A shooting incident unfolded on Saturday near a festival in Toledo, Ohio, prompting an urgent search for the suspect by law enforcement officials. The Toledo Police Department swiftly responded to the scene following reports of gunfire.

At approximately 5:37 p.m., officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Delaware Avenue and Glenwood Avenue, close to where the Old West End Festival was taking place. Upon their arrival, they encountered multiple individuals who had sustained gunshot injuries.

While the police have confirmed the presence of several victims, they have yet to disclose the exact number of those injured or the extent of their wounds. The situation remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather information and piece together the events leading to this unfortunate incident.

The community is understandably shaken as Toledo police actively pursue leads in the case, aiming to apprehend the individual responsible for this act of violence. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any pertinent information that may aid the investigation.

During the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pride night on Friday, one player stood out for not participating in the team’s show of support. Pitcher Blake Treinen appeared to choose not to wear the rainbow cap that his teammates sported for the occasion.

Treinen took to the mound at the start of the ninth inning against their local rivals, the Los Angeles Angels. As he emerged from the bullpen, the ‘LA’ emblem on his cap remained in standard white, unlike the vibrant rainbow hues displayed on the caps of his fellow players.

Despite his brief appearance—Treinen pitched just one ball, resulting in Oswald Peraza grounding out to close the inning—his choice of cap did not go unnoticed by viewers, many of whom interpreted it as a deliberate statement.

One fan captured the moment on social media, noting, “During the Dodgers’ pride night, every player wore pride hats except Blake Treinen when he took the field,” alongside footage of the pitcher.

This incident isn’t the first where a Dodgers player has seemingly distanced themselves from pride-related events.

Last year, Clayton Kershaw wrote a reference to a Bible verse on his pride hat, next to the rainbow lettering he was helping promote.

The World Series winner inscribed the words ‘Gen 9:12-16’ on the cap – which is a passage from the Bible that says the rainbow is a sign of God’s covenant as opposed to a Pride symbol.

The passage reads: ‘And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”

While Treinen did not directly reference the Bible in his apparent protest, he is a devout Christian and has spoken in great detail before about his religious beliefs.

Speaking to CBN Sports during the Dodgers playoff-run to World Series victory last October, he said: ‘I think my family’s name is great in the eyes of God, but in the eyes of the world, nobody really knew the Treinens, and I don’t really care if they do.

‘Every single one of us have been given a gift and our way of repaying it to the Lord is how do we honor him with that gift?”

‘When I am welcomed into the gates of Heaven, I want to hear ‘Job well done, good and faithful servant.’

Treinen added in that interview that his life goal is ‘to make heaven crowded’ and added that he didn’t want ‘teammates or anybody in the stands or anybody in this world face the alternative’.

He has won the World Series three times across the course of his career with the Dodgers and is currently in the second season of a two-year, $22million contract with the team.

With Treinen’s help, the Dodgers ended the night victorious on Friday. Shortly after he got Peraza out, Freddie Freeman hit a walkoff home run for the Dodgers to beat the Angels 1-0 on Friday night.

The team hosts two more matchups against their city rivals before heading on the road to Pittsburgh for a three-game series against the Pirates from Tuesday. 

They are 41-23 in the National League West, eight wins ahead of second-place Arizona Diamondbacks and the pick of many to win a third-straight World Series later this year.

Treinen did not comment over his apparent gesture after the game.

This heartwarming event coincided with the launch of the Eve Fries Foundation, a new initiative by the Fries family in memory of their daughter, Eve. A dedicated softball player, Eve’s legacy lives on through the foundation named in her honor.

“We’ve been seeking a way to celebrate our daughter, who passed away from DIPG in 2021. She was a fierce softball player,” expressed Kurt Fries, Eve’s father, speaking about his daughter’s passion and the inspiration behind the foundation.

Eve’s battle with a brain tumor ended her life too soon, but through this foundation, her spirit and love for softball continue to inspire and support young athletes.

Eve was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and her family honored her at the same field where she fell in love with softball.

“She loved it here. I love coming here because it reminds me of her, and it’s more joyful that going to a cemetery. And 44s are everywhere, and that was her number. She loved Rizzo. And when you see a 44, that’s Eve saying, ‘Hi,’” said Debby Fries, Eve’s mother.

Through the foundation, her family wants to ensure other girls are exposed to softball and have the support to excel.

“You’re just having a good time, and I’ve learned a lot, including pitching, hitting, fielding, and, like, how to be a good sport,” said 11-year-old Sofia Guzman.

“I think there is a resurgence in girls’ sports. I think it’s coming, and I think we want to do what we can to propel it,” Kurt said.

Bill Maher used a portion of Friday’s Real Time to respond to a recent jab from Donald Trump about his ‘low ratings.’

The president took aim at the host known for his progressive views, referring to him as ‘Low Ratings Bill Maher’ and suggesting he relies on a ‘fake laughing machine’ for his show. This critique was shared in a post on Truth Social this past Monday.

Maher responded with his signature wit, noting, “I can always tell when the president is having a rough day because he starts tweeting about me,” and calling it “an honor” to occupy Trump’s thoughts.

He humorously added, “Even when they’re negative, and they’re always negative,” emphasizing the consistency of the critiques.

Maher further highlighted a Reuters/Ipsos survey from May, which indicated that fewer than one-third of Americans support Trump’s presidency during the ongoing conflict with Iran.

He quipped, “Low ratings? You’re at 35 percent,” pointing to the poll results.

‘And fake laughing machine? Can I get a shot of our audience?’ Producers played stock footage of audiences laughing and applauding.

‘There, that should settle that,’ Maher, 70, said.

Trump had brought up Maher as he bragged about Republican wins in recent primaries.

‘In the last two weeks I’ve taken out many bad Political “Leaders” and Pundits including Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Lightweight “Congressman” Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Brad Raffensperger of Georgia, REALLY DUMB Stephen Colbert of CBS, and others,’ he wrote.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was cancelled last month after years of politically charged content from its host. Trump appeared to take credit for the move in the post, despite CBS saying it was for financial reasons. 

Trump ended the post by saying: ‘My score, for two weeks, is 38-0, with three more limping Late Night Talk Show Hosts, including Low Ratings Bill Maher and his Fake “Laughing Machine,” to go.’

The other ‘hosts’ were not specified, though ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel was a likely candidate. NBC’s Seth Meyers is also an outspoken liberal, as is Maher.  

It was recently revealed that Maher and Trump, 79, met together for a dinner at the White House in March of last year. The dinner was made public by a February 2026 Truth Social post by the president.

‘Regardless, I’d much rather spend my time MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN than wasting it on him,’ Trump wrote.

‘Bill continues to suffer from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS!), and there is nothing that will ever be done to cure him of this very serious disease.’

Maher responded during a March edition of Real Time.

‘Someone has to help Donald Trump understand that I don’t suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. He suffers from Bill Maher Derangement Syndrome,’ Maher said. 

‘I will not consider the dinner “a waste of time,” even as I now see we’re back to name calling and that I have some new ones like, “highly overrated lightweight” to add to the list you signed.’ 

He said of the dinner: ‘I was having a good time. So were you, Don, because we were talking like real humans, not like that crazy act you put on in public.’
