Open Heaven 7 June 2026 – Pray Always

Open Heaven 7 June 2026 Sunday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Pray Always

Open Heaven 7 June 2026 TOPIC – Pray Always

MEMORISE: Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; – Romans 12:12 (KJV)

READ: Luke 18:1-8 (KJV)

1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 9-17

Open Heaven 7 June 2026 MESSAGE

In Matthew 21:13, Jesus stated that His house is to be called a house of prayer, not a den of thieves. Although He was talking about the physical temple at Jerusalem in that passage, you should note that it also applies to you because you are God’s temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). This means that God expects you to pray always. Christians who do not pray or who only pray occasionally create avenues for the enemy to attack and defile them.

As a Christian, God wants you to be a house of prayer; He wants you to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17), James 5:17-18 tells us that Elijah prayed fervently for rain not to fall in Israel, and God answered his prayer. After 42 months of drought, he prayed fervently again that the rain should fall, and there was a heavy downpour (1 Kings 18:42-45). During the drought, Elijah prayed for a widow’s dead son to be restored to life, and God heard him (1 Kings 17:22). He was a man of consistent prayer, and he always received answers to his prayers. Those who prioritise prayer enjoy consistent answers to their prayers.

In today’s Bible reading, Jesus told the parable of a widow who persistently disturbed an unrighteous judge until he responded to her. The reason Jesus told this parable was so that men would pray always and not faint (Luke 18:1). This tells us that when a fellow is not praying, he or she is already fainting. The widow’s persistence eventually paid off, as the judge responded to her and avenged her of her adversary. When you are consistent in praying, you are assured of answers to your prayers.

When a fellow prays consistently, he or she will not only receive answers to his or her prayers, but the person will be granted greater access to the secrets of God. Psalm 25:14 says, “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.” Nobody shows a random visitor who visits his or her home the key to a hidden vault, but such a secret is typically revealed to intimate friends.

Every Christian must recognise that intimacy is cultivated in the place of prayer, and they must strive to become intimate with their heavenly Father. This is because the more you pray, the greater access you will have to God’s heart and secrets. Beloved, are you an intimate friend of God?

Open Heaven 7 June 2026 KEY POINT

You are God’s temple, and you ought to pray without ceasing.

Four Morning Exercises to Effectively Tone Saddlebags Beyond the Age of 60

Are you struggling with saddlebags after turning 60? A fitness coach advises against the usual squats and instead suggests incorporating four specific morning exercises into your routine.

Saddlebags are often misunderstood in the realm of fitness, particularly for individuals over 60. Many assume that these are merely excess fat deposits around the hips and thighs, leading them to believe that the solution lies in performing more squats, engaging in extra cardio sessions, and cutting down on calories. However, the human body is far more intricate than that. While saddlebags do involve fat, they are also the result of several factors including fascial tension, changes in circulation, posture adjustments, hormonal fluctuations, and a decline in tissue quality.

As a fitness coach, I aim to shift the dialogue surrounding this issue. Fascia, the connective tissue network enveloping every muscle, nerve, blood vessel, organ, and joint in the body, plays a crucial role. It helps maintain the body’s shape, distributes force, and coordinates movement across the entire system. With age, particularly past 60, fascia begins to lose hydration, elasticity, circulation, and adaptability. Hormonal changes, reduced movement variability, poor sleep, inflammation, and decreased cardiovascular activity contribute to the deteriorating quality of this tissue.

These factors explain why hips often appear heavier, flatter, stiffer, or even less supported as we age. The body adapts to the tension patterns imposed on it. Spot reduction simply doesn’t work because you cannot target fat loss in specific areas of the body. However, you can enhance the quality and functionality of the tissues surrounding those areas, which is an entirely different approach.

This is one of the reasons the hips often begin looking heavier, flatter, stiffer, or even less supported with age. The body is literally adapting to the tension patterns placed upon it. This is why spot reduction doesn’t work. You can’t selectively burn fat from one area of the body. But you can absolutely improve the quality and function of the tissues underneath and around the area. That’s a very different conversation.

Instead of simply trying to shrink the hips, we should focus on improving circulation, proprioception, force distribution, connective tissue quality, muscular support, neurological flow, and movement variability. The body was designed for adaptability, not rigidity. One of the biggest mistakes people make as they age is becoming overly stiff and compressed. When tissue quality improves, posture improves, circulation improves, movement improves, and force distribution improves. The body often begins looking better as a byproduct of functioning better. These four morning exercises work on all of that, and they can help you firm those saddlebags without endless squats.

Why Tissue Quality Matters

Most people think of the glutes as simply muscles, but the glute maximus is an enormous fascial structure with broad connections into the pelvis, sacrum, thoracolumbar fascia, and the lateral hip. The quality of this tissue absolutely affects the quality and even the appearance of the hip.

When the gluteal fascia becomes dense, shortened, compressed, or poorly vascularized, the entire posterior lateral hip changes mechanically and visually. That’s why improving circulation, movement variability, and fascial adaptability becomes so important after 60. This also explains why two people with the exact same amount of body fat can look completely different structurally.

People also forget that tissue quality is not only muscular or fascial, it’s also neurological. The muscles and fascia only function as well as the nervous system supplying them. If neurological flow is diminished, if compression exists around the spine or the pelvis, or if proprioception input is altered, the quality of the movement and the tissue function changes dramatically.

That matters tremendously as we age. Aging is not simply about gaining fat or losing muscle. Aging is often the gradual loss of elasticity, circulation, hydration, proprioception, variability, and neurological efficiency. The goal is not just looking younger, the goal is maintaining tissue that functions younger.

Hip Proprioception

This first exercise works directly on the proprioception and balance we just talked about, retraining how your hip stabilizes and supports you. We’re going to break it down into three steps.

Muscles Trained: Glute medius, glute maximus, hip stabilizers, core

How to Do It:

  • Balance on your right knee and try to keep your hip, shoulder, and ear in line.
  • Once you’re set, lift your front leg and balance, keeping your front foot off the ground.
  • Hold your posture aligned and balance here for 60 seconds, then move on to step two.
  • For step two, line up your hip, shoulder, and ear again, then lift your front foot followed by your back foot.
  • Balance more on the knee with less of a base, and hold for 60 seconds.
  • For the final step, find your initial balance, lift your front foot, then your back foot, and add some movement or perturbation from your front hip while maintaining your balance.
  • The more you move that front leg, the more challenging it is to hold your balance on the standing hip.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Whatever phase you’re in, do one to three sets of 60 seconds per leg.

Form Tip: Keep your hip, shoulder, and ear stacked in line throughout. There will be some movement, but work to keep everything aligned.

Curtsy Lunge

The curtsy lunge brings movement variability and force distribution into the hips and thighs, working the lateral hip through a dynamic range.

Muscles Trained: Glute medius, glute maximus, quadriceps, hip adductors

How to Do It:

  • Base on your left leg.
  • Step your right leg behind you and to the side, then drop down into a lunge.
  • Keep your chest forward and your posture upright.
  • Go down as deep as you can. If you can get your knee to the ground, great.
  • Come back up and return to the middle.
  • Step with the left leg, hit a base, keep your torso square, drop down, and drive yourself back up.
  • Go back and forth, dropping down and driving up while maintaining your posture.

For more of a challenge, keep that back leg tight to the front leg as you drop down. This gives you a bigger stretch into the range of motion and really forces you to work on the balance piece. Stepping the back foot directly behind yourself is easier because it gives you a wider, longer base.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Go back and forth for 10 per side, so 20 repetitions total. Do one to three sets.

Form Tip: Keep your torso square and your posture upright as you drop down and drive up.

Glute Medius Stretch

This is a myofascial stretch for the glute medius, and it directly targets the fascial adaptability and circulation in the lateral hip where saddlebags tend to show up.

Muscles Trained: Glute medius, lateral hip fascia, hip rotators

How to Do It:

  • Step your right leg over your left leg. Set your right foot about even with the knee.
  • For more challenge, move that foot higher up while keeping your posture tall.
  • Once you’ve found the right position, dorsiflex your lead foot and pull it back.
  • Keep your posture upright and use your opposite hand, or your opposite elbow if you can reach, to pull the leg across your body.
  • Keep your hip glued to the ground, with nothing lifting up.
  • Pull strongly with your left arm on your right leg while bending your ankle back.
  • Bring your right arm out, spread the fingers, bend the wrist, lock the elbow, and spiral.
  • Push forward with your right arm as you tuck your chin, lift the chest, and pull on the leg.
  • Hold for 30 to 90 seconds, then gently release and switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: If you hold for 30 seconds, switch sides back and forth so you’ve done three reps per side. If you hold for 90 seconds, do just one per side.

Form Tip: Imagine your hip glued to the ground so you’re not lifting as you pull the leg across your body.

L2/L3 ELDOA

We finish with the L2-L3 ELDOA. We’re using this because that is the nerve root for this part of the body where we tend to get our saddlebags, so it ties the whole neurological piece together.

Muscles Trained: Spinal stabilizers, core, hip flexors, postural chain

How to Do It:

  • Sit up as tall as you can, keeping your ear, shoulder, and hip straight and aligned to the best of your ability.
  • Bend the ankles back, turn the feet and knees in, and go as wide as you can with your legs.
  • Stay vertical with your chin gently tucked and your eyes looking one to two feet in front.
  • Bring your arms out in front, spread the fingers, bend the wrist back, and spiral open.
  • Bring your arms straight up from your shoulders and stretch as high as you can.
  • Pull the ankles back, turn the feet and knees in, and push your calves to the ground.
  • Breathe from the belly as you continue to stretch overhead with your fingers spread and your wrist back.
  • When you’re done, relax one arm, then the other, then one leg, then the other.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Hold for 60 seconds, one set.

Form Tip: Keep your ear, shoulder, and hip aligned and breathe from the belly while you reach as high as you can overhead.

USA Falls Short to Germany in Thrilling World Cup Send-Off: Robinson’s Stunning Goal Steals the Spotlight

0

In a spectacle that combined celebrity appearances, impressive displays, and nostalgic nods to soccer history, the atmosphere at Soldier Field was nothing short of electric. Chance the Rapper took the stage, performing dogs entertained the crowd, and former US soccer stars made appearances. The excitement was further amplified by a dazzling fireworks show and a B52 flyover. Yet, it was the thrilling plays and intense moments on the field that truly captured the audience’s attention, setting the stage for the World Cup like nothing else could.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad delivered a performance full of both brilliance and resilience against Germany, providing a glimpse into the team’s potential while also highlighting areas needing improvement as they look towards the crucial summer ahead.

Early in the match, Kai Havertz’s goal threatened to dampen the spirits of the home crowd, but the USMNT responded with vigor. Antonee Robinson electrified the stadium with a sensational volley that equalized the score, bringing all 63,000 attendees to their feet.

The drama continued into stoppage time when Tim Weah’s assertive challenge on David Raum ignited a heated altercation, prompting the Chicago crowd to chant fervently in support of their team, echoing “U-S-A” throughout the stands.

Despite these moments of brilliance and intensity, the US team faced a setback. Leroy Sane’s precise shot into the bottom corner ultimately sealed a defeat for the US side in this crucial World Cup warm-up match.

Once again, there were more than enough shoots of optimism to suggest Pochettino’s team can go deep this summer – their resilience after going behind, their attacking invention and the performance of Christian Pulisic. But also enough lingering fragility to temper expectations heading into next week’s opener against Paraguay.

This 2-1 loss was America’s ninth consecutive defeat against European opposition dating back to the 2022 World Cup. And that will sting for Pochettino and his players.

Antonee Robinson scored a stunning volley to level the match shortly before halftime

Because this more than a final warm-up game. This was more than a send-off match sponsored by Coca-Cola. This friendly, against the four-time world champions, the No 10-ranked team in the world, was another chance to prove how good the US can be under Pochettino. To show that they can mix it with the best teams in the world.

Once more, the USA demonstrated that they can hurt anyone. They created ample chances. But once more this team was undone by soft goals. And that is the nagging concern heading into next week.

Many of the American heroes of 1994 were paraded on the pitch shortly before kick-off. Hairlines have receded and waistlines have expanded since their heroics three decades ago. But the legacy of the last home World Cup lives on in this generation and after Pochettino’s players emerged from the tunnel to warm up, they locked arms with their forefathers for a group photo. A journey spanning 32 years captured in a single picture.

Alexi Lalas and Co were decked out in the same red and white stripes that the USMNT will wear this summer. So were thousands of fans in the streets of downtown Chicago and on the walk to Soldier Field.

Make no mistake, however, the battle for hearts and minds is not won: as soccer fans wandered through Grant Park, hordes of people headed in the other direction… toward Pokemon Go Fest. At one point, a group debating the qualities of Matt Freese were passed by a couple discussing the possible whereabouts of Pikachu.

There is plenty of work to be done on the pitch, too. That much became obvious after just 106 seconds, when Joshua Kimmich clipped a free-kick toward the back post, where Havertz was waiting. All alone.

The Arsenal forward had drifted off the back of Tim Ream and away from Miles Robinson. It was clever from Havertz and from Nico Schlotterbeck, who acted as a blocker to buy his teammate space. From an American point of view, however, it was painfully soft. Just like Senegal’s two goals last week.

The early setback silenced Soldier Field and, for a few minutes, the US were teetering. Havertz had the ball in the net once more, only for the US to be saved by the assistant’s flag. All of a sudden, the specter of Chris Richards loomed large. Without him, Pochettino had played a back four that – at times – looked brittle. They need the Crystal Palace defender back.

By half-time, however, Pochettino’s team was level and in the ascendancy. Folarin Balogun flashed a teasing ball across goal; Alex Freeman carried the ball well from right back; Sergino Dest fired over from inside the box.

And after ending his goal drought against Senegal, Pulisic seems to be coming to the boil at the perfect time. The winger had a couple of promising openings here including when he sent two defenders the wrong way, only for his shot to fly over the bar.

Thankfully Robinson’s volley soared the right side of the woodwork. It came after a USMNT corner was headed clear. The ball looped into the sky and landed on his left foot. It was a thunderous strike that gave goalkeeper Oliver Baumann no chance. And just like that, the US were level and momentum – kickstarted against Senegal last week – began to snowball.

It was a goal worthy of winning any game, a volley that set off flares and sparked renewed hope regarding the prospects of this US team.

Unfortunately, after both Havertz and Jamal Musiala were allowed too much time around the box 10 minutes into the second half, Sane stroked a shot past Freese to ensure Robinson’s volley was merely the highlight in another defeat.

Australia Ensures Fuel Stability Through August, Easing Pump Concerns

0

In Brief

  • Energy Minister Chris Bowen said Australia has fuel security through in August.
  • Petrol prices around the country have dipped to near pre-war levels.

Australia is currently maintaining a robust fuel reserve, sufficient to last nearly three months, as petrol prices at the pump have decreased to levels close to those before the recent Middle East conflict.

According to Energy Minister Chris Bowen, the reserves consist of 43 days’ worth of petrol, 36 days of diesel, and 30 days of jet fuel, with additional millions of litres on their way by sea.

Minister Bowen expressed confidence in Australia’s fuel security amidst global disruptions, stating, “Australia is performing exceptionally well despite the ongoing tensions and supply challenges impacting countries worldwide.”

He further noted, “Our current fuel levels are higher than they were on February 28th, when the first bombings in Iran occurred.”

In May, over 90 fuel-laden ships docked in Australia, surpassing the typical monthly average of 81 arrivals.

Another 50 are on their way, with 3.5 billion litres of fuel expected to be delivered over the next four weeks.

That consists of 1.8 billion litres of diesel, 512 million litres of petrol, 468 million litres of jet fuel, and 709 million litres of crude oil.

“We also have the situation now that we can say fuel is secure through June and July, and now well into August as well,” Mr Bowen said.

Average petrol prices across the nation’s largest cities have fallen to near pre-Iran conflict levels in the past week, but they’re set to rise at the end of the month when the federal government’s temporary fuel tax discount ends.

The average price of petrol on Wednesday was $173.30 cents per litre in Sydney, $175.60 in Melbourne and $176.20 in Brisbane, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

On 20 February, about a week before the conflict in the Middle East escalated, the average price per litre was $165.20 in Sydney, $176.10 in Melbourne and $188.80 in Brisbane.

The day before the federal government temporarily cut the fuel excise by half on 31 March, the price was $257.40 in Sydney, $259.10 in Melbourne and $258.70 in Brisbane.

Diesel prices have also dropped, but they’re still well above pre-conflict levels.

The average price of diesel per litre on Wednesday was $206.70 in Sydney, $214.50 in Melbourne and $214.20 in Brisbane.

That’s down from $321.80 in Sydney, $324.40 in Melbourne and $322.70 in Brisbane on March 31, but higher than the average prices on February 20 of $174.30 in Sydney, $178.90 in Melbourne and $179.70 in Brisbane.

Mr Bowen confirmed the temporary 50 per cent cut to the federal fuel excise that reduced the tax on petrol and diesel by 26.3 cents per litre would end on June 30 as planned.

“But of course, we’ll continue to monitor the situation, and we’ll always act in the best interests of Australians, based on the evidence before us,” he said.

Denzel Ward Opens Up About His Future with the Cleveland Browns

0

Dismiss any rumors about the Browns parting ways with yet another defensive standout. Denzel Ward, now the longest-serving player with the team following Myles Garrett’s trade to the Rams, expressed his desire to remain with the Browns as they embark on a much-anticipated rebuild.

“I definitely still want to be here,” Ward stated at his first celebrity softball event on Saturday. “Myles was not just a great teammate but also a close friend. Despite his departure, we haven’t lost our spirit. It’s Ohio against the world, and while people may doubt us, we’re committed to playing our best and securing victories for the city.”

The 29-year-old cornerback, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, has been a key player since being drafted fourth overall by the Browns in 2018 from Ohio State.

Ward is under contract until 2027 with a five-year, $100.5 million deal, although none of his future salary is guaranteed.

The Browns received two-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Jared Verse as well as three draft picks from the Rams in the Garrett trade.

It was a healthy return that included a win-now piece in the Ohio-born Verse, but the Browns are still in no man’s land at quarterback with Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and rookie Taylen Green.

“Crazy trade, definitely a crazy trade,” Ward said. “I believe that either you’re with us or against us, and as you see, he’s not with us. Crazy trade, but hey, that’s the nature of this game.”

The Browns and Ward are on the same page about his future — even though the Browns could get more draft capital and Ward could finally make a deep playoff run if he were shipped out, too.

“[Ward is] a big part of the team, and we like him a lot,” Browns general manager Andrew Berry said after dealing Garrett. “He’s still playing at a really high level.

“That doesn’t change with this transaction.”

Unexpected Reactions Emerge from UFC Event Held at White House Lawn

0

As you scroll through social media, it’s likely you’ve witnessed some left-leaning individuals expressing dissatisfaction about the setup of a mixed martial arts event scheduled for Sunday, June 14, on the White House lawn. The reactions to UFC Freedom 250 have ranged widely, from mild disapproval to outright disdain.

Beyond the usual social media outcry, this event has also unsettled members of the political commentary sphere. Conor Friedersdorf, writing for The Atlantic, perceived the event as tarnishing the sanctity of the presidential residence. He interpreted it as a political maneuver by President Trump to provoke his adversaries. Friedersdorf’s concerns about hosting a “blood sport” at such a prestigious location, while intense, are among the more moderate opinions in the debate.

But more than the imbalanced souls occupying the recesses of social media, our political punditry class has also seen cause to lose their composure over this event. At The Atlantic, the dependably bent Conor Friedersdorf saw this as a cause in which President Trump was besmirching the decency of the presidential residence, and sending a message to his political rivals. As Friedersdorf turns tremulous at the appearance of “blood sport” being held there, his default opposition is actually one of the calmer reactions.

At CNN, Sara Sidner sat down with UFC president Dana White about the event, and she turned the conversation to what it all means. As a hint: It has nothing to do with the celebration of the nation’s 250th anniversary. No, as Sidner needed to make this about something far more sinister, she asked White about the implications that these MMA fights support fascism.

Rep. Tim Burchett Has a Great Alternative Lineup for the ‘Freedom 250’ Concert That I Would be All in For

Sidner asked White:

Do you worry about the confluence of this sport in particular and the Trump administration sort of being intertwined? People might say, look, Trump’s using the same playbook as a Mussolini or a Putin.

Now, we are fully aware that taking anything burped out by Al Sharpton is not to be regarded with any level of seriousness, but he managed to surpass even his usual pained connections to race in addressing this topic, during MS NOW’s Morning Joe program on Thursday:

“Trump and others are trying to bring us back to an America that we struggled to get out of,” Sharpton said.

…

“So there is a connection of why they’re having these fights on the White House lawn,” Sharpton said. “UFC and all that, because they’re trying to go back to that when, you know, they watched people have these fights for the slave masters, and they’d be entertained by that.”

The good-Reverend Al went from that leap of a connection to lunge to another, bringing up Trump having a portrait of Andrew Jackson being installed in the Oval Office, solidifying this proven desire.

I’m going to induce a reaction seen from vampires in the presence of a crucifix, and hold up some facts to make these pond-shallow thinkers recoil. For Sharpton’s monochromatic mindset, his claim is floored faster than Gina Carano in the octagon.

There are exactly zero POC competitors on any of the seven fights on the card, so how this becomes a contest to foster a return to slavery proves to be amazingly inept. (To say nothing that Al not long ago was calling for fighters to rise up against Trump. Huh.)

Another harsh reality for these people wringing their hands over the fisticuffs at the White House comes in the form of history. This is hardly the lone instance of physical competitions being staged on location. The presidential pugilist himself, Theodore Roosevelt, also held boxing contests at the residence, and did so repeatedly. He even participated frequently, as he felt the bruising and pain were a character-building result.

So these federalized Fight Club battles on the lawn are not so unique after all. No surprise is felt that the people who feel their bravery and competitive nature are displayed through being keyboard warriors, are the same ones considering physical competition to be an affront to propriety and decency.

After all, they are the types who consider any verbal disagreement to be an “attack”. Actual physical conflict is a monstrous concept. They will need to be content with the nightly roundtable “battles” seen on Abby Phillip’s CNN competition program.

Probationary Man Faces Arrest for Alleged Armed Robbery in April

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities apprehended Antonio Dimitri Bryant, 30, on suspicion of an armed robbery that took place outside a Steak ‘n Shake location back in April.

The victim recounted to a Gainesville Police Department officer that, around 12:21 a.m. on April 12, while heading to his car during a shift at the Steak ‘n Shake on 1610 SW 13th Street, he was confronted by an unknown individual. This person requested to borrow the victim’s phone and, upon receiving it, brandished a firearm from his waistband. He then demanded the victim’s Cashapp code. After complying, the victim reported that the assailant fled southwards toward Momoyaki, taking the phone with him.

In the aftermath of the incident, the victim noticed a colleague’s car parked at Momoyaki. Observing the vehicle speed away shortly after the robbery, he suspected that the robber had used this car to escape the scene.

The colleague, identified as Deonte Ronell Small Sr., 31, was taken into custody on April 16. He faces charges including armed robbery, grand theft, and utilizing a two-way communication device to commit a felony. The victim mentioned that he and Small had exchanged messages earlier in the night about meeting up at Steak ‘n Shake for a smoke, though no specific time had been set.

The victim said that right after the robbery, a single $2,300 transaction was made from his Cashapp account to an account that he identified as Small’s account.

Officers established a perimeter around Steak ‘n Shake and searched the area, including using a K-9 team, but they did not locate the man. Law enforcement requested pings of the victim’s phone, and there was only one ping at 12:28 a.m., in an area near the tower at 2316 SW Archer Road.

An officer reported that surveillance cameras near Momoyaki did not show anyone on foot around the time of the robbery, which supported the victim’s belief that the man left the area in a vehicle.

An officer confirmed that Small drives a vehicle that matches the description provided by the victim, and traffic cameras reportedly showed that vehicle in the area of SW 16th Avenue and SW 13th Street (near Steak ‘n Shake) at 12:26 a.m. and then at SW 16th Avenue and Shealy Drive (near the tower at SW Archer Road) at 12:28 a.m.

On April 14, the officer spoke with a manager at Steak ‘n Shake and learned that Small had last worked on April 11, and he did not show up for work for his scheduled shifts on April 12 and April 13, which the manager said was unusual for Small.

The officer obtained messages from Small to another Steak ‘n Shake employee in which Small claimed that his cell phone was stolen along with the victim’s cell phone while they were together at Steak ‘n Shake. The victim reportedly was adamant that he was alone at the time of the robbery.

The officer made contact with Small on April 16, and post Miranda, Small reportedly confirmed that he had been in the Momoyaki parking lot at the time of the robbery, that the Cashapp account that received the victim’s money was his, and that he was texting with the victim a few hours before the robbery about meeting; he also reportedly said he had driven a man named “Toni” to and from the location of the robbery and that “Toni” had robbed the victim.

In a second interview with Small’s lawyer present, Small reportedly admitted to planning the robbery with “Toni,” whose real name is Antonio; he said Antonio had a real firearm, and he said he had needed money and had decided to rob the victim because he believed the victim had money. Small reportedly said he had driven Antonio back to Colonial Oaks, where he lives.

After a detective developed Bryant as a suspect, Small reportedly positively identified him as the man who had robbed the victim.

Post Miranda, Bryant reportedly confirmed he was with Small on the night of the robbery and that Small had driven him to Small’s residence, which is near Steak ‘n Shake, and then back to Colonial Oaks.

Bryant has been charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand theft, and use of a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony. He has four felony convictions (non-violent) and one misdemeanor conviction (non-violent); he is on probation after serving a year in jail for charges in a 2024 case. Judge Julie Johnson set bail at $200,000.

Discover Why This Brooklyn Neighborhood is the New ‘Times Square’: A Must-Visit Urban Hotspot!

Residents in a New York City neighborhood are expressing their frustration over the influx of tourists flocking to their area in search of the perfect Instagram photo, which they claim has disrupted the peaceful atmosphere they once cherished.

Brooklyn’s DUMBO, shorthand for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is known for its charming cobblestone streets, repurposed warehouses, and iconic view of the Manhattan Bridge. Over the last ten years, this neighborhood has evolved significantly.

What was once a quiet manufacturing district has now become one of New York City’s most photographed spots. Social media and travel guides frequently highlight DUMBO as a must-visit location, particularly for the striking view of Manhattan from Washington Street, nestled between Front and York Streets.

However, the surge of tourists, along with the proliferation of food trucks and chain businesses, has irked local residents. They are now calling on city officials to implement changes that could alleviate congestion and enhance their quality of life.

Residents compare the current bustling atmosphere in DUMBO to that of Manhattan’s Times Square, which, although nine miles away, can attract up to 450,000 visitors daily during peak periods. Dog walker Kelvin Flores, speaking in the neighborhood, remarked to the Daily Mail, “I say it’s like the Times Square of Brooklyn.”

Local Racheline Maltese added that she was frustrated with the ‘wall to wall’ crowds. ‘It’s stopping me from being where I need to be.’

‘I cannot get across the street when people are stopping dead in front of me,’ she said.

Maltese said she found it ‘stressful’ navigating the York Street subway station in the area as crowds submerge the platforms. ‘The F train is the scariest platform, it’s like a fire trap waiting to happen,’ she added.

Another local, Malcolm Moore, detailed a similar experience: ‘Even recently, I had trouble getting down here just to go shopping.’

And he said tourists can be rude. From ‘not saying excuse me, not mindful of their space, and disrespecting people’s movements,’ they are an unwelcome sight in the neighborhood. He added: ‘Hopefully they learn social norms.’

Locals say the attention from tourists has elevated living costs and house prices in the community, which has 5,906 residents per a Niche estimate.

According to Redfin, the median price of a home in DUMBO was $2,911,418 for April 2026, which is an increase of 225.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

Moore has seen friends and neighbors having to move while Maltese commented: ‘There’s no way there is a single affordable apartment here anymore.’

A Change.org petition was set up last month by resident Jamel Talbi demanding that local authorities publish a concrete safety and tourism management plan for DUMBO and hold a new town hall to discuss it.

The petition states: ‘For years, residents have raised the same concerns: food trucks and vendors operating directly outside residential buildings, idling engines and generators under apartment windows, blocked sidewalks and crosswalks, tour buses circulating through narrow residential streets, unsafe pedestrian spillover, traffic gridlock, and growing pressure on the already overcrowded York Street subway station.

‘These are not isolated inconveniences. They are public safety, environmental, accessibility, and quality-of-life issues affecting residents, families, children, seniors, people with disabilities, local workers, and visitors alike.’

‘DUMBO residents deserve safe streets, clean air, accessible sidewalks, reliable transit access, and a transparent government process that treats residents as primary stakeholders.’

The petition came after an April town hall where council member Lincoln Restler intended to address traffic, tourism, vending, pedestrian safety, Open Street impacts, and quality of life in the neighborhood. Locals felt the meeting was inefficient and that they had yet to see any legislative action.

Speaking to the Daily Mail on Friday, Restler shared future plans for a potential ‘vendor plaza’ intended to remove the vendors off the streets to appease residents.

However Restler did not propose a timeline for these changes. ‘We are in negotiations and nothing is final but we hope to have updates soon.’

Local Bruno Cartella told the Daily Mail: ‘I’d like more action but I know I’m not gonna get it.

‘As far as the vendors go, they gotta tone it down a little, because they are coming around here doing what they want, trying to move in front of people’s doors and this, that and the other.

‘Then when you are nicely approaching them with intelligence, asking them if they have to do this right in front of your door, they get an attitude… We’ve got residents here and they don’t want it. They want serenity and calmness. No one wanted attention here, we are good.’

However local workers were quick to defend themselves. Yessi Ortiz from Front Street Pizza told the Daily Mail that although the chaos could be intense she believes it to be good for the neighborhood as it benefitted the local businesses.

One local, who goes by the name ‘Sarge, the bird man of Brooklyn,’ stated that he too took no issue with the buzz and welcomed everyone but understood that the attention drove costs up.

‘It can be expensive around here and a lot of us cannot afford that but it is what it is’, he said.

The debate comes ahead of the FIFA World Cup which starts on June 11 and is set to bring an influx of international visitors to the New York and New Jersey region.

The petition stated: ‘The timing makes this especially urgent. DUMBO is heading into peak summer conditions while the city is also planning major public events on and around the waterfront – including the FIFA World Cup 26 Brooklyn Fan Zone at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the broader 50th Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show and Sail4th 250 / America’s 250th celebrations in New York Harbor.

‘These are not ordinary weekend conditions; they are major crowd-generating events being added to a neighborhood where officials have already acknowledged that enforcement and management have been inadequate.

‘The city cannot continue using DUMBO and the surrounding waterfront as a major event destination while acknowledging unresolved failures around traffic, vending, crowding, sanitation, subway access, and enforcement.

‘Before these events proceed, residents need to know how the city will manage pedestrian crowding, vehicle restrictions, tour buses, vendors, emergency access, residential building access, subway congestion, sanitation, and NYPD deployment. Without that plan, the city is not managing risk – it is compounding it!’

Restler emphasized to the Daily Mail ‘how lucky New York was to be able to host the upcoming events’ and shared his aim to work closely with the community to mitigate any issues that may arise at the time.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Talbi and the New York City Council for further comment.

Federal Judge Dismisses Kennedy Center Lawsuit Against Musician Over Canceled Christmas Eve Performance

A legal battle involving musician Chuck Redd has reached a resolution, as a D.C. Superior Court judge dismissed a breach of contract lawsuit against him. The suit was filed after Redd canceled his Christmas Eve performance at the Kennedy Center to protest President Donald Trump’s influence on the venue.

The decision to dismiss the case came on Friday, based on Washington’s Anti-SLAPP laws. These laws aim to protect individuals from frivolous lawsuits that seek to suppress opposition, particularly on topics of public concern.

Chuck Redd, renowned for his skills on the drums and vibraphone, has an illustrious career touring with legends such as Dizzy Gillespie and Ray Brown. Redd had been a staple at the Kennedy Center’s holiday “Jazz Jams” since 2006. However, he withdrew from last year’s event following the decision by Trump’s appointees to add the president’s name to the Kennedy Center.

In response to the lawsuit, Lisa J. Banks, one of Redd’s attorneys, stated, “The Center sued Mr. Redd because he publicly and rightly objected to adding Donald Trump’s name to the Kennedy Center, a living memorial to former President John F. Kennedy. The lawsuit against Mr. Redd was political retribution, pure and simple, by the Trump Kennedy Center, and the Court correctly saw it as such in dismissing the case with prejudice.”

Expressing his relief, Redd conveyed to The Associated Press via email on Saturday morning that he is “very pleased with the judge’s ruling.”

The motion to dismiss, filed in March, argued that Redd wasn’t contractually obligated to perform. It included the contract provided by the Kennedy Center, which the artist never signed.

Representatives for the Kennedy Center did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the suit’s dismissal.

Police: Mother Abandons Daughter with Only Birthday Cake for Survival

The neighborhood in Fort Bend County, Texas, where Phillipi Angela Walker allegedly abandoned her child (KPRC).

A woman from Texas is facing accusations of abandoning her 8-year-old daughter, who reportedly has a disability, to travel to Central America, leaving the young girl to survive on her own.

Phillipi Angela Walker is alleged to have deserted her child on at least two separate occasions in November, as detailed in court records examined by Law&Crime.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Walker left her daughter unattended at home on November 21, 2025. During this time, Walker was reportedly “out of the country in Honduras,” and the affidavit states the child “called the police for food after being left home alone for two days.”

The affidavit further notes, “If the juvenile had not reached out to the Sheriff’s Office for food, she would not have been found for several more days.”

Investigators highlighted that the child “has a mental deficiency that may prevent her from being fully aware of her surroundings.”

Court documents do not identify the age of the girl or her mother, but local NBC affiliate KPRC, which spoke with law enforcement, reported that the girl was 8 years old at the time of the alleged abandonment.

KPRC also reported that one of the detectives on the case told the station that the girl had been surviving on birthday cake while she was home alone.

Days later, on Nov. 24, Walker’s house was under surveillance in connection with the Nov. 21 incident — and according to officials, Walker once again had left the girl at home, this time to go to her job at the Houston Veteran Affairs Hospital for a shift that ran from 3:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

After being apprehended at a traffic stop, Walker allegedly told police that she had asked her grandfather “to go to her residence and make contact with” the child, according to the affidavit.

Walker “was then asked if there were any juveniles at the [home],” investigators wrote. However, Walker “would not be cooperative and did not provide an answer if there was anyone at the [home].”

Law enforcement officials say that upon entering the residence, they found the child in the home alone. They also say they discovered “three large knifes accessible to [the child] who with mental deficiency could access.” Deputies then took Walker into custody.

According to the affidavit, Walker was not supposed to have custody of the girl “due to a CPS plan having been set from the prior incident in which [the child] was supposed to be with another family member.”

Walker faces two charges of felony child abandonment or endangerment. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office does not currently list Walker as an inmate. Court records show that her next hearing is scheduled for June 29.
