caught his eye at a 2002 fashion show — before marrying him in 2011.

Another recalled hearing Metcalf say, “I’m not going to fight you at a track meet.”

Witnesses also described Anthony becoming increasingly confrontational before the stabbing.

June 9, 2026: Self-defense claim takes center stage

Anthony admitted stabbing Metcalf but maintained he acted in self-defense.

Defense attorney Mark Howard argued Anthony feared for his safety after being confronted by a larger student.

Prosecutors countered that Anthony escalated a verbal dispute into a deadly encounter.

“You don’t get to meet a shove with a stab,” prosecutor Bill Wirskye told jurors. “That equals murder plain and simple. Unjustified murder.”

June 9, 2026: Jury convicts Anthony of murder

After roughly three hours of deliberations, jurors found Anthony guilty of murder.

Anthony broke down in tears as the verdict was read and was immediately taken into custody.

The verdict represented a decisive rejection of Anthony’s self-defense claim.

June 9, 2026: Metcalf family delivers emotional statements

During victim impact statements, Metcalf’s family addressed Anthony directly.

“We were robbed,” Jeff Metcalf said.

“This was never about race or politics. We all bleed the same color.”

Hunter Metcalf also addressed Anthony directly, telling him, “I want you to realize how much pain you caused me and my family.”

“You let the devil take over you in the moment,” he added.

Metcalf’s mother, Meghan Metcalf, delivered one of the most memorable statements of the hearing.

“You may have been sentenced to 35 years behind bars. You should feel lucky,” she said. “I’ve been sentenced to a lifetime without my son.”

June 9, 2026: Anthony sentenced

Jurors sentenced Anthony to 35 years in prison after rejecting a finding that he acted in “sudden passion,” which could have reduced his punishment.

Anthony was immediately taken into custody and later transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Pack Unit near Navasota to begin serving his sentence.

He will be eligible for parole after serving half of his 35-year term.

June 10, 2026: Anthony begins appeal

Anthony filed a notice of appeal, officially launching the next phase of a case that has remained in the national spotlight since April 2025. His attorneys are expected to ask a higher court to review both the conviction and his 35-year prison sentence.

Appeals Panel Rejects Final Attempt to Retain Trump’s Name at Kennedy Center

The Trump administration’s last attempt to delay the removal of the former president’s name from the Kennedy Center’s exterior has been thwarted by a federal appeals court panel. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit has denied the request, thereby upholding the end-of-day deadline for this action.

This decision means that, unless there is an unexpected intervention from the full D.C. Circuit or the Supreme Court, Donald Trump’s name must be taken down from the prestigious arts and culture venue within a few hours. The court’s schedule indicates that the next possible ruling in this case won’t occur until at least June 29.

In anticipation of this outcome, workers had already set up scaffolding around the Kennedy Center. However, as of early Friday evening, the name had not yet been removed. The administration had been seeking to delay this deadline, but their efforts have so far been unsuccessful.

The Hill has reached out to the Kennedy Center for their response to this development. The unfolding situation remains closely watched as further legal actions could alter the timeline.

The Hill has reached out to the Kennedy Center for comment.

The ruling contained no explanation, and it is not necessarily an indication of how the court views the underlying legal issues.

The three-judge panel comprised U.S. Circuit Judges Patricia Millett and Robert Wilkins, both appointees of former President Obama, and U.S. Circuit Judge Gregory Katsas, a Trump appointee.

Late last year, the Kennedy Center board voted to rename the renowned arts and culture institution as “The Donald J. Trump and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.” Trump’s name was soon added the building’s signage and branding.

Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), an ex-officio board member, sued over the renaming and a planned closure of the center.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper, an Obama appointee, agreed with her it was unlawful and gave the administration two weeks to take down Trump’s name, setting up Friday’s deadline.

As it approached, the administration kicked off a last-minute appeal. It warned that stripping Trump’s name “threatens to substantially undermine fundraising and financial viability at the most sensitive point in its history.”

Beatty called the appeal “frivolous” and a “transparent effort to jam the Court and game the judicial system.”

“Appellants dragged their feet for nearly two weeks, only to appeal the day before they faced a deadline to comply,” Beatty’s lawyers wrote.

Both Cooper and the D.C. Circuit have now declined to intervene before the deadline passes.

After the parties submit a round of written briefs through June 29, the D.C. Circuit will rule on whether the judge’s order should remain for the duration of the appeal.

Elon Musk Makes History as SpaceX’s Success Propels Him to World’s First Trillionaire Status

0

In brief

  • Elon Musk has become the first trillionaire in history.
  • The listing of Musk’s SpaceX on the Nasdaq exchange presages of major IPOs from AI companies in the coming months.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX made a remarkable entrance into the stock market on Friday, with shares soaring nearly 20% on their first day of trading. This blockbuster initial public offering (IPO) now stands as the largest in history, propelling Musk to the status of the world’s first trillionaire. The visionary entrepreneur is using this milestone to further his ambitious plans of transporting humanity to Mars.

The IPO was a financial triumph, raising over $75 billion USD (approximately $106 billion AUD). This success is anticipated to pave the way for a wave of major IPOs from artificial intelligence companies in the months ahead.

The company’s debut on the Nasdaq exchange in New York concluded a period of intense investor anticipation. Originally a rocket company, SpaceX has expanded into a conglomerate specializing in AI and satellite technology.

On its first day, SpaceX shares surged to a high of $176 USD ($250 AUD), marking a 31% increase from the initial offering price of $135 USD ($191 AUD), before settling at $161.50 USD ($229 AUD) by the close of trading.

At a celebratory event in Starbase, Texas, Musk addressed the crowd, stating, “SpaceX aims to take you to the Moon, Mars, and ultimately beyond.” The gathering included numerous employees who became multi-millionaires following the commencement of trading.

“I’m confident at this point that with the incredible team that we have here at SpaceX, that we will do that for you,” Musk added.

About 100 people assembled outside the Nasdaq’s home in New York, where SpaceX also marked the occasion with a neon sign in Times Square.

Musk “sets very futuristic goals that no one else is doing, and I think that has got a lot of people excited,” said Sarin Sio, of financial company Dovetail, who had come to the Nasdaq headquarters.

The company priced more than 555 million shares at US$135 ($191) each in a Thursday filing with the US markets regulator, valuing SpaceX at just under US$1.8 trillion ($2.5 trillion).

Friday’s gain lifted SpaceX’s market value to more than US$2 trillion ($2.8 trilion), placing it among the 10 most valuable American companies — ahead of Tesla, Facebook-owner Meta and Walmart.

Options for nearly 83 million additional shares could push the total raised above US$86 billion ($122 billion).

Co-founded by Musk in 2002, the rocket startup has since expanded into a major satellite operator and has also folded in Musk’s artificial intelligence company — xAI — which includes the social media platform X.

Trading under the ticker symbol “SPCX,” the conglomerate is being closely watched for how Wall Street absorbs the offering and what it will mean for its AI rivals looking to trade on the public markets as early as this year.

OpenAI and Anthropic both recently filing initial documents with regulators.

Friday’s IPO comes just over a year after Musk left President Donald Trump’s administration, following a months-long stint leading the highly contentious “DOGE” effort to slash government spending — while simultaneously juggling his CEO roles at Tesla and SpaceX.

Musk’s backing of Trump and right-wing populists in Europe — and a long list of incendiary comments on X — has seen the entrepreneur go from a broadly admired prodigy to a deeply polarising figure.

The record IPO is nonetheless a testament to Musk’s continued support among investors, with Bloomberg reporting that the offering was more than four times oversubscribed.

Demand among retail investors — for whom 20 per cent of shares were reserved — was also reported to be high.

New billionaires

The IPO is expected to mint thousands of new millionaires and several billionaires, with former and current employees — and a long list of investors — from the company’s near quarter-century history looking to cash in.

The valuation largely depends on Musk delivering on promises worthy of science fiction, including putting data centers in space and humans on Mars using as-yet unproven technology.

A lot also hangs on a huge expansion of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service as well as the success of xAI, the maker of the Grok chatbot and Musk’s rival to OpenAI and Anthropic that has yet to gain traction.

In an effort to shore up its books, SpaceX is renting out its AI computing capacity to Anthropic and Google through short-term deals worth billions of dollars.

While SpaceX is growing quickly — revenue hit US$18.7 billion ($26.5 billion) in 2025 — it is also losing money, producing a net loss of US$4.9 billion ($6.9 billion), mainly on spending to build AI capacity.

In an extraordinary prediction, SpaceX’s filing claims it can pull in more than US$28.5 trillion ($40.4 trillion) in revenue from its various markets.

The milestone makes Musk by far the world’s richest person — an achievement that earned criticism from some quarters.

“The world will get its first trillionaire while Americans across the country are scraping together every dollar to save for retirement,” said Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Lalas Shocks Audience with Fiery Exchange Directed at Corden on Live TV

American soccer icon Alexi Lalas surprised World Cup audiences by calling his Fox colleague James Corden a “w****r” during a live broadcast.

Lalas, who has an impressive record of 96 appearances for the national team, serves as a prominent analyst for Fox’s World Cup coverage. However, his unexpected comment on just the second day of the tournament might land him in trouble.

As the broadcast team prepared for the day’s first match between Canada and Bosnia, lead host Rebecca Lowe directed attention to a promotional segment for Corden’s new late-night World Cup show, “After Hours.”

“Can we talk about James Corden for a second?” Lowe inquired, addressing the panel, which included Lalas alongside soccer greats Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Lalas was quick to respond, but his unexpected remark left millions of viewers taken aback.

‘Oh! What do you guys call them?’ Lalas began, before adding: ‘Full kit w****r right?’

All three of his colleagues were immediately stunned by the comment, with Henry staring down the camera in shock.

Lowe, sensing the need to steer the conversation back to normality, then replied: ‘Okay… lucky we’re on American television, because the W word on British TV…’

The host, who also fronts NBC’s Premier League coverage in the US, is correct that foul language is more accepted on American shores. The clip quickly went viral on social media across the globe.

Lalas’s comment referenced a derogatory British slang phrase that refers to someone who dons a full kit despite not playing in a match.

In a segment on the first episode of the show on Thursday night, Corden appeared in a full USA training kit for a visit to the team’s training base ahead of the World Cup.

It is not yet clear exactly how many viewers were watching the faux pas live, but Fox’s day-one coverage of the tournament at a similar time hit a peak of 6.3million viewers.

The remarkable viewing figures from the opening game – a 2-0 Mexico win over South Africa – set a new record for the most-watched men’s opening match and non-USMNT group stage telecast in history.

Meanwhile, it is not the first time Lalas has courted controversy, with the analyst regularly dividing fans with his strong opinions.

Perhaps the most controversial moment came during the last World Cup in Qatar, when he donned a ‘thobe’ – the traditional loose-fitting robe worn by men in the Arab world – during a live TV segment.

He has also been a regular critic of the US men’s national team, both in and out of major tournaments.

Corden, meanwhile, has not been free of criticism himself, especially after a 2022 incident in New York that resulted in him being banned from a celebrity hotspot restaurant in Manhattan.

The owner of restaurant Balthazar, Keith McNally, publicly called Corden ‘the most abusive customer’ to ever dine there, leading to a groveling apology from the Briton on his then-CBS talk show The Late Late Show. The host has since been welcomed back.

Corden, 47, ended his time on the show – and in America – in 2023, but has returned this summer to front his new late-night Fox show.

The first episode, which aired after the South Korea-Czechia game on Thursday, had Mila Kunis as its first guest – who was coincidentally also the first ever guest on Corden’s CBS show back in 2015.
