Spencer Pratt, a candidate vying for the position of mayor in Los Angeles, dedicated part of his Saturday to rallying voter support in Baldwin Village, as the countdown to Tuesday’s primary election continues.

Around 150 residents gathered for a community barbecue and voter outreach event, where they had the opportunity to discuss pressing issues such as homelessness, crime, public safety, government accountability, and the future of Los Angeles with Pratt.

Throughout the event, Pratt mingled with attendees, taking time to address questions, pose for photos, and listen to the concerns of residents who feel neglected by City Hall.

“Baldwin Village is a place with incredible people and potential, but what struck me most was their disappointment with Karen Bass,” Pratt shared with The Post.

“There’s a widespread sense of disillusionment and demoralization with city leadership, and they seem hopeful about having a candidate who shares their distrust and disdain for politicians,” he added.

Pratt said many residents feel they have been living with the consequences of government failures for years.

“The community appreciates that I have had to suffer the consequences of government neglect, as they have for years,” Pratt said. “I look forward to working with neighborhood leaders to stomp out corruption and fraud so their tax dollars can be put to work for them.”

With turnout expected to play a major role in determining who advances from Tuesday’s election, Pratt repeatedly urged supporters not to sit out the race.

“It’s now or never,” Pratt said. “We have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to right the ship in LA, but people need to get off the internet and go vote. I don’t want to hear anyone complain about druggies or vagrant fires or potholes if they haven’t voted. There’s no fate but what we make.”

The event was organized by local volunteers and community leaders who said they wanted residents to have direct access to a mayoral candidate.

“It’s good to see everybody coming out voting,” said organizer Marie Claybourne. “Whatever we can do to help, I’m here for it.”

Among those who spoke with Pratt was Baldwin Village resident Leonard Lee, who raised concerns about a lack of accountability surrounding homelessness spending.

“The biggest problem in the homeless situation is the nonprofit issue,” Lee told The Post. “The money is being funneled to nonprofits and they’re paying themselves.”

Throughout the afternoon, Pratt emphasized that if elected, he plans to spend less time inside City Hall and more time meeting directly with residents.

“I plan to spend very little time in City Hall,” Pratt told attendees. “I have way more fun being out in communities with people who feel like they’re not heard because that’s why I got elected. I didn’t feel heard.”

The event also attracted social media reporter Eoin Richard, who has built a following documenting homelessness and quality-of-life issues across Los Angeles.

Richard said he supports Pratt because he believes the city needs a different approach to homelessness.

“We have to save our city and actually elect someone who cares about the people, who cares about fixing homelessness and solving the root problems, not just pushing them into other communities and creating chaos,” Richard said.

Richard said his reporting grew out of his experience living in MacArthur Park, where he witnessed encampments and drug activity firsthand.

“Every single day people, including myself, had to deal with encampments on the ground and drug use around children and parks,” Richard said. “It has an effect on everybody across LA.”

He said Pratt’s message appeared to be resonating with voters gathered at the event.

“It’s an inspiring message,” Richard said. “I think everyone on the ground here is inspired, and we’ve got to keep up the momentum.”

The Post spoke with residents who were not attending Saturday’s event to gauge voter sentiment and turnout. While several said they had not yet cast their ballots, many told The Post they planned to vote before polls close Tuesday.

Sophia Young, who is not yet old enough to vote but closely follows city politics with her family, said her parents support Councilwoman Nithya Raman.

“I support a lot of her policies,” Young said. “As someone who comes from a family who pays rent and I see my parents struggle with that, I think that’s something that appeals to me personally,” she said.

She added that she believes the race remains highly competitive.

“I think it’s going to be a really close race.”

Other residents said they had already voted for Mayor Karen Bass.

Kevin Merrik, a nearby resident who cast his ballot by mail, said he considered other options before ultimately backing the incumbent.

“It’s a tough job and it’s a tough time,” he said. “The fire sure didn’t help her.”

“I finally decided that I want to stick with someone that I knew who she was.”

The event also drew first-time voters.

One newly naturalized citizen said she recently registered to vote and cast her first ballot for Pratt after being encouraged by Adrian Mallon, a community advocate who has been active in Pratt’s campaign outreach efforts.

“It’s my first time voting, and I’m glad I get to do it for Spencer Pratt,” she said.

There are just three days left for voters to cast their ballots.

As The Post reported on Friday, the race has tightened into a razor-close three-way contest, with Spencer Pratt and Mayor Karen Bass running neck and neck and Councilwoman Nithya Raman close behind.

Alexandra Grant, the partner of acclaimed actor Keanu Reeves, has shared a rare glimpse into their enduring relationship.

A Massachusetts family tragically lost their lives in a Virginia road accident while en route to a wedding, bringing along a car full of homemade desserts for the occasion. Dmitri and Ecaterina Doncev, along with their children Emily and Mark, were traveling to South Carolina for a family celebration that will now also serve as a time for remembrance and mourning.

Despite the devastating loss, the wedding is set to proceed on Sunday, doubling as a moment to honor the cherished memories of the Doncev family. “A son, a father—the whole family—everyone that has been dear to us,” expressed Carolina Bublik, a relative, in reflection of the tragic event.

The family fell victim to a fatal chain-reaction crash initiated by a motorcoach early Friday morning. The bus collided with several vehicles that had slowed for a work zone on Interstate 95 in Stafford County at approximately 2:35 a.m., according to authorities.

The initial impact involved a Suburban, which subsequently collided with an Acura carrying the Doncev family. Tragically, Priscilla Mafalda, a 25-year-old from Worcester, Massachusetts, was also among those who perished in the Chevrolet SUV.

More people were treated for injuries, including one who was in critical condition, though most were discharged, Mary Washington Healthcare said.

The bus driver, Jing S. Dong, 48, of Staten Island, New York, was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, and additional charges were likely, Virginia State Police said. It was not immediately known if he was in custody or had a lawyer yet.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash, a monthslong task separate from the work of state police. NTSB board member Tom Chapman revealed few new details but said the bus was moving at a high rate of speed.

“It seems fairly clear that if there was any braking there wasn’t much, because of the speed and severity of the collision,” Chapman said.

The bus, which was taking people from New York to North Carolina, was operated by E&P Travel Inc., based in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

Chapman said the driver’s language proficiency would be part of the NTSB investigation. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, citing police, said on social media that Dong, a native of China, does not speak English.

Dmitri Doncev, 45, was a nurse who worked at Holyoke Medical Center. Ecaterina Doncev, 44, was a hairstylist who spent days making desserts for the family wedding, Bublik said.

They emigrated to the U.S. from Moldova in 2008 and settled in Greenfield, Massachusetts, she said.

Dmitri and brother Iuri tried to stay together while traveling in separate vehicles to South Carolina.

“At some point they ended up getting separated,” Bublik said. “Dmitri said, ‘You go ahead. I’ll catch up later.’ It was a big shock when Iuri arrived at the house. Dmitri should have arrived around the same time. When his car did not show up, and he wasn’t picking up the phone – that’s when the family started panicking.”

The New York City police are delving into a peculiar incident after surveillance footage captured several individuals entering a sewer through a manhole and reappearing several hours later. This curious event unfolded in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn.

On social media, the NYPD shared, “Earlier today, authorities conducted a thorough investigation following reports of unauthorized individuals inside the sewer system on McDonald Avenue. The NYPD and other agencies have completed their sweep, confirming the area is safe and free of hazards.”

According to PIX 11-TV, this group was observed entering the manhole at approximately 11 p.m. on a Thursday night, only to emerge again at around 2 a.m. on Friday. In a similar incident, another group was reportedly seen using a different manhole in the vicinity during the same timeframe, as noted by the authorities.

Meanwhile, another alarming environmental issue has surfaced as a staggering 250 million gallons of sewage have reportedly contaminated the Potomac River in what officials are calling a ‘historic’ spill. The investigation into both events continues, with authorities seeking to understand the full scope and implications of these occurrences.

Police in New York City are investigating after several people were caught on surveillance video this week going into the sewer via a manhole and emerging hours later. (NYPD)

The police don’t yet know who the sewer explorers were or what they were up to.

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection also did its own inspection, telling Fox News Digital: “DEP has inspected the sewer infrastructure at this location and found no damage to the system.”

The spokesperson warned, “Entering the sewer system is both illegal and extremely dangerous. Sewers can contain numerous hazards, including noxious and potentially deadly gases, unstable surfaces, flooding risks, and confined spaces. For these reasons, members of the public should never enter a pipe, drain, catch basin, manhole, or outfall.”

The people were seen entering the manhole around 11 p.m. on Thursday in the Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn and reemerging around 2 a.m. on Friday. (NYPD)
