Chris Robinson, the lead singer of the Black Crowes, faced a wave of boos from the audience after he criticized fans for chanting “USA” during a concert in Florida. His comments sparked backlash as he questioned what made America so praiseworthy, causing the crowd to react negatively.

The incident unfolded on a Sunday night at the band’s performance in Tampa, part of their “Southern Hospitality Tour.” The controversy started when an image of the band’s black crow mascot, dressed as Uncle Sam, was displayed on a screen behind the stage. This prompted the crowd to begin a patriotic chant, according to a report by TMZ.

As the band was preparing to perform their popular song “She Talks to Angels,” Robinson, 59, addressed the audience’s enthusiasm with skepticism. A source informed the outlet that Robinson responded with irritation to the ongoing chants.

“Thanks for the geography lesson,” Robinson reportedly quipped, showing his growing frustration with the “USA” chants that continued to echo through the venue.

He further provoked the audience by questioning, “I don’t know what you have to be so proud of right now,” as per the outlet’s report, leading to a tense atmosphere during the show.

The comment was enough to set off a round of boos from the crowd — with some so upset they started leaving the venue.

In a clip obtained by TMZ, Robinson is heard clapping back at those booing him.

“Some of us have real faith,” the 59-year-old singer is heard saying to a noticeably dwindling crowd.

“For those of you f–king booing us, some of us are not afraid. And we most assuredly are not f–king ignorant.”

The online backlash to the rocker’s remarks was swift.

“US Veteran here. Bought tickets for my wife’s birthday in Tampa. Chris Robinson mocked the USA chanters… We walked out disappointed. Hoping for a partial refund,” one fan shared on X.

“So I’m at the black crowes concert in Tampa tonight… Chris Robinson basically just told Patriots to kiss his ass! Not kidding. This was my 12th Crowes concert since 87, I just dropped them like a hot iron. F–k you Chris!” another fan seethed.

“Never had any issue with the Black Crowes, but good lord, Chris Robinson handled this in the worst way possible. It’s one thing if the fans are combative or disrupting your set, it’s another when fans are innocuously chanting USA,” wrote another.

The Atlanta-born singer, who started the band with his brother, guitarist Rich Robinson, in 1984, found major success in the early 1990s, especially with their first two albums: “Shake Your Money Maker” (1990) and “The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion” (1992).

The band split in 2015, reunited in 2019, and are currently on tour in support of their 10th studio album, “A Pound of Feathers.”

In a March interview with Mojo to promote the album, Robinson described himself as “not interested in politics.”

“I’m not interested in politics. I’m more interested in poetry and art and people and experience,” the lead singer told the outlet.

“He is a truly fine man, one who has watched as this once great State has gone to Hell. Gavin Newscum and the Democrats have done an absolutely horrendous job,” Trump said of current Gov. Gavin Newsom, a frequent Trump critic.

“Crime is increasing, and Taxes are the highest of any State in the Country, maybe the World,” Trump added. “Steve can turn it around, before it is too late, and, as President, I will help him to do so! With our Administration, working alongside a Great Governor like Steve Hilton, California can be better than ever before.”

He also endorsed California GOP Assemblyman James Gallagher, who is running for Congress, as well as San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, who is also seeking a seat in the House.

Others in California who received endorsements include Reps. Tom McClintock, Jay Obernolte, and Vince Fong, along with Kevin Lincoln, a former Stockton mayor who is running for a seat in the newly redrawn 13th Congressional District.

Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., also received a nod from Trump.

Other congressional endorsements included Reps. Tom Kean Jr., Jeff Van Drew and Chris Smith, all of New Jersey, as well as Rep. Troy Downing, R-Mont. Trump also endorsed Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, in her U.S. Senate bid.

Trump also endorsed Aaron Flint, who is running to represent Montana; South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley; and Greg Cunningham, a former police officer from New Mexico.

Veteran journalist Scott Pelley reportedly expressed strong criticism of CBS News management on Monday, following significant changes to the “60 Minutes” team.

Pelley targeted CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss for her decision to dismiss key members of the “60 Minutes” team, including the executive producer, executive editor, and correspondents Sharyn Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega. He referred to the day these changes were made as ‘Black Thursday,’ according to a report from The Guardian.

During a meeting with the show’s staff, newly appointed executive producer Nick Bilton, and CBS News managing editor Charles Forelle, Pelley allegedly stated, “She’s murdering 60 Minutes.” Sources familiar with the meeting reported these remarks.

He further criticized Weiss, reportedly saying, “She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it and is doing exactly that.”

Weiss was notably absent from Monday’s meeting, as CBS executives reportedly requested her to stay away due to the staff’s discontent over the recent personnel changes, as mentioned in The New York Times.

Forelle then accused Pelley of being rude, but he fired back by saying the network was rude in its treatment of Tanya Simon, the executive producer who was fired on Thursday.

Pelley also allegedly told Bilton he had ‘scant qualifications’ for the job, according to Puck News reporter Dylan Byers.

Bilton responded by suggesting they have the conversation in private, but Pelley countered that he would prefer to speak in front of his colleagues, Byers reports.

When Bilton then rebuked, ‘They’re my colleagues too,’ Pelley replied: ‘That remains to be seen.’

Those familiar with the discussions said 60 Minutes staff who were present at the meeting showed their support for Pelley – even giving him a standing ovation as he spoke.

His comments came even as one source claimed network executives have signaled their willingness to negotiate with Pelley, who has been a fixture of the news magazine since 2003 and is seen as an integral part of the show.

Senior CBS News executives have reached out to him, along with remaining 60 Minutes correspondents Bill Whitaker, Lesley Stahl and Jon Wertheim, several times over the past week in hopes of convincing them to stay, according to Variety.

But in the hours after Pelley’s eruption, several dozen CBS News veterans – including many former 60 Minutes employees – signed a letter to Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison, urging him to commit to the show’s editorial independence.

‘We, the undersigned, urge you and your management team at CBS News to uphold the principle of editorial independence that has made 60 Minutes – in the words of the show’s new executive producer – “the most important television journalism brand this country has ever produced,”‘ it read.

‘Institutional trust is not transferred through ownership,’ the signatories then argued. ’60 Minutes prospered and had impact because it operated under an implicit and sacred obligation to the public.

‘Modernizing the show for new audiences and new delivery approaches is important – but not at the cost of editorial integrity,’ the letter continued. 

‘The wholesale dismissal of editorial management, without a pledge to maintain the values, standards and traditions of this program, puts the legacy of 60 Minutes in jeopardy.’

They asked Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison to commit to the show’s editorial independence

The letter concluded by asking Ellison to ‘send a clear message to your staff, your viewers and the broader public that you respect and value editorial independence and press freedom.’

Among the organizers of the letter was former 60 Minutes producer Lowell Bergman, who produced the show’s groundbreaking investigation into the tobacco industry in the 1990s.

Signers also included former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather, documentary editor Alex Gibney and actor Glenn Close as well as many other veterans of CBS News.

Outrage at the network executives erupted last week after the show’s producers were fired along with Vega and Alfonsi – who was reportedly left unaware of executives’ decision not to renew her contract.

Both of the now-ousted correspondents have claimed their firing was a form of censorship.

Vega, in her statement, said her contract was not set to expire until March 2027 and that she was fired after she refused to tailor her stories to be politically biased.  

‘Reporting teams have held back on submitting story pitches about important news topics out of fear of the internal repercussions,’ she wrote. ‘Let’s call this what it is: censorship, both imposed and self-driven.

‘It is dangerous for the show and dangerous for democracy.

‘I held the line and refused to incorporate suggestions that offend the conscience, a phrase I borrow from a colleague who has also fought to keep questionable editorial suggestions away from the facts,’ she continued, not naming the colleague.

‘I know from many conversations with colleagues that many producing teams and correspondents working on the show today have had to fight to maintain editorial independence with regularity.

‘I am far from the only 60 Minutes correspondent who has asked herself, “What is my personal red line? How much can I push back before I pay the price?”‘ 

Alfonsi, meanwhile, blamed her exit from the program on a clash she had with CBS brass back in December over a decision to pull a segment she produced about the conditions at Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT), an El Salvadoran prison where the US has deported suspected illegal immigrants.

Alfonsi immediately tore into the decision in an internal email, accusing her bosses of political censorship. The email was promptly leaked to the press.

The journalist reiterated those claims to the Times Wednesday, as the paper broke the news on her 60 Minutes exit.

‘I think it was a deliberate choice to penalize a journalist for refusing to sanitize accurate reporting,’ she told the Times.

Alfonsi also claimed her agent’s inquiries to the network about her future at 60 Minutes had been ‘met with absolute silence.’

‘The message could not be clearer: my time at 60 Minutes is apparently over,’ she said in a statement.

‘In the coming days, network leadership may attempt to hide behind corporate euphemisms like “modernization” and “restructuring” to explain away my departure. Don’t be misled,’ she wrote. 

‘This was not a routine corporate transition; it was a deliberate choice,’ the statement continued.

Fellow 60 Minutes long-timer Anderson Cooper recently left the program as well, reportedly due to frustrations with Weiss, who is in the midst of a network-wide overhaul

Stahl is also reportedly reassessing her CBS News future, after being passed over for the show’s recent sit-down with Benjamin Netanyahu arranged by Weiss personally

It also praised ‘fearless, independent reporting’ seen from 60 Minutes in the past.

‘Today, CBS management is abandoning that mission, choosing access journalism over accountability and protecting power rather than scrutinizing it,’ she wrote, just hours before Weiss’s shakeup.

‘Journalists willing to challenge authority are being pushed aside in favor of those who will not.’ 

Anderson Cooper has already left the program ahead of his contract’s expiration earlier this month, in part because of the show’s new direction after Paramount’s merger with Skydance over the summer, Status reported.

Veteran Lesley Stahl is also mulling a network exit as well, after being passed over for a recent sit-down with Benjamin Netanyahu in April, sources told Status earlier this month.

Weiss was appointed by Paramount CEO David Ellison late last year. 

Owens and former CBS News chief Wendy McMahon both fled ahead of Ellison’s ascent in July, citing corporate overreach they said was already occurring ahead of Paramount’s merger with Ellison’s Skydance, which was solidified over the summer.

The Daily Mail has reached out to CBS News for comment. 

Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who hails from Park Slope, found himself sidelined by the two Democratic candidates vying for the House seat in his district.

During a spirited debate hosted by NY1 on Monday evening, Rep. Dan Goldman and his Democratic primary competitor, Brad Lander, were questioned about their support for Schumer if he decides to seek re-election in 2028.

Lander, eager to distinguish himself, did not hold back in his response. “I believe it’s time for fresh leadership within the Democratic Party. That’s precisely why I’m challenging Rep. Goldman in this race,” he remarked, casting doubt on Schumer’s future.

Goldman, on the other hand, who is campaigning for a third term, chose a more cautious approach. “I haven’t considered it yet. I have no idea if he plans to run. We’ll address that when the time comes,” Goldman replied to NY1 moderators Errol Louis and Courtney Gross.

“I have not thought about it. I have no idea whether he’s going to run or not. We’ll deal with that when the time comes,” Goldman told NY1’s questioners Errol Louis and Courtney Gross.

Both said they would support keeping Brooklyn Rep. Hakeem Jeffries as the House Democratic leader.

“[Jeffries] endorsed me,” Goldman added.

House District 10 includes downtown Manhattan neighborhoods such as the Lower East Side and Chinatown, as well as Brooklyn’s brownstone and waterfront neighborhoods.

Lander, the former city comptroller and councilman backed by Mayor Zohran Mamdani, repeatedly referred to Goldman as a “corporate Democrat.”

He also criticized his opponent, the Levi Strauss heir, for refusing to endorse Mamdani for mayor last year, even after the democratic socialist won the Democratic primary, and for using his personal wealth to help finance his campaign.

Goldman, who previously served as lead counsel in the first House impeachment of former President Trump and as a federal prosecutor, called Lander a “career politician” who “can’t be trusted.”

Both said they would pursue impeachment charges against Trump again if Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives.

The two Jewish candidates also sparred over Israel and the Middle East during the debate.

Goldman marched in the Israel Day Parade. Lander, who has accused the Israeli government of committing “genocide” in Gaza, did not. He also said he would vote against all US military aid to Israel.

Both said ICE should be abolished because of its controversial detention policies.

The candidates also touted more federal funding for public housing and raising taxes on the wealthy.

During the lightning round questioning, Goldman said he planned on attending a Knicks championship playoff game.

Lander said he would attend a Knicks watch party because the tickets to attend at Madison Square Garden are too expensive.

A recent Pix 11/Emerson College poll showed Lander leading the incumbent congressman by 34 points — 57% to 34%. The Goldman camp, however, disputed the survey’s findings.

A tragic incident unfolded on a Florida beach on Monday when the driver of a pickup truck collided with a toll booth, resulting in the death of the attendant. The truck became lodged in the sand after the impact.

The devastating crash took place at approximately 12:40 p.m. at the Dunlawton Avenue beach access ramp in Daytona Beach Shores, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Tammy Jo Baker, who was inside the booth, tragically lost her life just weeks before her 63rd birthday, as reported by Sheriff Mike Chitwood at the scene.

The sheriff estimated the vehicle’s speed at around 40 mph when it crashed into and demolished the toll booth.
